HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #846 (6/3/20)



Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.   On the card today, Phat Sol defends the Anytime/Anywhere title; the King and World Champion the Wicked Prophet defends the World title and a whole lot more.  After pyro goes off, we head backstage with J9.


Hello fans.  I’m J9 and I’m here to bring you the behind the scenes action with the superstars of HCW. First, I’d like to bring in the A/A Champion Phat Sol.  Phat, tonight, you take on Ovaltine Jackson for that belt.  What are your thoughts?

Phat Sol:  J9, great to be here and happy to be defending my title anytime, anywhere against all comers.  Tonight, I get Ovaltine Jackson and he’s one tough dude.  I won’t be taking him lightly but I’m confident I’ll be walking out with my title intact.

J9:  Great to hear.  Good luck with your match.

PS:  Thanks.  And thanks to the fans for supporting me.  This belt is for you.

Phat Sol leaves but before we can cut off, ‘Sassy Maxine DeVito walks over and forcibly takes the mic from J9.  “Everywhere I turn, someone is out to screw me out of something.  I held the Money in the Bank contract but then “lost” my shot to that upstart Korbi Kong.  I’m supposed to be the top contender but now I’m told I have to wrestle Hayley Hailstorm.  While I don’t have anything bad to say about her, this is bullsh!t that management keeps trying to hold me back.  Mark my words, I’ll do what I have to in order to get my Ladies title back.  Catalina or whomever ends up being the champion, I’m coming for that belt and I will regain it.”  Maxine then walks off with J9 being left speechless.

Our first match is ready to get underway.  First, Ovaltine Jackson makes his way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He interacts with the fans briefly before entering the ring.   Next, the music changed and out comes the Anytime/Anywhere Champion Phat Sol.  Phat also interacts with the fans (or phans as he calls them) and then enters the ring.  He hands the title to the ref who starts the match.  The match was even or slightly in Ovaltine’s favor for the first 6 minutes of the match but then the champ began kicking things into high gear.  He dominated Ovaltine and got a few near falls but couldn’t keep Jackson down.  As the time limit entered the final minute, Phat hits the Phat’s Enough pretty much out of nowhere and made the cover hooking the leg to get the 1-2-3 just before the time limit was set to expire.  Phat Sol gets the win and retains his title.  The fans pop for him as he takes his title from the ref.  He walked over and helped Ovaltine to his feet and the two shook hands.  They then went to the back.  (19 1/2 min)

We go backstage again with J9 and she’s with Hayley Hailstorm and her manager Matt Preacher.  Preacher speaks up for Hayley saying that Maxine and do all the huffing and puffing she wants but she will NEVER be on Hayley’s level.  Hayley says that she respects Maxine for what she’s done in the business but tonight is not about respect; it’s about moving forward.  She feels she’s been on the backburner for too long and tonight, she moves up the rankings and will have a Ladies title match in the near future.  They leave and head to the ring.

Our next match is ready to get underway.

      
     VS.        

‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito comes out first to massive booing from the crowd.  She is wearing the colors of her logo which comes from her favorite team the Chicago Cubs.  She gets into the ring and jaw jacks with the fans until the music changed and out comes Hayley Hailstorm with her manager Matt Preacher.  The two head down to the ring and Hayley enters while Preacher stays on the outside.  The match begins and Hayley dominates Maxine.  At the five minute mark, Hayley connects with the What the Hail but doesn’t go for the pin.  She then drops Maxine with a lariat and makes the slow cover only to get a 1 count.  Maxine is up on her feet fast and hurls Hayley out of the ring.  She follows her out; throwing a warning finger in Preacher’s direction before hurling Hayley into the steel steps.  She stands over Hayley but keeps an ear open to the ref’s count.  Just before he reached 10, Maxine rolled back in the ring and Hayley gets counted out.  Maxine gets the win by count out and she is booed as she gloats and then makes her way to the back.  Preacher helped Hayley up and they made their way to the back also.  (6 ½ min)



