HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016 #500 – Reign of Champions PPV – Denver, CO

Hello fans and welcome back to our newsletter.  Tonight’s show, our PPV titled “Reign of Champions” which is also our milestone #500^th issue.  Our event is sold out here in Denver, Colorado but we are coming to you worldwide on PPV via your TV.  

Many of the wrestlers and Hollywood superstars who were at the Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday also seem to be here.  The Owners are here and they are up in their box.  Pyro goes off and our PPV is underway.

GM Max McGillicutty comes out and thanks the fans for being here live as well as tuning in all over the world.  He tells us that since newsletters were started being published to cover the HWF and CSWA, this one right here will be the 500^th issue.  The fans pop.  He promises to make this a show that the fans will not forget.  He adds that all matches tonight will get 30 minute time limits.  To get things kicked off, we go to pre-show taped comments from the competitors in our first two matches.

Dr. Red Fang, Hardcore Champion, is with his manager Ant Graham.  Fang exclaims “Vampire Lunges for everyone.”  Ant tells Fang to save it for the ring and his opponent tonight.  Graham tells the Fiend that he bit off more than he can chew and questions how he will be able to survive.

We cut over to the Fiend.  He tells us tonight is his time to shine.  He achieved some fame when teaming/feuding with the Miz but tonight, he has the opportunity to acquire a championship belt.   Win or lose, he will make sure Dr. Fang remembers this night for a long time.

The World tag team champions the Smashers are with MJ.  They once again question why they are wasting their time with a team who hasn’t teamed together once.  MJ tells them that it just means it will be a cake walk and they will be victorious.

We cut over to The Ambassador and the team of Phat Sol and ‘Red Hot’ Lucas Johnston.  The Ambassador says that the reason he put these two together is because no one knows what to expect and that will be the key to them winning here tonight.  When asked about the Fiend, the Ambassador called him a nobody and said Fang will eat him alive.

Pyro goes off again and the Fiend makes his way down to the ring.  The fans cheer him as he enters the ring.  The music changes abruptly and out comes the Hardcore Champion Dr. Red Fang and his manager Ant Graham.  Fang has been relentless since coming under the guidance from Graham.  Tonight though, Graham will not play a part in the match because of the hardcore rules tied to this championship.  The announcers tells us the rules for this match will be a ‘Tables, Ladders and Chairs’ match.  Fang immediately starts off with hitting the Fiend with multiple chair shots.  After clocking the Dr. with a ladder, the Fiend set up a table on the outside of the ring.  Fang attacked him and hit a Transylvania piledriver on the floor.  He went for the cover but ended up pulling the Fiend up.  He dragged him back in the ring but got stunned when the Fiend hit the 3 hits from Hell (rapid punches).  He hit Fang’s leg with a chair and went for the Devil Lock (figure 4) but Fang made it to the ropes.  Fang then hits a Vampire’s Lunge but the Fiend got the chair up just in time and both went down.  Fang recovered first and hit another Transylvania Piledriver.  He then set the ladder up to where it was just over the table.  He pulled the Fiend up and tried to suplex him off but the Fiend stopped it and nailed the 3 hits from Hell.  Fang fell off the ladder and crashed through the table below.  The Fiend climbed down and made the cover.  1…2…3 seconds later and we have a NEW HARDCORE CHAMPION!  The Fiend took the title and celebrated in the ring while Ant Graham helped the Dr. to the back. (12:56).

We cut to the back and challenger Dude USA Mick Rude approaches the US Champion Superstar Chic Monroe.  Rude tells Monroe he wants this to be a ‘wrestling match’ and challenges the champ to accept the stipulation.  Monroe responds with “I do this for a living.  You really want me to wrestle you for 30 minutes?  Fine.  It’s your funeral.”  This stipulation means that there will be special rules in place for when someone wants to go for a pin.

It is time for tag team action.  The Ambassador makes his way out with his protégés Phat Sol and ‘Red Hot’ Lucas Johnston.  Fans are mixed for Lucas because they like him but can’t understand why he aligned himself with the Ambassador and Phat Sol.  Music changes and manager MJ comes out first.  “Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you – YOUR World Tag Team Champions  - The Smashers!  They come out and they are wearing gear similar to what the Road Warriors did back in the day and MAN are the fans pissed about it.  They are pissed enough to maybe actually cheer for their opponents.  The Smasher walk to the ring without caring what the fans think.  The go right on the offensive and attack Phat and Lucas but the challengers fight back.  The Smashers were dominating this one like they’ve done in the past but MJ never really had to contend with another manager interfering in his team’s match.  While the Smashers were cleaning house inside the ring, MJ and the Ambassador were fighting on the outside of the ring.  At one point, the Ambassador grabbed a chair and tried to hit Smasher #2 with it but MJ grabbed the chair and the two had a tug of war over it.  The ref came over to tell the two of them to break it up and just then, the Ambassador let go and without the tension on the other side, MJ swung the chair, full force, right into the ref.  The ref immediately called for the bell disqualifying the Smashers for MJ’s interference.  The Ambassador was all proud of himself until he realized that belts do NOT change hands on a DQ.  Lucas and Phat win this one but they do not win the titles.  (11 min).  Just as the Smashers were leaving (and berating MJ for costing them a win), Lucas got on the mic and said that at a PPV, this is not how things should end.  He says that the Smashers should come back to the ring but without MJ and they will ask the Ambassador to leave and then they can finish this one.  The Smashers blow them off until Phat starts calling them ‘chicken’ and the fans join in.  They rush back to the ring and I guess this one is starting over. 

The champs once again dominated their challengers but this time, Phat and Lucas put up a much tougher fight and the Smashers had to work that much harder.  All 4 men fought in the ring multiple times but it wasn’t until the Smashers pulled Lucas out of the ring and hit a double Steel Smasher on Lucas through a table at ringside.  Lucas seems to be injured.  The Smashers played around with Phat but then realized that the time limit was almost up.  Smasher #1 went for a DDT but it got reversed into the Phat Phat (Brainbuster) and Phat almost got the 3 count but Smasher #2 made the save.  A low blow followed by a stomp on Phat had him staring up at the lights for 3 seconds.  The Smashers get the win via pin and retain their titles.  Phat recovered and helped Lucas to the back.  (18 min)

We go backstage again and we get to hear from the Russian and 5^th Column member Ivan Dragovich.  Ivan is with Ant Graham.  Graham says that Ivan is stronger than ever and will destroy ‘the Elitist’.  Ivan mutters “I will break you” and holds the TV title up and then walks off.

In the other interview area, Reid Rothchild is with his wife Ravishing Raquel and his manager Master Bull.  Bull says that Reid is ready and before the end of the night, he (Reid) will have gold and he (Bull) will finally be a manager of champions.  Reid says he’s prepared himself for the Russian (he even watched Rocky IV to psyche himself up) and tonight, he becomes a champion once again.  Raquel is standing there holding her briefcase.  She is asked if she’s cashing it in tonight.  She smiles and shrugs her shoulders.

“Born in the USA” blares over the loudspeakers and out comes Dude USA Mick Rude.  Rude gets a decent pop and shakes hands with the fans as he makes his way around the ring.  He climbs in and pulls on the ropes to do some stretching.  Music changes and out comes the US Champion Superstar Chic Monroe.  Monroe doesn’t acknowledge the fans at all.  He climbs in the ring and stares eye to eye with Mick.  The bell rings and this one is underway.  Chic hits Mick with a swiss uppercut and Mick nails an elbow smash.  Mick goes for the Dude Awakening but Chic reverses it and tries to send Mick to the outside of the ring but that too is reversed and takes Chic down with a single leg takedown.  Chic is very frustrated.  He remained that way for the entire match as Dude USA totally outwrestled the Swiss Superman.  And per his strategy, he only went for one pin attempt during the entire match.  Chic tried to battle back and after eye raking Dude, he climbed the turnbuckle.  He jumped and just then Mick hit him with a clothesline.  HOLY CRAP!  What a move!  Mick dragged Chic to the center of the ring and hooked the leg for the 1-2-3.  Mick Rude has just defeated Chic Monroe to become the NEW US CHAMPION!  Dude USA’s music plays and after posing with the title, he shook hands with the fans and left.  Chic kind of sulked out on his own.  (15 min)  The fans chanting “Dude…Dude…Dude” went on for a few minutes even after Mick left.

Backstage, El Gato Negro talks about how this is her lifelong dream and tonight, her dream is coming true.  She is 100% healthy (after she almost had a cataclysmic reaction to peanuts) and tonight is her night.

The Duchess is also backstage and says there is no way in hell she is losing the title tonight.  Come lying, cheating or stealing, she will be victorious.

