HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016 #478 – Independence Day Beatdown PPV

Hello fans and welcome to our inaugural HCW PPV the event you’ve been waiting for – Independence Day Beatdown.  We are coming to you live from Phoenix, AZ.  Today’s show is sold out but available on PPV.  The fans here are pumped and ready to see who our new champions will be.  We feel that the tournaments brought out the best in quite a few of our wrestlers.  In fact, two different wrestlers, Drew, the Canadian Love Machine and Superstar Chic Monroe, had such successful runs in the tournaments that have yielded several attempts to win different titles.   However, due to the multiple title rule, if either wins one of the belts, they will forfeit any other matches they are in and their opponents for any of the following matches will automatically be awarded the title.  It’s not ideal but management doesn’t want one person holding multiple belts as it dilutes their ability to successfully defend those belts regularly (they want to avoid the “but I just wrestled and you want me to wrestle again?” crap).  Also announced is that all champions must defend their belts at least once every 30 days.  Pyro goes off as our inaugural PPV kicks off.

The first match will be for the World Tag Team titles.  First, the Smashers (w/MJ) make their way to the ring.  They are followed out by Drew the Canadian Love Machine and the Savior (w/ Master Bull).  Knowing that Drew would be wrestling 3x on the show, the Savior stepped up and wrestled the majority of the match taking a lot of the beatings so that Drew didn’t have to.  Master Bull gave his team some great advice but MJ assisted his team just a bit better (meaning he cheated more) and after distracting Bull and Drew, he slipped a foreign object to Smasher #1 who nailed the Savior with it. He makes the cover and the ref counted 1…2…3.  The Smashers defeated Drew & the Savior to become the NEW HCW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS.  The champs celebrated in the ring all the while being pelted by debris being hurled at them by the fans.  Eventually they left and we needed a short break to get stuff cleaned up.  (18 min)

Larry Morton is backstage with the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck).  Starbuck says that as former tag team champs (they can’t reference the old fed names anymore), they should have gotten further in the tag tournament but the Muscles Trio cost them their opportunity.  Buzz says that they will address the Muscles Trio and once they are done with them, whomever is holding the tag titles better watch out.

We cut over to where Clarkus Kentus is talking to GM Max McGillicutty.  Max says that the HCW is a ‘rebirth” and with all the fresh faces being brought in, he hopes they will fill the void left by the WWE, TNA and ROH wrestlers who were pulled because someone got too damn greedy (DAMN that Stephanie and her husband).

We head back to the ring for our next match which will be for the 6 Man tag team trophy.  As a reminder, the winners of this trophy are not tied to the “multiple title” rule as this really isn’t a title and would only be defended 3 - 4x a year.  First, the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel) come out with Biceps Bannerman.  They get a huge pop from the crowd.  The fans like them but it takes time for them to really mesh together.  On the other hand, their opponents Superstar Chic Monroe, Wendell Hammerschmidt and Billy Robbins all worked well together.  Chic would be wrestling multiple times tonight so he purposely limited his in-ring action and as good as his teammates are, that may have hurt them more than it helped.  Bannerman found his groove and made a huge impact over and over throughout the match.  Finally, after a Bannerman splash, he tagged out to Starbuck Steel who hit Wendell with the Shooting Star Buck and made the cover to get the 1…2…3.  The Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman have just become the NEW HCW 6 MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!  Chic Monroe leaves his team right away to go get ready for the rest of his matches. GM Max McGillicutty comes out and unveils the trophy and the fans pop.  This one was well earned.  (22 min)

