HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2024 #1013 – 6/21/2024

Hello wrestling fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Today, we are on the road about 90 miles north visiting Charlotte, NC.  We have back to back shows, one here and one tomorrow back down in Columbia to give members of the roster more time to showcase their skills.

Based on their past interactions, the match pitting the Dynamic Duo vs the 5th Column has been added to the Meltdown PPV on July 4th.

As pyro goes off kicking off tonight’s festivities, we immediately go backstage for a promo from the Wicked Prophet.

"Listen up, you pitiful mortals! The Wicked Prophet has descended from the cosmic abyss to grace you with my malevolent presence. Former HCW World Champion? Oh, that’s just a footnote in my dark saga. I held that title like a serpent grips its prey—tight, unyielding, and venomous.

Jack Lumber, you lumbering oaf! You think you earned your spot in the Fatal Four Way? Ha! The gods themselves must’ve been drunk on mead to allow your axe-swinging, tree-hugging carcass into that match. But fear not, Jack, for I’ll chop you down like a rotten oak. Your fate is sealed, and the prophecy foretells your demise. The Wicked Prophet doesn’t play favorites; I play for keeps.

And then there’s Mr. X, the enigma wrapped in a riddle, shrouded in mystery. What’s your game, Mr. X? Are you a shadowy assassin, a cosmic traveler, or just a delusional fool? It matters not. When our paths intersect, I’ll reveal your secrets to the world. Your mask won’t protect you from my revelations. Prepare for enlightenment, Mr. X, for the Wicked Prophet sees all.

Ah, the Banker, our illustrious World Champion. You sit atop your throne, counting your ill-gotten gains, oblivious to the cosmic balance shifting. Your vaults overflow with gold, but your soul? Empty as a black hole. You’re a parasite, Banker, feeding off the masses. But I’ll bankrupt you, not in dollars, but in spirit. When the Wicked Prophet claims his rightful place, your reign will crumble like a house of cards.

So, heed my words, HCW universe: The Wicked Prophet is no mere mortal. I am the harbinger of doom, the cosmic reckoning. When the bell tolls, the heavens weep, and the stars align, know this: your fate rests in my hands. Bow before the darkness, for the prophecy unfolds, and the endgame begins."

Match #1:  ‘The Wildman’ Jax Brenner w/ Molly Mason vs Azrael w/the Ambassador in a non-title match.

Azrael and the Ambassador come out first and were booed heavily.  Azrael flips off the fans and threatens to hit a couple on his way to the ring.  He gets in the ring and continues to taunt the fans until the music changed and out comes the Hardcore Champion Jax Brenner for this non-title match.  Jax flew to the ring which was amazing to see from a man his size.  He got right in the ring and the match began.  Azrael had the upper hand early on but Jax took over and then it was all him.  We join the match at the 12 minute mark.

'The Alaskan Wildman' Jax Brenner wins with a SASQUATCH STOMP over Azrael!!!

Jax Brenner gets the win and the fans pop but it’s short lived as ‘Perfect Pecs’ Stoddard came out and attacked Jax.  The two brawled until security broke it up.  These two are meeting tomorrow with the title on the line.  Pecs may have thought he was taking a cheap shot at the champ but all he did was enrage the giant.  Eventually, everyone made their way backstage.

Backstage, Kroman the Barbarian attacks the Commando.  It appears that Col. Flagg put out a hit on Zack Brown before their Meltdown PPV trying to take him out.  Security came and broke it up.

Match #2:  Wilber Townsend & TNT defend their top 10 spot against JR Fargo and Alejandro Guerrero.

JR Fargo and Alejandro Guerrero came out first to a loud pop from the crowd.  The shook hands with the fans as their made their way to the ring.  Shortly thereafter, US Champion Wilber Townsend and his nephew TNT came out and the fans booed.  Wilber smiled an evil smile as they made their way to the ring.  Once in the ring, the ref notified everyone that Wilber & TNT’s placement (in the top 10) was on the line in this special challenge match. If JR and Lee get the win, they move up in the rankings.

This one was weird as the lights kept flickering during the match which was very distracting for everyone.  Finally, whatever it was stopped by the 8th minute of the match so that is where we join.

Just then, someone in a creepy half-melted Pennywise the clown mask came out and Wilber looked confused (that is HIS gimmick).  He didn’t pay attention to what happened next.

===== In the 11th minute of the match: =====

The Magnificent Juan Raul Fargo executes a RIGHT-HAND SMASH....

