HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2024 #988 – 3/09/24

Hello wrestling fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Before we get started on the action, we want to kick off the show with the announcement of our 2nd inductee into the HCW Hall of Fame.  The music plays and the fans pop huge as the Steel Curtain – Buzz and Starbuck Steel are shown on the screen.  Buzz was individually inducted last year and now he and his brother go in as a tag team – one of the best to lace up the boots here in HCW.  We give them our most sincere congratulations.

Pyro goes off and our first match is ready to get going.

Match #1:  Luna Shadow vs Penny Hall

Penny Hall makes her way out to the ring to a negative reaction from the crowd.  Penny hasn’t won a match yet this year and she’s hoping tonight she’ll finally get a W.  Luna Shadow comes out next and she gets a nice pop from the crowd.  The match goes 25 minutes and Penny managed to toss Luna out of the ring twice hoping for a count-out win but Luna kept disappointing.  Luna kept locking her in the Abysmal Lock multiple times but she couldn’t get Penny to tap out.  Finally, at the 25 min mark, Luna connects with the Celestial Elbow Drop and hooks the leg for the 1-2-3.  Luna gets the win and Penny walks away with another L.

Match #2:  Tommy / Azrael / Fang vs The Muscles Trio

The Muscles Trio come out first and do their goofy shtick before getting into the ring.  The music changes and out comes the Ambassador and the team of Tommy ‘the Morningstar’ Sullivan, Azrael and Dr. Red Fang.  Tommy has a mic and he talks about how he managed to send the so-called Triple Threat back where they came from…obscurity.  They head to the ring.  Due to a miscommunication, while trying to attack the Muscles on the outside, Azrael and Dr. Red Fang collide and get injured taking them out of the majority of the match.  It didn’t matter much as Tommy held his own until both of his teammates were able to recover.  As the match got closer to the time limit, Azrael got tagged in and he got in a few shots before tagging in Dr. Red Fang.  Fang got in a shot and was going for the pin but the Muscles broke it up.  The Ambassador got on the apron and shoved the ref and the ref turned and reprimanded him before calling for the bell as the time limit expired.  The Ambassador’s team narrowly misses a disqualification but takes the draw instead.  Both teams left the ring without further interaction.  (30 min draw)

A video airs of SCW Commissioner Shane Douglas berating SCW Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle for his team’s loss at the Warzone PPV.  Douglas tells Angle to fix it or else.

Match #3:  Dennis Marshall vs Tobias Snake

Tobias Snake, member of the Snake Pit, comes out first to booing from the crowd.  He flips off some of the fans and makes his way to the ring.  As he jaw jacks with the fans, the music changes and out comes Dennis Marshall.  Dennis gets a nice pop from the crowd.  He makes his way into the ring and the match begins right away.  A couple of minutes into the match, Tobias distracted the ref and Dennis was attacked by 5th Column member Baron von Blood who came in from the crowd.  After incapacitating him, he left the ring.  Tobias picked up Dennis and hit a Hook and Ladder Facebuster and rolled him up for the 1-2-3.  Tobias steals the win.  Dennis makes it to his feet and asks for a mic.  He calls out Baron von Blood for the cheap attack and says Baron is on his radar now.

Up next, we have the debut of another new HCW wrestler.

Debut of “Orange Fury” Owen Zestwell.

He will team with Julius Squeezer.  Owen, accompanied by his tag team partner, makes his way down to the ring.  He is decked out all in orange.  He gets a nice pop from the crowd and shakes hands with them all the way.

Owen gets on the mic and introduces himself saying the HCW Universe already knows Julius.  He says he may be on the opposite side of the bell curve when it comes to age but he has no plans of calling it quits anytime soon.  Julius takes the mic and says that, as a thought, they should be known as “Orange Jul” -  but Owen cuts him off.  “Whoa there.  We don’t want to get into any hot water with Warren (Buffet) so we best find a new name for our team.  What about “Orange Fusion Force”?  The fans pop.  Julius likes the ideal also.  Owen removes his jacket revealing his orange shirt that reads “Back the OFF” (Orange Fusion Force).  The fans pop again and Owen gets ready for his opponent.

