HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #902 – 5/12

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  First, we want to thank guest GM James Leahey for helping out while our fearless leader Max McGillicutty took care of some details.  As a recap from our last show, newcomer Casper Wyoming was one of the lumberjacks who participated in the lumberjack match which saw Jack Lumber win the World Title for the second time defeating Wicked Prophet.  Prophet felt he was slighted by Casper and has vowed to make him pay.  Also, the debut of Phantom Frank saw the masked man victorious in his HCW debut.  Perhaps the most shocking (but not surprising) was Sassy Maxine DeVito costing Korbi Kong the Ladies title.  This did not sit well with management and the title was immediately held up.  Violet Valkyrie came down to check on her friend.  Korbi, unable to continue wrestling, told Violet to take her place.  A few minutes later and Violet Valkyrie is crowned the NEW Ladies Champion.

In other news, we met up with one half of the World Tag Team Champions Dennis Marshall in a one on one interview.  Dennis said that when he wrestled in the indies, he had a cool move called the Cat Pounce but opted not to use it in HCW out of respect for the cat lady Catalina Harper.  Dennis mentioned that he was abandoned in a New York alley as a child and was raised by alley cats.  The fans started to feel sympathetic towards Dennis until Dash stormed into the interview area demanding that he should also be part of this.  Dash then went on to say that he heard what Dennis said and commented that his upbringing was almost identical except he was raised by alley dogs.  The fans saw through this and booed the crap out of Dash for blatantly copying Dennis.  Hell, Dash can’t seem to have an original thought.  The booing intensified and Dash got fed up and started to leave.  He then told Dennis to follow him.  Dennis shook the interviewers hand and followed his tag team partner.

We did some digging and came up with a list below of the accomplishments of some of the members of the HCW roster.  They are listed below alphabetically.

Pyro goes off starting our show.  GM Max McGillicutty comes out and thanks the fans for attending and for giving the guest GM the benefit of the doubt.  He doesn’t want to waste time standing her talking so let’s get the show underway.

The Omegatron lights up showing the new Anytime/Anywhere Champion Lucas Johnston walking through a park.  He sees Master Bull hiding behind a tree with a ref behind him.  He thinks he’s going to be sneaky and creeps up behind him.  Bull, of course, was waiting and hit him hard with a clothesline.  He then dumped Lucas on a merry-go-round and spun it. Lucas ended up falling off disoriented.  Bull ran over and made the cover.  The ref counted 1-2-3.  Master Bull has just won the Anytime/Anywhere title back.  He takes his title and leaves.

We come back to the arena.  Music hits and Outback Oscar comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He shakes hands with the fans and gets into the ring.  The music changes and out comes the latest edition to HCW Albert Perez.  Perez starts to showboat and is immediately booed.  He flips off the fans and makes his way to the ring.  He attacks Oscar starting this one off.  Oscar then fought back and held the advantage for 4 minutes with Oscar locking in the Outback Stretch.  Albert made it to the ropes and then hit Oscar with a low blow changing the tide of the match.  We join at the 5th minute.

Albert (don’t call me Al) Perez gets the win in his debut match.  The fans boo him and he gloats in front of them before finally heading to the back.  Oscar, frustrated, follows shortly thereafter.

Backstage, Dash Woodbrick is reprimanding Dennis.  “We are a team.  There is no I in team.  If there is an interview going on, we both go.  This is not the Dennis Marshall show you know.”  Dennis apologizes and says it won’t happen again.

Our next match is pitting two fan favorites against each other.  First, Catalina Harper comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  She shakes hands with the fans and makes her way to the ring.  A moment later, the music changes and the ‘small but powerful’ Hayley Hailstorm comes out.  She also gets a loud pop from the crowd.  She interacts with the fans and gets into the ring.  She meets Catalina in the middle of the ring and they shake hands.  Catalina surprised Hayley early and held the advantage throughout the match.  Hayley held her own but lagged slightly behind her opponent.  We join the match at the 11 minute mark.

Catalina Harper (f) wins with a KNEEDROP ON ARM over Hayley Hailstorm (f)!!!

