HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2018 #719 – Tacoma Thunder

Hello fans and welcome back to the next installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Today’s show comes to you from Tacoma, WA in our final stop before Wednesday’s House of Horrors PPV in Phoenix, AZ.  Today, we will actually have 3 Elimination Chamber qualifying matches with one being from visiting Heat members.   We will also have two title matches that will see the Hardcore and Tag Team titles defended tonight.  So without further ado, let’s get the action started.

Pyro goes off and our first Elimination Chamber qualifying match is ready to go.  First, TV Champion Nix Anderson comes out accompanied by his manager ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher.  They are booed as they head down to the ring.  Anderson is quick to grab a mic and say that his title is NOT on the line.  Next, the music changes and out comes Protocide.  He gets a pop as he heads down to the ring.  He gets in and right into Nix’s face.  The champ actually took a step back from the muscle bound masked man.  The bell rings and Nix immediately distracts the ref allowing Preacher to bludgeon Protocide with a foreign object.   Nix goes for the quick pin but Protocide kicks out.  Protocide connects with an elbow smash but Nix drags his opponents face across the ring ropes.  After a couple of minutes, Preacher gets involved again.  Protocide was going for an elbow smash but Nix reversed it and hurled him into the ropes where Preacher threw a powder in his face.  Blinded, he fell back into the ring.  Nix went for the pin again but still only got a 2 count.  Nix continued to dominate the match until Protocide locked him up for a test of strength but a low blow kick from Nix broke the hold and Nix blasted Protocide with a smash from his ukulele.  He went for the pin and this time, grabbed a handful of tights and got the 1-2-3.  Nix Anderson gets the win and Protocide will be going into the chamber.  (9 min)

Phoenix GM Master Bull walks in and greets the Tacoma roster.  He then heads into GM Max McGillicutty’s office.

We head to the ring for our next Elimination Chamber qualifier.  First, Sarona Reiher comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.   Their tune changes when smoke fills the stage and like a rocket, out comes Violet Valkyrie.  The fans pop as Violet rushes down to the ring and slides under the bottom rope.  As she climbs the turnbuckle, the fans pop.  The match started pretty quick and Violet held the advantage until she got tossed over the top rope and landed hard on the outside.  Sarona went after her throwing her into the ringside barrier and steps before taking her back into the ring. Sarona dominated for only a few minutes before Violet got a second wind and began to take the fight back to her opponent.  Violet began going on a serious offensive run but then she was distracted when Vanilla Zombie came through the crowd.  Distracted, she didn’t see Sarona come up from behind and then plant her into the mat with a huge powerbomb.  Sarona went for the pin and got the 3 count.  The fans are shocked as it will be Violet heading into the chamber.  Sarona leaves and Violet gets to her feet shaking the cobwebs out of her head. Vanilla then attacks her locking her up on a very painful submission move.  Violet is tapping out but this isn’t a match.  Vanilla’s manager Matt Preacher joins her in the ring and gets her to relent.  Preacher says that in 3 days, Violet will be tapping out once again to the superior athlete that is Vanilla Zombie.  The fans boo and they leave.  Violet is helped to the back.  (15 min)

Backstage, ‘Big Money’ Ned Rhyerson III runs into Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  Ned laughs at the memory of him beating Drew in such quick fashion.  Drew tells Ned to put his money where his mouth is and challenges him to a match tonight.  Ned says that if Drew wants to get beat again, he’d be happy to oblige.   Ned walks away.

Our third Elimination Chamber qualifier match is up and features two ladies from the Phoenix Heat roster.  First, out comes Leslie Grimes who gets a decent pop from the crowd.   Next, her opponent Taylor Bella comes out to booing from the fans.  Taylor has a mic in hand and blasts Tacoma calling it a cesspool.  This got the fans even more riled up.  Taylor finished with “Well, if you get all wound up after a little insult, how mad are you going to be when I win tonight?”  The fans booed even louder.  Taylor controlled the match for the most part for the first 12 minutes of the match but then Leslie fought back and began to own the former Diva’s Champion.  In fact, Leslie began pounding the hell out of Taylor much to the delight of the fans.  After the 20^th minute, Leslie owned Taylor going for pin attempt after pin attempt but the former champ kept kicking out or making it to the ropes.  As the match progressed and the time limit was nearing, Leslie hit a Lou Thesz press (2 count) followed by an Australian uppercut (1 count).  Taylor then tried for a sitout facebuster but Leslie fought out of it and planted Taylor in the middle of the ring with a DDT.  She went for a pin and this time was able to get the 3 count.  Welp, it looks like Taylor is going to the Chamber.  Once she recovered, she didn’t seem too happy and the fans mocked her as she made her way to the back.  (27 min)