Wilber Townsend absorbs the punishment.

The Magnificent Juan Raul Fargo wins with a RIGHT-HAND SMASH over Wilber Townsend!!

The team of JR Fargo and Alejandro Guerrero get the win and the fans pop huge for them.  The masked person on the stage removes his mask and it’s…DENNIS MARSHALL!  Dennis is playing mindgames with the Eaters of Worlds and it made an impact.  Wilber was stewing in the ring while Dennis stayed on the stage pointing to Wilber and then his own head (showing he can outsmart the mind-games expert).  Dennis left.  JR and Lee also went to the back.  Wilber and TNT eventually left while the fans taunted them.

Match #3:  Kroman the Barbarian vs Rex Rampage.

Our next match starts off with newcomer Rex Rampage coming to the ring.  He gets a decent pop from the fans as he makes his way to the ring.  Next, Kroman the Barbarian comes out to a huge negative reaction from the crowd.  Wow, this guy is really unlikable.  The match began and Kroman dominated the match.  He owned the newcomer from pillar to post.  We jump to the 6th minute of the match.

Kroman the Barbarian submits!!!

Rex Rampage wins with a RAMPAGE LOCK over Kroman the Barbarian!!!

Rex Rampage gets the win in his debut match but he leaves the ring quickly as Zack Brown enters and he and Kroman duke it out until Kroman had enough and left the ring.  Zack gets on the mick and challenges Kroman to a ‘Loser Leaves HCW’ match tomorrow night in Columbia.  Kroman makes his way to the stage and begins laughing.  Just then, Col. Flagg shows up and hands an envelope (presumably with money) to Kroman for goading the Commando into the match.  Col. Flagg mouths that he will do whatever it takes to ensure Zack is out of HCW and their match at Meltdown never happens.

Match #4:  Luna Shadow vs Lavender Gooms

Lavender made her way out first to booing from the crowd.  Luna came out next to a nice pop from the crowd.

Just as the match began, Chloe Parker came out and went to sit at ringside.  Both Lavender and Luna had words with her for disrupting the match.  Lavender went right on the offensive taking Luna down with a hurricanrana.  She then locked Luna in the Lavender Lock.  Luna made it to the ropes but Chloe ran over and hit her hand with what looked like a pipe to get her to release the ropes.  Lavender cinched in the Lock with her hand in extreme pain, Luna tapped out.  Lavender Gooms gets the win in 2 short minutes due to outside interference from Chloe Parker.  Lavender left after having her hand raised.  Chloe got in the ring and stood over Luna who was holding her hand gingerly.  Chloe grabbed it and immediately stomped on it.  Luna screamed in pain.  A few refs rushed out and got Chloe out of there and tended to Luna.  They helped her to the back.

We head backstage for a promo from the TV Champion ‘the Financial Maverick’ Evan Stockwell and his manager the diabolical Ruth Heartless.

Evan ‘the Financial Maverick’ Stockwell: (adjusting his tie) Ruth, my dear, do you see this? The HCW TV Championship—a symbol of power, prestige, and, most importantly, cold, hard cash. Tonight, Outback Oscar steps into the ring with the Financial Maverick, and he’s about to learn a valuable lesson: money talks, and Evan Stockwell walks.

Ruth Heartless: (smirking) Oh, Evan, you’re positively dripping with financial finesse. Oscar thinks he can outwrestle you? Ha! He’s a kangaroo-loving dreamer, hopping around like he’s got a chance. But we know better, don’t we?

Evan ‘the Financial Maverick’ Stockwell: (leans in) Ruth, my dear manager, remind me—how many zeros are in a million? Because that’s how much I’m worth. And Oscar? Well, he’s worth about as much as a rusty boomerang. Tonight, I’ll show him the true meaning of wealth: dominance, dividends, and dollar signs.

Ruth Heartless: (whispers) Evan, remember our strategy. Play dirty. Use those expensive cufflinks to your advantage. And if things get hairy, slip a few bills to the ref. We’re not here to win hearts; we’re here to win matches.

Evan ‘the Financial Maverick’ Stockwell: (winks) Ruth, you’re a genius. Oscar won’t know what hit him. By the time I’m done, he’ll be begging for a loan just to cover his medical bills. And when I lock in the Profit Margin Submission Hold, he’ll tap out faster than the stock market crash of '29.

