HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #806 – Tacoma Thunder (10/27)

Hello fans and welcome back to the latest installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  The House of Horrors PPV is only a couple of days away.  At the end of the show, we will recap the matches that will be taking place at the PPV on 10/30 – one day before Halloween; although it may be just as scary.  Every match will be some sort of specialty match and we will recap all those at the end of today’s show

The show begins with Catalina Harper and the Anytime/Anywhere champion Sassy Maxine DeVito chatting. Catalina begs to be part of the triple threat match and says she is instrumental in ensuring that Maxine not only becomes the Ladies Champion but protects the AA title from schmucks who may want to try to steal it for themselves.  Maxine says she likes the idea but she is not the decision maker.  Maxine suggests they go talk to GM Max McGillicutty.

Pyro goes off and our first match of the night is ready to begin.  First, Outback Oscar makes his way out first.  Oscar surprisingly hasn’t been on TV much as of late so the fans welcome him with thunderous applause.  Oscar interacts with the fans as he makes his way down to the ring.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes Nix Anderson. Nix comes out strutting all cocky which elicited some booing from the fans.  He gets into the ring and gets ready for action.  The match is quick paced and the two stayed even throughout the entire match.  Neither could get an advantage over the other.  20 minutes later, the bell rings bringing this one to a draw finish.  The two men stare at each other before shaking hands.  Oscar is the first to leave.  He begins his trek to the back.  Nix goes to leave but he is ambushed by Dr. Red Fang.  Fang gets in one shot and then runs off.  Nix gives chase.  (20 min time limit draw)

We head to the back and we’re with Killa Pops.  The interviewer asks Killa if he’s ready for his match against Apollo and Killa says that with all the crap that Apollo has put him through, he won’t be apologizing for anything that will happen in the ring.  Killa smiles and heads towards the ring.

The next match begins with Superstar Chic Monroe making his way out to the ring.  He receives a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Next, we hear “Killa Pops is in da hoooooooooouse” and Pops makes his way out to a pop from the crowd.  He makes his way down and into the ring.  This one also starts pretty quickly.   Chic hits a straight jacket suplex and goes for a quick pin but Killa kicks out easily.   A few minutes later, Pops wrenches in a headlock but Chic stuns him with a swiss uppercut and then trips him out of the ring.  Out of nowhere, Apollo Gyze comes out and distracts Pops.  Killa rolls right back in but Chic rolls him up (and with a handful of tights), he gets the 1-2-3.  Apollo cost Killa the match.  Apollo rushes in the ring and knocks Killa to the floor.  Apollo picks Killa up and powerslams him through a table destroying it in the process.  Apollo stands over him and says “I’ll see you at the PPV, punk.”  Apollo walks off.  Medics come out to check on Killa but he’s already up.  Killa shakes his head and promises Apollo will pay…in spades.  (7 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

Back in the office of the GM, Anytime/Anywhere Champion ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito and Catalina Harper plead their case to Max.  Max tells them that he can’t see a reason to add Catalina to the event but Ms. Harper makes it well known that she defeated Kimberly Kiccsass down in Phoenix and did it pretty solidly.  Max agrees saying he watched the match.   Max eventually decides to make the Ladies title match a Fatal Four Way.  Maxine and Catalina smile, thank the GM and then leave.

We head back to the ring and our next match is already begun.  Lavender Gooms vs Leslie Grimes is going on now.  This match had a lot more action and was much faster paced.  3 minutes in, Lavender locked in the Lavender lock but Leslie made it to the ropes to break the hold.  Leslie battled back hitting a spectacular moonsault from the top rope which got a big pop from the fans.  The two traded reversals and nullified each other’s moves continuously.   Leslie gets a near fall after hitting Lavender with a DDT. Lavender stunned Leslie with some running leg drops.   Lavender then called for the Lavender lock but before she could apply it, Leslie dropped her with another DDT.  Leslie made the cover hooking the leg and got the 3 count.  Leslie Grimes gets the win and the fans give both ladies a nice pop.  (10 min)

Davis Hoffmeister arrives to a pop from the crowd.  Davis says he’s got a match tonight and promises Master Bull he will have his back.

Sarona Reiher is backstage and says that the triple threat match, and now Fatal Four Way for the Ladies Championship, has totally overshadowed her.  She says she’s been the #1 contender longer than Violet, Maxine or Catalina and says that ends tonight.  She says she is demanding her title tonight and if Hayley is a real champion, she will accept.

We go back to the ring for more action.  First, we hear blaring over the loudspeakers “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE” and out comes Dr. Red Fang accompanied by his manager the Ambassador.  The Ambassador states that Fang wants one more warm up match before the PPV and he issues a challenge to any wannabe looking to make a name for themselves to come out and challenge Fang in this NON-TITLE match (he makes sure everyone knows the belt is not on the line).  We wait patiently until we hear “TIMMMMMBER” and out comes the plaid wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber.  The fans pop for him.  Jack makes a brief stop at the Lumber Lounge (his fan club) and then heads to the ring.   Lumber gets on the mic and says he’s up to a warm up match as he gets the Axe in a couple of days.  The Ambassador directs Fang to attack Lumber and the two begin to brawl.   A few minutes in, the Axe comes out and attacks Jack when he was on the outside of the ring.  The Ambassador distracted the ref allowing Axe to hit Jack with a spear crashing into the ring steps.  Axe throws Jack back in and sits back.   Jack struggles to his feet and Fang picks him up delivering an airplane spin.  He drops Jack to the mat and makes the cover getting the 1-2-3.  Dr. Red Fang gets the win and the fans boo.  Nix Anderson comes out and goes after Fang and the two brawl all the way to the back.  In the ring, Axe picks up Jack and goes to deliver the Axe but Jack ducks and hits Axe with a spear.  Jack starts to “hulk up” and motions like he’s going to deliver an Axe of his own but Axe bails.  He starts to leave but Jack rushes out of the ring and the two fight all the way to the back.  (13 min)

Ladies Champion Hayley Hailstone says she was planning for a triple threat match and now all that is out the window with Catalina being inserted in the title picture.  Regardless, she will walk out with the title intact.  However, tonight, Sarona has been bitching loud enough and she says she has heard her.  Tonight, she will put the title on the line and promises Sarona will wish she waited for a little less pissed off Champion to make her challenge.

