HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2018 #679 – Phoenix Heat

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  Today’s show kicks off GM Master Bull making his way to the stage.  Bull says that 4 of Phoenix’s finest will be meeting tonight with two winners going on fight to see who will become the interim World Champion.  Bull says he got an update on World Champion Buzz Steel. The doctors say Buzz is recovering nicely but he will not rush his return to the ring.  The fans will get to see Buzz back in the ring at the Meltdown PPV that will be taking place in Phoenix, AZ on 7/4.  Tonight, we will see Starbuck Steel take on Scooter J and ‘the Ragin Cajun’ King Rad Gumbo will take on Texas Wildfire and the two finalists will be back in a week to meet the final two from Tacoma Thunder.  Bull says the Tag Team titles are on the line tonight when the Desperados take on the challengers from the Snake Pit – Leiton and Niven Snake.  Also, tonight we will see the debut of a new team called the Machines.  And lastly, because of what transpired a week ago, El Gato Negro has demanded a match against Starr Vixen.  We don’t want to waste any time here so let’s get this one kicked off.

First, the 5th Column (Baron von Blood, Oswald Zimmerman & Karl Braun) come out and are booed as they make their way down to the ring.  Next, the Six Man Champions – The Banker and the Regulators – come out with their manager Ruth Heartless and they too are booed as they head to the ring.  The Column tried to attack the champs but they easily (with interference from Ruth) took the fight to the Column and pretty much dominated the match (160 to 84).   The end came after Regulator Mammoth caught Karl Braun with an inverted superplex and got the easy 1-2-3.  The Banker and the Regulators get the win.  Ruth joins them in the ring and they celebrate briefly before departing.  (17 min)

Backstage, Scooter J says that tonight he makes history as he goes on to destroy and dominate like only he can.  Tonight, SJ advances and once he’s dominated the rest of the roster, he will have his hand raised in victory as he is handed the Interim World Title.  He will then go on to beat that schmuck Buzz Steel and become the undisputed World Champion.  He laughs before walking off.

Also backstage is Starbuck Steel.  Starbuck says he knows what it means to be World Champion.  With Buzz out of action (for the moment), he gets another chance to shine and Scooter J will not stand in his way from getting the championship back.

We head to the ring for our next match.  First, Scooter J comes out and is booed but he doesn’t seem to care.  He flips off the fans from the ring.  He takes a mic “Now, before my match begins, I want all you fat, out of shape hogs to shut your pie holes and watch a true master in the ring.”  This elicited a pretty vicious reaction from the crowd and SJ just laughed.  Next, Starbuck Steel makes his way out high fives the fans as he heads to the ring to a loud pop.  He slides under the rope and goes nose to nose with SJ in the center of the ring.  Scooter J went on the offensive right away and for the first 7 minutes, he held the advantage but after getting hit with the Starplex from the top rope, things began to turn to Starbucks way.  Starbuck began beating Scooter J all over the ring and SJ began to get desperate.  He eye gouged Starbuck pretty bad but before he could do anything, World Champion Buzz Steel came out on stage.  The fans popped and Scooter J leaned over the rope jawjacking with Buzz.  Starbuck then reached up and rolled Scooter J up in a small package and (taking a page out of SJ’s handbook), he hooked the tights and got the 1-2-3.  Starbuck Steel gets the win and rolls out of the ring.  He meets his brother on stage and they collectively laugh at Scooter J.  Starbuck moves on in the tournament.  Scooter J tried to complain to the ref but he was mostly ignored.  Scooter J stormed to the back.  (15 min)

Backstage, King Rad Gumbo is with Queen Alexandria and he says that it’s time for him once again to add gold to his regal attire.  Tonight, he smothers the Wildfire and then goes on to the final four.  When asked what he thought his chances were to go all the way, Gumbo almost hit the announcer.  “Dis Cajun is going all da way.  Don’t you worry Mon Ami.  Dis Cajun will be champ again.”

It’s time for some tag team action.  First, the Ryzing Storm (Travis and Terra Ryzing) come out and they are booed as they head to the ring.  Next, the newest addition to the HCW roster the Machines come out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  We learned that they are called the “B” and “P” Machines.   The Storm goes on the offensive with P Machine hurling Terra out of the ring on one side and B Machine hurling Travis out the other.  The Machines controlled the match for about the first 15 minutes but then the experience of the Ryzing Storm took over and they began to take over the match eventually.  To the Machines credit, they would not give up.  Finally, the bell rang bringing this one to a time limit draw.  The Machines had a solid outing.  Terra did try to attack P Machine after the match but he caught him and hit him with a move that was extremely similar to the Phat’s Enough that Phat Sol used to do.  Hang on a moment…could it be?...Nah.  (30 min draw)

Texas Wildfire is backstage and he says that Gumbo is full of Dungo.  He knows that he has a tough match ahead of himself but he knows that Wildfire will be runnin’ wild and he’s wondering what Dungo’s gonna do when “the ‘Fire runs wild on you”.

