HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #765 – Fanfest and Hall of Fame Ceremony (04/17) – Tacoma, WA

Hello fans and welcome to HCW’s Fanfest and Hall of Fame ceremony celebrating the 4 individuals and one team who will be inducted into the class of 2019.

First, the Fanfest.  The meet and greet was completely sold out.  Fans waited outside for hours before the doors opened and then flooded into the building to seek out their favorite superstars.  One superstar who didn’t have a line at all was (surprise surprise) Apollo Gyze.  One who did have a long line, his PPV opponent the Wicked Prophet.  Prophet's line was crazy long and of course, Apollo got jealous and made his way over heckling Prophet.  The fans booed but Apollo wasn’t leaving (nor was he apologizing for interrupting Prophet's meet and greet).  Apollo finally got some people to come visit him but it was not on par with some other heels such as the 5th Column or even the evil vampire bot Dr. Red Fang.  Apollo ended up leaving the event early but did make his way back in time for the Hall of Fame Ceremony.

Two other wrestlers who actually got physical during the meet and greet were Roderick Rothchild and the King of Cones Magnum Kone.  The two had to be separated by GM’s Max McGillicutty and Master Bull.  Max said that the fans tonight would be in for a treat as he was giving them a special match tonight.  Rothchild vs Kone and it will be in the confines of a steel cage.  The fans popped for that.  After this, there were no further incidents (Fang did run around screaming “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE”.  What a silly vampire.

After a quick break giving everyone time to do some shopping and cleaning up, they made their way back to the venue for the Hall of Fame Ceremony.  After a brief recap of each person’s contributions to the world of professional wrestling, GM Max McGillicutty came out.  Max thanks the fans for attending and says this is a special moment for these honorees.  Each of them have contributed to the success of the original HWF and CSWA (our original federations) and HCW.  Max then introduces Master Bull who comes out first.

Master Bull then talks about the contributions that Sonic Blade has made.  He does a recap of some of Sonic’s accolades as well as some of the feuds he’s been involved in over the years.  Bull then introduces Sonic Blade.  The fans give him a standing ovation.  He’s a bit choked up but eventually regains his composure and then speaks.

“I want to thank my family and friends for their love and support.  It has been a long time coming.  I’ve been through so much in such a short time and I can’t believe my time has come.  I’m ready for that next chapter in my life.  Soon, we bring a second child into the world” (the fans pop) “and I’m excited to see what the future has in store.  Bring it on.  Thank you.”

The fans pop for Sonic.  He remains on stage for a minutes as the fans chant “Thank you Sonic” (clap, clap, clapclapclap).  Sonic then turns and leaves the stage.

The next person comes out and it’s manager ‘the Honorable’ JC Dykes.  Dykes gets on the mic and says that even though he and the Unknown Assassin are being inducted into the Hall of Fame, no one was worthy enough for the honors.  Dykes calls UA the greatest Hardcore champion ever (this got some growls and snarls from Dr. Red Fang) and introduces him to the audience.  UA comes out to a mixture of boos and cheers.  The Unknown Assassin tells the fans that Dykes is the greatest manager to ever set foot in the squared circle and he deserves the honor as much as anyone.  Dykes and UA keep putting each other over and finally come to an end.  The fans give them a pop (albeit a small one) as they leave the stage.

Master Bull comes out again and lets us know that originally the plan would be for him to induct ‘the Elitist’ Reid Rothchild but after talking to our next guest, it was determined that the two had more history and that he would be better for doing this.  Music hits and out comes Hall of Famer and co-owner of HCW ‘The Original Big Daddy’ Donnie B.  Mr. B comes out to a pop from the crowd.  Donnie B goes on to talk about how Reid began his career back in the HWF/CSWA days and it all started over a parking spot.  Donnie B puts Reid over and highlights all of his accomplishments.  He then introduces ‘the Elitist’ Reid Rothchild to the stage.  Reid comes out and stands nose to nose with the owner but ends up shaking hands.  Reid makes his way to the podium.

“The Elitist is in the House!  (small pop from the fans).  Listen, I know that my career has been spent as a heel and I can’t tell you, it has been a ton of fun.  Thank you to you the fans (those who were still booing began to cheer) for letting me entertain you.  I am certainly honored to be part of the HCW Hall of Fame and would love to say that it has been a real experience; one that I certainly will never forget.  To all the current members of HCW and those who are brand new or have yet to be discovered, the only advice I can give you is be yourself.  The fans can see phonies so whether you choose to be a heel (bad guy) or a face (good guy), be ‘real’ and be yourself and you will have the career of a lifetime.  Thank you.”  Reid turned to leave but then the fans all stood and chanted “Thank you Reid” (clap, clap, clapclapclap)  Reid was flabbergasted as he could not remember ever getting this kind of response from the crowd.  He turned around and saluted the fans and then left.