We go right into the next match.  First, Wendell Hammerschmidt comes out to booing from the crowd.  He reciprocates back to the fans.  He gets in the ring and continues his jawjacking.  The music changes and the fans explode as Davis ‘the Hoff’ Hoffmeister comes out.  He interacts with the fans and makes his way to the ring.  Wendell kicks at the ropes trying to discourage Davis from entering.  Finally, the ref pushes Wendell away so that Davis can enter.  He gets in the ring and Wendell comes right after him.  Davis hits him with a clothesline and Wendell hits a tiger suplex.  Davis pushes Wendell to the corner and Wendell complains that Davis was choking him.  Wendell with an eye poke and hits the British airways.  Wendell follows it up with a german suplex.  Davis keeps Wendell on the mat and locks him up with the Hollywood (camel) clutch.  Wendell is trapped and taps out.  Davis gets the win via submission and the fans pop huge.  Davis has his arm raised and then leaves before Wendell could retaliate.  Wendell yells at the ref but eventually leaves.  (5 min)

The PPV is only a couple of days away.  Here are the matches scheduled for the PPV.

Apollo Gyze vs Killa Pops – Lybian Death Match
Jack Lumber vs the Axe in a loser must retire match – ECW Rules
Dr. Red Fang vs Nix Anderson for the Hardcore title – LIGHTS OUT
Tables, Ladders & Chairs Fatal Four Way for the Ladies title:  Hayley vs Violet vs Maxine vs Catalina
El Chango vs Col. Flagg in a barbwire cage match
Hell in the Cell – The Banker w/Ruth Heartless vs Master Bull w/Davis Hoffmeister.  If Bull wins, he is once again Phoenix GM.
Champion vs Champion:  Texas Wildfire vs the Wicked Prophet – winner takes all also in a HITC

It is time for our main event.  First, Sarona Reiher makes her way out first to booing from the crowd.  She flips them off and continues to the ring.  The music changes and the fans pop as the Ladies Champion Hayley Hailstone makes her way out.  She makes a beeline for the ring and slides under the bottom rope.  Sarona bolts out of the ring trying to draw the start of the match out.  Finally after some taunting from Hayley, Sarona gets in the ring and the match begins.  The Ladies Champion dominated the match but Sarona kept kicking out of pin attempts which continued to frustrate the champ.  Finally, the match reached a 30 minute time limit and the match was ended on a draw finish.  Sarona, realizing she had her ass handed to her, took off.  Hayley stayed in the ring to celebrate but the celebration was cut short when Catalina Harper and ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito came out and attacked Hayley.  Violet Valkyrie then came out to even the odds.  The four brawled until Violet tried to whip Maxine to the ropes but it was reversed and Violet ended up crashing into Hayley.  There was a bit of tension between the two but it settled down pretty quick.  The show came to an end with the 4 staring at each other.

The PPV is up next.  Stay tuned.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #805 – Phoenix Heat (10/23)

Hello fans and welcome to our (delayed) episode of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  We apologize for the lateness of posting this show but things came up beyond our control.  We are just one short week away from the House of Horrors PPV taking place on 10/30 live in Phoenix, AZ.

Pyro goes off starting the show.  We begin in the office of GM Ruth Heartless.  She says that tonight, the TV title will be defended, a contract signing will take place between World Champion Texas Wildfire and US Champion the Wicked Prophet and a main event that has the 6 Man Tag team titles being defended with Wilber Townsend, Anthony Boom and Leon Teremoto defending the belts against the 5th Column.  There will be no favorites in this match and it seems that anything will go.  Ruth is then interrupted by Master Bull.  Bull says that since Ruth took over as GM, the show has become boring with no reason to get excited about the show.  Ruth gets mad and says that if the fans want to see someone get their ass handed to them, she’d be happy to put Master Bull in a match tonight against Col. Flagg.  Bull walks off.  Ruth smirks.  The camera fades out.

We head to the ring for our first match.  First, Ovaltine Jackson makes his way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  Next, they fans are on their feet and explode when TV Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine comes out.  Drew interacts with the fans as he makes his way down to the ring.  He enters and climbs the turnbuckle holding his title high.  The fans pop continues to get louder.  He finally steps off and hands the title to the ref who holds it up before calling for the bell to start the match.  This one was pretty even throughout the match which was a huge surprise to the champion.  He could not believe that Ovaltine was going toe to toe with him; much less outwrestling him at times.  The match closed in on the time limit and Oscar caught the champ with the Oscar sit out rear mat slam but then Drew hit a superkick out of nowhere.  Neither man was in any shape to attempt a pin.  The bell rang bringing this one to a draw finish.  Drew was pretty shocked but ended up shaking hands with Jackson much to the delight of the fans.  (20 min draw)

US Champion the Wicked Prophet arrives.  The fans chant “Wicket” which irks him.  He is stopped and asked what was on his mind.  “I wanted a challenge and I got a match with McGuire, who is essentially a joke. I take that match setup as a slap in the face. I will keep throwing down the unworthy, but the GM has to know that I am ready for the world. Texas Wildfire, I’ve got more powerful plagues to demolish you.”

