HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2017 #620 – Tacoma Thunder

Hello fans and welcome to another episode of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  There has been bit going on backstage so we’ll address that first.

HCW has come to terms with Jerry Saunders and he has been granted his release.  We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

With Super Shockmaster returning to the Phoenix brand, that makes the rosters uneven.  ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo and Leon Teremoto are moved to the Tacoma brand.

The show begins back in GM Max McGillicutty’s office.  He’s looking at someone and as the camera pans, we see ‘The Ragin’ Cajun’ Rad Gumbo and his manager MJ.  Max welcomes Gumbo to Tacoma and reminds him that winners make it around here.  Gumbo replies with “Mon Ami, Losin’s not my style.  Bein’ on the A-show…dis’ is better than Mardi Gras.”  Gumbo and MJ leave the room and Max sits back and sighs.

Pyro goes off and our show is ready to begin.  The match begins with Brick making his way down to the ring to an ever-growing pop from the fans.  He’s been picking up more and more followers as of late.  Next, his opponent comes out and it’s Ghee Buttersnaps.  Ghee heads down to the ring and also gets a pop from the crowd.  In the first minute of the match, Ghee was going for a high impact move but ended up falling off the top turnbuckle and fell to the floor hitting the stairs.  After that, he was lucky to get in a few offensive moves as it was Brick controlling the match in dominating fashion (43 to 150).  With Ghee practically out on his feet, Brick connected with the Alabama Slamma and scored the pin.  Brick gets the win (18 min).  His celebration is cut short however when Scooter J rushes in from the crowd attacking Brick beating him down until a gaggle of refs from the back rushed out to protect Brick and usher Scooter J out of there.  SJ stomped off.  The fans didn’t care for the uncalled-for attack and began to boo him.

Backstage, Jazz Emmett says that 3 ladies had their chance to win the title and all 3 of them failed.  Tonight, in the MAIN event, she takes on Taylor Bella for the Ladies title and guaran-damn-tees she’s walking out with the title tonight.

We head back to the ring and Figgy Newton comes out and introduces DJ CJ Spice.  The fans pop as they head down to the ring.  As Figgy’s walking down, he sees a female fan holding a sign asking “Why Figgy Why?” (and in small print:  “did you attack Top Gun?”)  Figgy takes the sign from the fan but sets it down in front of her telling her that Winger is not on this show and has no business being mentioned.  He quickly caught up to DJ and they entered the ring.  Next, manager Ant Graham comes out and introduces Covfefe.  The two make it to the ring and Covfefe grabs a sign that reads “Bring back Magnum Kone” and tears it to shreds.  Covfefe enters the ring and he immediately goes after DJ.  He only holds the advantage for a minute or two and then DJ turned up the heat and owned Covfefe.  The match went on for 10 minutes that saw both Figgy and Graham interfering in the match and the two of them almost came to blows too.  Covfefe had just eye raked DJ and put him in the corner.  He then rushed to the other side of the ring and ran hitting a big splash.  DJ didn’t fall down but as soon as Covfefe showed his back, DJ jumped on locking in a guillotine choke.  Both men fell to the mat but DJ wouldn’t let go.  Finally, Covfefe finally had enough and tapped out.  DJ CJ Spice gets the win via submission in 10 minutes.  Ant Graham motioned to the back and out ran Dr. Red Fang.  Fang jumped in and began attacking DJ but “The Hoff” Davis Hoffmeister was out there quickly and dispatched Fang.  Fang snarled and growled at Davis and Davis took a mic telling Fang that if he wanted a match so badly, they can have one tonight.  Davis turns to Figgy and tells him to make it happen.

Backstage, the 6 Man Tag team champs (TNT, the Axe and Scooter J) are all in a room.  Axe questions what is going on with SJ.  It seems like he’s snapped.  Scooter J tells them that Brick attacked him for no reason and he was just trying to get even.  Axe tells him that happened over a month ago and Scooter J had gotten revenge at the PPV.  Scooter J looked at him like he was off his rocker.  “It’s never over man…It never ends” and Scooter J walks away.  Axe looks at TNT who’s getting ready for his match next.  “I just don’t know” Axe mutters.

TNT makes his way down to the ring to a pop from the crowd.  Next, his opponent Superstar Chic Monroe comes out and is booed.  TNT was getting beat down for the first few minutes but once the fans started to rally behind him, TNT started destroying the Superstar.  TNT was just leveling Chic with everything he had and Monroe began to panic.  TNT rushed the ropes but Chic tripped him and he went tumbling right out of the ring.  Chic ran out there and leveled TNT with a cradle facebuster. Chic rolled back in waiting for the ref to finish his count.  Once he reached 10, TNT was counted out and the match was awarded to Chic via countout decision. (9 ½ min).  Chic left and the ref went out to help TNT to the back.

Backstage, El Chango was being interviewed and he called out Ice Dagger about the shitty way he won choking him out underneath the ringside barrier.  He said that if ID wants to play dirty, he’d be happy to oblige.

We go back to the ring for the next match featuring the 3^rd member of the 6 Man tag team champions – the Axe.  Axe comes out first to a pop from the crowd.  Next, Ant Graham comes out with another member of his stable – Mason the Mangler.  Mason is sporting a face mask that is a mix between Hannibal Lecter and Bane’s (from Batman) versions.  Graham got involved early and often to prevent what happened with Covfefe and after he broke his cane over the Axe’s head (and somehow didn’t get Mason disqualified), Mason followed it up with a running knee to the face.  Axe fell to the mat and Mason made the cover but Ant rushed over and held Axe’s foot down so he couldn’t kick out.  Mason gets the 3 count and the win.  Mason rolls out of the ring and he and Graham laugh their way to the back.  Graham turns around and says that once Fang is through beating up on jobbers, he is issuing a challenge to the 6 Man champs to give his team a shot at their titles.  Axe was just irked enough to accept the match on the spot without talking to his teammates.  He eventually left.  (9 min)

Ladies Champion Taylor Bella is backstage with her manager Figgy Newton.  Taylor says that Figgy has been a good friend and manager watching her back and helping her along with her career.  Taylor says that at the PPV, she dispatched 3 of HCW ‘finest’ and tonight, she continues with her plowing through the roster.  Once she’s done and has beaten everyone in sight, it may be time for her to join her sisters on the Total Bella’s show…NAH!