The loudspeakers blare “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” and out comes Apollo who is booed heavily.  He makes his way to the ring.  He gets on the mic and called out Drew the Canadian Love Machine challenging him for his spot in the TV title line up.  Drew comes out and says he accepts the challenge.  Drew makes his way to the ring but before the match can begin, the loudspeakers light up with “Choppin’ wood and lookin’ good”.  The TV Champion Jack Lumber comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He goes to sit at commentary so that he can scout the match.  Apollo looks on with disdain.  The bell rings and this one is off.  The match remained pretty close with Apollo going for the pin more often than Drew but it didn’t get him anywhere as Drew would immediately kick right out.  At the 11 minute mark, Apollo went for the Gorilla press drop moonsault but Drew moved and Apollo landed hard on the mat.  Jack began laughing.  Apollo got mad and got caught in the La Casita by Drew.  Drew went to capitalize on it but Apollo hurled him out of the ring and right into Jack.  Jack, pissed, got up but Apollo came flying through the ropes in a suicide dive taking both Jack and Drew out in the process.  Apollo rolled back in the ring and sat in the corner as the ref counted 1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9…10.  Drew gets counted out and the match and the spot in the top 10 are awarded to Apollo Gyze.  Apollo stands there laughing but that laughter is cut short when Drew and Jack chase Apollo to the back.  (11 ½ min)

We had to the office of the GM where Max McGillicutty is sitting.  He tells us that the Meltdown PPV is only a month away and says that even though no matches have officially been announced (that will start next week), he thinks this one will be one for the record books.  He also tells us that tickets are now on sale and he has gotten permission to have this one event take place in the old stomping grounds of the (now retired) Phoenix Heat brand.  Yep, the show will be coming to you live from Phoenix, AZ.  More details will be released over the next few weeks and reminds everyone in attendance and at home to get their tickets early.

Our next match is ready to get underway.
    
        VS       


The loudspeakers once again blare.  “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYBODY” and out comes the evil, diabolical Dr. Red Fang and his manager the Ambassador.  Fang snarls, growls and hisses at the fans as he makes his way down and into the ring.  He gets into the ring and continues his menacing ways until the music changes and out comes Texas Wildfire.  The fans pop huge for him as he makes his way down to the ring.  He high fives a few fans and then slides in under the bottom rope.  Fang goes right after him but TW ducks and rushes the ropes and then hits a flying tackle that sends Fang tumbling out of the ring.  Once the bell rang, TW controlled the pace of the match.  TW starts off with a hangman’s clothesline and a 1 count.  Fang went for the Transylvania piledriver but TW nullified it.  TW dazes Fang with a bionic elbow and gets a 2 count.  After some back and forth, TW slams Fang into the turnbuckles and goes for a pin but only gets a 1 count as the Ambassador put Fang’s foot on the bottom rope.  At the 15 minute mark, the Ambassador pushed the ref “by accident” but pleaded so he didn’t get Fang disqualified.  Wildfire hit a superplex but before he could capitalize on it, the Ambassador tripped him at the ropes.  TW smashes Fang’s head into the turnbuckle and the Ambassador pushed the ref again but Wildfire at the same time hit Fang with the Hangman’s Clothesline.  The ref ignored the Ambassador and counted (maybe a little quick as he was perturbed with the interfering manager) 1-2-3.  Texas Wildfire gets the win and the fans pop huge for him.  He leaves the ring and the Ambassador climbs in the ring to jaw jack with the ref accusing him of a fast count.  He pushes the ref who by now is fed up and pushes back sending the Ambassador on his butt.  Dr. Red Fang rushed back in to the aid of his manager and started to go after the ref but then Texas Wildfire was back in with a steel chair.  Fang backed down and he and the Ambassador left.  The ref thanked TW and Wildfire actually raised the arm of the ref.  The fans popped again.  They left the ring heading to the back.  (18 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

J9 is once again backstage with Talon McFrost.  Talon says he is destined for greatness and tonight, it comes at the hands of the Wicked Prophet.  J9 warns him not to underestimate the King or his crafty manager Dash “Pain in the Ass” Woodbrick.  Talon says he’s a veteran who’s seen everything.  Nothing Prophet can do will surprise him and if Dash sticks his nose in his (Talon’s) business, he will knock him on his ass.  Talon leaves.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, the Muscles come out but it’s only Thorpe and Weasley.  They are wearing their rainbow colored bull horns.  They act all goofy on stage and then head to the ring.  Once in the ring, they take off their attire and await their challengers.