We go back to the interview area where Larry Morton is interviewing the Axe. Morton comments on how well the Axe performed in the World title tournament and said that he finally feels Axe’s time is now. Axe says that a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders after sending former partner Dirk ‘the Pick’ Devon packing and now he can concentrate on just himself.  His performance is a perfect example of what someone can do when there is no dead weight around their necks.  Axe says he appreciates the talent of his opponent Outback Oscar and promises to make his long-time dream come true tonight.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  This one will be for the TV title.  First, Master Bull comes out with “the Elitist” Reid Rothchild.  Reid’s entrance is cut short when 5th Column member Ivan Dragovich (w/Ant Graham) comes out next.  Reid didn’t appreciate his time being cut short and he took it out on Ivan.  In fact, Reid probably hasn’t been this aggressive since his feud with Alexander Rusev.  Reid OWNED this match and all the advice Master Bull gave him really paid off.  Graham, sensing that Ivan could actually lose, blindsided Master Bull taking him out with a chair shot.  He then distracted Reid just long enough for Ivan to hit a low blow and then with a hook of the tights (and holding the ropes for leverage), he rolled Reid up for the win.  Reid was shocked.  Ivan Dragovich has just become the NEW HCW TV CHAMPION. Ivan had no time to celebrate his win as Reid grabbed the chair Graham used on Master Bull and chased them from the ring.  I’m sure Reid is going to fight for a rematch.  (15 ½ min)

Outback Oscar is backstage with Clarkus Kentus and he says he’s honored to be one of the finalists in the World title tournament.  He acknowledges that the Axe had a great run during the tournament but he did also and only one of them can be World Champion and says that it will be him.

We head back to the ring for one of our non-title matches.  Dr. Red Fang (w/MJ) vs Emerson “Turnip” Townsend is up next.  As Turnip is making his way to the ring, Fang comes out and attacks him and beats him silly all before the match could begin.  The ref wanted to throw the match out but cousin Wilber Townsend came out and told the ref to let the match begin.  It is a bloodbath.  This one didn’t take long as Fang destroyed poor Turnip.  Fang gets the win after nailing the Vampire Lunge (8 min).  Fang wanted to continue the beatdown but MJ led security from the back to “escort” Fang backstage.  Wilber, who had made his way to ringside for the match, entered the ring.  He shakes his head as he helps his cousin to his feet.  Wilber then viciously nailed Turnip with a haymaker turning on his cousin.  Wilber grabs a mic and yells “We ain’t blood no more!”  He drops the mic and leaves Turnip behind to be tended to by medics.

Backstage, MJ says he can’t control Fang and Ant Graham saunters over and agrees to take over the contract for Fang saying he’d be a perfect fit in the 5th Column.  MJ gladly signs the paperwork.  Graham meets up with Fang and tells the Dr. that MJ was too nice to manage a man like Fang and says he promises to let Fang “loose” on the HCW and he can do whatever he wants.  Fang smiles and snarls at the camera as the segment ends.

We go back to the ring for our next match which is for the United States Championship.   ‘Superstar’ Chic Monroe comes out first to an ok pop from the crowd.  Next, Drew, the Canadian Love machine comes out and the pop he gets is much louder.  Chic immediately went on the offensive but Drew was right there with him up until the 8th minute of the match and then the tide really turned in the Superstar’s direction.  Chic controlled the remainder of the match holding Drew to just a few offensive moves.  After nailing a Straight Jacket Suplex, he finally made the cover to get the 1, 2, and 3.  Superstar Chic Monroe has just become the NEW HCW US CHAMPION.  Drew leaves quietly obviously disappointed with his performance in this match.  He does have one final shot at gold.  Will the third time be the charm?  (15 min)

Jerry Saunders is interviewed backstage and he is asked why he has such a dislike of Phat Sol.  Saunders says Phat has everyone fooled and he’s not who everybody thinks he is.  It will be a matter of time before Phat’s real motives are revealed.

It’s time to head back to the ring for the finals for the Ladies title.  First, Kimberly Kiccass comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  The British Crippler comes out and damn, she sure has a hell of a presence.  Half the crowd pops, the other half boos.  She doesn’t care as she is here to wrestle.  Kimberly was dominated from the get go.  Ms. Crippler just destroyed Kimberly and it didn’t take long for her to hit the Natural Selection and make the cover for the 3 count.  The British Crippler def Kimberly Kiccass to become the 1st ever HCW Ladies Champion.  Ms. Crippler holds the title high as the fans have collectively decided NOT to cheer her anymore.  (8 ½ min)

Backstage, Ravishing Raquel meets the British Crippler and congratulates the champ and says she wants the first shot at taking her down.  The Brit says she will not give Raquel a shot off the bat but will give her a non-title match.  If Raquel can beat her, then she will deserve a title match.  Raquel walks off and meets up with Master Bull and tells him to make this happen.

