HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #883 – 02/03

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  In a continuing effort to get caught up on shows, we will continuing doing the quick match recap except for high profile feuds and title matches.

 

Match #1:  Maximillian Redbeard vs Baron von Blood.  The match was pretty even until the ref got accidentally bumped 5 minutes in.  Baron then went to the corner and removed the turnbuckle cover.  The then blasted Redbeard’s head into the exposed bracket busting him up.  He then locked on the Brain Klaw as the ref was recovering.  He came over and saw Redbeard wasn’t responding and called for the bell awarding the match to Baron von Blood via submission.  Baron laughed as he left the ring.  It wasn’t until a moment later that the ref saw the turnbuckle cover removed. 

 

Match #2:  Col. Flagg vs Jack Lumber.   The flannel wearing lumberjack came out first to a huge pop from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and gets the fans to chant “Choppin’ Wood and Lookin’ Good”.  Flagg came out next as “AAAAATENSHUNNNNNN” blared from the loudspeakers.  Flagg is booed heavily as he makes his way to the ring.  Flagg entered the ring with confidence but it failed him.  Jack beat the snot out of him just dominating the entire match.  Finally and mercifully, he ended the match at the 12 minute mark and dropping Flagg with ‘the Axe’.

 

Match #3:  The Steel Curtain vs the Hubers.  Ferb and Junior Huber make their way out first as the fans boo.  The Steel Curtain come out next with their portion of the Six Man titles.  4 minutes into the match, both Ferb and Junior were ‘injured’ but a distraction from the World Tag Team Champs Apollo Gyze and Dash Woodbrick kept them from capitalizing.  A few minutes later, the Hubers were back up and running.  Dash provided a distraction which caused Buzz to miss a Buzzkill attempt and got caught up in a Lifting Arm Triangle Choke by Junior.  Ferb took Starbuck down and with no one to make the save, Buzz tapped out.  The Hubers steal a win tonight with interference from the Tag Team Champs.  I’m sure the Steel Curtain will have something to say about this later.

 

Match #4:  Goldie Locks vs Betsy Cummings.  The match proved a little tougher than expected with one half of the resident twins gave Goldie a run for her money but in the end, Goldie was able to wrest control of the match and secure a pin after hitting the Lock Breaker.  The fans pop as Goldie has her arm raised in victory.

 

Match #5:  For the Anytime/Anywhere Championship.  Walking backstage, AA champion Scooter J is with his tag team partner TNT when they are ambushed by Ghee Buttersnaps who happens to have a ref in tow.  Scooter J ends up taking the match to the ring and they continue their fight there.  Even after putting up a good fight, he was no match for the champ.  Scooter J choked Ghee on the ropes and broke the hold when the ref demanded and immediately went for the pin and got the 3 count.  Scooter J retains his title.

 

Match 6: the Main Event:   World Tag team Champions Apollo and Dash vs Master Bull and TBA.  In a turn of events, the Tag Team Champions Dash Woodbrick and Apollo Gyze came out first.  They make their way to the ring.  Master Bull then comes out and they mock him saying he couldn’t find someone who wanted to be in his corner.  Apollo said Bull with have to forfeit or it will be a handicap match if he wants to continue without a partner.  Bull corrects them saying he found someone and then introduces… Phat Sol.  Phat comes out and he and Master Bull shake hands and make their way to the ring.  Once there, after the ref does his customary explanation of the rules, the match begins.  Throughout the first 19 minutes of the match, the champs went for the pin multiple times but couldn’t get the 3 count.   We join the match now at the 20 min mark.

Apollo and Dash get the win and retain their titles.  The fans boo them heavily and Apollo flips them off in response.  That just riles them up all the more.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #882 – 01/27

 

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  You may have noticed that our newsletters have been a bit sparse as of late.  Washington State has suffered from additional lockdowns due to the pandemic so fans allowed into the building have been limited.  In an effort to get caught up on the shows, the next 4 issues will be recap issues except in high-profile feuds or title matches.

 

Match 1:  Violet Valkyrie vs Lavender Gooms:  Violet makes quick work of Lavender pinning her after hitting a running one-handed bulldog.  After the match, Ladies Champion Korbi Kong power walked down to the ring and Violet exited (stage left) and took off through the crowd before Korbi could get her hands on her.  Frustrated, she picked up Lavender and hit a slingshot suplex.  The crowd popped for her and she left the ring.  (11 min)

 

Match #2:  The Regulators vs Otto Ruthless and Talon McFrost:  The match began pretty even but the Regulators ended up taking control and at the 25 minute mark, Mule and Mammoth grabbed Otto and Talon and (much to the fans’ delight), hurled them into each other with a resounding CRASH!  After that, there wasn’t much left as Mule hit Talon with a Regulator Roundhouse and pinned him for the uncontested 3 count.  The Regulator win the match.