Back in Max’s office, Bull and Max are sitting with the Wicked Prophet.  The GM’s state that they’re not happy the Prophet is taking on matchmaking duties but since King Rad Gumbo gave him the option to pick the World Champs next opponent, they said they would allow it.  They ask WP who he wants as Gumbo’s next opponent and after some brief contemplation, he chooses ‘The King of Cones’ Magnum Kone.  Max and Bull seem impressed and says that match will happen.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, out comes ‘Big Money’ Ned Rhyerson III and the fans boo the holy hell out of him.  He flips them off and gets into the ring.  Next, Drew the Canadian Love Machine comes out and the place goes absolutely bonkers.  Ned doesn’t seem to care for it so just as Drew was getting into the ring, Ned attacked him taking the fight to the outside.  He threw Drew into the steel steps and then removed the ringside padding and bodyslammed Drew on the exposed concrete before rolling him back in.  The bell rings and Drew is at a serious disadvantage.  Ned dominated for 12 minutes but then Drew got his second win and just like the champ we know him to be, began to utterly destroy Ned.   At the 16 minute mark, Drew hit the Lover Bomb and almost got the 3 count but Ned got his foot on the ropes to stop the count in the nick of time.  Drew connected with a superkick but Ned hit an elbow smash.  Drew connects with a powerbomb for another near fall but Ned kicked out.  Ned stumbled to his feet and then Drew began laying into him with a series of slaps.  The fans counted up to 10 of the cringe-worthy sickening sounds and Ned fell to the mat.  Drew made the cover and got no resistance as the 3 count is made.  Drew gets the win and the fans pop even louder than before.  Drew celebrates with the fans as Ned makes his way to the back.  (19 min)

Backstage, the Wicked Prophet is with the man challenging for the Hardcore title Ivan Dragovich.  Ivan gets all mad at WP wondering why he wasn’t chosen to face King Rad Gumbo for the World Title.  The Wicked Prophet said that Ivan has is hands full with not only a match for the Hardcore title but with an upcoming match against ‘the Hoff’ Davis Hoffmeister.  Ivan says he excels at multitasking and will defeat Hensen tonight for his belt and then put Davis back in the hospital so bad he’ll never want to return.

Also backstage, Elitism (‘The Elitist’ Reid Rothchild and ‘Rowdy’ Roderick Rothchild) confront the Axe and Superstar Chic Monroe.  They say that they are supposed to be next in line for a title match but Axe tells him “Too bad, you snooze, you lose”.  Axe then decks Reid and an all-out melee ensues.  GMs Max McGillicutty and Master Bull come over and demand to know what is going on.  It is disclosed that the Axe threw the first punch even though Reid was taunting him.  Bull then says that Axe just cost his team their title shot tonight.  Axe tried to complain but Bull tells him he’s fortunate that he doesn’t lose their shot altogether.  Axe leaves and Chic follows.

Well, it seems our tag team title match has changed.  The Ambassador comes out first and leads Reid and Roderick down to the ring. The fans boo as they showboat in the ring.  The music changes and out comes the World Tag Team Champions the Mexicali Flyers (El Dragon Insano & Tornado en Fuego).  The fans pop as the champs shake hands with the fans as they make their way to the ring.  The bell rings pretty quick and Elitism takes the fight to the champs right off the bat.  With the Ambassador’s help, for the first 7 minutes, the challengers dominated but then Tornado en Fuego took the sneaky manager out of the equation and then the champs began a comeback.  Backed by the fans, it was like they could go all the way.  12 minutes in, an exhausted Tornado en Fuego tagged El Dragon in.  While Reid distracted the ref, Roderick ran over and knocked Tornado from the ring.  He then handcuffed him to the ringside barrier.  He then picked up a chair and smashed it into El Dragon’s leg.  Reid immediately capitalized and locked in the Figure Four Reid Lock.  El Dragon tried to make it to the ropes but Roderick would pull them both back into the center of the ring.  With no one to help and after a minute of being locked in the painful hold, El Dragon had no choice but to tap out.  Elitism gets the win and becomes the NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!  (14 min) 

Their celebration is short lived however when GM Master Bull comes out and lets Elitism know that before they get to go home, they will have to defend the titles here tonight against these men.  The Axe and Superstar Chic Monroe rush out and the bell rings just as they entered the ring.  The new champs were pretty worn out from their previous match and that allowed the new challengers to take control of the match.  It seemed like the titles could have changed hands again but a last minute intervention from the Ambassador (wielding a chair) hit the Axe with it causing him to stumble.  Roderick grabbed him and nailed an airplane spin.  After dropping him, Roderick went for the pin and put his feet on the second rope for leverage.  The ref didn’t catch it and counted 1-2-3.  Elitism not only win the match but are successful in their first title defense.  The champs and their manager leave before any ‘instant replay’ would put their win in jeopardy.   (12 min)  The Axe and Chic left disappointed.

