Editors note: In April of this year, there was an early morning and I couldn't go back to sleep. I took to my computer and just started typing and with that, the game and results were back.
Wrestling Newsletter Year 4 (2009)_4.1
Well wrestling fans, it appears that I was not able to keep up my end of the bargain and stay on top of the wrestling newsletter as I had hoped. In fact, we have been out of touch since 2007 so our wrestlers went to other “low end” federations such as the WWE and TNA so that they could make some money. Unfortunately for us, we just didn’t pursue anything on our end. We have some news to pass along regarding a former employee who has recently passed away, an update on our new 2009 Hall of Fame Inductees and a brief note about our upcomming PPV (eventually).
It is with sad heart that we mourn the loss of Andrew “Test” Martin. Andrew was battling some demons in his personal life and we had hoped he was able to best them but alas, he like so many before him, succumbed to them. We offer his family and friends our deepest condolences.
For the 2009 Hall of Fame, we now add Test, Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Rock and Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat to that list. In addition, we are also adding a “family” category to honor the whole family and what they have contributed to the world of professional wrestling. For 2009, we induct the Von Erich, Hart and Funk families. Kevin Von Erich accepted the honor for his family; Bret Hart for his, and Terry Funk for his. We have also created a “Lifetime Achievment” category for those few wrestlers who have been around what seems like forever and are still actively wrestling or have recently retired. To this group we honor “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Abdullah the Butcher and the Undertaker. We thank you for years of entertainment. There are many tag teams who have shaped and changed the world of professional wrestling. Two such tag teams are honored in our “Stable” section and those include The Four Horsemen and the Fabulous Freebirds. The original 4 members of the Horsemen (Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson and Tully Blanchard) along with JJ Dillon accepted the honor (which included all members who were ever considered a Horseman) and Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts accepted the award for the Freebirds.
It had been decided that the performers who last held their belts in 2007 would indeed retain those belts until such time that we can set up matches for them to defend them against. As a recap, here is a list of those champions:
Undisputed Heavyweight Champion: Kurt Angle
HWF Heavyweight Champion: Booker T
HWF IC Champion: Edge
HWF X-Division Champion: Jay Lethal
HWF North American Champion: Jeff Jarrett
CSWA Heavyweight Champion: John Cena
CSWA US Champion: AJ Styles
CSWA TV Champion: MW3
CSWA Cruiserweight Champion: MVP
World Tag Team Champions: Donnie B & The Negronomicon
The following matches will eventually take place at the next PPV.
Booker vs. Viscera
Edge vs. Charlie Haas
Jay Lethal vs. Tommy Dreamer
Jeff Jarrett vs. Samoa Joe (replacing Hardcore Holly)
John Cena vs. Christian Cage (rematch)
AJ Styles vs. Santino Marella
MW3 vs. Shawn Michaels
MVP vs. Rey Mysterio (replacing Senshi)
Donnie B and Negronomicon vs. Chavo Guerrero and Paul London
The Super Warrior was inadvertanly left off of the draft. OOPS. Sorry about that. SW will make an appearance at the PPV taking on John Morrison.
The next PPV is shaping up to be a huge one so we plan on making this a multi-day event.
We will also be doing a battle royal with all members from the roster competing for a “Money in the bank” title match which will allow the winner to get a shot at any title (except the Unified Championship) of their choosing.
Scott and Rick Steiner vs. the Hardys to determine the next challenger to the Tag Team titles.
The HWF world champion will also go 1 on 1 with the CSWA champion for the opportunity to meet Kurt Angle for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship.
Another potential match being talked about is Kane vs. Abyss. These two monsters would surely put on a great show. We will have to see where this one takes us.
Also, in an epic battle never before seen, the Undertaker will take on Sting. The winner of this match will then issue an open challenge for the HWF Heavyweight Title.
Also, not one wanting to sit out, Kurt Angle has issued a challenge to HHH. HHH has accepted.
More to come…….
