HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #773 – Tacoma Thunder (5/26)

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  We have a great show for you tonight that will have dual main events.  First, the Six Man Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman will be defending the titles against the 5th Column and our final match of the card will have Ladies Champion Violet Valkyrie defending the title against Leslie Grimes.

The show begins backstage in the office of GM Max McGillicutty.  Sitting with him is Phoenix GM Master Bull.  The two are discussing our upcoming Supershow next Sunday.  Bull mentions that he is taking on World Champion the Banker but really isn’t interested (as a GM) to be World Champion so he’s taking that stipulation off the match.  However, he doesn’t much care for the Banker so if Banker loses, he will lose both the World Title and his career in HCW.  He doesn’t want Phoenix’s problems jumping to Tacoma like they did with Apollo Gyze so Bull asks Max to agree to just dissolve his contract and let him go play somewhere else.  Max agrees.  Bull does say that if he loses (he knows he won’t even if he has to buy off the ref), he wants to ensure the Phoenix brand is protected.  Max says he’s already talked with the owners and they have a plan in place.  Bull breathes a sigh of relief.  “Well, thanks for the chat.  I want to get out of here before I run into that goofball Apollo.”  Max chuckles and says “Don’t we all”.  The two shake hands and Bull leaves.

Pyro goes off and our show begins.  Starting things off, the Regulators (Mule and Mammoth) come out first to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  They get in the ring and await their opponents.  The music changes and the fans pop as Maximillian Redbeard and Superquake Ferguson come out.  They high five with the fans and make their way into the ring.  The two tower over the Regulators but Mammoth and Mule don’t seem too fazed by it.   The match begins with the Regulators controlling the first part of the match but then Ferguson and Redbeard turned on the power and began to dominate their opponents.  At the 18 minute mark, the Omegatron lights up and we see the World Tag Team Champions Mean Jack Mason and Angry Jack Lawson.  The champs mock the slowness and bumbling from Ferguson calling him the weak link.  Ferguson then jumped down from the apron only to eat a big boot from a sneak attack by Angry Jack Lawson.  Jack hit Ferguson in the leg with a chair and then took back off through the crowd.  Maximillian caught the very end and went to check on his partner.  Ferguson was injured but Maximillian continued the fight solo holding the Regulators at bay.  5 minutes later, Ferguson seemly recovered, made the hot tag.  The Regulators double teamed him quite often and kept him out of his corner.  Just when it looked like the match was going to run out of time, Mule executed a Regulator Roundhouse and made the cover getting the 3 count.  The Regulators get the win.  Maximillian goes to check on his partner and helps him up.  The two then make their way to the back.  (30 min)

Backstage, Master Bull is making his way out the door and to the garage.  As soon as he opens the door, standing in front of him is ‘the Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher, US Champion the Wicked Prophet, ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito and last but not least Hardcore Champion Apollo Gyze.  Apollo walks right up to Master Bull and smirks holding the Hardcore title in his face.  Apollo then walks off laughing followed by the rest of Preacher’s posse.  Bull shakes his head, mumbles something and then leaves.

The next match is ready to go.  We have another tag team match up.  First, the Smashers (#1 and #2) come out to huge booing from the crowd.   They flip the fans off as they make their way down to the ring.  They enter and begin jaw jacking with the crowd.  The fans pop when they hear the next music play and out comes TNT and Scooter J.  They interact with the fans as they make their way to ringside.   The Smashers kick at the ropes each time TNT and SJ try to enter the ring.  They do maintain their composure and eventually find an opening and climb in.  Scooter J climbs a turnbuckle and TNT flexes his massive frame to a pop from the crowd.  SJ and TNT dominated the Smashers just totally owning them in the ring.  At one point, the Smashers tried to leave but TNT made sure they stuck around to receive the ass-kicking they deserved.  Finally, at the 18 minute mark, SJ takes Smasher #2 down with a huge clothesline and makes the cover getting the 3 count.  Scooter J and TNT get the win and the fans pop huge.  The Smashers slink out of the ring and make their way to the back.  SJ and TNT interact with the crowd a few moments before also heading backstage.

Backstage, Tempest Fortune is taking part in an interview and she is rudely interrupted by Sassy Maxine DeVito.  Maxine mocks Tempest for not having gotten a title match yet.  Tempest maintains her composure and says that Maxine can’t even stop a Hailstone.  Maxine gets mad and challenges Tempest to a match for her spot in the Ladies Top 10 line up.  Tempest agrees and Maxine storms off.

Our next match is ready to go and we have another tag match.  First, Adam Jameson and Billy Robbins make their way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes ‘the Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher.  He introduces the US Champion the Wicked Prophet.  The fans begin to boo but they get louder when they hear blaring of the loudspeakers “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” and making is ‘grand’ entrance is the Hardcore Champion Apollo Gyze.  The fans boo the crap out of the trio as they make their way down to the ring.  For this match, neither the US or Hardcore titles are on the line. Once Prophet and Apollo get into the ring, they immediately attack their opponents drawing more ire from the fans.  For the first 5 minutes of the match, AJ and Billy were limited to one offensive move.  Apollo spent the majority of the time in the ring but we think that was his ego at work.  He did tag in Prophet when he wanted a breather but would demand to be tagged back in moments later.  At the 12 minute mark, Prophet hit the Devil’s snare but Apollo tagged himself back in.  Prophet wasn’t happy and as Apollo turned around, he ate a spin kick from Adam.   Jameson followed it up with a backflip kick but Preacher got involved and bludgeoned him with a foreign object.  Apollo hit a jumping clothesline on AJ and then went for the cover getting the 3 count.  The Wicked Prophet and Apollo Gyze get the win.  We noted early on that their partnership was going to be strenuous for sure.  Preacher led his team to the back as the fans looked on in disgust.  (15 min)

The Six Man Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman state that they will have their hands full with the 5th Column but are not overlooking the other teams who want another shot at them – the Snake Pit and the Muscles Trio.  Bannerman says that one team who should be overlooked would be Tommy Lightning and the Smashers.  Buzz says that if and only if they can prove themselves worthy by winning in the ring and not sneak attacks could they be considered for future title shots.  Starbuck agrees and Biceps shrugs his massive shoulders.  “One thing at a time” Starbuck says.  “The 5th Column tonight and then we’ll see what happens next.”  Buzz and Biceps look at each other and then the camera and say “Word”.

