Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter. Well, we just got done with Day 1 of the Critical Mass PPV and man, it didn’t disappoint. As a quick recap, here is a list of the matches with the winners:
· J9 defeated (cheated) Hayley Hailstorm to go on to today’s Fatal Four Way to see who will take on Korbi Kong for the Ladies Title.
· The Freedom Fighters and the Regulators wrestled to a 30 min draw.
· Master Bull defended and retained the Anytime/Anywhere title not once but twice against ‘Luke Warm’ Lucas Johnston. He agreed to defend the title on Day 3 of the show.
· Texas Wildfire defeated Dr. Red Fang in a Death match to win the Hardcore Title.
· The Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman were victorious in retaining the 6 Man Tag Team Titles against the team of Tommy Lightning, Apollo Gyze and Jake ‘the Bounty Hunter’ Montrose.
We
begin backstage with the arrival of one half of the DD Double D duo Dash
Woodbrick (that’s a lot of D’s). Dash
makes his entrance into the arena. There is a group of grade school kids who
won a contest to watch the matches backstage, meet some wrestlers, all of that.
As the kids walk past Dash, a really mouthy little kid says something about him
going to lose the Tag Team Match for the titles. Dash then walks up to him,
pulls his short over his head, picks him up and puts him in a garbage can. He then proceeds to make fun of each other kid
one by one. “That’s a fat one”; “Do those ears get Wi-Fi?”; “I remember you,
your mom’s hot”. Dash walks off; the
kids are left devastated and crying.
Pyro
goes off and it looks like our show is underway. The lights go dim and Wilber Townsend,
wearing his creepy Pennywise mask, makes his way out to the ring. He demands a mic and says it was a
miscarriage of justice leaving him off the show and he is not going anywhere
until he gets an opponent. This brings
out GM Max McGillicutty. Max says that
everyone of consequence is already on the card and if Wilber was left off,
well, that just means he wasn’t needed.
Just then, a man wearing a hoodie approached the stage and motioned to
Max. Max laid down the mic and went to
talk to the hooded figure. After a brief
conversation, Max walks back and picks up the mic. He tells Wilber that there will be many
changes coming to HCW after the break including new wrestlers but this man
(points to the hooded dude), who was supposed to debut next month, is here now
and is willing to accept the match.
Wilber agrees as a wicked smile crosses his face. The hooded guy makes his way to the
ring. He removes his hoodie and it’s
revealed to be a masked man; wearing purple and black (HEY, is that who we saw
yesterday in the rafters?) We don’t know
this man’s identity so for S&G’s, we’ll just call him… Frank.
Before
the match could begin, TNT rushes out and attacks “Frank” beating him down and
then dropping him with the TNT. He and
his brother Wilber stand laughing. Max,
still on the stage, says this will not sit.
Adam Jameson and Billy Robbins then makes their way out and says if
Wilber and TNT are up to it, they will fight them here and now. Wilber motions for them to come on down. The camera goes to look where “Frank” was but
he was mysteriously gone. Adam and Billy
rush down but are attacked upon entering the ring. The bell rings but the damage was already
done. The Townsend boys dominated the
match even pulling their opponents up by the hair after going for a pin. We join the match at the 18 minute mark.

team of Wilber Townsend and TNT get the win and the fans boo heavily. Wilber starts to laugh maniacally and he and TNT
eventually leave.
We
head backstage where the four ladies competing for a shot at the Ladies Title
are arguing. Maxine and J9 are berating
Violet and Catalina. Violet says they
will settle this in the ring.
Madman
Mason is backstage with his manager Ms. Alexandria and he hands her something
which she puts into her purse. He tells
her she’ll know when to use it.
For
our next match, J9 makes her way out first to massive boos from the crowd. Once in the ring, the music changes and out
comes Catalina Harper. The ‘cat’ lady
makes her way to the ring and starts to enter but J9 keeps kicking the ropes to
keep her out. The music changes again
and out comes ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito.
Maxine is booed heavier than J9.
There is a lot riding on this match as not only does the winner get a
shot at the Ladies title but if J9 or Maxine are the one pinned, they are out
of HCW (editor’s note: If Violet or
Catalina get pinned, they are NOT out of HCW – the stipulation is only against
Maxine and J9). Maxine gets in the ring
and stands with J9 and they keep Catalina out of the ring. Finally, the stage fills with fog and like a
blast, Violet ziplines her way down to the ring. She gets a huge welcome from the fans. She lowers herself into the ring, detaches
and climbs the turnbuckles. Catalina
enters watching Violet’s back. The four
ladies meet in the center of the ring.
Just then, music hit and out comes the Ladies Champion Korbi Kong. Korbi makes her way to the commentary booth
where she says she has a vested interest in seeing the outcome. Maxine and J9 try to jaw jack with her but
the ref tells them to go to their corner so the match can begin. As soon as the match begain, Violet was
double teamed by J9 and Maxine and then was powerbombed through the Spanish
Announce table (we just had it fixed dammit) effectively taking her out of most
of the match. Korbi did check on her but
returned to commentary. As there is a
lot riding on this one, we’re including 10 minutes of match action.