Next, we have a specialty match with no title on the line.  Phat Sol vs. Jerry Saunders will be an I Quit match.  Phat dominated the match and Saunders tried to get counted out but the ref kept telling him to get back in the ring.  This happened multiple times and each time it brought Phat’s momentum to a screeching halt.   Phat would continue to battle but never went for the I Quit; he wanted to hurt Saunders.  After 15 minutes of beating Jerry down, he removed the turnbuckle cover.  He went to hurl Saunders into the corner but Jerry reversed it and Phat smashed his head against the exposed corner.  Jerry immediately pulled Phat to the middle of the ring and locked in a rear chinlock.  He told the ref to check if Phat was out or not.  The ref raised Phat’s arm once (it fell), twice (it fell) and a third time (fell again).  The ref calls for the bell awarding the match to Jerry Saunders.  Saunders immediately left the ring and stumbled to the back grateful the match is over.  Medics came out but by the time they got to the ring, Phat was up and questioning what just happened.  (Side note:  Phat never said I Quit.)

In the back, Drew is with the Savior and the Savior tries to give his tag team partner some words of wisdom.  Whatever he said must have worked because after their talk, Drew looked ready to go.

We go back to the ring for the finals for the Hardcore title.  Leiton Snake comes out first (his brothers do not accompany him out).  Fans are not sure how to take him so he gets a mixed reaction.  Drew, the Canadian Love Machine comes out accompanied by the Savior and his manager Master Bull and the fans POP HUGE for him.  The Savior shares some more words of wisdom and then watches as Drew and Bull make their way to the ring.  Drew gets in the ring and the ref says that the Hardcore rules for this match will be Lights Out rules.  Master Bull provides some words of wisdom and Drew is off like a rocket.  Leiton tried to slow down the CLM but alas, nothing would work.  Drew kept Leiton distracted and capitalized at every turn.  Drew finally was able to hit a corkscrew pescado and it was lights out for Leiton Snake.  With a hook of the leg, Drew got the 1-2-3.  Drew the Canadian Love Machine defeats Leiton Snake to become the 1st ever HCW Hardcore Champion.  The Savior and Master Bull joined Drew in the ring as he celebrated with the fans.  (17 ½ min)

Backstage, newcomers The Duchess and El Gato Negro almost came to blows again.  GM Max McGillicutty broke it up and told the two that with only one match left on the card, they have some free time to let these two fight it out in the ring.  Max says he’s giving them both 20 minutes and both ladies are happy to oblige.

The Duchess vs El Gato Negro is up next.  Both women fought their way down to the ring.  The ref started the match as soon as both entered the ring.  This was no wrestling match…this was a fight.  Both ladies tore into each other.  The Duchess had a slight advantage over her opponent but El Gato Negro was much faster.  The two traded both pin and submission attempts.  Just as the match was winding down, the Duchess locked in the “All Hail Her Majesty” and tried to get El Gato to tap out but she just wouldn’t quit. After pounding on her a few minutes more, El Gato Negro surprised the Duchess by locking in a Wall-O-Cato (tarantula) and tried to get the Duchess to quit but she didn’t.  Finally, the bell rang signaling the time limit draw but neither were ready to quit.  The two fought all the way back to the dressing room.  (20 min)

GM Max McGillicutty comes out one final time and says it is time for the main event.  Max first introduces Outback Oscar who gets a decent pop.  Next, the Axe comes out and the fans just aren’t sure about him as he WAS teamed with Dirk Devon and they were not exactly nice to the fans.  However, Axe shook hands with the fans as he made his way to ringside.  Apparently, his son was there in the front row cheering on his dad.  Axe dedicates the match to him.  The Axe stared off strong but soon the Australian superstar started taking the match to him.  Oscar kept Axe off his feet by taking them out with legsweeps but that only forced Axe to take his game to the mat and began to out-wrestle Oscar.  Oscar started to get frustrated and began choking Axe in the corner. He broke the hold just seconds before he was about to be disqualified.  Oscar charges Axe and eats a belly to belly suplex.  Axe starts to “hulk” up and nails a second belly to belly suplex.  Oscar sets up a swinging neckbreaker but Axe reverses it and almost decapitates Oscar with the Axe.  He makes the cover and the ref counts 1…2…3.  The Axe has just defeated Outback Oscar to become the NEW HCW WORLD CHAMPION!!!  Balloons and streamers fall from the ceiling and Axe’s son joins him in the ring to celebrate.  The show comes to an end with Axe and his son posing with the World title.

