Hello wrestling fans
and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter!
The familiar opening
riff of "Live Wire" explodes throughout the Columbia Coliseum
as brilliant pyrotechnics ignite the stage. Thousands of fans leap to their
feet, waving signs and cheering as the cameras sweep across the packed arena
before settling at the broadcast desk.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Good evening, everyone, and welcome to HCW Live
Wire! We are coming to you from a sold-out Columbia Coliseum in Columbia,
South Carolina, and what an incredible night we have in store for the HCW
Universe!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "This card is stacked from top to bottom, Mike.
Tonight we'll determine who advances to tomorrow night's Convergent
Championship Tournament Finals, we've got the debut of a brand-new Proving
Grounds competitor, our World Champion is in the building, and the Television
Championship headlines the evening!"
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "At Meltdown, Dominic Marconi fulfilled a lifelong
dream by capturing the HCW World Championship. Tonight, we'll hear from the new
champion for the first time here on Live Wire."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "A celebration is nice, but Dominic better enjoy it
while he can. Zack Brown has already invoked his rematch clause, and everyone
knows Zack is determined to reclaim the championship."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "We'll also witness the HCW debut of Dex Ledger in
Proving Grounds competition. Ledger has promised to revolutionize HCW one
business deal at a time."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "We'll see if he can close deals once somebody
starts throwing punches."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "And our main event features the HCW Television
Championship as The Rich Athlete, accompanied by Ruth Heartless, defends
against the ever-determined Caleb Wilde."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Caleb Wilde has all the heart in the world, but
The Rich Athlete doesn't care about heart. He cares about championships,
expensive suits, and reminding everyone he's better than they are."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "But first, the road to the Convergent Championship
continues tonight with two enormous semifinal matches. By the end of this
broadcast, only two competitors will remain alive in the tournament."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "And don't forget, Mike, tomorrow night on Voltage
it's the Tournament Finals. Whoever survives tonight is just one victory away
from earning a shot at Abaddon and the Convergent Championship on July
26th."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Let's get this incredible night underway!"
"Born to
Rule" fills the arena as the crowd erupts into applause.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Business is about to pick up! Here comes HCW
General Manager Max McGillicutty!"
Max McGillicutty
walks confidently onto the stage, exchanging high-fives with fans before
entering the ring. An HCW microphone is handed to him as the audience chants
his name.
Max McGillicutty: "Good evening,
HCW Universe! Two weeks ago at Meltdown, we witnessed history. Championships
changed hands, rivalries intensified, and tonight another major step is taken
toward crowning the next challenger for the HCW Convergent Championship."
Max turns toward the
giant Omegatron.
The tournament
bracket fills the massive screen.
Max McGillicutty: "Eight
outstanding competitors entered this tournament."
He gestures toward
the left side of the bracket.
Max McGillicutty: "Our first
semifinal features the dominant and dangerous Cassius Onyx taking on the
powerhouse Angus McRae, accompanied by Coach Randall."
He points to the
opposite side.
Max McGillicutty: "Then later
tonight, one of HCW's most respected veterans, Jack Lumber, squares off against
one of our brightest young stars, Kai Zenith."
The crowd applauds
all four competitors.
Max McGillicutty: "The winners
won't have much time to celebrate because tomorrow night on Voltage they meet
in the Tournament Finals."
He pauses before
delivering the final announcement.
Max McGillicutty: "And the winner
of that match earns the right to challenge Abaddon for the HCW Convergent
Championship on July 26th."
Another loud ovation
echoes throughout the arena.
Max McGillicutty: "To all four
competitors...good luck. The opportunity is there. Go earn it."
Max raises a hand to
the crowd before leaving the ring.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "An incredible opportunity awaits one of those four
men."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Survive tonight...win tomorrow...and you've got a
date with Abaddon. It doesn't get any bigger than that."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "When we return, we'll kick things off with Proving
Grounds action as Dex Ledger makes his HCW debut against Ghee
Buttersnaps!"
The lights dim as
upbeat rock music fills the Columbia Coliseum. The fans clap along before
erupting into cheers.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Here comes a man looking to build some momentum
here in HCW. Ghee Buttersnaps has shown flashes of real potential since
arriving on the scene."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Potential doesn't win matches. Results do. Tonight
he's facing someone who's been talking a very big game before ever stepping
foot inside an HCW ring."
Ghee Buttersnaps
emerges through the curtain with a smile, slapping hands with fans lining the
entrance ramp. He pauses at the top of the stage, soaking in the reception
before jogging toward the ring. Sliding under the bottom rope, he climbs the
second turnbuckle and acknowledges the crowd on all four sides of the arena
before dropping back to the canvas.
The audience responds
with another round of applause as Ghee stretches in his corner, anxiously
awaiting his opponent.
Suddenly, the arena
lights fade to black.
A single spotlight
illuminates the entrance stage.
A large digital
graphic appears on the Omegatron.
DEAL CLOSED.
Electronic music with
a powerful bass line begins playing as gold and emerald lights sweep throughout
the arena.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Well, here he is. This is the HCW debut of Dex
Ledger."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Now that's how you make a first impression."
Dex Ledger
confidently walks through the curtain wearing an expensive tailored business
suit over his wrestling gear. He never acknowledges the fans. Instead, he
calmly adjusts his cufflinks before straightening his tie.
He stops halfway down
the ramp, glances around the arena with an expression that suggests he's
evaluating a business acquisition rather than entering a wrestling match, then
flashes a smug grin.
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Look at this guy. He acts like he already owns the
place."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Confidence is one thing. Earning respect is
another."
Dex removes his suit
jacket and neatly folds it before handing it to an HCW ringside attendant as
though conducting a boardroom meeting. He steps onto the ring apron, wipes his
polished dress shoes carefully on the mat, then enters through the ropes without
ever taking his eyes off Ghee Buttersnaps.
Standing in the
center of the ring, Dex slowly loosens his tie before removing it and placing
it in his corner with meticulous precision. He rolls his shoulders, smirking as
Ghee stares across the ring, eager to get started.
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Ladies and gentlemen...this opening contest is scheduled for one
fall!"
The crowd applauds.
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Introducing first...already in the ring...from Maple Grove,
Minnesota...weighing in at 223 pounds...GHEEEEEE BUTTERSNAPS!"
Ghee raises both arms
as the fans cheer.
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"And his opponent...making his HCW Proving Grounds debut...from Manhattan,
New York...weighing in at 231 pounds...DEX...LEDDDDGGGGERRRRR!"
A mixed reaction
greets the newcomer as Dex simply adjusts his cuffs one final time before
locking eyes with his opponent.
The referee steps
between both competitors, giving them final instructions before asking if
they're ready.
Ghee nods
immediately.
Dex offers a
confident smirk and slowly nods back.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "The introductions are complete. The stage is
set."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Let's find out if Dex Ledger can back up all that
confidence."
The referee signals
for the opening bell...
The bell sounded and
both men wasted little time feeling each other out. Ghee Buttersnaps opened
aggressively, connecting with a sharp elbow smash and a Power Arm Bar that
briefly forced the newcomer onto the defensive. Dex Ledger, however, never
looked rattled. Instead, he calmly adjusted his strategy, immediately beginning
to target Ghee's shoulder with a series of punishing Double Underhook Shoulder
Breakers and Gutwrench Suplexes.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Ghee came out firing, but look how quickly Dex
Ledger has settled into this match."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "That's because he's got a game plan. This guy
isn't just wrestling—he's executing a business strategy."
