Wrestling Newsletter Year 4 (2009)_8.6 and 8.7 – “Over the Edge” PPV FULL results

Wrestling Newsletter Year 4 (2009)_8.6 – “Over the Edge” PPV results:

Hello fans. Welcome back to our newsletter. In this issue, we will recap the results of the Over the Edge PPV. Due to the size of the card, the event took place over two days.

The show began with the NWWA (formerly the HWF) owner the Negronomicon coming to the ring. He took the mic: “The first match of the night will feature ME. I am calling down the Undertaker now for my title shot at the World Heavyweight title. As soon as the Undertaker came down, the bell rang to signal the beginning of the match. The Undertaker starts off by taking down N with a big foot to the face. N connects with a Doom Bomb but gets tossed out of the ring. He makes it back in at the 5 count. A chokeslam from the Undertaker is met with a thrust kick from N. N connects with a snap suplex but only gets a 2 count. Negronomicon hits a Dragon Suplex and Undertaker stops him with another foot to the face. Undertaker hits a chokeslam but N counters with another Dragon Suplex. Another Doom bomb from N and another visit to the outside of the ring by N. He makes it back in by 3. Taker hits a clothesline and N gets in his face and bitch-slaps him. Undertaker is NOT happy. Taker gets N up for the Last ride but N wiggles out of it. The Worlds Greatest Tag team (NWWA tag champs) comes down. Negronomicon throws Undertaker out of the ring. He immediately tells the ref this is now a No DQ match. Haas and Benjamin attack the Undertaker and then toss him back to their waiting boss. Undertaker suprises everyone when he hits the Last Ride on N and almost gets a 3 count if it weren’t for Benjamin putting his bosses foot on the rope. N pokes Undertaker in the eye and then hits the Black Doom. The ref makes the count 1….2…..3!!!!!! We have a NEW NWWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. Unbelievable!

Undertaker gets up and starts to go after N but then the entire Posse come down and put Taker down. They end up dragging him to the top of the ramp after the vicious beatdown. Negronomincon pulls out some Tar and Feathers and proceeds to cover the former champ in the goo. “Undertaker, you’re presence is no longer required here. You can leave. ..and I mean for good. The NWWA is no place for washed-up has-beens. If you want to go to the CSWA, whatever. Just leave. "

In the back, Undertaker is met by Jeff Meyers and William Regal “Taker, of course you are welcome in the CSWA if you so choose” said Jeff Meyers. “His loss will be our gain. In fact, I tell you this. If you choose to sign with us now” he turns to William Regal “William, please hand me a contract.” He turns back to the Undertaker and says “If you sign with us NOW, I will guarantee you a World Title Shot. #1 contender after the PPV is completed. Right off the bat. What do you say?” Undertaker said “Where do I sign?” William Regal showed Undertaker where to sign. The CSWA has a new acquisition….The Undertaker. Regal and Meyers couldn’t be more proud.

The next match on the card is showcasing the return of Mohammed Hassan taking on the Super Warrior. Hassan came down firs t followed by his manager Davari. Super Warrior came out next. Right off the bat, Hassan hits a suplex and goes for a pin. SW kicks out just before 2. Hassan hits another suplex and this time gets the long 2 count. SW hits a reverse neckbreaker and Hassan kicks him in the gut for it. Hassan eye gouges the SW but he manages to get Hassan in a cobra clutch. A quick grab of the ropes broke the hold. Another ripping eye gouge and Hassan makes a cover. He almost gets 3 but not quite. SW tosses Hassan out of the ring but he’s back in almost as quick. Hassan is much quicker than his opponent and after Hassan hits the third towering suplex, he makes the cover in the middle of the ring and as the ref counts 1…..2…..3. Hassan is declared the winner and now gets SW’s spot for the CSWA Cruiserweight title.