Graham makes his third appearance of the night and signals to the back and as he makes his way out, the loudspeakers blare “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE!” and Dr. Red Fang heads down to the ring amidst the booing from the fans.  They just don’t like this guy.  Next, music changes and Figgy Newton comes out with ½ of the World Tag Team Champions – Drew “the Hoff” Hoffmeister.  The fans pop loud for him and that increase in the noise level forced Fang and Graham to put their hands over their ears.  Davis makes his way into the ring climbing the turnbuckles but keeping a vigilant watch on Fang.  Davis put the boots to the evil vampire for the first few minutes of the match but then Ant Graham stuck his nose (and a new cane) into the match and things quickly went the way of the Vicious Vampire.  Fang turned up the heat hitting Davis with a Vampire Lunge that sent him flying out of the ring.  While on the outside, Ant began putting the boots to Davis and then handcuffed him to the ringside barrier.  Figgy ran over to try to help but the ref made him stay on the opposite side of the ring.  Davis wasn’t able to get free by the time the bell rang so he ended up getting counted out. Dr. Red Fang gets the win via DQ.   Fang and Graham left the ring laughing all the way to the back.  Figgy finally got Davis free from the cuffs but it was too late.  They left immediately after.

Graham walks in laughing and cackling about how he’s outsmarted the roster tonight and in one week, his team takes on the 6 man champs for the titles and with all the chaos that team is going through, it will be easy pickings for his team to walk out with the titles.  He laughs as the camera cuts him off.

It’s time for the main event.  Jazz Emmett makes her way down to the ring to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, Figgy Newton comes out and introduces the Ladies Champion Taylor Bella.  The fans receive her with mixed reaction also but she doesn’t seem to care.  Jazz went right on the offensive stunning the champ with lefts, rights and suplexes.  Taylor thought the action was just a bit too hot and got out of the ring.  Jazz, thinking Taylor was going to bolt, hit the ropes and launched herself through the ropes connecting with a suicide dive.  She landed smack on top of Taylor who was slow to get up.  Figgy ran over trying to provide words of encouragement (maybe he was just saying ‘stay down’…we’re not sure) and Taylor did not make it back into the ring before the 10 count.  Jazz Emmett gets the win but not the title as they do not change hands on a countout.  Taylor walks out with her title intact.  She makes it to the stage and holds her title high until she is attacked by the Duchess who drops her with the “All Hail Her Majesty”.  The Duchess however didn’t celebrate too long as Phoenix Heat’s very own Southern Belle rushes over and pushes the Duchess from the stage to the floor below.  Belle grabs Taylor’s belt and holds it high as the fans boo and the show comes to an end.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2017 #619 – Phoenix Heat – PPV fallout

Hello fans and welcome back to our latest episode of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  There was fallout from the PPV at our last Tacoma Thunder show and tonight’s is no different.  Pyro goes off but before the show could begin, manager J C Dykes comes out with the two title (US and TV) holding champion the Unknown Assassin who’s carrying one on each shoulder.  He’s got a live mic (uh oh…here we go)…

“My lawyer, Dewey, Cheatham and Howe, sends this injunction to your measly Wrestling Association. It says no one can strip my Champion of any belt he wins without facing a long court battle. Once in a lifetime does a Superstar come along that changes all the previous rules. The NCAA banned dunking the ball from 1967 to 1976 because of 1 great man - Lew Alcindor, later known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. My Champion has decided for some reason to grace your humble rings with his presence and all of you should fall at his feet in appreciation. It is time to recognize greatness in the present tense and not wait for 25 years and then declare what a Superstar UA was. We will win every belt if given the chance. The fans may loathe us now and send their death threats, but the day is coming in the Spirit of the Great Four Horsemen that the fans will begin to cheer my Champion and demand your wrestling association to match him against all champions as they will recognize the greatness you overlook presently.” Throws the pile of papers on the announcers’ desk and leaves. A few cheers are distantly heard among the catcalls and loud booing……. 

We cut back to GM Master Bull’s office and he’s on the phone with someone.  “…Yeah…do you think it’s time to bring that back?  Should we?  I mean, the guy is an ASSHAT but he is…Yeah, I know…Well, think on it and let me know….ok.”  Bull hangs up the phone and begins to ponder the contents of his last conversation (no, he’s not spilling the beans).

It’s time for our first match and Ravishing Raquel makes her way out to the ring to a decent pop from the crowd.  Next, her opponent Scarlett Phoenix makes her way down to a similar reaction.  The bell rings pretty quick and this one is off to the races.  Scarlett stayed one step ahead of Raquel throughout the match and it looked like things were going her way when she managed to hit Raquel with the Black Widow but somehow Raquel staggered over to the ropes and with Scarlett attached to her like a conjoined twin, she dumped herself and Scarlett over the top rope to the floor with Raquel landing pretty hard on top of Scarlett.  Raquel laid there trying to keep Scarlett down.  Raquel then got up and rolled back into the ring at the last possible moment just beating the 10 count but Scarlett didn’t.  Ravishing Raquel gets the win via countout.  After the match, she exits the ring and extends a hand to Scarlett who looks to the fans and then shakes it to a pop from the crowd.  Both women leave.  (14 ½ min)

Commotion is going on backstage where it seems that ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger was getting attacked…by Figgy Newton…again.  Figgy was blasting Winger with anything he could find from a trash can to uneaten food that was left by a bunch of messy, non-cleaning up after themselves wrestlers.  Figgy kept yelling at Winger but we don’t totally understand all the hostility.  Figgy ends up leaving and Winger ends up wiping cake off his face and he is NOT happy.

