HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #868 - (11/11)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Things don’t take long to kick off when Jack Lumber makes his way onto the stage.  The fans pop and Jack soaks it in.  He then lets the fans know that he is cashing in his contract at the Supershow this Saturday.  The fans pop again but then change their tune when ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito comes out.  She snatches the mic out of Jack’s hand.  She tells Jack that there were some underhanded shenanigans going on and she’s going to dig into the FRAUD perpetuated by someone acting on his behalf.  Maxine says that Jack may hold a contract but one man is due for a title shot before him.  If Jack wants a shot at the World title on Saturday, tonight, he has to take on ‘Bad News’ Marvin Barnes.  Maxine says that Jack will have an uphill battle and says that as he ‘stole’ the title match, he will NOT win tonight.  She walks off laughing.   Jack smirks and then leaves also.

The show kicks off with some pyro and out comes the Anytime/Anywhere Champion Maximillian Redbeard.  He gets into the ring and says that he did what anyone in the back would have done – even that lowlife Apollo Gyze – capitalize on a situation.  He got lucky and defeated Apollo to win the AA title.  He says he feels a little bad and wants to offer Apollo a shot at regaining that title tonight.  “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” blares over the loudspeakers and out comes Apollo.  He is booed heavily as he makes his way to the ring.  He says that Redbeard stole his title and tonight, he’s taking it back.  The bell rings.  Apollo took the match hard to Redbeard but then someone in all black hit Apollo with a chair knocking him out and causing the disqualification.  Apollo wins the match but not the title.  (4 min)  The man in black then destroys Redbeard with the chair softening him up.  He has a ref of his own and calls for the bell.  Those chair shots really softened Redbeard up.  The man in black dominated the champ for 5 whopping minutes before Redbeard got one shot in.  10 punches, a superkick and a clothesline later and Redbeard was down.  The man removes the mask and it’s…Scooter J.  SJ makes the pin and gets the 3 count.  Scooter J just became the NEW ANYTIME/ANYWHERE CHAMPION.   He takes the title and holds it high laughing and pointing to his head (he outsmarted everyone).   He takes the title and leaves.  (11 min)

‘Bad News’ Marvin Barnes is backstage.  “Lumber slumber, I’ve got some bad news for ya…you are trying to take my spot?  You can’t hold a candle to me and tonight, you’ll wish you never set foot in the ring with me.”  He walks off.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, TNT comes out and he’s booed as he makes his way to the ring.  He gets in and continues to incite the crowd.  Next, “Hey Margarita” plays and out comes the Masked Banana to a HUGE pop from the crowd.  He stops by the Banana Boat to visit his fans before heading to the ring.  TNT attacks him right off the bat.  His advantage doesn’t last long.  For 10 minutes, the match was practically even but then spirited on by his fans, MB began to destroy TNT. Although it took an additional 8 minutes, MB outwrestled his opponent.  TNT tried to bounce off the ropes only to slip and slide on a banana peel before hitting the Banana Cream Pie.  MB makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  The fans pop as MB has his hand raised.  TNT goes to the corner and removes the turnbuckle cover.  He then attacks MB from behind and smashes MB’s head into the turnbuckle.  Blood starts to show through his mask.  TNT scoffs and then leaves.  The Masked Banana is helped to the back to a nice applause from the fans.  (18 min)

Apollo Gyze is sitting in the back with his chin resting on his fist. “Nobody knows…the troubles I’ve seen.  Nobody knows…my sorrow.”  He looks up as the Wicked Prophet walks past.  Prophet stops and turns to him and says “Good God, man up!”  He then walks away.  Apollo stand up.  “Yeah, I’ll do that” and walks off.

J9 makes her way out to booing from the crowd.  She gets in the ring and calls out Goldie Locks.  Goldie rushes down to the ring but J9 bails.  She tells Goldie that she is the weak link and will never amount to anything.  Goldie suggests they have a match. J9 says she will determine the when and where and walks off as the crowd boos her.  Goldie interacts with the fans before leaving.