Ledger wrestled with
remarkable patience, refusing to let emotion dictate his offense. Every attack
seemed designed to wear Ghee down piece by piece. A devastating Pipeline Driver
rocked the fan favorite early before Dex followed with a Double Cross Rolling
Cutter and even resorted to a blatant eye poke when Ghee threatened to build
momentum.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Come on! That's an eye poke right in front of
Honest Abe!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Sometimes you've got to exploit a market
inefficiency, Mike."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "You mean cheat."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Tomato... tomahto."
Dex looked ready to
close the deal just eight minutes into his HCW career, hooking the leg after
another shoulder breaker.
One...
Ghee kicked out.
Ledger tried again
only two minutes later after another crushing Double Underhook Shoulder
Breaker.
One...
Again, Ghee refused
to stay down.
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Looks like the deal isn't closed just yet."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Ghee Buttersnaps isn't signing any contracts
tonight."
The longer the match
continued, the more the Columbia Coliseum rallied behind Ghee. Every time Dex
landed a suplex or backbreaker, Ghee answered with something of his own—an
Elbow Smash, a Belly-to-Back Suplex, a Back Body Drop, or his trademark Power
Arm Bar. Momentum swung back and forth as the veteran refused to allow the
debuting Ledger to coast to victory.
Midway through the
contest, Ghee caught fire.
A thunderous GHEE
HEE HEE ignited the crowd before a Corner Smash and Back Body Drop had Dex
scrambling for answers. Even after absorbing more punishment, Ghee continued
mounting spirited rallies, forcing Ledger to rethink his approach.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Give Ghee Buttersnaps credit! Every time Dex
thinks he's taken control, Ghee finds another gear!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "That's admirable, but admirable doesn't show up in
the win column."
With the match
entering its final minutes, Ghee appeared to be on the verge of turning the
tide for good. Dex attempted to throw him to the outside, but Ghee brilliantly
reversed the attempt and blasted the newcomer with another GHEE HEE HEE,
sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Sensing the momentum
slipping away, Ledger remained composed. Moments later, Ghee attempted to
follow up with another GHEE HEE HEE, but this time Dex anticipated it,
countered the attack, and hurled Ghee to the floor to halt the rally before it
could truly take hold.
After both men beat
the referee's count back into the ring, they exchanged one final flurry. Ghee
connected with one last Elbow Smash, but the damage to his shoulder and back
had begun to take its toll.
Dex seized the
opening.
He hoisted Ghee high
into the air...
PIPELINE DRIVER!
The Sitout Powerbomb
drove Ghee violently into the canvas.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Pipeline Driver! That may do it!"
Ledger hooked both
legs.
One...
Two...
Three!
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Here is your winner...making a successful HCW Proving Grounds debut...DEX
LEDGER!"
Dex rose to his feet
without celebrating wildly. Instead, he calmly straightened his wrist tape,
adjusted his cuffs as if concluding a successful business meeting, and allowed
himself a satisfied smirk before exiting the ring. Behind him, Ghee Buttersnaps
accepted the applause of the HCW faithful after another gutsy performance
despite falling short.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "What an impressive debut by Dex Ledger.
Methodical, disciplined, and when the opportunity presented itself, he
capitalized."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "He told everyone he'd close the deal, Mike...and
tonight, business was very, very good."
Dex headed up the
entrance ramp without looking back, while Ghee received an appreciative ovation
from the Columbia Coliseum for his resilience in defeat.
Backstage:
The camera cut
backstage where Candace Hart stood with a microphone in hand beside the
victorious Dex Ledger. Gone was the intensity from moments ago. Dex had already
changed back into his tailored charcoal suit, straightened his cuffs, and
looked as composed as if he'd just finished a board meeting instead of a
grueling twenty-seven-minute match.
Candace Hart: "Dex Ledger,
congratulations on a successful HCW Proving Grounds debut. Twenty-seven minutes
against a determined opponent in Ghee Buttersnaps. What are your thoughts after
your first victory in Heritage Championship Wrestling?"
Dex allowed himself a
slight smile before adjusting his tie.
Dex Ledger: "Candace...
before entering any new market, a wise investor performs due diligence. He
studies the competition. He identifies risk. Then... he executes the
plan."
He glanced toward the
camera.
Dex Ledger: "For weeks,
people asked who Dex Ledger was."
A slight shrug.
Dex Ledger: "Now they
know."
He straightened one
cuff.
Dex Ledger: "Ghee
Buttersnaps deserves my respect. He exceeded expectations. He was resilient.
Resourceful. He forced me to adapt."
Another brief smile
crossed his face.
Dex Ledger: "Fortunately...
adaptation is one of my greatest assets."
Candace nodded.
Candace Hart: "Many
competitors treat Proving Grounds as simply an opportunity to earn a contract.
Is that how you view it?"
Dex chuckled softly.
Dex Ledger: "No."
A brief pause.
Dex Ledger: "Most people
celebrate getting hired."
He looked directly
into the camera.
Dex Ledger: "I didn't come
here looking for employment."
Another pause.
Dex Ledger: "I came here
looking for acquisitions."
Candace raised an
eyebrow.
Candace Hart:
"Acquisitions?"
Dex Ledger:
"Opportunities."
He began counting
them off on his fingers.
Dex Ledger:
"Victories."
Another finger.
Dex Ledger:
"Championships."
Another.
Dex Ledger:
"Legacies."
He lowered his hand.
Dex Ledger: "Every member
of this roster is an investment opportunity."
A confident smirk
appeared.
Dex Ledger: "Some will
appreciate in value."
A beat.
Dex Ledger:
"Others..."
He adjusted his
cufflinks one final time.
Dex Ledger: "...are
destined for liquidation."
Dex offered Candace a
courteous nod before walking out of frame without another word, leaving Candace
looking back toward the camera.
Candace Hart: "An impressive
debut in the ring... and an equally confident statement afterward. Dex Ledger
appears to have very ambitious plans here in HCW."
The broadcast faded
to black for the evening's first commercial break.

(Return from

The broadcast
returned to a wide shot of the sold-out Columbia Coliseum as the crowd buzzed
with anticipation. Signs waved throughout the arena while the familiar
red-and-gold Live Wire stage glowed beneath the arena lights.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Welcome back to HCW Live Wire, everyone! If you're
just joining us, what a debut we witnessed from Dex Ledger. Twenty-seven
hard-fought minutes against Ghee Buttersnaps, and Ledger proved exactly why so
many people have been talking about him."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "He said he'd close the deal, Mike, and that's
exactly what he did. If that's a preview of what's to come, the rest of the
locker room ought to start paying attention."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Still to come tonight, we'll hear from HCW World
Champion Dominic Marconi, we'll crown a finalist in the Convergent Championship
Tournament, and later this evening, The Rich Athlete defends the HCW Television
Championship against Caleb Wilde."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "But first, we've got one half of the tournament
semifinals, and somebody's dream of becoming the number one contender is about
to stay alive."
Convergent
Championship Tournament – Semifinal Match
The lights dimmed as
an ominous orchestral theme echoed throughout the Columbia Coliseum. A chorus
of boos erupted as Cassius Onyx emerged from behind the curtain. Dressed
in his customary black gear with silver accents, Cassius marched deliberately
toward the ring, never acknowledging the hostile crowd. His cold expression
never changed as he climbed onto the apron and stepped between the ropes,
immediately taking his corner and staring toward the entrance.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Cassius Onyx has been absolutely relentless since
arriving in HCW. Last Sunday, he defeated Titan Briggs to earn this semifinal
opportunity."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "And don't forget what he did to Biceps Bannerman
after Meltdown. Cassius isn't interested in making friends—he's interested in
making statements."
Moments later, the
arena filled with the sound of bagpipes as the crowd erupted in cheers.
