Hello fans and
welcome back to our latest installment of the HCW wrestling newsletter. Lots of exciting action on today’s show with
Jack Lumber challenging the Banker for the TV title; a contract signing between
Ladies Champion Sassy Maxine DeVito and her number one contender Catalina
Harper and a main event headlined by the World Tag Team Champions the Steel
Curtain defending their titles against the Smashers. All this and more are heading your way.
Pyro goes off and
the show is getting ready to begin.
First, Killa Pops makes his way out to a nice pop from the crowd. He is wearing his 6 Man tag team belt. He high fives the fans and makes his way into
the ring. He continues to get the crowd
pumped up for his match. The music then
changes and out comes his challenger Niven Snake. He is accompanied by the Snake Pit. The Pit do a fist bump and then Niven makes
his way to the ring. He steps over the
top rope and is glaring at Pops. Niven
is booed as he gets into Pops’ face and pushes him out of his way. Pops goes right on the offensive as the bell
rings and Niven was totally caught off guard.
Pops just dominated the match and at the 13 minute mark, he hits Niven
with the Pimp Drop. He goes for the pin
scoring the win and then bails out of the ring as the rest of the Snake Pit
rush out to try and attack him. He
laughs as he grabbed his title and took off through the crowd. The Pit were not happy. Eventually they left. (13 min)
With this win, Pops is back in the World title top 10.
Backstage, the
Ladies Champion Sassy Maxine DeVito is walking towards her dressing room. A random guy walking by asks her how her day
is going and she stops and pie faces the guy shoving him to the ground and
walks away laughing.
We head back to
the ring for our next match. First,
Baron von Blood comes out to massive booing from the crowd. Once in the ring, the music changed and the
fans popped huge as Davis Hoffmeister comes out. Davis
high fives the fans as he makes his way down to the ring. Just before entering, Karl Braun and Oswald
Zimmerman rush down and attack him from behind beating him down. This brings out Drew the Canadian Love
Machine. Drew manages to drive off the
attackers with a steel chair. GM Master
Bull comes out and says that the attack was totally uncalled for and asks Drew
and Davis if they wanted a handicap match.
D&D quickly accepted and our singles match is now a 3 on 2 handicap
match. Even with the 5th
Column in full force, they were no match for Davis and Drew. Both men hit the Column with everything but
the kitchen sink but those dirty rats kept making the save. 25 minutes in, Davis locked Karl up with the
Hollywood Clutch but Karl wouldn’t tap out.
Davis released him but held on to him as he tagged Drew in. Drew tuned up the band and blasted Karl with
a superkick. Davis ran over knocking
Oswald and the Baron from the ring apron.
Drew made the cover and got the 3 count.
Davis and Drew were victorious in their match. They celebrated with the fans before heading
to the back. (26 min)
Killa Pops is
backstage and says he was robbed in his match vs the Wicked Prophet. He says he’s working his way back to the top
and will get another shot. Prophet will
know his name for sure.
We’re ready for
the next match. First, ‘the Bounty
Hunter’ Jake Montrose comes out and is booed as he heads to the ring. He jaw jacks with the fans before the
loudspeaker blares “GUMBO 7:30 MEANS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” and out comes the
US Champion, Rad Gumbo. The fans are on
their feet cheering for the Ragin Cajun.
Gumbo comes out with his manager Ms. Alexandria. Gumbo makes his way to the ring. The title is not on the line in this
match. Gumbo started off strong but got
thrown out of the ring a few minutes in.
Montrose followed him out and bodyslammed him on the exposed
concrete. Gumbo barely made it back in
by the 9 count. Gumbo would battle back
locking Jake up with the New Orleans Crab but Montrose made it to the ropes to
break the hold. 15 minutes in, Gumbo
went for the Crab again but Jake wouldn’t tap out. Gumbo picked him up and hit the Voodoo
driver. Jake is out. Rad makes the cover and gets the 3
count. Rad Gumbo scores the win and begins
to celebrate but he is attacked by Apollo Gyze who drops him with a steel chair
shot to the back. Apollo picks him up
and nails a spin-out powerbomb. He walks
over and grabs the US title. He holds it
over his head before dropping it on Gumbo.