Catalina Harper gets the win and immediately goes over to check on Hayley.  She helps Hayley to her feet and Hayley shakes her arm trying to get the feeling back in it.  The two shake hands again and the fans pop for them both.   They eventually leave the ring.

We cut backstage for an interview with former Ladies Champion Korbi Kong.  Korbi congratulates Violet on the win and says that if she can’t hold the title, she is happy to see Violet have it.   Korbi says that normally she’s a woman of few words but she has some choice ones for Maxine.  She is then censored by a loud beeping (we have to keep this PG you know).  Korbi smiles and says she will make it her mission to run Maxine out of HCW.  Once that is done, she is going to want a rematch for the title.  It doesn’t matter who will be holding it – friend or foe – she wants her title back.

Up next is some tag team action.  2 members of the Muscles Trio – Muscles McGuire and Weasley – come out to a nice pop from the crowd.  They are carrying their boxes of ‘Booty O’s’ cereal and wearing their rainbow colored bull horns.  They interact with the fans and make their way to the ring.  The music eventually changes and out comes the Freedom Fighters – Justice and Flash.  FF are booed as they head to the ring but they don’t seem to care.  This match is for FF’s spot in the Tag Team top 10.  They get in the ring and the match starts almost immediately.  The Muscles held the lead for 10 minutes but then the Freedom Fighters took over.  It wasn’t long before the Muscles found their groove and started to make a comeback.    Double teaming from the FF followed by a huge flying dropkick from Justice shut the Muscles down.  Justice made the cover and got the 1-2-3.  The Freedom Fighters get the win and hold on to their spot in the Tag Team Top 10.  They leave and are booed by the fans.  The Muscles get a “nice try” pop from the crowd.  (23 min)

The Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman are backstage and they call out the Ambassador and his cronies.  Only the Ambassador shows up.  Buzz says they will destroy the Ambassadors new team and then send him packing.  Starbuck says he wants them in the ring.  The Ambassador says that if the Six Man Titles are not on the line, it’s a no-go.  Biceps then says he wants Dr. Red Fang one on one.  Buzz says he will take on Azrael and Starbuck will take Barry Morningstar.  The Ambassador says “It’s your funeral” and walks away.  I guess we have some matches set for our next card.

It’s time for our next match which is for the TV Title.  First, the challenger Ovaltine Jackson comes out to a nice reception from the crowd.  He makes his way to the ring but his music is abruptly cut off when the TV Champion the Banker’s music hits with “Everyone’s got a price…for the Banker” and the champion comes out with his manager Ruth Heartless.  The duo are booed heavily but they mostly ignore the fans.  The Banker has his briefcase and hands it to Ruth as he enters the ring.  He immediately attacks Ovaltine starting this one off.  Surprisingly, Ovaltine handed the Banker his @$$.  The Banker couldn’t believe he was being dominated so badly.   At the 11 minute mark, he exited the ring and talked strategy with Ruth.  He almost got counted out but Ovaltine chased him back into the ring.  We join the match at the 12 minute mark.

It’s time for our main event – The World Tag Team Titles are on the line in the first title defense by the newly crowned champions DD Double D Duo – Dash Woodbrick and Dennis Marshall.  Dennis, of course, gets a nice pop from the crowd and Dash is booed.  It seems Dash is becoming jealous and resentful of Dennis’ popularity.   First, the challengers Maximillian Redbeard and Superquake Ferguson come out to a nice pop from the crowd.  As they get into the ring, their music is shut off and DD’s music hits.  Dash comes out first with a mic in hand and says that no one cares about the big goof with the red beard or his brain-dead partner (Dash then starts walking around on stage like Frankenstein).  He laughs.  Dennis joins him, shaking his head, and they make their way to the ring.  Redbeard is about as red (from anger) as his facial hair.  A couple of times Maximillian tried to start the match but Dash would continually jump out of the ring delaying the start.  Ferguson got tired and chased Dash into the ring… into the waiting arms of Redbeard.   We finally get this one started.  Dash, of course, tried to hog all the limelight for himself.  Dennis wasn’t thrilled.

With that, today’s show comes to an end.   Stay tuned.   More to come.