Nix Anderson comes out carrying his ukulele.  He gets into the ring and calls out Hardcore Champion Dr. Red Fang but he is not in attendance.  Nix says he still wants to wrestle and invites anyone from the back to come out for a slobberknocker.  ‘Rowdy’ Roderick Rothchild makes his way out to boos from the fans.  Roderick gets on the mic and tells Nix he’d be happy to accept the challenge.  Roderick hands the mic to the ref and it appears we have ourselves a match.  The match was pretty even with both men hold the advantage briefly during the bout.  Things started to go Nix’s way after he nullified an airplane spin from Roderick but Roderick accidentally bumped the ref and the ref went down.  Just then, Dr. Red Fang jumped in the ring and hit Nix with the Vampire Lunge before taking off in the crowd.  Roderick picked him up and hit the Airplane spin again.  He dropped him to the mat and went for the cover.  The ref recovered in time to slap the mat 3 times and award the match to Roderick.  Rothchild had his arm raised and he smirked and sneered at Nix on the mat before leaving.  Nix eventually got to his feet and made his way to the back presumably to look for the evil vampire.  (14 min)

Backstage, the Banker says he has a match against El Chango tonight and then Master Bull at the PPV.  Both men will go down for the 3 count and he will once again be riding high in HCW.

Music begins and out comes the Banker.  The fans boo the crap out of him and he makes some obscene gestures back at them.  That got a few people laughing.  The Banker got into the ring and continued his verbal assault on the fans.  The music then changed and out comes El Chango.  The fans pop for him as he makes his way down to the ring.  He interacts with a few of them.  The Banker immediately attacks El Chango and takes the lead briefly before El Chango battled back and started to take the match to his opponent.  At the 6 minute mark, Master Bull comes out on stage and distracts the Banker.  This allows El Chango to hit him with a shooting star press.  He makes the cover and gets the 1-2-3.  El Chango gets the win but it is cut short when Col. Flagg hits the ring and attacks El Chango.  Master Bull rushes down to join in the fray but the Banker catches him with a briefcase shot to the head.  The Banker leaves.  The ref gets Col Flagg off of El Chango long enough to let him roll out of the ring.  GM Ruth Heartless comes out and yells at El Chango to get out of “her” ring.   She then demands that the next match begin immediately.

The next bout kicks off with both Col. Flagg and Master Bull in the ring.  The briefcase shot that Bull took from the Banker kept him at a disadvantage throughout the match.  Bull tried to battle back but Flagg kept the pressure on and forced Bull to remain on the defensive.  12 minutes in, Bull hits the Roman Powerslam but barely has enough to make the cover and Flagg was able to kick out at 1.  The match continued for a few more minutes and it appeared the tide was turning in Bull’s favor after he locked Flagg in a camel clutch.  The lights flickered a bit and we can make out the Banker coming in from the crowd and hitting Bull again with the briefcase.  He slid out and hopped the railing hightailing it out of there.  Bull staggered to his feet and Flagg hit him with an enzuigiri.  He makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  Flagg steals a win and gloats over the prone form of Master Bull.  Flagg leaves and Bull is helped to his feet and to the back.  (15 min)

A pre-recorded video plays from the Masked Banana.  This actually transpired before his win and subsequent loss of the Anytime/Anywhere title.

Masked Banana: Well color me a plaid banana! Jack Lumber, you can have my number. I can’t believe we just became best friends. Bananas don’t grow on trees so we have no quarrel. Bwahaha! Who did I just have a match against? Right, Bishop! I can’t believe he smashed my Nannie. That was grown and raised and brought to me by a good human being – and you stomped on her! I would like to dedicate this song to the fallen Nannie:

I will remember you, will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

Remember the good times that we had?
I let them slip away from us when things got bad
How clearly I first saw you smilin' in the sun
Want to feel your warmth upon me
I want to be the one

I will remember you, will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

I'm so tired but I can't sleep
Standin' on the edge of something much to deep
It's funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside, but we can't be heard

I will remember you, will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

So afraid to love you
But more afraid to lose
Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose
Once there was a darkness
Deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me life

I will remember you, will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

I will remember you, will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories

NANNIE! YOU HELPED ME WIN THIS MATCH!

*MB sheds one single tear

Wow, I have great fans! Let the good times roll, brother bananas. And let the good times roll, sister bananas!

Well, that was touching.  The crowd gave him a light applause.

Our next match begins with Catalina Harper making her way out to boos from the crowd.  She gets in the ring and flips them off which just riles them up even more.  Kimberly Kiccsass makes her way out calling Catalina a failure for not even being able to hold a title as insignificant as the AA belt.  Catalina invites her to the ring for a throwdown and Kimberly accepts.  Kimberly controlled the match for the first 3 minutes but in the 4th minute of the match, Catalina traps Kimberly in the Catalina crab but somehow Kimberly makes it to the ropes.  However, the damage had been done and Catalina controlled the pace until the 15th minute when she once again locked Kimberly in the Catalina Crab.  Kimberly wouldn’t tap out but she was fading fast.  After the ref raised and dropped Kimberly’s arm twice, Catalina relinquished the hold and then turned it into a pin attempt.  She got the uncontested 1-2-3.  Catalina wins in dominating fashion.  She stomps on Kimberly once and then leaves.  (15 min)