Southern Belle makes her way down to the ring and she informs us about how unhappy she is.  She is pissed off that she was not included in the PPV and blames it on the ignorant fans who keep cheering for lame-asses instead of those with talent.  Belle basically insults all the women who were at the PPV and says none deserved to be there.  Madame Jade makes her way out and goes into the ring to confront Belle.  She says that each person in that fatal four way DID deserve to be there but as luck would have it, Taylor would skirt out by luck of the time limit expiring and had it gone on longer, she would be standing here confronting Belle as the Ladies Champion.  Belle begins to laugh and says Jade has no business being in the ring.  Jade challenges her to a match and this one is ready to go.  The match only gets in about 3 minutes before the ref gets un-expectantly bumped into by Belle.  She then grabbed a chair and blasted Jade with it.  She began working Jade over with the chair and as soon as she noticed the ref stirring, she threw the chair to Jade who caught it and then Belle dropped to the mat holding her head moaning.  The ref looked over seeing Belle on the mat and Jade holding the chair and he made the only call he could and disqualified Madame Jade.  Jade tried to explain Belle set her up but he pointed out she was holding the chair with Belle on the mat.  Belle rolled out of the ring and began limping to the back (selling her injury) snickering all the way.  (6 min)

Backstage, the Steel Curtain confront their manager the Ambassador about his managing Elitism.  Buzz was HOT.  “What the Hell is going on here?  Are you our manager or theirs?”  The Ambassador answered “I manage who I want however, in this case, Master Bull directed me to manage them against my better judgement.  He is the boss around here afterall.”  Starbuck leaned in “So, who are you going to manage?  Us or them?”  The Ambassador once again responded “I am YOUR manager…but I also manage them.  I know you 4 boys have a beef with one another but we’re all on the same team…MY team.  I’m not telling you what to do in this situation but at the end of the day, I’d hope you’d stay on this team so that I can do what it is I do best…lead teams to glory.”  Buzz and Starbuck looked at each other and shrugged.  Buzz said “Ok, we’ll leave things they way they are…for now but it’s in everyone’s best interest to keep them away from us.”  Starbuck leaned in and said “Word.”

We go back to the ring for more action.  First, ‘Red Hot’ Lucas Johnston comes down (haven’t seen  him in a while…looks like he got himself healthy) to a huge pop from the fans.  Next, the Ambassador comes out and introduces Roderick Rothchild.  Roderick comes out and gets a decent pop from the fans.  He tells everyone that he’s ready to kick some ass and get Rowdy…Hey, that’s it.  That is his new nickname… ‘Rowdy’ Roderick Rothchild.  The fans pop as he makes his way down to the ring.  Lucas took off like a firework and the Rowdy one had trouble keeping up.  The Ambassador then tried to get involved to help his charge out but Lucas grabbed Roderick around the waist and then ran him into the Ambassador before hitting a back suplex.  Lucas ensured Roderick’s shoulders were flush on the mat as the ref’s hand hit the mat 1…2…3.  Lucas gets the pin and has his arm raised.  Roderick gets up and looks like he’s going to attack but then settles down and extends his hand.  Lucas shakes it and the crowd pops.  Both men leave the ring.  (5 min)

It is announced that the Super Shockmaster has returned and will on the Phoenix branded show.  In fact, he makes his in-ring return later in the show.

We are back at the ring and Tobias Snake is already there.  Next, over the loudspeakers blares “Gumbo 7:30 says its suppa time bitch!” and manager MJ leads out ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo.  The fans surprisingly pop for him.  He makes his way down and then climbs the turnbuckles to even more pop from the crowd.  He seems astonished.  Gumbo had things easy for the first part of the match but after getting crotched after falling on the top rope, Tobias began turning up the heat.  13 minutes in, MJ gets taken out by Tobias and that didn’t help Rad at all.  Both men ended up on the outside of the ring and Tobias hit the Dirty Deeds DDT but didn’t leave Rad out there; he threw him back into the ring.  Tobias went to the top rope trying to do something but messed up landing flat on his back.  Rad got up and locked in the New Orleans Crab and Tobias had no choice but to tap out.  ‘The Ragin Cajun’ gets the win and he’s joined by his manager MJ who looks a little worse for wear but is standing on his own two feet.  The two men eventually leave.  (15 min)

Backstage, former World Champion had some words for the new champion. “Drew the Canadian Love Machine…it’s really interesting to see how everything just sort of fell into your lap.  You got a cheap win on Sunday but tonight, we rectify that.  I can promise you, it will be my hand that is raised as the winner of tonight’s match.  Guaranteed!”

We head back to the ring for the next match.  First, we hear that all-too-familiar bellow of a laugh from the masked man known as the Super Shockmaster.  He comes out first and then is joined by his tag team partners for this 6 man match…the Ryzing Storm (Travis and Terra).   The three men head down to the ring together.  Next, music changes and the Ambassador comes out and introduces his team…the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel) and they in turn introduce their partner who was a familiar staple when they held the 6 Man tag team titles – Biceps Bannerman. Both teams were booed but the Steel Curtain and Biceps were booed just a tad less because no one was cheering for the Super Shockmaster…not a soul. 

For the first 3 minutes, SS and the Ryzing Storm controlled the match (keep in mind that the Steel Curtain and Biceps have not teamed together for quite some time) but as time went on, with lots of double and triple teaming (and Biceps made the hot tag to Starbuck after a whopping 13 minutes in the ring), Starbuck and Buck got the team on the path of dominance.  The Ambassador got involved a few times which helped his team continue to dominate. The final minute of the match was pure chaos.  All 6 men were in the ring.  Super Shockmaster went to choke Starbuck against the ropes but just then Texas Wildfire came out and SS left the ring and began fighting TW all the way to the back.  Terra Ryzing locked Biceps down with a side headlock and Travis hit Buzz with a flying dropkick.  Biceps then tossed Terra out of the ring.  He made it back on only to have Starbuck hit him with the Buck-U and while Biceps kept Travis busy, Buzz tossed Terra back out of the ring where he was not able to beat the count back in.  Biceps Bannerman and the Steel Curtain win this one via countout decision.  Travis is hurled out of the ring and Biceps, the Steel Curtain and the Ambassador all stand victorious in the ring.  The crowd booed as they made their way to the back.  (22 min)

The World Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine is backstage and he had a response for his opponent tonight.  “Sonic, you can whine and cry all you want but that won’t change the fact that 2 nights ago, I defeated you for this belt.  Tonight, my streak continues and I will be the one walking out with my title tonight.”

