HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2018 #685 – Phoenix Heat

Hello fans and welcome back to the next installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  As we saw in our last issue, Hardcore Hensen defeated Magnum Kone to become the NEW Hardcore Champion.  When he was asked about how he was able to accomplish such a feat, all he said was “BECAUSE I’M HARDCORE!”  Maybe his mouthpiece ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher can articulate a little better.  In good news, the interim World Champion ‘the Ragin Cajun’ King Rad Gumbo is being kept off TV today so that he can “best prepare for his match against TNT” this Sunday in Tacoma.  Frankly, he’s a huge pain in the ass and I’m sure GM Master Bull is happy he’s not here tonight.   Tonight, we have a solid card lined up with 3 individuals joining together to form a potential 6 man team – Texas Wildfire, Sonic Blade and ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger.  Tonight, they challenge the Hubers for their spot in the 6 man title lineup.  From the Ladies division, El Gato Negro and Taylor Bella will both be in action tonight against top competition.  Winding out the main event will be US Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine defending the title against Muscles Thorpe.  Pyro goes off and our show kicks off.

El Gato Negro comes out first and the fans boo her.  She snarls at them with disgust.  She climbs into the ring and pumps her arms into the air but it’s met with disdain.  Next, Jazz Emmett comes out and she power walks down to the ring.  She immediately grabs a mic and says that she’s had it with El Gato and her crappy attitude.  She says that it should be an honor wrestling in HCW and tells El Gato that if she had the stones, she’d put up or shut up.  She clarifies that she needs to use small words so El Gato can understand.  She wants El Gato to put her career on the line against hers.  El Gato tries to weasel out of it but the taunting from the fans changed her mind.  She agreed and the match begins.  Things began slow with both women circling each other in the ring.  Finally, Jazz went on a rampage and totally owned El Gato.  As much as she tried, El Gato could not keep up with the savagery that Jazz was dishing out.  Finally, Jazz was ready to end it and called for the Bankrupt Neckbreaker slam but El Gato ducked and then hit the 9 Lives.  Jazz went down and El Gato made the cover hooking the leg (and the tights).  The ref counted 1…2…3.  El Gato comes from behind and takes not only a win but Jazz’s career and her spot in the Ladies title lineup.  El Gato leaves and laughs all the way to the back.  Jazz takes a few moments with the fans before leaving for the final time.  (16 min)

We cut backstage where the Snake Pit are all sitting and talking.  Niven Snake asks Leiton why he keeps pursuing singles action when they are clearly a team and should be focusing on the 6 Man titles.  Leiton tells him that he needs to stretch his wings per se.  He says that he’s clearly exceeding expectations in the singles world and that this is his time to shine.  Niven warns him about putting himself over the Brotherhood of the Pit but Leiton reassures his brothers that once he defeats the Banker tonight, it will put the whole Snake Pit into the limelight and then they can challenge ‘Regulation’ for the belts.

Our next match is ready to go.  First, Missy Chick makes her way out to the ring to a decent pop from the crowd.  Next, Taylor Bella comes out and the fans boo the hell out of her.  She gets into the ring and says that her life is going great.  She’s getting promotions and recommendations from all over the world and not only is her wrestling career blossoming but so is her life outside the ring.  She says that she’s multi-talented and can juggle multiple things in her life.  She says that once Missy is out of the way, she’ll make a beeline for the Ladies title and it doesn’t matter if it’s Madame Jade, Ravishing Raquel or Madame Currie, she will become the champ again.  For the first 10 minutes of the match, Missy controlled the pace until Taylor hit a sitout facebuster and almost scored the pin.  After that, it was all Taylor.  Taylor would connect with hurricanranas, running kneelifts and another sitout facebuster that resulted in near falls.  As we got into the 18th minute, Missy whipped Taylor into the ropes but didn’t capitalize on it and Taylor hit a sunset flip and with a hook of the tights, got the 3 count.  Taylor Bella gets the win and is once again back in the title hunt.  She is booed as she left the ring.  (18 min)

We cut to GM Master Bull in his office and after hanging up the phone, he says that with a spot opening on his roster, he is going to take Kimberly Kiccsass from Tacoma.  She will debut in Phoenix next week.  He says that Max has a plan for Tacoma.

Our next match is ready to go.  First, Leiton Snake comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, the Banker comes out flanked by the rest of the 6 man champs – the Regulators and their manager Ruth Heartless.  The four of them are booed as they head down to the ring.  Leiton is shaking his limbs trying to loosen up.  The bell rings and Leiton begins to dominate the match.  The Regulators were warned a couple of times by the referee about interfering and if they got caught, the Banker would be disqualified.  Leiton kept the pressure on but slowly (and with Ruth’s help), the Banker began a comeback. A couple of close encounters with the Regulators forced the rest of the Snake Pit – Niven and Tobias Snake.  They came around the ring making sure the Regulators could not attack Leiton when he got thrown to the outside.  At the 15 minute mark, the Regulators climbed onto the apron but did not enter the ring.  Niven did the same on his side.  Leiton went to whip the Banker into the ropes but he reversed it and sent Leiton crashing into his partner.  Leiton exited the ring and went to check on his partner.  Niven appeared to be ok and told Leiton to get back in and finish it.  However, it didn’t get that far as Niven attacked Leiton whipping him hard into the steel steps.  Leiton went crashing into the steps (Ruth had distracted the ref while this was going on).  Niven then rolled Leiton back in and walked away.  Tobias went after him questioning what he just did.  The Banker then grabbed Leiton by the arm and locked in the ATM Fee Armbar.  Leiton tried but in the end, he had to tap out.   The Banker gets the win and he celebrates with Ruth and the Regulators as Leiton is helped to the back.