There is a brief intermission while a table is set up on the ring.  Chairs are then brought in.  GM Ruth Heartless then makes her way out.  She then announces that the contract signing will be happening tonight.  The fans pop and she tells them to shut up and sit down.  They then boo her.  She then announces first the US Champion the Wicked Prophet.  Prophet comes out to boos and chants of “Wicket”.  He threatens to hit a couple of fans but makes his way to the ring without incident.  He comes in and shakes hands with Ruth and sits down.  Next, the music changes and the fans explode when the World Champion Texas Wildfire comes out.  The noise is so loud that Ruth and WP cover their ears in annoyance.  Wildfire gets into the ring and climbs the turnbuckle holding his title high.  Ruth stands there tapping her foot impatiently on the mat.  Wildfire eventually joins them at the table and sits down.  Ruth goes over the details of the match (there must be a winner).  Prophet signs the contract first and then TW does.  The two men stand up and stare at each other across the table.  TW turns to leave and Prophet goes to attack him but TW was ready and he drops Prophet after hitting a devastating Bionic Elbow.  Texas Wildfire then picks up Prophet and hits an F-5 right through the table.  “HOLY SHIT” chants ring out from the fans.  Ruth stands there stunned.  TW takes a mic and tells Prophet “I’ll see you in the Hell in a Cell.”  The fans pop as the World Champion walks off.  Medics come from the back and help WP to his feet.  He forces them off and makes his way to the back steaming.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the 5th Column comes out to booing from the crowd.  Baron von Blood, Oswald Zimmerman and Karl Braun jawjack with the fans before entering the ring.  Next, the lights go out and 3 single lights show up on stage.  The three lights make their way towards the ring and this can only be the 6 Man Tag team champions Wilber Townsend, Leon Teremoto and Anthony Boom.  The three arrive at the ring and place their lanterns on the ring apron.  The camera man zooms in and there are faces on the lanterns…creepy faces.  The lights come up and the champions are wearing their IT-style masks.  Wilber instructed Anthony that he would not be tagged in unless there was double teaming.  Not sure why.  The match begins and the champs take the early advantage and continue to dominate.  4 minutes in, Leon locked Baron up with a bearhug and he almost tapped out but Karl made the save.  There was lots of double and triple teaming that followed.  Leon remained in the ring for an astounding 28 minutes.  In the 29th minute of the match, Leon planted Baron with a powerbomb and went for the pin but Karl made the save.  Wilber then tagged himself in sending Leon to the outside.  Baron and Karl double teamed Wilber hitting him with a Nuremburg neckbreaker and a thumb to the eye.  Half blinded, Wilber hit Karl with a lifting sideslam.  He tried to make the cover but the bell rang bringing this one to a draw finish.  Oswald Zimmerman hits the ring but he is cut off by Anthony Boom who hits him with the Static Shock.  Leon and Wilber eliminated Baron and Karl out of the ring.  The ref hands them their belts and they ended the show holding their titles high in the middle of the ring.  The fans booed them but they soaked it in.

One more show before the PPV so stay tuned.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #804 – Tacoma Thunder (10/20)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  Pyro kicks off the show and the new Anytime/Anywhere Champion Catalina Harper makes her way out.   She is accompanied by the former champion Maxine DeVito.  They enter the ring and Maxine gets on the mic.  She says that she doesn’t harbor any ill will towards Catalina as she was right to ensure the title was kept “in the family”.  Catalina says that after Maxine wins the Ladies title, she will rightfully hand the title back to Maxine allowing her to become a two title holder.  Maxine questions if they really need to wait that long but before she can throw out a challenge, the loudspeaker blares “I challenge Catalina for the title”.  The two ladies look at each other confused at who made the challenge and then we hear:

Peach, Pomegranate, Lime Margarita

Green, orange, purple margarita

Salt, rocks, frozen margarita

Hey Margarita!

The Masked Banana comes out to a pop from the crowd.  He stops by the Banana Boat (his fan club) to briefly interact with them before heading to the ring.  MB enters the ring and says that he beat Maxine to the punch and he got his challenge in first.  Maxine nods her head and turns to leave but before she does, she SOCKS the Masked Banana in the gut and drops him with the Sass Attack.  The ref cannot disqualify Maxine as the match hasn’t officially started yet.  GM Max McGillicutty comes out and says that this attack on the Masked Banana was totally uncalled for.  He says that the match will be postponed until later in the show and then Catalina will defend the title or be stripped of it.  Catalina and Maxine leave the ring and eventually the Masked Banana follows.

Pyro goes off once again and now, it seems our show is finally getting started.   First, Starbuck Steel comes out to a pretty loud pop from the crowd.  He is out here for singles action tonight.  He interacts with the fans as he makes his way to the ring.  He psyches up the crowd getting them ready for this match.  Next, Maximillian Redbeard comes out to a pop also.  He high fives the fans and makes his way down to the ring.  He stands in the ring towering over Starbuck but Starbuck doesn’t let Redbeard intimidate him with his size.  The bell rings.  Redbeard begins with a powerslam and Starbuck hits the shooting star buck.  Redbeard hits the Asgard body slam and Starbuck hits a starplex.  Maximillian hits a big boot to the face and Starbuck drops him with a hangman’s DDT.  Maximillian then hurls Starbuck out of the ring and he hits the ground hard.  He seems a bit dazed ends up getting counted out as he was unable to make it back in the ring before the 10 count.  Redbeard gets the win via CO.  He goes to check on Starbuck who seems to be ok and helps him to the back much to the delight of the fans.  (4 min)

Backstage, the Masked Banana is getting checked out but he assures everyone he is ok.   Before beginning, he sets “Nannie” down on the table behind him.  He says that his ultimate goal in life is to achieve “grapeness” (we assume he means “greatness” but who knows).  He says his career is always in the pursuit of grapeness.  He then says that he was imbued with the cosmic power of the bananas at an early age.  Through his discipline of the banana arts, he came to know of a higher power – grapes.  We wonder if the punch to the gut messed up his head somehow.  MB turns around to grab “Nannie” but he is gone.  He looks frantically and then takes off.