Thanks for reading.  Stay tuned for more action.

That is all for now.  Stay Tuned for our next “Get to Know” episode.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016  - Get to know:

Hello fans and welcome back to our next issue of HCW:  Get to know.  For this one, we go abroad and discover some of the talent that’s been eluding the world for so long.

From Australia
Outback Oscar.  Just like his name implies, he is from the Outback.  Oscar is somewhat a local celebrity; he is truly a favorite of those in the land down under when out of the ring, he is treated like royalty.  Hope he understands that he’ll have to earn that here if he wants that recognition.

His tag team partner is The Crocodile Hunter.  Croc hails from Sydney originally and he wears what looks like a tattoo bodysuit but in reality it is images of crocodile skin.  When he originally debuted, the local promoters wanted him to wear a tail.  That lasted about 5 seconds.  For a short term, he did bring a baby crocodile to ringside but once its handlers lost control of it at one show, they stopped doing that.

From Spain
Handsome Hernandez.  Hernandez is a wealthy Spaniard who feels that the world owes him everything and he wants to own the world.  He bought his way into the HCW and says that like a famous wrestler from the 90’s, “everyone has a price” and we won’t be surprised if he tries to buy his way to championship titles.

(f) El Gato Negro:  The Black Cat was raised in a Spanish monastery where she was taught first how to fight then to wrestle starting at age 6.  The Spanish monks took her off the street where she would pickpocket just to survive. She would distract would-be marks with her marionettes and then relieve them of their valuables.   The monks were able to reform her and with her solid background in wrestling (no longer a thief…we hope), she should make an interesting addition to our team.

From England, we have 3 women who, as a team, are referred to as the “Queen’s Court”.
(f) Queen Beckett is the leader of the team and she commands respect from those who follow.  Beckett appears to actually be tied to a royal bloodline but she has no interest in politics and wants to “rule” the world of professional wrestling.  Her “enforcer” on the team is (f) The British Crippler.  The Crippler actually trained in Canada but eventually moved to England.  She comes from a prominent family who were happy to see her put her size and talents to good use in the ring.  We think she actually may end up being the dominant one. Finally, (f) Lady Hermann is the ‘heir apparent’ to the “throne” if you will.   Her Ladyship wants to become the leader of the team and even though she follows the lead of the Queen, we think she’s secretly plotting to overthrow Beckett and assume the top spot in the Court.

Also hailing from England is Superstar Chic Monroe.  Monroe reminds us of Antonio Cesaro and he is probably pound for pound, the most solid wrestler being brought in to the HCW.  Monroe will be teaming up with some of his European buddies to try and grab all the gold.

From the Celtic Islands, we have (f) The Duchess.
The Duchess’ story is actually a sad one.  She was born into nobility and lived a privileged life until, at the age of 16, tragedy struck and she was out on her own.  She has a dislike for Spaniards since they were the cause of her tragedy.  Vikings ended up taking her in where they taught her how to fend for herself. She shocked the Vikings with her determination and aggressiveness they’d not have expected from one of noble blood.  3 years later, she met El Gato Negro and was instantly reminded of what she lost years ago.  She holds El Gato Negro responsible and has a huge dislike of her and her people.  The two fought around England with neither getting the upper hand of their feud.  I suppose that will continue here.

We bring it back to the US to introduce Adam Jameson and Billy Robbins.  Both men are masked and appear to be the same size and build as AJ Styles and Austin Aries respectively.  These two look great in the ring and I suppose it doesn’t matter what they really look like but what they can accomplish in the ring.

