HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #887 – 2/24 – Go Home Show

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Today, we have our ‘go home show’ – the final show before the PPV this coming Sunday.  On Sunday, the King of HCW and the current World Champion the Wicked Prophet ‘defends’ his crown and attempts to do something that hasn’t been achieved since Damian Sandow defeated Jerry Lawler to become the new King…repeat.  As pyro goes off kicking off the show, we go live to a message from the World Champion himself.

 

The Wicked Prophet shows up on the Omegatron.  The fans boo. “That chunky monkey Phat Sol never stood a chance. Also, it’s obvious to me that GM Max McGillicutty is scrambling to find any worthy contenders for my title, using a wheel to determine contenders. Not surprised, every other wrestler in HCW is a chump.”

 

Harsh words from the champ.  He’d better be able to back that up in 4 days.  Let’s get to the action.

 

After pyro goes off, the Bounty Hunter Jake Montrose makes his way out.  The fans boo mercilessly.  He flips them off.  He gets into the ring and continues to taunt the crowd until the loudspeakers blare out “TIMMMBERRRRRR” and out comes our resident lumberjack Jack Lumber.  The fans give Jack a huge pop.  Jack gets into the ring and Jake tries to start things early but Lumber is there to hold him off.  Jack totally dominates the match.  At the 10 minute mark, Drew the Canadian Love Machine comes out and stands on stage.  He’s trying to distract Jack.  Jack responds by hitting the Bounty Hunter with the TIMMMBERRRR and makes the cover hooking the leg and staring at Drew as the ref counts 1-2-3.  Jack gets the win and the fans pop huge.  Drew motions like he’s going to break Jack and then walks off.  Jack celebrates with the fans before heading to the back.  (11 min)

 

A promo is shown recapping past Crown winners showcasing Damian Sandow, CJ (Conan Jones), Wilber Townsend, Rad Gumbo, Lucas Johnston and finally the Wicked Prophet.  It is then announced that the previous Kings will all have a seat at ringside during Prophet’s defense of the crown.  It will be great to see them again.

 

Our next match is ready to get underway.  First, Billy Robbins makes his way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He starts to make his way down to the ring when his opponent Drew the Canadian Love Machine comes out and attacks him from behind.  He throws Billy into the steel steps with a resounding CRASH!  He rolls Billy into the ring and tells the ref to ring the bell. Drew gets cocky early on but eventually Billy puts up a good fight and Drew starts to get worried.  8 minutes in, Drew starts to unload on Billy and then dominates the match from that point on.  18 minutes in, Drew plants Billy with the Lover Bomb but he doesn’t hook the leg and Billy kicks out.  Drew picks Billy up and then takes him back down with a handstand headscissors.  This time, Drew hooks the leg (and some tights) and gets the 1-2-3.  Drew continues to put the boots to Billy until the ref is ready to disqualify him and he stops.  The fans boo as Drew makes his way to the back.  (19 min)

 

We cut to the back outside and a car pulls up.   It stops and out comes…J9 and ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito.  The fans booing can be heard all the way outside the building.  Maxine smirks and says “We’re Baaaaack”.  J9 says they have a message to deliver in the ring and make their way in.

 

We head back to the ring for out next match.  First, TNT makes his way out and the fans boo.  He makes his way to ringside and enters the ring.  The music changes and out comes ‘The Hoff’ Davis Hoffmeister.   Davis dominated the match early but after missing a shoulder tackle and hitting the ring post, the match went into TNT’s favor.  It also didn’t help that at the 14 minute mark, TNT’s sibling Wilber Townsend came out.  Wilber was booed as he cheered his brother on.  That gave TNT a shot of intestinal fortitude and he planted Davis with a powerbomb.  They were close to the ropes and TNT made the cover.  The ref began counting 1…2…Davis gets his foot on the bottom rope only for Wilber to knock it off…3.  TNT gets the win thanks to his brother.  Wilber stays and gives TNT a big ol’ hug.  The siblings remain at ringside as Davis eventually makes it to the back.  (15 min)

 