Next on the card is Randy Orton taking on Mick Foley. The winner of this match wins both slots for future title shots. Foley was in his Cactus Jack attire and unlike the last time these two met in the WWF ™, he was not going to be Randy’s whipping boy. Foley started off with a belly to back suplex and a pin which he only got a 1 count. Randy got up and posed for some ladies at ringside and Foley ripped hair out of his head in frustration. Orton gets back in and hits a standing elbow and Mick repays him with a stomp on his throat. Randy recovers and hits the RKO but only gets a two count. Mick gets up and hits another Belly to Belly suplex and as he goes for the pin, the ref counts 1….2….3. Mick Foley is the winner of the match and will be awarded Orton’s shot for the World Title. Randy has nothing now.

With the addition of the Undertaker to the CSWA, that ended up pushing Samoa Joe out of the World title contention and moved to the vacated spot for the US title. Joe didn’t seem to mind.

The Dudley’s were up next defending the World Tag team titles against the Steiners. William Regal came out to make an announcement: “One of the stipulations of this match is that if the Steines lose, then Rick must retire. I am adding another stipulation….If the Steiners lose, Scott will be traded to the NWWA. For those that do not know or remember, Negronomicon and Scott Steiner has some unfinished business between them. It will be interested to see what happens. The Steiners came out and glared at Regal as they went to the ring. They were then followed by the World Tag Team Champs. The Dudley’s owned the matchup at the beginning but slowly lost their momentum from the highly motivated Steiners. The Dudley’s only got in one double-team. The Steiners controlled the majority of the match with quick tags. The end came after a Frankensteiner from Scott on Bubba and Devon couldn’t get in the ring fast enough to make the save. The winners of the match and NEW World Tag Team Champions – The Steiners. This prompted the Negronomicon to come out. “I traded away Undertaker earlier tonight and you know what, Scott, you are now my property. I don’t want Rick. Since opposing members from different federations cannot hold a combined championship, I am requiring you to defend your titles again. I believe the Big Show and Abyss are next. So without further ado, let’s get this next match underway. If you can survive this one, I’ll let you stay. If not, you are mine and Rick is still gone.”

In a match added by the owner of the NWWA, the Negronomicon, we have the World tag belts being defended for the second time. Scott started off against the Big Show. The Steiners ruled this match too. Even with the combined power of the challengers, it wasn’t enough to break the motivation of the Steiner Brothers. Scott gets the win by pinning the Big Show after a double team. Negronomicon came out looking pissed. “I’ll get you next time Steiner. Guaranteed.”

Negronomicon met up with the Hardys in the back. He told them that they were up next against the team of Donnie B and Mark Henry. He expects them to win. They will also be receiving the next World Tag Team title shot and he expects them to walk out with the belts or else. Negronomicon goes on to tell the rest of his group that their performances at this PPV will determine how he does the ranking for the NWWA Tag Team titles. He announces that Shawn Michaels will remain the tag team of DX and they will not be allowed to persue tag team belts. He also reminds them that the Hardys, the Bruiser and Tommy Dreamer, Dibiasi & Rhodes, Sting and Jarrett are all tag teams and CANNOT compete for any NWWA singles titles.

Next on the card is Samoa Joe taking on Rhyno for the #3 spot for the CSWA World Title. Rhyno and Joe start off like gangbusters with Rhyno controlling early. This led to Joe motioning to someone in the back. Out came his new mentor, TAZ! Taz came down to ringside and immediately made an impact. He gave something, probably a foreign object to Joe and the match continued. Joe hit Rhyno with it and locked him in a camel clutch. Rhyno made it to the ropes. He threw Rhyno to the ropes and knocked him outside the ring. Rhyno got back in when the ref hit 7. Joe choked Rhyno on the ropes, flung him off and went for a pin. He barely got a one count. Rhyno connected with a belly to belly suplex but Joe came back with a muscle buster for a pin attempt. He got 2. Rhyno tried to make a comeback but this time TAZ interferred again by choking him on the ropes. Rhyno got out of the ring and started to chase TAZ. Joe blindsided Rhyno and tossed him back in the ring. He covered him with his feet on the ropes. 1….2..3. Samoa Joe with Taz is the winner of this match. Rhyno moves to the last spot for the US title and Joe takes his place.