Well, that was interesting.  We head back to the ring for the next match of the evening.  Betsy Cummings makes her way out to booing from the crowd.  Smoke then fills the stage and out comes Violet Valkyrie like a bullet and rushes down to the ring sliding under the bottom rope.  Violet gets a nice pop from the crowd.  The match begins fairly quickly.  Violet had the advantage early on but after what seemed like an illegal switch by Betsy’s twin Felicia (who was hiding under the ring), Violet wore down pretty quick.  Violet began to make a comeback even taking Betsy/Felicia out with a jumping knee smash.  Felicia (who was in the ring at that moment) rolled out and was replaced immediately by Betsy who rolled Violet up with a handful of tights and got the 3 count.  Betsy steals a win and she leaves the ring fast and is joined by her twin and the two laugh all the way to the back.  Violet tried to complain to the ref about the illegal switching but since he didn’t see it, he can’t do anything about it.  (12 min)

Back in his office, GM Max McGillicutty is talking to Killa Pops.  Max tells Killa that he wasn’t expected to be on the show tonight but with the first two matches going quick, he asks Killa if he’s up to a match.  Pops says yes and says he’ll head to the ring right now.

The next match begins with an annoying blare over the loudspeakers “I’ve got some bad news for ya” and out comes ‘Bad News’ Marvin Barnes.  Barnes is booed and heckled as he makes his way to the ring.  He flipped off some of the fans and threatened to hit others.  He gets in the ring and continues his verbal assault against the crowd.  The fans change their tune when they hear “Killa Pops is in da hoooooooooooouse”.  Killa comes out and showboats for the fans and they eat it up.  He is halfway to the ring when Barnes jumps out of the ring and goes after him.  The two brawl briefly before taking it back into the squared circle.  Barnes got in some shots early but then Pops took over and with the fans behind him, he began to own the match.  At the 10 minute mark, Pops hits Marvin with the Pimp Drop.  He goes for the cover and gets the 1-2-3.  Killa gets the win and the fans pop huge for him.  He leaves and heads to the back.  (10 min)

We see Apollo Gyze backstage and he purposefully bumps as many people as he can.  He turns around and says “Apollo Gyze don’t apologize” and walks towards his dressing room.

The Anytime/Anywhere Champion Catalina Harper is being interviewed.

“The Masked Banana?  That is hiss-terical! Purr-sonally, I would like to see him TRY to take this belt.  (From stage right, rolls a trolley with an unknown item covered with a white cloth.)  I’ll do to him what I did to his only friend in the whole wide world…(Uncovered the unknown item to reveal a large banana-bread with googley eyes and a sign that says “Nannie”).  I’m gonna make Ba-Nanny Bread out of him!!

Come at me little banana!  These claws will slice you so fine – you’ll make a great topping for my morning cereal! Delicious!

A picture speaks a thousand words but a video is that much better.”  (Click on the link to see the mocking that Catalina does).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZALRHgKoZA  (Editor’s note:  OMG, that is hilarious)

We head back to the ring as the Masked Banana’s theme music plays.  We see one fan in the banana boat who already has a “Destined for Grapeness” sign (SMH).  The Masked Banana comes out to a nice pop from the crowd and heads into the ring.  It doesn’t take long for the Anytime/Anywhere Champion Catalina Harper comes out to some major booing from the crowd.   Catalina joins him in the ring and the Masked Banana shakes a warning finger at Catalina who stands there laughing which elicited some hatred from the local crowd Catalina hits a Cat-astrophic blow butThe Masked Banana goes to town as the fans pop.  MB hits the B.A.N.A.N.A.S. but doesn’t go for the pin.  Catalina goes for an arm stretcher but MB nullifies it.  Catalina goes to drop a knee on MB’s arm but he reverses it and locks in the  B.A.N.A.N.A.S.  and he gets Catalina to tap out.  The Masked Banana just won the Anytime/Anywhere Title.  He grabs the belt and holds it high.  He takes the belt and runs to the back briefly stopping by the Banana Boat to celebrate with his fans.  He then continues to the back.  (4 min)

The Axe is backstage and he says that tonight, he wins the World title.  He says that Texas Wildfire has held the belt for way too long and hides like a coward.  Tonight, he shows the world why he is the best and Wildfire is just a wisp of smoke.

Adam Jameson comes out first to a pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, we hear over the loudspeakers “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” and out comes Apollo to what is the loudest booing from the crowd tonight.  He soaks in the hatred and makes his way to the ring.   Once in the ring, the match begins pretty quick and Adam actually dominates the match.   The match goes on for 17 minutes with Adam wiping the mat with Apollo (which was pretty funny to watch).  Just then, Killa Pops comes out and begins to mock Apollo.  Apollo rushes out of the ring and he and Killa brawl all the way to the back.  Apollo ends up getting counted out and Adam wins the match via countout decision.  This isn’t done between Apollo and Killa by a long shot.

Backstage, MB is celebrating his win. “Finally, grapeness is achievable” he says but he is attacked from behind by Maxine DeVito.  Maxine slams him around and then locks in a guillotine choke.  The Masked Banana fades out and the ref raises his arm 3 times watching it fall three times.  Maxine just defeated the Masked Banana to once again regain the Anytime/Anywhere title.  She takes it and holds it high.  She acts like she’s going to attack the Masked Banana again but then the flannel wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber walks over and glares at Maxine.  Maxine turns and walks off as a 3 time champion.

It is time for the main event.  First, the Axe comes out to boos from the crowd.  He flips them off not carrying about any younglings in the crowd of fans.  The attitude changes and the fans pop huge as the World Champion Texas Wildfire makes his way out.  He interacts with the fans before entering the ring.  He climbs the turnbuckles as the fans pop.  He finally steps down and hands the title to the ref so that the match can begin.  For the first 10 minutes of the match, the match is pretty evenly paced.  Axe then removed one of the turnbuckle covers but TW was able to reverse it and smacks Axe’s head into the exposed brackets.  He then went for a pin but Axe kicked out at 2.  Axe continued to fight back until TW caught him with a high cross body and another 2 count.  Axe then gets a lucky shot in and drops TW with the Axe.  Before he can go for the pin, Jack Lumber comes out.   Axe gets up and stands in the ring yelling back at Lumber.  Lumber just stands there.  Axe turns around only to get hit with another high cross body.  Texas Wildfire makes the cover and with a hook of the leg, he gets the 1-2-3.  Texas Wildfire gets the win much to the delight of the crowd.  Axe rolls out and stumbles to the back.  While TW was celebrating in the ring, he is immediately blindsided by US Champion The Wicked Prophet.  Prophet stomps on TW and then hits the SMITE and follows it up with the Unrighteous Dominion and finally, the Baptism of Fire.  Prophet grabs the World title and holds it and the US title in each hand.  He then climbs the turnbuckle holding both belts up.  Eventually, he lays the world title on the prone form of Wildfire and then leaves as the show comes to an end.

