Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter. Things continue to heat up as we head towards our 3 day April PPV – Critical Mass. Before that, we will have our fanfest and the Hall of Fame presentation. Drew the Canadian Love Machine and Davis Hoffmeister have both been announced with 2 more to go. We got word earlier that the #3 inductee will be announced tonight. We are also having two sets of tag team matches where two teams will move on. Finally, the World Champion the Wicked Prophet has been running his mouth again so tonight, we will have a men’s battle royal with the winner getting a title match against the champion. The US Champion and King of HCW ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo defends the title in our main event. There is no time to waste so let’s get the action started.
Our
show kicks off with the men’s battle royal.
One by one, most of the roster made their way out. Notably missing were Butch and Ferb Huber,
the 5th Column, the Steel Curtain and the Freedom Fighters as they
are all vying for that match at the PPV for the World Tag Team Titles.
The
men file out but someone seems to be missing.
The camera cuts to the back and we see a forklift parked in front of a
door. The person on the other side is
pounding. Staff try to move the machine
but no one can find the key. One of the
construction workers thinks there is a spare and runs off. The camera gets a glimpse of the person’s
name on the door….Jack Lumber.
The
battle royal begins without the flannel wearing lumberjack. Tommy Lightning sneaks out of the ring and
hides under the ring apron. The match continues
until most were gone and then Tommy snuck back in. Tommy stayed out of the way letting the
others beat the snot out of each other until there are two men left standing –
Muscles Thorpe and Tommy Lightning. Just
then, freed from the confines of his “prison”, Jack Lumber rushes down to the
ring just at Tommy throws Thorpe over the top rope. Jack was in before Thorpe hit the ground so
Tommy doesn’t get the win. Tommy complains
to the ref but the ref tells him that Jack is still part of this. Tommy sees something out of the corner of his
eye and immediately distracts the ref.
Just then, the World Champion the Wicked Prophet hits the ring and
smashes Jack with a steel chair before hitting the Unrighteous Dominion. He then leaves quickly before the ref can see
him. Tommy picks Jack up and hurls him
over the top rope to the floor. Tommy
Lightning gets the win and wins a future title match. Tommy jumps for joy and holds the Money in
the Bank contract close to his chest.
This brings out GM Max McGillicutty.
Max says that Jack was not given a fair shake being locked in (allegedly
by the Wicked Prophet) so Max says that Tommy will have to defend that contract
in a one on one match with Jack Lumber later in the show. Jack makes it to his feet rubbing his back
and Tommy, pissed at the turn of events, attacks Jack until the ref pulled him
off. Tommy says if he is being forced to
do this, he wants the match to be a no DQ match. Jack, wincing in pain, agrees.
The
Omegatron lights up announcing the 3rd member to be inducted into
the HCW 2021 Hall of Fame… Phat Sol! The
fans pop as they see the Phat Man’s image light up for all to see. A quick montage plays and it’s announced that
he will be inducted by former GM and current HCW superstar Master Bull.
Up
next is the 3rd qualifying match to see who moves on in the Tag Team
Title tournament. First, 5th
Column members Baron von Blood and Oswald Zimmerman come out to massive booing
from the fans. They make their way into
the ring and continue the taunting. Next,
the Hubers (Butch and Ferb) come out and actually get a nice pop compared to
the evil Column. The Hubers get the
advantage early and hold it throughout the match. At the 15 minute mark, Ferb hits Oswald with
a spinning side slam and covers him for the 1-2-3. The Hubers advance. Just as the fans started to cheer for them,
the mocked them which turned the cheers to boos pretty quick.
Tommy
Lightning is backstage complaining to anyone who would listen about having to
defend HIS contract. Everyone ignores
him.
Our
next match is ready to go. The music
hits and the fans pop huge as everyone’s favorite soccer mom Violet Valkyrie
makes her way out. She high fives with
the fans and races around the ring before sliding under the bottom rope. As she climbs the turnbuckle to elicit even
louder pops from the crowd, her music is abruptly shut off and her opponent
Lady Hermann makes her way out. The fans
boo about as loudly as they cheered for Violet.
Lady Hermann threatens to hit a few of the fans mocking her but she showed
restraint. She gets into the ring and
motions like she’s going to break Violet.
Violet motions her to “bring it”.
Lady Hermann got some cheap shots in early that gave her the advantage
but Violet began battling back. Just
then, J9 ran out and started to mock Violet.
J9 got right up next to the ring and began taunting Violet. Violet reached for her and J9 slugged
her. Violet staggered back into the ring
only to get hit with a big boot to the face.
