Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter. Tonight, we are treated to two title matches – Texas Wildfire defends the Hardcore title against Wilber Townsend and the World Tag Team Champions – DD Double D Duo (Dash Woodbrick and Dennis Marshall) defend the titles against the team of Ovaltine Jackson and Ghee Buttersnaps. We’re also finally going to hear from ‘Broken’ Korbi Kong on her turn against her former BFF Ladies Champion Violet Valkyrie. All this and more are coming so let’s get this party started.
Pyro
goes off kicking off today’s show.
First, out comes Casper Wyoming to a nice pop from the crowd. He interacts with the fans and makes his way
to the ring. After one lap around the
ring, he climbs in ready for action. The
music changes and over the loudspeakers, we hear “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE”
and out comes Apollo. The fans boo the
crap out of him but he mostly ignores them.
He gets up to the ring but feels that Casper is too close and refuses to
get in until Casper backs the *BLEEP* up (the censors were ready for
that). Casper asks the ref if Apollo is
always like this and he rolls his eyes.
Finally, Apollo seems ready and the bell rings starting this one
off. Casper dominated the first 10
minutes of the match but then a low blow from Apollo changed the pace of the
match. We join the match now at the 11
minute mark.

Wyoming gets the win and the fans pop loudly for him. He climbs the turnbuckle to enjoy his time
but he is attacked from behind by the Wicked Prophet. Prophet hits him with the SMITE and follows
it up with two consecutive Unrighteous Dominion. Prophet stands over Casper as the ref tries
to back him off. He looks down at Casper
making it seem like he was going to continue the onslaught but he turned and left. The ref helped Casper to his feet and walked
with him to the back.
We
head backstage where Larry Morton is with ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito and ‘Broken’
Korbi Kong. Maxine says that everything
happening to Violet is all deliberate.
First, she’s broken Korbi Kong and next, she’ll break Violet. ‘Broken Korbi’ starts to go off. “If you’re my best friend, then where were
you? When Maxine kidnapped me, where
were you? I’ll tell you where. You took MY spot. I should have gotten an immediate rematch but
you came down and brainwashed me with your goody-two-shoes attitude and you
took MY spot and MY title. I’m taking it
back and will take you out in the process”.
Violet interrupts and Korbi
attacks her as Maxine directs and watches.
Maxine says Korbi gets a shot at Violet at the July PPV to soften Violet
up and she will be getting the title match in August. She says she will have something special
planned for Violet. She laughs
maniacally. The segment ends with Maxine
and ‘Broken Korbi’ standing over Violet.
We
head back to the ring for our next match.
The lights go dim and a single solitary light shines on the stage. The camera zooms in and we see Wilber
Townsend standing there wearing his creepy Pennywise like mask. The mask is all deformed like it sat in a hot
car and began to melt. Wilber, in his
creepy personae, makes his way to the ring.
He gets in the ring and takes a mic.
He tells Texas Wildfire that tonight, their match for the Hardcore title
will be a Thumbtack Deathmatch. Those
are the rules he’s chosen and that is what they’re doing tonight. The lights come up and the music changes and
the fans pop as Texas Wildfire makes his way out. He immediately makes a beeline for the
ring. He carefully climbs in keeping a
wary eye on Wilber. He takes the mic and
agrees to the stipulation. He removes
his jacket and the match begins.

is bleeding from his thumbtack punctures but he doesn’t seem to care. He basks in the contempt from the crowd and
he laughs that creepy laugh of his. He
eventually leaves with his new title.
Backstage,
Casper Wyoming walks into GM Max McGillicutty’s office. He says that the Wicked Prophet is becoming
an annoying thorn in his side. He asks
Max to give him a match. Max replies and
says that the Wicked Prophet is not interested in just any old match. “Fine” Casper says, “We can have a match at
the PPV.” Max thinks it’s a great idea
(now, whether or not the Wicked Prophet agrees remains to be seen) and makes
the match for the July 4th PPV.
Casper leaves with a small measure of satisfaction.
We
head back to the ring for our next match.
First, regal music plays and out comes Queen Goldie Locks. Goldie had her chance at the Ladies title
taken away by Maxine and ‘Broken Korbi’ and tonight, she gets some
revenge. She asked for a match against ‘Sassy’
Maxine DeVito and the GM granted it.
Goldie gets into the ring and prepares for her match. The music changes and out comes Maxine DeVito
accompanied by ‘the Broken one’ (Maxine keeps calling her Broken). They walk down to the ring and Maxine enters. This one starts quickly

