Hello fans and
welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat. You may have noticed we haven’t been around
the last couple of weeks. Well, it turns
out that both of then venues our shows take place at (Tacoma, WA and Phoenix,
AZ) both had issues (Washington had leaking from rain and Phoenix had A/C
issues). Try as we could, we could not
find venues for our shows at all…even all of the bingo parlors were slammed
(both areas thrive on gambling and bingo is HOT). We opted to just give the talent time off to
continue to nurse those injuries and be ready to jump in feet first once we
were back up. Tacoma needed an extra
couple of days so our show today resumes from the warm (it’s exceeded over 100
degrees multiple times this year so far) and toasty town of Phoenix.
On the card today,
Hardcore Champion Apollo Gyze makes the trip south to defend his title against
Outback Oscar. The World Champion the
Banker is also in the house. Phoenix GM
Master Bull has agreed to host an invitational battle royal. 10 men (5 from Phoenix and 5 from Tacoma)
will all compete for a Money in the Bank contract. All this and more will be on the show so
let’s get this one moving.
Pyro goes off and
it looks like our show will be beginning with the 10 Man invitational battle
royal with the winner getting a contract for a future title show. One by one, the competitors come out. Representing Phoenix: Buzz Steel, Magnum ‘the King of Cones’ Kone,
Niven Snake, Muscles Weasley and Baron von Blood. Baron was talking smack to everyone in the
ring especially Buzz Steel. Next, the
Tacoma team came out: Texas Wildfire, Maximillian Redbeard, ‘Abs of Stone’
Shawn Austin, TNT and Ice Dagger. All 10
men got into the ring and then all hell broke loose once the bell rang. Here is the order of elimination:
Baron Von Blood (Reinhardt Schmitt) was eliminated by Texas Wildfire with LEAPING DDT
Maximillian Redbeard was eliminated by Muscles Weasley with MUSCLES CRUSH
Magnum Kone was eliminated by Niven Snake with SPEAR
Niven Snake was eliminated by Buzz Steel with REVERSE NECKBREAKER
Muscles Weasley was eliminated by Shawn 'Abs of Stone' Austin with SLEEPER
TNT (Templeton N. Townsend) was eliminated by Buzz Steel with GERMAN SUPLEX (after an illegal attack by Mean Jack Mason)
Shawn 'Abs of Stone' Austin was eliminated by Ice Dagger with THE ICE
Buzz Steel was eliminated by Ice Dagger with BACK BODY DROP (with an illegal assist from Baron von Blood)
Ice Dagger was eliminated by Texas Wildfire with HANGMAN CLOTHESLINE
Texas Wildfire wins the 10 Man Invitational Battle Royal!!!
The fans pop huge
as Texas Wildfire is handed a briefcase.
He holds it high and begins to walk to the back. As he was about half way up the ramp, the
music changed and out comes the World Champion the Banker with his manager Ruth
Heartless. The Banker and Wildfire stop
and look at each other and the Banker sneers at him before continuing down to
the ring.
The Banker
snatches the mic from the ring announcer and tells Master Bull that removing
the title match out of the equation for their upcoming match was a good idea as
he didn’t want to embarrass him any more than he had to. However, he didn’t appreciate the last minute
change of having his career on the line.
He says that he is the #1 guy in HCW and THAT is the only reason he’s
not complaining about it. He says that
he’s got this. He holds the title high
and the fans boo. His upper lip begins
to curl and he and Ruth head to the back with looks of disgust on their faces.
We cut to Master
Bull’s office. He keeps replaying the
Banker’s promo and says he’ll be glad once the Banker is gone. “Once he is out of here, we’ll need to hold a
tournament to crown a new champion.
However, I have to consider I may lose.”
He tilts his head in contemplation and taps his fingers on his upper
lip. He then picks up the phone to make
a call as we fade out.
We head back to
the ring for our next match. First, Sassy
Maxine DeVito comes out to booing from the crowd. Noticeably absent is ‘the Singapore
Sensation’ Matt Preacher. Preacher says
he couldn’t be there tonight for Maxine or Apollo but has full confidence that
his team will be successful. Next, Missy
Chick comes out and as she’s making her way down, Maxine gets on the mic and
tells her to put her spot in the Top 10 lineup on the line. Missy agrees.