(Backstage, the dimly lit room is adorned with flickering lanterns casting eerie shadows on the walls. Wilber Townsend, clad in ominous black attire, sits on a worn-out wooden chair, surrounded by the mystique of darkness. The camera focuses on him as he begins to speak in a hauntingly cryptic tone.)

Wilber Townsend: (smirking) Ahh, welcome to my world, where the shadows dance and the echoes of the past linger in the air. Tonight, my friends, the theater of pain unfolds in the squared circle, where the echoes of screams become a symphony of despair.

(He gazes into the distance, his eyes seemingly consumed by an otherworldly force.)

Wilber Townsend: Jack Lumber, you stand before me, a mere mortal stepping into the abyss. Tonight, the HCW US Title hangs in the balance, a prize coveted by those who dare to walk the line between darkness and despair. But oh, Jack, you're not just facing me in that ring. No, no, no.

(He leans forward, the flickering light revealing a sinister grin on his face.)

Wilber Townsend: You face the shadows that dance at my command, the demons that whisper sweet nothings in my ear. This is not a battle of flesh and bone; it's a clash of souls. The canvas becomes a stage, and we are but players in this tragic tale.

(He stands up, the room seemingly darker as he moves.)

Wilber Townsend: Jack Lumber, tonight, the ring will be our theater, the audience mere witnesses to the darkness that consumes us. The HCW US Title is not just a symbol of glory; it's a key to a realm where pain and pleasure intertwine, where victory is painted in shades of despair.

(As he exits the room, the lanterns flicker, casting long, eerie shadows on the walls, leaving a chilling feeling in the air.)

Wilber Townsend: (whispering) Tonight, Jack, you step into my world. Brace yourself for the reckoning, for in the end, when the dust settles, only the echoes of your screams will remain. Welcome to the nightmare, Jack Lumber. Welcome to the darkness.

Match #5: The Main Event:  US Title Match:  Wilber Townsend vs Jack Lumber

Jack walks out for his next match with Wilber, he comes out donning his typical flannel, blue jeans, boots, and suspenders.... and clown makeup?! He's also carrying a large black hefty bag full of who knows what... strange behavior for our favorite lumberjack.

"I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em am I right?" He shouts as he gets ahold of a mic. He then goes for a dead sprint to the lumber lounge and swings the bag where a small (pre-cut) hole in the bottom of the garbage bag bursts wide open sending hundreds of clown masks flying into the lumber lounge. "Let's show this wannabe how much of a clown he is and beat him at his own game! He's gonna melt under the pressure like his own sh*tty clown mask!"

Once Jack made it to the ring and was getting the loudest pop of the night, the music changed to an eerie tone and the US Champion comes out but he is not wearing is half-melted Pennywise mask.  He seems really put off when he walked by the Lumber Lounge and saw the small contingent of clowns looking back at him.  It seems Jack can play the mind games too.  Tonight’s match will be Iron Man rules with a 60 minute time limit.  Whomever can score the most pins or submissions in the 60 minutes will win the match.

1st fall:  Jack Lumber gets the win after hitting Wilber with the Axe at the 17 min mark.

2nd fall:  Jack Lumber gets the win after hitting Wilber with the Axe at the 16 min mark.

Right after the 2nd fall, Jack needs to get a towel of some sort from someone in the Lumber lounge and wipe off all the makeup. Getting back to back wins has put Wilber on tilt.  When Jack does this, the entire lumber lounge takes off their masks and begins throwing them on the ground, stomping on them; booing Wilber like crazy in the process. It’s like a mad house and we've never seen the classy lumber lounge act this way before. Guess they didn't take Wilber's cheating too well when he stole the title from Jack! Jack, inspired by the intensity of his fans takes it up another level.

