Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder. The show begins with GM Max McGillicutty actually in the ring. He says that one of Tacoma’s own has requested to make an announcement. “Born in the USA” plays through the speakers and out comes “Dude USA” Mick Rude. Rude joins Max in the ring and requests a mic. He says he’s had a great time performing in front of the HCW crowd but with the injury he sustained a couple of weeks back, he’s begun to re-evaluate what he wants to do with his life. The fans begin to stand and cheer as they know what’s coming next. Rude then announces that he is retiring from the ring and needs to take some serious time off to recover. He looks to Max who nods and says that he’s not leaving the Tacoma crowd empty handed. He says that with Max’s approval, he has sought out and brought in his replacement. He calls him the first ever “super soldier” and introduces…Protocide! This behemoth comes out but the fans are weary. They’re not sure how to accept him. The guy is about as big as Superquake Ferguson but more muscular. He gets into the ring and shakes hands with Max and Rude. He takes the mic and says he’s all about finding new challenges in life and HCW is a great place to begin that journey. The fans pop. He tells Rude he’ll carry on his legacy but where Mick failed, he will succeed. Rude may never have won the big belt but he promises that no one will be safe…from Buzz Steel (fans pop) to the “stand in” Rad Gumbo (fans boo). He says he looks forward showing the world what he’s got. The fans pop as Max, Rude and Protocide all leave the ring.
Pyro goes off once
again and we are ready to kick off today’s show. First, making his way out to the ring is
Wendell Hammerschmidt. He is getting his
shot at the TV title tonight. Next, ‘the
Honorable’ J C Dykes comes out and is followed by the TV champion the Unknown
Assassin. The fans boo the crap out of
him. UA seems unfazed. The two make their way to the ring as
miscellaneous debris are hurled their way.
UA gets in the ring and immediately attacks Wendell. Wendell fought back
and held his own for a very impressive 14 minutes. 9 minutes in, Wendell got tired of Dykes’
constant interference and took him out.
After that, the Unknown Assassin turned up the heat and really took the
match to his opponent. At the 17 minute
mark, Dykes recovers and is back in action. After seeing Dykes back on his
feet, Wendell hits the champ with a German Suplex but a recovering Dykes clocks
Wendell with his (loaded) canteen. UA
rolled Wendell up and got the 1-2-3. The
Unknown Assassin retains his title. The
ref hands the belt to UA and Dykes raises his arm up high. The two mock the
fans from the ring and then leave. Wendell
is helped to the back. (18 min)
Jacques Beannot is
backstage and he says that he is blowing through the competition and says he’s
ready for the next challenge. “Superstar
Chic Monroe, you’re next on my list.
After that, I will have proven I’m ready for a shot at the US title held
by my good friend and mentor Drew the Canadian Love Machine. Watch out roster, it’s time for Canada’s
best!”
Lavender Gooms
makes her way out to the ring and grabs a mic.
She calls out Star Vixen challenging her for her spot. Starr comes out and the fans pop for her. Since these types of challenges cannot be
denied, she comes out ready for action. The
action begins almost immediately and for a couple of minutes, Lavender went toe
to toe with Starr however after that, Starr took off like a rocket limiting
Lavender’s offense. Panicking, Lavender
began to choke Starr in the corner.
Starr wasn’t having any of that so she leveled Lavender with a vicious
clothesline and a 2 count. She followed
it up with a hair pull and slam and went for the pin again but Lavender got her
foot on the bottom rope. Starr would go
for a couple more pins but Lavender kept kicking out. She then locked Starr in the Lavender Lock
but Starr made it to the ropes. She let
go and then locked it back on again and dragged Starr to the middle of the
ring. Somehow, Starr clawed her way to
the ropes to break the hold. Starr
rolled through a botched hurricanrana and executed a standing suplex. She had Lavender up for at least 10 seconds
before crashing to the mat. Starr made
the cover and got the 3 count. Starr
Vixen gets the win (the fans pop huge) and retains her spot in the Ladies Top
10 lineup. (15 min)
Dr. Red Fang,
Wolfman Keg and their manager Ant Graham are being interviewed. Graham complains that the Ghouls are being
discriminated against because one is a vampire bot and the other is, well, a
wolfman. He complains that everyone is
afraid of them. He is then interrupted
by the World Tag Team Champions the Desperados (El Chango and Leon
Teremoto). Leon says that Max had given
them the night off but if Graham really wants a team to take on his chumps,
they are more than willing. Dr. Red Fang
begins to snarl and El Chango gets in his face.
“Got somethin’ to say Bot?”
Graham grabs his team and they walk off. Looks like we’ll be treated to a non-title match
featuring the champs.
We head back to
the ring for our next match. First,
Jacques Beannot comes out and the fans pop for him. He makes his way to the ring and does some
poses. Next, Superstar Chic Monroe comes
out and he gets a decent reaction from the crowd. The two meet in the center of the ring and
shake hands as the bell rings starting this one off. This one was surprisingly close for the first
13 minutes of the match. After hitting
Chic with the Spreadsheet, things began going Jacques’ way and he totally owned
the match. He must have lost track of
time as the time limit was approaching quickly.
