HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2018 #660 – Tacoma Thunder

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  The show begins back in the office of (temporary) GM the Ragin Cajun King Rad Gumbo.  Gumbo is on the phone and is irate.  He slams the receiver down.  Queen Alexandria asks him what is wrong and responds that he has to cancel a match on tonight’s card.  “Which one?” she asks.  “That damn Master Bull denied the flight vouchers for Texas Wildfire and Scooter J not allowing them to be here for their match.”  He slams his fists on the desk.  Bull will rue the day he decided to mess with THIS Cajun!”

Niven and Tobias Snake walk into Gumbo’s office saying that Superquake stole the Hardcore title from Leiton and they are demanding a shot.  Rad says that since the two of them are here right now, the match will be a triple threat match for the title.

After a recap is shown from Elimination Chamber (Unknown Assassin winning the match and Gumbo himself defeating Buzz Steel (only Rad’s highspots were shown)), pyro goes off and our show is ready to begin.  We have today’s line up and it looks like this:

The first match kicks off with the annoying sound of “I’ve got some bad news for ya” blaring over the loudspeakers and out comes “Bad News” Marvin Barnes.  Barnes is booed all the way down to the ring.  He doesn’t care who he offends as he flips off the fans as he makes his way to the ring.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes Davis ‘the Hoff’ Hoffmeister.  The crowd pops HUGE for him and he makes his way down to the ring.  Barnes doesn’t care much for that so he attacks Davis upon his entering of the ring.  Davis managed to keep Barnes at bay and he looked like he was going to go on to dominate but then, in from the crowd came Mustang Sammy.  He waited for Barnes to get to his feet and then he whipped Davis into the ropes but Sammy pulled down the top rope and Davis flew out of the ring and crashed into the ringside barrier.  Barnes distracted the ref and Sammy (now joined by his manager Figgy Newton) put the boots to Davis.  He then took off through the crowd.  The ref turned around and began the count.  He got to 10 and Davis was slow in getting up.  The ref ends up counting Davis out and awards the match to Bad News via countout.  Barnes celebrates but then leaves the ring and grabs Davis and rolls him back in.  He sets him up in the corner and then goes to the other side of the ring.  He then rushes at Davis but Davis caught him and backdropped him right over the top rope and sent him crashing to the floor.  The fans pop as Davis stands tall in the ring and Barnes walks backwards up the ramp cursing at Davis.  Davis gets on the mic and he says that Mustang Sammy and Figgy have finally crossed that line.  Davis says he will put his career on the line in order to get Sammy in a match at Critical Mass once again.  He says that his career is worth more than a match so he says he wants Figgy in the ring if he wins.  He says he’ll wait for Sammy’s response.  (6 min for the match; 5 for the additional segment)

Back in his office, King Rad welcomes US Champion the Crocodile Hunter to his show.  Rad tells him that he will be defending his title against Billy Robbins.  Croc says ok and says he’s going to warm up but Gumbo tells him that the match is next so he needs to head down to the ring now.  Croc leaves and Gumbo laughs.

It’s time for the next match.  Billy Robbins comes out first to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, the US Champion the Crocodile Hunter makes his way out and the fans pop huge for him.  He gets into the ring and the bell rings almost immediately.   Billy owned the champ as he had time to prepare and took the fight to the champ.  The longer the match went though, the better Croc became.  After 15 minutes of getting beat down, he began to fight back and then began beating Robbins down.  In the final minute of the match, Billy went for a flying bodypress but Croc ducked.  He then began laying in with some knife edge chops.  The bell rang and this one comes to a draw finish.  After the match, Billy and Croc shook hands much to the delight of the fans.  They both left at the same time.  (20 min draw)

Back in his office, King Rad is going over his contract for the World title match.  He notices that Bull made a change and that the contract can’t be redeemed until after the Critical Mass PPV.  He is not happy and just stews in his chair.

