Hello wrestling fans
and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.
Shockwave bursts onto
the screen with flashing silver-and-blue graphics as the camera flies through
the packed ESGP Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Fans are already
standing, signs waving throughout the arena as silver pyrotechnics explode across
the stage.
The camera settles at
ringside with J.R. Holland and Clarkus 'C.K.' Kentus.
J.R. Holland: “Welcome everyone to
HCW Shockwave. We are live tonight from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and we
have an enormous night ahead of us. Convergent Champion Jack Lumber returns
from NPCW after walking directly into the war brewing around Mordred and Camelot,
Adrian Cipher and Jet Moreno meet once again after Cipher’s increasingly
disturbing behavior in recent weeks, and our main event will see Hardcore
Champion Jax Brenner defend his championship against the unpredictable Colonel
Samuel Flagg under Boot Camp Rules.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Unpredictable? That man is a patriot under siege, J.R. There’s a difference.”
J.R. Holland: “I’m not sure anyone
besides Colonel Flagg knows what Colonel Flagg actually is at this point.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“That’s because the enemy’s everywhere.”
J.R. pauses and
stares at him.
J.R. Holland: “And somehow you’ve
already become impossible less than two minutes into the show.”
The crowd laughs as
C.K. smirks.
J.R. Holland: “But we begin
tonight with another edition of Proving Grounds, and this has become one of the
most important developments in HCW all year long.”
Graphics flash across
the screen highlighting recent Proving Grounds competitors.
J.R. Holland: “This isn’t just
enhancement competition. This isn’t simply a debut. Proving Grounds has become
an opportunity for new talent to prove they belong in HCW against established
members of this roster.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Or prove they don’t.”
J.R. Holland: “We’ve already seen
competitors change their careers through these opportunities. Some rise
immediately. Some collapse under the pressure. But every single debut changes
the locker room because every newcomer represents another threat to somebody’s
position.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Exactly. Which is why veterans should stop welcoming these people and start
treating them like invaders.”
A funky upbeat groove
suddenly hits the speakers to a strong crowd reaction.
Ghee Buttersnaps
bounces out onto the stage clapping along with the fans as Winston-Salem
erupts.
J.R. Holland: “And tonight, Ghee
Buttersnaps represents the established side of HCW.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Poor guy. Ghee always looks so happy until somebody folds him in half.”
Ghee points toward
the crowd and slaps hands on the way to the ring, keeping the energy high
before stepping through the ropes.
Then the mood
changes.
The arena lighting
darkens slightly as a heavy industrial rhythm pounds through the Coliseum.
Cassius Onyx steps
onto the stage.
No smile.
No gestures.
No theatrics.
Just a cold stare
toward the ring.
The crowd boos
immediately.
J.R. Holland: “And here comes the
man attempting to earn his place tonight. Cassius Onyx making his HCW debut.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Now THAT looks like somebody who understands what Proving Grounds means.”
Cassius slowly cracks
his neck as he walks toward the ring.
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“That man isn’t here looking for acceptance. He’s here looking for a contract
and a victim.”
Ghee’s smile fades as
Cassius enters the ring and immediately backs into his corner, eyes locked
forward.
The bell sounds.
Cassius explodes
across the ring with shocking force, nearly driving Ghee through the canvas
with a brutal spinebuster that instantly changes the atmosphere of the match.
The crowd gasps as Cassius drags him back up and begins hammering him with
heavy shots to the back and shoulders.
J.R. Holland: “Cassius Onyx
wasting absolutely no time here tonight.”
Ghee manages to
create separation with a huge back body drop that finally gets the crowd
roaring, then follows with quick bursts of offense that briefly stagger the
newcomer. Every time momentum starts swinging toward Ghee, the audience comes
alive behind him.
But Cassius keeps
shutting the door.
A crushing powerbomb.
A violent shoulder
block.
Another spinebuster.
Every move feels
deliberate and heavy, as if Cassius is trying to send a message with every
impact.
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“You know what I like about this kid? No wasted motion. No showing off. He’s
treating this like survival.”