GM Max McGillicutty comes out and says that our next inductees have been around a long time and the Mexicali Flyers have asked for two other luchadores (fans may remember them from the original wrestling federation WCW) and introduces first Rey Mysterio Jr.   The fans pop as one of WCW’s original luchadores came out.  The fans remember him from his WCW days but also from the time he spent in HWF and CSWA.  Rey then introduces ‘the chairman of the board’ La Parka.  The fans pop as La Parka comes out.  La Parka is wearing a tux as is Rey and he has a silver briefcase handcuffed to his arm. When he and Rey get to the podium he opens the case and hand him a folder and Rey opens it. It's a speech. He reads it saying El Dragon Insano and Tornado en Fuego used to be kids you used to hang out that the gyms and matches with homemade masks and practiced their moves in alleys and on the streets on Mex City.  Then La Parka and Juvi (Juventud Guerrera) noticed them and that they told Rey and Chavo (Guerrero) about them and that they gave them a try out.  While the Mexicali Flyers didn't make it the first time, they impressed enough that they were taken to see the matches of a few luchadores and learned a few things before becoming enhancement talent. They traveled the world; Europe, Canada, Japan and learned and got better but were passed over for Ohio and Florida.  Finally, they were discovered by Owners Mr. Meyers and Bychowski and they flourished at CSWA and HWF and eventually HCW.

Then Rey askes for the MF’ers to come to the stage and Juvi comes from the back to join them. Juvi motions to LP and he opens the case and Juvi presents them with a gold mask for both men in the styles of their real masks.   Both men are hidden by the luchadores as they don the new masks and make a short speech about the fans and their opponents.  At the end of their speech, the crowd gives them a standing ovation and a number of additional luchadores come out to the stage and lift the 2 men up and carry them of stage in style.

Master Bull makes his way out one last time and said that he wanted to be the one to induct who he called the greatest Women’s champion ever but was once again passed over so he introduces the person who will induct Ravishing Raquel into the Hall of Fame…her husband Reid Rothchild.  Reid comes out and gives Master Bull a hug and shakes his hand and goes to the podium.  Reid begins to call out all of the accomplishments Raquel has had over her illustrious career.  He takes us back to when Raquel was just a fan who idolized Reid and then she became his manager, a successful champion and wife.  He says that Raquel was also the last “Elitist” champion retiring the title after she defeated him for it.  He says he is honored to induct his wife, the greatest women’s champion in HWF/CSWA/HCW history – Ravishing Raquel.

Raquel comes out and gives Reid a big hug and kiss.  “I’ve had so many things to be thankful for in my career here in HCW.  As Reid mentioned, I’ve been the Divas Champion, the Ladies Champion, (when it existed) the Women’s Champion and the Elitist Champion.  I have had great matches with great ladies such as Southern Belle, Taylor Bella, the Duchess and others.  To cover a career such as I’ve had in only a few minutes doesn’t do it justice.  I’ve been blessed to work with the best ladies anywhere.  Back in 2015 when I defeated AJ Lee to begin a run as champion, I never thought I’d be here today.  I would like to think that as I’ve been inspired by those who came before me that I’ve passed that along to the next generation of Ladies Wrestlers.  I look forward to what you, the ladies to today and tomorrow bring to the sport and have the confidence that there will be a new “greatest” champion.  You have it in you.  Make it happen.  Thank you.”

The fans pop huge for Raquel and give her a standing ovation that lasted a good 5 minutes.  Raquel went and shook hands with the fans before leaving.  As she departed the stage, the ring crew came out with parts to assemble the steel cage for the final event of the night.  As the cage was being assembled, we are interrupted by ‘the Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher and says that the newest additions to his stable are here and we will see them at the PPV.  He laughs and walks off as the fans boo him.

The cage is assembled and we are ready to begin.  First, Roderick Rothchild comes out with his manager the Ambassador and the duo are booed as they make their way to the steel structure.  Roderick climbs in to the cage and awaits his opponent.  Next, we hear the ringing of a bell and out comes ‘the King of Cones’ Magnum Kone.  Magnum comes out with just a small selection of frozen treats and they are gone by the time he reached the ring.  Magnum proceeds to enter the cage but the Ambassador runs behind him and slams the cage door on him.  Magnum falls into the ring and Roderick begins to wail on him.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #764 – Phoenix Heat (04/15) – Go Home Show (last PH show before the PPV)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  We cut right to the chase and the show begins back in the office of GM Master Bull.  Master Bull says that due to the additional injuries sustained at the hands of a masked man, Leon Teremoto is not fit for the match at the PPV against US Champion Anthony Boom and says that on PPV day 2, they will hold a battle royal and the winner of that will be the one who gets the title shot against Anthony Boom on day 3.  It’s a tough break for Leon.