Apollo says he’ll make Rad scream “I Quit” and he will walk out as the
new champion once again. (14 min for the
match; 5 min for the aftermath)
We go backstage
with the man challenging for the TV title tonight – Jack Lumber. Lumber gets on the mic. “Banker, you fight without honor. This guy right here (pointing to himself)
Jack Lumber, brother nature himself, will have his revenge. Your cheap shots
may have gotten some tree sap out of this old knot (taps on his head) but you
will pay it back with the contribution of another new tree planted. I am going to win fair and square. Feel the power of the Axe!” Jack walks off.
The Banker is also
backstage with his manager Ruth Heartless.
The Banker laughs as he watches Jack’s promo. “Listen tree hugger, you are as big a goof as
that god awful crap you wear.
Flannel? Really? Try living in our century you hick. I’ll beat you so bad you’ll go hide in your
forest and never show your ugly mug around here anymore. HAHAHA!”
It’s time for the
TV title match. First, the challenger
Jack Lumber comes out to a loud pop from the crowd. He comes out and stands on stage. He then begins to make his way to the ring
but stops by the Lumber Lounge. The
inhabitants of the Lumber Lounge are all dressed in tree costumes giving the
impression Jack has the support of the forest behind him in his fight. He nods at them and continues his journey to
the ring. Once there, he starts to get
the crowd pumped up but the music changes abruptly and out comes the TV
Champion the Banker. The fans boo him
heavily and he sneers at them as he and his manager Ruth Heartless make their
way to the ring. He enters the ring and
hands the briefcase to Ruth. He takes
the TV title off and holds it high mocking the fans. He turns and mocks Jack and then laughs. He hands the title to the ref and the bell
rings to kick this one off. Jack had control early on but Ruth’s constant
interference gave her man the advantage.
20 minutes into the match, just as Jack was making a comeback, Ruth
tried to interfere and Jack grabbed hold of her. The Banker distracted the ref and then Ruth
blasted Jack in the arm and shoulder with the briefcase. The Banker quickly followed it up by ramming
Jack’s arm into the turnbuckle and then taking the wind out of his sails
nailing a rib-possession gut buster.
Jack went for a knee lift and the Banker locked in the ATM fee
armbar. He wrenched on it in the middle
of the ring and Jack had no choice but to tap out. The Banker steals another win keeping his
title. He is handed the title back and
is joined by Ruth in the ring. The
Banker hands his title to Ruth and walks over to Jack. He then roughly removes Jack’s flannel shirt. He then climbs the turnbuckle and proceeds to
rip the shirt in half. The fans’ booing intensified
and they began throwing stuff in the ring at him. He and Ruth ended up taking off to avoid
getting doused in whatever was being thrown at him. The ref helps Jack to his feet and he gets a
nice ovation from the crowd as he makes his way to the back.
The Smashers are
backstage cutting a promo. “Steel
Curtain, you have ducked us for months hiding behind weaker opponents so that
you didn’t have to face us. Tonight, we
tear down the Curtain and reign supreme as the greatest tag team in HCW.”
We head to the
next match. First, Lady Hermann comes
out to a loud booing from the crowd. She
heads down to the ring and enters. She
yells at the fans who yell back. Then,
the Omegatron lights up and we flash backstage as Korbi Kong is making her way
towards the ring. She goes to open a
door by pulling on it (she needed to push) and she ends up ripping the door off
its hinges. She places the door against
the wall and says “Huh” and then makes her way out from behind the curtain and
down to the ring. The fans pop pretty
loud for her and that causes her to smirk.
