HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2024 #994 – 4/07/24

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Tonight’s show begins with the Omegatron lighting up with a live video feed.

[The scene opens with SCW Commissioner ‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas standing in the center of a dimly lit room, the SCW logo prominently displayed in the background. The atmosphere is tense, and Shane's expression reflects a mixture of frustration and anger.]

Shane Douglas: Well, well, well... look at what we got here. The SCW and HCW faithful alike, I've got a message for each and every one of you. You thought Shane Douglas was gonna let things slide? Hell no!

[Shane leans forward, his eyes piercing through the camera.]

Shane Douglas: Kurt Angle, you conniving little snake.  You strut into the HCW ring, thinking you can pull a fast one on the Franchise? You think you can just lay down, hand over the SCW Heavyweight Championship, and think I wouldn't notice? You've got another thing coming, Angle.

[Shane smirks, the tension building.]

Shane Douglas: Tommy Sullivan, you rat bastard. You think that you and Angle stabbing me in the back was going to get one over on the Franchise?. Well, let me tell you something, Sullivan - the storm is coming, and it's gonna rain down on BOTH of you.

[Shane clenches his fists, his frustration evident.]

Shane Douglas: I trusted you, Angle. I trusted you to be the face of SCW, to carry this company to new heights. And what do you do? You betray that trust, align yourself with the likes of Tommy Sullivan, and make a mockery out of the SCW Heavyweight Championship.

[Shane pauses, his eyes burning with intensity.]

Shane Douglas: This is far from over. Sullivan, you may have had your little moment, but mark my words – the consequences are coming. SCW is my kingdom, and you just awakened the dragon.

[The camera slowly zooms in on Shane's determined expression as he delivers his final message.]

Shane Douglas: As the saying goes, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.  Get ready, boys. The storm is here, and it's about to engulf both of you in a whirlwind of consequences. And trust me, when the dust settles, SCW will stand tall, and the Franchise will have the final say.  Morningstar, I CHALLENGE you to a match for the SCW Heavyweight title.

[The screen fades to black as Shane Douglas stares into the camera, leaving an air of anticipation for the upcoming showdown in SCW.]

Tonight’s show begins after the pyro goes off.  Trinity Bowman comes out first to a nice reaction from the crowd.  She shakes hands with a couple of fans and then gets into the ring.   There are only a few moments before the music changes and out comes Luna Shadow to a bigger pop. There is a bit of commotion outside the arena and security called GM Max McGillicutty.   Max comes out and sees a large truck parked outside.  He inquires to what this is and out of the cab steps Hardcore Champion Mr. X.  He tells Max that he never shies away from paying his fines so here he goes.  He has the trailer tilt and out comes bags and bags of….pennies.  Mr. X tells Max to enjoy his ill-gotten-gains and leaves laughing.

The Conquistadors – Toro and Zapato – make their way out first.  The get a decent pop from the crowd as they made their way to the ring.  They get into the ring and get the fans pumped up for this match.  The Freedom Fighters – Justice and Flash – come out next to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  They make their way to the ring and are ready to get this going.  The two teams were pretty evenly matched and neither could really get the lead over the other.  Both teams managed to kick out of each other’s moves with infuriated both sides.  We join the match at the 26 min mark.

The bell sounds bringing another match to a draw finish but we don’t wait very long as the World Tag Team Champions the New Sicilians (Dick and Vinnie Albano) hit the ring and begin brawling with the Freedom Fighters.  Both teams take the action out of the ring and battle all the way to the back.

We head backstage and there is another altercation taking place.  Duke Knight and Negropolis have come to blows and security had to rush over and separate the two.  Duke says he wants Negropolis in some sort of specialty match at the PPV.  Max McGillicutty showed up and said he will make it happen as long as the two separate now.  The two future competitors go in different directions.

Match #3:  Apollo Gyze vs Joe Sanders

Joe ‘Jackhammer’ Sanders comes out first to a nice pop from the crowd.  He makes his way to the ring and enters through the ropes.  He doesn’t have to wait long as “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” screams through the speakers.  Apollo comes out and there is a combination of booing and ‘you tapped out’ chants at him.  He became visibly annoyed.  He then powerwalked to the ring and got in and immediately attacked Joe starting off the match.  Joe and Apollo went toe to toe for 4 minutes before Apollo executed a Gorilla Press Drop Moonsault.  He goes for the pin without hooking the leg and Joe kicked out at 1.  Apollo throws Joe out of the ring and then does a suicide dive on to Joe on the outside of the ring.  Apollo gets back in the ring immediately and Joe made it back in at the 8 count.  After a couple of minutes of in-ring action, Apollo hit Joe with another suicide dive to the floor.  He tried to get the ref to count faster but Joe still made it back in by the count of 8.  Apollo connects with a flying dropkick and once again, due to his ego, he goes for the cover without hooking the leg allowing Joe to kick out again.  Apollo connects with a delayed vertical suplex and then stands there gloating.  It gave Joe time to shake it off and locked in a nerve pinch on Apollo.  Apollo screamed like his arm was being torn off and immediately began slapping the mat submitting to the move.  Joe gets the win via submission at the 13 minute mark.  Joe gets his arm raised as the victor and Apollo takes off to the back as he is showered with ‘You tapped out’ chants.  Joe left shortly thereafter.

Backstage at the buffet table, Blake ‘Oak Tree’ Hill is taking a little bit more than his fair share of food and Superstar Chic Monroe starts to chastise him for being a food hog and the two almost come to blows before the staff separate the two.  Blake tells Chic that if he feels like a tough guy, they can meet in the ring.

Match #4:  Albano Clan vs Dominic, JR and Alejandro – non title match

‘The Italian Thoroughbred’ Dominic Marconi, the Magnificent One Juan Raul Fargo and Alejandro Guerrero make their way out first to the loudest pop of the night.  They interact with the fans as they make their way to the ring.  Upon entering, they began to get the crowd excited and pumped up for this match.  Then the music changed and the fans’ outlook turned sour.  Pierre Boulay, manager of the 6 Man Tag Team Champions, comes out first and then introduces the champs Aldo and Carlo Albano and Rigg A Mortis.  The champs come out each with a title slung over their shoulders.  The fans booing intensified as they make their way to the ring.  A few fans threw cups of liquid at them as they passed by but the champs didn’t seem to pay much attention.  They get in the ring and in the center of the squared circle, they stand united and each hold their titles high.  This non-title match begins right away.