Texas Wildfire comes out first and the fans pop huge for him.  He high fives the fans as he makes his way to the ring.  His pop is cut short when we hear the always obnoxious “Gumbo 7:30 says it’s suppa time, bitch!” over the loudspeakers and out comes the Ragin Cajun King Rad Gumbo and Queen Alexandria.  The fans begin a “Dung-o” chant and the King is pissed.  Gumbo tries to cover his ears but the fans are just too loud.  Finally, he gives up and heads to the ring.  He attacks Wildfire and the two are trading punches before the bell even rings starting this one off.  The two were pretty evenly matched even with the Queen’s interference.  23 minutes into the match and Gumbo locked TW in the New Orleans Crab trying for a submission.  TW was in the hold for a good solid 30 seconds and clawed his way to the ropes and grabbed the bottom rope breaking the hold.  Gumbo got distracted by a few of the fans calling him “Dung-o” and he went out and confronted him.  While the ref was helping Wildfire up, one of the fans popped up and…hang on…it’s World Champion Buzz Steel and he catches Gumbo with a HUGE uppercut that probably loosened a few teeth.  Gumbo rolled back in the ring.  TW catches Gumbo with a snap powerslam and he ends up getting the 1-2-3.  Texas Wildfire gets the win and celebrates with the fans and then heads to the back.  Queen Alexandria helps Gumbo to his feet and helps him to the back.  Buzz smiles and high fives the fans around him and he too eventually leaves.

El Gato Negro is backstage and she says she has a bone to pick with Starr Vixen.  Vixen thinks she’s all that but she isn’t.  El Gato says that she is the upper echelon within HCW and she’ll prove it to Starr once and for all.

Also backstage are the challengers to the Tag Team Titles the Snake Pit.  Leiton and Niven Snake say that the Desperados have been dodging them ever since they “won” the titles but tonight that ends.  The Snake Pit will win the titles and then show the world how dominant of a team they truly are.

We go back to the ring for a rematch of sorts.  El Gato Negro comes out first and is booed.  She’s been beaten by Starr Vixen a couple of times now and she really wants to avenge those losses.  Next, Starr Vixen comes out and the fans pop for her.  She gets to the ring and El Gato makes like she’s going to attack her but doesn’t (the mind games begin).  The bell rings and this one is off.  This one took off like a rocket but was almost over as soon as it started.  Things began to get hot when Starr caught El Gato with a flying fivearm but El Gato took her to the mat with a feline facelock.  El Gato then hit the 9 Lives and she rolled up Starr (with her feet on the ropes the cheater) and got the 3 count.  Starr kicked out just a fraction of a second too late.  El Gato rolled out of the ring and backed up the ramp laughing and saying she outsmarted Starr Vixen.  I’m sure this one is not over.  (4 min)

World Tag Team Champions the Desperados (El Chango and Leon Teremoto) laugh at the insinuation that they were dodging the Snake Pit.  El Chango says “We are not the match makers; we don’t set up matches… That falls to our GM.  We’ve stated over and over that we will accept the challenge from any team at any time as long as it is made official.  It’s easy to hide behind other teams and then claim we’re ducking you but now our match is official and I can promise you that you’ll wish you stayed hidden behind the other teams.”  Leon looks at the camera and says “We beat the most elite team in HCW – Elitism…I think we can handle you.”  The champs then walked off camera.

It’s time for our main event.  The challengers the Snake Pit (Leiton and Niven Snake) come out first to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, the champs the Desperados come out and the fans pop for them.   Surprisingly it was the champs who started off as the aggressors double teaming the Pit for 3 minutes but would tag in and out quickly to avoid the wrath of the referee.  With that advantage, the champs kept control of the entire match and really became more one-sided as the match went on.   When the Pit tried to get the advantage by a double team, the champs joined them in the ring for a slobber knocker taking away any advantage the challengers may have been trying to get.  El Chango locked Niven up with the Muta Lock but he kicked out and tagged to Leiton.   As soon as Leiton hit the ring, El Chango took him down and locked in a camel clutch.  After cinching back just far enough to cause extreme pain, he let go and rolled Leiton up for the 1-2-3.  The Desperados get the win and retain their titles.   The show comes to an end with El Chango and Leon Teremoto celebrating in the ring holding their titles high over their heads.

Be sure to come back as Tacoma gets their two finalists and then in one week, the four meet here in Phoenix to crown an interim World Champion.  Stay Tuned.