As we got into the final minute of the match, Chic tried to trip Jacques
out of the ring but he fortunately held on, jumped to the top rope and launched
himself at Chic connecting with a five arm.
He went to hook the leg but the bell rang bringing this one to a time
limit draw. Jacques was a bit
disappointed but Chic, rubbing his jaw, met Jacques in the middle of the ring
and extended his hand. Jacques told Chic
he wanted another shot next week. Chic
accepted and the two shook hands much to the delight of the fans. (20 min draw)
The interim World
Champion King Rad Gumbo makes a trip up to Washington and actually goes out of
his way to settle in Seattle at a 5 star hotel.
He tries to walk in through the door but is met by hotel security. They tell him that he’s not allowed to be
there. “Why the hell not?” Rad looks over to see Buzz sitting in the
lobby. He smiles and waves at Gumbo who
storms out of there. We hear Buzz say
“Oh, this is fun”.
Our next match is
ready to begin. The loudspeakers scream
with “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE” and Graham and his Ghouls (Dr. Red Fang and
Wolfman Keg) make their way out to booing from the fans. Fang snarls at the fans as he/it makes his
way down to the ring with his partner and manager. Next, the tag team champions the Desperados
make their way out and the fans pop huge.
Graham takes a mic before the champs enter the ring and calls them
cowards for not putting titles on the line.
El Chango tells them they haven’t earned anything however, if they can
beat them here tonight, they will give them a title shot. Graham smiles and El Chango and Leon Teremoto
enter the ring. The Ghouls put up a good
fight but the longer the match went on, the more the champs were in
control. By the time the time limit was
in view, the champs were dominating the Ghouls.
At the 29 minute mark, El Chango hits Wolfman Keg with a spinning kick and just as Leon was getting
ready to execute something, Graham jumped up on the apron yelling at the ref. Once the ref was within arm’s reach, Graham
shoved him resulting in a disqualification.
The Ghouls take the loss with the DQ but tried to attack and beat down
the champs after the bell. It didn’t
work as El Chango and Leon showed their opponents to the outside of the
ring. Graham snuck into the ring and hit
Leon from behind but it did no good. Leon
picked up Graham and threw him over his shoulder. He called for a powerslam but Fang jumped up
on the apron at the last second, grabbed Graham’s leg and pulled him to
safety. The Ghouls cursed at the champs
as they made their way to the back. El
Chango and Leon spent a few moments with the fans before also departing. (29 min; champs retain via DQ)
Backstage,
Hardcore Hensen is with his manager ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher and
he says that Magnum Chrome dome finally saw the light and is giving him a shot
at the title tonight. Preacher says that
this was the dumbest thing Kone has ever done because he’s never fought anyone
like Hardcore Hensen. Preacher turns to
Hensen and asks why he knows he’s going to win tonight and Hensen yells “BECAUSE
I’M HARDCORE!” The two walk off.
The Axe makes his
way down to the ring to a pop from the crowd.
He comments that his tag team partner TNT is going to get the first
title shot at Gumbo and he couldn’t think a better person deserved it. However, that leaves him needing some action so
he’s calling out Jesse California out challenging him for his spot in the top
10 lineup. The fans pop and then Jesse
comes out and is grumbling having to be put into this spot. It would nice to say that Jesse put up a
fight but, well, he really didn’t. Axe
totally owned him however he had great in-ring presence and managed to snag the
ropes or get is foot on the rope to stop the count. Axe began to let his
frustration show and Jesse saw it and laughed.
One more minute and his spot is intact and Axe remains at the bottom of
the roster. At the 19 minute mark, Jesse
went for (who knows what) and Axe ended up dropping him with a power
punch. Jesse was out cold. Axe made the cover and got the 1-2-3. The Axe gets the win and moves up in the
rankings and Jesse moves down. (19 min)
Magnum Kone is
backstage and he says that the true test of a champion happens in the face of
adversity. Hensen is no different than
any of the people who have challenged for this belt, held the belt or defended
it. He says he will do what he does best
– fight on until one man is left standing and he’ll prove once again why he’s
the champ.
It’s time for our
main event. First, ‘The Singapore
Sensation’ Matt Preacher makes his way out with Hardcore Hensen and the fans
boo them as they head down to the ring.
Next, ‘the King of Cones’ Magnum Kone comes out and the fans go
absolutely bananas. Magnum gives out the
customary ice cream to the kids at ringside and once that job was done, he
heads into the ring to complete his other mission. Once in the ring, the ref announces that this
match will be a ladder match. The bell rings and the two begin slugging it
out. They had ladders at their disposal
and used them as weapons busting each other open. 6 minutes in, Magnum missed the Ice cream
sandwich (splash) and Hensen sandwiched Magnum in between 2 ladders. Magnum appeared to be hurt and struggled
with any offense. Hensen kept the pressure on and controlled the tempo of the
match. We now join the match at the 15
min mark.