We are less than 2 weeks away from the PPV and things just keep heating up.  Stay tuned.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #803 – Phoenix Heat (10/14) - Monday

Hello fans and welcome to an early edition of Phoenix Heat brought to you by Heritage Championship Wrestling.  We are airing today’s show early due to the POTUS taking over our venue however, he ended up backing out but since we are here, it’s not like we’re going to send the fans home only to come back in two days so let’s get to the action.

The show begins with a pre-recorded video from the NEW Anytime/Anywhere Champion Catalina Harper.  Catalina explains her actions saying she knew that Maxine was hurt so instead of someone else coming in to take advantage of her, she did as to keep the title ‘in the family’. She says she will hold the belt until Maxine is back to 100%.

The show begins with Niven and Tobias Snake coming out first to a pop from the crowd.  Once they got in the ring, they did a fist bump to a pop from the crowd.  Next, the lights went out and two single lit lanterns illuminated the ramp and the team of Anthony Boom and Leon Teremoto make their way out.  They are wearing their creepy masks.  They are joined by the leader Wilber Townsend.  The trio make their way to the ring.  Wilber directs his team to the ring and they enter.  Wilber had his team running like a very well oiled machine.  They held the advantage throughout the match and never let it go.  Finally, Leon splashes Tobias in the corner and then grabs a handful of hair and throws him to the mat.  He makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  Boom and Teremoto get the win and Wilber joins them in the ring.  He raises their arms as the fans boo.  The trio then leave followed shortly thereafter by the Snake Pit.  (16 min)

Back in her office, GM Ruth Heartless hands up the phone.  She had been on a call with Tacoma GM Max McGillicutty.  She says that they collaborated and decided that the Ladies title match at the PPV will be a triple threat match between Champion Hayley Hailstone, Violet Valkyrie and ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs rules match.  She adds that the new Anytime/Anywhere Champion Catalina Harper will be allowed in Maxine’s corner.  The fans do not seem all that thrilled about that announcement.  She smirks as the fans continue to boo.

We head back to the ring for our next match which will be for the TV title.  First, Jesse California comes out and he is still nursing a sore back from being thrown off the stage by Catalina Harper. He makes his way to the ring to boos from the crowd.  He gets in and taunts the fans until the music changed and out comes the TV Champion Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  The fans explode as the CLM makes his way out and stands on the stage holding the title high.  He walks to the ring shaking hands with the fans.  He gets in and climbs the turnbuckle and the fans pop even louder.   Jesse attacks him before the bell but it didn’t help him much in the beginning.  After the 8th minute of the match, Jesse slammed Drew from the top rope and things started to go the way of the challenger. Jesse hit some solid moves but instead of trying for a pin, he kept the pressure on.  At the 11 minute mark, Jesse hits a standing dropkick but somehow Drew hits a Corkscrew Pescado out of nowhere.  He makes the cover hooking the leg getting the 3 count.  Drew gets the win and the fans pop huge for him.  Drew gets on the mic and says that Jesse was a tough competitor but he wasn’t as ready as he had hoped.  He says he is going to wrestle more so that he can give 100% for the fans.  They pop huge for him and he leaves the ring.  He turns once on the stage, holds the title high and then goes behind the curtain.  (11 min)

El Chango is backstage talking with people when he is blindsided by Col. Flagg.  Flagg attacks him throwing him around and into walls.  He opens a closet and pulls out a spool of…barb wire.  He then proceeds to wrap El Chango up in it (OUCH).  El Chango begins to bleed where the barbs have pierced the skin.   Flagg drops El Chango to the floor and says that at the PPV, their match will take place within the confines of a barb wire cage.  He smirks and leaves.  Medics check El Chango out.  He is mostly ok except for a few holes.

Next up, we have some ladies action taking place.  First, Lady Hermann makes her way out to boos from the crowd.  Next, Lavender Gooms comes out to a small pop from the crowd.  The match begins with Lavender taking control of the match much to the fans’ delight.  8 minutes in, Lady Hermann pulled Lavender into the corner and wrapped her knee against the steel post.  Her Ladyship rolls back in and pulls Lavender back to the center of the ring.  She then locks in the Figure 8 leg lock.  Lavender has no choice and taps out.  Lady Hermann gets the win.  She holds her arms high and the fans boo.  She flips them off and leaves with her head held high.  (9 min)

Backstage, former tag team champs Maximillian Redbeard and Superquake Ferguson are being interviewed.  Redbeard states that they are being given a non-title match against the champs tonight in an effort to try to get another shot at the belts.  Ferguson says it takes one solid punch from “these hands” and the belts come back to them.  They are ready and hope the Steel Curtain are also.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, Tommy Lightning comes out to massive boos from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes ‘Rowdy’ Roderick Rothchild.  Roderick gets a small pop from the crowd as he makes his way out.  Once he got in the ring, Tommy began pointing and poking Rothchild in the chest.  That was all Roderick needed to open can of whoop ass on Tommy.  Much to his credit, Tommy held his own and ended up taking Roderick all the way to the time limit.  Roderick hits an airplane spin in the final seconds of the match but when he went for the pin, the time limit ran out.  This one ends in a draw finish.  Tommy gets up and taunts Roderick again for not being able to finish the deed.  A kick to the gut and a Rothchild Stunner later and Tommy is on his back counting the lights.  Roderick leaves to a pop from the crowd.  Refs attempt to help Tommy but he shrugs them off heading to the back on his own.  (20 min draw)

The Steel Curtain are backstage.  They say that winning the tag belts from Redbeard and Ferguson was the latest achievement of their careers.  Even though they gave the former champs a rematch which they won, Buzz says that they were an interesting challenge and think that they are worthy of another shot.  Starbuck chimes in and says that this though is the final shot.  If Redbeard and Ferguson can’t score a win, it will be time for them to move on.  Buzz leans over and says “Word”.