Pyro goes off and our show kicks off.  First, 5th Column member Oswald Zimmerman comes out to booing from the fans.  They change their tune a few moments later when his opponent Leiton Snake makes his way out to a decent reaction from the crowd.  He gets in the ring and the match begins seconds later.  Oswald actually managed to control the tempo of the match and it wasn’t until the very end that Leiton began to make a comeback.  Oswald began to choke Leiton to further delay his comeback attempt.  He then turned and began to insult the crowd.  As soon as he turned around, Leiton hit him with a buckle bomb but the bell rang signaling the end of the match before he could go for the pin.  The match ends in a draw however the remaining 5th Column members Karl Braun and Baron von Blood ran out to attack Leiton but the remaining members of the Snake Pit (Tobias & Niven Snake) rushed out to even the odds.  The 2 teams then battled all the way to the back.  (20 min draw)

The Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel) are backstage and they see Master Bull.  They tell him that Biceps isn’t there tonight but they want a match.  Bull tells them they have a lot of tag matches already on the card so the Curtain will be wrestling in singles matches.  Buzz and Starbuck look at each other and simultaneously say “Word”.

The next match is ready to go.  First, the lights dim and then out comes Wilber Townsend carrying a single lantern.  He makes his way down and into the ring as the fans boo him.  Once in the ring, he extinguishes the lantern and the lights come up.  Next, Buzz Steel makes his way out and the fans pop for him.  He gets into the ring and Wilber tries to attack him before the bell but Buzz catches him and Wilber backs off and laughs.  Buzz gets in the first shot but then Wilber took over for 10 minutes.  Buzz would hit the Buzz Cut and that gave him back control of the match.  The two would continue to trade power shots all the way to the time limit.  Another one ends in a draw finish.  Wilber was first to leave but as soon as he did, Tommy Lightning rushed in from the crowd and attacked Buzz.  Starbuck came out right away and chased Tommy off.  The brothers shake hands.  Starbuck says his match is next so he’ll just stay out here and wait for his opponent.  (20 min draw)

The next match begins almost immediately with Starbuck already in the ring.  5th Column member Baron von Blood came out for the match and is immediately booed.  It’s announced that a special guest referee will be hanging outside the ring to prevent any outside interference.  The Wicked Prophet comes out to a pop from the crowd.  He remains on the outside to thwart any interference.  The Baron got in some early shots but Starbuck eventually got control of the match.  Once again, Tommy Lightning showed up and as he approached the ring, the Wicked Prophet was there to cut him off and send him to the back.  As the Prophet turned to head back to the ring, he is attacked from behind by Hardcore Champion Apollo Gyze.  The two then fight all the way to the back.  Starbuck and Baron continue to fight in the ring and much to our surprise, another match goes to a 20 minute draw.  Starbuck just finished bouncing Baron’s head off all the corner turnbuckles and Baron dropped to the mat.  It is shocking that we’ve now had 3 matches all back to back end in draw finishes.  Starbuck leaves and Baron makes it to his feet but he is soon greeted by all 3 members of the Snake Pit.  The three brothers put their fists together and then begin to pummel Baron.  Each hit their ending moves on him and then left to a pop from the crowd.

The Jacks are backstage and they complain that the champs aren’t here and since they are not allowed to retaliate, they say that they want to beat up someone tonight as they are not allowed to come near the “precious” tag team champs.  GM Master Bull says he will find a team to meet them.

We go back to the ring for our next match.  First, Otto Ruthless comes out to booing from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and then the royal music plays and out comes ‘Red Hot’ King Lucas Johnston makes his way out to a huge pop from the crowd.  King Lucas climbs up on the apron but Otto is there and knocks him to the floor.  Otto goes after him, stomping and punching and then rolls the King back into the ring.  King Lucas immediately battled back and began to own Otto.  Just then, Ned Rhyerson III comes out to distract King Lucas.  He stops, baffled by the appearance of his PPV opponent and as soon as he turned around, Otto hit him with the Ruthless Aggression.  Otto goes for the cover and hooks the leg (and puts his foot on the ropes for leverage) and gets the 3 count.  Otto steals a win and the fans boo the crap out of him.  Ned laughs from the outside.  Otto tries to jaw jack with Lucas but the King starts throwing lefts and rights and sends Otto to the ropes and then hurls him over the top rope and right on to Ned.  The fans pop as King Lucas stands tall and Otto and Ned pick themselves up and grumble as they make their way to the back.  The Red Hot King makes his way to the back shortly thereafter.  (9 min)

Backstage, Roderick Rothchild and Dr. Red Fang are pushing people around but they stop when they are approached by the US Champion Anthony Boom and the King of Cones Magnum Kone.  Kone stands up to Roderick and says that the two of them will meet at the PPV but if they’re itching for a match, he and Boom would be happy to oblige.  Fang snarls and he and Roderick head to the ring.  Boom says “Well, I guess we got ourselves a match.” Magnum nods.