3rd fall:  Wilber Townsend gets the win after ramming Jack into a steel post busting him open at the 15 min mark.

4th fall:  Wilber Townsend gets the win after hitting Jack with a Lifting Sideslam at the 7 min mark.

As the end of the match looms near, the World Champion the Wicked Prophet comes down and sits at ringside to scout the final moments of this match.

5th fall:  The final 5 minutes of the match come to an end as the bell rings signaling the time limit.  Both men were tied in the number of falls 2 to 2.  Exhausted, Wilber takes his title and heads to the back.  .  Since Jack did not have more wins, Wilber retains his title.  The fans give Jack a nice ovation for giving it his best shot.  Jack had not noticed Prophet at ringside nor did he see him when he entered the ring and blindsided him.  Prophet then beats down an already exhausted lumberjack and clocks him with the SMITE!

The show ends with Prophet standing over Jack’s unconscious form holding his World Title high as the fans boo the crap out of him.

Lots more to come so stay tuned.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2024 #987 – 3/02/24 – Fallout from the PPV

Hello wrestling fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  First things first, we want to address the fallout from last weekend’s Warzone PPV.

As he was not able to defeat the Wicked Prophet, Starbuck Steel has officially ended his in-ring career.  A very bittersweet ending to a fantastic career.

The Morningstar Tommy Sullivan’s team (including Azrael and Dr. Red Fang) defeated SCW’s Triple Threat after Elias was pinned.  Sam Adonis and Lee Moriarty were taken out before the match began so it was really all on Elias and the numbers just proved too great to overcome.

Luciana Albano was the last person standing after the Wargames match getting the win for her team.  After the match, she was attacked by Korbi Kong and was issued a challenge for the title.  Luciana accepted and we will see the two of them face off at Critical Mass.

Mr. X is the new Hardcore champion having defeated OP Cunningham.  Being a title holder now should prevent him from getting bumped from shows but who knows….

Evan Stockwell defeated the Banker to retain the TV title.  Evan’s run as TV Champion has just begun and with Ruth Heartless by his side, he is slated for greatness.

The Alaskan Wildman Jax Brenner put the threat of Madman Mason to rest.  He now wants to look to a title shot.  He doesn’t care who…he’ll beat them up regardless.

After Wicked Prophet retained the title, on his way to the back, he stopped and disrespected members in the Lumber Lounge.  Jack Lumber was there and tells Prophet he’s coming for him but first, issues a challenge to Wilber Townsend for the US title next week.

Dennis Marshall demands a rematch vs Apollo.  Apollo tried to blow him off but GM Max McGillicutty told Dennis he would make the match happen.  Apollo was not thrilled with the news.

Tonight, we introduce the newest member of the HCW roster…Zack ‘Commando’ Brown.  He will be joining with Col. Flagg and ‘the Bounty Hunter’ Jake Montrose to form a new team called “The Flaggship”.

In the heart of the wrestling world, a new force emerged, embodying the perfect blend of discipline, strength, and determination. Zack "Commando" Brown, a former elite member of the Special Forces, stepped into the ring with a mission to conquer and dominate. His journey from the battlefield to the squared circle was not just a transition; it was a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence.

Zack's story began on the front lines of a covert military operation, where he earned his nickname "Commando" due to his exceptional leadership skills and unparalleled combat prowess. After years of serving his country with distinction, Zack faced a difficult decision when a life-altering injury forced him into early retirement from the military.

Driven by an unyielding spirit, Zack refused to let adversity define him. He turned to professional wrestling, a world where the battlefield shifted from war zones to the squared circle. Zack's military background brought a unique intensity to his wrestling style, combining strategic thinking with raw power. His presence alone commanded respect, and his in-ring abilities left audiences in awe.

