HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2017 #614 – Phoenix Heat

Hello fans and welcome back to our latest episode of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  GM Master Bull makes his way out to a pop from the crowd.  He announces that tonight’s card will be stacked with a main event headlined by the 6 Man Tag Team Champions – Axe, TNT and Scooter J taking on Brick, King Wilber and the Unknown Assassin.   We’ll also see TV champion Phat Sol take on the Ragin Cajun Rad Gumbo in a non-title match.  Finally, we’ll put to rest who gets a shot at Hoff n Spicy’s tag team titles when the Steel Curtain takes on Elitism in a specialty match to be determined.  With such an explosive card, we need to get this show underway.

The first match of the night is more 6 man tag team action.  The 5th Column (Baron von Blood, Oswald Zimmerman and Karl Braun) make their way out first and are booed pretty bad.  Next, the Snake Pit (Niven, Tobias and Leiton Snake) make their way out and get an ok reaction as they’re not exactly fan favorites either.  The matchup was practically even with both teams matching each other move for move.  After being hit with a low blow, Tobias bailed out of the ring to catch his breath while his brothers bought him some recovery time. Tobias then looked under the ring, crawled under for just a moment and then came back out.  For a moment, it didn’t seem like either team was going to get an advantage over the other.  Oswald got tagged in and so did Tobias.  Oswald went to hit another low blow on Tobias but it seemingly did little damage.  Tobias then hit the Dirty Deeds on Oswald in explosive fashion.  Leiton and Niven took out the rest of the Column and Tobias made the cover and hooked the leg getting the 1-2-3.  The Snake Pit get the win in 6 minutes.  After the match, Tobias removed a cup that helped minimize any future injuries and the fans popped for it.  The things fans pop for nowadays…

Backstage, Texas Wildfire addresses why he showed up on the Tacoma show.  He says that the Super Duper Shock Master keeps hiding from him.  Well, this time, he showed up on his doorstep and took the fight to him.  TW spoke with both Master Bull and GM Max McGillicutty asking for a specialty match at the PPV where he’d take a 6 month leave of absence without pay in exchange for getting the helmet of SDSM on a silver platter.  Bull and Max liked the idea and made their match a career vs helmet match.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  Jesse California comes out first and is booed.  Next, the Crocodile Hunter comes out and he gets what seems like the loudest pop of the night.  Jesse doesn’t like that and attacks Croc.  For the first 11 minutes, Croc destroyed Jesse and it looked like it was the end for the West Coast Hearthrob.  Jesse managed to “accidentally” hit the top rope when Croc was up on the top turnbuckle causing him to fall and straddle the top rope.  Jesse then began a comeback that was halted 7 minutes later with Croc hitting an amazing flying dropkick.  Jesse hit a DDT but Croc managed to throw him out of the ring.  Jesse made it back in only to get bodyslammed.  Croc went for the pin but Jesse got his foot on the bottom rope after 1 and then the bell rang bringing this one to a time limit draw.  (20 min draw)

Backstge, the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel) say that it doesn’t matter the type of match or the time limit as they will make quick work of Elitism and then get their rematch against the champs.  After this match, Elitism will become an afterthought.

Our next match is ready to begin.  First, manager MJ comes out and points up as “Gumbo 7:30 means its suppa time, bitch” plays through the speakers and joining him is ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo.  Gumbo and MJ make their way to the ring.  Gumbo is questioning MJ why this match isn’t for the title.  Their interlude is interrupted by the TV champion Phat Sol who comes out to a pop from the crowd and makes his way down to the ring.  Early on, Phat hits the Phat’s Enough but only gets a one count.  A few moments later, Gumbo locks in the New Orleans crab but Phat makes it to the ropes to break the hold.  MJ got involved early tripping Phat at the ropes.  MJ, a few minutes later, choked Phat in the corner and that gave Rad a pin attempt but Phat kicked out.  A few minutes after that, MJ eye gouged Phat with peanut shells.  Rad followed it up with the Bourbon Street Blues but Phat got his foot on the rope.  Phat got an offensive run going and MJ tried to eye gouge him again but Phat knocked him from the ring apron and then dropped Rad with the Phat Phat (Brainbuster).  16 minutes in MJ yanked the hair (what little Phat had) and he about lost it.  He went after the manager and once he caught him, dropped him with a sucker punch that sent the wiry manager into the second row.  Once back in, Gumbo hits him with the Gator roll and got a 2 count.  Just as time was running out, Phat hit a knee lift and Rad locked in a French Quarter Nelson (rest hold) and time ran out.  This one ends in a draw.  Rad goes to collect his manager and they leave.  An exhausted Phat Sol celebrates with the fans and then leaves.