The Ambassador comes out first and introduces first Roderick Rothchild.  The fans boo but the noise increases when we hear “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE” and out comes the evil vampire bot Dr. Red Fang.  Fang comes out snarling and growling at the fans and Roderick shows the fans how to count but only sticks with one.  They get in the ring and after some jaw jacking with the fans, the music changes and first out comes the US Champion Anthony ‘Static’ Boom. Boom stands on stage and then jumps in the air and when he lands, the cannons sound with dual “BOOMS”.  Following that, we hear the familiar ringing of a bell that means the ice cream cart is making its way out pushed by none other than the King of Cones Magnum Kone.    Magnum and Anthony make their way down to the ring.  Anthony actually helped distribute the ice cream treats to the kids at ringside.  They deplete their stash and then climb into the ring.  Dr. Red Fang starts off attacking Anthony and hits him with the Skull Crusher.  He then tagged out to Roderick who came in and shoved Magnum off the apron.  He then took Anthony down with a single leg take down (an ACTUAL wrestling move).  He then turns and showboats in front of the fans.  Roderick takes Anthony down again with another leg take down but Magnum takes a swing at Roderick who backs up and ends up tripping over Anthony.  Anthony then locked in a Figure Four leglock.  Magnum first took out the Ambassador and Dr. Red Fang and turned his attention back to the match.   Roderick struggled and got his hands on the ropes but Magnum knocked them off.  Roderick then had no choice and then tapped out.  Anthony and Magnum get the win via submission in only 3 minutes.  Fang rushes into the ring with a chair but Anthony and Magnum bolt and laugh at the two as they make it up the ramp and the fans cheer them all the way.  Fang and Rothchild stew a little longer and then leave.

For the main event, Mean Jack Mason and Angry Jack Lawson come out and hit the ring.  Mean Jack gets on the mic and calls out GM Master Bull.  Bull comes out.  Mason complains about wanting to know who their opponents are.  Bull says that he could not find a team to meet them.  Mason laughs and calls Bull incompetent.   Bull corrects himself and says that he couldn’t find a “team” but he found two individuals who are more than happy to team up for the main event.  Bull points to the back and the fans pop as the TV Champion Davis ‘the Hoff’ Hoffmeister and Drew the Canadian Love Machine come out.  The noise was deafening.  Two of the biggest fan favorites (and opponents at the PPV) team together for one night.  They make their way to the ring.  They manage to get the crowd psyched up before the Jacks went into action going after the fan favorites.  After the first minutes, Mean Jack gets tagged in and goes to town.  Angry Jack is tagged in and after a huge dropkick, Davis tags Drew in.  Lawson tries for an eye rake but Drew nullifies it and tags Davis back in.  Davis hits Lawson with a piledriver and goes for the pin but Angry Jack kicks out at one.  The Omegatron lighs up and it’s the Tag Team Champions Scooter J and TNT. They laugh at the Jacks and hold up two dolls that look like the Jacks but are dressed in drag.  Mean Jack jumps off the apron and yells at the tv which is pretty funny in itself.  Davis then hits Angry Jack with a flying dropkick.  Davis makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  Mean Jack hears the bell and realizes he’s been duped.  He rushes back into the ring but Davis and Drew leave.  The show comes to an end with Davis and Drew leaving to a huge pop from the crowd and leaving the Jacks standing in the ring all alone.

The Hall of Fame ceremony is up next.  Stay tuned.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #763 – Tacoma Thunder (04/14) – Go Home Show (last TT show before PPV)

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  Tonight is what we call the “Go Home” show…it is the final Tacoma house show before the PPV this weekend.  Tomorrow, Phoenix Heat has theirs and then its Hall of Fame time followed by a 3 day PPV extravaganza called Critical Mass.

The show begins with fog filling up the ring.

The loudspeaker blares “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLO----scrrrripppzchk!”

Fog continues to fills the arena. The lights go out. A funky techno beat breaks the silence. Mass confusion from the crowd.

Loudspeaker “APOLLO GYZE DON’T”

Strobe lights. An unknown character floats down from the rafters into the ring.

Loudspeakers “APOLLO GYZE”

Fog clears. The unknown character lands gracefully.

Loudspeakers “APOLLO”

A spotlight reveals the unknown character to be Wicked Prophet.

WP grabs a mic and says “Apollo Gyze don’t RECOGNIZE.”  The crowd pops huge.