It is time for the TV Championship match.  First, the Elitist Reid Rothchild and Master Bull head to the ring.  Next, champion Ivan Dragovich and his manager Ant Graham head to the ring.  The ref reminds both managers that they are barred from ringside.   Both managers provide last minute advice and then leave and go to sit in chairs at the top of the ramp (They sit on either side to avoid any altercations).  Ivan is thrown out of the ring but he is back in quick and hits a jumping side kick.  He goes for a quick pin but Reid kicks out.  Reid is up and nails a Reid Bottom.  He followed it up with the Rothchild Leg Drop.  Ivan shook off the cobwebs and hit Reid with the Accolade.  Ivan went for a swinging side slam but Reid neutralized it.  Ivan went for a diving headbutt but Reid moved.  Reid tossed Ivan out of the ring and it looked like he was going to get counted out but Reid dragged him back in before the 10 count.  Ivan rolled out again and Reid had to drag him back in but not before slamming his leg into the steel steps.  Reid then locked in the Figure Four Reid Lock and it was just too much for the champ and he tapped out.  ‘The Elitist’ Reid Rothchild has just become the NEW TV CHAMPION!   Master Bull ran down and congratulated his protégé.  Ivan remained in the ring holding his leg.  Master Bull and the new champ left and Ant Graham, who had made is way down, entered the ring.  He began to verbally attack Ivan.  Ivan decided he’d had enough and stood up towering over Ant.  He grabbed him by the throat and looked to chokeslam him but the rest of the 5^th Column (Karl Braun, Oswald Zimmerman and Baron von Blood) all ran down and attacked and beat down on Ivan.  Ant kept yelling at them to continue the attack.  Finally, Baron held Ivan up and Ant slapped him repeatedly across the face.  They dropped Ivan on the mat and Ant & the 5^th Column all left.  Ivan had to be helped to the back.  (9 min for the match; 15 for the segment)

Backstage, the Six Man tag team champs the Steel Curtain are there with their partner Biceps Bannerman.  Buzz says he could talk all day about the Muscles but he’s giving the mic to Biceps.  Bannerman says that the Muscles Trio have cost them tag and singles matches and tonight, he and the Steel Curtain will show why THEY are the champs.  Buzz picks up the trophy and Starbuck leans in and both men say “WORD”.

The Muscles Trio (Thorpe, Weasley & McGuire) say that the Steel Curtain and their roided up buddy are full of crap.  It was they who cost the Muscles championship after championship.  Tonight, they take the trophy and then no one can ever say anything bad about them again.  The three put on their rainbow colored bull horns and then skip out.

The next match on our lineup is for the Ladies title.  First, El Gato Negro comes out to a huge pop.  The time off did her good and she looks to be in great shape.  She is followed out by the Ladies Champion the Duchess.  She is booed as expected and makes a beeline for the ring.  She gets in and the two of them stare at each other until the bell rings.  El Gato went for quite a few pin attempts but the ref (nicknamed Slow Count Sam) was slow on everything…pin attempts, breaking holds when in the corner, even going for countouts.  These two definitely brought their A game and the fans applauded both.  The two kept up their fast paces for the entire match.  El Gato, seeing the time limit was getting ready to expire, tried for the Wall-O-Cato but ended up eating a superkick from the Duchess.  Duchess made a cover and the ref, slow as usual, counted 1………….2…….. and then the bell rang bringing this one to a 30 minute draw.  El Gato was disappointed and started to leave the ring.  The Duchess took her title and started to parade around with it until music changed and standing at the top of the ramp was Ravishing Raquel with the contract for her title shot.  IS SHE CASHING IT IN?  She stares at the Duchess and then turns and leaves.  The Duchess narrowly avoided another match.   WAIT…Raquel turns and rushes to the ring.  She drops the Duchess with clotheslines and then locks in the Ravishing Chickenwing.  The Duchess is tapping out but Raquel doesn’t let up.  Finally, refs come from the back to break it up.  Raquel smiles as she takes her contract and leaves.  I think she just made a point.

This time, we cut to pre-recorded messages from our 4 contenders to the World Title.  We start off with Outback Oscar.

OO:  You know, I’ve been a top contender for this belt for a long time and I haven’t received my shot so now I get to challenge 3 other men for a belt I should have had a 1:1 shot.  Nevertheless, my record speaks for itself and tonight, I will finally get Gold wrapped around my waist.  No tool (Axe), cowboy (the Stache) or someone named after a fast food restaurant will stand in my way.  Tonight, I will be victorious.

Next we cut over to the Axe.

Axe:  Once you’ve had the taste of championships, you never want to let it go.  Once I got rid of the dead weight hanging around my neck, I felt it time to assert my dominance in the sport and I did it by becoming the World Champion. The method in which I lost is questionable but nonetheless, it is time for me to get my belt back.  That happens tonight.  Oscar, Sonic and the Stache area all great competitors but none are the Axe and “WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE AXE DECAPITATES YOU?”

Our third promo comes from Sonic Blade.

SB:  Each and every one of these guys tonight are some of the hardest workers in the business.  I like to think of myself as up there with them.  I may not have been a former World Champion like the Axe or an International superstar as Outback Oscar or even ‘one Stache to rule them all’…I’m Sonic Blade and tonight, I will achieve the dream I’ve had ever since stepping into the ring…to become the World Champion.  Tonight is my night.  

Finally, the one and only Stache gets his turn.

Stache:  I’ve had to deal with Apparitions (the Wraith), with those who’s tried to steal my identity (El Chango and Leon Teremoto – the Desperados), and even a poser who thought he was royalty.   Tonight, the Stache starts the next chapter in his life and that begins with me as the World Champion.  I’ve fought my way through the muck and mire to get to where I am today and nothing will stop me from having my arm raised and introduced as the NEW World Champion.

We go back to the ring for our next match.  The steel cage is being assembled.  First, the challengers the Muscles Trio come out.  Muscles Weasley, Thorpe and McGuire all make their way to the ring.  They are wearing their rainbow colored bull horns.  The jog around the ring acting all goofy.  Music changes and out comes Biceps Bannerman and the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel).  They have a look of determination on their faces and are ready – finally – for the chance to beat the holy hell out of the Muscles Trio.  Behind them, the 6 man tag team trophy is on a rolling flatbed and it is brought down to ringside.  The Muscles Trio enter the cage first and are followed by the champs.  There is so much riding on this match – not only a trophy defense but revenge as these two teams have clashed over the past few months.  The cage is locked and the bell rings starting this one off.  GM Max McGillicutty says he wants this one to be the final match between these two teams so he gives them no time limit. 

There is so much bad blood between these two teams that it took them 31 minutes to close the chapter on this one.  Buzz started off by nailing McGuire with brass knuckles drawing blood. He went for a quick pin but McGuire kicked out.  Muscles Thorpe gets tagged in and tries to crush Buzz’s fingers against the cage but Buzz reversed it and nailed the Buzzkill.  He went for another quick pin but Thorpe kicked out.  This went on with both teams holding the advantage over each other for the rest of the match.   We join the match now at the 25 minute mark.

HOLY COW!  What a match.   The Muscles basically peel McGuire off the mat and they all head to the back.  As the cage is being raised, Buzz Steel and Biceps Bannerman help an injured Starbuck up and they celebrate with their trophy before loading it back on the flatbed and taking it to the back.  Starbuck was able to walk out under his own power.  (31 min)

GM Max McGillicutty comes out with the World title.  He says that 4 men have an opportunity to achieve greatness; one will stand out over the others.  He says that now, it is time for the main event to crown a new World Champion.  Max wants a solid winner so he gives this one no time limit. There must be a winner by pin or submission.

First, Outback Oscar makes his way down to the ring.  He is followed out by The Stache, then the Axe and finally Sonic Blade.  The four men face off in the ring and then the bell rings starting this one off.  This one was a true slobberknocker that went on for 37 minutes.  None of the competitors would give an inch and each one of them threw 150% at this match.  You could see it on each one of their faces that this is something the wanted, nay, needed.  Right off the bat, Oscar nullified the Axe.  Then the Stache and Axe collided in the ring and both fell out injured.  Oscar and Blade then went at it.  Finally, they rejoined but at that time were at a disadvantage due to the injury.  The Stache started to battle back after raking the head of Oscar (accidentally?) with his spurs.   It wasn’t until 22 minutes in that we saw our first pin attempt after Sonic hit the Stache with the Alhambra Attack but Oscar pulled him off at the 1 count.   Stache then tries to lock Oscar in the Handlebar (camel clutch) but it is nullified.  Four minutes later, Sonic catches the Axe with a sunset flip and tries for a pin only to have it broken up by the Stache at the 1 count.  We now join the match at the 30 minute mark.

Max comes back down to the ring and awards the World title to the Stache as balloons and streamers fall from the ceiling.   The new champ shakes hands with all his competitors and then celebrates in the ring and the show comes to an end.

On a side note, the HCW has been aggressive with the number of shows they’ve been running but have decided to slow down a bit (plus the talent needs a break).  For the next two weeks, there will be only one show a week (Sun)

Hello fans and welcome back to our newsletter.  Tonight, we have our HCW Hall of Fame Ceremony coming to you live from Colorado Springs, CO – the one time home of the CSWA.   Reporters Clarkus Kentus and Larry Morton are mingling with fans as well as quite a few names who have turned out for tonight’s celebration.  We are also told that the HCW Class of 2016 inductees are provided with a wrestling belt replica. (as opposed to a gaudy ring – who wants that?)

Tonight’s tag line is:  “Kings come and go but Legends are forever.”