Lady Hermann made the cover but Violet got her foot on the ropes but J9
knocked it off before the ref could see it and counted to 3 awarding the match
to Lady Hermann. J9 jumped in the ring
and she and Lady Hermann started to put the boots to Violet until Queen Goldie
Locks ran out (not very royal like) and tackled Lady Hermann. Violet dazzled J9 with all her moves before
hitting a diving back elbow that sent J9 tumbling out of the ring. Goldie hurled Lady Hermann out of the
ring. GM Max McGillicutty came out and
said that even though there is no room on the card tonight, next week, Queen Goldie
and Violet will team up to take on J9 and Lady Hermann. Goldie and Violet were pleased.
Jack
Lumber is backstage being interviewed.
He says that the only way Tommy was able to beat him was help from the
diabolical Wicked Prophet. Jack tells
Prophet he’s coming for him.
We’re
ready for our next Tag Team Match.
First, the Freedom Fighters (Justice and Flash) come out to boos from the
crowed. They mostly ignore the fans and
enter the ring. A moment later, the
music changes and the fans pop huge as the Steel Curtain – Buzz and Starbuck
Steel – make their way out. They high
five with the fans and make their way to the ring. The climb in and each go to separate corners
climbing the turnbuckles. The fans
continue to pop. They step down and are
ready for the match to begin. The Steel Curtain get the advantage early and
manage to hold on to it. The Curtain
went for the pin a few times early on only for the Fighters to kick out. At the 10 minute mark, Justice catches
Starbuck with a sleeper hold but Buzz manages to make the save. Buzz tags in to give his brother a rest. Four minutes later, Buzz gets dropped with a
630 Senton Bomb but he rolls through it and tags Starbuck back in. Starbuck hits Flash with a Starplex before
hitting a Hangman’s DDT. Buzz rushes in
and tackles Justice taking both of them tumbling out of the ring. Starbuck makes the cover and gets the
1-2-3. The Steel Curtain get the win and
move on in the tournament. (16 min)
Backstage,
TNT approaches the US Champion and King of HCW ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad
Gumbo. He begins to mock him and Gumbo
responds that Scooter J got so tired of carrying TNT that he quit. TNT says that Gumbo best watch his mouth. Gumbo says that TNT needs his brother to
fight his battles for him and TNT says that Wilber will not be accompanying him
as he can do it himself. Rad says he’ll
see him in the ring.
Up
next, is the fight for the Money in the Bank contract. Music hits and we hear “TIMMMMBERRRR” and out
comes the flannel wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber. He stops and visits the Lumber Lounge before
making his way to the ring. He gets into
the ring and climbs the corner but his music is abruptly shut off and we hear “Lightning
strikes twice” and out comes Tommy Lightning.
Tommy is booed heavily and he responds but saluting the fans…a one
finger salute (the jerk). He makes his
way to the ring and gets in. He holds
his contract high and says Jack will never win it. The match begins. Jack takes control early on but Tommy started
to make a comeback. We join the match at
the 8 min mark.

official…Jack Lumber gets a title shot of his choice. Jack takes the mic and declares he is going
to challenge Wicked Prophet for the World Title at the PPV. He celebrates with the fans until he is
attacked from behind by the Wicked Prophet.
Prophet hits the Unrighteous Dominion on the floor and leaves Jack
laying. Prophet says he’ll see Jack at
the PPV.
Backstage,
Tommy is complaining that getting hit with the Axe from Jack Lumber has given
him a concussion. He says he will sue.
It’s
time for our main event. First, AC/DC’s “TNT”
plays and Templeton N. Townsend makes his way out to booing from the crowd. He makes his way to the ring and enters. A minute later, the music stops and we hear “GUMBO
7:30 MEANS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” before the music changes to one more regal
and fit for a King and out comes the Ragin King Rad Gumbo. Gumbo makes his way out and gets into the
ring. He waves to the crowd and they pop
for him. He removes his cape and crown
handing it to the ringside staff. The
match begins.

Rad
Gumbo gets the win and the fans pop.
Gumbo’s former manager Ms. Alexandria shows up on stage and Gumbo is
questioned why she’s there. He turns
just in time to see Madman Mason rushing at him. Rad sidesteps him and using his momentum,
sends him flying through the ropes.
Mason slams his hands on the ring apron, frustrated. Gumbo stands tall in the ring. Gumbo holds the ropes open for him and Mason
acts like he’s going to re-enter the ring but ends up walking backwards up the
ramp. The show comes to an end with both
men staring at each other.
Things
continue to heat up so stay tuned.