It’s time for our main event.   First, Sonic Blade comes out to a decent pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes the World Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  Drew soaks in the adulation from the fans and he makes his way to the ring.  He climbs each of the corner turnbuckles to a pop from the crowd.  Finally, he’s ready to get this underway.  He hands the title to the ref and the bell rings.  Sonic goes to charge in and eats a superkick from the champ.  Sonic immediately rolls out of the ring to regain his composure and shake off the effects of that kick.  He gets back in and immediately locks up Drew in a cradle going for a pin and he got close with a 2 count but Drew kicked out.   Drew got up and called for the La Casita but Sonic reversed it and sent Drew sailing over the top rope.  All of a sudden, the lights went out and we heard a loud “OHHHH” from the crowd.  When the lights came back on, Sonic was in the ring wondering what the hell just happened.  Drew was out cold on the floor and the ref counted (pretty quick actually) to 10 awarding the match to Sonic Blade but NOT the title.  The ref was not sure Sonic was innocent in what just transpired so the match came to an abrupt end.  (2 ½ min)  This of course brought out GM Master Bull.   Bull said he was not happy with how the match ended and demanded to have the footage re-shown of the attack.  It was shown multiple times and each time, it seemed like the image was become more and more clear.  Finally, Bull saw enough to call out the culprit.  “I want J C Dykes and the Unknown Assassin to get their asses out here now!”  Bull waited (rather impatiently) as the Unknown Assassin and his manager made their way out.  “If the Unknown Assassin wants to get involved in matches that he’s not part of AND wants to be on TV…guess what?  He has a match right here and now and it will be a triple threat match however NO title will be on the line.  If Sonic gets the pin, he gets a shot at any of UA’s belts (the world title is off the table) however is UA gets the win, he will get a shot at the World title at a future date.  Dykes was not happy until that last part.  A groggy CLM got to his feet and re-entered the ring.  Sonic and UA immediately went after him but Sonic got tossed out of the ring early and for a while it was Drew vs the Unknown Assassin.  Drew had the lead for the majority of the match and Sonic kept getting sent out of the ring.  Drew then got taken down and UA went to work on Sonic Blade.  UA set Sonic up for a standing crossface but got dropkicked out of the ring by Drew.   UA was pissed off and he and Dykes ended up walking off.  Drew then hit Sonic with the La Casita.  He made the cover and with a hook of the leg, got the 1-2-3.  Drew the Canadian Love Machine gets the win.  Sonic rolls out of the ring and makes his way to the back as Drew stands tall in the ring to the cheering from the fans.  With that, the show comes to an end.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2017 #618 – Tacoma Thunder – PPV fallout

Hello fans and welcome back to our newsletter.  Wow, last night’s show was saw off the chart performances by our roster and some of last night repercussions will surely surface moving forward.  Before the show can begin, the Omegatron lights up and an unannounced, unexpected video stream begins to play.  J C Dykes appears.  “I want my man to be the greatest champion this company has ever seen! I don’t care if the rules allow or not, on behalf of the Unknown Assassin, I challenge TV Chump Fatty Patty SOUL for his belt. You need a quality TV Champion on TV week in and week out. Unknown Assassin is your man. Even though he has a money in the bank contract for any title he could wish for, he wants the TV title and he will even unmask if allowed to challenge for the overblown champion’s belt and he loses. How About it?”  (Just as quick the video stream cuts off).

 

Pyro goes off and the show begins with “Ice Dagger Baby” (based off the ripped off Ice Ice Baby abomination) and Ice Dagger makes his way down to the ring.  The fans boo him but he flips them off nonchalantly.  Next, El Chango comes out and the fans pop for him.  He makes his way down to the ring and stands on the corner turnbuckle with his arm raised but cautiously looking over his shoulder to make sure ID doesn’t attack him.  The match begins.  After a few minutes, El Chango threw ID out of the ring but he was back in at the 7 count and then hit the Ice Breaker.  He then threw El Chango over the top rope and followed him out.  He trapped El Chango under the ringside barrier that he positioned over El Chango’s throat causing it to choke him out.  ID then rolled back into the ring but El Chango was slow to get up and not able to make it back in before the 10 count.  Ice Dagger gets the win via countout.  He laughs as he makes his way to the back.  (6 ½ min)

Backstage, TV Champion Phat Sol says that he will accept the challenge from the Unknown Assassin and his ass-hat of a manager J C Dykes and once he beats UA, he will challenge him for the US title and may even take his mask.

We head back to the ring and Bishop Ripley was making his way out.  Next, he is followed out by Jerry Saunders who gets a so-so reaction from the crowd.  Saunders goes right on the offensive and for 11 minutes, he controlled the match but after Bishop hit the Alien Resurrection, things went his way.  At the 15 minute mark, Saunders went to the turnbuckle and was trying to do something but Ripley jumped over and hit a tiger suplex that elicited a pop from the crowd.  Bishop made the pin getting the 1-2-3.  Bishop Ripley gets the win.  He celebrates briefly before leaving.  (16 min)

Manager Ant Graham is backstage with his monster Covfefe.  Ant says that Covfefe has been burning through the competition (has he…has he really?) and is in need of more competition.  Hangman #3 walks over and says that he can give the monster a run for his money.  After a few moments of Ant laughing hysterically, he finally catches his breath and says “ok.  We’ll see you in the ring…sucka”.