1^st:  The Super Warrior inducted by Mohammed Hassan

Mohammed Hassan makes his way out to nice applause from the crowd.  “There are a lot of you out there who don’t know me. My impact on the world outside of the HWF and CSWA was minimal but inside, I had it all.  I was a multi-time World champion and at one point, the Triple Crown champion (holding HWF World, CSWA World and the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship) but all that came crashing down because of one man…and that is the man I’m here tonight to induct into the HCW Hall of Fame.  To most, the Super Warrior was a knockoff of the man he idolized – the Ultimate Warrior.  He claimed to live and breathe by the Warrior code and I will tell you, he was a HELL of a wrestler.  I don’t think that during my time in the HWF and CSWA that I encountered a man who would upset the apple cart quite like he did.  He challenged the status quo. Never could I expect that this man would turn out to be an icon – a role model for many – kids and adults alike.  He would say ‘Warriors Believe’ and ‘believe’ me when I say it is my HONOR to introduce to you…Hall of Famer The Super Warrior.”

“Hear me, my Warriors!  (pop from the crowd)  As you all know, Warriors are truly defined by the wars in which they FIGHT!  None of the wars in which I have fought were greater than those I fought against Mohammed Hassan.  We have been the bitterest of enemies at times in the past but one thing that cannot be denied is that he has earned my respect as a Warrior in his own right and I am honored to be inducted into the Hall OF Fame by him this evening!    

My time in the HWF and CSWA has brought me many highlights in my long career.  I’ve been a multiple-time TV champion, I’ve been a tag team champion on 2 different occasions and a World Champion defeating the man who inducts me here tonight.  I am proud to have contributed to the world of the HWF and CSWA and thank all those who made my journey that much more memorable – Chris Benoit, The Rock, Shelton Benjamin and Mohammed Hassan.

From the moment that I was unleashed upon the world of professional wrestling I have fought a war to carry on the legacy of He Who Came Before Me, the Ultimate Warrior!  The Ultimate One inspired legions of fans to take up the Warrior Way of Life!  There is a Warrior within us all and I like to think that I have done my part to awaken that Warrior spirit within many of you that are watching tonight!  It has been my extreme honor to carry on the tradition of this, started by the Ultimate Warrior himself and now I take my place among the Immortals in the Hall Of Fame with the hope that somewhere out there, there is a young Warrior who has been inspired by me, just as I was by him, with the power and the passion to take up the colors, paint up his or her face and follow the Path of the Warrior to glory just as I did!   Are you out there little Warrior?  SPEAK TO ME!”   .  Hassan shakes hands with the Super Warrior, hands him his belt and then they leave.

2^nd:  MW3 inducted by ‘The American Badass’ the Undertaker

Silence reverberates across the hall.  Suddenly, the words “I am American Bad Ass!” by Kid Rock fill the air along with the rest of the song.  The sound of a Harley Davidson fills the air and from the entrance of the Hall rides the Dead Man Himself, The Undertaker.  And he is dressed as he was in his American Bad Ass days. Jeans, t-shirt, denim vest and bandanna.  He does a couple of laps around the audience to a thunderous applause and parks his bike and walks to the stage.  He motions for silence, and speaks.

“Thank you fans, friends, management and distinguished inductees.  Tonight is a celebration of greatness, on a smaller stage though it may be, greatness nonetheless.  I can remember my first run in with MW3.  It was backstage at a house show in Colorado Springs, nearly 17 years ago.  He was fresh out of school and of a stint somewhere out east before being called by his mentor, the great Mr. Wrestling 2, to get his butt to Colorado and report to work in the HWF.  Man, was this kid green.  Walking around in the back, and yes, whether he wants to admit it or not, he marked out a little bit, seeing all of the talent he admired.

Yes, he marked out.  And there is nothing wrong with that.  You have to be a fan of the business to do this as long as we have.  You have to mark out at the talents like Flair, Rock, Austin, Hogan and Yours Truly.  In fact, I think I was the first guy he walked up to.  I remember he was nervous, and he told me, ‘Taker, it’s an honor to meet you.  I know you don’t know me at all, but I’m Mr. Wrestling 3, and one day, I’m gonna headline a PPV with you.”  Now I was at a table with Kane, Show, Hall and Malenko.  And a couple of those guys laughed at the new kid.  The only guy who didn’t laugh was Malenko, and me of course.  I just looked at him and said, “Boy, there are men here who’ve waited years to get a chance just to wait for that.  Get in line.”  I think I might have pissed him off a little and lit that fire in him.

Malenko didn’t laugh either, “You got a hell of a pair on you to say that.  I admire that kind of spirit.  If you’re serious, I’ll work with you kid.”  And Malenko did.  Day after day that kid took all that Malenko dished out and came back for more.  In that time, he worked his way up to the mid card, earing respect for his ability and professionalism in the ring.  I can remember when he was asked to put over a new kid called El Santo Jr, and not only did he, but that match was one of the best I’d seen in a long time.  And he did it with a smile, though it cost him a shot at the TV Title, and buried himself on the card for an extra 6 months.  Then, after a long wait and fight back to the mid card, and then it was time for him to move up.  And recalling what he said to me the day he arrived, I asked for this kid to be put in a promo with me.  A short one that ended up being a lot longer than either of us expected. 

As I recall….it was something about “crapping in my yard….”

We had some of the most brutal matches - Coal Miners Glove, Ladder, Scaffolding, Pier 6 Brawls - you name it.  This kid, just 3 years in the game, going toe-to-toe with me.  We beat the holy hell out of one another…until we ended our feud, and I stood victorious.  And after all that, I stood that boy up in the ring, raised his hand in respect, and left behind me a man.  I could go on and on, but I think that I’ll just introduce him and say to the kid who marked out, who told me one day we’d headline a PPV together – but who missed that not only that we’d be great rivals, but great friends -  Mr.  Wrestling 3.  MW3.

Out comes MW3 and he and Taker stand in a face off.  MW3 extends his hand, and Taker shakes it off, instead giving MW3 a brotherly hug.  Both men laugh and wave and pose for a few pics before Taker hands him his belt, points to the podium and says “Get yer ass up there boy and say something.”

Chants of MW3 fill the air and he takes it in for a few moments before motioning for silence.  “Thank you friends, family, management and fellow inductees, and most of all, you the Fans.  Thanks for coming tonight.  17 years ago, I’d never though that a kid from Chicago who traveled to Georgia to meet his favorite wrestler would be here today.  It’s been a long road.  Sometimes smooth, but most of the time, full of bumps, bruises, blood and tears.  I have just a few people to thank, so I’m going to try to be brief.

Wrestling 2.  The best.  My mentor and namesake.  You treated this kid with so much respect.  You gave me a career.  A LIFE.  Training day in and out with you and Wrestling 1.  Teaching me the business.  Getting me my first shot in Mid-South, against Moondog Spot - I lost that night, but it was hella fun.  Spot was a great guy to have a first match with.  I spent a year there jobbing and learning.  Met Harley Race, who told me that you could say anything to anyone, as long as you showed them the proper respect.  Then onto Georgia where I had a very physical match with Iron Mike Sharpe who put me over for my first professional win on TV.  He was slated to win that night you know, but Mike was a hell of a guy and I pinned him.  After a 6 weeks of GCW, 2 called me and said that I was going to Colorado Springs…there was new fed there, looking for new talent.  So I packed up and took the train to St. Louis and then the bus to Colorado Springs in the middle of a winter storm.  2 said that this was going to be the place for me.  That he had a feeling I would be a champion.  And he was right, because in 2004, I became Cruiserweight Champion, beating a very game Stevie Richards with 2’s patented knee lift.  Thanks 2.  I’d never have had this life if it weren’t for you.  He points to the audience, and an old man wearing Wrestling 2’s mask stands and bows.

Dean Malenko.  My first day in HWF, I met Malenko.  Like Taker said, he took me in and under his wing.  He showed me life in the show, and how to get by day to day.  How to nurse the nicks and dings you get.  How to stay in shape, but he also taught me how to refine my craft.  Chain wrestling.  Not only how to make yourself look good in the ring, but how to make your opponent look good too.  Those times I was wrestling so technically sharp, that was Dean.  It was only fitting that the first title I won was the Cruiserweight Title, a title Dean and others made great.  Thanks Dean, for helping me grow up in this business.  For making me a wrestlers, wrestler. 

The Undertaker.  If you’ve seen our matches, you know I owe this guy a lot.  We we’re gonna just have a short program where the kid gets a good match and gets beat.  But I wanted more time in the ring with the Dead Man.  I mean, a young guy like me in with a living legend.  So when I ahem…improvised….me ‘crapping’ in Takers yard, well, he wasn’t too happy at first, but I explained that I’d have said anything to get another match with him, regardless of how bad I’d get beat.  And it went that I got that incredible SuperKick, with props to the assist of a steel chair, that gave me a win over the Undertaker, and kicked off the yearlong feud that would define all of 2003.  Man, we really burned down the houses in those places, didn’t we, Taker?  Thank you sir.  For the matches, for the guidance and for the blood, sweat and tears.  I would have considered a career with one match with you complete, and I got a whole year of them. 