The next match is ready to begin and Figgy Newton comes out with Mustang Sammy.  The two of them are laughing about how they pulled one over on Davis.  The music changes and out comes Brick.  Brick gets a pop and Sammy and Figgy snicker as the fans cheer this schmuck.  Sammy attacks Brick and the match begins.  Sammy begins to go to work on the back of Brick but Brick kept fighting back.   The match spilled to the outside of the ring and Sammy ran Brick’s back into the steel post.  He rolled Brick back in.  Sammy then locked in the Handlebar (camel clutch) and Brick tapped out.  Mustang Sammy gets the win via submission.  Sammy takes a mic and tells Davis that they are accepting his challenge for the match at Critical Mass.   I guess we got our first match of the event locked in.  (7 min)

We go back again to the GM’s office and King Rad and Queen Alexandria are talking.  Gumbo acknowledges that the Ghouls were indeed stripped of the 6 man titles and a new tournament would be held to crown new champs.  Ghouls manager Ant Graham enters the office and complains about how Master Bull set him up for failure.  Gumbo agrees and says that in Phoenix, there will be an 8 team tournament to crown new 6 man champs.  He says that the Ghouls will be part of that.  Graham shakes the King’s hand and then leaves.  Gumbo is seen then wiping his hand on his shirt.

It’s time for some tag team action.  First, Muscles Thorpe and McGuire make their way out wearing the rainbow colored bull horns.  The fans pop for the comedic act.   Next, TNT and the Axe make their way out to a solid pop from the crowd.   After the first minute in the match, the Axe took a bump from the ring apron and he landed hard on the steel steps basically knocking himself out.  That left TNT to fend for himself.  The Muscles owned the match and after McGuire caught TNT with a cross bodyblock, he got the 1-2-3. The Muscles get the win.  After the match, they all went out of the ring to check on the Axe and they helped him to the back much to the approval from the fans.  (11 min)

Gumbo continues to monopolize the show and once again we’re back in his office.  He is with the Hardcore Champion Superquake Ferguson.  Gumbo tells him that a lot is riding on this match.  Ferguson tells the King that once he decimates these two nobodies, he wants Magnum Kone in the ring at Critical Mass.  Gumbo tells him that if he dominates the match tonight, he will get his wish.

The next match begins with the Duchess making her way out to the ring and she gets a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, Figgy Newton comes out (booed heavily) and he introduces Taylor Bella.  The two head down to the ring.  Figgy made his presence known throughout the match and the Duchess almost took his head off.  The interference kept the Duchess off her game.  Figgy began to verbally antagonize the Duchess and that allowed Taylor to hit a Sitout Facebuster and roll up the Duchess (with a handful of tights) for the 1-2-3.  Taylor Bella steals a win.  The Duchess isn’t happy and forcibly throws Taylor out of the ring.  She then challenges Taylor to a match at Critical Mass but says she wants Figgy banned from ringside.  Taylor and Figgy talk about it but they walk off before agreeing to the match.  (14 min)

We are back in King Rad’s office for what we hope is the last time tonight and he says he has a huge announcement to make.  He says that 2018 will have a Hall of Fame and the first person to be nominated was one of the most controversial wrestlers ever to lace up boots:  CJ!  CJ/#CJ/King CJ/Conan Jones is the first member of the class of 2018!

It’s time for our main event.  First, Niven and Tobias Snake come out first and get a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, the Hardcore Champion Superquake Ferguson comes out and the fans boo him heavily.  The falls count anywhere match started off with the Snake pit double teaming Superquake but he exploded from underneath the barrage and just decimated the Pit.  Superquake began to dismantle his opponents just utterly destroying them.  The combined might of the Pit could not stop the onslaught that followed.  Superquake would chokeslam one and hit the other with the Cutting Edge.  Superquake kept up the destruction until he felt he was done.  9 minutes I’m sure seemed like an eternity to the Pit.  Superquake picked up Niven Snake and chokeslammed him over the top rope to the floor below.  He then grabbed Tobias and hit him with 3 consecutive Cutting Edges.  Superquake finally made the cover and got the easy 3 count.  Superquake gets the devastating win over the pin in what seemed like a cakewalk for him.  Superquake stood in the ring holding his title high.  Just as the show was about to come to an end, familiar music hits and out comes “The King of Cones” Magnum Kone.  Kone power walks to the ring.  He gets into Superquake face and the two begin to slug it out.  Magnum goes toe to toe with the giant and with a huge super punch, he sends Superquake over the top rope but he lands on his feet.  Security runs down and steps in between the two.  Superquake begins going through security like a hot knife but enough people show up and separate them.  Magnum remains in the ring beckoning Superquake to return but he doesn’t.

The show comes to an end with Superquake calling for Magnum’s head.