Wilber remains and enters the ring.  He says that the dark side will take over and there is no one in HCW who can stop it.   Music hits and out comes 1/3^rd of the 6 Man Tag Team Champions Buzz Steel.  Buzz is accompanied by his brother Starbuck.  Buzz gets on the mic and tells Wilber that if he wants some competition, he is standing right here.  (Editor’s note:  I have to say that after Buzz was injured last year and took time off, he took that time to get healthy.  He lost well over 100 pounds (with the help of surgery) and looked svelte and fit.  Buzz made his way into the ring while Starbuck remained to keep an eye on TNT.  Buzz didn’t match Wilber’s savagery but uses his new quickness to stay practically toe to toe with the crazy one for the majority of the match.  Wilber went for the pin 5 times in 17 minutes but Buzz would not stay down.  Buzz began to pepper Wilber with lefts and rights and then dropped Wilber with the Buzzkill.  He went for the pin but TNT got Wilber’s foot on the bottom rope to stop the count.  Starbuck began chasing TNT around the ring but stopped when it was clear he wasn’t going to catch him.  At the 25 minute mark, the ref was recovering from taking a bump.  TNT had jumped up on the apron and was holding Buzz.  Starbuck ran over and pulled TNT from off the apron and TNT smacked his head into the mat as he hit the floor.  Buzz then hit a Buzz Cut (Diamond Cutter) out of nowhere and rolled Wilber up for the 1-2-3.  Buzz Steel gets the win. 

 

Just then, the King of HCW and World Champion the Wicked Prophet came out.  He mockingly clapped for Buzz.  He got on the mic and belittled the HCW roster and claimed he was walking out of the PPV as the King once again.  This brought out the ENTIRE men’s locker room.  Everyone crowded into the ring and began trading punches.  Prophet snuck out of the ring pointing to his head (that he outsmarted everyone) and laughed as he made his way to the back.  Once the roster figured out Prophet wasn’t in the ring anymore, they all exited the ring and power walked to the back.

 

It is time for our main event with the Ladies Title on the line.  First, the challenger Sarona Reiher came out and was booed pretty heavily.   The loudspeakers blare out “KORBI KONG SMASH” and out comes the Ladies Champion Korbi Kong.  She gets the loudest pop of the night.  She makes her way to the ring interacting with fans along the way.  She gets into the ring and immediately climbs the corner turnbuckle holding her title high.  Sarona yells at her impatiently demanding a quick start to the match.  Korbi obliges but Sarona hits a cheap shot before the bell setting the pace of the match.

Korbi gets the win and retains her title.  Her victory is short lived as she is immediately attacked by J9 and Maxine DeVito.  While the attack was going on, Violet Valkyrie came out and made her way to ringside.  She was getting ready to join in the ‘fun’ until Hayley Hailstorm and Goldie Locks came rushing to Korbi’s aid.  They got into the ring and chased off the 3 attackers.  Korbi thanked Hayley and Goldie for helping to prevent further attacks.  Maxine got on a mic and whined about Hayley’s and Goldie’s interference and stated that at the pay per view, they should have a 6 woman battle.  She, J9 and Violet will team up to take on Korbi, Goldie and Hayley.  The 3 fan favorites accepted the match and it looks like we have the last match on our card.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #886 – 2/17

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Well, we knew if we put the nose to the grindstone that we would get caught up…and we did.  We’re back on pace to resume our weekly shows provided something crazy doesn’t happen (or a certain writer gets lazy again). 

 

The show begins with a limo pulling up outside.  The World Champion and King of HCW the Wicked Prophet steps out.  He looks on with disdain that there was no red carpet for him to walk so he just ignored everyone.

 

Backstage, GM Max McGillicutty is putting names on a board.  He says that a lucky winner gets a shot at the World Title tonight.  He spins the wheel and it gets stuck between the Banker and Phat Sol.  The door to the office slams open and the Wicked Prophet marches into the office.  “Why was there no red carpet for me…and what the hell are you doing?”  Max says the red carpet is at the cleaners and that Prophet just interrupted seeing who was going to get the title match tonight.  He looks back and the wheel and sees that the stomping Prophet did moved the wheel ever so slightly.  “Looks like you get Phat Sol tonight” Max says.  “Who or what is a fatty bowl?”  A disgusted look crosses his face and he leaves before Max could respond.