J.R. Holland: “He’s also learning
very quickly that Ghee Buttersnaps is tougher than people give him credit for.”
Ghee refuses to stay
down, surviving repeated pin attempts while continuing to fire back with bursts
of energy that keep the crowd invested deep into the match. A late POWER ARM
BAR nearly swings momentum completely, forcing Cassius to scramble and regroup
for the first time all night.
The frustration
finally begins showing on Cassius’ face.
Then he snaps.
Cassius catches Ghee
charging forward and nearly cuts him in half with the Iron Barrage ripcord
shoulder block.
The crowd groans
loudly.
Cassius immediately
hooks the leg.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
WINNER: Cassius Onyx
via pinfall after the Iron Barrage (Ripcord Shoulder Block)
J.R. Holland: “Cassius Onyx
survives Proving Grounds and earns a massive victory in his HCW debut.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“That wasn’t survival, J.R. That was a warning shot.”
Cassius rises slowly
as the referee raises his hand. He barely acknowledges the reaction around him,
glaring down at Ghee Buttersnaps before stepping out of the ring.
There is no
celebration.
Only quiet intensity.
J.R. Holland: “A very impressive
debut tonight for Cassius Onyx, but I don’t think anyone watching this believes
we’ve seen the full picture yet.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Good. HCW needs more dangerous people.”
Cassius backs slowly
up the aisle, never taking his eyes off the ring as Shockwave heads to
commercial break.
Shockwave returns
from commercial with a wide shot of the ESGP Coliseum before the camera
transitions to a quieter area backstage.
A simple black set
has been arranged near the interview area with two chairs positioned beneath
silver-and-blue Shockwave lighting.
Seated already is Ryan
Mercer.
Across from her sits Jack
Lumber.
The Convergent
Championship rests on the table in between them. There’s still a visible cut
near his lip from the confrontation in Camelot several nights earlier.
The crowd watching on
the arena screens applauds loudly.
Ryan Mercer: “Jack, thank you for
joining me tonight.”
Jack nods once.
Ryan Mercer: “Last week in NPCW,
what was supposed to be a confrontation with Mordred quickly turned into
something much larger. You stood face-to-face not only with Mordred and Sir
Agravaine, but with Frankenstein’s Monster, the Dread Knights, and eventually
the Champions of Camelot themselves.”
A mixed reaction
rolls through the crowd at the mention of the various names.
Ryan Mercer: “This will be your
first defense of the Convergent Championship.
But after what happened in Camelot… do you now realize this situation
may be bigger than simply one title defense?”
Jack leans back
slightly, thinking before answering.
Jack Lumber: “Yeah.”
The crowd quiets
immediately.
Jack Lumber: “I knew Mordred was
dangerous before I ever walked into Camelot.”
Jack places his hand
on the title.
Jack Lumber: “But being there…
standing in the middle of all that…”
He pauses briefly.
Jack Lumber: “You start
understanding real quick that Camelot doesn’t work like anywhere else.”
(Voice over from
Commentary)
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“That might be the smartest thing anybody’s said about that place.”
J.R. Holland: “There is definitely
a different atmosphere surrounding everything connected to Mordred.”
Jack Lumber: “You can feel it.”
Ryan listens
carefully as Jack continues.
Jack Lumber: “Everybody there’s
carrying something. Grudges. Wars. History. Pride. Every room feels like it’s
one bad moment away from exploding.”
He glances over
briefly at the Convergent Championship.
Jack Lumber: “And the second I
walked through that door with this title…”
Jack taps the
faceplate once.
Jack Lumber: “…I became part of
it.”
The crowd applauds.
Ryan Mercer: “You also had a
moment with Frankenstein’s Monster before your confrontation with Mordred.”
Another reaction from
the crowd.
Ryan Mercer: “What was going
through your mind there?”
Jack exhales slowly.
Jack Lumber: “Honestly?”
A slight grin
appears.
Jack Lumber: “That’s a big man.”
The crowd laughs
lightly.
Jack Lumber: “But that wasn’t
what stuck with me.”
Jack’s expression
settles again.
