HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #892 – 3/17

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  On today’s show, we have the announcement of the first member of the HCW Class of 2021 inductees; Queen Goldie Locks will be in action; we’ll have an update on the status of Violet Valkyrie and see the World Tag Team titles on the line.  Let’s get this party started.

GM Max McGillicutty comes out first to a pop from the crowd.  Max says he’s starting off the show by announcing the first inductee into this year’s Hall of Fame.  He points up to the Omegatron and it shows faces of all the members of the HCW roster.  A box appears and then zips all over the screen landing on…the one and only…Drew the Canadian Love Machine.   The fans pop and Drew shows up on the big screen.  Drew says that he knew he went down a wrong path but was glad that Jack Lumber and the fans were there to bring him back from the edge of darkness.  Drew says that he’s been having issues with vertigo as of late and it’s gotten bad enough that he can no longer perform at the level he has in the past so he made the decision to hang up the boots for good.  That, coupled with the attack from the Wicked Prophet, will make it impossible to continue with an in-ring career.  He thanks the fans for their years of support.   The fans pop again and Max announces that Drew will be inducted by his one-time partner and friend, former HCW wrestler the Savior.   Max leaves the stage so the event can start.

Our first match of the night is ready to get underway.  First, familiar music plays and out comes Texas Wildfire.  The fans give him a healthy reception.  He makes his way to the ring and enters continuing to psyche up the crowd.  His music is abruptly shut off and replaced by an image of sticks of dynamite with the words TNT on them.  The dynamite then explodes on the screen coinciding with an explosion of pyro and out comes TNT.  The fans boo him and he flips them off.  He makes his way to the ring and enters.  The match begins and is pretty evenly matched throughout the entire match.  We join now at the 17 minute mark.

Texas Wildfire gets the win and a nice pop from the crowd.  TNT makes his way to the back while TW stays and interacts with the fans before leaving.

Backstage, the TV Champion the Banker says that HCW really is lacking in talent.  He comments how someone like Texas Wildfire can defeat someone line TNT but he can’t hold a candle to him; in fact, no one can.  He says he may have to go ‘to Stamford’ or the ‘offices in Florida’ in order to find someone worthy.  Derek Deveraux walks over and ask “How about me?  I think I might do well against you.”  The Banker started laughing.  Ruth Heartless speaks up.  “You’re kidding right?  Listen kid, no one gets a title match against the Banker unless I give the ok.  You want a title shot, you have to earn it.”  Derek ponders for a moment “How’s this…a non-title match tonight and if I win, I get a shot at the title.  The Banker smirks.  “Sure kid. Might as well get your ass-kicking over with.”  He motions to off camera and Derek leaves.  Ruth leans over and whispers something and they follow.

Next match on the card, Tommy Lightning comes out first to a chorus of boos from the crowd.  It really gets under his skin when they do that.  He makes his way to the ring.  As soon his jacket was off, the music changed and we hear “TIMMMMMMMBERRRRRR” blast throughout the arena and out comes our resident lumberjack Jack Lumber.  Lumber stops by the Lumber Lounge to interact with his fans and then makes his way to the ring.  Tommy tried to sneak attack but Jack was waiting for him and threw him over the top rope.  Tommy complained to the ref that throwing over the top rope should be illegal and Jack should be disqualified.  The ref said no.  Finally, Tommy was back in the ring so our match could begin.  The match was pretty even for the first 9 minutes but after getting hit by ‘the Axe’, Tommy struggled with offense after that although it took Jack another 18 minutes to put Tommy away.  He nailed an atomic drop and then made the cover for the 1-2-3.  Jack Lumber gets the win.  Jack gets on the mic and he tells the Wicked Prophet that he’s coming for the World title. (27 min)

Maximillian Redbeard is backstage.  He says Superquake is at home recovering but what the Smashers did to them was inexcusable.  Redbeard says he and Ferguson want them in a tag match and tells the Smashers to grow a pair and accept.

Our next match is up.  Derek Deveraux comes out first to a nice pop from the crowd.  He high fives a few before entering the ring.  He walks to the other side and begins to pace.  The music changes and out comes the TV Champion the Banker with his manager Ruth Heartless for this non-title match.  The bell rings.