HCW is proud to announce the hiring of a new manager – The Ambassador.  The Ambassador says that there are some good men who could use his guidance.  When asked who he would be taking on, he said Wilber & his cousins.  He sees great potential in all of them but especially Wilber and wants to be a part of that revolution.

HCW (f) superstar Ravishing Raquel (alongside her husband “the Elitist” Reid Rothchild) questions Master Bull as to why he isn’t managing her.  Bull says he’s promised Reid to lead him to gold and that is his first and most important task at hand.  Raquel tells Bull that she and Reid are a package.  If he manages one, he has to manage the other.  Raquel says that after the PPV, she will throw out a challenge to the Ladies Champion and expects Bull to be in her corner for that match.

After the destructive annihilation of Turnip Townsend by Dr. Red Fang, Wilber Townsend berated the youngster for his lack of fighting spirit (even if he is half the size of most male wrestlers here).  Wilber goes to GM Max and requests another “indoctrination” for his younger cousin and asks Max to make another match between Turnip and Fang.  Wilber says “he has to learn and grow up sometime.”

Lastly, GM Max McGillicutty says he’s had enough of both Phat Sol and Jerry Saunders attacking each other during their matches and decides to give them an outlet at the PPV.  Max decrees that Sol vs Saunders will be an “I Quit” match.  He also addressed the tension between El Gato Negro and the Duchess.  Max says he’ll give them an opportunity to showcase their talents.

Our PPV is up next.  Stay tuned!!!

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016 – #476 - Get to know:

Hello fans and welcome back to our next round of "Get to Know".  Today, we start off with someone with a questionable past.

Jerry Saunders – not a lot is known about the man who entered the world of professional wrestling posing as Dr. Red Fang’s cameraman.  We know he has a history with Phat Sol and that Phat was genuinely surprised to see him after revealing his identity (he’s been costing Phat some matches as of late).  They share a past that neither man wants to elaborate on.  Maybe Phat needs a few drinks in him and then he’ll open up.

The Snake Family:  Leiton, Niven and Tobias are brothers hailing from Badstreet USA.  The team had been trained by Freebird member Michael P.S. Hayes.  They have their street cred and are ready to bring it to the ring.  Tobias appears to be the frontman for this team as the others follow his lead.

The Shockmaster – Hailing from Parts Unknown, this version of the Shockmaster is not the same as the one from the 90’s.  Although he still wears the glitter covered Stormtrooper helmet, this guy is a much younger, in-shape version of his predecessor.   The Shockmaster speaks through a voicebox to make his opponents uneasy and put them on edge.

From Japan
Smasher #1 & 2 – these two masked men are nothing short of bullies.  Part of their dress pays homage to perhaps one of the greatest tag teams ever – The Legion of Doom – the Road Warriors.  They appear to be pretty tough (as opposed to a team who thought they were tough – the Ascension).  Upon arriving in the US, they were met by HCW manager MJ who immediately signed them to a contract even though he claimed to not have anyone signed yet.  SHOCKER.

Perfect Pecs Stoddard is perfect example of an Adonis with the ego and narcissistic attitude that accompanies it.  Stoddard would travel between Japan and China and would always follow the big paycheck.  He’s has no allegiance to anyone except those who throw the bucks his way.

Superquake Ferguson is a mountain of a man.  Based on his size, he was originally billed as a relative to the late Andre the Giant but Ferguson is in better shape.  He’s dominated everywhere he went in Asia but mainly stayed in Japan.  While in Japan, Ferguson teamed with Angry Jack Lawson and they came close many times to becoming tag team champs.  From time to time, after losing a “loser leaves town” match, the “Superquake Machine” would show up and stick around long enough for Ferguson to “return”.

(f) Lexy Flexx wears her hair in multi-colors and pound for pound is probably the toughest SOB on the ladies roster.  She has a lot to prove here in the HCW and she looks determined and ready for a fight.

(f) Missy Chick is relatively new to the wrestling scene.  Missy has not had much in the way of formal in-ring training but says she’s studied thousands of hours of matches from all the greats and feels she’s ready to make an impact.

