HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2018 #673 – Phoenix Heat

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  The show begins today with a line outside of GM Master Bull’s office.  First, the Huber Clan storms in and says they want a shot at the 6 man titles.  Before Bull can respond, the Muscles Trio shows up and they claim to be the #1 contenders and that they should get the next shot.  Bull tells both teams that they can fight it out in the ring tonight with the winner getting the next shot at the belts.  Both teams leave.  Bull says “Now I have to find a team to fight the 6 man champs tonight” but before he can finish that thought, the Banker, Ruth Heartless and the Regulators walk in.  The Banker says “Well, it looks like you need a team to take on the champs and that should be us.”  Bull asks why.  “Did you not see the amount of destruction the Regulators can cause?  And besides, you owe me for flipping me around between brands like a fish out of water.”  Bull tells him that he’ll grant the match but if they lose, it may be some time before they get another shot.  “No sweat” the Banker says and he and his team walk out.

Bull gets a breather but only for a minute as his peace is disturbed by none other than ‘The Ragin Cajun’ King Rad Gumbo with Queen Alexandria.  Gumbo says that he is demanding to be on tonight’s card and Bull had better make it worth his time.  Bull says that one of Phoenix’s own is ready for in-ring action so he gets to face ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger.  Gumbo snorts and says that he’ll ground Winger under his heel and then he wants, nay, demands World Champion Buzz Steel.  Gumbo storms out with his Queen.  Bull flops back in his chair already exhausted and the evening is only getting started.

The show begins with pyro and then the Snake Pit (Niven and Tobias Snake) make their way out to the ring first to a surprising pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes the Ambassador and Elitism (‘The Elitist’ Reid Rothchild and ‘Rowdy’ Roderick Rothchild).  The crowd boos as the trio makes their way down to the ring.  Elitism attacks immediately starting this one off.  Unfortunately it didn’t help them as the Snake Pit controlled the entire match even with interference from the Ambassador.  Reid and Roderick made saves pretty regularly preventing the Pit from getting the win.  17 minutes into the match, Niven gets tired of the Ambassadors’ antics and takes him out nullifying any “advantage” Elitism had.  The two teams battled for another 4 minutes.  Reid hits Tobias with a Reid Bottom and tags out to Roderick.  Tobias back bodydrops Roderick and makes the hot tag to Niven and Roderick tags Reid back in.  Reid ducks a clothesline and hits the Rothchild Stunner.  Reid makes the cover and with a hook of the leg (ad tights), he gets the 1-2-3.  Elitism gets the win and the Snake Pit aren’t happy.  Reid and Roderick gather up their manager and walk victoriously to the back.  (21 min)

Master Bull is still in his office and finalizes a match for the upcoming Supershow.  Texas Wildfire vs Ice Dagger is now official and the winner of the match gets the next shot at TV Champion the Unknown Assassin.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, Lavender Gooms comes out and gets a decent pop from the crowd.  Next, El Gato Negro comes out and the fans pop.  It seems she’s back in their good graces after her tiff with Scarlett Phoenix.  For about 10 minutes, El Gato had the fans solidly behind her but then after Lavender connected with a corkscrew flying body press from the top rope, the fans began to cheer her equally.  We were approaching the time limit and it seemed like this one was going to go to a draw but Lavender connected with a snap suplex and bridged into a cover.  The ref began to count 1…2…and then El Gato grabbed the bottom rope…but the ref didn’t see it and counted to 3.  The ref awards the match to Lavender.  El Gato complained that she had the bottom rope but the ref said he couldn’t see it because of the bridge cover.  El Gato was furious.  She attacked Lavender and then locked in the Wall-O-Cato and cinched it in.  Lavender was screaming trying to tap out but El Gato wouldn’t relinquish the hold.  The ref finally got her off El Gato took a swipe at the ref who ducked back just in the nick of time.  El Gato stormed out of the ring and Lavender had to be helped to the back.  (19 min)

Backstage, manager J C Dykes whines about the Unknown Assassin not being scheduled for the show but he says that the TV champion will show up where he is least expected.

It’s time for some 6 man tag team action.  First, the Hubers (Butch, Ferb and Junior Huber) come out and are booed.  Next, the Muscles Trio (Muscles McGuire, Weasley and Thorpe) make their way out wearing their rainbow colored bull horns and their boxes of Booty-OOOO’s cereal (which they gave some of the fans).  The winner of this match is in line for the next title shot at the 6 Man Tag Team Champions.  The two teams battled pretty fiercely and almost scored multiple pins but the opposing team was there to break the count.  At the 21 minute mark, Butch Huber catches Muscles McGuire with a discuss lariat and makes the cover getting the 3 count.  The Huber Clan gets the win and will be next in line for the 6 Man tag team title shot.

Backstage, Lavender demands a match against El Gato at the super show.  She doesn’t care what kind of match as long as it is no DQ.