Once the match begins, it was all very even with neither lady getting an
upper hand for 9 solid minutes. At the
10 min mark, Maxine locks in a chinlock but secretly chokes Missy. Missy ends up powering out of it and hits a
running one handed bulldog. Maxine locks
in the chinlock (and choke) once again.
Maxine then whips Missy to the ropes and hits a DEVISTATING kick to the
face that floored Missy. Maxine makes
the cover and gets the 3 count. Maxine
gets the win and moves up in the rankings while Missy drops. Maxine picked up Missy and called for the
Sass Attack. The ref tried to get her to
stop but the music hit and out runs Hayley Hailstone. Maxine drops Missy and exits the ring. Hayley helps Missy to her feet. Maxine yells at her and then throws her hands
up and walks away. Hayley leaves shortly
thereafter. (12 min)
We cut to the back
where the World Tag Team Champions Mean Jack Mason and Angry Jack Lawson are
cutting a promo.
Mean
Jack:
I just don't understand it. We gave Scooter J and TNT a brutal beating at
Critical Mass. Yet those two want another shot at us?
Angry
Jack: YOU TWO DON'T WANT ANY PART OF WHAT
WE'RE ABOUT!
Mean
Jack: My Angry friend, I believe the Mexicali
Flyers might be lonely in retirement. Maybe we just found them some company.
It’s time for our
next match. First, Tommy Lightning comes
out to booing from the crowd. He gets on
the mic and calls the Phoenix fans sheep for growing fat and lazy in their
mundane lives. Tommy says that he’s
pissed that he wasn’t in the Invitational Battle Royal as he would have won
that for sure. Tommy says that he wants to
fight and will take on anyone from the back who itching to get their asses
kicked. The music changes and we hear
“GUMBO 7:30 SAYS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” and out comes ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad
Gumbo to a big pop from the crowd. Gumbo
comes out with his manager Ms. Alexandria.
The duo make their way down to the ring.
As Gumbo was acknowledging the crowd, Tommy hits him from behind to
start the match. That was one of 3
offensive moves he had all match. Rad
unloaded on Tommy with lots of quick jabs.
5 minutes in, he goes for a pin but Tommy kicks out at 1. Rad hits a voodoo driver and then sets up for
the Cottonmouth Clutch. He dropped Tommy
(almost on his head) and made the cover getting the uncontested 1-2-3. Rad Gumbo gets the win and the fans couldn’t
be happier. Rad leaves. Tommy eventually gets up and yells at the ref
before finally heading to the back. (7
min)
We cut to outside
where we see a car pull up. The driver
gets out and opens the car door. Out
steps the Hardcore Champion Apollo Gyze.
Apollo is pissed that a limo didn’t pick him up. The driver explains that Master Bull wouldn’t
cover it and that just made Apollo all the madder. Apollo looks at the camera and say “Whoever
I’m fighting tonight, you will feel my wrath along with some tables, ladders
and chairs”. Apollo stormed into the
building.
We head back to
the ring for our next match. The lights
go dark and a single lantern lights the stage.
Wilber Townsend is standing there and he has a mic. He says that the fans need not worry about
Leon as Wilber is promising to turn him into more than the sum of his
parts. Wilber says that once the
transformation is complete, Leon will be a new man and will have Wilber to
thank. The lights come up and Wilber
heads down to the ring. He gets in and
the music changes almost immediately and we hear some loud “booms” and out
comes Anthony ‘Static’ Boom. The fans
pop loud for him and he makes his way down.
Wilber is looking at him like a man who hasn’t eaten in a week and now
has a fresh meal in front of him. Boom
looks on with caution as he enters the ring knowing how dangerous this man
really is. The match begins and Boom and
Wilber are practically even. They go
almost 13 minutes before any pin is attempted (Wilber chokes Boom on the ropes
before snapping him back into the ring.
Wilber then hits the Go to Sleep but he makes a sloppy cover and Boom
kicks out at 2. After a couple of
minutes, Boom hits the ropes only to run into the roadblock that was Wilber
Townsend. Wilber sat on Anthony and then
began hitting Boom with elbow shots. He
made the lazy cover again and Boom kicked out at two. Wilber gets up and Boom trips him and locks
in a Figure Four. Wilber struggles and
makes it to the ropes to break the hold.
Anthony began concentrating on Wilber’s leg. Both men looked up to see that the time limit
was approaching fast. Anthony got Wilber
into the corner and reared back for a forearm shot but Wilber ducked and slid
out of the ring as the bell rang bringing this one to a draw finish. Wilber walked away but had a creepy smile on
his face. Wilber looked ant Anthony and
mouthed that the two of them would meet again.