Enter Col. Sam Flagg, a cunning and diabolical mastermind who recognized the potential of aligning with someone as disciplined and fierce as Zack "Commando" Brown. Col. Flagg, with a mysterious past of his own, saw in Zack the perfect weapon to carry out his sinister plans within the wrestling world.

The unlikely alliance between Zack and Col. Flagg created a formidable duo that struck fear into the hearts of their opponents. Col. Flagg, with his strategic mind and conniving tactics, orchestrated chaos outside the ring, while Zack enforced order inside it. Together, along with Jake ‘the Bounty Hunter’ Montrose, they became a force to be reckoned with, leaving a trail of defeated adversaries in their wake along with dominance and calculated chaos.

Pyro goes off and our show is ready to get underway.

Match #1:  Zack Brown w/Col Flag vs Joe ‘Jack Hammer’ Sanders

Joe Sanders made his way to the ring to a nice reaction from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and waits for his opponent.  The music changes and out comes “The Commando” Zack Brown.  He is accompanied to the ring by Col. Flagg.  The duo are booed as they head to the ring.  Flagg flips off a bunch of fans but Zack remains focused.  He climbs into the ring and the match begins.

Zack Brown gets the win in his debut match and some of the fans actually seem to like him.  That is, until Flagg started to harass them and then they turned on him.  Flagg raised Zack’s arm in victory and then left to head to the back (but Flagg still insisted on harassing the fans).

Match #2:  Alejandro Guerrero vs Negropolis

Next up, Negropolis comes out and is booed before he ever steps on stage.  He flips the fans off and makes his way to the ring with both middle fingers extended.  He gets in the ring and begins jaw jacking with a small group of fans.  The music changes and the fans pop as Alejandro Guerrero comes out.  Quite the opposite reaction that his opponent just received.  He makes his way to the ring and shakes hands with the fans.  He climbs into the ring only to be attacked before the bell by Negropolis.  Lee rolls to the outside in an effort to catch his breath and realized the ref was counting so he rolled back in just in the nick of time.  After that, it was all Guerrero.  Alejandro beat Negropolis from pillar to post with Lee getting a couple of pin attempts in but Negropolis kept kicking out.  In the final moments of the match, Lee asks the crowd if he should take a page from the late Eddie Guerrero’s playbook and they give him a resounding approval.  He takes Negropols to the corner and delivers a bulldog, He then rolls him up (and in an homage to Eddie’s ‘cheating’), and Lee hooks some of the tights to secure the 1-2-3.  Alejandro gets the win and the fans approve.  He then heads to the back.  (13 min)

Match #3:  Steel Smashers vs Dominic Marconi & JR Fargo

The Magnificent One and the Italian Thoroughbred make their way out first to a loud pop from the crowd.   They shake hands with the fans and get into the ring.  After a moment, the music changes and out comes the Steel Smashers.  They are booed as they head to the ring.  They climb in the ring and stand nose to nose with their opponents.  The bout begins and it’s pretty evenly matched up.  We actually make it to the 18 minute mark before things go awry for our fan favorites.  At this point, the New Sicilians came out and Dick and Vinnie stood on the stage smirking while the fans booed.  Juan Raul and Dominic tried to concentrate on the match but with the constant looking over their shoulders, it gave the Smashers control of the match.  At the 22 minute mark, Dominic was making a comeback and tagged JR in.  As soon as he stepped out of the ring, the New Sicilians, who had made their way to commentary, smashed Dominic with a steel chair taking him out of the match.  JR took his eyes off his opponent for a split second and that was all Smasher #2 needed to hit a bodyslam on JR’s already sore back and rolled him up for the 1-2-3.  The Steel Smashers get the win but leave almost immediately when Dick and Vinnie decided to get in the ring.  They stood over JR with a steel chair in hand and were ready to inflict some damage until Alejandro came running back down and got into the ring.  Vinnie swung the chair at Lee only for him to hit a dropkick against the chair which backfired in Vinnie’s face.  The blow sent him out of the ring.  JR and Lee were set to go after Dick but he quickly exited the ring, grabbed Vinnie and then headed to the back.  I’m sure this is not over between all them. (23 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