As she makes her way down, she slaps the outstretched hands of the
fans. She enters the ring and walks past
Lady Hermann climbing to the second turnbuckle and holds her hands high. The fans start a “Korbi Kong” chant and she
smiles at the acknowledgement. Lady
Hermann attacks her starting this one off. Korbi and Lady Hermann were pretty evenly
matched up in the first 5 minutes of the match but then the appearance of
Ladies Champion Sassy Maxine DeVito on stage threw Korbi off her game. Lady Hermann rolled her up grabbing a handful
of tights (blocking it from the ref’s view) and gets the 1-2-3. The ref raises Lady Hermann’s hand in victory
and Korbi scowls at Maxine who laughs and walks off. (6 min)
Back in the GM
office, Jack Lumber approaches GM Max McGillicutty. Max apologizes for the chaos in the ring and
asks what he can do. Jack responds “Normally,
I’d say I want immediate revenge and a rematch but I had a chance to think this
through and I want a contract for a match against the Banker that I can redeem
at any time.” Max reaches into his desk and
pulls out a piece of paper. He writes that
this is for a future shot at the TV title and leaves the date blank.” Jack takes the paper. “That will do. Thank you.”
Jack walks off whistling.
A table is set up
in the ring and GM Max McGillicutty is there already. He says that we are set for our contract
signing. He introduces the challenger
and Catalina Harper makes her way out first.
The fans boo her but she turns and hisses at them. She gets into the ring and sits at one side
of the table. Max then introduces the Ladies
Champion and out comes Sassy Maxine DeVito.
The fans boo her also and she just sneers at them and makes her way to
the ring. She enters the ring and sits
opposite Catalina. She sets up the title
on the table and Catalina begins to paw at it like a cat. Maxine looks at her in disgust and pulls the
title away. Max slides the contract to
Catalina who after quickly reading it (states that regardless of what happens, the
match WILL happen) signs it quickly. Max
then hands it to Maxine who takes her sweet time but eventually signs. She gets up and then pie faces Catalina on
her way out of the ring. Catalina grabs
her by the hair and slams her head into the table. She then picks up Catalina and bodyslams her
hard on the table. She grabs one of the
chairs and smashes it across Maxine’s back dropping her to the mat. She exits the ring and grabs a steel chair
and then climbs back in. She then sticks
Maxine’s foot under the chair and then climbs to the second turnbuckle. Maxine is trying to crawl out of the ring but
is not getting anywhere. Just then,
Korbi Kong comes out and stands on stage.
Maxine looks to her pleading but Korbi looks at her, smirks and then
walks away. Then Catalina jumps off the
turnbuckle and lands feet first on the chair and Maxine’s ankle. Maxine grabs her ankle and is rolling on
the ground in pain. Max looks at her and
says “Well, you did have this coming” and he walks away. Catalina grabs the title and holds it over
her head before dropping it on Maxine and then leaves. Medics come out and end up taking Maxine out
on a stretcher. Regardless of what
condition her foot/ankle are in, the match is still on.
The World Tag Team
Champions Buzz and Starbuck Steel are backstage. Buzz says that the Smashers are nothing more
than copies of the Ascension who were just copies of Demolition. Starbuck adds that Demolition was just a copy
of the Legion of Doom The Road Warriors – perhaps the greatest tag team they
never faced. Buzz tells Starbuck to
focus. “Tonight, Smashers, we will be
the ones doing the smashing and after tonight, you’ll never want to get in the
ring with us again.” Starbuck leans in
and says (and the fans chime in) “Word”.
It’s time for our Main Event. First, the Smashers (#1 and 2) come out to
massive booing from the crowd. They get
in the ring and verbally assault the fans.
The music changes and the fans pop huge as the Steel Curtain make their
way out. They stand on the stage and
hold their titles high. They begin the
walk down to the ring and shake hands with a few of the fans. They get in the ring and hold the titles
above their heads. They hand the titles
to the ref and the match begins.
