HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2018 #703 – Phoenix Heat

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  Things are definitely heating up as we close the gap on our PPV Reign of Champions.   Typically, this PPV is supposed to be just champions defending their titles but stooge Emmett Millbarge basically turned it into ‘just another (expensive) show’.

The show began with a backstage segment of former TV Champion the Unknown Assassin and his manager J C Dykes storming into Emmett Millbarge’s office.  Dykes complains that Preacher and Nix Anderson used some illegal tactics (they’re not exactly innocent either) and because Nix cheated to win, he demanded that the Unknown Assassin be given an immediate rematch.  Emmett said that he totally agreed that UA will get a rematch but questioned if he should be first.  UA leaned over Emmett’s desk and got into his face and ‘explained’ how successfully he was at defending the TV title ever since defeating the joke that is Texas Wildfire.  He tells Emmett to make it happen or things will get nasty.  UA and Dykes stormed out of the office leaving Emmett quaking in his boots.  He then adjusted his shirt, picked up the phone and told someone “We may have ourselves a problem…”  The segment ended before we could get any other information.

Pyro goes off and our show kicks off.  J C Dykes and the Unknown Assassin make their way out to the ring first.  Dykes gets on the mic calling Nix Anderson a coward for not showing up here and says that the Assassin needs to take his frustrations out on someone and demands a match.  Muscles Thorpe comes out to a pop from the crowd.  He is wearing his rainbow colored bull horns and is carrying his box of ‘Booty-O’s’ cereal.  As soon as he gets into the ring, UA attacks him spilling cereal everywhere.  Thorpe put up a good fight but he just wasn’t a match for a pissed off Assassin.  At the 7 minute mark, UA began laying some stiff forearm shots to Thorpe and knocked him silly.  UA went for the pin and got the easy 1-2-3.  The Unknown Assassin gets the win and hurls Thorpe out of the ring.  He then yells (without a mic) that he wants his TV title back.  The segment finally ends after UA and Dykes left the ring.  (7 min)

US Champion Jacques Beannot arrives in Phoenix and comments how hot it is there (even in the indoor air conditioned building).  He makes his way to Emmett’s office.  “You said you wanted me here?”  Emmett stands up.  “Sure did.  You see, you’ve been the US Champion now for almost a month and have yet to defend the title.”  Jacques replies “Yeah, I have to defend the title against Drew in a week.  So?”  Emmett shakes his head.  “You’re new so you must have not gotten the memo.  All Champions are required to defend their titles 2x a month.  Since you haven’t done it yet, you get to tonight.”  Jacques is shocked.  “Hang on.  I’m set to defend it in less than 2 weeks and you want me to defend it NOW?”  Emmett smiles.  “Now you get it.  You’re in the main event so you have some time but I suggest you go get ready.”  Emmett shows Jacques to the door and then slams it behind him.

Our next match is ready to go. First, 2 members of the Snake Pit – Leiton and Tobias Snake come out to a decent pop from the crowd.  Next, the Ambassador comes out and introduces Elitism (The Elitist Reid Rothchild and Rowdy Roderick Rothchild).  This match is basically family vs. family.  We know that there is bad blood running through the Snake Pit with Niven Snake having turned on his brothers.  We are sure that will come to a head sooner rather than later.  The match began and was about as expected with both teams taking turns controlling the tempo of the match.  18 minutes into the match and the ref took a bump and was out of commission.  Niven Snake then came out and jawjacked with Leiton.  Tobias had to get between them before the fisticuffs began.  Niven got out of the ring and grabbed a steel chair.   Reid went to whip Leiton into the ropes but Leiton saw what was coming and reversed it sending Reid to the ropes just as Niven was blindly swinging the chair.  Niven was pissed that he hit the wrong guy and threw down the chair and stormed off.  Reid had fallen out of the ring.  The ref was now recovering and began to count Reid out.  Roderick went over to help Reid up and helped him back into the ring.  Reid had made it to his hands and knees before Leiton hit him with the curb stomp.  He immediately made the cover and got the 3 count.  The Snake Pit gets the win but the fans were pretty “meh” about it.  The Ambassador complained to the ref about Niven’s outside interference but the ref said he was out of it and didn’t see anything.  The Ambassador and Roderick helped Reid to the back.  (21 min)

Backstage, Ladies Champion Ravishing Raquel is with Taylor Bella.  Raquel says that she was put into a match tonight and was told to pick a partner to take on Madame Jade and Lavender Gooms.  Raquel says she picked Taylor as she is probably the only other trustworthy person on the roster.  Taylor says that Raquel is the top Lady in their division and has accomplished more than any other person and it’s her honor to team with her and she will have her back.  However, she says that once this is all done, Taylor wants to have a serious conversation about getting a shot at that title.  Raquel tells her that once they defeat their opponents, she will be open to having that discussion.