Backstage, the Wicked Prophet is with the Hardcore Champion Hardcore Hensen.

WP:  I’m here with the Hardcore Hensen.   How’s it going champ?

HH:  How’s it going?  What are you, a teeny bopper?  Do you see this title I’m carrying?  I am the HARDCORE Champion.  This means I am the toughest person in this sport.  I’m the meanest guy you’d never want to meet in a dark alley.

WP:  Tonight, you defend your title against Ivan Dragovich, a tough competitor in his own right.

HH:  He’s not tough, he’s soft and I’ll prove it.  You can’t be all that good when you lose to an ex-cowboy (referring to Davis Hoffmeister).

WP:  And after this, not only do you have a future match with Protocide, at the PPV in 3 short days, you take on Scooter J and TNT alongside your tag team partner the TV champion Nix Anderson.

HH:  More crap we have to deal with.  First this Russkie thinks he deserves a shot at my title; some masked moron paid for plastic surgery to look like someone from my past and finally we have to deal with Scooby Doo and Scrappy. 

WP:  You mean Scooter J and TNT.

HH:  I meant what I said.  Scooby Doo, you should have just stayed in the hospital and called it quits.  Now you get to deal with the fallout that Nix and I will inflict on you.  If you think you’re last stay in the hospital was bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Hardcore Hensen walks away.  The Wicked Prophet turns to the camera “Back to you at ringside”.

It’s time for our main event.  First, Ivan Dragovich comes out and the fans boo him.  He’s just not a very likable person.  Next, the Hardcore Champion Hardcore Hensen comes out with his manager ‘the Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher but Preacher remains on the stage as he is not allowed at ringside for this match.  The match, a street fight, should have favored the champion but Ivan was all over him.  The two traded control of the entire match that went a full 30 minutes.  Towards the end, Ivan began to own the champ and Hensen struggled.  He then called for help and Nix Anderson came out.  Since this is a no DQ match, Nix tried to interfere but the ref stopped him and sent him from the ring.  While that was going on, we see someone come in from the crowd.  It’s Davis Hoffmeister.  Ivan gets distracted and Hensen uses the fatal flaw and hits Ivan with a powerslam.  He hooks the leg getting the 1-2-3.  Hardcore Hensen gets the win and retains his title.  He tries to showboat but his celebration is cut short when TNT and Scooter J hit the ring and they fight all the way to the back. 

Back in the ring, Ivan begins to recover and sees Davis slide into the ring.  Ivan stands up but Davis has a chair so Ivan doesn’t approach.  Davis has a mic and says that Ivan finally bit off more than he can chew.  Davis says that their match at the PPV has to be unsanctioned because he still has yet to be cleared for action.  Davis goes on to say that since Ivan loves trying to mess with his face and remove his protective gear, he has to dig deep into his bag of tricks to ensure nothing happens.  Davis pulls something out of a bag.  “In order to keep this protective gear in place, it has to be secure.  For one night only, (he holds a mask up for all to see) the STACHE returns!”  The fans pop is so loud it is deafening.  Ivan looks worried and ends up leaving.  Davis places the mask on and the fans go nuts as the show comes to an end.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2018 #718 – Phoenix Heat

Hello fans and welcome to the next installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat show.  Our PPV House of Horrors is one week away and is shaping up to be a pretty crazy one with every match on the card having specialty rules. 

Today’s show kicks off backstage in GM Master Bull’s office.  He’s busy writing when the Regulators (Mule and Mammoth) enter and ask to speak with him.  Mule says that they were one move away from being next in line for the tag team titles if it weren’t for the Banker’s outside interference costing them the match.  They ask for a match with the Banker at the PPV.  Master Bull thinks about it for a moment and then agrees but says that since the Banker has taken many liberties in breaking the rules, he says it will be a 2 on one handicap match.  The Regulators smile and thank Master Bull and then leave.