We go back to the ring for 6 man tag team action.  First, Ivan Dragovich, Wendell Hammerschmidt, and Otto Ruthless all make their way down to the ring.  Next, carnival type music plays and out comes our residential clowns – the Muscles Trio.  They are running around on the stage wearing their rainbow colored bull horns getting that cheap pop from the crowd.  The make their way down to the ring and things kick off pretty quick.  Once they go through the triple teaming at the beginning of the match, the Muscles finally got things kicked into high gear and began to take the fight to their opponents.  About 15 minutes in, Ivan’s team began to triple team McGuire and then Weasley but they couldn’t score a pin opportunity.  Finally, Weasley is able to hit a diving cross body on Otto and he went for the cover.  Otto got his foot on the rope almost immediately but Thorpe ran over and knocked it off.  The ref counted to 3 and awarded the match to the Muscles Trio.  The trio then ran around the ring acting all goofy until Ivan and Wendell hit the ring and started beating them down.  Ivan locked Thorpe in the Accolade Clutch and Wendell and Otto threw McGuire and Weasley out of the ring.  Ivan kept the hold on up until the point where the referee was going to fine Ivan.  Ivan let go and laughed and he and his team left while McGuire and Weasley limped back into the ring to help Thorpe to the back.  (19 min)

Back in his office, GM Max McGillicutty says he wants to see more tag team action so he tells Ghee Buttersnaps and Ovaltine Jackson that tonight, they get to take on the Smashers.  He wishes them best of luck and says that a win tonight will get them back into contention for a tag team title match.

We go back to the ring and Hangman #3 comes out and begins to make his way down but the music changes and Covfefe rushes out and attacks him before he can get into the ring.  Ant walks down as his own pace laughing.  Covfefe continues to beat Hangman #3 down and the ref basically calls this a no contest.  Ant gets on the mic and questions “Is this the best that the HCW can give?  Is there no one worth this man’s time?”  Music changes and out comes…well this is a shocker…Pete Punsher.  Pete has a mic and says that Graham has warped Covfefe/Magnum Kone’s mind and turned him into a mindless automaton.  Pete says he’ll withhold his puns for the time being but right now, it’s about kicking some ass.  Covfefe beat down on Pete for the first 5 minutes of the match but then Pete began battling back with a vengeance.  Two minutes later, Pete connected with the Pun-t to the head but Ant panicked and Ant shoved the referee causing the disqualification.  Pete Punsher gets the win.  Pete then grabbed Ant before he could escape and looked to the fans before popping the manager a good one.  He kept looking at the crowd and just as he wound up to deliver the knock out punch, Covfefe grabbed Ant pulling him from harm’s way taking him to the back.  Pete gets a small pop from the crowd and leaves shortly thereafter.  (7 min)

Back in Max’s office, he gets a visit from the IT guy @jowsterguy.  He asks Max for a match against the evil vampire Dr. Red Fang.  Max is weary but @jowsterguy guy says he’ll take two months to train and then wants Fang at the end of the year PPV.  Max grants it.

Action returns to the ring as the Smashers make their way down to booing from the fans. Next, the team of Ghee Buttersnaps and Ovaltine Jackson make their way down as the fans pop for them.  The Smashers go on the offensive first but their opponents stayed right with them.  The Smashers were first to do double teaming but it didn’t yield much of anything.  2 minutes later, Ghee and Ovaltine were on the offensive.  Ovaltine threw Smasher #2 into #1 who was knocked off the apron.  Ovaltine then hit a spinebuster and then Ghee tossed him out of the ring.  Smasher #2 was not able to recover fast enough to beat the 10 count so he got counted out.  Ghee and Ovaltine get the win via countout.  (5 min)

We are back in Max’s office for the third time tonight and after there’s a knock on his door, the NEW World champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine walks in with his title over his shoulder.  Max shakes his hand congratulating him on his win.  He doesn’t get too far into the conversation before former champion Sonic Blade walks in.  Sonic says that Drew got lucky and the only way he can prove he’s the legitimate champion is for him to give Sonic his rematch and then we’d see who the real champion is.  Max started to protest but Drew said that it would be the right thing to do but instead of doing it tonight, they both can travel to Phoenix and on Wednesday, in front of the Phoenix Heat audience, Drew will defeat Sonic one more time and will show who the man is.  Sonic snorts in derision and smirks as he walks off.

It’s time for our Main event:  TV title match:  Phat Sol defends the title against the Unknown Assassin.  UA and his manager J C Dykes comes out first and they are booed.  Security comes out to line the ramp and they head down to the ring amidst the booing (and heckling) from the fans.  The music changes and out comes the TV Champion Phat Sol.  The fans pop for him as he makes his way down to the ring.  Dykes hands over the briefcase with the contract but then is told that the match is a No DQ match.  Dykes smiles.  Dispite UA controlling the match and the constant interfering from Dykes, Phat surprisingly held his own.  Things began going his way after the 10 minute mark but all pin attempts did not materialize into a win.  We catch up with the match at the 17 minute mark.

The Unknown Assassin has just defeated Phat to become the NEW TV Champion.  He is handed the belt and holds that and the US title high.  Phat begins to stir and UA picks him up and then sets him on the top turnbuckle.  He then hits the ropes and connects with a high knee strike that sends Phat tumbling to the floor.   Phat is out cold.  UA goes to and drags Phat back into the ring.  Dykes then pulls out some electric shears and together they shave Phat’s head taking every single hair off his dome.  The Unknown Assassin and his manager stand tall over the prone form of Phat Sol as the fans throw junk at them in the ring.  Dykes stands there laughing as the show comes to an end.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2017 #617 – Halloween Scream PPV

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of our wrestling newsletter.  Tonight, HCW’s two brands Tacoma Thunder and Phoenix Heat are proud to bring you our PPV Halloween Scream live from Tacoma, WA.  The live show is sold out and those streaming it online are ordering it in record numbers.   As mentioned in our last two episodes, we will have two preshow matches with King Wilber taking on his estranged sibling TNT (formerly Turnip Townsend) and the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel) taking on Outback Oscar and the Crocodile Hunter.  Even though all competitors are top notch, there was only so much room on the main card.