The team of ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger, Sonic Blade and Texas Wildfire make their way down to the ring to a huge pop from the crowd.  Wildfire says that they are one win away from getting a title shot for the 6 Man tag team titles.  Sonic says that they are ready and ready to represent the fans as their champions.  Winger begins with talking about what brought them together when they are interrupted by an annoying sound coming from the speakers…”VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE” and out comes Ant Graham and his Ghouls (Dr. Red Fang, Wolfman Keg and Mason the Mangler).  Graham tells them “not so fast” and says that the Ghouls are being overlooked by the committee to screw over his wrestlers and demands that the Ghouls get a shot right here to prove they should be the ones getting the title shot next.  Winger looks to his teammates and then accepts on their behalf.  Looks like we have a spur of the moment match up.

This one went the distance with the Ghouls getting a leg up because of their manager’s constant interference.  Winger finally got tired of him sticking his nose in and hit him with the Steamroller taking him out.  Even with Graham down and out, the Ghouls continued to hold their own.  Just as the match was nearing the time limit, Wolfman Keg locked Sonic Blade in the torture rack and just before he could tap out, Texas Wildfire came in for the save.  They then hit Keg with a double dropkick that sent him out of the ring.  The bell then rang bringing his one to a draw finish.  Wildfire, Winger and Blade stood in the ring while the Ghouls gathered up Graham and took him to the back.  The good guys celebrated with the fans briefly before heading to the back themselves.  (30 min draw)

Madame Jade and Lavender Gooms are asked if they heard what their opponents said about them.  Jade said that both Taylor and Raquel are full of hot air and they will deflate them.  Lavender says that Jade is the top ladies wrestler in HCW and not Raquel as she is honest and trustworthy as opposed to the cheaters who will occupy the other side of the ring from them.  The better team will prevail.

Our next match begins with Talon McFrost coming out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, the Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless come out and are booed.  The Banker, one third of the 6 man champions, holds his title high as he makes his way to the ring.  Just as the bell rang, Talon left the ring to confront Ruth.  He surprised her by taking out a pair of handcuffs and cuffed her to the ringside railing making her a non-factor in this match.  That move totally took the Banker off his game and it was Talon who was in control of this match.  Things started to go the Banker’s way when he hit Talon with a Deposit Diving DDT but Talon shook it off and locked in the Yukon Cloverleaf.  The Banker almost made it to the ropes but Talon pulled him back to the center of the ring.  Trapped with no hope of escaping, he tapped out.  Talon McFrost gets the win via submission.  The Regulators then hit the ring and Talon bailed but it was too late.  Regulator Mule got Ruth freed from the handcuffs and then they all went to the back together.  (19 min)

One half of the World Tag Team Champions El Chango says that tonight he gets a shot at singles glory when he gets to take on US Champion Jacques Beannot.  He promises the fans he’ll do whatever it takes to be the first person this year in HCW to hold two titles.

Our ladies tag team match is up next. First, Madame Jade and Lavender Gooms come out to a nice pop from the crowd (the fans care more about Jade than Lavender).  They make their way down to the ring and enter it starting to psyche up the crowd.  Next, Taylor Bella and the Ladies Champion Ravishing Raquel come out to boos from the crowd.  These two have some serious heat going against them but they don’t seem to care.  Taylor and Raquel attack Jade and Lavender before being forced out of the ring.  Raquel and Taylor stormed around the ring ignoring the prompts from Jade and the ref to re-enter the ring.  Finally they did and this one began.  The match was a close one with Raquel and Taylor keeping the other fresh in the ring with constant tagging in and out.  Almost all pin and submission attempts were done on Lavender who was looked at as the weaker link.  At the 15 minute mark, Raquel hits a beautifully executed moonsault catching Lavender totally unaware.  She would have gotten the 3 count but Jade was able to get in there and break the pin attempt.  After some more double teaming, Lavender began to battle back and caught Raquel with an Electric Chair Drop but before she could capitalize on it, Taylor blind tagged herself in and nailed Lavender with the sitout facebuster.  She hooked the leg and got the 3 count.  Taylor Bella and Ravishing Raquel get the win however Raquel wasn’t happy that Taylor took the cheap way to get the pin.  The two had words but they ended up leaving at the same time.  (18 min)

US Champion Jacques Beannot is backstage and he says that it’s not really fair that he has to defend his title so close to the PPV but he says there is a reason the belt is around his waist and tonight he will walk out with his arm raised.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the challenger – one half of the Desperados who just so happen to be the World Tag Team Champions -  El Chango – makes his way out to the ring first.  The fans pop for him.  Once in the ring and he does his thing, the music changes and out comes the US Champion Jacques Beannot.  The pop for him is equal to that if not better but Jacques looks around disappointed like he thinks it needs to be louder.  He high fives a few of the fans on his way to the ring.  He gets in, shows off his title and then meets El Chango in the center of the ring.  The two shake hands but before the the bell could ring, ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher comes out and walks over to have a discussion with the referee.  We can’t be sure but it seems that Matt may have slipped something to the ref.  The bell rings and this one is off.