The Banker steals another win.  The fans are not happy with him.  This brings out GM Max McGillicutty.  Max says that Ruth’s involvement has been a factor against the last two opponents that the Banker faced – Texas Wildfire and Derek Deveraux.  Max says that Derek will get one more shot at the Banker – non-title match of course, and if he wins, he gets a title shot at the PPV.  Ruth screams saying it’s not in his contract and they respond by saying they will sue.  HCW says that if the Banker doesn’t meet up for his rematch against Derek, he will strip the Banker of the title and fire him for breach of contract.  Ruth and the Banker leave.  Derek is satisfied he’s getting a rematch.

Backstage, the World Tag Team Champions Apollo Gyze and Dash Woodbrick are being interviewed.  Apollo says he’s gonna hurt someone and will not apologize for doing it.  Dash says the Regulators will become ‘victims’ of the power and might from the greatest team to ever hold these titles.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito comes out accompanied by J9.  The duo are booed heavily as they make their way down to the ring.    Maxine is wearing a Cubs jersey.  She starts to build them up only to diss on them, pull off the Cubs jersey revealing a White Sox jersey and the fans went ape-shit.  She just stood there laughing.  The music changed and out comes the new Queen of HCW – Goldie Locks.  The fans pop for her majesty and she smiles and waves to the fans.  She gets into the ring only for J9 to try and jump her.  Goldie quickly dispatched her over the top rope.  She started to whine until Violet Valkyrie came out and chased her around the ring and then to the back.  Maxine is now left without her backup.  The match begins and Maxine takes control early on.  Maxine tried to roll Goldie up with a handful of tights but her Royalness managed to kick out at 2.  A few minutes later, Maxine hits the Sass Attack but Goldie dumps her out of the ring.  Maxine paced on the floor before entering the ring at the 6 count.  Maxine grabs a handful of Goldie’s hair and slams her to the mat.  Goldie reaches up grabbing Maxine’s arm and locks in the Lock Breaker.  Maxine is trapped in the middle of the ring and can’t reach the ropes no matter how much she flops around like a fish out of water.  Finally, she gives in and taps out.  Queen Goldie gets the win and the fans pop for her.  She climbs the turnbuckle and pumps both arms into the air.  Just then, Lady Hermann comes in from the crowd and attacks her Royal Highness.  Lady Hermann powerbombs Goldie to the mat not once, not twice but 3 times.  She is making a statement.  She then leaves without further incident.  (8 min for the main match; 3 for the aftermath)

Well, we were going to give an update on Violet but it seems as if she’s ok but she is going to be one spit-fire until she gets her hands on J9 for sure.  You can count on that encounter being really personal.

It’s now time for our main event.  The Regulators – Mule and Mammoth come out first to some booing from the fans.  They get in the ring but don’t have too long to wait till the all-annoying “APOLLO GYZE (and Dash) DON’T APOLOGIZE” blares out and out comes the Tag Team Champions of the World – Apollo Gyze and Dash Woodbrick.  Dash and Apollo saunter down to the ring and attack the Regulators.  Finally, the ref gets control of the match and officially starts it.  Apollo and Dash tagged in and out frequently to keep the other as fresh as possible.  At 10 minutes in, Mammoth gets dumped out of the ring.  He hits the steel steps and looks like he knocked himself out.  Mule dropped Apollo on his head with a thunderous piledriver.  Dash ran in and hurled Mule into the corner and he bumped the ref before going over the ropes.  He then looked at Apollo and couldn’t decide what to do so he rushed over and made the cover.  The ref, groggy and not seeing clearly, just saw someone making a cover so he slapped the mat 1…2…3 times.  The bell rang signaling the end of the match.  The fans were very confused and started a “what the hell…” chant.  Dash took the titles and held them over his head.  He took the mic and said that he is the combined Tag Team Champion. (13 min)

This brought out GM Max McGillicutty who asked “Just what the hell do you think you’re doing?”  Dash responded with “I thought that is how you win the match…pinning the guy who’s down”.  Max shakes his head.  “NOT YOUR OWN PARTNER THOUGH”.  Dash says he just didn’t understand the rules all that well.  Max says that there is no I in team but Dash stops him and says “If you take the top off a T, you have an I.”  Max says it doesn’t work that way.  Since Dash no longer has a tag team partner (Apollo apparently made his way to the back not sticking around), Max says he is stripping Dash of the belts and will hold a new tournament to crown new champions.  He states the finals will take place at the PPV.

Max leaves and Dash is left alone in the ring.  The ref tries to take the belts off Dash but he refuses to let go until it finally got yanked from him.  The show comes to an end with Dash looking lost.

That is all for now.  Stay tuned.  More to come.