(20 min draw)
Starbuck Steel is
backstage cutting an interview when the Axe walks in. Axe tells him that he may be in line for the
next World title shot but he is not the most deserving. Starbuck tells him that if he wants to take
his shot, he is welcome to try. Axe says
he’s heading to the ring. Starbuck
finishes and begins to head that way.
The Axe comes out
first to a nice pop from the crowd.
Tonight, he is challenging Starbuck for his spot in the World Title top
10 lineup. The Axe says that he is more
than capable of handling multiple titles and also throws out a challenge to the
TV Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine.
The fans pop at the mention of Drew.
Starbuck Steel makes his way out and he gets a loud pop from the
crowd. He makes his way down and extends
his hand to the Axe who shakes it. The
ref reminds us that the title spot only changes hands on pin or
submission. The match begins. Starbuck begins with the Buckinator and Axe
hits a power punch. Axe hits a second
power punch. Starbuck comes back with
the Buck-U neckbreaker and follows it up with the hangman DDT. Axe hits multiple elbow shots. Starbuck hits the Buck-U again but Axe takes
the wind out of his sails with a huge knee to the midsection (maybe a little
low?). Starbuck manages to shake it off
and hits a Shooting Star Buck press and an out of this world dropkick. Axe hits a forearm uppercut that rattles
Starbuck’s teeth. He then hurls Starbuck
over the top rope. He sets Starbuck up
against the ringside barrier and then charges hitting a spear. The barrier does not give way and Starbuck
crumbles to the floor. Axe rolls back in
to, what he thinks is, stop the count but the ref was already on 9 and just as
Axe rolled in, he counted to 10. Axe
gets the win via countout but he does not move up in the rankings. Axe is frustrated. He goes out to check on Starbuck and helps
him to his feet. He then helps Starbuck
to the back. (7 ½ min)
Davis ‘the Hoff’
Hoffmeister comes out and makes his way to the ring to a big pop from the
crowd. Davis asks for a mic and reminds
the fans (who don’t need reminding) that he is more than a contender for the
Banker and calls the World Champion out.
The Banker comes out and says that he doesn’t believe Davis is worthy of
anything. Davis says that he will fight
anyone of the Banker’s choosing in order to prove it. The Banker agrees and says he will pick
someone for Davis to fight at this Sunday’s Super Show live from Tacoma,
Washington. The Banker is the first to
leave. Davis sticks around for a few
minutes and then departs.
It’s time for our
main event. The challenger Outback
Oscar comes out first and gets a pop from the crowd. Once he was in the ring, the music changed
and we hear “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” and out comes the Hardcore
Champion. Apollo gets into the ring and
showboats with the title much to the fans dismay. Just before the bell rang, we see someone
making their way out. It’s Nix
Anderson. He walks down and waves to
Apollo. He goes and sits at the commentary
desk. This threw Apollo off his game and
Oscar was able to take advantage. This
went on for the entire match with Nix standing up (to stretch) and Apollo
losing his momentum. At one point, the
ref got hit and went down. Nix thought
he was being coy when he slid some brass knuckles to Oscar in the ring. Apollo saw it and was able to nullify the
damage before it happened. 14 minutes
in, Apollo pulled Oscar out of the ring and began jawjacking with Nix. Apollo slammed Oscar’s head into the
commentary table telling Nix that this would be him. Apollo grabs the brass knuckles and rolls
Oscar back in. Apollo goes for a brass
knuckles shot but Oscar reverses it taking the champ down with an Australian
leg sweep. The brass knuckles go sliding
out of the ring. Oscar saw that time was
running out and hit a swinging neckbreaker.
He went for a pin but Apollo kicked out. Apollo then hits a triple powerbomb but Nix
distracts him from going for a pin.
Apollo then hit a jumping clothesline on Oscar but the bell rang
preventing a pin. The match ends in a
draw. Nix gets up and leaves never
taking his eyes off of Apollo. Nix turns
around and he’s holding the Hardcore title.
He took it while no one was looking.
He laughs and holds it up and Apollo complains from the ring. Nix lays it on the ramp and montions that the
next time he holds that title, it will be as the champion. The show comes to an end with Apollo having a
tantrum in the ring. (20 min draw)