The next match is ready to go and ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito comes out.  Her manager Matt Preacher is running to keep up with her.  She turns and tells him that she’s ‘got this’ and tells him to start preparing her challenge to the Ladies Champion because as soon as she defeats Tempest, she wants the ‘soccer mom’ in the ring.  Preacher leaves as Maxine gets into the ring.  The music changes and out comes Tempest Fortune to a huge pop from the crowd.  Tempest makes her way down and gets into the ring never taking her eyes off of Maxine.   Maxine begins the match by locking in a bodyscissors dragon sleeper but Tempest makes it to the ropes to break the hold.  A few minutes later, Tempest locks in an armbar but Maxine dumps her out of the ring.  Tempest makes it back in at 5.  The two actually fight until the 18th minute of the match with no further pin or submission attempts.  It was at that point when Hayley Hailstone came out.  She waved to the crowd and waved to Maxine who was looking on in contempt.  She turned her attention back to the match and Tempest dropped her with a DDT.  Tempest made the cover and got the 1-2-3.  Tempest Fortune retains her spot on the Ladies Top 10.  Hayley leaves allowing Tempest her time in the ring.  Maxine rolls out of the ring holding her neck and with a quivering lip snarl, she makes her way to the back.  (19 min)

Backstage, Leslie Grimes says she’s waited a long time for this match and now it’s her time to shine.  She tells Violet to get that belt all nice and polished as she’s taking it home tonight.

The first of our main events is ready to begin.  First, the 5th Column (Baron von Blood, Karl Braun & Oswald Zimmerman) make their way out to major booing from the crowd.  They flip off the fans and hurl lots of insults at them as they make their way into the ring.  The music changes and out comes the 6 Man Champions Biceps Bannerman and the Steel Curtain.  The fans pop HUGE for them.  They make their way down to the ring and get right into it.  The ref then announces that this match will be a No DQ match.  The participants all look on in confusion but then it’s back to normal.  After the first minute of the match, it was all the champs - but maybe it was because of the appearances of the Snake Pit and the Muscles Trio – both teams have issues with the Column.  They surrounded the ring to ensure the Column didn’t go anywhere and that played in the champs favor.  In the last minute of the match, Baron confronted the Snake Pit and ended up on the receiving end of a triple fist punch.  On the other side of the ring, the Muscles Trio and pulled Karl off the apron and triple powerbombed him through a table.  Oswald was left all alone and after Starbuck hit him with the Out of this World dropkick, it was over.  Starbuck made the cover and got the 3 count.  The champs retain their belts.  Oswald rolled out of the ring as the Pit and Trio entered.  The 3 teams all vied for the next title match.  The champs left as the Pit and Trio argued in the ring as who would be next.  Eventually everyone left.  (10 min)

Ladies Champion Violet Valkyrie says that Leslie may be the one getting a title match tonight but she is not the top contender.  Violet puts over Hayley Hailstone and Tempest Fortune as top in the division but it’s not up to her to decide the who and when.  She is going to stay on the ride for as long as it lasts.  Before leaving, she looks at the camera and tells Maxine “Watch what this ‘soccer mom’ can really do.”  She then leaves.

It’s time for our main event.  First, Leslie Grimes comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  She’s not a total heel but they are surely saving their applause for the next person to come out from behind that curtain.  When she does, Ladies Champion Violet Valkyrie gets one of the loudest pops of the night.  She high fives the fans as she makes her way down to the ring.  She gets in and climbs each of the 4 turnbuckles posing for the crowd and holding her title high.  The fans become louder and louder.  She finally steps down and hands her title to the ref who holds it up showing that the title is on the line tonight.  He then turns to call for the bell to start the match.

The fans pop as Violet is handed her title and she climbs the turnbuckle once again holding it high.  Violet remained in the ring celebrating as the show came to an end.

As soon as the cameras stopped rolling, Vanilla Zombie and Maxine DeVito came out and attacked the champion.  The save came from Hayley Hailstone who was armed with a steel chair.  Violet challenged Maxine and Vanilla to a match with Hayley as her partner.  The attackers agreed and we have a non-scheduled match.

The team of Violet and Hayley controlled the pace of the match much to the dismay of Maxine and Vanilla.  Matt Preacher made his way down and immediately began giving instructions to his team.  This one didn’t go very long as Maxine used a steel chair 5 minutes into the match to hit both Hayley and Violet with.  The ref immediately disqualified Maxine and Vanilla awarding the match to Violet and Hayley.  Maxine tried to use the chair again only to have Hayley catch her with a flying dropkick.  Violet picked up the chair and Vanilla and Maxine ran off.  Hayley and Violet celebrated with the fans before departing.

