Hello wrestling fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter. Tonight, we bring you Day 1 of the Zero Hour mega event. The sold out event is being broadcast on Pay per view to households around the world. As the show begins, pyro goes off and spotlights spin around the arena showing off the super-excited fans who can’t wait for the event to begin. We start off on a sour note as GM ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito makes her way out. The fans boo her. “SHUT YOUR PIE HOLES” she exclaims which only incites them all the more. The fans don’t let her get in much more than a few words so she ends up storming off which made the fans pop instead.
Pyro goes off and our first match is ready to get underway. Familiar music plays and the fans pop and start to sing along:
Peach, Pomegranate, Lime Margarita

The Masked Banana makes his way out and the fans are super excited to see him. He stops by his fan club the Banana Boat and continues to the ring shaking hands with the fans. He gets into the ring and climbs the turnbuckle and the pop continues. Just then, TNT rushes in and attacks him from behind beating him down. TNT drops him with the TNT and stands over him. The music changes and out comes the Anytime/Anywhere Champion Scooter J. He laughs as the fans boo him. He jogs to the ring and enters. He hugs TNT and as TNT leaves the ring, Scooter J tells the ref to ring the bell. Scooter J holds the advantage for the first few minutes but much to his dismay, the Masked Banana began fighting back. After about 7 minutes, Scooter J was sweating that he could potentially lose. We join the match at the 10 minute mark.

match and retains his title. He
aggressively takes his title from the ref and makes his way to the back. The Masked Banana is helped to his feet and
he makes his way up the ramp, stops and turns and waves to the fans (they pop)
and he heads backstage.
Backstage, J9 says
that Goldie’s time in HCW is up and tonight, after she screams “I QUIT”, the
world will be rid of the little red riding hood and her 3 bears. She laughs.
We head back to
the ring for our next match. First,
Shawn ‘Abs of Stone’ Austin comes out to booing from the crowd. He flips the fans off as he makes his way to
the ring. He continues to jaw jack with
them until the music changed and out comes ‘Perfect Pecs’ Stoddard. He gets a nice pop from the crowd as he makes
a beeline for the ring. He enters and
Austin bails out of the ring. Pecs
motions for him to get in the ring so they can begin this. The ref announces that the rules for this
will be ‘brass knuckles’ rules. The
match was pretty even going and about 7 minutes in, Shawn grabbed the brass
knuckles but Pecs fought him for them.
Pecs eventually wrestled them away and blasted Shawn in the stomach
bowling him over. Pecs then measured him
up and hit him with the Celtic kick. He
made the cover and got the 1-2-3. Pecs
gets the win. He leaves to a nice pop
from the crowd. Austin had to be
carried/dragged from the ring. (8 min)
Phat Sol is
backstage. He says that the attack
orchestrated by Dr. Red Fang was done to bring out the viciousness in him. Fang awakened a “demon” if you will and he
will regret that action.
We go back to the
ring for our next match. The Snake Pit
come out first to a pop from the crowd.
They stand on the stage and do a fist bump before making their way to
the ring. They enter the ring. They don’t wait long as the 5th
Column make their way out next. Baron
von Blood, Karl Braun and Oswald Zimmerman make their way out to massive boos
from the fans. This is another grudge
match that has been building up throughout 2020. Tonight’s match is being given 45 minute and
street fight rules in order for them to bring this feud to a solid conclusion. The 5th Column dominated the Pit
for 18 straight minutes with the Pit members continuing to make the save. Niven makes the hot tag to Leiton who comes
in and nails Karl with the Sling Blade. He
then hurls Karl into the corner and he falls to the mat. Leiton sets him up and hits him with the Curb
Stomp. Me makes the cover and gets the
1-2-3. The Snake Pit are victorious and
with this win, the put a dominating end to the 5th Column. Niven and Tobias drag Karl out of the ring
and Leiton joins them. Tobias picks him
up and with the help of Niven and Leiton, they triple powerbomb him through a
table. They then depart leaving Baron
and Oswald to pick up their fallen comrade and leave. (21 min)
Goldie Locks is
backstage. She says she heard what J9
had to say but she had something wrong.
She says that it’s not her leaving but J9. She tells the fans that with them in her
corner, J9 doesn’t stand a chance.
We head back to
the ring and are treated to a very short version of “Hell is on fire” by
KISS. Out comes Phat Sol but he is
dressed as KISS’ own ‘Demon’ character (the one portrayed by Gene Simmons)
(editor’s note: He better have cleared
that with Gene otherwise Phat may be on the bad end of some lawsuits). The fans pop as Demon Phat makes his way down
to the ring. His outfit lacks the typical
raised platform boots that members of the famous band wore (probably because he
didn’t want to trip on his way to the ring).
He gets a pretty decent pop as he shakes hands with the fans and makes
his way into the ring. He doesn’t have
to wait long until, blaring through the loudspeakers, we hear “VAMPIRE LUNGES
FOR EVERYBODY” and out comes the Hardcore Champion Dr. Red Fang and his manager
the Ambassador. Fang cackles, snarls and
growls at the fans as he makes his way to the ring. Once at the ring, the ring announcer tells us
the rules for this match will be ECW (extreme ) rules meaning anything
including the kitchen sink can be used as a weapon in this match. Fang attacks Phat right off the bat…with a
baseball bat. Fang’s preemptive attack
gave him the early advantage but then the Demon powerbombed Fang through a
table. He rolled him back into the ring
and went for a pin but Fang kicked out.
We now join the match at the 11 minute mark.