Preshow Match #1:  The Steel Curtain vs the Crocodile Hunter and Outback Oscar.  Since this was preshow, neither team got anything in the way of fanfare.  In fact, the arena was only about 60% full by the time this match began.    The Steel Curtain were not happy being relegated to opening act and they took out their frustrations on their opponents.  After what seemed like an eternity (SC purposely dragged the match out), the Ambassador got involved and tripped Croc at the ropes.  Starbuck made the cover and with a handful of tights AND his feet on the ropes, he scored the 1-2-3.  The Steel Curtain get the win.  After the match, they threw Croc and Oscar out of the ring and the fans booed them as the Ambassador stood tall by his team.  (25 min; 195 to 111)

Preshow Match #2:  King Wilber vs TNT.  Again, no fanfare which seemed to irritate Wilber more than it did TNT.  TNT immediately challenged his older sibling to a specialty match and Wilber accepted.  TNT said it would be a “brass knuckles” match.  A few times during the match, TNT got in some really good hits with the brass knucks but Wilber refused to stay down.  The action spilled to the outside of the ring where Wilber kissed the steel steps but that still wasn’t enough to put him out.  After reversing the Go To Sleep, TNT hit a brass knuckle thrust to the chest and Wilber went down to one knee.  He picked him up and nailed a standing suplex.  He stood over Wilber until the Hubers ran down and beat down their cousin.  They helped Wilber up who got them out of the ring and then hit TNT with a lifting sideslam.  Wilber made the laxidazy cover and got the 1-2-3.  King Wilber gets the win and picks up TNT to inflict more damage but TNT’s tag partners the Axe and Scooter J ran down to save him.  Scooter J and the Axe helped TNT to the back.  (20 min; TNT – 130, KW- 100)

After the commotion had ended, pyro goes off and our PPV is officially underway.  The arena is practically busting at the seams and they pop as the camera pans the audience.  They get even louder when GM’s Max McGillicutty and Master Bull come out to thank the fans for attending and promise a show that will be one for the ages.  Bull says that tonight brings an end to some feuds and others very well could continue.  Max wraps things up as pyro goes off once again and our show is officially underway.

Match #1:  The Super Duper Shock Master makes his way out first and he is, of course, booed.  He acts like he’s going to slug a few of the fans but he just keeps walking.  He gets in the ring and takes a mic.  In his modified voice, he addresses his opponent.  “Tonight, you will face your greatest fears and tonight, those fears will consume you.  Once you have lost and are out of HCW, the Super Duper Shock Master will reign supreme and there won’t be anything you can do about it.”  Music changes and out comes Texas Wildfire.  The fans pop is almost deafening.  He slaps the hands of all the fans as he makes his way to the ring (it took an extra minute because he literally slapped every fans’ hand at ringside).  He got in the ring and immediately got into the face of SDSM.  SDSM surprisingly backed off.  The ref reminded us that on the line will be Wildfire’s career vs SDSM’s mask.  Also in the spirit of our Halloween themed PPV, this match will carry a special stipulation – it will carry Lights Out rules.  The two immediately started to slug it out with TW falling after a low blow with a Singapore cane shot. He would eventually battle back breaking the same cane over SDSM’s helmet.  He followed it up with a DDT that didn’t do much damage.  TW then grabbed a chair and hit the leaping DDT onto the chair and then hooks the leg for the 1…2…3!  Texas Wildfire gets the win and immediately pulls the helmet off revealing a normal looking guy.  TW seems a bit perplexed.  He drops the helmet in confusion and leaves the ring.  He makes it up the ramp and turns to the fans who pop for him again.  Just as he turns around, he is attacked by the returning Super Shockmaster.  SS beats TW down and then hits TW with a couple of power headbutts busting TW up.  SS stands over TW and laughs that mechanical laugh before walking off.

Manager J C Dykes is backstage with the US Champion the Unknown Assassin.  Dykes tells the wrestling world that his man will breeze through tonight’s match dulling the Axe and setting his sights on the next title he wants.  Dykes threatens that if UA gets his way, then the world will get to experience the AWESOMENESS that is the Unknown Assassin.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  From the ceiling, the Hell in the Cell structure is lowered (but still high enough for the competitors to enter the ring) and we’re ready for our next match.  First, music hits and out comes Brick.  The reaction he gets isn’t as bad as it’s been and a good portion of the fans actually like him.   Brick enters the hellacious structure.  Next, Scooter J comes out and he makes a beeline for the ring.  Scooter J slides under the cage just as it touches down and he and Brick start beating the tar out of each other.  Brick hits a spinebuster but SJ slams Brick’s head into the steps.  Scooter J lays in with 10 punches and then goes for a quick pin but only gets a 2 count.  Scooter J eye rakes Brick and then goes to execute a Hell move but Brick reverses it trying for a spinebuster but SJ reverses it again hitting a bodyslam.  He goes for the cover again but again, only a 2 count.  Brick hits a low blow and a piledriver.  He goes for the pin but SJ kicks out at 2.  SJ gets tossed over the top rope but he hung on.  Brick hits the ropes and connects with a Fly through the ropes and into the cage spear type of move.  SJ crumples.  Brick throws the limp form of SJ back into the ring and rolls him up and got the 1-2-3.  Brick gets the win and the fans actually pop for him.  Brick leaves the ring and Scooter J had to be helped to the back.  (6 min)

Dr Red Fang is backstage and he seems to be looking for the IT guy @jowsterguy.  He doesn’t see him but turns to the camera and starts to comment.

        “Thankfully we don't have to rely on @jowsterguy to provide the entertainment around here.”

        (In a mocking voice) “@jowsterguy: work faster! Programming isn't that hard.”

And Finally…

        “What kind of pencil neck geek would ask a question like that? @jowersterguy of course.”

Out of nowhere, our IT guy rushes in attacking Fang but Fang throws him against the wall and then hits him with a Vampire Lunge.  He then hits a Transylvania piledriver and went to inflict more damage but security rushed in and prevents further damage.  Fang is escorted away screaming “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE!” 

It’s time for our next match.  First, one third of the 6 man champs The Axe comes out to a pop from the crowd.  He makes his way down but as soon as he gets in the ring, his music is cut off. Next, manager J C Dykes comes out and introduces the US Champion the Unknown Assassin. The fans boo and Dykes stands there impatiently tapping his foot and he yells “anytime now” and finally security comes out and lines the walkway down to the ring.  Dykes and the champ make their way down to the ring as security holds the irate fans back.  Early on, the Axe locked in a bearhug but Dykes came to his rescue.  Dykes would stick his nose into the match to give the champ an advantage but Axe would just battle back.  Towards the end of the match, Axe hits UA with a backbreaker but Dykes rushes in and throws a fireball into the Axe’s face blinding him but it resulted in a disqualification.  The Axe wins the match but unfortunately not the title.  UA and Dykes leave the ring with the title.  The Axe leaves shortly thereafter.  (17 min)

Manager the Ambassador is backstage and he tells the world that he has taken on a new team to manage and introduces Elitism.  He says Reid and Rothchild will be the next champs and the team of the future.

