Hello fans and
welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat. The show begins with pyro going off and GM
Master Bull comes out. He has a mic in
hand and tells the fans that unlike King Rad Gumbo up in Tacoma, he is not going
to take up half the show with his yammering.
Bull says that he has three things to say. First, tonight we crown new 6 man tag team
champions. 8 teams will square off in 30
minute time limit matches and one team will take the belts home tonight. He says he’d had hoped that the Steel Curtain
and Biceps Bannerman could have been in this but since their loss to Graham’s
Ghouls (and the loss of the belts as well), they had to disband. Second, tonight’s main event will have
Scooter J once again challenging Texas Wildfire for the US title. Scooter J has been denied at most turns ever
since turning on the Axe and TNT but he promises that tonight, his luck
changes. We can also expect to hear
tonight who the winner of the Elimination Chamber – the Unknown Assassin - will cash his title shot in against. Finally, Bull says that at the end of the
show, he will be announcing the second inductee for the 2018 Hall of Fame. He encourages the fans to stick around for
that. He leaves as pyro goes off again
and our show is ready to go.
Our first match is ready to go and out comes the team of Talon McFrost, Wilber Townsend and Otto Ruthless. Talon is taking Scooter J’s spot as he has a title match in tonight’s main event. All 3 men are booed. Next, the 5th Column (Baron von Blood, Oswald Zimmerman & Karl Braun) come out and they too are booed but they head down to the ring. All 6 men start off shoving each other and then it breaks into an all-out brawl. It takes the ref a moment to regain control but he eventually does. Otto’s team totally took the match to the Column and (in this humble writers opinion), the team performed better than they do with Scooter J. The end came after Otto reversed a Nuremburb backbreaker and locked in a leglock. He rolled Baron von Blood up and with a foot on the ropes, he got the 1-2-3. Otto, Talon and Wilber get the win and move on in the tournament. (14 min)
Backstage, World Champion Starbuck Steel is asked if he could choose who his Critical Mass opponent would be, Starbuck replied and said he’d love to face his brother Buzz Steel. I guess we’ll have to wait to see what happens.
The next match is ready to go. The Hubers (Ferb, Butch and Junior) come out and they are booed. Next, the Muscles Trio (Muscles McGuire, Weasley and Thorpe) come out to a pop from the crowd. The entertaining trio are running around wearing their rainbow colored bull horns and have their boxes of Booty-O’s cereal. The Muscles immediately triple teamed the Huber and for 3 solid minutes, they held the advantage. The Huber then turned the tables on them and began wiping the mat with the comedic troupe. Ferb ends up hitting McGuire with a big boot but is then sent to the outside of the ring. Muscles Thorpe is on the outside and he hits Ferb with the E-Train. Ferb is not able to make it back in before the 10 count and ends up getting counted out. The Hubers may have dominated the match but now they are out. The Muscles Trio moves on. (9 min)
Manager J C Dykes and the Unknown Assassin are backstage. Dykes says that UA has made his decision on which title he was going to cash in against. First, though, they are announcing it on the grandest stage of them all – at Critical Mass. Before they can announce it, Buzz Steel walks in and says that his brother picked him, not UA, not Drew the Canadian Love Machine, HIM to fight at the PPV. Dykes says that UA has a contract. Buzz says that’s ok and he can have his match AFTER Buzz gets his. The Unknown Assassin then challenges Buzz to a match and says the winner gets the shot at the World title AT the PPV. Buzz agrees and walks off.
Our third match is underway and it seems like most of the matches have been relatively short. First, the Snake Pit (Leiton, Tobias and Niven Snake) come out and get a mixed reaction from the crowd. Next, the team of the Axe, TNT and Brick come out to the loudest pop of the night. The three waste no time and get right into the ring. The bell rings and this one is off to the races. The Snake Pit used their cunning and they owned the match. Axe, TNT and Brick all took turns taking their licks. During TNT’s beatdown, Tobias went for a Hook and Ladder Facebuster but somehow TNT reversed it and he planted Tobias with the TNT. The Axe and Brick rushed in and took out the other members of the Pit. TNT makes the cover and gets the 3 count. In what was a clear upset, The Axe, TNT and Brick get the win and they move on. (16 min)
Master Bull is back in his office and he says he won’t interrupt the show too much but wanted to add the match between Buzz Steel and the Unknown Assassin to the card tonight. The winner will take on Starbuck Steel for the World title at Critical Mass.
We head back to the ring as Ivan Dragovich, Wendell Hammerschmidt and Red McNulty are almost at the ring. Next, Ant Graham comes out (what the hell is he doing here) and he says that the illustrious King gave him not only permission to be at his teams’ side but this match will be a no countout / no DQ match. “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE” blares over the loudspeakers and out comes Dr. Red Fang, Wolfman Keg and Mason the Mangler. Graham and his Ghouls make their way down to and into the ring. The match starts off and both teams are pretty even as things go but Ivan’s team struck early with the triple teaming. Fang did manage to catch Ivan with an airplane spin and then dumped him but Ivan landed awkwardly on his leg. Ivan went for a swinging side slam but Fang neutralized it. Fang hits Ivan with the skull crusher but Ivan hits a diving headbutt. He tried to make the tag but the Ghouls pulled him back to their corner. Fang then locked in the Spider leg lock. Ivan tried to make it to the ropes but he just couldn’t make it. Ivan tapped out before his teammates could make the save. The Ghouls get the win and advance in the shortest match of the night (4 min).
