HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #845 (5/27/20)

This episode was supposed to air last week but due to the venue being shut down, it was postponed until tonight.

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Pyro goes off and J9 makes her way out to the stage.  “Welcome one and all to HCW Tacoma Thunder.  Tonight on the card, we’ll see Violet Valkyrie challenge Lady Hermann for her spot in the ladies top 10.  The US title will also be on the line as champion ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo defends.  Our main event is headlined by a defense of the World Tag Team titles with the Steel Curtain defending against the 5th Column.  All this and more so let’s get the show on the road.”  The fans pop again and J9 leaves to her logo flashing on the Omegatron.

Our first match begins with Ghee Buttersnaps making his way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and then the music changes and out comes ‘the Bounty Hunter’ Jake Montrose.  Montrose makes it to the ring and the match begins pretty quickly.  The match goes to 9 minutes and Ghee hits the Ghee, hee, hee for a one count.  After that, Jake kicked it up a notch smashing Ghee’s head into the corner turnbuckle.  Jake ends it with a forearm sledge to the back knocking Ghee out on his feet.  Montrose goes for the pin and secures the 1-2-3.  The Bounty Hunter secures the win much to the chagrin of the fans.  He smirks as he makes his way to the back. (14 min)

J9 is backstage with the Masked Banana.  MB says there’s a time for drinking margaritas (as his theme song suggests) and there is a time to be serious.  He says the King of HCW the Wicked Prophet is making his life impossible by continuing to suggest that they are one in the same.  He says he will continue to prove that statement wrong for as long as it takes.

We head back to the ring for our next match.   First, the former King and now ‘Luke Warm’ Lucas Johnston comes out to a…luke warm reception from the crowd.  He makes his way down and into the ring.  Next, the music changes and out he comes:

Peach, Pomegranate, Lime Margarita
Green, orange, purple margarita
Salt, rocks, frozen margarita
Hey Margarita!

The Masked Banana comes out to a pretty loud pop from the crowd.  He stops by his fan club the Banana Boat, pets someone’s version of Nannie and makes his way to the ring.  The bell rings once MB got into the ring.  For the first 8 minutes of the match, it was pretty evenly matched between the two.  Lucas turned up the heat and began stunning MB with continued dropkicks.  Lucas hits his famous Flying Dropkick and goes for the pin but MB kicks out at 1.  MB battles back a few minutes later hitting the Banana Hammock and he went for the pin but Lucas got his foot on the bottom rope to stop the count.   At the 16 minute mark, MB went for the Banana Cream Pie but Lucas reversed it hitting a flying body press.  He went for the pin but MB kicks out at 2.  Lucas picks him up and hits a bridging back suplex.  With MB’s shoulders on the mat, the ref counted 1-2-3.  Lucas Johnston gets the win and for the first time in a long time, the fans became vocal about it.  Lucas has his arm raised and the fans began to boo; not much but just at a ‘luke warm’ level.  Lucas leaves.  The Masked Banana gets some nice applause for a good try.  He stops once again at the Banana Boat before heading to the back.  (17 min)

Back in the office of the GM, Master Bull is hard at work until Wilber Townsend bursts in.  “I demand the title shot tonight for the US title.” Bull stands up.  “Do you now?”  Just then, ‘Mountain Man’ Junior Huber, Wilber’s cousin, comes in and also demands tonight’s title defense.  Bull sits back down.  “Tell you what.  Tonight, I’ll make the US title match a triple threat HOWEVER, unlike other triple threat types of matches, you MUST pin the champion in order to win the title.  You cannot pin each other.”  Wilber and Junior stare at each other and then agree to the rules.  “Now get out.  I have work to do” Bull exclaims.  Wilber and Junior leave but then the lights flicker. Bull looks up only to see the creepy version of Wilber standing in front of him.   The lights flicker and Bull shakes his head and it’s all gone….or was it even there at all?

We head back to the ring for our next match.  The loudspeakers blare as the Omeagatron lights up:

APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE

Out comes Apollo to massive booing from the crowd.  He flips them off as he doesn’t give a rat’s ass what they think.  He makes his way to the ring as the booing continues.  Apollo mocks the fans from the ring until the music changes and out comes ‘the Hoff’ Davis Hoffmeister.  The fans do a 180 and Davis gets the loudest pop of the night so far.  Davis makes his way out and interacts with the fans before making his way into the ring.  Apollo doesn’t care for the pop Davis is getting so he attacks him before the bell.  This match is a challenge match for Davis’ spot in the US title top 10.  Apollo controls the pace of the match until Davis got his groove but that was short lived after Apollo threw Davis out of the ring.  Apollo then hit the ropes and hit a suicide dive through the ropes colliding with Davis and both men crashed into the ringside barrier.  Both men were down for almost the 8 count but Apollo got to his feet first and after punting Davis in the head, he rolled back into the ring just before the ref counted to 10 beating the count.  The ref calls for the bell and awards the match to Apollo via count out decision.  Apollo grabs the mic and says he’s now officially next in line for a title shot after Wilber and Junior flunk out.  He says that once he defeats Rad to win the title, he will never have to apologize to anyone ever again.  (6 ½ min)

J9 is backstage again with the Ragin Cajun the US Champion Rad Gumbo and his manager Miss Alexandria.  Rad says that it doesn’t matter if it’s one on one, 2 on one, the roster against him; he will walk out with his title.  He then looks at the camera and tells Apollo “Mon Ami, you will wish you didn’t win dat match.  You’re about to experience a whole world of Cajun hurt.”  Rad and his manager walk off.