WP: “Apollo, you have paid great attention to my career. You realize I am a threat. You don’t recognize what consequences you face. No more will I play nice guy with you. Wrath is about to consume your flesh. I pity you.”

Loudspeaker blares “WICKED PROPHET TESTIFIES”

BOOM! A burst of smoke shoots from the spot WP stands on, and then he vanishes.

Crowd goes wild.

Now THAT is how you start a show.  Pyro goes off and it seems we are ready to get this party started.

The first match of the card begins with Maximillian Redbeard coming out first to a pop from the crowd.  He is accompanied by his tag team partner Superquake Ferguson.  The two interact with the fans on their way to the ring.  After a moment, the music changes and out comes Nix Anderson and his ukulele. He gets a mixed reaction from the crowd.  He ignores the fans and gets into the ring. He lays the musical instrument on the apron in the corner and starts stretching for his match.  For the first few minutes of the match, Nix and Redbeard were pretty equal but then Maximillian started going to town on Mr. Anderson and totally dominated him.  11 minutes into the match, Redbeard hit Nix with the Mac Attack but a commotion started by Shawn ‘Abs of Stone’ Austin and Perfect Pecs Stoddard coming out to attack Superquake Ferguson.  Maximillian took his eyes off of Nix for a split moment and when he turned around, Nix hit him with the ukulele (the ref of course didn’t see it).  Nix goes for the pin and gets the 3 count.  Nix is victorious in his match leading up to his PPV encounter.  Nix leaves all smug and the fans boo him.  (12 min)  Superquake is joined by Maximillian and they fight off Austin and Stoddard.  Maximillian gets on the mic and challenges them to a match at the PPV.  Austin and Pecs accept.  It looks like another match is locked in.

There is a commotion backstage when Ladies Champion Ruby Rose attacked Violet Valkyrie.  Hayley Hailstorm rushed in for the save and that pissed Ruby off.  Ruby said that Hayley has stuck her nose in one too many times and challenged her to a match tonight.  Hayley said that if she defeats Ruby, she wants to be the automatic #1 contender after Violet.  Ruby agreed.

We are back at the ring and Bishop Ripley comes out first.  He gets a mixed reaction from the fans but once he gets into the ring, the music changes and out comes his opponent Texas Wildfire.  TW gets a huge pop from the crowd and he shakes hands with them as he makes his way down to the ring.  He gets in and climbs one of the corner turnbuckles to a massive pop from the crowd.  The match kicks off and TW owns this one completely letting Bishop get 5 offensive moves in while dominating the match.  TW locked in a standing arm bar and went for a pin but Bishop kicked out at 2.  TW locked in a headlock and followed it up with another standing arm bar.  He went for the pin and this time, he got it.  Texas Wildfire gets the win.  The fans pop for him but his celebration is cut short when Matches Malone rushed out and attacked him.  TW managed to fight Malone off but Matches hit a low blow before leaving. Malone laughed all the way to the back.  TW recovers and makes it backstage under his own power.  (12 min)

Back in the interview area, the Ambassador is with Dr. Red Fang.  The Ambassador says that the Tacoma roster was scared and wondered if anyone in Phoenix was up to the challenge.  He doubts it but is holding out hope.

We head to the ring for our next match.  First, Matches Malone makes his way out and he’s chewing on a match stick.  He begins flicking matchsticks at the fans getting them all riled up.  He laughs at their anger.  He gets in the ring and soaks in the booing sent his way.  The music changes and the fans pop for the Axe as he makes his way out and down to the ring.  He climbs in over the top rope and stands a good foot taller.   As soon as the match began, Axe controlled the entire thing from start to finish.  As much as he tried though, he could not keep Malone down for a 3 count.  At the 15 minute mark, Axe drops Malone with the Axe but an appearance by Nix Anderson threw him off his game.  Nix walks down to the ring with another ukulele and threatened to hit Axe with it.  Axe took a swing at him and Nix retaliated with a shot from the ukulele.  The ref immediately called for the bell and said that Axe gets the win via a DQ.  Nix gets into the ring and begins stomping on Axe and ending with the Acoustic Equalizer.  Nix stands over Axe laughing but then eventually leaves.  (16 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher is backstage with Vanilla Zombie.  Preacher says he wasn’t allowed at ringside for Vanilla’s last match and look at where that got her.  Tonight, he’s in her corner and things will definitely be changing for the better.