Angus McRae stepped onto the
stage wearing his trademark tartan kilt before confidently raising a fist
toward the crowd. Beside him stood Coach Randall, clapping proudly as
the veteran encouraged his protégé down the aisle. Angus slapped hands with
several fans before reaching ringside, removing his kilt, and climbing into the
ring. Across from him, Cassius never took his eyes off his opponent.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Angus McRae has quickly become one of the most
popular young stars in HCW, and Coach Randall has played a huge role in his
development."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Popularity doesn't win tournaments, Mike. Cassius
has been in this exact situation before. Experience matters."
The two semifinalists
met in the center of the ring, neither man willing to back down as the tension
became palpable.
The crowd roared as
Angus raised a fist before turning his attention back to Cassius.
The referee called
both competitors to the center of the ring, issued his final instructions, and
checked each man for foreign objects. Satisfied, he stepped back, looked from
one competitor to the other...
...and called for the
bell.
The opening bell had
barely sounded before Angus McRae took the fight directly to Cassius
Onyx. The Scottish powerhouse stunned his larger opponent with a thunderous
Shotgun Dropkick before immediately following with a crushing Brainbuster that
brought the Columbia Coliseum to its feet. Cassius rolled to the outside to
regroup, but Angus pursued him, refusing to allow the dangerous powerhouse a
moment to recover.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Angus McRae came into this semifinal with one
objective—keep Cassius Onyx on the defensive!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "That's easier said than done, Mike. Cassius
doesn't panic. He waits."
With Coach Randall
barking instructions from ringside, Angus maintained complete control through
the opening minutes. A devastating Muscle Buster rattled Cassius before another
thunderous Spike Powerbomb nearly ended the match early. Cassius narrowly
escaped defeat, but the frustration on his face became more apparent with every
passing minute.
Realizing things were
slipping away, Cassius briefly turned his attention toward Coach Randall,
attempting to intimidate the veteran mentor on the outside. Randall stood his
ground, refusing to be intimidated, while Angus capitalized on the distraction
by driving Cassius back to the canvas with another punishing suplex.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Coach Randall isn't backing down one bit!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "He's playing a dangerous game. Keep poking the
bear and eventually the bear bites."
The punishment
continued as Angus repeatedly sent Cassius crashing to the arena floor. Midway
through the contest, the momentum reached a fever pitch when Angus hurled
Cassius outside once again and pressed the attack.
Referee ‘Honest’
Abe began his count.
"...Seven!...
Eight!... Nine!..."
At the very last
instant, Cassius dove beneath the bottom rope, barely beating the count as the
crowd gasped in disbelief.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Cassius Onyx was a heartbeat away from
elimination!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "And yet... he's still alive. That's why you never
count this man out."
Although Angus
continued to dictate much of the offense, the constant barrage had failed to
keep Cassius down. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, the tide began to turn.
Cassius absorbed another Spike Powerbomb, staggered to his feet, and answered
with a crushing Onyx Cataclysm that instantly changed the complexion of
the match.
The crowd roared as
both men struggled to rise.
Cassius struck next
with a massive Pop-Up Powerbomb.
One...
Two...
Angus kicked out!
The Columbia Coliseum
erupted in applause as the resilient Scotsman refused to let his tournament
dreams end.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "What resilience from Angus McRae!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Cassius isn't discouraged. Predators don't chase
forever—they wait for one opening."
Both competitors
staggered to their feet for one final exchange. Angus fired one last volley of
strikes, but the earlier punishment had begun to sap his strength. Cassius
absorbed the blows, ducked beneath a clothesline, wrapped his arms around
Angus...
...and drove him
violently into the canvas with a thunderous Spinebuster!
Cassius hooked both
legs.
One...
Two...
Three!
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Here is your winner...and advancing to the finals of the Convergent
Championship Tournament...CASSIUS ONYX!"
Cassius slowly rose
to his feet, breathing heavily after surviving the toughest challenge of his
HCW career. He stared down at the fallen Angus for a brief moment before
raising a single fist in victory. Across the ring, Coach Randall helped Angus
back to his feet as the Columbia faithful rewarded the Scotsman with a standing
ovation for his valiant effort.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Angus McRae threw everything he had at Cassius
Onyx tonight."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "And Cassius only needed one mistake. That's what
separates dangerous competitors from great ones."
Cassius backed up the
entrance ramp without taking his eyes off the ring, knowing his victory had
secured a place in tomorrow night's tournament final on Voltage, where
one more win would earn him a shot at Abaddon and the HCW Convergent
Championship.
The lights dimmed as
the familiar theme of HCW World Heavyweight Champion Dominic Marconi
filled the Columbia Coliseum. The crowd immediately rose to its feet, showering
the champion with a thunderous ovation as he emerged from the entranceway with
the World Championship proudly draped over his shoulder.
Dominic paused at the
top of the ramp, taking in the reception before raising the championship high
above his head. He made his way down the aisle, exchanging handshakes and
high-fives with fans lining the barricades before climbing into the ring.
The audience erupted
into another chant.
"DOM-IN-IC!
DOM-IN-IC! DOM-IN-IC!"
Dominic smiled
appreciatively before accepting a microphone from ringside.
Dominic Marconi: "You
know..."
The crowd quieted.
Dominic Marconi: "People always
say becoming the World Champion is the hardest part."
He looked down at the
championship resting on his shoulder.
Dominic Marconi: "They're
wrong."
A slight smile
crossed his face.
Dominic Marconi: "Keeping it...
that's the hard part."
The fans applauded.
Dominic Marconi: "Two weeks ago
at Meltdown, I walked into the biggest match of my career against one of the
greatest champions HCW has ever seen."
Another round of
applause followed at the mention of Zack Brown.
Dominic Marconi: "Zack Brown
pushed me to my absolute limit."
He nodded
respectfully.
Dominic Marconi: "I earned this
championship because of that fight... and I'll always respect Zack for bringing
out the very best in me."
The champion rested
the title against his shoulder once more.
Dominic Marconi: "But
this..."
He held the
championship high.
Dominic Marconi: "...doesn't
belong to me."
The audience looked
on curiously.
Dominic Marconi: "It belongs to
every person who believed I could get here."
Cheers filled the
arena.
Dominic Marconi: "It belongs to
every kid who dreams of standing in this ring someday."
More applause.
Dominic Marconi: "And it belongs
to every HCW fan who's supported this company from day one."
The champion's smile
broadened.
Dominic Marconi: "Now, I know
Zack Brown has exercised his rematch clause."
The crowd reacted
with anticipation.
Dominic Marconi: "Good."
Dominic nodded
confidently.
Dominic Marconi: "Because
champions don't run from challenges."
Another ovation swept
through the building.
Dominic Marconi: "Zack... if
you're watching..."
He looked directly
into the hard camera.
Dominic Marconi: "I'll be
ready."
The fans erupted once
again.
Dominic Marconi: "At Reign of
Champions, you're going to get the very best version of Dominic
Marconi..."
He raised the title
one final time.
Dominic Marconi: "...because
that's what this championship deserves."
The crowd exploded
into cheers as Dominic climbed the second turnbuckle and held the HCW World
Championship high above his head while camera flashes illuminated the arena.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "What a statement from our World Champion.
Confident, respectful, and ready for what may be the biggest rematch in HCW
history."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Respect is nice, Mike, but Zack Brown isn't coming
to shake Dominic's hand. He's coming to take that championship back."
The broadcast faded
to ringside as the crowd continued chanting for the reigning World Champion.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "What a reception for our World Heavyweight
Champion, Johnny. Dominic Marconi made it crystal clear—he welcomes the
challenge from Zack Brown at Reign of Champions."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Confidence is easy when you've got the title over
your shoulder. Let's see if he's still smiling after Zack gets his
rematch."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Still to come tonight, our Television Championship
main event, but first, we've got tag team action."