That’s it for this show.  Stay tuned as things will be heating up to our supershow in 1 week.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #772 – Phoenix Heat (5/22)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  Things are really heating up (no pun intended) between World Champion the Banker and Phoenix GM Master Bull.  In the main event, we will see Davis ‘the Hoff’ Hoffmeister get his rematch for the TV title against current champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine.   We will also see some 6 Man tag team action as well as a 6 woman tag team match.

The show begins back in GM Master Bull’s office. Bull hangs up the phone and looks up with a disgusted look on his face as he sees World Champion the Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless.  The Banker tells Bull that his days are over ruining the lives of the people on the roster and when he’s done with Bull, Bull will wish he never messed with him.  Master Bull stands up and says “Don’t forget, your title is on the line when we meet.  I don’t recall ever being World Champion before but it’s an intriguing thought.”  The Banker laughs.  “Don’t make me bust a gut laughing.  You…a champion?  Never.  The only thing you’re good at doing is cleaning toilets.”  Bull gets serious.  “That mouth is going to get you into trouble.  Since you seem to have a lot of hot air, tonight you get to be in the ring and your title is on the line.  Before you get your tighty whities in a bunch, you can have your manager with you.”  The Banker sneers.  “Well, since I am the top dog here, I don’t need to stick around as I’m a main eventer.”  Bull stops him.  “Au contraire mon friar (yes he said it that way on purpose)…the main event is already in place.  You get to be the curtain jerker.  Guess what…you’re up.”  The Banker glared at him and stormed out.  Bull sat down with a satisfied look on his face.

Pyro goes off and it looks like our show will kick off with a title match – the first we can recall where the World title was the first one defended on a show.  First, the challenger Superstar Chic Monroe comes out to a pop from the crowd.  He constantly glances over his shoulder to ensure the Banker doesn’t sneak attack him again.  He gets into the ring and continues to psyche up the crowd.  The music changes and the fans boo as the World Champion the Banker comes out with his manager Ruth Heartless.  The Banker has a mic and calls (being the curtain jerker aka the first match on the card) a travesty and since he no longer has to stick around till the end of the show, as soon as he beats this Italian meathead, he’s out of here.  The Banker gets into the ring and Monroe is glaring at him.  The bell rings and this one begins.  Chic is actually the more aggressive and for the first 6 minutes of the match, he controlled the pace.  After that point, Ruth got involved providing the Banker with some words of encouragement (and maybe a foreign object) and then the match went the champs way.  After a few minutes of pounding on Chic (we still think there’s a foreign object in there), he rammed Chic shoulder first repeatedly into the turnbuckle.  He then locked in the ATM Fee armbar and Chic had no choice but to tap out or risk severe damage to his arm.  Chic slapped the mat signaling he was giving up.  The Banker released the hold but stomped Chic on the head with his boot.   Ruth came into the ring and handed the champ his title.  The Banker held the belt high before flipping the fans off and leaving.  (12 min)

Wilber Townsend is backstage and for some really odd reason, he’s wearing a mutated version of the Pennywise the Clown mask.  “There’s time to play in the funhouse but then there’s time to be serious.  I’ve been waiting for you Leon.  Fire…come walk with me.”  He then starts to laugh maniacally.  CREEEEPY!

It’s time for the next match.  First, the British Crippler, Sassy Maxine Devito and Vanilla Zombie all make their way out to the ring. They are all booed as they saunter down to the ring.  Vanilla though takes her time and just stares at the fans as she makes her way to the ring.  Once in the ring, the music changes and the fans pop huge as Tempest Fortune, Hayley Hailstone and the Ladies Champion Violet Valkyrie all make their way to the ring. They all interact with the fans on their way down.  The heels (bad gals) in the ring motion for their opponents to join them.  The 3 faces (good gals) enter the ring with gusto and their opponents bail out of the ring.  Violet, Tempest and Hayley all climb the turnbuckles and the fans pop huge for them.  Now it is their turn to plead for their opponents to come back in the ring and get this match started.  They finally do and the bell rings starting this one off.  For the first 5 minutes of the match, the heels pounded on Violet until Hayley and Tempest had enough and began to clean house.  Violet made the hot tag to Tempest who ended up dropping the British Crippler with a DDT.  She went for a pin but only got a 2 count.  Maxine spent most of her time on the floor feigning (faking) an injury.  She “recovered” enough to help her team triple team the champ though.  After Vanilla Zombie got tagged in, she hit Tempest with the Soul Crusher but instead of going for a pin, she threw her over to tag the champ in.  Violet hit the ring like wildfire but Vanilla and the British Crippler double teamed her.  The Crippler hit a piledriver and went for the pin but Hayley made the save.  Just as Hayley was being sent out of the ring by the ref, Maxine snuck around (see, I knew that injury was phony) and attacked Hayley slamming her head into the ringside barrier.  She then handcuffed Hayley to the barrier effectively taking her out of the match.  Maxine then pulled Tempest off the apron and Tempest’s head hit the mat and she fell to the floor.  Back in the ring, the British Crippler tagged Vanilla Zombie back in and reversed an Exploder Suplex and dropped her with a chokeslam.  She went for the pin and (with a handful of tights) she got the 3 count.   Maxine gets in the ring and kicks Violet out of the ring.  The heels stand tall as the fans look on in disgust and boo the crap out of them.  Maxine smiles mockingly at the fans and the trio then leave.  The ref goes out to help Violet and Tempest and free Hayley from the handcuffs.  They were obviously pissed and they all stormed to the back. (15 min)