Jack Lumber: “It was the look.”
Ryan Mercer: “The look?”
Jack Lumber: “Champions know
champions.”
The crowd responds
positively to the line.
Jack Lumber: “Didn’t matter what
world we came from. Didn’t matter who was standing around us. For a second, it
was just two guys holding gold and measuring each other.”
(Voice over from
commentary)
J.R. Holland: “That’s actually a
fascinating way to describe that moment.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Or terrifying.”
Ryan shifts slightly
in her chair.
Ryan Mercer: “Then came the
ambush.”
The mood changes
immediately.
Ryan Mercer: “Mordred’s forces
attacked you in the ring. Sir Agravaine. The Dread Knights. And eventually the
Champions of Camelot came to your defense.”
Jack nods once.
Ryan Mercer: “Did Mordred prove
your point… or his?”
That question draws a
murmur from the crowd.
Jack thinks for a
moment before answering.
Jack Lumber: “Mine.”
A loud reaction.
Jack Lumber: “Mordred wants
everybody believing the ending’s already written.”
Jack leans forward
slightly now.
Jack Lumber: “That darkness wins
because it sounds confident.”
The crowd applauds
again.
Jack Lumber: “But if you need
four men to jump somebody before the fight even starts…”
Jack shakes his head.
Jack Lumber: “That tells me all I
need to know.”
(Voice over from
commentary):
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Or maybe it tells you Mordred likes efficiency.”
J.R. Holland: “I don’t think
ambushes qualify as efficiency.”
Ryan nods toward
Jack.
Ryan Mercer: “At The Long Night,
you defend the Convergent Championship against Mordred. But before that, you’ll
return to NPCW again on May 29th for a major tag team match.”
Jack nods.
Ryan Mercer: “Knowing what’s
waiting for you there… why keep going back?”
Jack’s answer comes
immediately.
Jack Lumber: “Because I said I
would.”
The crowd cheers.
Jack Lumber: “This title was
built for worlds colliding.”
He lifts the
championship slightly.
Jack Lumber: “So if somebody from
another world wants to take it from me…”
Jack’s eyes narrow
slightly.
Jack Lumber: “…then they better
be ready to fight for it.”
Another loud
reaction.
Ryan smiles slightly.
Ryan Mercer: “Last week in
Camelot, you said you were ‘coming with the axe.’”
The crowd cheers at
the callback.
Ryan Mercer: “Do you still feel
that way after everything that happened?”
Jack stands slowly
from his chair.
The crowd rises with
him.
Jack settles the
Convergent Championship across his shoulder and looks directly into the camera.
Jack Lumber: “Ryan…”
A brief pause.
Jack Lumber: “I’m coming with the
axe.”
The crowd erupts.
Jack turns and walks
off the set as Shockwave cuts back to the arena.
Back inside the ESGP
Coliseum, the energy shifts immediately as fast-paced electronic guitar blasts
through the arena speakers.
Jet Moreno bursts
onto the stage to a strong ovation from the Winston-Salem crowd.
Jet sprints side to
side across the stage before pointing toward the ring, his energy immediately
pulling the audience into the moment.
J.R. Holland: “Jet Moreno looking
for redemption tonight after his first encounter with Adrian Cipher.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Redemption? Jet needs survival, J.R. Adrian Cipher has stopped playing games
lately.”
Jet launches himself
onto the apron and springboards cleanly into the ring as the crowd cheers
loudly.
The lights dim
slightly.
Then come the
violins.
A slow, unsettling
instrumental echoes throughout the Coliseum as Adrian Cipher steps onto the
stage dressed in dark silver and black.
No emotion.
No wasted motion.
Only cold focus.
J.R. Holland: “There is something
different about Adrian Cipher recently. The arrogance was always there, but
now…”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Now he’s honest.”
Adrian slowly removes
his gloves while staring directly at Jet Moreno in the ring.
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“You know what Adrian finally realized? Flashy entrances don’t matter. Crowd
reactions don’t matter. Winning matters.”
Jet paces impatiently
inside the ring as Adrian enters calmly and backs into the corner.