Lastly to the Fans.  To those who booed me, cheered me, and even threw a full cup of soda at me-  THANK YOU.  You were never indifferent to me.  From my first match with Spot, to my first title win to my feud with Ric Flair and Randy Orton.  My first tag team partner, The Big Show and our title reign.  And to my last title reign, as CSWA HW Champion, when I pinned Kurt Angle- a legend himself.  Thanks for the match Kurt.  As much as I may have berated you, it was all for you, the fans.  When I was Spiking my opponents into submission, or Kneelifting them into the rafters, or Superkicking them into the first row, seeing your faces and hearing the accolades or jeers, it what we live for.  It’s what I lived for.  Thanks for making it happen for a poor kid from Chi-town.”  The Undertaker hands MW3 his belt and they leave the stage to a pop from the crowd.

3^rd: ‘The Original Big Daddy’ Donnie B inducted by the Nature Boy Ric Flair

Ric Flair comes out.  “WOOOOOOOOOOOO. You know, it’s a good thing Super Warrior’s speech was short because WOOOO, MW3 can talk like no other.  WOOOO.”  He lets the fans and patrons finish their own wooing and then he starts up.  “Tonight is not about the Nature Boy but is about a man who for all intent and purposes, created a wrestling brand unlike the mainstream has ever seen.  He took what was a random collection of wrestlers and promoted a brand that evolved first into the HWF and CSWA and now, into the HCW.  Many of you are wondering ‘Why is the Nature Boy inducting this guy?’  Let me tell you a story.  It was back in the old territory days and the Horsemen were stylin’ and profilin’ all over the south.  We stopped in Houston for a show.  Now this must have been the late 80’s or something.  We were in a cage match taking on the likes of Dusty, Lex and others in a steel cage.  Barry, Arn and Tully were already in the ring.  As my music hit, I made my way to ringside.  This ‘kid’ ran up and started talking crap to ME, the Nature Boy.  Well, that of course didn’t sit well with me (at the time I was such a heel) so I basically told him to shut his mouth and then added some choice expletives.  Needless to say, this kid had no response other than ‘Same to you’.  (True Story)  This kid would turn out to be ‘The Original Big Daddy’ Donnie B.  I like to think that it was ME who drove the passion into creating a medium that would span decades.  It is my honor to introduce to you the Original Big Daddy Donnie B!”  Music hits and out comes Donnie B.  He shakes hands with Ric and whispers something that Flair laughs at. Ric hands Donnie B his title and then goes to leave the stage.  Donnie B makes his way to the podium.

“25 some odd years ago, I discovered a tool called ‘Pro Wrestling Superstars – a Promoter’s Dream’.  This tool allowed me to use wrestlers from all over the world and put on matches no one would ever have thought of.  This tool evolved into the HWF (Humble Wrestling Federation) and that was the federation I owned and ran matches in and around Humble, Texas (cheap pop).  Eventually, a move would take me to Colorado Springs, CO (huge pop from the crowd). I met up with people with similar interests and with the help of part owner Jeff Meyers, the CSWA came to life.  Years later I found an updated tool that would take Pro Wrestling Superstars to the next level.  I discovered ‘PWS’ and all I can say is that it made my life sooo much easier (Thanks Jowsterguy).  I faced many of the same legends who are here tonight from the Super Warrior, MW3, Mohammad Hassan, Classy Travis Wassie, and numerous others in the last 15 years.  There were tons of great feuds that took place but the one that comes to mind happens to be the long-standing feud I had with another person being honored tonight – the Negronomicon. (The crowd boos.  Donnie B smiles.) The two of us had feuds over padding around the ring (which he sued me for), for ‘holding the black man down’, and even up to his crashing of my wedding.   It even got ridiculous enough that we had a ‘bling vs bling’ match if you can believe that.  He had to be the greatest nemesis I had ever faced. 

My first title was the Light Heavyweight title that I defeated Ultimo Dragon for (points to him in the audience).  I’ve been a North American Champion, Cruiserweight champ, Tag team champ with my nemesis, and World Champion defeating ‘Captain Charisma’ Christian (points to him in the audience). 

The highlight of my career happened to coincide with our low point when The HWF and CSWA closed its doors at the end of 2010 due to creative no longer working (aka burned out).  The highlight in my career was that final show when I defeated the Undertaker to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion.  During that time off, I had time to reflect and tour the world getting the opportunity to see the great talent out there.  In 2013, creative had kicked back in (I found my smile) and the HWF and CSWA were relaunched with new talent discovered such as the Axe, ‘The Elitist’ Reid Rothchild, Master Bull and more.  Enhancements made to the PWS tool took the stress of figuring out matches completely out and allowed creative to once again ‘run wild’. 

This year 2016, as you may have read in earlier newsletters, the HWF and CSWA ran into a few legal snafus which forced those chapters to be closed for good.  From those ashes rose the HCW.  The HCW, run by GM extraordinaire Max McGillicutty, has taken off and we haven’t looked back since.  Wrestlers will come and go and the evolution of the sport will continue and with such great talent we have on our roster like the Stache, the Desperados, a fantastic Ladies division and…hell, I’ll give him his due…King CJ.  These wrestlers are a fantastic breed and I can only hope to see great things from the HCW.  Special thanks go out to owner in crime Jeff Meyers, Tony Graham, Wayne Tuttle and to all the performers who have made our federation the place where everyone wants to be and lastly, to our readers…thank you.  This ride could not have happened without you.”   Donnie B takes his title, once again shakes hands with Ric and then they leave the stage.

4^th:  In Memoriam:  the Negronomicon inducted by Ron Simmons

Ron Simmons makes his way to the podium.  He stares around before exclaiming “DAMN!”  He pauses briefly before continuing.  “There are a HELL of a lot of you out there.  Listen, I’ve been around this sport a long time and I’ve never encountered a guy like the Negronomicon.  I thought I blazed the way being the first African-American World Champ but this guy made me look like a chump.  The Negronomicon was a true trailblazer (not to be confused with the Blue Blazer).  He made it so that no one would ever have to be held back again based on Race, Creed or Intelligence.  A quick story you may not know.  Before he got started in the world of professional wrestling, he was watching wrestling on TV with his woman.  As the show dragged on, she turned to him and asked if he knew of the ‘Necronomicon’ (aka the Book of the Dead from ‘Army of Darkness’).  She said that if he were to ever become a wrestler, he would be the Negronomicon.  And that is when he was born. 

Up until the end, he was so invested in the wrestling world that he wanted to grow the sport above and beyond the confines of the HWF and CSWA so he charted a plane (cargo because he was so cheap) and it disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle.   We will never know what this man could accomplish had he survived but since he is no longer here, I am proud to accept this title on his behalf.” 

There is a commotion and over the loudspeaker blares “From the desk of N” and then in walks…the Negronomicon!!!  WHAT THE HELL!!!!

Negronomicon walks over to the podium and looks over the sea of fans and wrestlers alike.  “IT HAS BEEN TOO MANY YEARS…(Negronomicon has to yell over the booing from the fans.  Finally they settle down so he can continue)…far too many years since I have graced this stage.  To my complete surprise, since my absence I was fully expected that this company would have folded by know.  Yet here it is.  I see a lot of new faces; faces I have no knowledge of and since they have not defeated me in the ring, I really won't give them much play.  It's not that I don't think you could compete.  Cause you couldn't.  But it's more of the distaste I have for the new catchphrase seeking, no basics of wrestling knowing wannabees, and above all white performers (not wrestlers) that are crawling about here. 

I bet you were thinking “I thought this guy was dead and gone” but you know what, for a moment I was.  The plane I was on did in fact disappear into the Bermuda Triangle.   I was the only survivor.  I thought I was going to go insane (he holds up ‘Spaulding’ the basketball with a face drawn on it).  Little did I know that just two short days later, I would hear a commotion and would go to check it out.  As the true detective I am (the hell with the Bat), I scoped it out and found a group of people on the other side.  I came to find out that this was the cast of SURVIVOR.  That’s right…a stupid reality show allowed the Negronomicon to rejoin the land of the living.  I’ve been laying low among the ignorant masses who were none the wiser.  Finally, when I heard this sham was going on, I decided it was time for me to remind you morons who I am.   (Negronomicon kicks Spaulding into the audience)

I would like to thank Ron Simmons for the kinds words...he is a man's man.  He knows what wresting is.  And so I thank him.  I want to thank Donnie B.  I haven't seen him yet.  Not surprised.  But still I would like to thank him.  Is he still wrestling?  Does he know the difference between and wrist-lock and a wristwatch yet?  Don't matter.  No one cares.

Lastly…the fans.  Do you know what actual wrestling is?  Probably not.  More interested in the pyro and shouting out the typewritten applause lines.  Probably don't even remember that I am responsible for the padding on the floors that have extended some of ya'lls sad ass careers.

You know what?  Thanks for this little honor.  Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.  N Out” (drops the mic)

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016 #498 - Lead up to the PPV

Hello fans and welcome back to our newsletter.  This will be the final show before our PPV next Sunday.  In between then, we will have the first ever HCW Hall of Fame celebration that will be broadcast live from Colorado Springs, CO – the former home of the CSWA.  The show kicks off with some pyro and GM Max McGillicutty comes out on stage.  Max says Sonic Blade, the Stache, the Axe and Outback Oscar will have a fatal four way at the PPV to determine the next World Champion.  Max says this belt will not be achieved on a cheap win but on who kicks ass the best. 