The Banker and Ruth are seen getting into their limo and driving away.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, the Muscles Trio (Muscles Weasley, McGuire and Thorpe) come out wearing their rainbow colored bull horns.  The goof around on the stage and get a pop from the crowd.  They make their way to the ring.  After a moment or so, their opponents the Snake Pit (Tobias, Leiton and Niven Snake) come out and before heading to the ring, they put their fists together as sort of a salute and then head to the ring.  They too get a small pop from the crowd.  They get into the ring and are all business.  The bell rings and the Muscles get in a couple of shots off the bat and then the Snake Pit took over.  They held the advantage for about 5 minutes but then consecutive triple teaming from the Muscles gave them control over the match and they actually held it for quite some time.  The Snake Pit got in some good shots and went for a few pin attempts but they fell shy of that final 3 count.  21 minutes into the match, Tobias catches Weasley with a lariat.   He got distracted when the 5th Column came out on the stage.  The Pit turned their attention to the interruption and that gave Weasley the moment he needed to catch Tobias with the Shining Wizard.  Weasley made the cover and got the 3 count.  The Muscles Trio get the win however, their win was short lived as the Column came down armed with steel chairs and attacked both the Pit and the Muscles beating them down.  Baron von Blood got on the mic and after staring at the carnage in the ring, he called out the 6 Man Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman demanding they get the next title shot.  “We’re the only ones of consequence standing so I guess this means we get the shot.”  Master Bull came out and said that he would authorize them to get the next shot however they had to leave the ring now and not attack anyone further.  Baron, Karl Braun and Oswald Zimmerman all laid down their chairs and exited the ring.  It looks like we know who’s getting the next shot at the 6 Man belts. (21 min)

Sassy Maxine DeVito is backstage.  She says its “cute” to see the little hailstone get all worked up.  She thinks about it and says she will accept a match at the Super Show but there will be a stipulation…she just doesn’t know what it will be as of yet but as soon as she thinks of it, she will let her know.

The next match begins with Leon Teremoto coming out.  The fans pop for him as he makes his way down to the ring.  He gets into the ring but before he can do anything, the lights flicker and then go out.  The fans turn on their cell phone flashlights to help illuminate.  Creepy Wilber comes out and welcomes us to the circus.  He says that what the fans see is all make believe and the real world is one scary place that no one wants to go.  He says that Leon needs to embrace the darkness and let it go. Wilber says he’ll be the guide.  He wants the match tonight to be a “Treehouse of Horrors” match and promises to unleash the viper in Leon.  He makes his way to the ring.  Leon looks concerned.  Wilber gets in the ring and removes his creepy mask.  He immediately goes after Leon beating him down.  Leon gets in a few shots but ends up succumbing to the onslaught.  Wilber finally ends the match after hitting the Go To Sleep.  Wilber gets the 3 count and the win.  Wilber picks up Leon and the lights flicker and go out again.  They come on a few seconds later and both Leon and Wilber are gone.  Uh Oh.  (11 min)

Davis Hoffmeister is backstage.  He says at the PPV, he fought the toughest opponent he’s ever faced and that night, Drew the Canadian Love Machine defeated him.  That night, he was the better man.  Tonight will be different however.  He has watched the tapes and studied Drew when he was the World Champion, the US Champion, co-holder of the Tag Team titles and recapped it with their PPV match.  Davis says he has the formula to regain what he lost.  Tonight, he and Drew face off again and the outcome will be different.

We are back at the ring and standing in the ring is Tommy Lightning.  Tommy says that the Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman keep hiding from him and the Smashers and are just afraid of losing.  He says that he’s tired of being overlooked by management so he’s here in the ring now demanding a match.  He doesn’t care who he fights.  Just then, we hear over the loudspeakers “Gumbo 7:30 means its suppa time, bitch” and out comes the Ragin Cajun Rad Gumbo alongside his manager Ms. Alexandria.  He gets a pop from the crowd and makes his way down to the ring.  Tommy is yelling at him to get in the ring and fight him like a man.  Rad obliges.  This was a short one.  Tommy went for an underhook suplex but Rad nullified it.  He then hit Tommy with a Cottonmouth Clutch and then locked in the New Orleans Crab.  Tommy somehow made it to the ropes and didn’t tap.  Rad locks it in again and pulls Tommy to the center of the ring.  This time, he has no choice but to tap out.  Rad Gumbo gets the win in just 4 minutes.  The fans pop as Rad and his manager leave.  Tommy complains to the ref holding the small of his back.  He kicks the ropes a few times in frustration and then leaves.

We cut backstage with TV Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  Drew says he thanks Davis for all the kind words and thanks him for a hell of a match at the PPV but Davis is mistaken.  Tonight, Davis becomes the first victim to fall under Drew’s run as TV champion.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the challenger Davis Hoffmeister comes out to a HUGE pop from the crowd.  He interacts with the fans and then gets into the ring.  He climbs each corner turnbuckle to louder and louder pops from the crowd.  He steps down and waits for his opponent.  The music changes and the TV Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine comes out to an equally loud pop.  He comes out wearing the title and raises his arms as pyro goes off behind him.  He takes the title off and walks down to the ring.  He puts the belt over his shoulder and climbs into the ring.  He stands in the middle of the ring and holds his title high.  He stands in the middle of the ring and stands face to face with Davis.  The two shake hands but don’t release.  They stare at each other for another moment and then release and step back to their respective corners.  Drew hands the title to the ref who holds it up signaling the belt is on the line.  He turns and calls for the bell to start the match. The match began slow as the two competitors sized each other up.  After 9 minutes, the niceties ended and the gloves came off.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #771 – Tacoma Thunder (5/19)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  It was a brazen move on the part of the World Champion the Banker to throw out the challenge he did.  The Banker’s challenge is basically putting his career on the line against Master Bull’s run as GM.  Master Bull has pretty much accepted the challenge and for something this huge, it will be scheduled for our 775th Supershow that will take place here in Tacoma on June 2nd.  The Banker demanded neutral ground and that is why it will be in Tacoma vs in Phoenix.