The bell sounds.
The bell sounded and Jet
Moreno came flying out of the corner like he was trying to win the match before
Adrian Cipher could even breathe. Jet’s speed immediately put the crowd behind
him as he caught Cipher high on the side of the head with a sharp step-up
enzuigiri that snapped Adrian backward and sent Winston-Salem into a roar.
For a split second,
it looked like Jet had found the exact opening he needed.
Then Adrian Cipher
smiled.
Not a grin.
Not arrogance.
Recognition.
Cipher slowed the
pace down almost immediately after that, catching Jet on the next exchange and
dragging him abruptly into a grounded hold before transitioning smoothly into
another. Every time Jet created space, Adrian erased it. Every time Jet tried to
accelerate, Cipher forced him to stop.
J.R. Holland: “This is exactly the
type of pace Adrian Cipher wants.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Because Adrian understands something Jet doesn’t. Flying around is fun until
somebody grabs hold of you.”
Jet kept fighting
through it, using his athleticism to create bursts of momentum whenever he
could. A quick springboard escape brought the crowd back to life, and for a
moment Jet looked ready to regain control of the match entirely.
But Adrian wasn’t
wrestling to entertain the audience anymore.
He was dissecting
somebody.
Cipher’s offense
became increasingly vicious as the match continued, twisting Jet into painful
holds and hybrid submissions that looked designed less to finish the contest
and more to remove pieces of Jet Moreno one limb at a time. The crowd groaned
repeatedly as Adrian targeted the shoulder, wrist, and upper arm whenever Jet
tried to build momentum.
Jet fired back
anyway.
That refusal only
seemed to make Adrian colder.
A desperate attempt
at another fast-paced attack finally gave Cipher the opening he’d been waiting
for. Adrian caught Jet in transition, dragged him violently to the mat, and
suddenly twisted himself into the Cremation Lily Double Omoplata & Figure Four
Stump Puller.
Jet screamed
instantly.
The crowd erupted
trying to rally him as Adrian leaned backward with a terrifying calmness on his
face, wrenching the hold tighter while Jet clawed desperately toward the ropes.
J.R. Holland: “Jet Moreno is
trapped here!”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“That’s it. Tear him apart.”
Jet stretched with
everything he had left, fingertips scraping at the canvas as the fans tried to
will him forward, but Adrian kept dragging him back toward the center of the
ring.
The pain finally
became too much.
Jet tapped.
The bell rang
immediately.
WINNER: Adrian Cipher
via submission with the Cremation Lily Double Omoplata & Figure Four Stump
Puller
A heavy mixture of
boos and stunned silence rolled through the ESGP Coliseum as Adrian slowly
released the hold and rose to his feet.
J.R. Holland: “Adrian Cipher just
forced Jet Moreno to submit.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Not beat him. Broke him.”
Jet rolled painfully
toward the ropes clutching his shoulder while Adrian stood over him breathing
calmly, almost emotionless. There was no celebration. No grand pose. Just quiet
satisfaction.
J.R. Holland: “That may have been
the most dangerous Adrian Cipher has looked since arriving in HCW.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Because now he understands exactly who he is.”
Before leaving the
ring, Adrian slowly knelt beside Jet near the ropes and whispered something
into his ear that the cameras couldn’t pick up. The crowd booed loudly as
Cipher stood back up and calmly exited the ring without another glance behind
him.
Jet remained near the
ropes trying to recover as Shockwave faded to commercial break.
Shockwave returned
from commercial to a noticeably more serious atmosphere inside the ESGP
Coliseum.
The crowd buzzed as Iosef
Koloff stepped onto the stage under cold red lighting, his expression
unreadable as he marched toward the ring without acknowledging anyone around
him.
J.R. Holland: “Over the last
several weeks, Iosef Koloff has become increasingly aggressive inside the
ring.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Aggressive? He’s focused. Big difference.”
Koloff climbed into
the ring and slowly removed his gloves while staring toward the entranceway.
Then came the
response from the crowd.
Leopold Dilg emerged
to a solid ovation, quickly marching toward the ring with visible determination
already written across his face.