The show kicks off with our first match.  Angry Jack Lawson comes out and says he’s (wait for it) Angry because he is not on the PPV and wants a match right now.  Ant Graham comes out and says he’d be happy to oblige.  Ant brings out Baron von Blood.  The Baron seemed a little angry too and he took it out on Jack.  Ant got involved (the ref seemed to turn a blind eye) and only helped the Baron strategically (for him though, strategy includes eye rakes, tripping among other infractions) inserting himself when he thought he was needed (actually was 4x in this match).  The Baron nailed a Blitzkrieg Stunner and this one was over.  Ant Graham pushes the ref away and raises the arm of the Baron.  (7 min)

We cut to the back where the Gold Standard Bruce Biltmore is challenging Dude USA for his title match against Chic Monroe.  Bruce doesn’t think Mick Rude has what it takes to become a champion.  Rude says he’s ready and willing to prove it in the ring.  Max walks over and says that Biltmore can only win the spot by pin or submission.

We move on to our next match which will have two of our Ladies superstars squaring off.  Sarona Reiher comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Her opponent, Jazz Emmett comes out and is met with the same reaction.  Jazz dominated the match and made Sarona look like a rookie.  She kept the offense up for 9 straight minutes.  The end came after Jazz hit the Bank Statement and made the merciful cover for the 1-2-3.  (9 min)

Magnum Kone, the King of Cones, is backstage talking to Max.  He says he’s glad everything worked out for everyone and asks to have a match tonight.  Max picks up a dart and throws it at a wall covered in superstar’s photos.  Sure enough, it lands on Rad Gumbo.  Max says he can have his rematch against Gumbo and says that he wants to liven it up.  He tells Magnum that it will be a street fight rules match.  He tells Magnum to go get ready and he’ll break the news to Gumbo.

We go back to the ring for tag team action.  First, Niven and Leiton Snake make their way out to the ring.  Next, their opponents the Desperados make their way out.  The four of them start slugging it out before the bell even rang.  Finally the ref regains control and we are underway.  The Snake Brothers started off with double teaming on El Chango but it didn’t last long.  Leon gets tagged in and cinches in what appears to be the most horrific headlock ever seen.  Niven hits him with a tilt-a-whirl slam and Leon tags out to El Chango but not before dropping Niven with a superkick.  El Chango climbs the top rope and nails a shooting star press.  He makes the cover and gets the 3 count before Leiton even realized what was happening.  The Desperados get a win and chase off the Snake Brothers.  El Chango gets on the mic and says they want whoever walks out of the PPV with the tag titles.  (5 min)

Max meets up with Rad Gumbo and breaks the news to him.  Rad is not happy about it but is even less when Max tells him MJ is not allowed at ringside.  Max walks off as Rad starts kicking things.

We go back to the ring for our PPV match challenge.  The Gold Standard Bruce Biltmore comes out first and he is booed.  Dude USA Mick Rude comes out with “Real American” (Hogan’s and before that, Windham & Rotundo’s) old theme.  We’re not sure he has permission to use it but we’ll see what happens.  Dude was practically destroying Biltmore.  It was almost embarrassing.  Rude just toyed with him and took his time in trying to go for a pin or anything.  Biltmore started to battle back and he threw Mick out of the ring.  Knowing that Bruce can only win the spot by pin or submission, he started to walk away.  He ended up getting counted out.  Bruce gets a win but he does not get to go to the PPV.  (19 ½ min)

There seems to be a backstage altercation between Tag Team champs the Smashers and 5^th Column members Karl Braun & Oswald Zimmerman.  Braun says that he knows the champs are defending the belts in a week but they feel they deserve the shot and challenge the Smashers here tonight.  MJ accepts on behalf of his team.

We go back to the ring for our next match.  Rad Gumbo makes his way out as “Gumbo 7:30 says its suppa time bitch” blares over the loudspeakers.  Magnum Kone comes out with Haagen and Daas who rush down to the ring to hand out ice cream.  Magnum is wearing his shirt that reads “8:13 means it’s time for dessert”.  Rad is still pissed off for what he claims is Magnum stealing his catchphrase (hang on, didn’t he steal it from someone else?)  These two went at it just like in their other battles.  Rad took control early on but after being hit with the Ice Cream Sandwich (splash), Magnum took over and OWNED him.  Magnum just beat the hell out of Rad and try as he might, he could not stop the King of Cones…that is until MJ came out.  Yes, the guy who was banned from ringside snuck down to the ring.  Rad was on the receiving end of being choked with a microphone cord until he was suplexed out of the ring.  MJ got the ref’s attention and after being reprimanded, Rad used that time to hit Kone with a low blow and then blasted him in the head with the time keepers bell drawing blood.  He then climbed the top rope and jumped driving the bell into Kone’s throat.  He discarded the bell and made the cover.  The ref counted 1…2…3.  Rad Gumbo stole a win and he quickly left with MJ to celebrate his second win over the King of Cones.  Magnum had to be helped from the ring.  (24 min)  

Max comes out and says that tonight’s main event will be a Fatal 4 Way to see who gets to take Ivan on for the TV title.  Max says the participants include The Shockmaster, Jerry Saunders, former champion the Crocodile Hunter and ‘the Elitist’ Reid Rothchild.

The Smashers vs Karl Braun & Oswald Zimmerman.  The 5^th Column come out first with Ant Graham and they are pacing like caged animals.  The Smashers come out next with MJ.  I don’t think they’re too happy with MJ for agreeing to this match.  The champs seemed to hold their own especially after MJ took care of Ant Graham.  After what seemed to be a pretty even match through 17 minutes changed after the champs double teamed Oswald for 2 rounds.  Just as Oswald was going for a move, MJ grabbed his hair and yanked him down hard.  Smasher #2 made the cover and with his foot on the ropes and a handful of tights, he got the pin.  The Champs looked good in this match as they head into the PPV.  (20 min)

A video airs of Ivan regaining the TV title after defeating the Crocodile Hunter.  Ivan had some choice words for Reid.

It is time for our Main Event:  A Fatal 4 Way for the TV title:  Reid vs Shockmaster vs Jerry Saunders vs the Crocodile Hunter.  This was a free for all with everyone trying to take each other out.  The Shockmaster disposed of the Crocodile Hunter as Reid took out Jerry Saunders.  The final few minutes were just these two guys beating the crap out of each other.  Saunders kept Croc on the outside and didn’t let him back into the ring.  Reid dropkicks the knee of the Shockmaster and then locks in the Figure Four Reid Lock in the middle of the ring.  Shockmaster did something ‘shocking’…he tapped out.  Reid Rothchild wins this one and will go on to the PPV to meet Ivan Dragovich for the TV title.  His celebration is cut off when Ivan runs down and drops him with the Accolade.  Ivan stands over Reid holding the TV title as the show comes to an end.

Hang on…there appears to be one more segment.  We head bat to Max’s office and he is there with the owners and it seems like they are on a phone call.   Hang on…we recognize that voice.  The Owners are talking to the WWE’s Vince McMahon.  Vince asks if they are ready to come back to the bargaining table but Mr. Bychowski says “not at this time but I have a request.  I would like to get back the use of the names of my old federations the HWF and CSWA.  My intention is not to resurrect them but have the rights so they can be acknowledged during the HOF speech without causing any more friction.”  Mr. Meyers adds that he knows deep down it wasn’t Vince who buried the HWF and CSWA, but says that doing this, it would play an important part WHEN they want to come back to that bargaining table.  Vince says he will have his lawyers write up legal documentation stating he is giving Mr B and Mr M the rights to the names HWF and CSWA back to them but only for the purposes in “discussing the past” and that the two federations cannot be “resurrected”.  The call ended with Vince adding “Hope to see you gentlemen again soon.”

As a reminder, there is no wrestling card on Wed.  The Hall of Fame ceremony will be Friday and the PPV on Sunday.  Stay tuned.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016 #497

Hello fans and welcome back to our newsletter.  Today’s show kicks off backstage in GM Max McGillicutty’s office.  There is a knock on the door and in walks the World Champion, King CJ.  Max comments that it’s about time the World Champion showed up.  King CJ says he’s been in the hospital and is not well.   Max says it’s just another of CJ’s copouts.  CJ says not this time and he is ill.  Max says regardless, he needs to appear more leading up to our PPV.  CJ says he cannot.  Max says if he does not, he will strip CJ of the belt.  CJ one-ups the GM by surrendering the World title.  “When I am healthy, I WILL come back for my belt.  Remember this moment as I did not LOSE the title.”  CJ surrenders the title and walks out as Max stands there in shock but then says that he will pick 4 men to participate in a Fatal Four Way at the PPV with the winner becoming the new World Champion.

As it turns out too, HCW was booked for TWO shows on the same day.  Max had to quickly put together a lineup for the second show.

