HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2024 #979 – 1/20/24


Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Tonight, the card is stacked with placement challenges as well as having the 6 Man Tag Team Championship defended.  The Albano Family with Pierre Boulay will be on hand to take on the Snake Pit.  The Snake Pit defeated the Hubers to get this match but there still is no love lost between these two teams.

 

The show begins with Ovaltine Jackson making his way out.  He gets a nice pop from the crowd as he gets into the ring.  The music changes fairly quickly and out comes the newcomer Negropolis.  It doesn’t take long but the fans immediately boo him.  Knowing this schmuck has anything to do with the Negronomicon, the fans definitely are going to be against him.

 

Match #1:  Negropolis vs Ovaltine Jackson.   

 

In this intense wrestling match between Negropolis and Ovaltine Jackson, the action unfolded over 20 minutes, showcasing a series of powerful moves and strategic maneuvers. The momentum swung back and forth as both competitors fought to secure victory.

 

The match kicked off with impactful throws and hip tosses, with Ovaltine Jackson gaining an early lead. Throughout the match, Negropolis and Ovaltine Jackson executed various signature moves and attempting pins. The crowd witnessed high-flying acrobatics, devastating slams, and intense pin attempts.

 

In the final minute of the match, the unexpected twist occurred. Duke Knight made a surprise appearance, causing a distraction that led to Negropolis losing the match. Despite Negropolis's valiant efforts, Ovaltine Jackson capitalized on the opportunity and sealed the victory with a powerful "DIRECTOR'S CUT POWERSLAM."

 

The interference by Duke Knight added a layer of drama to the match, leaving fans shocked and eager to see how this development would impact the ongoing rivalry between Negropolis and Ovaltine Jackson. Ovaltine Jackson emerged as the winner, celebrating a hard-fought triumph in the ring. The fans give him a nice pop to bring our kick-off match to an end.

 

Match #2:  OP Cunningham vs Azrael for his spot in the HC title lineup

 

Our next match is for a placement match for the Hardcore Title top 10.  Otis Peabody Cunningham challenges Azrael for his spot.  OP comes out first to a nice pop for the good ol’ boy.  After getting in the ring, the music changes and out comes Azrael accompanied by his manager the Ambassador.  Right off the bat, the Ambassador tries to get involved and is immediately caught by the ref who sends him to the back.  The Ambassador leaves under protest but eventually does the match continues.

Otis Peabody (OP) Cunningham wins with a Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex over Azrael!!!

 

OP gets the win and is now the #1 contender for the Hardcore title.  His victory is short lived when the Hardcore Champion Tommy Sullivan comes out and attacks him laying him out.  Sullivan stands tall over OP holding his title high.  The fans boo until the Morningstar finally left the ring.

 

Match #3:  Evan and the Banker vs the Freedom Fighters

 

The Freedom Fighters – Justice and Flash, come out first to a decent pop from the crowd.  They got the fans excited for this match.  The music then changed and out comes Ruth Heartless followed by Evan Stockwell and the TV Champion the Banker.  Ruth raises Evan’s arm as the fans boo.  The Banker looks at her quizzically until she raises his arm.  The trio head to the ring.  The Banker and Evan get into the ring and the fans continue with the booing.  The Banker goes to start off the match.  Just as the bell rings, Flash jumps to the top rope and hits a Shooting Star Press on the Banker.  Evan immediately tags himself in as Ruth pulls the Banker out of the ring.  Evan locks Flash up with the Hostile Takeover and Flash taps out.  HOLY CRAP!  Evan and the Banker get the win in 60 seconds!  Ruth joins Evan in the ring and holds his arm up high.  The Banker is on the outside of the ring and he is not happy with how this transpired.  He gets into the ring and questions what Evan was doing but Ruth says they won and he just needs to accept it.  Evan and Ruth begin to leave when she turns and asks if he’s joining them.  He gets his TV Title and they head to the back. 

 

Backstage, Madman Mason is talking to one of the interviewers and he insists that he and Molly are indeed related.  He starts to get riled up when the interviewer questions him but then ‘The Alaskan Wildman’ Jax Brenner walks over and Mason turns and walks away.  It looks like the mind games that Mason is playing continue.