The Columbia Coliseum
erupted into cheers as energetic rock music blasted through the arena speakers.
Kellyn "The
Raven Archer" Chrisari and Alex "Skyhawk" Justice
stepped through the curtain to a warm ovation. The former Heritage Tag Team
Champions exchanged a confident nod before making their way down the entrance
ramp, slapping hands with fans along both sides of the aisle.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Listen to this crowd! Steel Justice remains one of
the most respected tag teams in HCW."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Respected doesn't put championship gold around
your waist, Mike. They're still trying to climb back into title
contention."
Kellyn paused at
ringside, pointing toward several young fans wearing Steel Justice merchandise
before Alex leaped effortlessly onto the ring apron. The partners met in the
center of the ring with a quick fist bump before taking opposite corners, ready
for the challenge ahead.
Their music faded...
...only to be
replaced by a wall of boos.
Heavy guitar riffs
echoed through the arena as Muscles McGuire and Muscles Weasley
swaggered onto the stage. The self-proclaimed Muscles Duo flexed
arrogantly, soaking in the negative reaction from the Columbia faithful before
beginning their march to the ring.
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Now there's a team that isn't afraid to let
everyone know they're the strongest men in the building."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "They're certainly confident. Whether that
confidence matches their ability against a team like Steel Justice is another
question."
McGuire pounded his
chest while Weasley posed atop the stage one final time before both men
strutted toward the ring, jawing with fans who lined the barricades. They
climbed inside, continued their flexing routine from opposite turnbuckles, and
then turned their attention toward Steel Justice across the ring.
The referee completed
his final checks with both teams before stepping back and signaling for the
opening bell.
The opening moments
saw Muscles McGuire immediately use his size advantage against Alex
"Skyhawk" Justice, driving him across his knee with a punishing
Pendulum Backbreaker. The arrogant powerhouse barked at the crowd after the
impact, but Skyhawk answered almost instantly, sweeping McGuire off his feet
with a perfectly timed Ariel Sweep that brought the HCW faithful to life.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Alex Justice showing exactly why Steel Justice is
one of the premier tag teams in HCW!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Premier? They haven't held those Heritage Tag
Titles in weeks, Mike. They're living on reputation."
McGuire quickly
tagged in Muscles Weasley, and the Muscles Duo wasted no time bending
the rules. Catching Justice in their corner, the two repeatedly isolated him
with quick tags and illegal double-team tactics while distracting Honest Abe
just long enough to gain the advantage.
Weasley crushed
Skyhawk with the Muscles Crush before McGuire surprisingly launched
himself into a Hurricanrana. Justice somehow fought through the punishment,
answering with a spectacular Celestial Spiral Leg Drop that momentarily
halted the assault.
The momentum didn't
last.
The Muscles Duo
trapped Justice again moments later, using outside interference and another
devastating Jumping Back Elbow to send Skyhawk tumbling to the arena floor. The
Columbia Coliseum urged him on as Honest Abe's count climbed.
"...Seven!...
Eight!... Nine!..."
Justice slid beneath
the bottom rope just before the ten-count, refusing to let his team lose by
count-out.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "That was awfully close! Alex Justice barely made
it back!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "That's exactly what good teams do. They cut the
ring in half and make life miserable."
Justice refused to
stay grounded. After weathering several more attacks, he exploded with another Celestial
Spiral Leg Drop before finally reaching his corner.
The crowd erupted.
Kellyn "The
Raven Archer" Chrisari entered the match like a house afire.
Steel Justice
immediately showcased the teamwork that once made them Heritage Tag Team
Champions. Justice connected with an Enchanted Dropkick, launching
Weasley perfectly into position for Kellyn's breathtaking Raven's Flight
Body Press. Although Weasley answered with his crushing Honor Roll
Rolling Clothesline, the tide had unmistakably shifted.
Moments later,
Justice soared over the top rope with a breathtaking Justice Dive to Outside
of Ring, wiping out Weasley on the floor.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "What incredible athleticism by Skyhawk!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "He's taking as much punishment as he's giving. I
don't know how much he's got left."
Weasley crawled back
into the ring at the count of seven before both teams exchanged fresh partners.
Kellyn immediately answered with a spectacular Raven's Flight, while
Justice later countered Weasley's Front Dropkick with an equally dazzling Skyhawk
Soar Moonsault, keeping Steel Justice firmly in control.
Still, the Muscles
Duo refused to go quietly.
McGuire reversed
Kellyn's attempt at the Raven's Claw Neck Pinch, drilling him with
another Jumping Back Elbow before once again tagging out to keep fresh legs in
the match.
With the contest
entering its twelfth minute, both teams knew one mistake could decide
everything.
Weasley struck first
with a Flying Headscissors, but Justice saw an opening.
Skyhawk burst across
the ring...
Leaped through the
ropes...
JUSTICE DIVE TO
OUTSIDE OF RING!
Both men crashed
violently to the floor as the Columbia Coliseum rose to its feet.
Honest Abe
immediately began counting.
"...Four!...
Five!... Six!..."
Justice staggered to
his feet first.
"...Seven!...
Eight!..."
He slid back into the
ring.
Weasley desperately
crawled toward the apron.
"...Nine!..."
The crowd counted
along.
"...TEN!"
The bell sounded.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "He didn't make it! Muscles Weasley has been
counted out!"
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Here are your winners by count-out...STEEL JUSTICE!"
Kellyn rushed into
the ring as he and Justice embraced in celebration before raising each other's
arms to a loud ovation from the Columbia faithful. Outside the ring, Muscles
McGuire pounded the ringside mats in frustration while Weasley argued with Honest
Abe, insisting he had beaten the count.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Steel Justice won't complain about how they got it
done. A victory is a victory, and this could be exactly the momentum they need
to climb back into the Heritage Tag Team Championship picture."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Momentum? Maybe. But if I'm the Muscles Duo, I'm
demanding another shot. They were one heartbeat away from making it back into
the ring."
Steel Justice
celebrated atop opposite turnbuckles as the fans applauded, while the dejected
Muscles Duo slowly made their way back up the entrance ramp, still arguing over
the costly mistake that ended the match.
The cameras shifted
backstage where Candace Hart stood beside Jack Lumber. The former
HCW Convergent Champion had a focused expression on his face, his hands folded
in front of him as he waited for the interview to begin.
Candace Hart: "Jack, thank
you for joining me. Earlier this week on Shockwave, you defeated Kai Zenith to
advance to tomorrow night's finals of the Convergent Championship Tournament.
If you win one more match, you'll earn another opportunity at the championship
you lost just two weeks ago at Meltdown."
Jack nodded
thoughtfully.
Candace Hart: "I have to
ask... is losing the Convergent Championship to Abaddon still weighing on your
mind?"
Jack paused for a
moment before answering.
Jack Lumber: "I'd be lying
if I said it didn't."
He looked down
briefly before meeting Candace's eyes again.
Jack Lumber: "You don't
spend months fighting for something... defending it... carrying it with
pride... and then just forget the day you lose it."
He took a slow
breath.
Jack Lumber: "That
championship meant a lot to me."
The crowd inside the
arena could be heard applauding through the monitor feed.
Jack Lumber: "But here's
something my father taught me a long time ago."
A faint smile crossed
his face.
Jack Lumber: "You can't
change yesterday... but you can fight for tomorrow."
He nodded with quiet
confidence.
Jack Lumber: "Meltdown is
behind me."
"Tomorrow
night..."
"I have another
opportunity."
Jack's expression
hardened.