J.R. Holland: “Leopold Dilg knows
exactly what kind of fight this is going to become.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Then he should’ve stayed backstage.”
The bell rang and the
match immediately turned physical.
Neither man wasted
time testing the waters as Leopold fired off a series of suplexes early that
briefly stunned Koloff and forced him backward toward the ropes. The
Winston-Salem crowd came alive watching Dilg repeatedly match Koloff’s power
exchange for exchange.
J.R. Holland: “Leopold Dilg came
prepared tonight.”
Koloff answered by
slowing the pace down with grinding offense, repeatedly cutting Leopold off
with forearms, stomps, and punishing strikes designed to wear him down over
time. Every time Dilg seemed ready to build momentum, Koloff dragged him back
into a slower, uglier fight.
The longer the match
continued, the more it became a battle of endurance.
Leopold repeatedly
answered Koloff’s offense with explosive suplex variations that kept the crowd
behind him, while Koloff continued targeting the neck and back with
increasingly brutal precision.
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“This is what happens when two stubborn men refuse to stay down.”
A huge Fisherman
Suplex from Dilg nearly shifted the match entirely, forcing Koloff to scramble
and regroup for the first time all contest. The crowd sensed the opening
immediately and rallied hard behind Leopold as he pressed forward trying to
finally put Koloff away.
But Koloff weathered
the storm.
And eventually, he
created the one opening he needed.
Leopold charged
forward looking for another throw, but Koloff caught him mid-transition and
drove him violently into the mat with the Hostile Takeover.
The impact silenced
the arena for a split second.
Koloff hooked the leg
tightly.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
J.R. Holland: “A hard-fought
victory tonight for Iosef Koloff with the Hostile Takeover.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“That’s the difference between surviving and finishing somebody.”
WINNER: Iosef Koloff
via pinfall after the Hostile Takeover
Koloff rose slowly
after the match, breathing heavily while Leopold remained down near center ring
trying to recover.
At first, it looked
like the match was over.
Then the crowd began
booing.
A large figure
emerged from the crowd
.
Krueger Kruschchev.
The atmosphere inside
the building changed immediately.
J.R. Holland: “Wait a minute…Who
the hell is THAT?!”
Krueger marched to
the ring without expression as Koloff watched calmly from inside the ropes.
Leopold tried pulling
himself back up—
and Krueger
immediately blasted him from behind with a crushing forearm to the back of the
head.
The crowd erupted
with boos.
Koloff didn’t stop
it.
He joined it.
The two men began
stomping Leopold down near the ropes while officials screamed from ringside.
J.R. Holland: “This is
unnecessary!”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“No, this is a message. Krueger Kruschev
is his name and pain and suffering is his game.”
Krueger dragged
Leopold back to his feet while Koloff hammered him with repeated forearms
before planting him back to the canvas with another Hostile Takeover.
The crowd booed
furiously as Ryan Mercer cautiously approached ringside with a microphone once
the attack finally stopped.
Koloff slowly turned
toward her while Krueger stood looming silently beside him.
Ryan Mercer: “Iosef… what was the
purpose of this?”
Koloff calmly
adjusted his wrist tape before answering.
Iosef Koloff: “Weakness survives
because people allow it to survive.”
The crowd booed
loudly.
Iosef Koloff: “Tonight… permission
was revoked.”
Ryan glanced uneasily
toward Krueger.
Ryan Mercer: “And Krueger
Kruschchev?”
Koloff looked toward
the massive enforcer standing beside him.
Iosef Koloff: “Krueger understands
what HCW is becoming.”
A cold pause
followed.
Iosef Koloff: “And what must be
done to correct it.”
Krueger stepped
forward slightly as the crowd continued booing.
Koloff stared
directly into the camera.
Iosef Koloff: “Discipline is
coming.”
Without another word,
the two men walked away from the ring together while officials checked on
Leopold Dilg and Shockwave headed to another commercial break.
Shockwave returned
from commercial with the Winston-Salem crowd still buzzing from the chaos
surrounding Iosef Koloff and Krueger Kruschchev moments earlier.