Walking in from outside is the US Champion Wicked Prophet.  He walks into the building and the fans chant “Wicket” which just makes him sneer.  He heads to his dressing room to get ready for his match tonight.

Our tag team match is up next.  First, Maximillian Redbeard and Superquake Ferguson come out to a pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring and giving them time to interact with the fans, the Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain come out.  The fans blow the roof off as Buzz and Starbuck Steel make their way out.  They interact with the fans as they head to the ring.  They climb the turnbuckles and the fans pop even louder.  The match begins and for the first 13 minutes of the match, the champs dominated.  After Buzz almost gets squished by a splash from Ferguson, the giant goes for the pin but Buzz manages to kick out at 2. Both men make the tag and Redbeard dominates Starbuck getting some near falls before tagging his partner back in.  Superquake stuns Starbuck with a giant headbutt but Starbuck hits an Out of this world dropkick and follows it up with a hangman’s DDT.  Starbuck goes for the pin and gets the 3 count.  The Steel Curtain get the win.  All 4 men end up shaking hands.  Starbuck and Buzz celebrated with the fans before leaving. (20 min)

Backstage, the US Champion the Wicked Prophet.  He makes it well known that he better have a quality opponent tonight and if not, there will be hell to pay.

It’s time for the main event.  First, the Muscles Trio come out wearing their rainbow colored bull horns and carrying their boxes of Booty O’s cereal.  They shake hands with McGuire who heads down to the ring for his title match.  He gets in the ring and goofs around.  Things get serious when the music changes and out comes the US Champion the Wicked Prophet.  Prophet is booed as he heads to the ring except for a small group of followers who try to cheer louder to drown out the boos but the number of fans who dislike him overwhelm the smaller numbers.  Prophet gets in the ring and holds his title high as the booing continues.  He hands it over and goes right on the offensive.

The Wicked Prophet gets the win much to the chagrin of the fans.  He takes a mic and blasts GM Ruth Heartless for giving him such a weak opponent.  Prophet says he is ready for Texas Wildfire and ready to become the World Champion.  He holds the title high as the fans boo and this brings tonight’s show to an end.

Stay tuned.  Much more to follow.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #802 – Tacoma Thunder (10/13)

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  We will have two shows back to back (ours and Phoenix Heat) due to the Phoenix venue being sequestered for a POTUS event.

The show kicks off with a vignette from everyone’s favorite masked fruit, the Masked Banana:

“Woowee!  The Masked Banana is live and ready for action.  Too bad I couldn’t get the banantaman theme song. Margs will do! Banana Margaritas to the Banana Boat (my fan club)!

Too bad Axe got distracted, I may have ended up as a bruised banana! I totally understand the distraction though – Jack Lumber is RIPE! Happy for the W.

Watch out for me next week when I use an actual banana in the ring!”

The fans got a good chuckle out of it and the pyro goes off kicking off tonight’s show.  First, Bishop Ripley makes his way out to the ring to booing from the crowd.  He mostly ignores them.  The fans are soon on their feet when they hear the fun music:

Peach, Pomegranate, Lime Margarita
Green, orange, purple margarita
Salt, rocks, frozen margarita
Hey Margarita!

The Masked Banana comes out and passes by the area cornered off for his fan club the Banana Boat and he stops briefly to interact with them.  The fans continue to yell “Hey Margarita” when it plays in the music.  The Masked Banana is handed by a fan an actual banana and he takes it with him to the ring.  He goes over to the announce desk and grabs a sharpie and draws a face on it.   He then takes a piece of paper and writes what we assume to be its name – “Nannie” (I think we have a marketing boom on our hands).  He places it on the outside edge of the ring and gets in.  Bishop, tired of waiting, attacks him.  Bishop controls the first 3 minutes of the match but then the Masked Banana began to take over. At the 8 minute mark in the match, Bishop hits MB with the Alien Resurrection but doesn’t go for the pin.  Instead, he walks over to the corner and then STOMPS on Nannie squishing it.  MB suddenly screams “NO, NANNIE”.  Bishop begins to walk back to the center of the ring but then slips due to the smashed banana under his boot and he hits the mat smacking his head on the ring.  An enraged Masked Banana then hits the Banana hammock and goes for the pin getting the 3 count.  The fans cheer but are a little somber due to MB’s mascot being squished.  The music plays and MB gathers the remains of his little friend and makes his way to the back.  He walks by the Banana Boat and a fan hands him a new “Nannie”.  Suddenly, he’s all happy again and joins his fan club sitting with them.  (9 min)

We head to the office of GM Max McGillicutty and he is with the Ladies Champion Hayley Hailstone and Violet Valkyrie.  They are voicing their displeasure about how their match ended and the interference from ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito and Catalina Harper.  Max says he was already on it setting up tonight’s main event with Hayley and Violet teaming to take on Maxine and Catalina.  Violet says she wants a rematch against Hayley at the PPV.  Max says that if the team of Hayley and Violet win tonight, they will have a 1on 1 rematch however if Maxine or Catalina get the win, the match will become a triple threat match.  They agree to the stipulation and Hayley cuts Violet off in leaving the room.  This may be an uneasy alliance between the two.