Backstage, the team of Texas Wildfire, Sonic Blade and ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger talk about the chance they are being given and tonight, the three of the can make history being the first team to ever be thrown together at the last minute and could actually win a future shot at the 6 Man titles.  TW says the three of them are great singles competitors and now, they’ll show if they can make a great team.  Sonic and Justin extend their hands out and they put one hand on top of each other’s and then yell “Go Team!”

As the next match is getting ready, Wilber Townsend makes his way out to the ring and is booed so he ignores them (those times he was getting the sympathy pop after being screwed out of the crown by Rad Gumbo must be over).  Next, the Ambassador comes out and Roderick Rothchild makes his way out accompanied by his brother Reid.  The trio walk down to the ring and as Roderick is conferring with his manager, Wilber goes on the attack but Roderick was waiting for him and totally destroyed Wilber.  With help from both the Ambassador and Reid, Roderick make relatively short work of Wilber and after choking him on the ropes, he flung him back into the ring and made the cover hooking the leg and getting the 3 count.  Roderick Rothchild gets the win.  He celebrates with his manager and Reid before the trio made their way to the back.    (18 min)

Backstage, Angry Jack and Biceps get into another altercation with Jack hitting Biceps with brass knuckles. Master Bull says that even though he wanted them to wait for the PPV, it’s clear that this can’t wait so he’s putting them on the card for next week in a brass knuckles match.

We’re ready for some 6 man tag team action.  First, Texas Wildfire, Sonic Blade and ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger come out and the fans show their appreciation for them with a very warm reception.  Once in the ring, the music changed and out comes the Hubers (Butch, Ferb and Junior),  The Hubers tried to use their size to overwhelm their opponents but TW, Sonic and Winger had great chemistry and worked surprisingly well together in their first outing.  9 minutes into the match, Winger went for a Flyin’ and Stylin’ from the top rope to the outside but Junior Huber caught him mid-air and powerslammed him through the Spanish announce table.  Winger is injured and seems to be out of the match for now.  TW and Sonic held their own and were still a force to be reckoned with.  At the 18 minute mark, Winger started to stir and looked like he was going to re-enter the ring but Junior charged at him and speared him into the ringside barrier.  Well, it looks like he’s out.  At the same time, Butch pulled Texas Wildfire out of the ring and powerslammed him on the floor taking him out of the action.  Sonic was able to hold his own and even got a 2 count on Junior after hitting him with a flying dropkick that sent Junior out of the ring (and made it back in).  At the 21 minute mark, both Winger and Texas Wildfire had recovered enough and were coming back into the action.  At the 26 minute mark, it was Sonic’s turn to get injured after Junior hit a delayed vertical suplex putting him through a table at ringside.  4 minutes later, the match is stopped after the time limit had been achieved.  The Hubers seemed happy with themselves as a draw finish allows them to retain their spot in the line up.  This brought out Master Bull who said that it was just dumb luck the Hubers didn’t lose tonight EVEN with each of their competitors, at some point, getting injured.  Bull says that he likes the cohesion between TW, Sonic and Winger and says that they will still be a team and next week, they get another shot but this time, it will be a no time limit match.  The Hubers complain but Bull ignores them.  TW and Winger help Sonic to the back.  It seems he’ll be fine.  (30 min draw)

Backstage, US Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machines cuts a promo.  In the middle of it, Jacques Beannot  walks in and says good luck and hopes to meet him sooner rather than later for that title.  Drew was a loss for words after that.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the challenger comes out and Muscles Thorpe actually comes out solo without his tag team partners.  Next, the US Champion comes out and the fans lose their shit.  Drew has to be one of the most ‘over’ wresters in all of HCW.  He enters the ring and after posing on each of the turnbuckles holding his title high over his head, he walks to the center of the ring and hands the ref the belt.  He then extends his hand to Muscles Thorpe who shakes it and our match begins.  Thorpe brought his A-Game and for the first 12 minutes of the match, we thought Thorpe was going to run away with this match but then Drew started a comeback and then owned his opponent.  Drew hit some high spots back to back and after hitting the corkscrew pescado (the move he wins most of his matches with), he went for a cover only to have Thorpe power out at 2.  Drew could’t believe it.   Drew hit two back to back arm drag take downs and went for the pin but Thorpe kicked out again.   Drew went for a handstand headscissors take down but Thrope reversed it and splashed Drew in the corner.  Drew went for the handstand headscissors again and this time he sent Thorpe flying into the opposite corner where he went over the top turnbuckle and hit his head on the steel post.  He fell back into the ring.  Drew went for the cover and got the 3 count.  Drew retains his title.  After a brief pose, he checked on Thorpe who seemed to be ok, just dazed.  Drew helps him to his feet and raises his arm in good sportsmanship.  Thorpe shakes his hand and leaves.  The show ends with Drew posing on the corner turnbuckles holding his title high.

Thanks for reading.  Be sure to tune back in as things are getting interesting as we head to our July PPV – Meltdown – which will actually take place in Phoenix on 7/4.  Be sure to order it on PPV or attend live.  Tickets are still available.
