Hello fans and welcome back to the HCW Wrestling Newsletter. It is with a very heart that we mention that Mr. Meyers, co-contributor to the HCW universe has passed away. Everyone who is backstage is wearing black armbands with the initials J.S. on them.
GM Max
McGillicutty comes out to address the crowd.
He says that Mr. Meyers’ passing was sudden and that the impact will be
felt across the wrestling world. He then
announces that that Mr. Meyers will be the sole inductee into the HCW Hall of
Fame for 2023 posthumously. At this
time, one half of the World Tag Team Champions Starbuck Steel makes his way
out. He stops briefly to talk to Max and
the two of them make their way to the ring.
Starbuck says that he feels the impact more than anyone as he reveals
that Buzz Steel was Mr. Meyers all this time.
With this declaration, Starbuck Steel announces he will be relinquishing
the titles. He hands the titles to
Max. Starbuck leaves the ring. Max then announces a 16 team tournament will
be had to determine the new champions. The finals will be held at Critical
Mass. Those matches will begin tonight.
We start off with
the first tag team match in the tournament.
Baron von Blood and Oswald Zimmerman will take on the team of Adam
Jameson and Billy Robbins. The match
ends up going to a DRAW finish with both teams out. (20 min)
Our next Tag team
qualifying match has 2 members of the Muscles Trio (McGuire and Weasley) take
on 2 members of the Snake Pit (Niven and Tobias). After am 18 min match, the Snake Pit
advances.
Our third tag team
qualifying match has Maximillan Redbeard and Superquake Ferguson take on the
Freedom Fighters. This one also ended in
a DRAW finish with both teams eliminated. Since the winner was supposed to take on the
Snake Pit, the Pit gets a bye and advances to the semi-finals.
Starbuck Steel
shows up backstage and is interviewed.
He says the loss of his brother will be felt for a very long time
however he says his time is not finished yet in the tag division. He says he asked their frequent six man
partner Biceps Bannerman if he would fill in for Buzz during the
tournament. Biceps whole-heartedly
agrees. Starbuck states that if he and
Biceps don’t make it through, then he will leave the tag division.
Next on the card
is the final tag team qualifier for the night.
The Hubers take on the Conquistadors.
The Hubers ended up being too much for their opponents and Butch Huber
scores the win for his team allowing them to advance.
Our next match is
for the US title. The fans were
expecting the #1 contender Jack Lumber but instead got Bad News Marvin
Barnes. Barnes make his way to the ring
and while being booed, he flips the crowd off.
Next, the US Champion Wilber Townsend makes his presence known. He has a mic and says that while Jack may be
the #1 contender, he, as the champion, still makes the final decision and he
says Jack isn’t ready for him. He laughs
as the fans boo and throw junk at him as he makes his way to ringside. He briefly stops at the Lumber Lounge and
mocks the fans there. He gets into the
ring.

Wilber steals a
win with an absolute crooked ref in the ring.
This brings out Jack Lumber and he’s carrying a 2x4. The ref sees him coming and bails thinking
Jack was coming for him. Jack
immediately blasts Wilber with the 2x4 and sends him flying out of the
ring. Wilber demands a match at the
PPV. Jack agrees but says the US title
must be on the line. Wilber accepts.
It’s time for our
main event with the World Title on the line.
First, the opponent, Wildman Saturn Frost comes out to a decent pop from
the crowd. Once in the ring, the music
changes and out comes World Champion the Wicked Prophet. Prophet is booed heavily especially from the
Lumber Lounge. Prophet passes by on his
way to the ring and scoffs at them before resuming his trek. He climbs in to the ring and stands on the
corner turnbuckle holding his title high.
The fans boo heavily and he just soaks it in. He steps down and hands the championship to
the ref. He removes his jacket and the
match is ready to begin.
I don’t believe
Prophet took the Wildman very serious in the beginning of the match but the
longer it went on, the more seriously he took the match. By the time the 17 minute mark rolled around,
Prophet had the match all figured out and caught Frost with the Baptism by Fire
and scores the win. Wicked Prophet gets
the win and retains his title much to the chagrin of the fans. The show comes to an end with Prophet
standing tall on the corner turnbuckle holding the World title over his head in
a sign of superiority.