Jack Lumber: "Kai Zenith,
Cassius Onyx, Angus McRae... it doesn't matter who stands across the
ring."
Candace Hart: "Even if that
road leads right back to Abaddon?"
Jack didn't hesitate.
Jack Lumber: "Especially if
it leads back to Abaddon."
He looked directly
into the camera.
Jack Lumber: "Champions
aren't measured by how long they hold a title."
A brief pause.
Jack Lumber: "They're
measured by what they do after they lose it."
He gave a determined
nod.
Jack Lumber: "So tomorrow
night..."
"I'm going to
earn another chance."
"And if that
road leads me back to Abaddon..."
A determined smile
appeared.
"...I'll be
ready."
Jack thanked Candace
with a respectful nod before walking out of frame, leaving her to face the
camera.
Candace Hart: "Jack Lumber
has made it clear—he isn't dwelling on the past. His focus is entirely on
tomorrow night's Convergent Championship Tournament Final on Voltage."
The camera faded back
to ringside as the Columbia Coliseum crowd applauded the heartfelt message from
the former champion.
(Return to Ringside)
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "An impressive victory moments ago for Steel
Justice. Alex 'Skyhawk' Justice and Kellyn 'The Raven Archer' Chrisari continue
to build momentum in an increasingly competitive Heritage Tag Team
division."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "I'll give them credit—they found a way to win. But
don't be surprised if the Muscles Duo has something to say about being counted
out."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "We also heard from former Convergent Champion Jack
Lumber, who made one thing perfectly clear—his focus is on tomorrow night's
tournament final and earning another opportunity at Abaddon."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "That's easier said than done. Jack may have his
eyes on the future, but first he's got to survive tomorrow night."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Right now, though, we've got ladies' division
action as two of HCW's most respected competitors square off."
Elegant orchestral
music echoed throughout the Columbia Coliseum as Blair Kensington
stepped gracefully onto the stage. Dressed in her signature royal blue attire,
Blair smiled warmly as she acknowledged the cheering fans before beginning the
walk to the ring.
Just a few steps
behind her was Coach Randall, applauding proudly while offering words of
encouragement to his protégé. Blair paused several times to shake hands with
fans at ringside before climbing onto the apron and stepping confidently
through the ropes.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Blair Kensington continues to impress every time
she steps into an HCW ring. With Coach Randall in her corner, she's become one
of the brightest young stars in the women's division."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Coach Randall has been everywhere tonight. First
Angus McRae, now Blair Kensington. You can't question the man's
dedication."
Blair removed her
entrance jacket and took a deep breath as she waited in her corner.
The arena lights
dimmed.
A haunting melody
drifted through the speakers as soft purple lighting washed over the entrance
stage. The Columbia faithful rose to their feet as Nyx Evermore emerged
from behind the curtain.
Nyx made her way
slowly toward the ring, acknowledging the fans with a quiet smile and gentle
waves before pausing midway down the aisle to take in the ovation. Her calm
confidence contrasted sharply with Blair's energetic enthusiasm, but the
respect between the two competitors was evident.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Listen to this ovation for Nyx Evermore. She has
become one of the most beloved competitors in HCW."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "These two have a lot in common. They're both
talented, they're both respected, and neither one is going to give the other an
inch once that bell rings."
Nyx climbed into the
ring and walked directly toward center, offering Blair a respectful nod. Blair
smiled in return before extending her hand.
Nyx accepted.
The Columbia Coliseum
applauded the display of sportsmanship as both women returned to their
respective corners.
The referee completed
the final pre-match instructions, looked from Blair Kensington to Nyx
Evermore...
...and called for the
opening bell.
From the opening
bell, it was evident the Columbia Coliseum was about to witness a wrestling
clinic.
Neither woman
hesitated, meeting in the center of the ring with a blistering exchange that
saw Nyx Evermore connect with her signature Scissor Sister Split Leg
Drop, only for Blair Kensington to answer seconds later with a
perfectly executed Storm One DDT. The respectful atmosphere remained
intact, but neither competitor was willing to surrender an inch.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "This is exactly what we expected—two outstanding
athletes determined to prove they're among the very best in HCW."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "No shortcuts. No cheap shots. Just two competitors
trying to outwrestle each other."
The pace only
intensified.
Blair launched
herself through the ropes with a daring Suicide Dive, driving Nyx to the
arena floor before the former Heritage Women's Champion beat the referee's
count back into the ring at six. Nyx answered moments later with a crushing
Clothesline and Wheelbarrow Bulldog, refusing to let Blair establish any
sustained momentum.
Outside the ring, Coach
Randall remained a steady voice of encouragement.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Coach Randall has been busy tonight, but listen to
him—every instruction is about positioning and staying composed."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "That's what good coaches do. He's not wrestling
the match for Blair—he's helping her stay one step ahead."
Midway through the
contest, Blair attempted a devastating Double Underhook Powerbomb, only for Nyx
to reverse it beautifully into a thunderous Superkick that echoed
throughout the Columbia Coliseum.
The crowd erupted.
Nyx capitalized with
a series of Dropkicks and her devastating Celestial Descent DDT, finally
scoring the night's first pin attempt.
One...
Blair kicked out.
Moments later,
another Dropkick led to a second cover.
One...
Two...
Again, Blair
survived.
Nyx wasn't finished.
A third Celestial
Descent DDT brought another cover, but Blair once again refused to stay
down.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Nyx Evermore is throwing everything she has at
Blair Kensington!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "And Blair just keeps answering the bell."
Having survived Nyx's
relentless assault, Blair slowly began turning the tide.
Repeated Air Raid
Crash variations punished Nyx's back and shoulders before a Release German
Suplex sent the crowd gasping. Every time Nyx mounted another comeback with a
Dropkick or Clothesline, Blair responded with another powerful slam, refusing
to allow her opponent to build lasting momentum.
As the match entered
its final ten minutes, fatigue became impossible to ignore.
Coach Randall
continued encouraging Blair from ringside, reminding her to stay focused while
Nyx fought through obvious exhaustion to land another Rolling Thunder Front
Dropkick and Wheelbarrow Bulldog. Despite thirty minutes of nearly nonstop
action, neither woman was willing to concede.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "This has become a battle of endurance!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Neither one wants to blink first."
With just moments
remaining, Blair delivered another crushing Release German Suplex and
hooked the leg.
One...
Two...
Nyx kicked out!
The Columbia Coliseum
exploded in applause as both women struggled back to their feet.
The final minute
became a desperate race against the clock.
Nyx fired off another
Dropkick.
Blair answered with a
powerful Alabama Slam.
Both women lay
exhausted on the canvas as the referee looked toward the timekeeper.
The bell sounded.
The crowd rose to its
feet.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "We've reached the thirty-minute time limit!"
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Ladies and gentlemen... the time limit has expired! Therefore... this
match has been declared... a draw!"
The audience rewarded
both competitors with a standing ovation as Blair slowly sat against the ropes,
visibly frustrated that she had come so close to victory. Coach Randall entered
the ring and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, quietly reminding her
how well she had performed.
Across the ring, Nyx
rose slowly to her feet and nodded respectfully toward Blair. After a brief
hesitation, Blair returned the gesture, and the two competitors shared a
handshake in the center of the ring to another loud ovation from the Columbia
faithful.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "What a tremendous display of sportsmanship.
Neither woman could put the other away, and after thirty incredible minutes, a
draw is the only fitting result."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "You can see the disappointment on Blair's face,
but Coach Randall is doing exactly what a great mentor should. This wasn't a
loss—it was proof that she belongs among HCW's elite."
As Nyx exited the
ring to acknowledge the fans, Blair remained inside for a moment with Coach
Randall, taking one last look around the arena before following him
backstage—determined to turn tonight's hard-fought draw into tomorrow's
breakthrough.