Our next match is ready to go.  First, Superquake Ferguson comes out to a pop from the crowd.  Missing is Ferguson’s tag team partner Maximillian Redbeard.  Hmm, wonder why he’s not here.  Ferguson gets into the ring stepping over the top rope.  He holds his fist high in the air and the fans pop.  Their tone changes when his former tag team champion and now enemy Angry Jack Lawson comes out.  Jack makes his way down to the ring and as he enters the ring, the lights begin to dim.  Angry Jack raises both arms and then thrusts them down and the four ringposts spit out fire from their tops.  Lawson and Superquake begin slugging it out with Ferguson just beating the holy hell out of Jack.   Jack got in a few shots but his anger was not enough to thwart the power from Ferguson.  At the 15 minute mark, Superquake locked Jack up in a bearhug; not to go for a submission but to wear Jack out.  All it took was an eye rake later and Superquake gets a pin.  Ferguson gets the win but it is short lived as Mean Jack Mason came out and he and Angry Jack began double teaming Ferguson until Maximillian Redbeard came out wielding a chair.  He chased the Jacks out of the ring and stood with his tag team partner.  The ref raises Superquake’s arm one more time and the fans pop for him.   (16 min)

GM Max McGillicutty is back in his office and he informs us of some late breaking news.  He says that in addition to all the great matches the PPV will have, one additional is being added in the form of an all woman’s battle royal.  He says that the winner of the battle royal will get a money in the bank contract for a title match any time within 6 months.  The fans pop for the announcement.

Our next match is up with Lavender Gooms making her way out to the ring first to a small pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes Vanilla Zombie and her manager ‘the Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher.  The duo are booed as they make their way down to the ring.  Vanilla goes right on the attack hitting the Soul Crusher and a chokeslam (followed by a pin attempt but a 1 count).  Lavender tried for the Lavender Lock but Matt Preacher blew a powder into her eyes blinding her.  Lavender clears her vision and hits an electric chair drop but Vanilla drops her with a piledriver.  Vanilla doesn’t attempt a pin but waits for Lavender to get back to her feet.  Big mistake.  Lavender locks in the Lavender Lock but Preacher wasn’t close enough to do much more than slug the referee causing the disqualification.  Lavender Gooms gets the DQ win.  Vanilla hits Lavender with another chokeslam and the Soul Crusher.  Before she could do any more, Hayley Hailstone ran down and chased Vanilla out of the ring and all the way to the back.  (5 min)

World Tag Team Champions Scooter J and TNT show up and hang out on stage.  They call out the Jacks but instead, two drag queens come out wearing something that looks like it came out of a Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland movie.   The drag queens state they want nothing to do with the champs and are quaking in their boots.  They leave.  The fans get a good chuckle at the segment.  Scooter J says the Jacks will rue the day they tangled with him and TNT.  They then leave.

It is time now for our main event.  First, Hayley Hailstone comes out to a huge pop from the crowd.  She makes her way down to the ring and enters.  She climbs one of the turnbuckles to a loud pop from the fans.  Her music is cut short when the Ladies Champion Ruby Rose comes out.  She is wearing her title but since the belt is not on the line here, she lays it out on the stage and heads down to the ring.  She begins jaw jacking with Hayley once in the ring and goes right on the offensive once the bell sounds.  The two women were pretty evenly matched but things started getting off when Violet Valkyrie came out.  She tried yelling at Ruby in an attempt to distract her.  Ruby stopped and grabbed the ref dragging him over and demanding that he send Violet back to the pit of despair she came from.  The ref sent Violet to the back.  While that was going on, Vanilla Zombie came in from the crowd and attacked Hayley.  She dropped the energetic youngster on the floor with multiple chokeslams.  She then rolled Hayley back in and disappeard in the crowd.   Hayley managed to hit a lifting reverse S.T.O. but Ruby countered with a Spit Mist of Transformation.  He rolled Hayley up and with both a handful of tights and her feet on the ropes, she stole a win.  Ruby Rose gets the win and declares that there is no way in hell that Hayley gets a title shot at her title.   Hayley began trembling and then exploded in flying fury just pummeling the champion.  Hayley hit the What the Hail before Ruby bailed out of the ring.  She ran up the ramp, grabbed her belt and turned back only once before disappearing behind the curtain.  The fans give Hayley a nice loud pop to end the show.  Hayley stayed and interacted with the fans before departing.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2019 #762 – Phoenix Heat (04/10)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.  We are in endgame as we head towards next week’s PPV Critical Mass.  We know there will be a lot of feuds that need resolution and that is expected to reach fruition.

The show begins with a backstage commotion as Leon Teremoto is attacked by a masked man (maybe the one who’s been seen lurking in the shadows).  The masked man continues to attack Leon’s leg that was hurt in his match against Anthony Boom.  Finally security runs over and the masked man takes off.  US Champion Anthony Boom was first on the scene and he called for medics.  Leon is not looking good.

Pyro goes off and our first match of the night is ready to go.  First, the carny music hits and out comes the Muscles Trio.  Weasley, McGuire and Thorpe come out to a pop from the crowd.  They are wearing their rainbow colored bull horns and carrying their precious boxes of ‘Booty O’s’ cereal.  Thorpe walks over to a fan and hands him a bowl and then pours some cereal into it.   The Trio enter the ring and begin to psyche up the fans.  The music changes and out comes their opponents the 5th Column.  Baron von Blood, Oswald Zimmerman and Karl Braun begin making their way down to the ring.  Karl stops and slaps the bowl of cereal out of the fan’s hands and laughs.  The Column enter the ring to a chorus of boos.  The Column immediately attack.  The Trio fought back and held the advantage for the first 3 minutes of the match but then the Column triple teamed them over and over and just causing mayhem all over the place.  At the 23 minute mark, Baron von Blood pulled Weasley form the ring and dropped him with a spinebuster on the floor.  At the same time, Karl took Thorpe to the floor introducing him to the steel post.  That left Oswald in the ring with McGuire.  He hit McGuire with the Flatliner but then began choking him.  He then made the cover and got the uncontested 3 count.  The 5th Column are victorious heading into the PPV feud with the Snake Pit. (24 min)

The Ambassador issues a challenge for anyone to face Dr. Red Fang at the PPV.  He says that no one in Tacoma is brave enough and wonders if anyone in Phoenix is stupid enough to accept.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, Tommy Lightning comes out with the Smashers and they make their way down to the ring to a chorus of boos.  In the ring, Tommy shows the fans what they can do with their responses.  The music changes and out comes the Snake Pit.  Leiton, Niven and Tobias Snake come out to a pop from the crowd and make their way down to the ring.  They are feet away before the 5th Column rushes out and ambushes them.  Tommy is in the ring laughing.   Security comes out and breaks it up and asks the Pit if they want to continue and they said YES which surprised the hell out of Tommy.  Tommy backed off and said that he’d let the Smashers handle this one.  For the first 3 minutes, everything was pretty evenly matched but then the Smashers and Tommy began multiple triple teaming and wore the Pit down.  The longer the match went on though, the more the Pit seemed to be getting a second wind.  22 minutes into the match, Leiton hits Tommy with a Pedigree Facebuster and goes for the pin but Smasher #2 makes the save.  Niven is tagged in.  Tommy catches him with a front chancery and goes for a pin but Niven powers out at 1.  Tommy connects with a leg drop and Niven nails a Samoan slam.  The Steel Curtain sneak in from the crowd and take out both members of the Smashers before sneaking back through the crowd.  Niven tags Leiton back in who sizes Tommy up and hits a Curb Stomp.  Leiton makes the cover, and with no one to make the save, he gets the 3 count.  The Snake Pit are victorious despite the earlier attack.  Tobias gets on the mic and tells the Column they are days away from an ass-kicking.  The three men put the fists together and then leave.  (28 min)

Backstage, the Ambassador warns every one of the ferocity of Dr. Red Fang and they’d all be better tucking their tails between their legs and scampering off.  “Leon Teremoto is a perfect example of someone sticking their nose into business that is not theirs.  I’m not saying Fang attacked him but he deserved it anyway.”

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, Vanilla Zombie comes out (minus her manager ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher but she is accompanied by ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito. The fans boo as they make their way down to the ring.  The music changes and out comes Tempest Fortune.  Tempest remains on the stage as Maxine beckons her to come to the ring.  Tempest holds up a finger and then points to the curtains and out comes Hayley Hailstone.  The fans pop huge as the duo begin to walk to the ring.  Tempest slides in and Maxine bails.  The bell rings moments later and this one is off to the races.  Two minutes in, Maxine attempts to trip Tempest and after stumbling, Vanilla hits Tempest with a chokeslam.  She goes for the pin but Tempest kicks out.  Hayley then starts to chase Maxine around the ring but eventually stops.   9 minutes in, Maxine hands Vanilla a foreign object which she used on Tempest.  Hayley and enough and chased Maxine but this time she caught her and threw her into the crowd and chased her form the ring.  Vanilla hits a headbutt but then was caught up by the distraction that she didn’t see Tempest recover.  Tempest gets up and turns Vanilla around and hits a devastating DDT.  Tempest makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  Tempest Fortune gets the win.  Vanilla rolls out of the ring and makes her way to the back.  Tempest celebrates with the fans briefly before leaving.  (10 min)

The Ragin Cajun Rad Gumbo is backstage and he looks like a man on a mission.

Wilber Townsend, Otto Ruthless and Talon McFrost are in the interview area.  Wilber says that the time has come and tonight, they walk out as the 6 Man Tag Team Champs.  He has defeated both members of the Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman on his own.  With the collective power of Otto, Talon and himself, they will be victorious.  Otto says the action in the ring will be violent and Ruthless.  Talon adds that the Steel Curtain and Biceps will be on the cold side tonight as they won’t have their belts to keep them warm.  Wilber looks at the camera and says “Follow the buzzards, boys…follow the buzzards.”