Jeff Jarrett and Sting vs. Tommy Dreamer and the Bruiser (also for NWWA tag team ranking) was next. Sting and Jarrett came down first followed by Dreamer and the Bruiser….and their new manager…none other than…The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiasi. Sting and the Bruiser started off first. Jarrett immediately comes in for a double team but then so did Deamer. The ref finally gets the odd men out and Jarrett is in with Dreamer. Dreamer lands a knee drop on Jarrett. Bruiser comes in for 2 minutes of double teaming. Jarrett somehow manages to roll up the Bruiser for a pin attempt but only gets a 2 count. All of a sudden, the Bruiser and Dreamer started a barrage of offensive on Sting. They double teamed and went for pin attempts all of which Sting managed to kick out of. Dreamer is in the ring and he nails Sting with a Singapore Cane shot. Sting goes down. Dreamer makes the cover but Sting kicks out at 2. Sting tries to scream in Dreamer’s face and receives another Cane shot for good measure. Sting is out. The Bruiser hits the ring to keep Jarrett out. Dreamer make the cover again and this time gets the 3. Your winners – The Bruiser and Tommy Dreamer. Bruiser and Dreamer will receive higher tag team rankings in the NWAA for winning this bout.

Another match has been added to the card. HHH taking on AJ Styles. This will come later in the evening.

Next on the card is John Cena taking on CM Punk in a Steel Cage. Cena starts off with a side suplex but Punk goes to the cage first by hitting Cena with a running powerslam into the cage. Punk is outwrestling Cena. At the five minute mark, Punk goes to the top of the cage and hits a B52 kneedrop onto Cena. He makes the cover but only gets a two count. Cena manages to recover and rubs Punk’s eyes into the cage blinding him. Punk backs into the ref knocking him out. All of a sudden, a masked man comes down and throws Cena a chain. He begins to choke Punk but there is no ref to stop it. The ref is starting to get up but Punk bodyslams Cena on him again knocking him out. Punk blinds Cena by rubbing his face into the cage and then Punk gets to the cage again and chokes Cena against it. The ref is still out and unable to officiate. Cena is tossed viciously into the cage. The ref starts to stir. Punk goes to charge Cena but at the last minute he moves out of the way. The bell rings signifying the end of the match. This prompts William Regal to come out and restart the match. “We need a real winner here, not some bogus win by time limit draw”. The match continues. We go another 5 minutes and just as Cena is getting his second wind, Punk tosses him into the ref knocking him out again. This time Regal calls the match. You know, we can’t have our ref being knocked out all the time so I am modifying this match to now be a peer-6 brawl. The match will now continue (with a new ref) under the new rules. Just as the match begins again, Punk nails Cena with a superkick and goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Cena throws some light acid but most of it misses Punk so he is only incapacitated for a moment. Cena hits the “You can’t see me” but only gets a 2 count. Cena throws Punk out of the ring and he lands on his head. He is knocked out cold. The ref finally calls an end to this match after 34 grueling minutes. I don’t think this one is over by a longshot.

The next match had AJ Styles vs HHH. HHH dictated the pace of the match and AJ stayed with him all the way. At one point during the match, the Negronomicon came down and ordered HHH to turn up the heat “Whatever you need to do to win this match” were the words spoken by the NWAA owner. He left after making his wishes known. HHH resorted to using a sledgehammer twice on AJ but never got a pin from it. Both men traded moves and neither one really gained a huge advantage over the other. When HHH took the lead, AJ would battle back. Finally, AJ tossed HHH from the ring and HHH ended up getting counted out. At first, it looked like HHH was going to attack AJ but he finally shook AJ’s hand and apologized for using the sledgehammer. Negronomicon was watching on a monitor in the back and seemed really disappointed in the ending.