Backstage, Ryan
Mercer stood beside the HCW logo wall with a microphone in hand.
Next to her stood the
HCW Hardcore Champion, Jax Brenner.
The Hardcore
Championship rested over Jax’s shoulder while the crowd inside the arena
cheered loudly at the sight of the champion.
Ryan Mercer: “Jax, in just a few
moments, you defend the Hardcore Championship against Colonel Samuel Flagg
under Boot Camp Rules.”
Jax nodded once.
Ryan Mercer: “Now, most
challengers approach title matches looking to prove themselves. Colonel Flagg…”
Ryan paused
carefully.
Ryan Mercer: “…seems more
interested in proving conspiracies.”
A small grin crossed
Jax’s face as the crowd laughed.
Jax Brenner: “Yeah. I noticed.”
The audience popped
lightly.
Ryan Mercer: “You’ve faced
violent men before. You’ve faced unstable men before. But Colonel Flagg seems
unpredictable in a very different way.”
Jax adjusted the
title slightly on his shoulder.
Jax Brenner: “That’s what makes
him dangerous.”
The crowd quieted
slightly at the answer.
Jax Brenner: “A guy like Flagg
doesn’t care if he gets hurt. Doesn’t care if he loses teeth. Doesn’t care if
people think he’s crazy.”
Jax shrugged once.
Jax Brenner: “Problem is…
eventually you still gotta fight somebody.”
A loud cheer
followed.
Ryan looked back
toward Jax.
Ryan Mercer: “Do you believe
Colonel Flagg can push you into the kind of fight he wants?”
Jax thought for a
moment before answering.
Jax Brenner: “Ryan… I’ve spent
most of my life in bad places.”
The crowd listened
closely now.
Jax Brenner: “Snowstorms.
Wilderness. Fights where people didn’t stop because somebody rang a bell.”
He looked directly
into the camera.
Jax Brenner: “Flagg wants chaos.”
A slight pause.
Jax Brenner: “That’s fine.”
The crowd applauded.
Jax Brenner: “But chaos works
both ways.”
Jax settled the
Hardcore Championship firmly against his shoulder.
Jax Brenner: “Tonight he finds
out what happens when chaos runs into somebody tougher than him.”
The crowd erupted.
Ryan Mercer: “Jax Brenner defends
the Hardcore Championship against Colonel Samuel Flagg tonight in our main
event.”
Jax gave a final nod
before walking out of frame toward the arena entrance as the crowd continued
cheering.
The camera followed
briefly before cutting back inside the ESGP Coliseum where anticipation
immediately began building for the Hardcore Championship main event.
The ESGP Coliseum
darkened as military-style percussion echoed throughout the arena.
Static suddenly
crackled across the video screen.
Then came the
shouting.
Colonel Samuel Flagg
stormed onto the stage wearing camouflage pants, combat boots, and a wild-eyed
expression as he scanned the crowd like he expected enemy agents to emerge from
the seats at any moment.
The audience rained
boos down immediately.
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Now THAT is a man ready for combat.”
J.R. Holland: “That is a man who
desperately needs counseling.”
Flagg barked at fans
near ringside while aggressively pointing toward random areas of the building.
At one point he
stopped halfway down the aisle and shouted toward the upper deck.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “I SEE YOU, CANADA!”
The crowd burst into
confused laughter.
J.R. Holland: “We are in North
Carolina.”
Flagg slid into the
ring and immediately demanded a microphone from ringside personnel before
tossing it away seconds later and pacing like a caged animal.
Inside the ring stood
Tony Calibur.
Tony Calibur: “The following
contest is scheduled for one fall and is contested under BOOT CAMP RULES!”
The crowd cheered
loudly.
Tony Calibur: “Introducing first…
the challenger… from parts unknown and under active surveillance… weighing in
tonight at two hundred and thirty-eight pounds… COLOOOONEL SAAAAMUEL FLAAAAGG!”
Flagg saluted wildly
toward the crowd before yelling something incoherent toward the hard camera.
Then the arena lights
dimmed.