As the applause from
the Columbia Coliseum echoed through the arena, the broadcast quietly shifted
backstage.
Inside a dimly lit
corridor, a lone television monitor replayed highlights from the match that had
just concluded.
Standing motionless
before it...
...was Lazarus
Blackstar.
His hands were folded
behind his back as the flickering light from the monitor illuminated his
expressionless face. Beside him stood Dorian Vire, equally silent.
Neither man spoke.
The replay ended.
The screen faded to
black.
Only then did Lazarus
slowly tilt his head.
A faint smile crept
across his face.
Lazarus Blackstar: "Even the
brightest stars..."
A pause.
"...must one day
embrace the night."
He turned away from
the monitor.
Lazarus Blackstar: "The prophecy
continues."
Without another word,
Lazarus and Dorian disappeared into the shadows as the camera lingered for a
moment on the now-dark monitor before fading back to ringside.
(Return to Ringside)
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "An unsettling sight moments ago as Lazarus
Blackstar once again reminded everyone that he always seems to be watching from
the shadows."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "I don't know what goes on inside that man's head,
Mike... and frankly, I don't want to."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Well, it's time to turn our attention back to the
Convergent Championship Tournament. One semifinal is already in the books.
Tomorrow night on Voltage, Cassius Onyx awaits the winner of this next
contest."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "And what a semifinal it is. Kai Zenith has dazzled
fans throughout this tournament, but standing across the ring is a former
Convergent Champion who's looking to earn his way back to Abaddon."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "The winner advances to tomorrow night's tournament
final. Let's send it to the ring."
The lights dimmed as
energetic electronic music filled the Columbia Coliseum. Kai Zenith
burst through the curtain to a loud ovation, slapping hands with fans on both
sides of the entrance ramp before sprinting toward the ring.
Kai leapt onto the
apron in one fluid motion, springboarding over the top rope before landing
perfectly in the center of the ring. He pointed toward the crowd, receiving
another thunderous cheer as he warmed up in his corner.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Kai Zenith has been one of the breakout stars of
this tournament. His speed and athleticism have made him one of the toughest
competitors to prepare for."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "He's going to need every bit of that speed
tonight."
The arena lights
shifted to a warm amber glow.
The unmistakable
sound of an axe striking wood echoed throughout the building before Jack
Lumber emerged onto the stage to one of the biggest ovations of the night.
Jack paused for a
moment, taking in the crowd's reaction before beginning the walk toward the
ring.
As he reached
ringside, he made his customary stop at the Lumber Lounge, spending
several moments greeting fans, shaking hands, and exchanging high-fives with
children gathered around the special seating section before continuing toward
the ring.
The fans responded
with chants of...
"JACK! JACK!
JACK!"
Jack climbed onto the
apron, stepped through the ropes, and acknowledged each side of the arena
before removing his flannel shirt and handing it to a young fan seated near
ringside.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Listen to this crowd. Jack Lumber has become one
of the most beloved competitors in Heritage Championship Wrestling."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "You can feel what's at stake tonight. One more
victory and Jack gets another chance at the championship he lost at
Meltdown."
With both competitors
standing in opposite corners, Tony "Echo" Calibur stepped to
the center of the ring.
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Ladies and gentlemen... the following contest is scheduled for one fall
and is a Convergent Championship Tournament Semifinal!
Introducing first...
from Neo Kyoto, Japan... weighing 198 pounds... KAI ZENITH!
(Crowd cheers.)
"And his
opponent... from Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada... weighing 248 pounds... JAAAAAAACK
LUUUUUUMBERRRRR!"
The Columbia Coliseum
erupted once more as Jack raised a fist toward the crowd.
Honest Abe called
both men to the center of the ring for final instructions.
They exchanged a
respectful nod before returning to their corners.
Honest Abe looked
from Jack Lumber...
...to Kai Zenith...
...and called for the
opening bell.
With a trip to the
Convergent Championship Tournament Final on the line, both competitors wasted
no time showing why they had earned their place in the semifinals.
Jack Lumber relied on
his trademark power from the opening bell, rocking Kai Zenith with stiff
uppercuts before planting him twice with his devastating TIMMMMMBEEERRRRR
maneuver during the opening minutes. Kai, however, answered every heavy blow
with blistering speed, peppering Jack with spinning heel kicks, roundhouse
kicks, and lightning-fast combinations that kept the former Convergent Champion
from taking complete control.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "These two couldn't be more different
stylistically. Jack wants to slow this match down and make every strike
count."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Kai knows that. He's staying on the move because
standing still against Jack Lumber is a dangerous proposition."
The momentum
continued to swing back and forth.
Jack repeatedly
punished Kai with crushing Atomic Drops, Yukon Bodyslams, and a thunderous
Spear, while Kai answered with spectacular aerial offense, including a
breathtaking Suicide Dive that sent Jack tumbling to the arena floor. Jack
barely beat Honest Abe's count back into the ring at eight before the action
resumed.
Kai gradually found
his rhythm midway through the contest.
A devastating PK
and Standing Moonsault Knees combination earned the first serious near fall
against Jack, and later, a pair of breathtaking Green Tea Plunge Running
Corkscrew Shooting Star Presses nearly shifted the entire complexion of the
match.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Kai Zenith is beginning to wear Jack Lumber
down!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "This is where conditioning becomes just as
important as strength."
Jack refused to stay
down.
Each time Kai
appeared ready to seize control, Jack battled back with thunderous chops and
powerful counters, surviving another near fall after Kai connected with his
spectacular Ultima Weapon Shooting Star Knee Drop.
As the match entered
its closing moments, both men were visibly exhausted.
Kai ducked a charging
Jack Lumber at the last possible second.
Jack's momentum
carried him directly into Honest Abe, sending the referee crashing
awkwardly to the canvas.
The impact also
staggered Jack, who stumbled into the ropes while trying to regain his balance.
Kai began pushing
himself back to his feet...
...when a hooded
figure suddenly slid into the ring from the far side.
The Columbia Coliseum
erupted.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "WAIT A MINUTE! THAT'S R.A.M. SHORTAGE!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "What in the world is he doing out here?!"
Before Kai could even
react, R.A.M. Shortage exploded forward and leveled him with a vicious
running strike.
Just as quickly as he
had appeared, R.A.M. rolled out of the ring and disappeared beneath the apron.
Jack, still
recovering from the collision with the referee, never saw him.
Neither did Honest
Abe.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Jack never saw a thing!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Neither did the referee! This is
unbelievable!"
Kai struggled back to
his feet, dazed and unaware of what had just happened behind him.
Seeing only an
opportunity, Jack charged forward.
TIMMMMMBEEERRRRR!
The thunderous impact
flattened Kai in the center of the ring.
Jack instinctively
hooked the leg as Honest Abe slowly crawled into position.
One...
Two...
Three!
The bell rang.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Jack Lumber is headed to the Convergent
Championship Tournament Final!"
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Here is your winner... and advancing to the Convergent Championship
Tournament Final... JACK LUMBER!"
Jack climbed the
turnbuckles, saluting the fans as the Columbia Coliseum roared its approval.
Across the ring, Kai sat in the corner, disappointed but more confused than
angry as he tried to piece together the chaotic closing moments.
Suddenly, the arena
lights dimmed.
The Omegatron
flickered to life.
A replay from an
alternate camera angle rolled across the massive screen.
The entire arena
watched as Jack accidentally collided with Honest Abe...
...R.A.M. Shortage
slid into the ring...
...flattened Kai with
the unseen attack...
...and disappeared
before Jack even turned around.
A collective gasp
swept through the Columbia Coliseum.
