Hello wrestling fans and welcome to our 4th installment of the 2009 Wrestling Newsletter. In this issue, we will recap the results from the Mega PPV known as “Bad Blood” and “Last Man Standing”. Without further ado, let’s get started.
The PPV started off with an appearance of none other than “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Flair came down and stated that at the next PPV – which of course will be “Wrestlemania”, he will have his final match. He has not picked an opponent as of yet but has narrowed the list down to 4 people. He is asking the fans to pick his opponent for him. Ric says that his dream match would be against Arn Anderson. AA was there for him at all times and feels this would be a great end to a career. Arn comes down and after a tearful embrace in the ring, Arn takes the mic and reminds everyone and Ric that due to a bad back for years, he could never set foot in the ring again. Arn embraces Ric again before heading to the back. Ric says another great competitor would be none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin comes to the ring. He proceeds to remind Ric of his severe neck problems and said “if I can’t wrestle you, at least I can give you a toast.” He calls for 3 beers and offers one to Flair. They toast, Austin smashes the 2 remaining cans and downs the beer. He starts to leave and then turns around and flips off Flair. He says he’s just kidding, embraces Ric and then leaves. Ric then says that he wants to call down 4 men whom he would like to offer this monumental challenge to. He calls down Shawn Michaels, HHH, Batista and Terry Funk. All 4 men come down and each take their turn on the mic stating how they are unworthy of such an event. When it was his turn, Terry reminded Ric that he was indeed older and he wouldn’t be able to keep up with the “youngster”. Ric takes the mic back and goes on to say that it would be an honor to beat any of them at the biggest PPV of the year but none seem to bite. Ric says “Somehow I knew none of you would accept. That is why I am announcing the following 9 people who I would love to wrestle in my last match.” Ric then calls out 9 men. Those men include Rowdy Roddy Piper, Sting, Kurt Angle, the Undertaker, Chris Jericho, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Abdullah the Butcher, and Ricky Steamboat. Flair says that he had some great matches with all these men and would love to end his career in a bout with any of them. Ric went on to state that of course, these men all had to agree to this. Roddy told Ric Thank you for the vote of confidence but with a bad hip, he would not be able to work the match to the expectations of the fans. Sting accepted with a howl, Kurt replied “It’s True. I accept.”, Undertaker rolled his eyes back into his head and with his music playing, dragged his thumb across his throat to show his acceptance; John Cena simply replied “It would be an honor.” Hulk Hogan replied with “Brother, any time, any where.” Abdullah simply pulled out a fork and the crowd went nuts. Finally it was Steamboat’s turn. Ricky took the mic: “Ric, I first of all want to thank you for this opportunity but as you and I both know, my best days are behind me. I would not want to go out and be unable to perform at the level the fans expect from us so I will only do this if our fans want to see one more match. I agree to be part of the voting.” Ric and the fans gave all 8 participants a standing ovation and they all filtered to the back.
We just got word that even though they were uninterested in participating in Flair’s final match, Shawn Michaels, HHH and Batista have also be added to the list. If the fans vote for them, they must wrestle. We have also been told that over 3 weeks, the voting list will be based on elimination style. This means that every 3 weeks 4 people will be dropped from the voting. The final week before Wrestlemania, the fans will have the ability to choose one person out of the final 2 the wrestler they want to have meet Flair in the ring for his final match. The first round of eliminations will take place after the 2nd day of our PPV.
Here are the results of the card so far:
The Money in the Bank Match: We actually needed 2 rings for this. It was such a mess until 75% of the people got eliminated. It was just so hard to see what was going on until you could actually see who was left. People were tossed out left and right and sometimes right on top of each other. It was actually funny to see Jeff Hardy eliminate his brother Matt by mistake. When the proverbial smoke cleared, the final 5 people in the ring were the Super Warrior, Randy Orton, Edge, John Cena and Classy Travis Massie. Massie was eliminated quickly by a Spear from Edge; Cena eliminated Super Warrior and when Cena turned to apologize to the SW, he got ousted by Orton. This left Edge against Randy. Edge delivered a spear and Randy connected with an RKO but neither one got enough of an advantage over the other. Suddenly the lights went out again and when they came back on, Edge was out cold in the ring. If you looked up the ramp right away, you saw someone running to the back shielding their face so we don’t know who it was. Randy then scooped up Edge and dumped him to the outside of the ring.
Winner: Randy Orton
The next match on the card was the Steiners vs. the Hardys. The turn of the match came when Matt turned on Jeff and walked away. Jeff was double teamed by the Steiners until the Negronomicon came out and attacked Scott Steiner causing the DQ.
Winner: Steiners by DQ
The third match on the card is Booker T. vs Big Vis for the HWF World title. The match didn’t go long as Booker was able to outwrestle the big man and got the win after a scissors kick.

Out next is a rematch of sorts for the CSWA Heavyweight title between John Cena and Christian. Christian really took the match to Cena. All Cena could do to not get his butt whupped was to get counted out of the ring.
Winner: Christian by CO.
The next match was supposed to be Edge vs. Charlie Haas but Edge didn’t appear to be in any shape to wrestle a match. Donnie B told Edge if he didn’t wrestle, he would lose the belt by forfeit. Edge, not in any shape to wrestle, found his best bud Christian and asked if he would wrestle in his place. Christian, still upset at not winning the world title, accepted.
Christian defeats Charlie Haas in less than 2 minutes. Christian goes to the back and runs into William Regal. He asks William if he would be able to issue a challenge to Edge and Regal replies “Anytime, anywhere my good man” and walks away. Christian meets up with Edge and tells him about his 2 minute match. Edge, impressed, asks Christian to continue to defend the belt for him as long as he is incapacitated. Christian says sure but he will do it as the official champion. He attacks Edge throwing him against the brick wall multiple times. He then calls for the ref who shows up and makes a 3 count.
Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Christian
The next match is Jay Lethal vs. Tommy Dreamer for the X-division title. Lethal was dressed in his Macho attire but Dreamer was ready for X-treme. Dreamer hit a nasty DDT in the middle of the ring and pinned Lethal to win the belt.
Winner and NEW X-Division Champion: Tommy Dreamer
Up next is AJ Styles vs Santino Marella for the US title. This was also a short match that saw AJ retain the title.

Our second to last match of the night is the Undisputed Champion Kurt Angle taking on HHH. This was a typical fight between these two with Kurt hitting the Angle Slam and HHH hitting the Pedigree. It was a decent match which saw Kurt Angle get the win with an Ankle lock.
Winner: Kurt Angle
The final match of the night is a battle between the titans: Bobby Lashley vs. Brock Lesnar. This match was basically run as MMA. It was decided that this match would have a 20 minute time limit with 4 5-minute rounds (similar to that in UFC). Bobby really held his own against the man who took down Randy Coutoure. Judges were present at the event and this bout ended up going the full 20 minutes. The judges were evenly split as 2 rounds were given to the UFC Champ and 2 to his challenger.
Winner: An extremely entertaining, hard fought Draw.
End of Day 1: We’ve already had tremendous response on the voting so here is how we stand as of right now:
