Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling newsletter. A snip from earlier in the day is what kicks off today’s show.
A
video recap is shown of Dash Woodbrick watching the scene of Dennis Marshall at
the Red Robin and he’s stewing about it.
“Well, if he can do it, so can I” Dash says and walks off.
We
then cut back to that same Red Robin that Dennis ate at. Dash storms in and begins to boss people
around. “You know who I am? I and THE Dash Woodbrick. I demand you bring me a big mac.” The manager ends up coming around. “Sir, I think you are in the wrong
establishment if you are looking for that specialty sandwich.” “Doesn’t matter. I want that burger and you will bring it to
me” Dash exclaimed. “Sir” the manager
said politely, I am going to have to ask you to leave.” Dash starts to get loud and then grabs a
glass of water from a passing by server and throws it into the face of the
manager before storming out. (Editor’s note:
This all transpired before tonight’s show. Dennis Marshall had actually witnessed the
event. He went in and offered to pay for
any damages Dash did and he ended up getting another meal comped. DON”T TELL DASH!)
We
come back to the arena and pyro goes off kicking off tonight’s event. Our show starts off with Butch Huber
fighting the Anytime/Anywhere Champion Master Bull. The ref is standing in the ring and won’t
officially start the match until both men are in the ring. Butch hurls Master Bull into the steel steps
and then rolls him in the ring. He tells
the ref to start the match and immediately goes for the pin but Bull kicks out.
Huber controlled the pace of the match but with each time a pin was attempted,
Bull kept kicking out. The match moved
at a quick pace and before we knew it, the bell rang signaling a time limit
draw. Huber complained that he had the
match won but the stipulation of 20 minutes for the AA title vs all others at
30 minutes was unfair. This brought out
GM Max McGillicutty. Max said that the
time limit is set on this title to 20 minutes for a reason…one he doesn’t have
to explain to Butch. He amends and says
that as Butch very well could have won if the time limit was longer, he will
get a rematch but not tonight. Butch
seemed a bit put off but eventually accepted.
He walked away. An exhausted
Master Bull seemed a bit relieved. (20
min draw)
Backstage,
Derek Deveraux calls out Albert Perez.
Derek says Albert is a sore loser and if he wants to continue to attack
him like a coward, he’s ready to take this to the next level.
We
head back to the ring for our next match.
First, Catalina Harper comes out to a nice pop from the crowd. She shakes hands with the fans as she makes
her way around the ring before climbing in.
She works on psyching up the crowd but her music is cut off and out
comes her opponent Penny Hall. Penny is
booed heavily and she flips the fans off.
She gets in to the ring and goes nose to nose with Catalina. Penny shoves Catalina twice barely moving
her. Catalina shoves Penny and she falls
on her butt on the ground. The fans
pop. Penny is steaming and attacks
Catalina starting this match off. Penny
may have gotten in a cheap shot to start the match but after that, it was all
Catalina. Catalina DOMINATED her
opponent…and bad. Once we got 15 minutes
into the match, it was clear that Catalina was only toying with her…as a cat
would with its toy. Two minutes later,
Catalina hits Penny with the CAT-astrophic blow and she went for the pin
getting the 1-2-3. Catalina gets the win
and the fans pop HUGE for her. Catalina is interviewed in the ring and is
asked about the drama between Ladies Champion Violet Valkyrie and her former
BFF Korbi Kong. Catalina says she’s not
getting in the middle of that but is here to serve notice that she’s ready to
go back after the Ladies Title. She says
it doesn’t matter who holds the belt; she will be champion once again. (17 min)
Backstage,
the Ambassador says that Texas Wildfire continues to stick his nose where it
doesn’t belong. Tonight, Barry
Morningstar will teach Wildfire a lesson.
Even though the title is not on the line tonight, he will soften him up
and then come for the Hardcore title.
We
hear backstage commotion and we see Master Bull smacking Butch Huber (and the
rest of the Huber Clan) around with a chair.
It seems that the Clan tried to attack Bull backstage but he wasn’t
having any of it. After knocking out
Junior and Ferb, Bull turned the chair shots to Butch knocking him out. He picked him up and nailed a Roman powerslam
on the chair. Just then, a ref walked by. Bull called him over. He made the cover and the ref slapped the
concrete 1-2-3. Master Bull just
defended his title and is walking away with his title intact.
We’re
ready for our next match. First,
Devastation Inc member Barry Morningstar and his manager the Ambassador come
out to massive boos from the crowd.
Barry threatens to hit a couple of fans but the Ambassador pulls him
away. The duo enter the ring and the
booing intensifies. The music changed
and the fans went from booing to deafening cheering just like that. Hardcore Champion Texas Wildfire comes out
and the fans are on their feet. TW makes
his way down to the ring and shakes hands with the fans along the way. TW enters the ring glaring at Barry and the
Ambassador. TW asks for a mic. He says that if Barry beats him clean with no
outside interference from the Ambassador or the rest of Devastation Inc, he
will give Barry or any member of the Ambassador’s entourage a title shot…even
that evil, diabolical Dr. Red Fang.
Barry snatches the mic out of TW’s hand and hands it to his manager. “Even if we wanted that piece of tin, which
we don’t, we are only here to teach you a lesson. Devastation Inc. holds the 6 Man Tag Team
Titles. We are the greatest team in
HCW. But I will make you an offer. Barry wins (TW inserts “CLEAN”), he will take
a title shot but if somehow you win, you can two losers can have a shot at our
titles.” TW looks on wondering what the
catch is. “No catch but good luck in
getting a win. HAR HAR.” The Ambassador leaves the ring and the match
begins. The Ambassador got started
early giving the advantage to Barry.
They held that advantage but couldn’t capitalize on it. TW went for the pin twice but Barry managed
to kick out. Barry hurled TW out of the
ring and he almost got counted out after jaw jacking with the Ambassador. At the 9 minute mark, TW hit the Hangman’s
clothesline and went for the pin. The
Ambassador wasn’t paying attention as he was yelling at a fan. He turned around just as the ref’s hand hit
the mat for the third time. Texas
Wildfire gets the win and, if able to find two tag team partners, he will get a
shot at the 6 Man titles. Barry yelled
at TW long enough to distract him when Azrael and Dr. Red Fang came out and
attacked TW. A bunch of refs ran down to
break up the action. The Ambassador and
Devastation Inc laughed as they made their way to the back. Texas Wildfire got helped to the back. (9 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)
We
are backstage with World Champion Jack Lumber who is on hand to defend his
title tonight. As he’s being
interviewed, his opponent for the evening Madman Mason interrupts. He looks at Jack before chuckling under his
breath. “This is going to be easy” he
mutters and walks away. Jack watches
after him “Not as easy as you might think.”
After
a brief hiatus, music hit and the fans popped huge as the Steel Curtain – Buzz
and Starbuck Steel – made their way down to the ring. Starbuck said that Dash Woodbrick cost him,
his brother and Biceps the 6 man titles.
At some point, they will go back for them but for now, they want to deal
with DD Double D Duo. Buzz calls DDDDD
(or Dx5) (damn, that’s a lot of D’s) out.
The Champs music hits and Dennis is motioning for Dash to join him. Dash is reluctant to go to the ring but
Dennis wins out. The champs head to the
ring. Dennis motions for Dash to join
him. Dennis tries to apologize for what
Dash has done but Buzz says the only way to make up for it is with a title
match at the PPV. Dash says No, Dennis
counters with Ye. “No” Dash says and
Dennis looks at him and says “You mean yes” and they go back and forth until
Dennis wins (Dennis said “The opposite of no is…” and Dash responded with “yes”
followed by D’OH for getting caught by that).
Buzz says they are cashing in at the PPV. Dash says that the Steel Curtain are not
honest and they’re going to attack them every chance they get. Starbuck says THEY will not be the first to
raise a fist. Dennis extends his hand
and shakes hands with Buzz and Starbuck.
Dash snorts in derision and walks away.
Dennis reluctantly follows. The
Curtain leave right after.
Another
really quick break and we’re back to the action. First, the team of Superstar Chic Monroe and
Pecs Stoddard come out to a nice pop from the crowd. They enter the ring and then await their
opponents. Next, music hits and the fans
boo as the 5th Column – Baron von Blood and Oswald Zimmerman come
out. They flip off the fans and make
their way to the ring. They enter
through the ropes and immediately attack Chic and Pecs. The
Column did all they could to lie, cheat and steal but it did no good. Pecs and Chic dominated the match but try as
they might, they couldn’t put the Column down for a 3 count. This one ended up going the distance and
ending in a time limit draw. That though
didn’t stop the fighting. The four men
continued to brawl and took it to the back.
(30 min draw)
We
head backstage with Larry Morton and he tells us that we will have a sit down
interview next week with ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito and Korbi Kong to explain their
actions. We look forward to that
interview.
It’s
time for our main event. First, the
music becomes somber and the lights dim a bit.
Madman Mason comes out to boos from the crowd. He makes his way to the ring and enters
stepping over the top rope to do so. He leans
over the top rope glaring out at the crowd.
He steps back and waits. The
music changes and we hear “Choppin Wood and Lookin Good” and out comes
everyone’s favorite flannel wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber. Lumber stands on the stage as pyro goes off
around him. He removes the World title
from around his waist and holds it over his head eliciting an even louder pop
from the crowd. He slings it over his
shoulder and makes his way down to the ring.
He keeps a wary eye out on Mason but climbs in and then climbs the
turnbuckles holding the title high. He
steps down and hands the title to the ref who holds it high. The match is ready to begin.