Ruth Heartless: (holds up a briefcase) Here’s your secret weapon—the Golden Ledger. It’s filled with unpaid debts, shady investments, and compromising photos of Oscar with a koala. Use it wisely.

Evan ‘the Financial Maverick’ Stockwell: (snatches the briefcase) Ruth, you’re a treasure. Tonight, Outback Oscar becomes a footnote in my financial legacy. And when the bell tolls, the only currency that matters is victory. Woo-hoo! (flashes a hundred-dollar bill)

Ruth Heartless: (smiles) Evan, go make it rain. And remember, we’re not just wrestlers; we’re financial titans. Let’s bankrupt Oscar’s dreams and invest in our own future.

(They exit, leaving a trail of metaphorical stock market crashes and smug grins.)

Match #5:  The Main Event:  TV Title match:  Evan Stockwell vs Outback Oscar

Outback Oscar comes out first to a solid pop from the crowd.  He’s barely in the ring before the music changes and out comes the TV Champion and his manager.  Evan holds the title high as the fans boo.  Ruth holds the briefcase up and the fans boo even louder.  They walk to the ring and enter through the ropes.  Evan motions for Oscar to back up so he can flaunt the title to enrage the fans.  He hands the title to the ref and Ruth leaves so the match can begin.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2024 #1012

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.

The show opens with a burst of pyrotechnics and the roar of the crowd. The camera pans across the packed arena in Columbia, SC, capturing the excitement in the air.

Announcer 1: Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to another thrilling night of HCW action! We've got a stacked card for you tonight, with titles on the line and grudges to be settled.

Announcer 2: That's right! And don't forget, we've got a special message from Mr. X later on. But first, a word from the Rich Athlete and his manager before we get to our opening match!

Rich Athlete Promo:

"Woooo! Ladies and gentlemen, gather ‘round! The Rich Athlete is in the house, stylin’, profilin’, and ready to take on O.P. Cunningham like a limousine ridin’, jet flyin’, kiss-stealin’, wheelin’ dealin’ son of a gun!

You see, Ruth Heartless, my manager, she’s got more cunning than a fox in a henhouse. She’s got the brains, the beauty, and the bankroll to back it up. And together, we’re gonna make sure O.P. Cunningham learns a lesson he won’t forget. Mayberry? That’s where they grow corn, right? Well, O.P., you’re about to get harvested, my friend!

The Rich Athlete doesn’t just wear gold around his neck; he bathes in it. His Rolex? It’s got more diamonds than a starry night. And those custom-made boots? They’re so shiny, you’ll need sunglasses just to look at 'em. But don’t be fooled by the glitz and glamour, because when the bell rings, it’s all business.

O.P., you’re gonna find out why they call me the Nature Boy of the Boardroom! I’ll slap you with a lawsuit faster than you can say “Woo!” And when I lock in the Tax Break Figure-Four Leglock, you’ll be beggin’ for mercy. But there won’t be any refunds, my friend. No sir, because the Rich Athlete doesn’t give handouts; he takes 'em.

So lace up those boots, O.P., and get ready to tango with the diamond-studded dynamo. Because tonight, in this very ring, you’re gonna learn that money talks, and the Rich Athlete walks—right over your dreams, your hopes, and your Mayberry memories. Woooo!"

Announcer 1: And with that out of the way, let’s get to our first match of the evening.

Match 1: Biceps Bannerman vs. Mountain Man Junior Huber

Biceps Bannerman makes his entrance to a massive pop from the crowd. His imposing physique and charisma are on full display. The cheers turn to boos as Mountain Man Junior Huber makes his way to the ring, his hulking figure towering over the audience.

The match begins with a lock-up in the center of the ring, with Huber quickly gaining the upper hand due to his size and strength. He throws Bannerman into the corner and delivers a series of heavy body blows. Bannerman fights back with forearm smashes, eventually creating some space.

Huber attempts a running splash in the corner, but Bannerman dodges, causing Huber to crash into the turnbuckle. Bannerman follows up with a spinebuster, shaking the ring. He goes for a pin, but Huber kicks out at two. The match continues with both men trading powerful moves, showcasing their strength and resilience.

In the climax, Huber tries to hit a devastating chokeslam, but Bannerman counters with an arm drag, followed by a thunderous spear. Bannerman covers Huber for the three-count.

Winner: Biceps Bannerman

Announcer 2 :  Biceps Bannerman gets the win and the fans can’t get enough of it.  They pop for him all the way to the back.