Backstage, Elitism (Reid and Roderick Rothchild) respond to the promo that the Steel Curtain cut and they say that they will not go quietly into the night; they will persevere.  Win, lose or draw, this will NOT be the last time they tangle with the Steel Curtain.

Our next match begins with Ravishing Raquel making her way out.  She is then followed out by her opponent Starr Vixen.  Both actually shake hands before the match.  Starr barely had the upper hand until Southern Belle made her way out.  She was mad she wasn’t in this match and she was vocal about it.  Raquel had thrown Starr to the ropes but Belle pulled the top rope down (unbeknownst to the ref) and Starr went flying and crashing to the floor.  Belle then ran back to commentary and pretended to not know what just happened.  “Did you see that?  Little miss vixen just fell down and broke her crown” Bell said and then laughed.  The ref counted to 10 and then awarded the match to Ravishing Raquel via countout.  (7 ½ min).  Belle left quickly after that followed by Raquel.  Starr was helped to the back but she seemed ok; just shook up.

Backstage, Brick, King Wilber and the Unknown Assassin (and his manager J C Dykes) are backstage.  Dykes speaks up so that no one can talk over him.  “The Unknown Assassin and his teammates are going to decimate their opponents and there is nothing anyone can do.  Brick will take out ol’ Schroeder (hey man, where’s your piano); King Wilber will destroy his disgrace of a nephew TNT and the Unknown Assassin will annihilate the so-called Axe and will dull that blade.  You’re looking at the next six man champs you CHUMPS.” The segment ends before anyone else can speak.

We go back to the ring and music hits as the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel) make their way out to a chorus of booing from the fans.  The Ambassador has been banned from ringside.  Next, Elitism comes out (Reid and Roderick Rothchild) and the fans pop.  The get in the ring and immediately all 4 men are in the middle having a staredown.  Everyone is separated and the ref announces this will be a falls count anywhere rules match.  All 4 men got back in and everyone started to slug it out.  The Steel Curtain managed to get more double teaming action in but every time they tried to capitalize with a pin, the ref got distracted by sending the other member out of the ring costing precious seconds.  This went on for the entire match.  Before we knew it, the time limit was almost complete.  In the final minute of the match, the Curtain were going in for double teaming action.  Just as Starbuck was going to hit a slingshot suplex, Reid ran over and took ‘Buck out and both men went over the top rope.  Buzz ducked a clothesline and hit the Buzz Cut.  Buzz made the cover 1…2…and the bell rang bringing this one to a draw.  Both teams were frustrated as we still don’t know who’s going to meet Hoff n Spicy for the World Tag Team titles in just a few short weeks.  (30 min draw)

Backstage, the 6 Man Tag Team Champs are in the building.  The Axe, Scooter J and TNT say that they each have their own agenda in this match.  Scooter J promises that after tonight, Brick will not make it to the PPV.  Axe says that Unknown Assassin will become just another victim to the mighty Axe (he actually called it Mjölnir – a reference to Thor’s Hammer) and TNT says his abusive (and insane) uncle Wilber won’t know what hit him when he goes off like a powder keg on his ASS.  The three head towards the ring.

There is commotion backstage and GM Master Bull rushes over to see that TV champion Phat Sol has been attacked.  Bull gets all riled up and says the culprit will be found.

It’s time for our main event.  First, Brick and King Wilber make their way out to booing from the crowd.  Next, manager J C Dykes comes out and introduces the Unknown Assassin.  UA remains on the stage while security line the ramp.  Before they can head down, Master Bull comes out and tells Dykes that he is banned from ringside tonight.  He is irate but Bull tells him to leave or he’ll be escorted out by the very security standing here now.  Dykes storms off.  Next, the 6 Man tag champs come out and the place goes bananas.  They make their way down to the ring.  Scooter J goes right after Brick; Axe after Unknown Assassin and TNT after Wilber.  The ref finally gets control and this one is started.  Both Axe and Scooter J got taken out early leaving TNT to fend for himself.  The team led by the Unknown Assassin took turns beating down on poor TNT.  Brick just had his fun and at the 9 minute mark, he tagged in King Wilber.

The 6 Man Tag Team Champion retain their belts by sheer luck.  Unknown Assassin led the team to continue to beat down on TNT after the match.  Finally, Scooter J and the Axe recovered enough and armed with steel chairs, chased their PPV opponents to the back.  This left TNT and King Wilber.  Wilber picked up TNT and was going to hit the GTS but TNT recovered and fought his uncle off.  He began to hulk up after ducking a clothesline, hit Wilber with the TNT.  The fans popped as Wilber rolled out of the ring and to the floor.  The show came to an end with a bewildered King Wilber staring up at TNT in the ring.