 

Match #4:  Korbi Kong vs Penny Hall. 

 

Penny Hall comes out first to booing from the fans.  She hollers at them as she walks to the ring.  The fans’ continue to make her realize she won’t be getting any cheers from them.  The music changes and we hear “KORBI KONG SMASH” and out comes Korbi Kong.  The fans pop huge for her.  She shakes hands with the fans as she makes her way to the ring.  Once there, she climbs the turnbuckle and gets the crowd to continue with the pop. 

 

In this thrilling wrestling match between fan favorite Korbi Kong and her opponent Penny Lane, both competitors delivered a spectacular performance that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The match unfolded over 17 intense minutes, showcasing a variety of powerful moves and strategic counters.

 

From the opening minutes, Korbi Kong took the lead with a dominant display, executing a series of impactful moves such as the BACKBREAKER and STIFF FOREARM UPPERCUT. However, Penny Lane fought back with resilience, countering with moves like the DIVING FOREARM SMASH and BODYSCISSORS ROLL-UP.

 

The back-and-forth action continued throughout the match, with both wrestlers scoring points and attempting pinfalls. Korbi Kong showcased her strength with moves like the MILE HIGH FLYING ELBOW DROP and RUNNING CLOTHESLINE, while Penny Lane displayed agility with maneuvers like the FLYING DROPKICK and HAIR MARE MAT SLAM.

 

In a surprising turn of events, the match reached its climax when Korbi Kong secured victory with an ARM TRIANGLE LOCK, forcing Penny Lane to submit. The crowd erupted in cheers as Korbi Kong celebrated her hard-earned triumph in the ring.

 

The match between Korbi Kong and Penny Lane was a testament to the skill and resilience of both wrestlers, providing fans with an unforgettable and action-packed spectacle.

 

After Penny left the ring, Korbi asked for the mic.  Korbi says she wants another shot at Luciana.  This also brings out Hayley Hailstorm and Luna Shadow.  The other two women also say they want shots.  GM Max McGillicutty comes out and says he will make a triple threat match for next week with the winner getting the next shot at the Ladies Title.  The three women have a stare down but all three leave shortly thereafter.

 

Match #5: The Main Event:  Six Man Tag Team Champions The Albano Family vs The Snake Pit

 

The Snake Pit (Tobias, Leiton, and Niven) come out to a very mild pop.  They are not fan favorites by any means but the fans despise their opponents even more.  The music changes and out comes Pierre Boulay carrying the portrait of Capt. Lou Albano and he is followed by the Six Man Tag Team Champions – the Albano Family (Aldo and Carlo Albano and Rigg A. Mortis).

 

In this intense and dramatic wrestling match, the Snake Pit and the Albano Family delivered a spectacle that kept the audience at the edge of their seats. With the manager Pierre Boulay at ringside, holding a portrait of Capt. Lou Albano for motivation, the match unfolded over 24 minutes of action-packed moments.

 

The opening minutes set the tone for the match, with Aldo Albano and Niven Snake both sustaining injuries that would affect their performance for several rounds. The Snake Pit showcased their dominance early on, with Niven Snake executing a powerful DEADLIFT POWERBOMB, scoring significant points.

 

As the match progressed, both teams showcased their skills with a mix of high-flying and hard-hitting moves. Leiton Snake, Tobias Snake, and Niven Snake engaged in double teaming maneuvers, displaying their teamwork and coordination. The Albano Family fought back, with Carlo Albano delivering impactful moves like the Snap Mare and Running Powerslam.

 

The turning point of the match occurred in the 12th minute when Leiton hit Carlo with the PEDIGREE FACEBUSTER but then Pierre Boulay, the manager of the Albano Family, interfered by executing a BLATANT INTERFERENCE. Boulay’s interference disqualified the champs however the titles can only change hands on a pinfall or submission so the Albano Family still are the champs much to the dismay of the fans.

 

With that, the show comes to an end.  More to come so stay tuned.