Announcer 1:  Sounds like someone backstage has something to say.  Let’s go there now.

Backstage Interview

The scene shifts backstage where the interviewer is standing with The Freedom Fighters.

Interviewer: Justice, Flash, tonight you face The Snake Pit. What are your thoughts going into this match?

Justice: The Snake Pit thinks they can slither their way to victory, but they're about to find out that freedom always prevails!

Flash: We're not just fighting for ourselves, we're fighting for every single fan out there! Snake Pit, get ready to feel the lightning!

Match 2: The Freedom Fighters vs. The Snake Pit

Justice and Flash make their entrance to a chorus of cheers, their energy electrifying the crowd. The Snake Pit follows, their presence sending chills through the arena.  Leiton comes out with the Pit but after a fist bump on the stage, Tobias and Niven head to the ring.

The match starts with Justice and Tobias Snake in the ring. Justice uses his speed to avoid Tobias's attacks, landing quick jabs and a dropkick. Tobias tags in Niven, who overpowers Justice with a series of suplexes. Flash tags in and uses his high-flying moves to turn the tide, hitting a springboard crossbody on Niven.

The Snake Pit isolates Flash in their corner, using quick tags and double-team maneuvers. Flash eventually makes a hot tag to Justice, who clears the ring with a series of clotheslines and a high-angle backdrop. In the end, Justice and Flash execute their double-team finisher, The Liberty Strike, on Tobias for the win.

Winners: The Freedom Fighters

Announcer 1:  FLASH…BANG…JUSTICE has been served.  The Freedom Fighters get the win and the fans pop for them.

Announcer 2:  The Snake Pit make their way to the back but it wouldn’t surprise me if they were up to something.

Announcer 1:  It’s time to hear from Mr. X.  Let’s hear what he has to say.

In-Ring Promo: Mr. X

The lights dim and a sinister theme plays as Mr. X makes his way to the ring. The crowd boos loudly as he takes the microphone, his expression a mixture of anger and determination.

Mr. X: Silence! You pathetic worms don't deserve to be in my presence. 10 days ago, I proved my dominance by crushing Jack Lumber in a steel cage match. Yet somehow, in some twisted decision by the HCW management, he has been inserted into the Fatal Four Way match for the World Title. This is an outrage!

The crowd erupts in cheers at the mention of Jack Lumber, their support for the underdog hero evident.

Mr. X: You cheer for him? For Jack Lumber? He had his chance, and he failed! But HCW management wants to give him another shot? Fine. Because now, the stakes are higher. Now, it's Hell in a Cell.

The crowd’s excitement grows at the announcement of the brutal match stipulation.

Mr. X: Jack Lumber, listen closely. Inside that cell, there is no escape, no interference, and no mercy. I am going to take you out for good. When those doors are locked, you will face the full wrath of Mr. X. This isn't just a match—it's your execution.

Mr. X's face contorts with fury as he paces the ring.

Mr. X: I will dismantle you piece by piece until there's nothing left. You think you can step into the ring with me again? This time, there will be no coming back. This time, I end your career. Remember this, Jack—hell isn't a place you visit. It's a place where I live, and I'll make sure you never forget it.  And as far as The Wicked Prophet and the Banker go, they too will fall to the might of Mr. X and I WILL walk out as Champion.

The crowd boos loudly, but there's a palpable tension in the air as Mr. X drops the microphone and stares into the camera, his eyes burning with a menacing intensity.

Announcer 1: Strong words from Mr. X! Jack Lumber better be ready for the fight of his life inside Hell in a Cell!

Announcer 2: You can’t forget the former World Champion the Wicked Prophet or the current World Champion the Banker.  You can feel the intensity in the air! What will happen when these four finally collide in that unforgiving structure? Don't miss it!

The camera fades to black, leaving the audience eagerly anticipating the brutal showdown

Backstage Segment

The camera cuts to Ruth Heartless giving final instructions to The Rich Athlete before his match.

Ruth Heartless: Remember, this isn't just a match—it's a message. Show everyone why you're the best, why you're the richest, why you're unstoppable.

Rich Athlete: Don't worry, Ruth. OP Cunningham is about to learn a painful lesson in economics.

Match 3: OP Cunningham vs. The Rich Athlete w/Ruth Heartless

OP Cunningham gets a warm reception from the crowd, but The Rich Athlete enters with a smug grin, accompanied by Ruth Heartless. The match is a showcase of athleticism and technical skill.