mercilessly at Fang as the Ambassador joins him in the ring and puts the
Hardcore title back around his waist.
The duo soak in the booing. Phat,
who had time to recover, grabbed the steel chair and blasted Fang with it
sending him out of the ring. That left
the Ambassador who scrambled to get out of the ring but Phat grabbed him. The Ambassador pleaded for Phat to let him go
but after looking to the fans for a suggestion, he opted not to. Phat stunned the Ambassador with a couple of
knee lifts and then hit him with the Phat’s Enough. Fang reached in and pulled his manager out of
the ring. Fang and the Ambassador limped
to the back while Phat stayed and celebrated with the fans. Although he didn’t win the match, he felt he
came out ahead.
Backstage, Davis
‘the Hoff’ Hoffmeister and Drew the Canadian Love Machine are being
interviewed. Drew says that Apollo and
Dash never beat them for the belts; that the GM of HCW was in their pocket and
set them up for failure. Davis says
tonight they will rectify that and tonight, they bring the Tag Team belts home.
We go back to the
ring for our ‘I Quit’ match. J9 comes
out first and is booed heavily. She
flips off a few of the more vocal fans and makes her way to the ring. Next, Goldie Locks comes out and gets a huge
pop from the fans. She shakes a few
hands but is a woman on a mission. She
gets into the ring. The ref announces
that the only way for someone to win is for that person to say the words “I
quit”.

screams at the fans to “shut up” but that only makes them more vocal. She storms off. Goldie celebrates with the fans and then also
departs.
Backstage, the Tag
Team Champions Apollo Gyze and Dash Woodbrick are being interviewed. Apollo says that while in Santa Monica, they
may have struck out with the women but they will not strike out tonight. Dash agrees and says that the belts are the
most important prize in the business and they will do anything and everything
in their power to retain. They leave to
head to the ring.
We head to the
ring for our Tag Team title match.
First, Drew and Davis make their way out to one of the loudest pops of
the night. They make their way to the
ring high fiving the fans and get in to the ring. The music changes almost immediately and out
comes the champions Dash Woodbrick and Apollo Gyze while blaring over the
loudspeakers, we hear “APOLLO GYZE and Dash Woodbrick DON’T APOLOGIZE”. The make their way to the ring through a sea
of booing from the on hand crowd (and I’m sure from those at home). They get into the ring and each climb a
turnbuckle holding their titles high.
The fans don’t like them but they don’t care. They hand the titles over and the match
begins. For the first 9 minutes of the
match, everything was basically even. We
now join the match at the 10 minute mark.

The belt does not
change hands on a disqualification so even though Drew and Davis won the match,
they do not win the belts. Dash and
Apollo grab their titles and leave laughing at their opponents. Drew and Davis, frustrated, briefly interact
with the fans before leaving.
Backstage, both
Korbi Kong and the Ladies Champion Catalina Harper conduct simultaneously separate
interviews. They each say that they will
be the one who leaves with the title.
They can hear each other and begin yelling at the other through the
walls.
We head back to
the ring but are treated to an unexpected visit from HCW’s resident forensic
investigator Gardinia Blue. She makes
her way out and asks for a mic. Gardinia
Blue announces that something hokey had been going on in HCW. She calls out the Masked Banana. She says the gig is up. She asks him to reveal or she will. MB removes his mask and it’s the Wicked
Prophet. Everyone is in shock. Prophet says that he’s played both sides as
part of him still like the cheering from the fans whereas the other half can’t
stand them. Prophet says that in 2021,
the Banana Boat will be sunk and will be no more. From here on out, the Prophet stands alone. The King throws the MB mask into a nearby
trashcan and then leaves to the loudest booing we’ve heard all night (and Dash
and Apollo’s was pretty loud).
It’s now time for
our main event. First, the challenger
comes out as we hear “KORBI KONG SMASH” and out comes Korbi. The fans pop huge for her as she makes her
way down. She interacts with a few fans
and then enters the ring ready for business.
Next, the music changes and out comes the Ladies Champion Catalina
Harper. Catalina is flanked by a couple
of pretty vicious looking felines (wildcats I believe). She makes her way to the ring and the cats
actually react to the booing from the crowd and they stop and hiss at the
fans. Catalina smiles. She gets into the ring and holds her title
high. The wildcats’ handlers take the
animals to the back. Max McGillicutty
comes out and says that he’s going to remain at ringside to ensure no
shenanigans take place. The match
begins.

Balloons and streamers begin falling from the ceiling. She drops to her knees as she grasps the
title holding it tight. She climbs each
of the corners holding the title high and pointing to the fans. Just then, her friends Violet Valkyrie,
Hayley Hailstorm and Goldie Locks all come out and celebrate with her. As a thick sea of confetti falls from the
ceiling, we see Hayley and Goldie go flying out of the ring. As it clears up, we see Violet nailing Korbi
with a running high knee smash. The fans
are shocked. Violet grabs Korbi and
picks her up and face plants her in the middle of the ring. The fans boo the hell out of Violet as she
picks up the title and holds it over a prone Korbi Kong. She uses one foot to keep Korbi down. The show comes to an end with Violet smirking.
There will be some
major fallout coming tomorrow so stay tuned!