The final match of the night was Santino Marella defending his new X-division title against Christopher Daniels. Before the match, Santino got a pep-talk from the NWAA owner to make sure he did what he needed to in order to hang on to that title. Santino held his own until the 6 minute mark and Daniels opened up all over him. Santino couldn’t keep up and was barely kicking out of pin attempts. Finally, Santino got a break…Daniels tossed him out of the ring. He took this time to hightail it out of the ring. He ended up getting counted out. Daniels won the match but did not win the title.

That is all for now. More to follow later.

Wrestling Newsletter Year 4 (2009)_8.7 – “Over the Edge” PPV results – Day 2

Hello, we are back to recap the matches from Day 2 of the “Over the Edge” PPV.

The first match of the evening had Chris Masters defending the North American title against Stevie Richards. Richards is trying to make an impact here. For 3 minutes he dominated Masters never allowing him any offense. At the 4 minute mark, clearly frustrated, Masters tosses Richards out of the ring. He then handcuffs him to the ringside barrier. Richards is unable to make it back in the ring by the 10 count so Masters is announced as the winner by Count out.

Our next match had Carlito defending the IC title against Golddust. This next match went a full 28 minutes before seing the winner. Golddust took control early; Carlito came in and held his own before taking control. Most of the match was pretty even. Until the final minutes of the match did Carlito actually kick it into gear. In the end, Golddust was no match for the Cabana groin shot. Carlito made the cover and got the win. He holds onto the IC title. In the back, he was congratulated by other members of the Posse. So far, not including Negronomicon’s win over the Undertaker, he was the only member of the Posse to get an actual win – not one by countout or getting counted out or DQ’d. Christian congratulated him and then went over to talk with his boss. “I know you said you had plans for me but I’m really not comfortable just sitting around here. “ “I’ll tell you what” said Negronomicon. “I can’t give you the title yet since I have not had my match with Khali. As soon as those losers in the CSWA get their matches done and over with, I can have my match and I can award you the World title as I had promised.” Christian managed a smile but it didn’t help him feel any better.

The cruiserweight title match is next with MVP taking on Elijah Burke. MVP controlled the majority of the match and even though there were lots of high-impact moves happening, the crowd really didn’t get into it that much. MVP walks away with the win after a 14 minute battle.

Next, MVP is taking on Batista for the TV title. MVP is not at his best as he just fought for 14 min. Batista came down to the ring. MVP took up right where he left off with Burke. I don’t think Batista was expecting such a fresh opponent. In two minutes though, Batista had managed to take the lead. It wasn’t until MVP hit Batista with a superkick almost knocking him out that he finally regained his composure. With Batista on the defense, MVP hit a sunset flip and managed the 1.2.3. MVP is now the NEW CSWA TV Champion in addition to the Cruiserweight title holder.

MVP stayed in the ring as Booker T came down for his match for the US title. MVP is still looking fresh in the ring. Booker hits MVP with a headbutt but the challenger came back with a superkick almost taking off the head of the US champ. Booker connects with the Bookend but it’s not enough to take down MVP who connects with a judo chop. A scissors kick from the champ and he gets a 2 count. MVP battles back but Booker gets him in a sleeperhold. He is trying to wear the challenger down. He lays him down and goes for a pin but MVP kicks out. An eye rake from the challenger is met with another sleeperhold and pin attempt from the champ. Kickout at 2. A spinning smash from the champ and another cover and another 2 count. Booker tosses MVP from the ring but he is back in fairly quick. Booker has control now and MVP is trying to get some offense in. Booker hit the spinnarooni and went for the pin. MVP kicks out AGAIN. Booker is starting to get frustrated. This match almost goes the distance. At the 19 minute mark, Booker connects with a fabulous dropkick and this time he is able to get the 1-2-3. Booker T is still the US Champion.

