HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #793 – (08/31) – Olympia, WA – Saturday Night Showdown

Hello fans and welcome to a remote airing of an HCW show.  Tonight, as we prepare for tomorrow’s PPV Reign of Champions, Olympia welcomes the HCW roster and its fans from all over.  With special thanks to the city of Olympia, we were able to get one last card in before the PPV airs.  We are proud to bring you the first ever edition of “Saturday Night Showdown”.

We begin backstage and Tommy Lightning is mouthing off as usual and he turns around only to run into the behemoth that is the Big Cocoon.  Cocoon stares down at Tommy and says “Little Tommy has a big mouth.  You’d better watch it.”  Cocoon walks away.  Tommy stands there all bug eyed.

Pyro goes off and our show is ready to get underway.  Our first match begins with the ear piercing squeal of “Ice Dagger Baby” and ID makes his way out to major booing from the crowd.  He gets in the ring and continues to taunt the fans.  The music stops and is replaced by the chime of a bell and out comes the King of Cones Magnum Kone.  Magnum hands out a LOT of ice cream to the fans at ringside (it takes almost 5 full minutes).  Finally, he enters the ring.  He removes his jacket and hat and the bell rings.  The two were about even in trading blows and controlling the tempo of the match.  Lots of high spots and near falls took place but 15 minutes in, Magnum started to dominate and owned the match.  At the 16 minute mark, Magnum hits the Popsicle and goes for the pin and it seemed he got the three count but the ref noticed, as his hand hit the mat for the 3rd time, that Dagger’s foot was on the ropes so he directed the match to continue.  A couple of minutes later, Dagger trapped Magnum in the Yukon cloverleaf but Magnum powered out and made it to the safety of the ropes.  At the 20 minute mark, Magnum hit the Bomb Pop but delayed in going for the pin so Dagger was able to kick out.  While Magnum chatted with the ref, ID hit a low blow from behind (the ref of course did not see it) and Dagger followed it up with the Ice Breaker.  He made the cover hooking the leg and putting his feet on the ropes for leverage and got the 1-2-3.  Ice Dagger steals a win much to the dismay of the crowd.  Dagger left the ring and swaggered up the ramp mocking the fans all the way.  Magnum stayed to interact with them for a few moments before leaving.  (21 min)

The Banker is backstage and says that the wheels are in motion and his plans are finally coming to fruition.  “Only one thing remains in my way…Davis Hoffmeister.  You are like a bad penny; always turning up where you’re not wanted.  One match; a three count and I can move beyond you.  The world title awaits my return and it will be a relief once you are out of my hair.”

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, over the loudspeakers blares “Killa Pops is in da houuuuuuse” and out comes Pops.  The fans pop for him as he makes his way down to the ring.  He shakes hands with fans at ringside and enters the ring.  His music is abruptly cut off when Tommy Lightning comes out to massive booing from the crowd.  Tommy sneers at the fans and heads to the ring.  Tommy gets in the ring and immediately slaps Pops across the face.  The match begins and it’s safe to say Tommy got in very little offense after that as Pops opened an ultra-large can of whoop-ass on him.   At the 7, 11 and 15 min marks, Killa hit the Pimp Drop but Tommy kicked out all three times.   Killa took a step back and contemplated his options.  It appeared a light bulb went off in his head and he hit Tommy with two consecutive spinning side slams.  That did it.  Killa makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  Killa Pops gets the win but his celebration is cut short when Apollo Gyze and the Big Cocoon came out and attacked him beating him down.  After they seem satisfied with the havoc they raised, they left.  Killa was helped to the back.  (17 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

The camera pans to outside and a limo pulls up.  ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo exits the limo and heads inside.  The fans pop.

Next on our lineup is a rematch between ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito and Kimberly Kiccsass.  Kimberly was demoted out of the top 10 and she feels she’s been given a raw deal and her match tonight expects to see her pushed back to the #1 contender spot and Maxine can start over from scratch.  First, Kimberly comes out to booing from the crowd.  She makes her way down and into the ring.  A moment later, Maxine’s music hits and she comes out to an unexpected pop from the crowd.  Maxine appears to have a following here.  She gets in the ring and the match starts immediately.  Maxine was prepared for Kimberly and managed to control the pace of the match.   Kimberly did manage to hit the Christo but Maxine was at the ropes and got her foot on it at the last possible second.   A few minutes later and back in control, Maxine locks in the bodyscissors dragon sleeper but Kimberly managed to escape.   After Kimberly hit a Toronto slam, she got hurled out of the ring by Maxine.  Kimberly made it back in by the count of 7.   At the 14 minute mark, Kimberly went to the top rope and hit a leg drop.  She did not automatically go for the pin but took her time.  By the time she attempted to, Maxine ended up rolling her up and with a handful of tights, she got the 3 count.  Maxine gets the win and maintains her spot in the top 10.  Kimberly is pissed and storms off.

We cut to the backstage area again and we see the US Champion the Wicked Prophet.  As he enters the door to the arena, he is blindsided by Otto Ruthless who knocked him into some lockers before running off laughing.  Prophet got to his feet warding off any attempts for help and was stewing.