Pyro goes off and the show is ready to go.  The cameras and the spotlights zoom over the audience and we see some new signs that the fans have brought with them today:

“Wicked Prophet:  No 420 for you”

“420:  the day the preaching died”

“Wicked Prophet is no better than Apollo Gyze”.  Ouch, that was a zinger!

The show begins with Hardcore Champion Apollo Gyze in GM Max McGillicutty’s office.  Apollo laughs saying that Nix isn’t in his league but if he wants a shot at the big dog, he can give it a try.  Apollo leaves.

Our first match is ready to go.  First, Shawn ‘Abs of Stone’ Austin comes out to booing from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and taunts the fans until the music changes and out comes Scooter J to a huge pop from the crowd.  He makes his way down to the ring and Shawn charges at him making Scooter J take a step back.  Shawn laughs calling Scooter J a coward.  Once the bell rang, it was all Scooter J.  Shawn got in a couple of good licks but it never amounted to much.  The longer the match went on, the more apparent it was that SJ was just toying with him.   He finally looked up at the clock and saw that less than 60 seconds remained.   Shawn hit him from behind with some power forearms but SJ then whalloped him with the 10 punches.  Shawn dropped to the mat.  Scooter J made the cover and got the 3 count seconds before the time limit was going to run out.  Scooter J gets the win and receives a nice pop from the crowd.  He leaves.  Shawn eventually gets up shaking his head.  He tried to complain that Scooter J used closed fists but the ref shook his head and left.  Shawn left after much taunting from the crowd. ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher is backstage.  He says he has two of his charges in matches tonight.  Vanilla Zombie gets to go all wacky on her opponent and the Hardcore Champion Apollo Gyze will have a match but it will not be for the title.  A comment was made that Apollo hasn’t been his vocal self for some time.  Preacher said that Apollo finally has his head on straight and knows he doesn’t have to pander to the crowd as some schmucks do.  Apollo gets to stretch his legs and continue to prove his dominance in the sport.  Preacher then walks off.

Our next match is ready to go.  First, Sarona Reiher makes her way out to a small pop from the crowd.  She tries to get the crowd psyched up but as soon as her opponent’s music hit, they began booing.  ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher comes out first and is followed by Vanilla Zombie.  The duo are booed as they make their way down to the ring.  As soon as the bell rang, Sarona went on the offensive and for some reason, it seemed Vanilla wasn’t putting up that much of a fight.  7 minutes in, Preacher motioned to Vanilla and she dropped Sarona with the Soul Crusher but she didn’t go for the pin.  Instead, she stood over her and motioned for her to get up.  As soon as Sarona made it to her feet, Vanilla hit her with a choke slam.  She immediately made the cover hooking the leg (and tights for good measure) and got the 3.  Vanilla Zombie gets the win.  Preacher joins her in the ring and gets on the mic calling out the Ladies Champion Violet Valkyrie.  Preacher says that with her win tonight, Vanilla should be at the top of the leaderboard.  He tells Violet to stop hiding and give Vanilla Zombie the title shot she deserves.  Vanilla and Preacher leave shortly thereafter.  (8 min)

Backstage, Scooter J tells the Jacks they better enjoy those belts while they have them.  As soon as they get their rematch, the belts are coming back to him and TNT.

Our third match of the evening is ready to go.  The fans pop as Texas Wildfire’s music hits.  This guy is sooo over with the fans.  He shakes hands with the fans and makes his way around the ring to acknowledge those sitting at ringside.  After making his lap, he gets in the ring and climbs the turnbuckle.  The fans pop louder.  Just then we hear “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” over the loudspeakers and out comes the Hardcore Champion Apollo Gyze and his manager ‘the Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher.  The duo are booed as they make their way down to the ring.  Apollo doesn’t waste any time and gets into the ring and demands a mic.  He says that all the wannabes in HCW want a shot at the ‘big dog’ (we assume he means himself) and tonight, he begins his path to glory.  Today he is the Hardcore Champion; tomorrow, the World.  The bell rings and this one is off.  The two traded control of the match however it was Texas Wildfire who attempted most of the pin attempts.  Apollo wasn’t giving it his all as the title was not on the line but he continued to shake off ring rust.  Apollo then hit TW with a triple powerbomb but he didn’t go for the pin.  He was distracted by none other than Nix Anderson.  Nix came out and sat on stage and began playing his ukulele.  Apollo sneered at him and then turned his attention back to the ring.  Texas Wildfire then hit a hangman’s clothesline and he rolled Apollo up for the pin.  Preacher yelled trying to distract the ref but it did no good.  The ref’s hand hit the mat 3 times and with that, Texas Wildfire gets the win.  Preacher slides in to the ring with a chair trying to go after Wildfire but TW rolled out and smiled and made his way to the back.  He passed by Nix but the two didn’t acknowledge each other.  Nix stands up and smirks at Preacher and then turns and walks away.  Apollo woke up with a “wha happened?” and Preacher helped Apollo to his feet and the two made their way to the back. (15 min)

‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo is in the house.  He makes his way out and gets into the ring.  He addresses the crowd telling them that he has the Banker’s number and as soon as he’s ready, he is coming after the World Title once more.  The fans pop as the Cajun leaves the ring.