A slow heavy drumbeat
echoed through the Coliseum.
The audience erupted.
Massive white pyro
exploded across the stage as Jax Brenner stepped through the smoke with the HCW
Hardcore Championship over his shoulder.
The crowd roared
louder with every step toward the ring.
J.R. Holland: “And here comes the
Hardcore Champion.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“You know, J.R., if Jax spent less time hiking mountains and more time reading
classified documents, he might understand what Flagg’s trying to protect us
from.”
J.R. Holland: “Please stop
talking.”
Jax reached ringside
and locked eyes with Flagg immediately.
No smile.
No theatrics.
Just focus.
Tony Calibur: “And his opponent…
from Anchorage, Alaska… weighing in tonight at two hundred and ninety-two
pounds… he is the HCW HARDCORE CHAMPION…”
Tony raised his voice
as the crowd joined him.
Tony Calibur: “THE ALASKAN
WILDMAN… JAAAAAX BRENNERRRR!”
The crowd exploded.
Jax climbed into the
ring and handed the Hardcore Championship to the referee while Flagg continued
pacing and shouting to himself in the opposite corner.
The referee barely
finished checking both men before Flagg charged across the ring screaming.
The match exploded
instantly.
Flagg actually caught
Jax early with a sudden snap suplex that briefly stunned the champion, but the
moment only seemed to irritate Jax more than hurt him.
Jax answered by
driving a loaded combat boot directly into the side of Flagg’s head, nearly
turning the challenger inside out.
The crowd erupted.
J.R. Holland: “Good Lord!”
Flagg staggered
backward wildly as blood immediately began pouring from above his eye.
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“HE’S BLEEDING!”
J.R. Holland: “You think?!”
Flagg kept swinging
anyway.
Wild punches.
Wild shouting.
Pure chaos.
Jax weathered it for
less than a minute before finally grabbing hold of the challenger and locking
in the Sasquatch Squeeze near center ring.
The pressure hit
instantly.
Flagg screamed in
pain while blood poured down his face.
J.R. Holland: “Jax Brenner has
that hold cinched in tight!”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“Don’t quit, Colonel!”
Flagg flailed
desperately for several seconds before finally tapping the mat violently.
The bell rang.
J.R. Holland: “An incredibly fast
and brutal defense for Jax Brenner tonight.”
WINNER AND STILL HCW
HARDCORE CHAMPION: Jax Brenner
via submission with the Sasquatch Squeeze
Jax released the hold
immediately and stood back up while the referee handed him the Hardcore
Championship.
Flagg rolled across
the mat clutching at his head while blood continued running down his face.
The crowd roared for
the champion.
Jax nodded once
toward the audience before climbing out of the ring and beginning to head up
the aisle.
Then—
Flagg grabbed a
microphone.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “NO!”
The crowd turned back
toward the ring.
Flagg stumbled to his
feet using the ropes while blood dripped down his face and onto his camouflage
jacket.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “THAT WASN’T WAR!”
The crowd booed
loudly.
Jax stopped halfway
up the ramp.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “You hear me,
Brenner?! THAT was regulation garbage! Controlled environment!
Government-approved violence!”
J.R. Holland: “Oh no…”
Col. Samuel Flagg: “You didn’t beat me!
You survived the opening skirmish!”
Flagg pointed wildly
toward Jax from the ring.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “You think you’re
tough because you squeezed a little blood outta me?!”
The crowd began
buzzing loudly now.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “You wanna know what
REAL combat looks like?!”
Jax stared back
silently from the ramp.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “COME BACK HERE!”
The crowd erupted.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “Or are you scared
once things stop being civilized?!”
Jax slowly lowered
the Hardcore Championship from his shoulder.
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“He got him.”
J.R. Holland: “No… no, he really
didn’t.”
Flagg leaned over the
ropes screaming.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “COME FIGHT ME FOR
REAL!”
A long pause
followed.
Then Jax turned.
The crowd exploded.
Jax slowly walked
back toward the ring while Flagg began laughing wildly to himself.