Next up, we have a street fight.  First, over the loudspeakers blares “Timmmmmmmmber” and out comes the plaid-wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber.  Jack Lumber enters the arena and takes his sweet time to get into the ring, stopping along the way to shake every outstretched hand and signing autographs on all the brand new flannels that the fans are wearing in the “Lumber Lounge.” (Section of group tickets purchased by Jack Lumber Superfans).   As Lumber makes his way to the ring, his newest graphic shows up on the Omegatron:

Once in the ring, Jack begins to speak: “Since I was granted the incredible opportunity to be a part of the HCW’s Tacoma Thunder series, I have been nothing but impressed with the organization, fans, and sportsmanship from everyone I’ve met…. Aside from one person who just seems to whine and complain every chance he gets. This ring is a chopping block tonight and instead of the Axe doing the damage, the Axe is getting chopped. There’s only room in this organization for one axe-wielding heartthrob and we all know Jack Lumber is the man for the job.  (Points to Lumber Lounge) so rip off your sleeves and get ready to yell timber, because its time to (fans join chant) CHOP! HIM! DOWN!”  The music changes and out comes the Axe and he is storming down to the ring.  Once there, he and Lumber began to throw down.

Jack Lumber is victorious and the fans pop for him but an unhappy Axe hits him from behind with the Axe dropping Jack to the mat.  Axe hits the Axe on Jack three times and sneers at him before walking off.  Jack tries to shake off the cobwebs and makes his way to the back to a standing ovation from the crowd.

Backstage, El Chango is getting ready for his match.  He is asked if he’s prepared for the blatant disregard of the rules that Col. Flagg is going to exhibit.  El Chango says that this is why he wanted this kind of match; to be able to beat Flagg at his own game.  Tonight, he will do just that.

The bell rings signaling the start of the next match.  First, Col. Samuel Flagg comes out to booing from the crowd.  He swipes a few signs from fans and tears them up.  He laughs as he throws the pieces into the crowd.  Next, El Chango comes out to a pretty loud pop from the crowd.  He stops and takes a selfie with one of the fans who had their sign torn up.  He has a determined look on his face and heads to the ring.  He rushes in only for Flagg to exit the other side.  This went on for a few minutes before the ref got tired of the shenanigans and orders the match to begin.  The match remained pretty even through the first 10 minutes of the match but after that, El Chango took off and dominated.  Flagg tried to walk away but this is a no DQ/countout match so he can’t go anywhere.  After refusing to return to the ring, El Chango went after him beating him up and down the ramp and on the stage.   Col. Flagg got in a short arm clothesline and then began gloating.  El Chango got to his feet and hit a wicked clothesline on Flagg that was so powerful, one of Flagg’s boots went flying off.  El Chango made the cover (they are on the stage) and got the 1-2-3.  El Chango is victorious.  The fans pop huge.  El Chango helps Flagg to his feet and then give him a swift kick in the ass sending him flying behind the curtain.  El Chango soaked in the adulation for a moment before leaving himself.  (17 min)

Davis Hoffmeister is backstage and is asked about the comments the Banker made.  Davis says he knows he is the better man and he will be making his way back to title contention.  Davis says he is not putting anything past the Banker as he is a devious man but makes sure we all know that Davis knows how to also play dirty and this will not be a wrestling match but will be an all-out brawl.

Also backstage is Jack Lumber.  He has an ice pack on his head.  “Axe, you are a coward and a cheat.  You couldn’t stand being beaten so the next time we meet, your sacrifice will not be in vain. Just as I have done for my other enemies, a tree will be planted in your (Axe’s) name to represent the legacy of your failure. Your literal and figurative sweat and tears will be used to water that tree for years to come.”

Side note:

Entrance to the Lumber Lounge

$20 or

$15 if you wear a flannel or

$10 if you bring a friend AND wear a flannel

We head back to the ring for the main event which is a falls count anywhere match.  First, the Banker comes out to massive booing from the crowd.  He flips the fans off as he makes his way down to the ring.   Next, Davis’ music hits and ‘the Hoff’ makes his way out to what may well be the loudest pop of the night.  He heads to the ring ready for action.  The two began throwing lefts and rights as soon as the bell rang and that went on for an astonishing 20 minutes.  After that, Davis got in some near fall pin attempts and took control of the match.  This one looked like it was going to end in a time limit draw once we hit the 29 minute mark.  The Banker, out of desperation, dropped Davis with a DDT but was unable to capitalize on it.  Davis got to his feet first, picked up the Banker and hit a piledriver.  Davis, exhausted, makes the cover and the ref counted 1…2…3.  Davis gets the win and the fans explode.  The Banker makes his way, defeated, to the back and Davis celebrates with the fans briefly before making his way back also.  (29 min)

There is a brief lull until we hear blaring “Gumbo 7:30 means its suppa time, bitch” and out comes the Ragin Cajun.  He remains on the stage.  Gumbo has a mic and says that he was hanging out in the crowd all night and he got (with the fans permission) the three best signs he saw.

“Look at that Gut” (referring to the Iron Sheik’s physique)

“6:30 says it’s time for the gym” (Sheik needs to do some situps)

“Singalong with the Sheik” in a big circle with a diagonal line running through it (meaning it’s not time)

Rad and the fans get a good laugh but it comes to a screeching halt when the Iron Sheik comes out and attacks Rad with a steel chair.  After a good couple of smacks across the back, Sheik tapped the top of his boot on the stage.  While Rad was doubled over, Sheik ran over and kicked Rad in the head sending him flying off the stage through a table below.  “HOLY SHIT” chants rang out as medics all ran out to check on Gumbo.  Sheik stood on the stage laughing.  He picked up the mic.  “I just broke you and now, you’re humble. Come back from that Gumbo Cajun.”  Sheik drops the mic and the fans let him have it.  He stood there soaking in the hatred from the fans as Rad is loaded onto a stretcher and taken to the back.  With that, the show comes to an end.

It now seems that the match between Rad Gumbo and the Iron Sheik tomorrow is in serious jeopardy.  The PPV is tomorrow so we will have to see how things turn out.   Stay tuned.
