HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016 #479 – PPV fallout

Hello fans and welcome back to our newsletter.  Today we look at the fallout from this past weekends’ PPV Independence Day Beatdown as well as dive into some matches.

The show begins with ‘The Elitist’ Reid Rothchild in the office of our GM Max McGillicutty.  Reid says he’s the #1 contender to the TV title and that he is requesting his match tonight. TV champion Ivan Dragovich and his manager Ant Graham just happen to be walking by and stick their noses into the conversation.  Ivan says he’s not prepared as he just fought a few nights ago and embarrassed Reid (not really though).  Max reminds Ivan that the TV title is defended on TV and that at our next show, Ivan better be prepared to defend his title or there will be consequences.  Ant Graham tried to speak up but Max escorted them out of his office and closed the door on them.

We head to the ring for our first match of the night.  The King of Cones Magnum Kone comes out and calls out Billy Robinson to challenge him for his spot in the US title lineup.  Robbins makes his way down and we have ourselves a match.  Magnum started off like a firecracker smashing Billy in the ring with two Ice Cream Sandwich (splashes).  He goes for the quick pin but Billy kicks out.   Billy connects with some punches but is dropped by the Bomb Pop (clothesline).  Magnum picks up Billy and hits the Popsicle (piledriver) and makes the cover.  The ref counts 1…2…3.  Magnum Kone picks up the win and moves up in the rankings.  (4 min)

Back in Max’s office, Phat Sol meets with the GM and questions the fact that he never quit but the match was awarded to Saunders?  Had this been an MMA fight, he would have won on points.  Max acknowledges the error in judgement by the ref and asks what Phat wants to do about it.  He says he wants Saunders in another specialty match.  Max asks which one and Saunders says he wants the fans to vote on it.  Max likes the idea and says he’ll set up something for the next show.

Next up, Jesse California challenges Smasher  #2 (w/ MJ) for his spot in the World Title lineup.   Both men were aggressive in this bout and even though MJ got involved on a few occasions, it didn’t propel his guy as expected.  Jesse gave as good as he got but just as Smasher #2 and Jesse were tied up in the corner, the ref tried to break them up and MJ jumped on the apron and (accidentally) hit the ref.  The ref did see it and immediately disqualified Smasher #2.  Jesse is the winner of the match and takes off before Smasher #2 can retaliate.  Jesse moves up and Smasher #2 moves down.  (6 min)

Max states that anyone with a title can in fact issue a challenge to someone else with a title BUT they will have to forgo the belt they carry in order to actually get the match.  For example, the US champion can challenge the World champion but has to relinquish his title in order to sign the contract.  This is the way we make sure no one can hold two titles simultaneously.

We head back to the ring where Superquake Ferguson challenges the Stache for his shot at the World title.    Before the match can begin, former Desperado teammate El Chango heads down to sit at commentary.  The Stache owned this giant of a man and took him to school.  The Stache looked good in the ring and that only made El Chango that more pissed off.  Superquake went for a clothesline but Stache ducked and coming off the ropes, he hit a Rodeo Roundhouse (kick) taking the giant off his feet and crashing to the mat.  The Stache makes the cover and gets the 1-2-3 retaining his spot for the world title.  (13 min)  After the match, El Chango attacks him saying he’s not through with his “sorry ass”.  He left as The Stache struggled to get to his feet.

Ravishing Raquel w/ Master Bull is interviewed by Clarkus Kentus.  Master Bull says he will sit at ringside for Raquel’s match against the British Crippler but he is only there to scout.  He will not get involved.   Raquel says she will win the match on her own and after that, Bull will then manager her right back to the title.

Sonic Blade challenges Dr. Red Fang for his shot at the US title.  Blade looks a bit worried as the Vicious Vampire comes down to the ring escorted by his manager Ant Graham.  Sonic tells Graham to stay out of his business but Graham says he shouldn’t be worried about him but about THAT man.  Fang then attacks Sonic as the match begins.  Fang turned up the viciousness in this match and Sonic Blade was not prepared for it.  Fang went for numerous pin attempts as well as submissions but to his credit, Sonic kept surviving.  As the match progressed, Ant Graham shoved the ref but then tried to backpedal and fortunately for him, the ref didn’t’ call for the DQ.  Sonic however, showing great ring presence, locked in a reverse cradle and stole a win from the Dr.  Fang was irate; Graham was throwing a fit.  Sonic got the heck out of there and with this win, he moves to the US title hunt and Fang moves to the Hardcore title hunt.  Fang tries to complain but Ant tells him this is a much better fit for the Dr.’s talents.  Fang agrees.  (14 min)

The British Crippler appears and she says that she wants to see what Raquel has.  She says that being the champ means she is much better than the rest but she knows not to underestimate anyone…ever.

The Wraith did not make it into any of the top 10’s so he threw out a challenge to Karl Braun for his title shot.  Braun made his way out with a still irate Ant Graham at his side.  The ref who was in Fang’s match also ref’d this one so the ref immediately told Graham he wasn’t going to put up with his shit.  Graham didn’t take too well to that.   The Wraith immediately took control of the match and schooled the German native.  At the 5 minute mark, Ant Graham decided he had enough and shoved the ref resulting in a disqualification.  Graham just cost his man his title spot.  Braun, visibly pissed off, attacked the Wraith and dumped him out of the ring.  Braun stated that the ref’s all have it in for the 5th Column and demanded GM Max McGillicutty come out and do something about it.  Max comes out and says that the referee’s ruling stands.  Braun says Fine but wants a rematch to gain his spot back.  Max says he’ll set up the match but only if Ant Graham is NOT at ringside.  Braun and Graham confer and Braun reluctantly agrees to the stipulation.

King CJ appears vis the Omegatron and says that after Wrestlemania, he was not 100% and that is why no one’s seen him around.  He says he is at 54% but is improving daily.  He promises to update all his fans with his progress report.

The Steel Curtain call out the Muscles Trio for the crappy way they stole a win over them during the tag team placement tournament.  Muscles McGuire, Thorpe and Weasley come out in with their rainbow colored bull horns and mock the Steel Curtain (don’t these guy have respect for anyone?) so Starbuck Steel challenged any two of them to a rematch.  The Muscles bunch said they’d only accept the match if all three of them could be out there.  Buzz Steel agreed.

This led to our next match between Muscles Weasley and Thorpe vs the Steel Curtain.  The Muscles Trio started off with constant tags and kept the Steel Curtain on the defensive but finally Starbuck had enough and the Curtain just let them have it.  Muscles McGuire would interfere from time to time but never got caught.  Finally, the Steel Curtain were going for their new ending move “The Final Curtain” (like the Doomsday Device), McGuire snuck in and hit Buzz with a steel chair resulting in a disqualification.  The Muscles Trio kept up the attack until Biceps Bannerman ran down and cleared the ring. Biceps helped his team up but nothing was settled between these two teams and I’m sure there will be repercussions down the line.  (15 ½ min)

GM Max McGillicutty announces that at the next show, Karl Braun will get a shot at regaining his spot in the Hardcore title hunt when he takes on the Wraith but Ant Graham will not be allowed at ringside.

Our Main Event is up next with Ravishing Raquel challenging the British Crippler to a non-title match.  Master Bull accompanies here to the ring and goes to sit at commentary so he can “scout” her.  Raquel brought the game that led her to many previous championships and she dominated the current champion.
Raquel would lock in the Ravishing Chickenwing 3x during the match but the Crippler wouldn’t tap out.   We join the match at the 25 min mark.