The first match is our first qualifying match for the Fatal 4 way at the PPV.  First, Jerry Saunders makes his way down to the ring.  His opponent is Sonic Blade.  Sonic has been on a roll and hopes to make it to the PPV.   Saunders cheated to get a leg up on Blade but Sonic battled back and eventually took Jerry to school.   Jerry had started to get desperate but each time he tried for a high impact move, Blade nullified it.  Jerry finally went for an abdominal stretch but Sonic turned it into a reverse cradle and the ref counted to 3 giving the win and advancing to the PPV to Sonic Blade.  Blade celebrated briefly before leaving.  Saunders left the ring disappointed.  (14 min)

TV Champion Ivan Dragovich and his manager Ant Graham storm into Max’s office.  Ivan says that a PPV is not the same as TV and says he shouldn’t be required to defend his belt.  Max gives him a final ultimatum – he wrestles and defends the title or he is fired.  Max says that Ivan WILL wrestle at the PPV.  Ivan asks who his opponent will be.  Max says at the next show, there will be a fatal four way with the winner getting a shot at his title.  This time however, Ant Graham will be BARRED from ringside.  Graham tried to show the stipulation in his contract where he HAD to be at Ivan’s side but this time Max was prepared and showed Graham the contract HE signed giving Max the authority to remove Ant at any time.  Graham and Ivan stormed out of the office.

We head back to the ring for our next PPV qualifying match.  First, Outback Oscar makes his way out to a huge pop from the crowd.  Next, his opponent Desperado member El Chango comes out and he is not well liked here.  El Chango appears to be a bit frustrated so he starts to take it out on Oscar.  Both men looked strong but it wasn’t until El Chango tried for a Phoenix Splash and Oscar got his knees up and El Chango crashed hard.  Oscar then locked in the Outback stretch and El Chango immediately tapped out.  Oscar gets the win and moves on.  Medics came out to check on El Chango and he aggressively pushed them away.  (8 min)

The Fiend makes his way down to the ring and calls out the Ambassador and says he wants a shot at Phat Sol but with a stipulation.  He says that if he wins, the Ambassador must let him out of his contract.   If he loses, he remains under the thumb of the Ambassador AND will give Phat his title shot against Dr. Red Fang for the Hardcore title.  The Ambassador calls Phat down to see what he thinks and he agrees.  The Ambassador says that match happens now.

For 10 minutes, the Fiend beat the holy hell out of Phat Sol and the Ambassador was beside himself.  It wasn’t until Phat hit a vertical suplex on the Fiend that things changed.  The Ambassador almost got Phat disqualified twice after wanting to interfere.  The Ambassador slipped Phat a foreign object but before he could use it, the Fiend hit the 3 Hits from Hell and went for the cover but Phat kicked out.  He then used the foreign object on the Fiend and once again, Phat had control.  Phat used the foreign object 3 times before discarding it.  He went for a pin but the Fiend kicked out.  The Ambassador hit the Fiend with his cane.  Phat went for a pin but the Fiend kicked out again.  The Ambassador jumped up on the apron but the Fiend reversed an irish whip and threw Phat crashing into the Ambassador.  He then hit the ropes and nailed a vicious clothesline.  The Fiend makes the cover and gets the 1-2-3.  The Fiend is victorious and is no longer under the thumb of the Ambassador AND he gets to keep his title shot.  (19 min)

The Wraith is backstage and says that things are not done between him and the Stache.  The Wraith demands that Max make a match between them and the winner moves forward to the World title hunt.  Max thinks it will be good for business so he makes the match.

We head back to the ring for a battle royal to determine who will get to meet Chic Monroe for the US title at the PPV.  The 7 competitors are Dude USA Mick Rude, El Chango (still smarting from his earlier loss), Starbuck Steel, Jesse California, Perfect Pecs Stoddard, Superquake Ferguson & Billy Robbins.   In order of elimination:  Stoddard, Superquake, Starbuck, Robbins, El Chango leaving Jesse California to take on fellow Californian Dude USA Mick Rude.  Rude held his own and after a powerslam took the wind out of Jesse’s sails, he “sailed” right over the top rope.  Mick Rude gets the win and will take on Superstar Chic Monroe for the US title.  (14 min)

Backstage, the Hollywood Star says he’s heard that the Axe is back in the title hunt and it’s not fair that someone who lost is still considered a contender.  The Star says he challenges the Axe for his spot and when he wins, he will move on for World title consideration.

We go back to the ring for our next match which has the Wraith taking on the Stache.  Both men try to go after each other but Max comes out before they come to blows.  Max says he wants a winner here and wants to see one of these two move on.  No more excuses…put up or shut up.  He says the match will be a sudden death first fall claims it match.  The Stache begins choking the Wraith out with a broom handle.  He tries for a pin but Wraith kicks right out.  He then pulled the Wraith outside and whipped him into the ringpost and the Wraith hit the post with his back hard.  The Stache pulls him back in and locks in the Handlebar (camel clutch).  The Wraith screamed in pain but wouldn’t quit.  The Wraith, finally exhausted, passed out.  The ref raised the arm once, twice and 3 times it fell.  The Stache wins this one in FAST fashion and goes on for a shot at the World title.  (2 min)  The Wraith had to be helped from the ring.

Backstage, Ravishing Raquel says that with no more Master Bull, it is up to her to win this final fight between her and Lady Hermann.  Raquel states she’s won multiple titles and battles on her own and tonight is no different.  She says she will get Hermann to tap out.

Our final qualifying match is the Hollywood Star taking on the Axe.  Max announced that this match would have a 30 minute time limit. Not sure what the Star was trying to accomplish here as he struggled at first and it took a while for him to find his groove.  Unfortunately for him, it didn’t come until much later in the match and by that time, Axe found his second wind and nullified any offense he could muster.  Axe hit the Star with the Axe but surprisingly, the Star kicked out.  Axe couldn’t believe it.  Star hit a chop block on Axe’s knee taking him down.  He then climbed the top rope and went for a splash but Axe got his knees up in time.  Star rolled on the ground clutching his stomach.  Axe crawled over and hooked the leg.  The ref counted 1-2-3.  The Axe gets the win and secures the final spot in the hunt for the World title.  He favors the knee a bit but seems to be ok.  (23 min)

Lady Hermann says that tonight Ravishing Raquel is put out to pasture and the NEW Ladies division finally gets rid of the “divas” and will show that only the best will survive.

Max comes out one more time and says that our main event is comprised by two of the top ladies in the HCW.  Max says that both women are top contenders in their own right but he knows that this, potentially the end of a feud, should have the “carrot” dangling at the end of the match.  Max says that whomever wins this match will get a title shot at the Ladies title at a date to be determined in the future. 

Ravishing Raquel makes her way to the ring to a decent pop from the crowd.  Next, Lady Hermann comes out and she is booed pretty heavily.  Lady Hermann started off strong for 2 minutes but then Raquel proved why she is a multi-time champion.  After Raquel caught Lady Hermann with a moonsault from the top rope, her ladyship never really recovered.  The rest of the match was all Raquel.  She locked in the Ravishing Armbar only to have Hermann make it to the ropes.  She then hit the Simply Ravishing but Hermann rolled out of the ring to avoid a pin.   Lady Hermann tried for the Figure Eight leg lock but Raquel neutralized it.  She then tried for a sitout wheelbarrow facebuster but Raquel once again neutralized it.   After laying some knife edge chops on Raquel, the Ravishing One dropped Hermann with an ankle lock but instead of going for the submission, she hooked the leg and got a pin out of it.  Ravishing Raquel has won this war and stands victorious.  Lady Hermann left the ring while Raquel celebrated with the fans as the show came to an end.

1)   Leon Teremoto vs Terra Ryzing:  Leon submitted after Terra locked in the Indian Deathlock (8 min)

2)   Starbuck Steel vs Muscles Thorpe:  Went to a 20 minute draw.  Both men fought to the back.

3)      Buzz Steel vs Muscles Weasley:  Buzz gets the win after hitting the Buzzkill (10 min)

4)      Biceps Bannerman vs Muscles McGuire:  Went to a 20 minute draw.  After the match, Weasley and Thorpe rand back down and tried to triple team Biceps but the Steel Curtain came back out for the save.