Great Khali comes out not giving Booker any rest time. If Booker wants his title shot, he needs to bring his A-game now.
Booker tosses the champ out of the ring to give himself more time to recover from the last match. Khali overpowers Booker and Booker needs to use his speed to stay out of reach from the champ. Khali hits his signature slam a few times but it’s not enough to keep the Booker-Man down. Booker battles back with a scissors kick and a cover but only a 2 count. Khali misses a huge boot and Booker catches him with the Bookend. Booker makes the cover. The ref counts 1…..2…..3. Booker T is the NEW CSWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. Booker goes on to meet the Negronomicon for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship. That match is next.

Booker T vs the Negronomicon is happening now. This match is pitting the respective World Champions against each other to see who will become the NEW Undisputed Champion replacing the ousted Kurt Angle. Negronomicon starts off by bitch-slapping Booker T. Booker responds by tossing N out of the ring where he almost gets counted out. A doom bomb from the Negronomicon is met by a sleeperhold from Booker. N connects with a thrust kick and Booker hits a forearm smash. N tosses Booker T out of the ring but Booker makes it back in by the 6 count. While he is distracted, Negronomicon connnects with a snap suplex and with his feet on the ropes, the ref counts 1…2….3!!!!! Negronomicon is now the NEW UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!! Good grief. This is insane. Booker is not happy in the ring and Negronomicon grabs his 2 belts and leaves. Booker is left in the ring complaining.

In the back, the Negronomicon is met by his Posse. They are all there congratulating him…except for Christian. Negronomicon walks over to him and says “I’m keeping my promise to you but I need you to do one thing first. I need you to give up the top contender spot for the World title. Obviously you can’t be the #1 contender and the champ at the same time.” Christian replies “Award me the belt and I will give up the spot immediately.” Negronomicon continues “That’s not how it works. Christian, I need you to prove to me that you are loyal. I can’t have loose cannons running around here.” Christian continued “I think I have done that by laying down for you in the ring. I gave up the #2 title in the NWWA because YOU asked ME to . I don’t think I have anything left to prove.” Negronomicon thought about it for a minute and said “You’re right. I’m wrong. Let’s go down to the ring and I will award you the title in front of everyone.”

The Posse in its entirety went down to ringside to support the new Undisputed Champion. Negronomicon got in the ring and took a mic. “Christian, you have done everything I have asked of you. You are a good soldier and I am glad to have you on our team. BUT…….I have asked you to do one more thing for me and you refuse. “ He turns to the rest of the Posse “I think it’s time for us to give this ‘soldier’ exactly what he deserves.” At that, the entire Posse attacked Christian beating him down. Masters put him in the masterlock, Haas and Benjamin stomped away on him. Santino and Carlito took turns slapping him down. Negronomicon then got in Christian’s face. “Chris, let him go.” Christian dropped but Negronomicon helped him back up, hit him with the Black Doom and left him laying there in the ring. “NO One disrespects me. This is MY federation. I am the OWNER. I am the World and Undisputed Heavyweight Champions. I will not be spoken to by garbage. Get this piece of crap out of here.” The Posse took delight in tossing Christian out of the ring. They all celebrated a bit more and then left the ring.

In the back, Booker T was celebrating his World title win and still a little sore from his match. All of a sudden, it felt like it had dropped 20 degrees in the room. The lights flickered and when they stopped, Undertaker was standing right in front of him. “Booker, you tried to run but you were not successful. I am here and I am the #1 contender for THAT title. You and I will fight once again for the championship and I will prove to you that my previous wins were not a fluke. I am the uncrowned champion and you know it. It will only be a matter of time and that belt, like all the others, will be mine.” He then turned and walked away before Booker could get a word in.

Chris Jericho approached William Regal and asked why he was not on tonight’s card. Regal thought his ego deserved the night off. Off to the side, Bobby Lashley hears this and chuckles. Jericho goes over to him and asks what he thinks is so funny. Lashley comments that Jericho is the resident clown and he makes people laugh at his stupidity. Jericho says that if he thinks he can handle the jockularity, maybe he should meet him in the ring. Bobby looks over to Regal who says “Sure, why not.” Both men get ready to head to the ring.