 

Match #3:  Davis Hoffmeister vs Apollo Gyze.  Apollo came out by himself after his trademark phrase “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” blared through the speakers.  The co-holder of the Tag Team title made his way down to boos from the crowd.  ‘The Hoff’ Davis Hoffmeister came out next to the loudest pop of the night.  Apollo attacked him before the match began.  As soon as the bell rang though, Davis OWNED Apollo.   Apollo tried on a few occasions to leave but Davis wasn’t done with the ass-whupping.  At the 15 minute mark, Davis locked Apollo in the Hollywood (camel) Clutch but Apollo wouldn’t tap so Davis turned it into a pin attempt and got the 3 count.  The fans pop as Davis leaves the ring.  Apollo kept complaining to the ref who responded with “I don’t apologize either”.  Apollo left in a huff.

 

Match #4:  TV Title Match:  Texas Wildfire © vs Wilber Townsend.  Wilber came out first as the lights dimmed.  He was by himself as his cohorts Talon and Otto were otherwise indisposed.  Wilber carried a single lantern that swung as he walked to the ring.  As the lights came up, we could see him wearing his creepy Pennywise-like mask.  He didn’t take it off so he must be wrestling with it on.  Texas Wildfire came out next and he looked disturbed by Wilber’s mask.  He got to the ring and Wilber immediately was on the offense (both physically and mentally) as he dominated Wildfire.  16 minutes in, the Banker came out and while Wilber distracted the ref, the Banker smashed TW with his loaded briefcase knocking him out.  The Banker then took off.  Wilber began planting TW with elbow smashes and then finally rolled him up (with a handful of tights) and got the 1-2-3.  Wilber Townsend is the NEW TV Champion.  The fans boo him heavily but he doesn’t seem to care.  Wildfire, bloodied from the elbow shots, grabs a mic.  He says in two weeks, he is enacting his rematch clause.  Wilber nods he’ll accept the match.  “However”, TW continues, “to ensure the Banker keeps his nose out of my business, it will be within the confines of a STEEL CAGE.”  Wilber smiles and nods before walking away.  Wildfire wipes the blood from his face and leaves the ring.

 

Match #5: the Main Event:  For the World Championship.  First, 1/3 of the Six Man Tag Team Champions Biceps Bannerman comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  The reason Bannerman is getting this shot is because, during a non-televised battle royal, Bannerman eliminated the Wicked Prophet securing this shot.  He high fives with the fans and makes his way to the ring.  The music changes almost immediately and out comes the World Champion and King of HCW the Wicked Prophet.  Prophet walks to the ring like a man on a mission.  He hands his title to the ref and immediately gets into Bannerman’s face.

The King the Wicked Prophet wins the match and retains his title in dominating fashion.  He takes his title from the ref and climbs the turnbuckle holding it high.  The fans boo but he doesn’t care.

 

With that, the show comes to an end.  Hoping to get caught up right away so stay tuned.

 

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #881 – 1/20

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Not much in the way of pre-match information other than the Six Man titles will be on the line with the Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman taking on the Muscles Trio and in the Main event, Ladies Champion Korbi Kong will be defending her title against the winner of the matchup between Catalina Harper and Sarona Reiher.  That qualifying match is up first.

 

Pyro goes off and our show is ready to get underway.  The number 1 and number 2 seeds (Catalina and Sarona respectively) have a showdown to see who meets the Ladies Champion in tonight’s main event.  First, Sarona comes out to booing from the crowd.  She goes over to one particular fan and grabs him by the collar and threatens to punch him.  Security is right there to save that fan.  Sarona makes her way into the ring and makes a breaking motion showing what she’s going to do to Catalina next.  The music changed and out comes Catalina Harper to a nice pop from the crowd.  She interacts with the fans and makes her way to the ring.  Sarona blocks her attempt to enter and it takes the ref taking her to the opposite side of the ring to allow Catalina entrance.  She finally makes it in, removes her jacket and the bell rings starting this one off.   To say that the match was all that even would not have even been remotely correct.  Catalina dominated as she did when she held the title and champion or not, she proved she wanted this more.  Sarona took her to 14 minutes but ended falling victim to the Cat’s Meow.  Catalina made the cover and got the 3 count.  With the win, she gets the title shot in tonight’s main event.  (14 min)

 

Backstage, Jesse California is mocking Jack Lumber for being eliminated (in a non-televised tournament) by him.  Jack says that everyone has an off day and if Jesse wants his to be tonight, he’d be happy to oblige.  Jesse accepts.