Our next match is ready to go.  First, Matches Malone comes out to booing from the fans.  He begins flicking match sticks at them which makes them more irate.  He laughs and mocks them.  He gets into the ring and begins showboating.  His self-celebration comes to an end when Maximillian Redbeard comes out to a surprisingly loud pop from the crowd.  He too seems a bit surprised and acknowledges by high fiving the fans as he makes his way to the ring.  Malone, not wanting to be upstaged, attacked Redbeard before he got into the ring prompting the ref to start the match early.  Redbeard had the advantage early on but a cheap shot by Matches turned the match to his favor.  He used a combination of power and speed to keep the big man off his feet.  At the 11 minute mark, Matches removed the turnbuckle cover unbeknownst to the ref and then smashed Redbeard’s head into the exposed brackets.  Redbeard fell back into the ring but Matches took his time in going for the pin.  He mocked the fans some more and then made the lazy cover.  The ref counted 1…2…and Redbeard POWERED out shoving Matches off of him.  Malone was shocked.  He tried to do something only to eat a Knoggin’ Stomp from Redbeard.  Maximillian makes the cover (he hooked the leg) and got the 1-2-3.  Redbeard has his arm raised in victory.  Malone rolled out of the ring grumbling and stumbled his way to the back.  Maximillian stayed and interacted with the fans for a few minutes before also departing.  (12 min)

Hayley Hailstone is being interviewed and she calls out Maxine DeVito.  She says Maxine is a thorn in her side and she keeps costing her matches.  She would have gotten a title shot but Maxine keeps ruining her chances.  She thinks that she and Maxine need to settle it once and for all in the ring.  If Maxine accepts, they can do this at the Supershow in a couple of weeks.

The action continues back in the ring with our next match.   The Crocodile Hunter comes out first to a pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changed and we hear the horrible rendition “Ice Dagger Baby” (a bad version of Ice, Ice Baby).  Ice Dagger is booed as he comes out and he flips off the fans as he makes his way down to the ring.  He gets into the ring totally ignoring Croc and insults the fans even more.  Early on, Dagger and Croc traded controlling the match but Dagger cheated his way to controlling the majority of the match.  As the match progressed, Croc began battling back and much to ID’s dismay, he began to dominate Dagger.  Fortunately for Ice Dagger, Croc didn’t hit full stride until the last minute of the match however it was not enough to allow him to go for a pin as the bell rang bringing this one to a draw finish.  Ice Dagger left before he got embarrassed any further.  Croc interacted with the fans before leaving.  (20 min draw)

Backstage, the World Tag Team Champions Mean Jack and Angry Jack are being interviewed.  They say that tonight, with their first title defense, they begin the path to being the most dominant tag team in the history of HCW.  Angry Jack says he’s not happy that the Steel Curtain took them to a draw.  Mean Jack says that there are questionable motives at play and they need to be the ones righting the wrongs.  Angry Jack tells Scooter J and TNT to stay out of their business tonight.  Mean Jack says that they are taking out their frustrations on the Hubers tonight. Mean Jack warns the entire roster to steer clear of them.

It’s time for our main event.  Butch and Ferb Huber come out first and get a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, the Tag Team Champions the Jacks come out and the fans boo the crap out of them.  The champs flip the fans off without a second thought.  They hold their titles high as they march down to the ring.  They get in and hold the titles in the faces of their challengers.  The Jacks look at each other and then drop the belts attacking the Huber Clan.  The Jacks took early advantage of the match but as it went on, they continued to dominate and towards the end of the match, they were not taking the Hubers seriously.  20 minutes into the match, Butch hits Mean Jack with a suicide dive to the floor.  Before exiting the ring, he managed to tag Angry Jack in.  Mean Jack and Butch Huber were on the floor but slow to get up.  Angry Jack stood on Ferb’s throat and then went for the pin getting the 1-2-3.  Angry Jack and Mean Jack retain the titles in a 22 minute match.  Mean Jack rolls back in the ring and Angry Jack hands him one of the belts.  The two stand tall in the ring as the fans boo from the outside.  The show comes to an end with the champions smirking.

That’s all for today.  Stay tuned…more to come.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #770 – Phoenix Heat (5/15)

Hello wrestling fans and welcome back to our Phoenix Heat show.  Pyro goes off and our show gets right down to business.  Music plays and out comes former TV champion Davis ‘the Hoff’ Hoffmeister.  The fans pop huge for him.  He waits for his moment and then thanks the fans for always being in his corner.  He then congratulates Drew the Canadian Love Machine for being the ‘better man’ at the PPV.  Davis then gets serious.  “Drew, the TV Champion is always in the public eye.  He must be at the top of his game all time.  I was just a hair off mine and it cost me the title.  Now, I’m not one to cry over spilled milk but after a very successful run, I think that the fans as well as I would like to see a rematch.”  The fans pop huge.  “Drew, I am officially invoking my rematch clause.  In one week, I will want my rematch.  I know you’re itching to get back in the ring just as I am.  We’ve both had time off to heal and be ready.  The best man WILL win, I guarantee it.”  The fans pop once more and Davis leaves the stage.

We cut back to the office of GM Max McGillicutty.  He is with the World Champion the Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless.  The Banker wants to know why he’s been “summoned” and complains as to why he needed to listen to that manure that Davis was just shoveling. “I should have gone out there just to shut him up.”  Master Bull stared at him until the Banker stopped speaking and then spelled it out for him. “It doesn’t matter who was holding the title, today, the World title is being defended.”  Ruth leans over and asks “And just who is getting this title match, huh?  Not that tamed Cajun for sure.”  Ruth and the Banker laughed.  Master Bull stood up. “If you’re done interrupting me, I was going to have it be Starbuck Steel however the Steel Curtain is in tag team action tonight so instead, you get ‘Superstar’ Chic Monroe.” The Banker and Ruth look at each other…and laugh hysterically.  “Oh come on, that is the best you’ve got?  Well, if I must, I must but I have to say Master Bull, it’s apparent that you don’t know how to make a match.”  They looked at Bull and he was not laughing.  “You know, it just occurred to me that for your match against Rad Gumbo, you added a stipulation that his manager could not be at ringside.  So, maybe to make this ‘fair’, Ruth, you are banned from ringside tonight AND if anyone comes to your “aid” Banker, you will be stripped of the title.”  The Banker and Ruth were speechless.  “And THAT is how you make a match and now get out of my office!”  The Banker and Ruth left without another word.