We head to the ring for our first match of the night.  Pyro goes off and things are about to get started.  We kick off the show with an Elimination Chamber Qualifying match.  First, music hits and out comes Starbuck Steel accompanied by his brother Buzz.  The pop they get is deafening.  Both men head down to the ring but Buzz goes to sit at commentary and Starbuck enters the ring.  Next, the music changes and out comes ‘The Elitist’ Reid Rothchild accompanied by his manager the Ambassador.  The duo are booed as they head down to the ring.  Reid enters immediately and begins to jawjack with Starbuck.  The ref separates the two and then calls for the bell to be rung.  Right off the bat, the Ambassador tries to interfere, gets caught and then is ejected from ringside.  He heads to the back grumbling (and probably swearing too).  The distraction was enough for Starbuck to capitalize on.  4 minutes in, Reid hits the Reid Bottom (Rock Bottom) but then goes to jawjack with the fans.  Starbuck recovers and heads to the top corner turnbuckle.  Just as Reid turns around, Starbuck launches connecting with a Shooting Star Buck.  Reid is down.  Starbuck goes to the corner a second time and executes a second Shooting Star Buck.  Starbuck hits a hangman’s DDT and goes for the pin but Reid kicks out.  Starbuck then takes Reid to each corner and bounces his head off each turnbuckle.  Reid falls backwards into the ring.  Starbuck makes the cover and gets the 1-2-3.  Starbuck Steel gets the win and it looks like Reid will be heading to the Elimination Chamber.  (7 min).  Starbuck and Buzz leave to a pop from the crowd.  Reid recovers and heads to the back also.

The Wicked Prophet is backstage with the new 6 Man Tag Team Champions the 5^th Column.  Baron von Blood, Oswald Zimmerman and Karl Braun are basking in the glow of being the champs.  WP asks them if they are ready to defend the belts and Karl interjected “Whoa there hoss.  We just won the belts and you think we’re going to turn around and defend them?  WRONG.  We have 30 days (Oswald corrects him saying ‘once a month’) to defend the belts and they are going to maximize the amount of time that they can sit back and watch the world go by.”  WP says that they are coward champions then and Baron almost decks him.  “Watch your tongue boy.  You are talking to the 6 Man champs and if you really think you have something to say, step in the ring and we’ll shut you down like an abandoned carnival.”  The champs walk off with Prophet glaring at them.

We head back to the ring for our next match which also happens to be an Elimination Chamber qualifier but this one will be tag team based.  The losing team will go to the Chamber.  First, the Ryzing Storm (Travis and Terra Ryzing) come out and are booed.  Travis does his best to ignore them but Terra gives about as good as he gets.  Eventually they get in the ring.  Next, the Machines (B and P Machines) come out to a pop from the crowd.  The fact that the masked men get such a great reaction further irritates Terra and he begins pacing in the ring.  Terra attacks them but the Machines immediately double team him and from there, they own the entire match.  In fact, it was a bit embarrassing on the Ryzing Storm as they didn’t put up much of a fight.  What was surprising though was that this match went the distance.   The Storm had the presence of mind to make the save from any pin or submission attempt.  As we got into the final two minutes of the match,   Terra hit the Terror Rising and went for a pin only to have B-Machine kick out at 2.  He then tagged out to Travis who came in locked B-Machine up with a Power Full Nelson and in his weakened state, he ended up tapping out.  The Ryzing Storm comes from behind to take the win in the final seconds of the match.  The Machines will be going on to the Chamber.  (29:56)

Apollo Gyze is backstage and he sees ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger.  He begins to mock him for losing his chamber qualifying match but Winger got fed up pretty quick.  He then challenged Apollo to a match and said that Apollo should agree to make this another qualifying match but Apollo said that he wasn’t stupid and would not agree to such a ludicrous request.  Winger said fine and challenged him to a normal match instead.  Apollo accepted.  That match is up next.

We go to the ring just at ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger is making his way out.  The fans pop for him as he makes his way to the ring.  Next, we hear “Apollo Gyze don’t apologize” over the loudspeakers and out comes the most irritating man in all of sports entertainment.  The fans boo him but he doesn’t seem to care.  Apollo barely has time to get his jacket off before Winger goes on the offensive.  The two do battle but Apollo must have gotten under Winger’s skin as Top Gun’s game was a bit off.  Apollo used that to his advantage and ended up taking the match to the time limit.  The match is called a draw and Apollo breathes a sigh of relief and Winger heads to the back.  Apollo took the mic and said that he is officially accepting the twerp Tommy Lightning’s challenge to a match at the PPV where the loser leaves Phoenix.  Apollo says he just bought a house so he ain’t going anywhere.  He leaves to a chorus of booing from the fans.  (30 min draw)