Our next match is ready to go with 5th Column member Oswald Zimmerman already in the ring.  Music hits and out comes former World Champion Starbuck Steel.  The fans pop like crazy.  Starbuck makes his way down to the ring.  The action begins almost immediately and Oswald takes the fight to ‘Buck. Oswald tried to use many dirty tricks to try and take control of the match but Starbuck knew all of them and was able to stay toe to toe with “the Iron Cross”.  Oswald slapped on the stomach claw but Starbuck began to fight out of it and with the fans popping for him, he got the intestinal fortitude to power out of it and then a quick kick to the gut and a Starplex (slingshot suplex) later, ‘Buck gets the 1-2-3.  Starbuck gets the win at the 10 minute mark much to the fans’ delight.  Oswald makes his way to the back and a few moments later, Starbuck did too.

‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger is backstage and the fans pop for him.  He says he’s a little disappointed that even after the Critical Mass PPV ass kicking he gave to the Banker, he’s still here.  He says the Banker is old news and with that out of the way, he’s ready to move on into the hunt for a title.  Tonight, he climbs the ladder by defeating the so-called “King”.  Winger says that ‘Top Gun’ will soar and Gumbo will crash and burn.

The loudspeaker blares with “Gumbo 7:30 says its suppa time, bitch” and out comes ‘The Ragin Cajun’ King Rad Gumbo accompanied by his Queen Ms. Alexandria.  The royal couple make their way down to the ring to the booing from the fans.  Gumbo flips them off while the Queen tries to get him to settle down and get his mind in the game.  Next, ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger comes out and the fans pop for him.  Winger rushes to the ring (like a jet), slides under the bottom rope and leaps to the corner turnbuckle and the fans pop for his athleticism.  Gumbo pulls him off and gets into his face.  The bell rings and the two begin slugging it out.  Winger holds his own and Gumbo spent a lot of time out of the ring “regrouping”.  For 10 minutes it looked like Winger was going to fly away with a win but as soon as Queen Alexandria made her presence known, things went south for the high flyer.  Gumbo the controlled the match for the next 6 minutes but then Winger started a comeback.  Gumbo went for the New Orleans Crab but Winger reversed it and dropped the King with a Wild Bill punch.  Gumbo then got up and locked in a French Quarter Nelson (aka rest hold) and as Winger was catching his breath, Gumbo turned it into a pin and with his feet on the ropes for leverage, got the 3 count. King Rad Gumbo gets the win. Gumbo began to put the boots to Winger but music hits and out comes the World Champion Buzz Steel.  He goes after Gumbo but Rad bails out and he and Queen Alexandria leave.  Buzz checks on Winger and then points a menacing finger at Gumbo.  Gumbo says that the two of them will meet and he will walk away the victor….”BITCH”.  Buzz exited the ring and went after Rad who chose that moment to hightail it out of there.

Backstage in his office, Master Bull says that Buzz vs Gumbo will take place at the super show next week.  It’s expected to be an explosive one.  Texas Wildfire vs Ice Dagger, Ravishing Raquel vs Candice Charisma (non-title) and Lavender Gooms vs El Gato Negro are also on the card.

It’s time for the main event with the 6 Man Tag Team Championship on the line.  First, the challengers come out.  Led by Ruth Heartless, the Banker and the Regulators (Mammoth and Mule) come out and the fans boo the crap out of them.  They make their way to the ring mostly ignoring them.  Next, the champions Talon McFrost, Otto Ruthless and Wilber Townsend come out and they get a small pop seeing as they are heels too but I guess the Banker and his cronies are hated more.  Once all 6 men (and Ruth) are in the ring, the ref announces that this one will be a 45 minute contest.  The Banker gets on the mic and mocks the champs for hiding behind the DQ rule. Wilber says they’ll forgo the rule but if the champs retain, they also gain the services of Ruth Heartless.  The Banker practically flips out.  “You have to pay the price if you want the goods” Wilber says.  The Banker, Ruth and the Regulator huddle (like in football) and the Banker says they agree to the stipulation.  Wilber adds on that Ruth has to act in the best interest of the team and if she attempts to sabotage them or cost them the titles, she will be removed from HCW and Wilber promises that she will never be seen or heard from again.  The Banker says that to ensure the best team wins (he points to himself) that this now needs to be a 60 minute time limit match.  The ref listens on his earpiece and nods. The match begins.  The champs held their own for a good 20 minutes but after that, the Banker and his goons took the fight to the champs.  The longer it went on, the more the Banker and the Regulators destroyed them.  They went for multiple pin and submission attempts but the champs were able to make the save regularly.  The match had the fans on the edges of their seats for almost the whole match and before we knew it, the bell rang bringing this one to a 60 minute draw.  Both teams were exhausted and frustrated for not scoring a win over the other.  This brought out GM Master Bull.  Bull stated that since the challengers really owned the champs for the majority of the match, (336 to 516) he was going to give the Banker and the Regulators one more chance at the Super Show.  Bull says that that match will be no DQ, no count out and no time limit and will be in a steel cage but the stipulation of Ruth managing Wilber and team if they win will still be in place.

With that, the show comes to an end.  Stay tuned as Tacoma Thunder is up next.