The next match is to determine who gets the next World title shot.  Mountain Man Junior Huber comes out first to a small pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changed and out comes the Axe.  Axe is the ring and goes right after Junior who picks him up and bodypresses him out of the ring.  Axe is back in by the count of 9 and levels Junior with the Axe.  He only gets a one count.  The match continued with Axe staying in control for most of the match.  14 minutes in, Axe hits Junior with a backbreaker and goes for the pin but picks him up at the last moment which elicited boos from the crowd.  He then winds up and hits a power punch.  Junior drops to the mat.  Axe goes for the cover and gets the 3 count.  Axe gets the win and retains his spot.  Axe motions that he will be the next World Champion.  He leaves as the fans boo.  (15 min)

Back in GM Max McGillicutty’s office, Sarona Reiher is complaining she should be getting a title shot.  Tempest Fortune walks by and makes the same claim.  Max tells them they are in a match up next with one lady moving up the rankings.  Sarona storms out and Tempest follows.

The next match begins with Sarona Reiher storming her way out and walking to the ring as the fans boo her.  She lets them know, in no uncertain terms, she doesn’t care for them either.   Next, Tempest Fortune comes out to a big pop from the crowd.  She makes her way out and down to the ring.  The match begins fairly quickly and Tempest is in control for the first half of the match but then Sarona used her strength to battle back.  It looked like Sarona was going to take over the match but Tempest managed to lock in a standing armbar which she used to turn into a quick pin much to the surprise of her challenger.  Sarona went for a cheap shot but Tempest got out of the ring in time.  Tempest gets the win and continues to move up the rankings. (13 min)

Backstage, Nix Anderson is minding his own business when Shawn ‘Abs of stone’ Austin walks over and starts to mock him.  Nix suggests that if Austin is feeling ‘froggy’, they can take this to the ring.  Austin agrees and says that he wants Nix’s spot at the Hardcore title.  Nix tells him he can try and take it but won’t succeed.

As we return to ringside, the Russian National Anthem blares and out comes Ivan Dragovich.  The fans boo him but he doesn’t care.  He gets in the ring and continues to taunt the fans.  Next,  Jack Lumber comes out to a big pop from the crowd.  He stops by the ‘Lumber Lounge’ to quickly chat with his fans.  He turns to across the aisle and sees the Masked Banana still sitting with his fans in the Banana Boat.  He nods and Banana nods back.  Jack continues his way to the ring but Ivan attacks him upon entering.  Ivan got in the one good shot but then Jack took over but was only a step or two ahead of Ivan the entire time.   Before we knew it, the time limit was almost upon us.  Ivan dropped Jack with a spinning heel kick but there was no time to do anything after that as the bell rang.  Ivan, frustrated, wanted to keep going but Jack sent him hurtling out of the ring.  Just then, the Axe appeared with a trashcan full of miscellaneous weapons.  He grabbed a hockey stick and broke it over Jack’s back.  Lumber stumbled around the ring but grabbed a kendo stock from the can and used it on the Axe.  The two beat each other senseless until ‘shirts’ from the back came out to break things up.  GM Max McGillicutty came out and said that these two will meet at the PPV and one of them will have to go.  Max says ECW rules will be in place with no time limit.  The one who loses will be out of HCW for good.  Eventually the Axe and Jack made their way to the back.  (20 min draw; 5 for the aftermath)

Backstage, Catalina Harper is with the Anytime/Anywhere Champion and she tells Maxine that she will have her back this match.  She tells Maxine that Hayley and Violet will do everything in their power to ensure Maxine loses.  Catalina reminds Maxine to keep her enemies close so she can keep an eye out on them.  Maxine agrees.

Next up, Nix Anderson makes his way out first strumming his ukulele.  The fans give him a small pop.  Next, Shawn ‘Abs of Stone’ Austin comes out and is almost booed out of the building (it was so loud).  Austin ignores them and makes his way to the ring.  The match begins fairly quickly and each man controlled parts of the match.  About 13 minutes in, Austin distracted the ref and then Dr. Red Fang slid into the ring and nailed Nix with a Vampire Lunge.  He then took off.  Austin took the next couple of minutes to beat down Nix and ended up pinning him after some power forearm shots.  Austin steals a win with help from the Hardcore Champion.  He gloated over Nix in the ring but then Fang was back in and blasted Austin with a Vampire Lunge followed by a Transylvania piledriver.  The ref saw the interference in the recap but said that he would leave the win with Shawn but Austin would NOT be getting Nix’s title shot.  Nix recovered and chased Dr. Red Fang to the back.  (17 min)

Backstage, Ladies Champion Hayley Hailstone and her partner tonight Violet Valkyrie are talking.  Hayley tells Violet to let her take lead.  Violet counters saying it should be her as the captain of her team.  Hayley tells her this isn’t a soccer game and just because she’s a sold foot or more taller doesn’t qualifier her to be the leader of their team.  A little pushing and shoving between the two teammates is broken up and they go their separate ways as they head to the ring.

It is time for the main event.  First, Catalina Harper comes out to boos from the crowd.  She is joined by the Anytime/Anywhere champion Maxine DeVito.  Before they can head to the ring, Jesse California comes out and tries to sneak attack Maxine but Catalina stops him, grabs him by the collar and pants and HURLS him off the stage.  HOLY SH*T chants ring out.  Catalina and Maxine make their way to the ring.  Once in the ring, the music changes and pyro and smoke fill the stage as Violet Valkyrie comes out running all the way down to the ring.  She stops shy of entering as it looked like her opponents were going to try something.  The music changes again and the fans pop as the Ladies Champion Hayley Hailstone comes out.  She interacts with a few fans and makes her way to the ring.  She and Violet then enter together.  The match begins.