Goldie Locks gets the win but it is short lived as ‘Broken Korbi’ hits the ring
and attacks her Highness. That attack
doesn’t go long as Ladies Champion Violet Valkyrie rushes out with a chair in
hand. ‘Broken Korbi’ and Maxine both bail
out of the ring. Violet gets on the mic
and says she is issuing a challenge to the two of them. Goldie offers to be her tag team
partner. Maxine looks like she’s going
to accept but then throws her hands up and she and Korbi leave without an
answer. Violet shakes hands with her
Ladyship and the two of them leave.
After
a brief hiatus, TNT storms out and gets into the ring. The fans boo him not giving him much
opportunity to speak on the mic.
Finally, when a break comes, he starts laying into Phantom Frank and
demands a re-match right here and now.
Phantom Frank comes out and says that he’s not fighting TNT or even for
that matter, Templeton Newman Townsend.
He is in fact wrestling Emerson ‘Turnip’ Townsend. TNT gets all in an uproar. You can tell Frank is laughing under his
mask. “It’s only the name of your true
self; you’ve only forgotten it” (paraphrasing Luke Skywalker). TNT rushes out of the ring and up the ramp
and he and Phantom Frank begin trading blows.
They bring the fight back down and into the ring and the match
officially begins.

tall in the ring over the unconscious form of Phantom Frank. The lights suddenly go out but when they come
back on, Phantom Frank is nowhere to be found.
Wilber gets on the mic and says that HE is the master of the mind games;
not some goof in a purple outfit. Wilber
says that he and Phantom Frank have a date with destiny. Wilber laughs that maniacal laugh of his and
he and his brother leave.
Backstage,
there is something going down between the Tag Team Champions. Dash continues to state that Dennis is
undermining the team (he brings up that, although there is no I in team, there
is ME (Dash points to himself). Dennis
says they did the right thing offering a match to the Steel Curtain. Dash says Dennis better get his head in the
game and walks off. Dennis deeply sighs
and follows.
It’s
time for our MAIN EVENT! First, the
challengers – Ovaltine Jackson and Ghee Buttersnaps come out to a nice pop from
the crowd. They shake hands with the
fans and enter the ring. The music
changes and we hear “DD Double D Duo” and out comes Dash Woodbrick and Dennis
Marshall. They have a quick chat and
seem to be on the same page. The champs
head to the ring (Dash ignoring the fans and Dennis high fiving a few) and
enter the ring. Dennis holds his title
up but Dash climbs the turnbuckle getting the ire from the crowd. Before the match could begin, the music
changed again and the Steel Curtain come out.
Buzz and Starbuck Steel make their way to commentary to scout the
match. Dash tried to complain to the ref
but it fell on deaf ears. Dash exited
the ring and began jaw jacking with the Steel Curtain. Starbuck said they wouldn’t be the ones to
raise a fist first but if Dash didn’t get out of their faces, he’d change his
mind. Dash then sucker punched Starbuck
and then Buzz. There it is. The gauntlet has been thrown down. It’s only going to get messier from
here. Dash snuck back into the ring and
told the ref to keep an eye on ‘those cheaters’. Ghee and Ovaltine actually dominated the
champs and Dash tried on a couple of occasions to leave but Buzz and Starbuck
blocked his way up the ramp. After the
final time, Buzz got in the ring. Dash
pushed him again and Dash bumped into Ovaltine.
The ref then immediately called for the bell and awarded the match to
Ovaltine and Ghee via disqualification.
Belts don’t change hands on a DQ but DD Double D Duo walk out with their
belts intact. I think Buzz did that on
purpose to make sure the Duo still had the titles come hell or high water at
the PPV.
The
show comes to an end with the Steel Curtain apologizing to Ghee and Ovaltine
while Dash and Dennis (mostly Dash) threw a tantrum and stormed off.
This
feud is at its boiling point. Stay tuned
to watch the explosion that ensues.