MJ, manager of the Smashers, has just dropped a bombshell stating that he is bringing into his stable, an individual mean and nasty as he is…Dr. Red Fang!  Can MJ control the Dr. or will Fang control him???

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2016 #474 - Get to know:

Hello fans and welcome back to the HCW:  Get to know segment.  Today, we have a large group of individuals to introduce to you.

First, we start with the Townsend/Huber Clan.  Wilber Townsend and his clan hail from the Deep Woods in Arkansas.  Wilber is very creepy looking (appears to not know what a razor is).  He has his little cousin Emerson “Turnip” Townsend tagging along (think a cross between Spike Dudley & Chris Von Erich). Turnip is too small to be a wrestler and would just get killed if he stepped foot in the ring.   Nothing short of a “super soldier serum” would help him out at all.  Poor guy. Wilber, on the other hand, is a bit portly but he knows how to handle himself in the ring.  He speaks in monologues and reminds me of something out of the movie “Deliverance”.

The Hubers are cousins of Wilber and are just as creepy looking.  Ferb Huber, Butch Huber and “Mountain Man” Junior Huber make up the trio.  Junior’s real name is Zeke but he hates that name and prefers Junior instead.  Butch is the older sibling with Junior being the youngest.  These guys are just brutes and blindly take their orders from Wilber.  They excel in 6 man tag team action and will prove to be a team to be reckoned with.

From “The Big Top” in Circustown, USA, we have the Muscles Family.  Muscles McGuire, Thorpe and Weasley round out this trio.  These guys will most likely be the comedy relief of the HCW and draw laughs and applause from the crowds wherever they go.  They like to run around wearing rainbow colored bull horns on their heads.  The kids seem to love them so we’re thinking they may be a cash cow when it comes to merchandising.  We’ve seen them in action too and their opponents should not take them lightly.

The next bunch of guys were found locally and, although not an official team, they are referred to as “The California Connection”. First, we have “Dude USA” Mick Rude:  Dude U.S.A. 6'½" tall and 269#. Kind of a Dude Love rip off with a Ravishing Rick Rude finisher aptly named "The Dude Awakening".  Next we have Jesse California.  Jesse is a pretty boy with a sculpted physique.  He claims to have been held back in other federations but says that will not happen here.  Jesse says he’s bringing his A-Game and promises to win gold.  The Gold Standard Bruce Biltmore and his partner The Hollywood Star both hail from Hollywood, CA and dress in gold outfits.  They too are a bit on the odd side as they use their physical appearance to throw their opponents off their game and then capitalize with their talent.

Two of our newest female members include (f) Jazz Emmett who hails from NY and has trained with some of the greats such as Trish Status and Lita.  (f) Kimberly Kiccass is a protégé of bombshell Gail Kim.  Kimberly trained in Hawaii and comes with a lot of experience under her belt.  She is eager to showcase her talents.

Newly turned manager Master Bull has finalized the contracts with the Savior & Drew the Canadian Love Machine and in a surprising turn of events, included the Fiend.  Bull adds these three to his #1 draft pick “The Elitist” Reid Rothchild.  Bull says that just because he manages all four men does not mean all will become part of a faction like Prestige Inc. was.  Bull wants to keep Reid and the Fiend in singles action only and will concentrate his efforts to bring the Canadian Express (his words, not ours) to tag team glory.  If tag team gold eludes them, he is not against taking them into singles territory.  Bull says the Fiend, the Savior and Drew will be referred to as “The Static Age” when teaming together.

That is all for now.  Stay tuned as we work our way to crowning new champs.

Due to a double elimination between the 5th Column and the Steel Curtain/Biceps Bannerman, the team of Chic Monroe, Wendell Hammerschmidt & Billy Robbins advance right to the championship.  However, Max says he in good conscious can’t let this happen and sets up a rematch between the 5th Column and the Steel Curtain/Bannerman again and the winner of that match will go on to fight for the championship at the PPV.

The Steel Curtain & Biceps Bannerman def. the 5th Column to advance to the finals (despite interference from both manager Ant Graham and Ivan Dragovich) to face Chic, Wendell &Robbins.

That is it for this show.  Be sure to tune back in as there are more championships to be determined.