5)      Baron von Blood vs Wendell Hammerschmidt:  Baron got the win via countout after Ant attacked Wendell on the outside of the ring and Wendell was not able to make it back in.  (8 min)

6)      Karl Braun & Oswald Zimmerman vs Butch Huber & Wilber Townsend:  The 5^th Column got the win after Karl had choked Wilber in the corner and then pinned him.  (11 min)

7)      Main Event:  Falls count anywhere:  Rad Gumbo vs Magnum Kone.  ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo came out with his manager MJ and was touting his phrase “Gumbo 7:30 means is suppa time bitch”.    Magnum came out second and stopped with a mic and corrected Rad.  “Actually, its 8:13 and time for dessert.”  The fans popped for that.   Gumbo didn’t care for it and attacked Magnum going after his legs and back.  Magnum fought him tooth and nail and really held his own.  MJ tried to interfere and got sent to the back.  These guys for all over the place for over 30 minutes.  Magnum thought he had it won after powerbombing Rad through a table but much to his credit, the Ragin Cajun kicked out.  Magnum would hit the Popsicle and go for the pin but Rad kept kicking out.  Rad concentrated on the back of Magnum by locking in the New Orleans Crab but Kone would power out of it.  Finally, Magnum hit the popsicle again but took too long to make the cover and Rad kicked out.  Rad then locked Magnum in the New Orleans crab and eventually Magnum made it to the ropes to break the hold.   Rad pulled Magnum back in and locked in the crab a second time.  This time, Magnum was not able to get to the ropes and had no choice but to tap out.  A very hard fought victory by Rad Gumbo.  He tried to continue to inflict more damage on Kone but the ref sent Rad away after MJ joined him at ringside again.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016 #496

Hello fans and welcome back to our show.  Tonight’s event begins in Max’s office.  Sitting there with him are ‘the King of Cones’ Magnum Kone and ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo.  Max tells them not to speak but instead recaps the fight that took place (it was all recorded on cell phones).  Additional Cell phone video continues with Rad Gumbo and Magnum Kone being escorted out by police from Fry’s Electronics.  At least half a dozen times, Magnum was stopped by other officers asking to take a picture with him.  Just before he got taken away, Haagen and Daas show up (next door to the Fry’s is a Haagen Daas ice cream store and they were doing a public relations event) and give ice cream to all the officers, employees and management at Frys’s.  The video ends and Max just glares at them.  Max goes on to say that the lawyers from Fry’s Electronics have sent Max a bill for $50K in damages.  Max says he’ll take it out of their paychecks.  Rad tries to speak up but Max warns him if he does, he will be fired.  A knock on the door is followed by two men in suits who ask to speak to Max.  Max tells Rad and Magnum to leave and go home.  If they have any interaction before he ok’s it, they are both out of a job.   The men in suits let Rad and Magnum leave and close the door behind them.

The first match on the show begins with Perfect Pecs Stoddard making his way to the ring.  He is then followed out by ‘Red Hot’ Lucas Johnston and his manager the Ambassador.   Lucas was not doing well for the first 8 minutes as Pecs just manhandled him.  Finally, the Ambassador takes Lucas out of the ring and tells him to stop being such a nice guy and FIGHT.  Lucas gets back in the ring and does a complete 180 with his attitude.  He no longer sought approval from the fans.  He turned it up a notch that we haven’t seen from him yet.  The fans didn’t care for his new found attitude and voiced their opinions whereas the Ambassador praised him.  The Ambassador strategically “interfered” and that helped Lucas all the more.  Pecs got lucky and hit Lucas with the White Noise piledriver and the Ambassador jumped on the ring for the distraction.  Lucas called for the ref holding his neck and when the ref went to check on him, the Ambassador used that distraction to eye gouge Pecs with some peanut shells.  Blinded, Pecs stumbled back into the ring and Lucas, playing decoy, rolled Pecs up for the 1-2-3.  “Red Hot” gets the win here.  Pecs leaves the ring and Phat Sol comes down.  He and Lucas celebrate in the ring.  The Ambassador says that these two are now a tag team and are throwing out a challenge to the Tag Team Champions for a title match at the PPV.  MJ comes out laughing and says “Sure, we’ll accept.”  MJ walks away laughing as the Smashers, hiding in the audience, hit the ring and attack Phat and Lucas.  They beat them down and then stand over them laughing and then the finally leave.  (16 min for the match; 23 for the segment)

The Steel Curtain are backstage in GM Max McGillicutty’s office.  Buzz voices his concern about the third man constantly interfering in their match costing them.  Max asks what they think he should do.  Starbuck says that they want the third man to be handcuffed to Biceps Bannerman, sitting at ringside.  Max thinks it’s a great idea and says he will make it happen.  The Steel Curtain leave the office. 

We head back to the ring for our next match:  Dude USA Mick Rude taking on Jesse California.  Both men shook hands before the match and it looks like we have ourselves a solid match.  The match was pretty even with no rule breaking going on.  At the 9 minute mark, Jesse connected with some jumping elbow drops.  He picked up Mick Rude and threw him to the ropes.  Mick ducked, hit the ropes again and then shoulder blocked him out of the ring.  Jesse landed hard and then hit the ringside barrier.  The ref counted and reached 10 counting Jesse out.  Dude USA gets the win via countout.  He goes out to help Jesse up and tempers flared briefly before Jesse settled down and shook hands with Mick and the two made their way back.  (9 ½ min)

Backstage, The Savior cuts a promo saying tonight is about redemption.  He promises Drew will be the one to scream “I Quit” and then he will become his minion – just like the millions and millions of sheep that are out there.

Max finished his meeting with the suits and we’ve determined they are lawyers from Fry’s Electronics.  The lawyers walk out thanking him and shake Max’s hand.  Reporter Clarkus Kentus sees them leaving and asks what transpired.  Max says that the lawyers from Fry’s said they got gained so much business because of the “advertising” that the debt was forgiven.  Turns out all the shops including the Haagen Daas store all benefited and everyone was happy.  As part of the settlement, Fry’s said they wanted both Magnum Kone and Rad Gumbo to sign certain items used in their brawl that would be auctioned off.  Rad and Magnum would not get any of the money but that’s just how those things go.

We go back to the ring four our next match.  First, Missy Chick and Kimberly Kiccass come out for this tag team match.  They are then followed out by two members of the Queen’s Court – Lady Hermann and Queen Beckett.  The Queen’s Court has not had the best luck as of late so they are hoping to turn that round tonight.  Right off the bat, Queen Beckett locks Kimberly in the Surrender but Missy makes the save.  Lady Hermann is tagged in and she immediately dispatches Missy Chick by kicking her off the ring and she landed in some chairs at ringside.  Lady Hermann then beat down on Kimberly but soon, her ladyship was getting her ass kicked.  After being pummeled for a few minutes, Lady Hermann tagged back out to the Queen who hits Kimberly with a fallaway slam.  Missy, recovered by now, pulls Lady Hermann off the ring and she hits her face on the mat.  Queen Beckett screams in frustration but then Kimberly locks in a dragon sleeper.  With no one to save her, Beckett has no choice but to tap out.  Kimberly lets up and Missy joins her in the ring as the ref raises their arms as the winners of the match.  Lady Hermann and Queen Beckett sulk to the back.  (7 ½ min).

We cut to the back again and this time we are with Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  Drew says that the Savior is mistaken and tonight, HE will be the one tapping out and Drew finally getting rid of this baggage.  Tonight will be a turning point for Drew, he guarantees it.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, the Muscles Trio make their way out and McGuire is complaining about having to be handcuffed.  Thorpe tells him they have it figured out.  Next, the Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman make their way out.  The ref immediately pulls Biceps aside and has him sit at ringside.  The ref places one of the handcuffs on Biceps wrist.  The ref calls for McGuire to sit next to him and he is handcuffed.  Biceps stands up when McGuire tries to pull away and then he sits back down.  The Muscles team began by targeting Starbuck and beating him senseless.  He never got a chance to tag out and the Muscles team made sure he stayed put.  McGuire had pulled out some brass knuckles and then blasted Biceps with it over and over.  He then grabbed a hacksaw from under the ring and cut off the cuff.  After being beat down for over 15 minutes, Starbuck makes the hot tag to Buzz who went to town.  McGuire snuck around and pulled Starbuck from the ring and beat him down leaving Buzz to fend for himself.  He did ok though and really owned the ring.  The bell then rang bringing this one to a 20 minute time limit draw.  The Muscles Trio hit the ring and all went after Buzz.  Biceps had recovered by now and joined Buzz in the ring and started to dismantle the trio.  Starbuck eventually joined them and the trio ran off like scalded dogs.  Starbuck, really fed up with the Muscles interference, screamed for Max to do something about this.  Buzz and Biceps helped Starbuck from the ring and they went to the back.  (20 min draw)

Taylor Bella walks in to Max’s office and says that she hoped Max brought in the Duchess for her match tonight.  Max says he did but tells her that by forcing this match now, it is her one and only shot at the title.  If she doesn’t win, she probably will not see a title match anytime in the future.  She says it’s ok as she’s going to win tonight regardless.

It’s time for our grudge match of the night.  Drew the CLM vs the Savior in an I Quit Match.  The Savior makes his way out first and is booed pretty heavily.  Drew then comes out and receives the opposite reaction.  Max comes out and says that these two will have all the time they need to get this one done AND it can only end when one yells “I Quit”.  Max leaves and the match is immediately started.  As expected, this was nothing short of a slobberknocker.  These two beat the holy hell out of each other.  Drew had the lead for quite a while until the Savior began using all sorts of weapons to get Drew to call it quits.  The Savior then took the lead trapping Drew multiple times but he just would not give up.  Drew locked in a Brutal Backbreaker but the Savior made it to the ropes.  This was at the 11 minute mark.  They did not actually try to get the other to quit for over 40 minutes.  Both men were running out of steam and the Savior had exited the ring.  He found some tape and taped his thumb.  He crawled back into the ring only to get dropped by the La Casita.  Drew was getting ready to do something but the Savior instead jambs his taped thumb into the esophagus of Drew.  Exhausted and gasping for air, Drew yells “I Quit” much to the dismay of his fans.  The Savior raises his arms in victory and Drew is really upset.  He leaves the ring in disgrace while the fans tried to chant his name and cheer him up but nothing works.  They turn their attention to the Savior and practically boo him out of the building.  (56 minutes)

Max is back in his office and announces Steel Curtain vs Muscles Trio for the trophy at the PPV in a Steel Cage.  He says that this will settle things once and for all between these two teams.