2 members of the 6 Man Tag Team Champions Killa Pops and Maximillian Redbeard come out to a pop from the crowd.  They interact with some of the fans and then head to the ring.   The bell rings and this one is all the champs.  4 minutes in, Pops hits Thorpe with the Pimp Drop.  He goes for the cover but only gets a two count.  The Muscles then began to double team Pops who made the tag to Redbeard.  Redbeard hits the ring only to be double teamed himself.  After he deemed he’d had enough, Redbeard hits Thorpe with a big boot to the face that sends him to the floor.  Weasley went for some high flying move but Redbeard caught him and then HURLED him into the crowd from the ring.  HOLY SH!T changes rang out.  Needless to say, Weasley did not make it back in to the ring so he was counted out.  Pops and Redbeard get the win via count out (another one???).  They head to the back.  Thorpe gathers up his tag team partner and helps him to the back.  (12 min)

Our last J9 interview of the evening is with the World Champion and King the Wicked Prophet and his manager Dash ‘Smooooth’ Woodbrick (Dash wants more OOOO’s but I just don’t want to type them).  Dash tells J9 that he heard what name she called him earlier (J9 shrugs her shoulder like ‘Who Me?’).  Dash glares at her.  Prophet says that no one in HCW is worthy of fighting him.  Even every person who holds a title be it Scooter J, Rad Gumbo or that flannel wearing goof Jack Lumber…each and every one of them are unworthy.  Talon McFrost will serve as an example of what will happen to anyone who crosses him.  Prophet walks off and Dash follows.

It’s time for our Main Event.  First, Talon McFrost comes out to a small pop from the crowd.  He is all business and heads right for the ring.  He removes his jacked and paces in the ring.  The music then changed:




Wait…What the?

The logo then goes to static and is replaced by:
            
                  


Dash comes out first and is pissed.  I think he’s gonna sue somebody.  The King and World Champion the Wicked Prophet comes out next.  Both are booed heavily except for one small part where Prophet’s ‘followers’ hang out.  The duo make their way to the ring.  Once in, Prophet removes his crown and cape and hands them, along with his scepter, to Dash.  Prophet does some light stretches and then the bell rings.

The Wicked Prophet wins the match and retains his title.  Dash gets into the ring and puts the title around Prophet’s waist.   The two celebrate in the ring until the flannel wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber comes out.  He and Prophet have a stare down as the show comes to an end.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #845 (5/27/20)


This episode was supposed to air last week but due to the venue being shut down, it was postponed until tonight.


Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Pyro goes off and J9 makes her way out to the stage.  “Welcome one and all to HCW Tacoma Thunder.  Tonight on the card, we’ll see Violet Valkyrie challenge Lady Hermann for her spot in the ladies top 10.  The US title will also be on the line as champion ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo defends.  Our main event is headlined by a defense of the World Tag Team titles with the Steel Curtain defending against the 5th Column.  All this and more so let’s get the show on the road.”  The fans pop again and J9 leaves to her logo flashing on the Omegatron.
















Our first match begins with Ghee Buttersnaps making his way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and then the music changes and out comes ‘the Bounty Hunter’ Jake Montrose.  Montrose makes it to the ring and the match begins pretty quickly.  The match goes to 9 minutes and Ghee hits the Ghee, hee, hee for a one count.  After that, Jake kicked it up a notch smashing Ghee’s head into the corner turnbuckle.  Jake ends it with a forearm sledge to the back knocking Ghee out on his feet.  Montrose goes for the pin and secures the 1-2-3.  The Bounty Hunter secures the win much to the chagrin of the fans.  He smirks as he makes his way to the back. (14 min)

J9 is backstage with the Masked Banana.  MB says there’s a time for drinking margaritas (as his theme song suggests) and there is a time to be serious.  He says the King of HCW the Wicked Prophet is making his life impossible by continuing to suggest that they are one in the same.  He says he will continue to prove that statement wrong for as long as it takes.

We head back to the ring for our next match.   First, the former King and now ‘Luke Warm’ Lucas Johnston comes out to a…luke warm reception from the crowd.  He makes his way down and into the ring.  Next, the music changes and out he comes:















Peach, Pomegranate, Lime Margarita
Green, orange, purple margarita
Salt, rocks, frozen margarita
Hey Margarita!