Jack stopped
celebrating.
His smile vanished as
he stared up at the screen in disbelief.
Kai slowly rose to
his feet, watching the replay with growing frustration before looking directly
at Jack.
Jack immediately
shook his head.
"I didn't see
him."
Kai nodded once.
He believed him.
Instead of
confronting Jack, Kai turned his attention toward the entranceway where R.A.M.
had disappeared moments earlier.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Jack Lumber earned his victory in this
tournament... but R.A.M. Shortage has cast a shadow over it."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Kai Zenith knows Jack didn't ask for this. The
real question now is... why did R.A.M. Shortage make sure Kai never had a fair
chance to finish this match?"
Jack remained in the
ring, still looking toward the replay on the Omegatron as the realization
settled over him that someone had tainted one of the biggest victories of his
career.
The broadcast shifted
backstage where Candace Hart stood with the reigning HCW Television
Champion, The Rich Athlete, and his manager, Ruth Heartless.
Draped over the champion's shoulder was the HCW Television Championship, while
Ruth wore her trademark confident smirk.
Before the interview, Candace was told to change her blazer to something
more regal – befitting an environment for such a performer as himself.
Candace Hart: "Ladies and
gentlemen, please welcome my guests at this time... the HCW Television
Champion, The Rich Athlete, accompanied by Ruth Heartless."
Candace turned toward
the champion.
Candace Hart: "In just a few
moments, you'll defend the HCW Television Championship against Caleb Wilde.
Caleb has called tonight the biggest opportunity of his career."
The Rich Athlete let
out a laugh.
Not a chuckle.
A full,
self-satisfied laugh.
The Rich Athlete: "WHOOOO!"
He pointed at
Candace.
The Rich Athlete: "Of course it
is!"
He spread his arms
wide.
The Rich Athlete: "Every time
somebody steps into the ring with The Rich Athlete, it's the biggest night of
their life!"
He looked directly
into the camera.
The Rich Athlete: "You know
why?"
He tapped the
championship.
The Rich Athlete: "Because
championships don't make me..."
He raised the title
high.
The Rich Athlete: "I make
championships!"
Ruth smiled knowingly
but said nothing.
The Rich Athlete: "Caleb Wilde is
a good athlete."
He shrugged
dismissively.
The Rich Athlete: "He's got
heart."
"He's got
determination."
"But when that
bell rings..."
He smirked.
"...heart
doesn't buy Rolexes."
"It doesn't buy
private jets."
"And it sure
doesn't buy THIS!"
He slapped the
Television Championship.
The crowd inside the
arena could be heard booing through the monitor.
Candace Hart: "Ruth, you've
managed some of the most successful competitors in HCW. What's your assessment
of Caleb Wilde?"
Ruth folded her
hands.
Ruth Heartless: "Caleb Wilde
has earned this opportunity."
She paused.
"But earning an
opportunity..."
"...and
defeating greatness..."
"...are two
entirely different things."
She glanced toward
her client.
Ruth Heartless: I've watched
champions come and go."
"The Rich
Athlete isn't merely a champion."
"He's the
standard every Television Champion will be measured against."
The Rich Athlete
smiled broadly.
The Rich Athlete: "Now you're
talking."
He turned back to the
camera.
The Rich Athlete: "You see these
people?"
He pointed toward the
arena.
"They paid to
see excellence."
"They paid to
see style."
"They paid to
see the limousine-riding..."
He began counting on
his fingers.
"...designer
suit-wearing..."
"...champagne-sipping..."
"...high
society-living..."
"...Television
Champion of the world!"
He threw both arms
into the air.
The Rich Athlete: "WHOOOO!"
The boos from the
arena grew even louder.
Candace Hart: "Any final
words for Caleb Wilde?"
The Rich Athlete's
smile slowly faded into a confident stare.
The Rich Athlete: "Caleb..."
"You've had a
nice run."
"You've worked
hard."
"And
tonight..."
He stepped closer to
the camera.
"...you're going
to find out there's a difference between being good..."
"...and being
legendary."
He adjusted the title
one final time.
The Rich Athlete: "When this
night is over..."
"...you're going
to shake my hand..."
"...you're going
to thank me for the opportunity..."
"...and you're
going to tell everyone..."
"...you shared a
ring with the greatest Television Champion this company has ever seen."
He flashed one last
grin.
The Rich Athlete: "WHOOOO!"
Ruth Heartless smiled
as the champion confidently walked out of frame, championship over his
shoulder.
Candace turned back
toward the camera.
Candace Hart: "The Rich
Athlete has never lacked confidence, but Caleb Wilde has waited a long time for
this opportunity. We'll find out if tonight becomes the biggest upset of the
year when we return for our Television Championship main event."
(Commercial Break)
(Return from
Commercial)
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Welcome back to HCW Live Wire! Tonight has
delivered everything you could ask for—hard-fought competition, emotional
moments, and a controversial conclusion to our Convergent Championship
Tournament semifinal."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Jack Lumber is headed to tomorrow night's
tournament final, but nobody's talking about the victory. They're talking about
R.A.M. Shortage sticking his nose where it didn't belong."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "We'll see how that situation unfolds on Voltage,
but right now it's time for our featured attraction."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "The HCW Television Championship is on the
line."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Caleb Wilde has earned the opportunity of a
lifetime. Standing in his way is one of the most arrogant—and one of the most
successful—Television Champions we've ever seen."
The arena lights
brightened as an energetic rock anthem blasted through the Columbia Coliseum. Caleb
Wilde emerged onto the stage to a tremendous ovation, pausing only long
enough to soak in the atmosphere before confidently making his way toward the
ring.
Caleb slapped hands
with fans lining the entrance aisle, smiling as chants of his name echoed
throughout the building.
"CALEB! CALEB!
CALEB!"
He climbed onto the
apron, stepped through the ropes, and acknowledged each side of the arena
before settling into his corner, his eyes never leaving the entranceway.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "What an opportunity for Caleb Wilde. He's worked
tirelessly for this moment, and tonight he gets his first chance to capture
championship gold in Heritage Championship Wrestling."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "The pressure is enormous, Mike. Challenging for a
title is one thing. Defeating The Rich Athlete is something else
entirely."
The arena suddenly
went dark.
A lone spotlight
illuminated the entrance as the opening notes of the champion's extravagant
theme echoed through the Coliseum.
Designer-robed and
wearing a self-assured grin, The Rich Athlete stepped onto the stage
with the HCW Television Championship draped proudly over one shoulder.
Walking a step behind him was Ruth Heartless, who surveyed the booing
crowd with complete indifference.
The Rich Athlete
slowly turned in a full circle, admiring himself before raising the
championship high above his head.
"WHOOOO!"
The crowd answered
with a deafening chorus of boos.
Taking his time, the
champion strutted down the entrance ramp, occasionally stopping to straighten
his robe or polish the faceplate of the championship with the sleeve of his
jacket as if it deserved to shine as brightly as he believed he did.
Ruth Heartless
remained close behind, wearing a confident smile as she followed the champion
to ringside.
The Rich Athlete
ascended the steel steps with deliberate confidence before stepping through the
ropes. Once inside the ring, he climbed the nearest turnbuckle, raised the
championship high once more, and basked in the hostile reaction from the
Columbia faithful.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "There may not be a more polarizing champion in HCW
than The Rich Athlete."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Love him or hate him, the man backs up every word
that comes out of his mouth. That's why he's still the Television
Champion."
With both competitors
standing in opposite corners, Tony "Echo" Calibur stepped
confidently to the center of the ring.
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Ladies and gentlemen... the following contest is scheduled for one
fall... and it is for the HCW Television Championship!"
The crowd erupted.