The fans taunt her as she makes the ‘walk of shame’ up the ramp and
through the curtains.
Dash
Woodbrick ends up outside again. He
walks over to the bus that brought those kids in and he spraypaints the word “LOSERS”
on it. He tosses the can, laughs and
walks away. We did find out also that
one of the boys in attendance is actually the son of one of HCW’s
superstars. I’m sure we will find out
sooner or later who that is.
Up
next is our match for the US Championship.
First, some creepy music plays and out comes Madman Mason accompanied by
Ms. Alexandria. The duo walk to the ring
amid boos from the crowd. Mason smiles
evilly. He’s taken Gumbo’s manager and
tonight, plans on taking the title too. Once in the ring, Mason grabs a mic and
thanks his manager for “seeing the light” and revealing what a scumbag our
current King and US Champion are (his words, not mine). Mason then says that he doesn’t want Gumbo to
have any reason to cry when he loses the title so he asks for this match to be “street
fight” rules. Royal music plays and out
comes the King of HCW and our US Champion ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo. Gumbo sits atop a throne wearing his robe and
crown. He tells his minions to set him
down. He removes the crown and cape and slings
the US title over his shoulder. He then
walks to the ring on his own. He gets
right in and snatches the mic out of Mason’s hand. He agrees to the stipulation. Mason attacks. Gumbo fights back and Mason hurls the referee
out of the ring for getting in his way.
Mason goes crazy on Gumbo until the fight spilled to the outside. After getting thrown into the steel railing,
Rad removed the padding around the ring and bodyslammed Mason on the exposed
concrete. Ms. Alexandria made it look
like she was going to get involved but then backed off. Right about the 8th minute of the
match, the ref recovered and made it back in.

fans pop HUGE for Gumbo and the win. Ms.
Alexandria climbs in the ring to check on Mason. She looks at Rad who climbed the corner
turnbuckle holding his title high and then reaches into her purse for something. It’s a pair of brass knuckles. She walks up behind Rad and, like a snake
getting ready to strike, she draws her hand back. Mason gets to his feet and smiles. Gumbo steps down and turns around to see his
manager. An ever so slight smile cracks
his lips as she turns and BLASTS Mason with the brass knuckles knocking him
out. It looks like she’s had a change of
heart. Gumbo and Ms. Alexandria hug
making it look like they have reconciled.
The King raises the hand of his manager to a deafening pop from the
crowd. Gumbo and Ms. Alexandria leave
together. Mason eventually recovers and
makes his way to the back.
Buzz
and Starbuck Steel are backstage. “’Buck,
how long has it been since we held the Tag belts?” Starbuck ponders the question. “I would have to say at least a year. You know, we’ve put many teams over and after
all this time, it’s time for us to take the belts.” Buzz agrees. “Dash Woodbrick is trash. That guy Dennis isn’t so bad but why he’s teaming
with him is beyond me. Tonight, they
become a non-factor.” Starbuck leans in
and says “WORD”.
It’s
time for the finals for the World Tag Team Titles. Music hits and out comes the Steel
Curtain. The fans pop huge for
them. They make their way to the ring
shaking hands with the fans. They enter
and climb the turnbuckles eliciting even more excitement from the crowd. They step down and go to their corner of the
ring. The music changes and out comes
Dennis Marshall and Dash Woodbrick. Some
fans tried to cheer for Dennis but it was drowned out by the venom being spit
at Dash. Dash begins to make his way
around the ring when he sees the kids from the back siting around
ringside. He goes over to the commentary
desk and snatches a microphone. “Good
Lord, will you look at these vile creatures.
You (pointing to one child), just how UGLY are you? Who cut your hair? A gorilla?”
Dash began laughing so hard (and the kids started crying) he had to
catch his breath. Dash sees the kid
whose underwear he pulled over his head eating an ice cream cone. Dash walked over, sneered at the kid and then
SLAPPPED the cone right out of his hand.
He started laughing again. Once
he stopped, he got into the ring and flipped off the Steel Curtain. The bell then rang. For the first 5 minutes or so, The Curtain
dominated. Then, after some sneaky,
underhanded things (mostly by Dash), Dash and Dennis took control of the
match. The Curtain tried to stay with
them but to no avail. We join this match
(extended results) at the 17 minute mark after Buzz tagged Starbuck in and
Dennis tagged in Dash.

attack Buzz and Starbuck biting them and smacking them on the legs and
butts. This allowed Dash to smash Starbuck
with a steel chair busting him open..

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! The DD Double D Duo Dennis Marshall and
Dash Woodbrick have won the match and are the NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!! Dash leaves the ring and walks over to the
kids and addresses them one by one.
"In
your face" to the little “wifi” kid.
“Not
even a mother would kiss that face...”
One
of them asked “Are you my daddy?” Dash responded
“No, I would have returned a dud like you."
The
next kid asks the same questions and Dash laughs before responding “No, you're
not from my genetic milkshake.” (A reference to a line from Danny DeVito from
Twins).
Dennis
goes out of the ring and gets Dash to stop.
They take their titles and start to head to the back but the midgets who
helped him earlier show up looking for a payout for interfering. Dash kicks one to the floor and picks up the
other one and BODYSLAMS him on the ramp.
He then put the boots to that one before turning back to the first and
dropping an elbow on him. He gets up
laughing and continues his way to the back. What an ass!
We
head backstage to chat with Catalina Harper.
She says that Korbi by far, is her toughest opponent. She knows she’ll have to move hell or high
water to win but she is up to the challenge.
Also
backstage with Larry Morton is Ladies Champion Korbi Kong. Larry basically asks a bunch of questions and
Korbi finishes it with only 3 words…Korbi Kong Smash.
It’s
main event time! First, Catalina Harper
makes her way out to a nice pop from the crowd.
She interacts with her fans as she makes her way to the ring. She enters and continues to psyche up the
fans. The music changes and out comes
the Ladies Champion Korbi Kong. The
Champ also interacts with fans as she makes her way to the ring. She enters immediately and climbs the
turnbuckle holding her title high. She
does that on all 4 corners of the squared circle. Once she handed the title to the ref, the
match began. The champ got control of
the match early going for multiple pin attempts only for Catalina to kick
out. We now join the match at the 9
minute mark.