The Masked Banana comes out to a pretty loud pop from the crowd.  He stops by his fan club the Banana Boat, pets someone’s version of Nannie and makes his way to the ring.  The bell rings once MB got into the ring.  For the first 8 minutes of the match, it was pretty evenly matched between the two.  Lucas turned up the heat and began stunning MB with continued dropkicks.  Lucas hits his famous Flying Dropkick and goes for the pin but MB kicks out at 1.  MB battles back a few minutes later hitting the Banana Hammock and he went for the pin but Lucas got his foot on the bottom rope to stop the count.   At the 16 minute mark, MB went for the Banana Cream Pie but Lucas reversed it hitting a flying body press.  He went for the pin but MB kicks out at 2.  Lucas picks him up and hits a bridging back suplex.  With MB’s shoulders on the mat, the ref counted 1-2-3.  Lucas Johnston gets the win and for the first time in a long time, the fans became vocal about it.  Lucas has his arm raised and the fans began to boo; not much but just at a ‘luke warm’ level.  Lucas leaves.  The Masked Banana gets some nice applause for a good try.  He stops once again at the Banana Boat before heading to the back.  (17 min)

Back in the office of the GM, Master Bull is hard at work until Wilber Townsend bursts in.  “I demand the title shot tonight for the US title.” Bull stands up.  “Do you now?”  Just then, ‘Mountain Man’ Junior Huber, Wilber’s cousin, comes in and also demands tonight’s title defense.  Bull sits back down.  “Tell you what.  Tonight, I’ll make the US title match a triple threat HOWEVER, unlike other triple threat types of matches, you MUST pin the champion in order to win the title.  You cannot pin each other.”  Wilber and Junior stare at each other and then agree to the rules.  “Now get out.  I have work to do” Bull exclaims.  Wilber and Junior leave but then the lights flicker. Bull looks up only to see the creepy version of Wilber standing in front of him.   The lights flicker and Bull shakes his head and it’s all gone….or was it even there at all?

We head back to the ring for our next match.  The loudspeakers blare as the Omeagatron lights up:















APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE

Out comes Apollo to massive booing from the crowd.  He flips them off as he doesn’t give a rat’s ass what they think.  He makes his way to the ring as the booing continues.  Apollo mocks the fans from the ring until the music changes and out comes ‘the Hoff’ Davis Hoffmeister.  The fans do a 180 and Davis gets the loudest pop of the night so far.  Davis makes his way out and interacts with the fans before making his way into the ring.  Apollo doesn’t care for the pop Davis is getting so he attacks him before the bell.  This match is a challenge match for Davis’ spot in the US title top 10.  Apollo controls the pace of the match until Davis got his groove but that was short lived after Apollo threw Davis out of the ring.  Apollo then hit the ropes and hit a suicide dive through the ropes colliding with Davis and both men crashed into the ringside barrier.  Both men were down for almost the 8 count but Apollo got to his feet first and after punting Davis in the head, he rolled back into the ring just before the ref counted to 10 beating the count.  The ref calls for the bell and awards the match to Apollo via count out decision.  Apollo grabs the mic and says he’s now officially next in line for a title shot after Wilber and Junior flunk out.  He says that once he defeats Rad to win the title, he will never have to apologize to anyone ever again.  (6 ½ min)

J9 is backstage again with the Ragin Cajun the US Champion Rad Gumbo and his manager Miss Alexandria.  Rad says that it doesn’t matter if it’s one on one, 2 on one, the roster against him; he will walk out with his title.  He then looks at the camera and tells Apollo “Mon Ami, you will wish you didn’t win dat match.  You’re about to experience a whole world of Cajun hurt.”  Rad and his manager walk off.

We are back at the ring. 