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Introducing first... the challenger! From Asheville, North Carolina...
weighing 218 pounds... CALEB WILDE!"
The fans cheered
loudly as Caleb raised a fist in acknowledgment.
Tony then turned
toward the opposite corner.
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"And his opponent... accompanied to the ring by Ruth Heartless...
from Charlotte, North Carolina... weighing 241 pounds... he is the reigning and
defending... HCW Television Champion... THE RICH ATHLETE!"
The Rich Athlete
confidently removed the championship from his shoulder, held it high for the
crowd to see, then handed it to the referee with an unmistakable smirk before
exchanging a few final words with Ruth Heartless.
Fast Count Frank
displayed the Television Championship to all four sides of the arena before
handing it to the timekeeper.
He called both
competitors to the center of the ring for final instructions.
Caleb Wilde remained
focused.
The Rich Athlete
flashed a smug grin.
Both men returned to
their corners.
Fast Count Frank
looked first to the challenger...
...then to the
champion...
...and signaled for
the opening bell.
The Columbia Coliseum
buzzed with anticipation as the opening bell sounded.
Caleb Wilde
immediately took the fight to the champion, but The Rich Athlete
answered with the confidence of a man who believed the championship belonged
around his waist forever. A crushing Seven-Figure Suplex reminded the
challenger exactly why the reigning Television Champion had become one of HCW's
most decorated competitors.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "The Rich Athlete wasting absolutely no time
establishing control."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "That's what champions do. You don't give
challengers confidence."
The Rich Athlete
slowed the pace with his trademark technical offense, repeatedly targeting
Caleb's legs with the Luxurious Leglock and a vicious Shin Breaker
before dropping a perfectly placed Million Dollar Kneedrop. Caleb
refused to wilt under the pressure, answering with a powerful Wheel Barrel
Suplex and later driving the champion spine-first into the turnbuckles with a
thunderous Buckle Power Bomb.
Every time Caleb
built momentum, however, the champion had an answer.
The Rich Athlete
wrapped Caleb's leg in another Luxurious Leglock, wrenching backward
with everything he had as the challenger fought through the pain and clawed his
way to the bottom rope.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Caleb Wilde refusing to give up!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "He's tough, but how much punishment can that leg
take?"
The champion broke
the hold with exaggerated reluctance before flashing his trademark grin toward
the booing crowd.
Moments later...
WHOOOO!
The Rich Athlete's
signature battle cry echoed throughout the arena as he delivered a thunderous Pectoral
Chop that reverberated through the Columbia Coliseum. Caleb staggered
backward but somehow kicked out of the ensuing cover, drawing another roar from
the fans.
The challenger
battled back.
A Buckle Power
Bomb...
A series of standing
dropkicks...
Even reversing a pair
of Seven-Figure Suplex attempts.
The momentum began
shifting toward Caleb Wilde.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Caleb Wilde is beginning to believe!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "This is getting uncomfortable for the
champion."
Outside the ring, Ruth
Heartless sensed the momentum changing.
She began shouting
toward Caleb, distracting him just long enough for The Rich Athlete to regain
his composure.
Ruth Heartless: "You'll never
be champion! Never!"
The distraction
lasted only a moment, but it was enough.
The Rich Athlete
capitalized with another crushing Seven-Figure Suplex, only for Caleb to
once again refuse to stay down.
The Columbia faithful
rallied behind the challenger.
"CALEB! CALEB!
CALEB!"
The challenger
answered with yet another standing dropkick that rocked the champion.
The Rich Athlete
stumbled backward into the ropes...
...then smiled.
Not because he had an
answer.
Because he had a
plan.
As Caleb charged
forward, The Rich Athlete sidestepped him, causing Caleb to stumble chest-first
into the turnbuckles.
The champion seized
the opening.
WHOOOO!
Another blistering Pectoral
Chop echoed through the arena.
Caleb collapsed to
one knee.
The Rich Athlete
quickly hooked both legs for the cover...
...but as Fast
Count Frank slid into position...
...the champion
subtly draped both boots across the middle rope for extra leverage.
The Columbia crowd
erupted in boos.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "He's got his feet on the ropes!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Frank can't see it!"
Ruth Heartless stood
on the opposite side of the ring, discreetly drawing the referee's attention
away from the champion's feet just long enough for the count.
One...
Two...
Three!
The bell rang.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "No! Come on!"
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "That's veteran instinct! The Rich Athlete found a
way!"
Fast Count Frank
called for the bell, completely unaware of the illegal leverage.
Tony "Echo"
Calibur:
"Here is your winner... and STILL HCW Television Champion... THE
RICH ATHLETE!"
The champion
immediately rolled out of the ring, snatching the Television Championship from
the timekeeper before Fast Count Frank could notice anything unusual.
He climbed onto the
apron, raised the title high above his head, and shouted once more...
"WHOOOO!"
The boos rained down
from every corner of the Columbia Coliseum.
Inside the ring,
Caleb Wilde sat against the bottom turnbuckle, exhausted and disappointed.
Replays on the Omegatron quickly exposed The Rich Athlete's boots planted
firmly on the middle rope during the deciding pinfall, drawing another chorus
of outrage from the crowd.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Caleb Wilde had this championship match stolen
from him. The Rich Athlete retained—but not because he was the better man
tonight."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "You can complain all you want, Mike, but
championships aren't won by almosts. The Rich Athlete used every ounce of
experience he had, and at the end of the night he's still wearing the
gold."
The Rich Athlete
never looked back.
With Ruth Heartless
applauding proudly beside him, the champion strutted backward up the entrance
ramp, Television Championship held high over his head as Live Wire faded off
the air with Caleb Wilde watching from the ring, knowing he had come agonizingly
close to his first championship.
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Before we leave you tonight, let's take one final
look at everything that happened here on HCW Live Wire."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "It was a night full of incredible action,
unforgettable moments, and more than a little controversy."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Dex Ledger opened the evening with an impressive
victory over Ghee Buttersnaps, while Cassius Onyx punched his ticket to
tomorrow night's Convergent Championship Tournament Final with a hard-fought
win over Angus McRae."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Dominic Marconi reminded everyone exactly why he's
the HCW World Champion, and Steel Justice continued building momentum with a
count-out victory over the Muscles Duo."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Nyx Evermore and Blair Kensington then delivered
an outstanding thirty-minute classic that ended in a time-limit draw, earning
the respect of everyone inside the Columbia Coliseum."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Then came the biggest controversy of the night.
Jack Lumber advanced to the tournament final, but only after R.A.M. Shortage
secretly inserted himself into the match against Kai Zenith. Jack never saw it,
Kai never saw it, and neither did Honest Abe until the replay exposed
everything."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "And in our main event, The Rich Athlete retained
the HCW Television Championship over Caleb Wilde. Replay clearly showed the
champion using the ropes for leverage during the deciding pinfall, but Fast
Count Frank never caught it."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "Call it controversial if you want, Mike. I call it
another successful title defense."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "Tomorrow night on HCW Voltage, Jack Lumber and
Cassius Onyx will meet in the Convergent Championship Tournament Final with a
championship opportunity against Abaddon hanging in the balance."
Johnny "the
Hammer" Harris: "After everything we saw tonight, I wouldn't bet on
anything."
Mike "the
Voice" Johnson: "For Johnny 'the Hammer' Harris, I'm Mike 'the
Voice' Johnson thanking you for spending your Saturday night with us. We'll see
you tomorrow night for HCW Voltage. Good night, everyone!"
The camera pulled
back to a wide shot of the Columbia Coliseum as fans continued cheering and
discussing the night's events. The HCW Live Wire logo filled the screen
before the broadcast faded to black.