Pyro goes off once again and our show is ready to get things moving.  As was announced in Tacoma, the Axe has traded brands and has moved to Phoenix.  The show kicks off with the Axe making his way out.  The fans pop for him and chant “Welcome Axe”.  He makes his way down to the ring and he’s apparently got a match right off the bat.  He begins to psyche up the crowd but then the music changes and on the Omegatron, we see a powder keg with a lit fuse and then the keg explodes with a loud BOOM.  Bob ‘Powder’ Keg makes his way out and the fans boo him.  He nonchalantly walks down to ringside and enters the ring.  The Axe felt like he let the fans down in losing to Dr. Red Fang so he turned the intensity up… maybe a few degrees too high.  He totally dominated Bob keeping his offense to a minimum.  After 10 minutes, Bob was practically out on his feet so Axe started to have some fun.  Axe then hit Bob with two consecutive Axes but he didn’t go for the pin.  Finally, he locked in a side headlock and took Bob to the mat.  He made the cover and got the 3 count…from a headlock.  The fans popped as Axe is victorious in his return match to the Heat roster.  He leaves high fiving the fans.  Bob is eventually helped up and taken to the back. (16 min)

Roderick Rothchild is backstage being interviewed.  He says that with the Ambassador moving to Tacoma   with Fang, they mutually decided to bring their partnership to an end.  He wishes the Ambassador all the best and is ready to make a name for himself on his own.

The next match is ready to begin.  First, Terra Ryzing comes out and the booing is loud.  He makes his way down to the ring and sneers at the crowd all the while tossing his blond hair like a narcissist.  The music changes and the fans pop huge as Leon Teremoto (fully healed and medically cleared) comes out.  The fans give him a warm welcome and he soaks it in.  He then makes his way down to the ring slapping hands with the fans.  He gets in and climbs the turnbuckle.  The fans pop gets louder.  He takes off his jacked and this one is ready to go.  Leon makes short work of Terra limiting him to only 4 offensive moves.  After whipping Terra into the corner multiple times, he locked in the Gorilla Hug and Terra almost immediately tapped out.   Leon gets the dominating win in his return match and the fans couldn’t be happier.  Terra leaves and out comes Anthony ‘Static’ Boom.  Anthony joins him in the ring and the two talk about their time off healing all those nagging injuries.  Anthony says that the two of them should be getting shots at the US title – Leon as a top contender and he for his rematch but before that goes down, they both have some unfinished business with Preacher’s lackeys – Apollo Gyze and the Wicked Prophet.   Leon thinks it may actually be a good idea for them to team up and Anthony agreed.  A challenge is issued and I guess we’ll see if Apollo and the Wicked Prophet are man enough to accept.   Anthony then says that since he’s out here in the ring, he might as well stay here as his match is up next.

Anthony Boom remains in the ring and his opponent ‘Rowdy’ Roderick Rothchild comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  They’re not booing him too bad but some fans are happy he ditched the Ambassador who was doing nothing for his career. Roderick gets into the ring and extends a hand to Anthony.  Anthony looks around and shakes it.  Roderick then kicks him in the gut starting this one off.  Roderick’s underhanded shot didn’t last too long as Anthony fought back taking the match to him.  For almost 13 minutes, the match was pretty close.   Roderick began choking Anthony on the ropes and Anthony took him down with a tilt a whirl arm drag followed by a fireman’s carry.  Rothchild stumbled to his feet and Anthony took him down again with the tilt a whirl arm drag.  He immediately went for the pin and got the 3 count.  Anthony Boom gets the win.  Roderick rolls out of the ring and Leon (who was sitting at commentary) entered.  Leon raised Anthony’s arm and the two of them left the ring.  (17 min)

Backstage, the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel).  Buzz says that tonight, they get the Tag Team Champs in the ring and will show them what it means to be in there with the best.  Starbuck nods and leans over and says “Word”.  The duo then head to the ring.

We head to the ring for the next match.  First, out comes ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito.  The fans boo her as she makes her way down to the ring but she doesn’t care.  Once in the ring, she gets on the mic saying that she was in town to watch a Cubs game and instead has to deal with the filth that is Phoenix instead. This got the fans riled up and she laughs.   The music changed and out comes Kimberly Kiccsass who heads to the ring to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  She gets into the ring and gets into Maxine’s face.  The two jaw jack and then the shoving starts.  The ref separates the two briefly and then starts the match.  Before the two squared off, Hayley Hailstone came out from the back.  Maxine looked put off.  The match began and Kimberly totally kicked ass.  She only let Maxine get in two moves.  Hayley began laughing at Maxine.  Kimberly locked in a rear chin lock but Maxine rolled her over and hooked the tights.  She had the leg locked and the ref counted to 3.  Maxine steals a win and rolls out of the ring laughing.  She walks over to Hayley with a smug look on her face and smiles with a scrunched up face.  Hayley rears back and starts peppering Maxine with lefts and rights.  The two end up brawling all the way to the back.  (6 min)

We cut to a prerecorded video from the new World Tag Team Champions – Mean Jack Mason and Angry Jack Lawson.