 

Pyro goes off and our first match is ready to get underway.  First, Starbuck Steel makes his way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He makes his way to the ring and enters.  As he’s getting the crowd psyched up, the music changes and we hear “I’VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS FOR YA” and out comes ‘Bad News’ Marvin Barnes.  He is booed as he makes his way to the ring.  He responds by flipping off the fans.  He gets into the ring and tries to take a cheap shot at Starbuck but it backfires.  As the match begins, Starbuck dominates allowing Marvin 6 offensive moves in the 15 minutes the match went on.  Starbuck delivered a Hangman’s DDT and got the 3 count at the 15 minute mark.  The fans pop huge for him and he makes his way to the back.  Marvin shrugs off help from the ref and stomps his way to the back.

 

Backstage, Phat Sol says he heard every word the Wicked Prophet said about him.  He says tonight, the so-called King of HCW will know his name when he takes the World title.

 

Next up, newcomer Derek Deveraux comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He shakes hands with the fans and enters the ring.  He doesn’t wait long for his opponent Dash ‘Smooooth’ Woodbrick makes his way out.  The co-holder of the Tag Team titles gets the crap booed out of him (and for good reason… he sucks).  Derek took control of the match early but Dash began fighting back until Derek threw him out of the ring.  Dash tried to get back in and complained to the ref when Derek wouldn’t back away so he threw his hands up and left.  The ref kept counting and upon reaching 10, he counted Dash out and awarded the match via count out to Derek Deveraux.  Derek didn’t like how the match ended but a win is a win.  (6 min)

 

We waste no time in getting our next match underway.  First, Billy Robbins comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He’s barely in the ring before the music changed and out comes the Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless.  The Banker is booed but he doesn’t seem to care.  He and Ruth make their way down to the ring.  The Banker begins to showboat after the bell rang and Billy stunned him with a Slingshot Smash.  He immediately rolled the Banker up but only got a 1 count.  The Banker hits a Credit Check Chop before sending Billy crashing into the steel post.  He then locks on the ATM Fee Armbar and Billy has no choice but to tap out.  The Banker gets the win in this very short 3 minute match.  The fans boo as he and Ruth gather their belongings and make their way to the back.

 

Backstage, Derek is attacked by both Dash Woodbrick and Apollo Gyze.  The save comes after a bunch of backstage hands formed a shield to protect Derek from further attacks.  Dash and Apollo walked away laughing but Derek yelled after them he wants them next week.  He will find a tag team partner.

 

Next up on the card is our Ladies Match.  First, Missy Chick comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  She makes her way to the ring.  As the music changes, the fans go sour as Violet Valkyrie comes out.  They boo her as she makes her way out and just sneers at them.  She gets in the ring and begins mocking the fans and they respond in kind.  Violet had control of the match early on but after Ladies Champion Korbi Kong came out to stand on the stage, it threw Violet off her game.  Missy took advantage of the situation and stunned Violet with a running one-handed bulldog.  Missy rolled Violet up and got the 3 count at the 14 minute mark.  Korbi smirked and then turned and left.  Violet got to her feet and sneered at where Korbi was but then an evil smile crossed her face.  She then turned and left.

 

GM Max McGillicutty comes out and tells the fans that in just a week, we will have our next PPV Reigning Royalty.  All the men will compete for a chance to meet the current King – the Wicked Prophet – for his crown.  No man since Damian Sandow has held the crown for more than a year.  Past Kings included Damian Sandow, CJ (aka Conan Jones), Wilber Townsend, ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo, ‘Luke Warm’ (was ‘Red Hot’) Lucas Johnston and then our current King the Wicked Prophet.  He announces that this year, we will also crown our first ever ‘Queen’ of HCW.  A ladies battle royal will also be held to see which superstar becomes the first Queen of HCW.  Max then leaves to a huge pop from the crowd and we get ready for our main event.

 

It’s time for the Main Event.  First, Phat Sol comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He makes his way down and interacts with the fans along the way.  He gets into the ring and continues to psyche up the crowd for the next minute.  The music changes and out comes the King of HCW, the World Champion the Wicked Prophet.  Prophet is being carried to the ring on a throne by his minions (lackeys, not the short yellow guys).  He glances out into the sea of fans and for a brief moment, he sees a flash of yellow but as fast as it came, it was gone.  Prophet makes his lackeys hold the ropes open for him so he can enter the ring.  He gives Phat a sideways glance before climbing the turnbuckles (still decked in his regal attire) and holds the World title high.  The fans booing intensifies.  He sneers at them and steps down handing the title to the ref who holds it up.  He removes his robe and crown handing them delicately to his lackeys.  He stretches a bit and then the bell rings starting this one off.