Scooter J is backstage and he complains once again about having to wait for his match. He says that this time, as long as Texas Wildfire doesn’t run away like a coward, he should be victorious in his match tonight.
The Muscles Trio come out first (cheered) and they are followed by Talon, Wilber and Otto. This one was a much better fight and even though they struggled, the Muscles kept preventing pin attempts. Finally, Wilber and Otto got tired of their antics. Wilber pulled Weasley out of the ring and dropped him with the GTS. Otto pulled out Thorpe and opened up a can of Ruthless Aggression on him. That left Talon able to hit McGuire with the Cold Stone in the middle of the ring and secure the 1-2-3. Wilber, Otto and Talon move on to the finals. (25 min)
Texas Wildfire is backstage and he says that Scooter J will whine and complain about a splinter in his finger. Everyone on the roster wants Scooter J to SHUT THE HELL UP! TW says he will make that happen tonight.
Ant Graham leads the Ghouls down to the ring first and they are eventually followed by Axe, TNT and Brick. The Ghouls attack at the behest of Graham. This one was close with Axe tearing through his opponents but after Graham offered some encouraging words (and some foreign objects), the Ghouls battled back. 26 minutes in, Axe makes the hot tag to Brick and Mason makes the tag to Wolfman Keg. Brick goes to the ropes twice but doesn’t do anything. Wolfman Keg repeatedly kicked and stomped on Brick. He then bit Brick and in all the confusion, Keg rolled Brick up and got the 1-2-3. The Ghouls steal another win and they now advance to the finals also. Can the Ghouls regain the belts they were stripped from? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
There is no break as Buzz Steel comes out and calls for the Unknown Assassin to get his unknown ass into the ring. Dykes and UA come out and for once they opted not to wait for security. The match started quickly and UA and Dykes were stunned with the ferocity that Buzz brought. In fact, after 3 minutes, Dykes got really concerned. Concerned enough to throw a fireball at Buzz. Buzz backed away just in the nick of time to avoid getting blinded but the ref saw it all and disqualified UA. Buzz will get the shot at the World title at the PPV. UA still has his contract so he can redeem it…whenever. Dykes and UA go to leave but in from the crowd runs Phat Sol. Phat begins beating the tar out of UA causing him to run off. The fans popped for Phat’s return. (4 min for the match; 4 for the extra segment).
It’s time to crown 6 man champs. First, “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE” blares and Graham leads his Ghouls down to the ring. Talon McFrost, Wilber Townsend and Otto Ruthless follow shortly thereafter. Wilber made sure to take Graham out early. After that, Wilber and team had it easy against the Ghouls. The 6 men battled hard with everyone hitting their specialty but no one was able to score a pin. Mason accidentally bumped the ref but it only knocked the wind out of him. Otto quickly slid a chair into the ring. Finally, Wilber caught Mason and hit him with a scoop slam right on the chair. Otto pulled the chair out just as the ref recovered. He began to count 1…2….3. Talon, Otto and Wilber are the NEW 6 Man tag team champs! They celebrated briefly before getting attacked by the Ghouls. It looks like the Ghouls will get another shot at the PPV. (24 min). All 6 men fought all the way to the back.
We go backstage where Starbuck is sitting with Buzz. Buzz is being checked out but seems to be in the clear. Buzz tells Starbuck they will always be brothers but now the most prestigious title in the world is on the line and he’s pulling no punches…he wants it and will do what he has to to win it. Starbuck says he will also. The brother shake hands.
We cut to another part backstage and Dykes is irate. He’s calling for Phat Sol’s head on a platter. UA stops him and says that he wants Phat at the PPV and since Phat likes to play with chairs, it will be a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. UA turns to Dykes and tells him to make it happen.
Before the main event, we go back to Master Bull’s office. He says that the second person being inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame is none other than the Blonde Bombshell Southern Belle.
It’s time for the main event. Scooter J comes out first and he is booed pretty heavily. He gets into the ring and while flipping off the fans, he demands the Texas Wildfire make this a no countout match as he doesn’t want him running off to save his hide after SJ is done with him. The music changes and the TV champion makes his way out and as he makes his way down to the ring, he yells that he accepts. Once in the ring, he approaches Scooter J who bails out of the ring. TW says that he will agree to this stipulation but if he beats him AGAIN, that is it…no more TV title shots from him while he holds the title. Scooter J agrees but counters with an extended time limit. TW agrees and we’re finally underway with this one. Scooter J was on fire and he took the match to the champ hard. TW was getting beat down but then SJ would showboat giving TW time to recover (what a maroon). It didn’t help much as this was the best SJ has probably ever looked but his ego was his downfall. After dropping TW with a superkick, he went to the turnbuckle to once again showboat to the fans. This time though, he gave TW a few extra seconds and that is what he needed in order to hit the hangman’s clothesline and with a solid hook of the leg (not the tights), he got the 1-2-3. In the comeback match of the night, Texas Wildfire retains the TV title. Scooter J is pissed off and he storms off to the back leaving once again empty handed.
The show comes to an end with TW holding the title high and points to the overhead banner that is showcasing the Critical Mass PPV. TW doesn’t have an opponent yet but I’m sure that will happen pretty quickly.