We go back to the ring for the next match.  The Ambassador comes out and leads Elitism – Reid and Roderick Rothchild down to the ring to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  We’re not sure why Reid and Roderick aligned themselves with him but maybe we’ll find out soon.  Next, Figgy Newton comes out and introduces the World Tag Team Champions Hoff n Spicy – Davis Hoffmeister & DJ CJ Spice.  The champs control the match and just as Reid and Roderick started to make a comeback, the Steel Curtain – Buzz and Starbuck Steel – make their way out and confront the Ambassador.  They totally ignore the match taking place and just start questioning what the hell their manager is up to.  DJ took advantage of the distraction and hit Reid with a bulldog.  DJ made the cover and got the 1-2-3.  Hoff n Spicy retain the titles.  They, along with their manager Figgy Newton, then left to a pop from the crowd.  The Steel Curtain, the Ambassador and Elitism were all in the ring yelling at each other and the Steel Curtain stormed off.  Elitism and the Ambassador then followed.  (12 min)

Figgy Newton makes his way back into the interview area and he says that Hoff N Spicy retained and coming up next, Taylor Bella will retain…hands down.  He claps his hands and rubs them together and head off camera.

It’s time for our Fatal Four for the Ladies title.  First, Madame Jade makes her way out to a pop from the crowd.  Next, the Duchess makes her way out and she is booed.  Third, Starr Vixen makes her way out to a pop.  Finally, Figgy Newton comes out and introduces the Ladies Champion Taylor Bella.  Taylor comes out and she is booed but she doesn’t care.  She and Figgy make their way to the ring.  Throughout the entire match, Starr Vixen was the shinning…err… star during the entire match.  She took the fight to everyone in the ring and on numerous occasions, came close to getting the 3 count but every competitor in this match would not let the others get the win.  The match closed in on the 30 minute mark, all four women got into the ring and just began slugging it out.  The Duchess hits a Lou Thesz Press on the Star while Madame Jade hits the champ with the Jade Breaker and locked it in but before Taylor could tap out, the bell rang bringing this one to a time limit draw.  Figgy immediately pulled Taylor out of the ring and handed her the title and helped her to the back.   Starr left disappointed leaving the Duchess and Madame Jade alone in the ring.  The Duchess began poking Jade with her finger calling her a glory hound and that the Duchess should be the face of HCW in Tacoma and Jade ruined that.  The Duchess then slapped Jade across the face but Jade locked in the Jade Breaker and trapped her right in the middle of the ring.  The Duchess was slapping the mat signaling she was tapping out but it didn’t matter as the match was over.  Madame Jade finally let go and left to a pop from the fans.  The Duchess, embarrassed, was able to leave under her own power.  (30 min for the match; 5 for the additional segment)

There seems to be a few things going on backstage.  First, Figgy Newton was running around gloating about his teams retaining their belts but then ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger showed up and Figgy bolted out of the building.

Next, Drew the Canadian Love Machine was backstage cutting a promo.  “What does being the World Champion mean to me?  It means being the best in the World; it means being the face of the organization; it means everyone is gunning for you.  Sonic, tonight the best man is going to walk out of that ring and will walk out with the championship.  I’ve waited long enough and tonight, I will wear gold once again.  Then, you’ll see why you don’t mess with this dog.”

Elsewhere backstage, World Champion Sonic Blade is cutting his own promo.  “Are you ready to see Sonnnnnnnnic Blaaaaaaade?  You are going to be Thunderstruck; tasting the mat. Drew, I know you’re going to enjoy your time there.  Be prepared to feel the disappointment that accompanies losing.”

It’s time for our Main Event.  First, Drew the Canadian Love Machine comes out and the fans’ pop is the loudest it’s been all night.  He slaps the hands of the fans as he makes his way to the ring and proceeds to climb each corners’ turnbuckles to louder and louder pops (not sure how that is possible but it kept happening).  He removes his jacket as the music changes and out comes the World Champion Sonic Blade.  Sonic wastes no time and heads to the ring sliding under the bottom rope.  He removes the title and holds it high showing it off to the fans on each side of the ring.  Once done, he hands the title to the ref and meets Drew in the center of the ring.  Some jawjacking occurs but just before the bell rings, GM Max McGillicutty comes out and announces that, as the crown jewel of the night, this match will have a special stipulation and that will be…our second HELL IN A CELL match and the cage lowers from the ceiling and then encompasses the ring.  The bell then rings starting this one off.

Hello fans and welcome to the latest episode of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  Well, our PPV Halloween Scream is just around the corner and the event in Tacoma, WA is completely sold out but you can catch the show live on PPV.  GM Master Bull comes out and thanks the fans for attending tonight’s show.  His first announcement is that he is adding another show to the preshow and that will be Crocodile Hunter and Outback Oscar taking on the Steel Curtain.  After the announcement, Buzz and Starbuck Steel come out and Starbuck questions why they, former champs in both tag team and six man, are curtain jerkers.  Buzz gets into Master Bull’s face asking if he, like GM Max McGillicutty has it in for them.  Bull tells them they are fortunate to have this as they can be taken off the show completely and then where will be then?  Buzz and Starbuck storm off.   Bull applauds and says the show begins now.

Pyro goes off and our show begins with Scarlett Phoenix making her way down to the ring to a pop from the crowd.  Her opponent Sarona Reiher follows moments later.  The two lock up just as the bell rings.  Sarona took control early on but it didn’t take long for Scarlett to fight back and go toe to toe with her opponent.  The final 4 minutes of the match saw Scarlett beat the tar out of Sarona which led to Scarlett connecting with a frankensteiner and getting the 3 count in the middle of the ring.  Scarlett wins the match and adds another W to her win column.  (12 min)

Backstage, Starr Vixen confronts Southern Belle backstage and calls her out for the attack on her.  Belle tells her that this is only getting started and will only end when Belle regains the Ladies title.  She bumps into Starr as she walks off.