This is another challenge match; this time Violet Valkyrie is challenging Lady Hermann for her spot in the top 10.  Violet comes out as fog fills the stage and explodes like a rocket as she rushes down to the ring.  She slides under the bottom rope.  She climbs the corner turnbuckle and the fans pop loud for her.  She steps down as the music changes and out comes her challenger Lady Hermann.  Her Ladyship makes her way to the ring and is all business.  The fans boo her but she ignores them.  She climbs over the top rope and stands nose to nose with Violet in the center of the ring.  The bell rings and Violet hits the ropes and tries for a shoulderblock only for Lady Hermann to barely budge.  She motions for Violet to try it again but this time, it was like hitting a brick wall and Violet bounces off falling to the mat.  She looks concerned.  Lady Hermann tells her to try it a third time.  Violet hits the ropes and ducks a clothesline and hits a flying dropkick that takes her Ladyship off her feet.  The fans pop huge.   Violet started off strong but then Lady Hermann used her power and started to dominate Violet but Violet’s speed kept things mostly even between the two.   At the 19 minute mark, Lady Hermann executed a swinging neckbreaker but Violet managed to grab her arm and lock her into a triangle choke.  Lady Hermann stood up with Violet still attached and not letting go.  Lady Hermann dropped to her knees and finally to her back with Violet not letting go.  Eventually, she had no choice and tapped out.  Violet Valkyrie gets the win via submission and is back in the top 10.  She stands tall and motions around her waist that she is coming after the Ladies title.  She leaves to a pop from the crowd.  Lady Hermann follows shortly thereafter.  (19 min)

J9 is with the 5th Column.  Baron von Blood, Karl Braun and Oswald Zimmerman walk into the pitcutre.  J9 asks which of them will be wrestling tonight.  Baron says that it doesn’t really matter who wrestles tonight as they will enact the ‘Freebird’ rule and they all will be the champions.  Karl says he and Baron will wrestle tonight but Oswald will be in their corner.  Oswald says that the 5th Column will defeat the “American cowards” the Steel Curtain and the ‘real’ champs will take over.

We head back to the ring for our triple threat match for the US title.  The rules are that the belt will ONLY change hands if the champion is pinned.  First, Junior Huber makes his way out to booing form the crowd.  Next, the lights go dim and Wilber Townsend makes his way out to booing from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and he and Junior stare at each other.  Finally, the champ makes his way out.














“GUMBO 7:30 MEANS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” and out comes the ‘Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo and his manager Miss Alexandria.  The three men instantly begin slugging it out and for a whopping 25 minutes the 3 men beat the holy hell out of each other.  Each person hit their specialty move only for the saves to be made.  We join the match at the 26th minute mark.

Rad Gumbo gets the win and retains his title.  The ref hands it to him and Miss Alexandria secures it around his waist.  Gumbo then walks over to the camera and tells Apollo “You’re Next”.  Gumbo and Ms. Alexandria leave.  Wilber and Junior leave separately.

J9 introduces the World Tag Team the Steel Curtain.  Buzz and Starbuck Steel walk into the camera shot.  Buzz begins.  “5th Column…Baron von Boredom,  Mr. Braunny, and Oswald the Zipper.  You think your extra muscle is going to help you win the belts?  Let’s see how you’ve done so far…Nope, can’t think of it.  You bunch of yahoos are not in our league and tonight, we prove it.  Tell em Buck.”  Starbuck steps up.  “We have proven that we are one of the best if not the best tag team around.  Everyone wants a shot at us and each time we shut them down.  Doesn’t matter if it’s the Column, the Hubers or Scooter J and TNT.  Step up and we’ll set you down.”  Both men take a step towards the camera but then turn to look at J9 who says “WORD”.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the challengers the 5th Column come out – Baron Von Blood, Karl Braun and Oswald Zimmerman.  They are booed as they make their way to the ring.  The music changed and out comes the World Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain.
















The champs come out and the fans pop huge for them.  They stand tall on the stage holding their titles high.  They make their way to the ring and after interacting with the fans at ringside, they entered the ring and climbed the turnbuckles holding the belts high.  The match begins and this one is off to the races.  The Column gets the early jump on the champs but it doesn’t take long for them to take control of the match.  About 19 minutes in, Oswald tried to get involved by sneaking his teammates a foreign object but was cut off by the ref and sent Oswald to the back much to the dismay of his teammates.  We now join the match at the 20 mark.

The Steel Curtain win the match and retain their belts.  The crowd pops huge as they hold their titles high and climb the turnbuckles.  Out of nowhere, Scooter J and TNT sneak in from the crowd and attack the champs after their hard fought match.  Scooter J drops Starbuck with the 10 punches and TNT drops Buzz with the TNT.  The show comes to an end with SJ and TNT picking up the belts and standing over the champions.