Mean Jack is, as always, with Angry Jack, clutching his newly won World Tag Team Title belt.

MJ: Look what we've done, my Angry friend. Look what we've done!

Now he points the belt toward the camera.

MJ: In just a few short months, we've become the World Tag Team Champions. But we don't care about its heritage or past champions. All the Jacks care about...is NOW we get even more play things.

Mean Jack begins laughing maniacally before slowly quieting down.

MJ: Scooter J, TNT, you didn't even think we were contenders. Do we look like contenders now?

AJ:  Let the competition step up…we’ll knock you back down.  Sounds to me like the Steel Curtain want a shot.

MJ:  Sure but they have to earn the title match; tonight, they get us and we won’t hold back.

Kicking off the next match, Buzz and Starbuck Steel make their way out to a huge pop from the fans.  They shake hands with them as they work their way to the ring.  The roll under the bottom rope and each climbs a turnbuckle getting the crowd psyched up for the match.  The music abruptly changes and out comes the World Tag Team Champions Mean Jack Mason and Angry Jack Lawson.  The fans boo and the Jacks flip them off as they head down to the ring.  They get into the ring and hold the titles high and then flaunt them in front of Buzz and ‘Buck.  They lay the titles on the outside and get ready for the match to begin.  The Curtain take the offensive and for 11 minutes, they totally owned the match.  12 minutes in, Angry Jack is put through a table by the Curtain.  He is out for 10 minutes but that didn’t seem to matter as Mean Jack put it into high gear and dominated by himself.  He threw the Curtain around like a rag dolls.  By the time Angry Jack was well enough to get back in the ring, Mean Jack had made minced meat out of their opponents.  25 minutes in, Mean Jack drops Buzz with a short clothesline.  He goes for the pin but Starbuck makes the save.  Then both teams hit the ring and slugged it out with the fans cheering them on.    Mean Jack takes control and plants Buzz with a powerbomb.  He makes the cover but Starbuck makes the save.  Angry Jack gets tagged in.  Buzz hits him with the Buzzer but Angry Jack hits an Angry chokeslam.  He goes for the pin but Starbuck once again makes the save.  Starbuck throws Angry Jack to the other side of the ring and pulls Buzz to his corner.  He makes the tag in and hits Lawson with the Buck U.  Angry Jack hits him with the angry chokeslam and goes for the pin getting a 1 count. The bell then rings bringing this one to a time limit draw.   The champs totally owned this match and the Curtain rolled out of the ring to avoid further confrontation.   The champs stand tall holding their titles as the fans boo.  The champs eventually leave.  (30 min draw)

The World Champion the Banker is with his manager Ruth Heartless backstage.  The Banker is furious that his manager is not allowed at his side to coach him to another victory.  The Banker calls GM Master Bull a bully and someone who has a blatant disregard for talent.  Master Bull walks into the picture and tells the Banker to say that again but this time to his face.  The Banker confronts the GM and holds the World title in his face but doesn’t say anything.  Master Bull snickers and says “That’s what I thought.  On second thought, go ahead and take your manager to ringside.  If you lose tonight, you are FIRED.”  Bull walks away.  The Banker’s lip curls and they head to the ring.

It is time for our main event.  First, Superstar Chic Monroe comes out to a pop from the crowd.  He barely makes it into the ring when the music changes and out comes the World Champion the Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless.  The duo head right down to the ring and the Banker attacks Chic before the bell.  He throws him out of the ring and follows him out. He then picks up Chic and powerbombs him through the Spanish announce table.  Chic is out.  The Banker gets back in the ring and issues a challenge. “I’ve been told that if I lose my match tonight, I am out.  What better way than to put my foot up the @SS of our illustrious GM.  Bull, tonight I challenge you.  I will put my title up against your control of the Phoenix Heat show.”  “Oohs and Ahhs” came from the crowd and they popped with Master Bull came out.  Bull said that he is not a wrestler but he would entertain getting in the ring for one match….but that will not be tonight.  He said that the Banker has a set on him and has the gall to call out the guy who pays his check.  “You may have taken out the person who was supposed to be your opponent but that doesn’t mean you are off the hook.  You will defend the title tonight against this man.”  Suddenly, over the loud speakers blares “GUMBO 7:30 SAYS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” and out comes ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo accompanied by his manager Ms. Alexandria.  The Banker says he already defeated Gumbo and the only match Gumbo gets is a non-title one.  Bull says “Fine but if he defeats you tonight, he gets the next title match.”  The Banker agreed.

The Banker immediately attacks Gumbo and controls the match for the first few minutes and after dropping Rad with a Withdrawl powerslam, he went to have words with Ms. Alexandria.  The ref turned to check on Rad and Ms. Alexandria slapped the Banker in the face where the sound of that slap was heard all the way to the back of the building.  Gumbo got up and locked the Banker up with the Cottonmouth Clutch.   He then threw the ‘Where ya at’ quick jabs before dropping the Banker with a right cross.  The Banker got up and hit a Tax Audit turnbuckle thrust.  Ms. Alexandria then distracted the Banker which allowed Rad to hit him from behind and hit the Crawdad Crunch.  He rolled the Banker up and got the 1-2-3.  (8 min) The fans pop as Rad Gumbo gets the win and has his arm raised.  The Banker and Ruth grabbed the title and briefcase and made their way to the back cursing Gumbo.

The show ends with Rad in the ring getting pops from the crowd.  Stay tuned as things are beginning to get interesting.