Our next match begins with Ghee Buttersnaps and Ovaltine Jackson making their way out.  The fans give them a nice pop.  Next, the Freedom Fighters – Justice and Flash – make their way out and the fans boo the crap out of them.  They mostly ignore the fans and get in the ring.  They take out their frustrations on their challengers.  It doesn’t last long as Ghee and Ovaltine flex their muscles and take the match to the Fighters.  During the match, Flash gets knocked from the apron and is injured leaving Justice to fend for himself.  At the 18 minute mark, Ghee smashes Justice in the corner and then rolls him up getting the 1-2-3.  Ghee and Ovaltine get the win.  The fans pop as they have their arms raised in victory.  They leave.  Eventually, the Fighters regroup and leave on their own.  (18 min)

We cut backstage where we see J9 having attacked Goldie Locks.  J9 then drags Goldie to the ring by her hair.  She rolls her into the ring and yells at the timekeeper to ring the bell.  Goldie begins to battle back and much to J9’s surprise, she began taking the match to her.  Not wanting to deal with that, she exited the ring and grabbed a steel chair and hit Goldie with it resulting in a disqualification.  J9 hits her a second time with the chair before the ref wrestled it away from her.  She stomped on her one final time for good measure and left the ring.  Goldie recovered and left under her own power.  (7 ½ minutes)

Backstage, Jack Lumber addresses Marvin Barnes:  “You say you have some bad news for me?  Guess what?  I’m not subscribing to your ‘fake news’.  With the power of my Lumbermaniacs in my corner, tonight, I prove to you, Maxine and the world why I’m the only #1 contender for the World title.  I’ll see you in the ring.”

We head back to the ring for our next match.  “TIMMMMMMMMMMBER” blares from the loudspeakers and out comes the flannel wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber.  The fans pop huge for him.  As he makes his way to the ring, he sees the area where his Lumbermaniacs would be sitting is restricted by caution tape.  Jack is a little perplexed.  He gets in the ring and the fans continue to pop for him.  His music is abruptly cut off as Sassy Maxine DeVito comes out.  The fans boo her.  She says that she is only here to ensure the right person wins.  She removes her jacket revealing a ref’s outfit.  Maxine is looking to stack the deck against Jack to ensure he loses.  Maxine tells Jack that if he loses, he is OUT of the World title hunt.  “I’VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS FOR YA” screams throughout the arena and ‘Bad News’ Marvin Barnes makes his way out.  The fans boo him and he flips them off.  He gets into the ring and Maxine whispers something to him.  He laughs.  Just before she can call for the bell, new music plays and out comes Max McGillicutty.  Max makes his way to the ring quickly and says that he is managing Jack for this match tonight.  Maxine looks put off but starts the match.  Maxine, as expected, made very slow counts when Jack went for a pin and very fast counts for Marvin.  For 15 minutes, the match was practically even with Max and Maxine effectively cancelling the other out.  Barnes went for the Star Effect sitout side slam but Jack managed to wriggle out of it and planted Marvin with a Yukon bodyslam.  He made the cover and Max got in the ring and stood over Maxine to ensure she did a proper count.  It was slow but she counted 1…2…3.  Jack Lumber gets the win and is officially the #1 contender for the World Title.  Jack celebrates as Maxine takes off in a huff.  Jack shakes hands with Max and Max leaves letting Jack celebrate with the fans until he departed.  (16 min)

Catalina Harper is backstage and she says that the world is out to screw her out of her title.  “This title is my life.  It allows me to feed my litter of cats.  No one is taking this title from me.  Guaranteed.”   She walks off.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the challenger Lavender Gooms comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  She gets into the ring but the Ladies Champion’s music hits and out comes Catalina Harper.  She is wearing her title over her shoulder.  She saunters down to the ring amid the booing from the fans.  She gets in the ring and grabs a mic.  She reminds us that between her two title runs, she’s held the title for the majority of 2020.  The fans boo.  She sneers at them and tells the ref to start the match.  As expected, Catalina dominated the match and probably had it go longer than it should but after playing around with her opponent, she finally went for the pin after hitting a jaw jacker.  She got the uncontested 1-2-3.  Catalina wins the match and retains her title.  The show comes to an end with Catalina standing tall in the ring holding the title high.

Thanks for reading.  Our special show – Saturday Night Showdown – is up next.  Stay Tuned.