We go back to the ring for more tag team action.  First, visiting from Tacoma are the Regulators – Mule and Mammoth.  They get a small pop from the crowd.  Next, the Ambassador comes out and introduces first – ‘Rowdy’ Roderick Rothchild.  Once Roderick was on stage, the Ambassador pointed upwards and we hear “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE!” and out comes the evil Dr. Red Fang.  The Ambassador then claims that this will be a No DQ match.  Fang and Rothchild run down to the ring and immediately attack the Regulators.  9 minutes in, we hear a chime over the loudspeakers and out comes ‘the King of Cones’ Magnum Kone.  Roderick immediately leaves the ring and he and Magnum brawl.  Magnum hurls Roderick hard into the steel steps.  The Ambassador is speechless.  The Regulators then hit Fang with a double Regulator Smash.  Mammoth makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  The Regulators get the win and the fans pop for them.  (12 min)

Backstage, the 6 Man Tag Team Champions The Steel Curtain and Biceps Bannerman are being interviewed.  Starbuck thinks it’s cute that Wilber and his cronies feel they have a shot.  Buzz tells him that he shouldn’t call them cute as they are ugly as f**k!  DAMN, did he just say that?  Biceps says that it doesn’t matter what they are, one thing that they will not be are the champions.

Our next match is ready to go.  First, Terra Ryzing makes his way out and he is booed.  He paces in the ring waiting for his opponent.  The loudspeakers blare “GUMBO 7:30 MEANS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” and out comes the Ragin Cajun Rad Gumbo and his manager Ms. Alexandria.  Gumbo surprisingly gets a pop from the crowd.   The bell rings and both men begin slugging it out.  Terra hits a low blow and then takes control for the first 9 minutes of the match.  Rad exited the ring and consulted with his manager.  After a brief consultation, he got back in and then owned Terra.  However, it didn’t matter what he hit him with, Terra kept kicking out of all pin attempts.  Finally, we entered the final minute of the ring and Rad hit Terra with the Bourbon Street Blues.  He went for a pin and after the ref counted to 1, the bell rang signaling the time limit was reached.  The ref calls the match a draw and Terra rolled out.  Rad was getting ready to leave when in from the audience ran the World Champion the Banker and he blasted Rad with his briefcase knocking him down.  The Banker then started beating Rad over the head with the briefcase bloodying him up.  The ref finally got him to break off his attack.  The Banker stood over Gumbo holding the briefcase in one hand and his World title in the other.  Eventually he left.  Gumbo was helped to his feet but he made it to the back on his own.  (20 min draw; 5 min for the aftermath)

The Jacks make their way down to the ring and are carrying something with them…hang on, it’s the little people they had pretending to be Scooter J and TNT.  The Jacks then said that this is what will happen to the champions at the PPV and proceeded to beat the holy hell out of their victims.  DAMN IT MAN, THEY HAVE FAMILIES!  Finally, a bunch of ‘shirts’ from the back came out and helped the little people out of the ring.  Master Bull came out on stage and said that in the 80’s this may have been funny but today, it is totally inappropriate.  He will not cancel the tag match at the PPV but effective immediately, they both are off of television (here and Tacoma) until the PPV.  Bull then sends a squad of security to the ring to escort the Jacks out of the building.

It’s time for the main event.  First, the lights go dim and Wilber Townsend makes his way out carrying a single lantern.  He waits on the stage and is joined by Otto Ruthless and Talon McFrost.  The trio head down to the ring and they are booed pretty heavily.  They get in the ring and wait for their opponents.  The music changes and out comes the 6 Man Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain (Buzz and Starbuck Steel) and Biceps Bannerman.  The fans pop huge for them.  The match begins and Biceps gets a near fall after flattening Talon with a spinebuster.  He gets a two count and tags in Starbuck.  Talon begins to unload on Starbuck but he manages to tag Biceps back in. Wilber gets tagged in and Biceps hits him with a full nelson lift and slam.  He goes for the pin and gets a 2 count.  Everyone then hits the ring for 2 minutes slugging it out.  The ref finally gets the match back under control.  Starbuck and Otto get tagged in.  They trade blows and Biceps is back in.  After some more triple teaming by the champs, we noticed that Buzz Steel was nursing a bum knee.  This would explain his lack of involvement in this match.  Starbuck and Biceps kept fresh with constant tags.  After getting tagged back in, Starbuck bounces Otto’s head off of each of the corner turnbuckles.  Otto struggled to stand and Starbuck hit him with the Out of This World dropkick.  He makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  The champs retain and hold their titles high.  The show comes to an end as they celebrate with the fans.