We are back at the ring.

This is another challenge match; this time Violet Valkyrie is challenging Lady Hermann for her spot in the top 10.  Violet comes out as fog fills the stage and explodes like a rocket as she rushes down to the ring.  She slides under the bottom rope.  She climbs the corner turnbuckle and the fans pop loud for her.  She steps down as the music changes and out comes her challenger Lady Hermann.  Her Ladyship makes her way to the ring and is all business.  The fans boo her but she ignores them.  She climbs over the top rope and stands nose to nose with Violet in the center of the ring.  The bell rings and Violet hits the ropes and tries for a shoulderblock only for Lady Hermann to barely budge.  She motions for Violet to try it again but this time, it was like hitting a brick wall and Violet bounces off falling to the mat.  She looks concerned.  Lady Hermann tells her to try it a third time.  Violet hits the ropes and ducks a clothesline and hits a flying dropkick that takes her Ladyship off her feet.  The fans pop huge.   Violet started off strong but then Lady Hermann used her power and started to dominate Violet but Violet’s speed kept things mostly even between the two.   At the 19 minute mark, Lady Hermann executed a swinging neckbreaker but Violet managed to grab her arm and lock her into a triangle choke.  Lady Hermann stood up with Violet still attached and not letting go.  Lady Hermann dropped to her knees and finally to her back with Violet not letting go.  Eventually, she had no choice and tapped out.  Violet Valkyrie gets the win via submission and is back in the top 10.  She stands tall and motions around her waist that she is coming after the Ladies title.  She leaves to a pop from the crowd.  Lady Hermann follows shortly thereafter.  (19 min)

J9 is with the 5th Column.  Baron von Blood, Karl Braun and Oswald Zimmerman walk into the pitcutre.  J9 asks which of them will be wrestling tonight.  Baron says that it doesn’t really matter who wrestles tonight as they will enact the ‘Freebird’ rule and they all will be the champions.  Karl says he and Baron will wrestle tonight but Oswald will be in their corner.  Oswald says that the 5th Column will defeat the “American cowards” the Steel Curtain and the ‘real’ champs will take over.

We head back to the ring for our triple threat match for the US title.  The rules are that the belt will ONLY change hands if the champion is pinned.  First, Junior Huber makes his way out to booing form the crowd.  Next, the lights go dim and Wilber Townsend makes his way out to booing from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and he and Junior stare at each other.  Finally, the champ makes his way out.

“GUMBO 7:30 MEANS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” and out comes the ‘Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo and his manager Miss Alexandria.  The three men instantly begin slugging it out and for a whopping 25 minutes the 3 men beat the holy hell out of each other.  Each person hit their specialty move only for the saves to be made.  We join the match at the 26th minute mark.

J9 introduces the World Tag Team the Steel Curtain.  Buzz and Starbuck Steel walk into the camera shot.  Buzz begins.  “5th Column…Baron von Boredom,  Mr. Braunny, and Oswald the Zipper.  You think your extra muscle is going to help you win the belts?  Let’s see how you’ve done so far…Nope, can’t think of it.  You bunch of yahoos are not in our league and tonight, we prove it.  Tell em Buck.”  Starbuck steps up.  “We have proven that we are one of the best if not the best tag team around.  Everyone wants a shot at us and each time we shut them down.  Doesn’t matter if it’s the Column, the Hubers or Scooter J and TNT.  Step up and we’ll set you down.”  Both men take a step towards the camera but then turn to look at J9 who says “WORD”.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the challengers the 5th Column come out – Baron Von Blood, Karl Braun and Oswald Zimmerman.  They are booed as they make their way to the ring.  The music changed and out comes the World Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain.

The champs come out and the fans pop huge for them.  They stand tall on the stage holding their titles high.  They make their way to the ring and after interacting with the fans at ringside, they entered the ring and climbed the turnbuckles holding the belts high.  The match begins and this one is off to the races.  The Column gets the early jump on the champs but it doesn’t take long for them to take control of the match.  About 19 minutes in, Oswald tried to get involved by sneaking his teammates a foreign object but was cut off by the ref and sent Oswald to the back much to the dismay of his teammates.  We now join the match at the 20 mark.