It is time for the main event.  Taylor Bella vs the Duchess for the Ladies title.  Taylor starts poking the Duchess in the chest. The champ hits a hair pull and toss and Taylor hits a monkey flip.  Duchess did it again and followed it up with a vicious uppercut.  Duchess this a Lou Thesz press and Taylor face plants Duchess on the mat.  Duchess hits a second LTP.  The ref tries to break them up in the corner and Duchess hits a cheap shot.  Taylor hits an uppercut.  Taylor then tries for a rolling leglock but the Duchess reverses it and hits a foot stomp.  She rolls Taylor up and grabbing a handful of tights, gets the 1-2-3.  The Duchess retains her title in just 7 minutes.  Taylor leaves the ring.  El Gato Negro hits the ring and the two have a staredown as the show comes to an end.

Hello fans and welcome back to our newsletter.  As we saw in the last issue, Ivan Dragovich regained the TV title.  Even though this is “TV”, he said he was taking the night off.  We also saw the Steel Curtain once again get screwed over by the Muscles Trio.  Not only did they lose a shot at the World Tag Team titles but will now have to defend their trophy against the Trio.  That’s fine as I’m sure the SC and Biceps Bannerman will have no problem destroying these guys.

We cut right to GM Max McGillicutty’s office.  ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo walks in and says that he has some shopping to do today so he wants the first match on the card.  Max says fine and Rad heads to the ring.

First, the Shockmaster makes his way to the ring (without stumbling or losing his glitter covered Stormtrooper helmet).  Rad Gumbo then makes his way out with his manager MJ.  He heads to the ring and attacks the Shockmaster before the bell could ring.  Finally, it does ring and we are underway.   Gumbo had it harder than expected as the Shockmaster wouldn’t go quietly into the night.  He put up a hell of a fight and Gumbo kept looking at the clock like he needed to be somewhere.  About 8 minutes in, MJ tells Gumbo to “turn it up” and Rad went to town.  After wearing the big man down, Rad locks in the Onion Lock but needs to use the ropes for leverage.  The Shockmaster ends up tapping out.  Rad Gumbo gets the win in 14 minutes.  MJ motions for Rad to “GO” and he takes off out of the ring.  I wonder what all that is about.

The final announcement regarding the 2016 Hall of Fame is who will induct MW3.  The words “Who will induct MW3 into the Hall of Fame” flash up on the Omegatron and then the lights go dark with only the Omegatron providing light.  Seconds later it too goes off and we hear the all-too-familiar “GONG” ring through the speakers.  Yep, MW3 will be inducted by none other than the Undertaker.

The camera cuts backstage and we see Gumbo rushing out of the building.  There is a car waiting for him.  He hops in and it zooms off.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, out comes Angry Jack Lawson.  We’re still not clear on what went down between him and ‘The Elitist’ Reid Rothchild but it practically caused the two to almost come to blows.  Reid then makes his way out with his manager Master Bull.  Reid looks like a man on a mission.  He hits the ring and the two immediately begin fighting.  Reid tore into Jack and it looked like he was going to just dominate but he began to run out of steam and after whipping Reid into Master Bull and the two collided, Jack then turned on the power.  He began taking the match to Reid but finally Reid had enough and dropped Jack with the Reid Bottom.  He went over and talked to Master Bull and after consoling his angry protégé, he provided some intestinal fortitude and Reid went back to destroying Jack.  Reid hit an axe handle smash from the top rope and hit the Reid Leg Drop.  He made the cover and got the 1-2-3.  Reid wins this one in solid fashion.  Reid and Master Bull celebrated as Jack slunk to the back.   (19 min)

There is commotion backstage and it appears that Madame Jade was taken out.  She is on the ground clutching her knee and there is a police baton sitting on the ground near her (is this Nancy Kerrigan all over again?  The ‘whack’ heard around the locker room).  GM Max McGillicutty walks over and is accompanied by ambulance personnel.  Jade is tended to and gets loaded on a stretcher and is taken out.  Taylor Bella (whoa…she’s a blonde now?) walks over and asks what happened.  Max tells her and she replies “Well I guess that means I inherit her title shot.”  Max reminds her that the Ladies Champion The Duchess has been told to stay at home.  Taylor says that is not acceptable and tells Max that she wants her title shot and she wants it now.  She tells Max to make it happen and then walks away.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  Adam Jameson comes out first to a good pop from the crowd.  Next, Oswald Zimmerman with Ant Graham come out next to a chorus of booing and hissing from the audience.  Adam seemingly owned this match but just as he was going for a pin, Ant Graham would jump on the apron causing a distraction.  He did this a few times during the match and it got under AJ’s skin.  Adam would continue to chase Ant off but he never went far.  Oswald struggled in the ring against the speed of AJ.  Adam dropped Oswald with a pele kick but Ant was right there on the ring apron causing a distraction. AJ turned, apparently fed up, and started to go after Graham but the bell rang signaling a time limit draw.  Adam was ticked off.  Oswald and Ant quickly hightailed it out of there (a draw is better than a loss).   (20 min draw).

The Savior is backstage and he says he has a message for the masses and says he needs to do this in the ring.  He makes his way out and the fans are not happy with what he did to Drew, the Canadian Love Machine.  The Savior said he had to ‘save’ Drew from the lies and deceit and proclaimed that when Drew returns, if he returns, Drew will thank him.  There is a commotion in the crowd and LOOK, it’s Drew the CLM!  He jumps in the ring and after trading fist smashes, he drops the Savior with a kick to the gut and a DDT.  He then locks the Savior in a crippler crossface and hollers for a mic.  He says he wants the Savior in an I QUIT match and tells the Savior who is yelling in pain to accept the match.  After a minute in the excruciating hold, the Savior agrees to the match. Drew lets go and the Savior rolls out of the ring.  The fans pop for Drew as he celebrates in the ring and the Savior mumbles as he makes his way to the back.

Master Bull is in the back with Reid and he is excited about the win.  “You are BACK, Daddy.”  Reid smiled.  “You’re right.  This was a great win and shows that I’ve found my groove.  With that, I’m ready to get back in the title hunt.  Bull, nothing can stop us and we are destined for greatness.”  They shook hands and then left. 

We were very curious as to what Rad Gumbo was up to so our GM sent a cameraman to follow him.  Gumbo exits the car just outside a Fry’s Electronics Superstore.  Gumbo rushes in and sneaks down a parallel aisle and crouches down.  He waits patiently until his prey passes in front of him and he immediately attacks.  HANG ON…that’s MAGNUM KONE!  Rad just goes to town hitting the unsuspecting Kone with everything from flinging CD’s at him like Frisbees to miscellaneous audio equipment.  He tries to choke Kone out with some Monster Cable ™ wires but Kone battles out of it and smashes Rad with a DVD player.  The two continue into the laundry section where Rad slams Kone’s head into a dryer and Magnum slams the washer lid down on Rad’s arm.   Next, they move on to the Home Theatre room and just start whipping each other into the LED and Plasma TV’s just destroying them.  Rad bodyslams Kone onto the broken glass and he hears the sounds of sirens.  Just as he is trying to get a way, Magnum trips him and Rad crashes into a cable filled storage section and got tangled up in the wires (ala C3PO in Star Wars).   Security and the police bring the scuffle to an end and walk both men out in handcuffs.

We finally cut back to our show just in time for the main event.  This will be the Smashers defending the Tag Team titles against the Muscles.  First, Muscles Thorpe and Weasley come out to the horrendous drowning of booing from the crowd.  I guess they finally alienated the fans.  Next, MJ comes out and introduces the champs Smashers #1 and #2 and they are received with equal disdain.  The Smashers immediately went to town just annihilating the Muscles.  While the beatdown was transpiring, the final member of the Muscles Trio Muscles McGuire made his way down only to be cut off by the Steel Curtain.  The Steel Curtain get a huge pop when they drop McGuire on his head.  They continued to the ring where Muscles Thorpe was complaining to the ref about the distraction.  The Smashers took advantage of it and beat him silly.  Thorpe started to battle back up ended up getting tripped by MJ.   The Steel Curtain then pulled Weasley off the ring and his face smashed hard into the mat.  The Smashers then double teamed Thorpe and hit the Steel Smasher.  Smasher #1 made the cover and got the 1-2-3.  The Smashers retain the belts and they glare at the Steel Curtain.  MJ leads his team away.  Buzz Steel climbs into the ring and pulls Muscles Thorpe into the center of the ring.  Starbuck Steel takes Weasley and sets him up on the Spanish Announce table.  Buzz and Starbuck climbed to opposite turnbuckles and launched themselves – Buzz hitting a flying elbow on to Thorpe in the ring and Starbuck hitting a flying leg drop onto Weasley on the table which broke under the impact.  Starbuck joined Buzz in the ring and the fans chanted and applauded them as the show came to an end.