Bobby Lashley vs. Chris Jericho is another match created at the last minute. Bobby Lashley started off like a firecracker and like a sparkler, fizzled out. Jericho dominated the match and went for multiple pin attempts – all of which Bobby powered out of. It didn’t help that Jericho was being egotistical and making non-challant covers. Everytime Chris went for a pin, he was lax about it. Lashley was able to hang on till the end and when the bell rang, the match ended in a time limit draw. Jericho wasn’t happy about it but he really didn’t push it.

Our second to last match of the night is Donnie B and Mark Henry taking on the Hardy Boys. The Hardys’ future is at stake as Negronomicon was threatening them that if they did not win, there would be dire consequences. The Hardys proved to the world and Negronomicon why they are tag specialists. Jeff and Matt tagged in with ease and went for many pin attempts but could not pin Henry or Donnie B. The match ended up going 17 minutes with Mark Henry in the ring most of the time. In the end, Henry got pinned from a well placed fist drop from Matt. Donnie B was not able to make it in for the save. The Hardys retain their spot for the World Tag Team Titles. They will receive the next shot at the Steiners.

The final match of the evening will be MW3 vs Shawn Michaels for the services of Whisper. If Shawn loses, he must retire. If MW3 loses, he must unmask and show his real face – no makeup, no other masks. MW3 gets in the ring first with Whisper on his arm. Michaels follows and looks like a man determined. Michaels and MW3 lock up and the hold is quickly broken with an arm drag from MW3. Michaels rushed in and received a knee to the jaw for his efforts. Dazed, Michales then fell victim to the Spike. MW3 made a cover but Shawn kicked out. Shawn is thrown out of the ring but MW3 does not persue. Michaels starts to battle back with a flying bodypress off the ropes. As MW3 gets to his feet, Shawn hits with with Sweet Chin Music. He then falls down holding his knee. MW3 capitalizes by locking Shawn in the figure four but Shawn makes it to the ropes. MW3 then puts Shawn in the Sharpshooter but he won’t tap. MW3 throws Shawn to the ropes and Shawn connects with a flying forearm. MW3 is down. Shawn picks him up and hits a huge bodyslam in the middle of the ring. He goes to the top rope and connects with the flying elbow smash – 3 times. MW3 looks like he is out on his feet. He’s walking around in a daze. Shawn connects again with Sweet Chin Music and as he goes for the pin, MW3 reverses it into a roll-up but only gets a two count. Shawn goes for a suplex which is reversed into a dragon sleeper. Shawn is in trouble. The ref raises Shawn’s arm and it falls once, twice…NOPE. Shawn starts to “Hulk” up and with a flurry of punches, takes down MW3. MW3 goes to the top turnbuckle and hits a missile dropkick. Shawn, disoriented, hits the Sweet Chin Music again and MW3 goes down. Shawn crawls over to make the cover. The ref counts 1………2…………….3. Shawn Michaels is the winner of the match and Whisper joins back up with him. They have a tearful reunion as Shawn apologizes to his wife for the way he treated her. They rejoice and get ready to leave but then Shawn stops. He goes back to MW3 with a mic in hand. “I won the match. The agreement was for you to unmask.” MW3 begins to remove his mask when Shawn stops him. “I haven’t had an opponent that gave me such a run as you did. You have earned my respect.” They both shake hands and MW3 goes back to removing his mask. “Stop. I was wrong in asking you to unmask. You have proven to be a great opponent and hopefully the next time we meet, we will be on the same team.” “Thank you Shawn” MW3 replied. “It would be an honor.” They both shook hands and MW3 raised the arm of Michaels and Whisper and then left them to the adulation of the fans.

Thank you for joining us. We will be back soon.