The Rich Athlete starts with a series of chain wrestling maneuvers, grounding Cunningham. Cunningham fights back with a flurry of strikes and a beautiful dropkick, sending The Rich Athlete to the outside. Cunningham follows up with a suicide dive, igniting the crowd.

Back in the ring, The Rich Athlete regains control with a well-placed knee to Cunningham's gut, followed by a suplex. He taunts the crowd, drawing heavy boos. Cunningham counters a powerbomb attempt into a hurricanrana, then hits a spinning heel kick. As Cunningham sets up for his finisher, Ruth Heartless distracts the referee, allowing The Rich Athlete to rake Cunningham's eyes and locks in his finisher, the Luxurious Leglock for the 1-2-3 as OP could not get his shoulders up in time.

Winner: The Rich Athlete

The fans practically riot and throw stuff at the Rich Athlete.  One cup that was full of something was thrown at him but he managed to catch it and hurl it back into the crowd dousing them with whatever was in there.  He and Ruth had a good laugh and made their way to the back.

Backstage Interview

Goldie Locks is seen warming up for her match when she's approached by the interviewer.

Interviewer: Goldie, you're facing Sarona Reiher tonight. Any final words before you step into the ring?

Goldie Locks: Sarona may think she's tough, but I've got the heart of a champion. Tonight, I'm fighting for all the underdogs out there. Let's shine, baby!

Match 4: Goldie Locks vs. Sarona Reiher

Goldie Locks enters to a big cheer, her infectious energy resonating with the fans. Sarona Reiher follows, exuding confidence and disdain.

The match begins with a quick exchange of holds, showing off both competitors' technical abilities. Sarona gains the upper hand with a vicious clothesline, followed by a series of power moves. Goldie rallies with a headscissors takedown and a springboard elbow drop.

Sarona counters with a spinebuster, going for a pin, but Goldie kicks out at two. The two women exchange strikes, with Goldie gaining momentum. She hits a series of high-impact moves, culminating in a top-rope crossbody. Sarona tries to recover, but Goldie catches her in a small package for the three-count.

Winner: Goldie Locks

The fans pop as Goldie gets the win.  Sarona tried to attack her after the bell had rung but she showed her the exit right over the top rope to the floor.  Goldie celebrates with the fans before heading to the back.

Announcer 1:  What a great win for Goldie Locks.

Announcer 2:  She is making her way back into top contention for that coveted Ladies Title.  It could soon be within her grasp.

Backstage Segment

The New Sicilians, Dick and Vinnie Albano, are seen preparing for their title defense with their manager Pierre Boulay, who is hyping them up.

Pierre Boulay: Tonight, we remind everyone why we're the best! No one can take these titles from us, especially not The Flaggship. Let's show them what dominance looks like.

Match #5:  Main Event: Tag Team Title Match - The New Sicilians (Dick and Vinnie Albano) w/Pierre Boulay vs. The Flaggship (Col Flagg and the Bounty Hunter Jake Montrose)

The New Sicilians enter to a chorus of boos, accompanied by Pierre Boulay, who arrogantly taunts the crowd. The Flaggship follows, determined and focused, receiving a similar reaction from the fans.

The match begins with Vinnie and Col Flagg locking up. Vinnie's dirty tactics, including eye gouges and rope chokes, give the Sicilians an early advantage. Frequent tags between Dick and Vinnie keep Flagg isolated, with Pierre Boulay constantly interfering from ringside.

Flagg manages to tag in Jake Montrose, who clears house with a series of high-impact moves. The Bounty Hunter's offense turns the tide, and The Flaggship gains momentum. Montrose hits a devastating spinebuster on Vinnie, followed by a near-fall that is broken up by Dick.

As chaos ensues, Pierre Boulay distracts the referee, allowing The New Sicilians to execute their signature double-team move, "The Concrete Jungle" (a combination of a superkick from Vinnie and a spinning spinebuster from Dick). Just as they are about to secure the win, The Commando Zack Brown rushes to ringside, attacking Col Flagg and causing a massive brawl outside the ring.

With the referee distracted, Montrose is blindsided by another cheap shot from Boulay. The New Sicilians capitalize, hitting Montrose with "The Concrete Jungle" again. The referee turns around just in time to count the pin, and The New Sicilians retain their titles amidst a sea of boos.

Winners: The New Sicilians