We head back to the ring and ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger makes his way down to the ring and made sure to swing by the woman who now appears to be his #1 fan.  He gets in to the ring as the fans pop.  The music changes and out comes ‘Perfect’ Pecs Stoddard.  The fans boo him as he heads down to the ring.  For 16 minutes, Winger and Stoddard went toe to toe with neither man getting much of a leg up.  Stoddard then hit a low blow that changed the pace of the match to his favor but Winger would not give up.  Pecs kept getting frustrated.  Just as we entered the final minute of the match, Winger went for an arm drag but Pecs reversed it dropping Top Gun with a running double axe handle smash.  Pecs went for the pin and the ref counted 1… 2…and Winger got his foot on the bottom rope just as the time limit ran out.  Winger survived and the match ended in a draw.  Pecs stormed out and Winger made his way to the back.  (20 min draw)

Backstage, we have a visit from World Champion Sonic Blade.  He is approached by the US Champion the Unknown Assassin.  UA looks Blade up and down and says he could and would break him and take that precious title.  He holds up the briefcase that entitles him to a title shot and says he could cash this in right now and take Blade’s title but he has other plans.  UA then walks off.

We head back to the ring as the next match begins.  First, 5^th Column member Baron von Blood makes his way out and is booed.  Next, music from the Misfits plays and out comes the Fiend.  The fans pop for him as he makes his way down to the ring.  Baron went on the offensive for about 2 minutes but then with the fans backing him, the Fiend began dismantling Baron shortly after that and there was no looking back (149 to 81).  The Fiend ended up getting the pin after locking in the Devil lock (figure four) and Baron didn’t get his shoulders up in time.  The Fiend celebrates with the fans before leaving.  (18 min)

Ladies Champion Taylor Bella is backstage with her manager Figaroa ‘Figgy’ Newton and she says she can’t understand why she’s being forced to defend her title tonight and then again in just a few days at the PPV.  Figgy tells her that as her manager, he has her back and he’ll make sure that after tonight’s main event, she will be walking out with her belt.  The interviewer tried to ask Figgy about ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger but he escorted Taylor off the set and kept walking.

We go back to the ring as the next match begins.  Red McNulty comes out first and the fans boo him.  Next, the Crocodile Hunter comes out and the fans pop louder than they have all night.  He soaks in the adulation from the crowd and makes his way to the ring.  He climbs onto the apron and shakes the ropes (ala Ultimate Warrior) and the fans get even louder. McNulty doesn’t care for the showboating so he, like any bad guy would, attacks Croc.  Croc just sort of shrugged him off and opened a can of whoop-ass on Red and it was embarrassing (141 to 62).  To Red’s credit though, he would not stay down for the pin or tap out.  He always seemed to make it to the ropes just in the nick of time.  Red had dragged this embarrassment of a match to a full 20 minutes and after Croc hit a bodyslam, it looked like he would finally get the pin but the bell rang just as the ref’s hand was coming down for the 3 count.  The match ends in a draw and Red limps out of there.  Croc was a bit frustrated but when the fans popped for him again, he forgot about that and then interacted with them before leaving. (20 min draw)

The Super Duper Shock Master is backstage and he says that on Sunday, he gets Texas Wildfire in the ring and will show him the meaning of the word “pain”.   He said he would put Texas Wildfire through pain and suffering that no one would have experienced in 1000 years.  (Maybe it’s us but we think the glittered covered Stormtrooper helmet has been squishing SDSM’s brain for too long.

We go back to the ring for more action as ‘Dude USA’ Mick Rude comes out to “Born in the USA” by Bruce Springsteen (he’d better have gotten permission to use that music) and he gets a decent reaction from the crowd.  Next, Texas Wildfire makes his way out and his pop is about equal to the one Croc got earlier. TW makes his way to the ring but over the loudspeakers, we hear “Texas Wildfire…your time has come…be prepared to meet your maker.  HAHAHAHA!”  He tries not to let that dissuade him.  TW goes on the offensive but then an image of the Super Duper Shock Master shows up on the Omega Tron.  Clearly, SDSM is trying to throw TW off his game.  It doesn’t work.  TW keeps up the offensive and after hitting the hangman’s clothesline, he makes the cover, hooking the leg and getting the 1-2-3.  Texas Wildfire gets the win but it is short lived as SDSM rushes out (making sure not to trip and lose his helmet) and attacks TW but Wildfire was on…fire and he managed to oust SDSM from the ring MINUS his helmet.   SDSM was wearing a mask underneath and his face wasn’t shown.  TW hurls the helmet back at him and asks for a mic.  He tells SDSM that he wants to ensure that SDSM’s mask in on the line and if Shock Master loses, the mask comes off and we see his face…no covering underneath…no makup….SDSM begins to laugh but then Master Bull comes out.  Bull tells SDSM that these are going to be the conditions of the match and if SDSM doesn’t like it, he’ll show him the (one way) door.  SDSM tried to pout but it looked pretty silly coming from a guy wearing a glittered covered Stormtrooper helmet.  He finally relented and left.  Texas Wildfire left the ring and shook hands with Master Bull.  Both men left.  (18 min for the match; 5 for the additional segment)

It’s time for our main event.  First, Madame Jade makes her way down to the ring to a pop from the crowd.   Next, the Ladies Champion Taylor Bella makes her way out with her manager Figgy Newton.  The reaction she receives is not what she would have hoped for but she didn’t care – she is the champion after all. Once in the ring, the match quickly got underway.  Jade had control of the match early on but after Figgy got involved, things began going the champs’ way.  Figgy was getting ready to intervene again but ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger came out and chased Figgy to the back.  Starr Vixen then came out as did the Duchess and both ended up getting involved resulting in a DQ (16 min).  GM Master Bull comes out one last time and says that the triple threat match that was going to be for the Ladies Title has now become a Fatal Four Way with Madame Jade being added in and that’s the way it is.  Taylor throws a tantrum as the show comes to an end.