Jax climbed onto the
apron and stepped through the ropes as the crowd buzzed in anticipation.
He asked for the
microphone.
Flagg grinned through
the blood.
Jax looked him dead
in the eyes.
Jax Brenner: “You want pain?”
A loud reaction.
Jax Brenner: “Fine.”
The crowd erupted.
Jax Brenner: “Thumbtack
Deathmatch.”
The ESGP Coliseum
absolutely exploded.
Flagg’s eyes widened.
Then he started
laughing.
Not normal laughter.
Unhinged laughter.
Col. Samuel Flagg: “NOW YOU’RE SPEAKING
MY LANGUAGE!”
Officials immediately
rushed around ringside as crew members began bringing containers filled with
thumbtacks toward the ring while the audience lost their minds.
J.R. Holland: “This situation has
completely spiraled out of control!”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“THIS is what Shockwave should be!”
The bell rang again.
And the violence
somehow became worse.
Flagg fought far more
aggressively this time, repeatedly throwing himself directly into danger while
trying to drag Jax into pure chaos. But even with the added violence, the
Hardcore Champion continued overpowering him whenever the exchanges became physical.
A vicious back
bodydrop into thumbtacks nearly ended the match early.
Then a suplex onto
the tacks opened Flagg up even worse.
The ring became
littered with blood and silver thumbtacks as the crowd alternated between
cheering and horrified screaming with every impact.
J.R. Holland: “This has become
absolutely barbaric!”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“And somehow Flagg looks MORE comfortable now!”
To the challenger’s
credit, he refused to stay down.
Every near fall only
seemed to make Flagg crazier.
But eventually even
chaos has limits.
Jax finally caught
Flagg near the center of the ring and drove him backward with a thunderous
forearm bludgeon that dropped the challenger flat onto the canvas.
Jax collapsed into
the cover.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
The bell rang again.
J.R. Holland: “Jax Brenner
survives an absolute war tonight!”
WINNER AND STILL HCW
HARDCORE CHAMPION: Jax Brenner
via pinfall after a Forearm Bludgeon
The crowd roared as
Jax slowly pushed himself back to his feet covered in sweat, blood, and
thumbtacks.
Flagg remained
motionless near the ropes.
Jax accepted the
Hardcore Championship from the referee before looking back down at the fallen
challenger.
For a moment, it
looked like he might say something.
Instead, Jax simply
shook his head once.
Then left.
Behind him, Colonel
Samuel Flagg slowly began laughing again while lying in a pile of thumbtacks.
The sound echoed
uncomfortably throughout the ESGP Coliseum as officials cautiously approached
the ring, unsure whether Flagg was hurt, delirious, or simply enjoying the
pain.
Jax Brenner paused
briefly at the top of the ramp.
The Hardcore Champion
looked back one final time toward the ring where Flagg continued laughing
through a mask of blood and thumbtacks.
J.R. Holland: “I don’t know if
Colonel Samuel Flagg proved anything tonight… but I do know this rivalry is far
from over.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“You hear that laugh, J.R.? That’s a man who finally found the kind of fight he
wanted.”
Jax adjusted the
Hardcore Championship on his shoulder and disappeared through the curtain as
medical personnel finally entered the ring to check on Flagg.
Still laughing.
Still staring upward.
Still not fully
broken.
J.R. Holland: “What a night here
on Shockwave. Cassius Onyx survived Proving Grounds in an impressive debut,
Adrian Cipher forced Jet Moreno to submit in disturbing fashion, Jack Lumber
prepares for war with Mordred at The Long Night, and tonight Jax Brenner
retained the Hardcore Championship twice against one of the most dangerous men
we’ve seen in HCW this year.”
Clarkus “C.K.”
Kentus:
“And somehow Colonel Flagg may be crazier now than when he walked in.”
J.R. Holland: “For Clarkus ‘C.K.’
Kentus, I’m J.R. Holland. Thank you for joining us tonight for HCW Shockwave.”
The final shot
lingered on Colonel Samuel Flagg still laughing in the thumbtacks while
officials stood around him uneasily.
Then the screen faded
to black.