The Omegatron then lights up and declares that tonight, the first member of the 2024 Hall of Fame class would be announced RIGHT NOW!  The lights go off and as soon as they came back on, standing on the stage was…VIOLET VALKYRIE!  Violet is the first member to be inducted into this year’s class.  She gets a standing ovation and she is almost overcome with emotion.   She heads the ring and with each step, the pop gets louder and louder.  She climbs in the ring and by now, the fans’ response is almost deafening.  She takes a mic but only waits a moment giving the fans their time to thank her.  Once quiet enough, she begins to speak.

“Hey HCW!  Looks who’s back!  Now, I’m not returning to the ring…at least not in the way you might think.  I may not be able to actively compete anymore but I do have something left to give.  But first, thank YOU to all the fans who have supported me as I accept the honor of being inducted into the HOF.  Secondly, as I said, I still have some to give so with that said, I will be returning to HCW as a mentor to the only and only, and my BFF, Korbi Kong!”  The fans pop at this announcement.  Violet continues.  “Luciana Albano is a menace who doesn’t care who she hurts along the way.  I’m going to give Korbi all my knowledge to help prepare her for when she gets her shot again at the Ladies Title.  With all this said, my tutoring begins…now.”

“KORBI KONG SMASH” blares through the loudspeakers and Korbi makes her way out.  The fans pop as Korbi makes her way to the ring and hugs her BFF.  Korbi’s road to the title begins here.  The music changes and out comes her opponent Felicia Cummings who is accompanied by her sister Betsy.  The twins are booed as they make their way to the ring.  Felicia mocks Violet some before the match begins.

Match #4:   Korbi Kong w/Violet vs Felicia Cummings w/Betsy

Korbi dominated early but then interference from Betsy caused things to go Felicia’s way.  Felicia managed to hold Korbi at bay while Betsy continued to taunt Violet.  At the 14 minute mark, Felicia went for a sunset flip but Korbi dropped down on her chest.  She then went to the corner and climbed to the top turnbuckle.  Betsy tried to jump on the apron to knock Korbi down but Violet pulled her off the apron and Betsy fell to the floor.  Korbi then jumped delivered a Mile High Elbow drop and she covered Felicia hooking the leg and getting the 1-2-3.  Korbi Kong gets the win and the fans pop huge for her.  Korbi stands tall as Violet raises her arm as the victor.  The duo then head to the back.  The Cummings twins follow shortly thereafter.

Match #5:  The Main Event:  Six Man Title Match:  The Albano Family vs the Hubers

It’s now time for our main event.  First, the Hubers (Junior, Butch, and Ferb) come out and get a sight reaction from the crowd.  Although both teams are heels, the Albano’s are despised even more.  They enter the ring but don’t wait long until the music changes and out comes the Six Man Tag Team Champions Aldo and Carlo Albano with Rigg A Mortis and their manager Pierre Boulay who is carrying a portrait of Capt. Lou.  The champs hit the ring and go right on the offensive.  4 minutes in, the Hubers target the enforcer Rigg and take him down and out of the match.  This now gave the Hubers a 3 on 2 advantage but it did little good.  Aldo and Carlo open major cans of whopp-ass on the Hubers and totally dominated until Carlo decided to end the match hitting Junior with a bulldog and his feet on the ropes for a 1-2-3.  The Albano’s get the win and by this time, Rigg had recovered and joined the family in throwing the Hubers out of the ring.  The Albano’s stand tall as the fans boo them.

The show comes to an end with the Albano’s getting the loudest negative reaction from the crowd all night.  Pierre stood center and held Capt. Lou’s portrait high.

More to come…stay tuned.