 

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, the Bounty Hunter Jake Montrose comes out to booing from the crowd.  He makes his way into the ring and does his best to ignore them.  Next, Derek Deveraux makes his way out.  Jake jumps out of the ring to attack him and get the match started early but Derek had been doing his homework and expected it so he was prepared.  The match was even until a backbreaker in the 3^rd minute of the match gave the Bounty Hunter a lead however it didn’t last.  Just 60 seconds later, Derek catches Jake with release powerbomb.  He rolls him up securely hooking the leg and gets the 3 count.   Derek gets the win and continues to rack up the wins.  He celebrates with the fans briefly before heading to the back.

 

Backstage, the Six Man Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain are congratulating their teammate Biceps Bannerman on securing the #1 contender spot for the World Title.  Bannerman says he’s excited about the match but he is not taking his eye off their prize.  Tonight, they take on the tricky Muscles Trio and don’t plan on losing.  Buzz and Starbuck both lean in and say “Word”.

 

We go back to the ring for our next match.  First, the loudspeaker blares out “Choppin’ wood and Lookin’ good” and out comes everyone’s favorite flannel wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber.  Lumber stops at the Lumber Lounge to talk briefly with his fans before continuing on to the ring.  Jesse California comes out interrupting Jack’s interaction with the fans.  Jesse even stops by the Lumber Lounge and SPITS on the person closest to him.  He laughs as the fan tried to grab him.  He shakes his head and wags his finger and continues on to the ring.  Jack is irate at Jesse for disrespecting the fans…especially one who is a card carrying member of the Lumber Lounge.  Jack forces the match to begin before Jesse was ready and it didn’t go exactly his way.  For 15 minutes, Jesse controlled the pace of the match.  Jesse tossed Jack to the outside to give himself a breather.  The fan who got spit on by Jesse ran up to the railing and provided his hero some words of wisdom.  Jack found his second win and began taking the match to Jesse.   Jack planted Jesse with a Yukon bodyslam and followed it up with “TIMMMBERRRRR”.  Jesse, stunned, is dropped to the mat after an atomic drop.  Jack went for the pin but Jesse kicked out.  Jack quickly got to his feet and as Jesse made it to his, Jack hits another Yukon bodyslam.  He makes the cover, securely hooking the leg and gets the 1-2-3.  Jack gets the win and the ref raises his arm in victory.  Jack is immediately ambushed by the “fan” who gave him words of wisdom.  He removed his mask (protection from covid) and it’s none other than Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  Drew beats an exhausted Jack down and hits a corkscrew pescado following it up with a Lover Bomb.  The fans boo the crap out of Drew who doesn’t seem to care.  He stands over Jack laughing.  He eventually leaves.  The ref helped Jack to his feet and he was able to make it to the back on his own.  (19 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

 

Backstage, Catalina Harper is interviewed.  She says she fought tooth and nail to get to this point and now she gets a rematch for the title she lost a month ago.  She says Korbi is one of the toughest competitors in HCW she’s ever met and looks forward to a chance to regain the title.

 

We go back to the ring for our first title match of the evening.  First, the Muscles Trio come out wearing their rainbow colored bull horns and carrying their boxes of ‘Booty O’s” cereal.  They get a mixed reaction from the fans as we all know who the favorites are.  After the Muscles got into the ring, the music changed and out comes the Six Man Tag Team Champions Buzz and Starbuck Steel and Biceps Bannerman.  They get the loudest pop of the night so far.  They high five with the fans and make their way down to the ring.  They enter the ring and the match begins.  Not sure what was going on in the minds of the champs but they were not at the top of their game.  The Trio practically owned the last half of the match.  The champs, you could tell, were starting to show some signs of desperation.  In the 23^rd minute of the match, Buzz hurled Muscles Thorpe out of the ring.  Starbuck jumped in and then launched himself over the top rope taking Thorpe to the floor.  Thorpe was not able to make it back to his feet and into the ring before the 10 count so he ended up getting counted out.  The Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman get the win via count out and retain the titles.  The champs interact with the crowd before heading to the back.

 

Backstage, Ladies Champion Korbi Kong says that Catalina was a tremendous champion but her time has passed.  Tonight, her reign as champion continues.

 

It’s time for our main event.  First, Catalina Harper comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  She begins to make her way to the ring when she is attacked from behind by Violet Valkyrie.  Violet drags her to the ring and hurls her into the steel steps.  She then whips Catalina into the steel post head first busting her open.  Security comes out and takes Violet to the back.  Violet laughs as she is escorted to the back.  The ref checks on her and asks if she wants to continue or postpone.  Catalina says she worked hard to get back to this point so give her a band aid and let’s get this match going.  “KORBI KONG SMASH” blares through the loudspeakers and out comes the Ladies Champion.  Korbi gets one of the loudest pops of the night.  She stands on the stage and holds her title high.  She begins to walk to the ring intermittently high fiving with the fans.  She gets into the ring and climbs the turnbuckle.  The fans pop gets louder as she holds her title high.  She steps down and checks on Catalina.  Catalina says she wants to continue.  Korbi hands the title to the ref and this match gets underway.