Our next match is ready to go.  First, Leiton Snake comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  He makes his way down to the ring and does his shtick.   Next, the music changes and the crowd goes sour as manager JC Dykes comes out and is followed by the Unknown Assassin.  The duo make their way down to the ring amid a barrage of verbal insults and some miscellaneous garbage thrown their way.  The Assassin gets in the ring and the booing intensifies.  I think it’s safe to say he is not liked by the crowd here.  The match begins.  UA starts off with going for a nerve pinch but Leiton reverses it and attempts a diving somersault neckbreaker but UA nullifies it.  UA gets the nerve pinch on but Leiton hits a sling blade twice.  Dykes then blows on his whistle hoping to distract Leiton but that gets nullified and Leiton hits a pedigree facebuster.  UA hits some karate chops and Leiton hits a running single leg dropkick.  Dykes provides a distraction and this time he got Leiton’s attention which allowed UA to connect with some English forearm strikes.  He goes for the pin and gets a handful of tights to secure the 3 count.  The Unknown Assassin gets the win.  The fans and Leiton tried to complain but it did no good so he left.  Just as UA was going to leave, the lights go out briefly and when they come back on, Dr. Red Fang is standing right behind him and hits a Vampire Lunge.  The fans boo even louder.  Fang screams “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE” before leaving.  (6 min)

The Wicked Prophet is backstage with Tommy Lightning.  Tommy says he’s glad that Apollo grew a pair to face him again in the ring with a potential move out of the territory on the line.  Tommy says he’s taken about all he can handle of “Apollo Gyze don’t apologize” and says Phoenix will be a much better place with Apollo gone.

The next match is ready to begin.  Tommy Lightning comes out first to a pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes Angry Jack Lawson.  Lawson tries to intimidate Tommy by raising his arms and dropping them.  Flames shot out of the corner posts but not in such a dramatic fashion as he’d had hoped.  In fact, the flames sort of sputtered and the fans laughed which made Jack even angrier.  He rushes down to the ring and immediately attacks Tommy.  Jack held the offense for about 10 minutes but then Tommy began to battle back and took the match to Lawson.  Tommy had things pretty much locked up by the end of the match.  Jack had other plans and hit a clothesline from the top rope but Tommy rolled through it and went for a sunset flip.  As he was trying to get Jack down (who was holding the top rope to prevent that), the bell rang bringing this one to a draw finish.  Jack, frustrated, left.  Tommy began to celebrate with the fans but then his celebration is cut short when Apollo Gyze hits the ring taking Tommy out with a steel chair.   Apollo stands their laughing but he stops with the music changes and out comes GM Master Bull.  Bull gets on the mic and tells Apollo he’s had it with this garbage and says that he is making a change to the Apollo/Tommy match and that it will have a special guest referee…HIM.  The fans pop huge and Apollo starts to throw a tantrum in the ring.  Bull smiles and leaves.  Apollo follows soon thereafter. 

We head to the back where the Wicked Prophet is standing with the Ladies champion Ravishing Raquel and her manager the Ambassador.

WP:  I’m the Wicked Prophet and I call it like it is.  I’m here with the Ladies champion Ravishing Raquel.  Raquel, tonight you defend your title against Lady Hermann.  What are your thoughts on your challenger?

RR:  Prophet, there aren’t many women in this sport who operate at my level but Lady Hermann is pretty damn close.  But here is the thing…close only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades.   I’ve said it once before and I will say it again, I am the best, better than the rest.

WP:  Well, you are the Ladies Champion and a dominant one at that.  With your manager in your corner, you seem unstoppable.

Ambassador:  It doesn’t matter if I’m in her corner or not, she is the greatest ladies wrestler to ever put on a pair of boots.  That title stays where it is until she decides she wants to throw a bone to someone else.

WP:  Strong words.  Now, you’ll need to back them up.

RR:  Watch and be amazed.

Ravishing Raquel and her manager then leave heading to the ring.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the challenger Lady Hermann comes out to a small pop from the crowd.  Next, the music changes and out comes the Ambassador as he leads the Ladies Champion Ravishing Raquel down to the ring.  She seems to have a following although most fans still boo her.  She gets in the ring and walks by Lady Hermann.  She climbs each turnbuckle holding her title high each time.  Once she accomplished that, she handed the title to the ref, did some stretching and nodded to her manager.  Needless to say, Lady Hermann DOMINATED the champion.  We have never seen Raquel thrown around like a rag doll before.   Raquel didn’t get one offensive move in until 7 minutes into the match when she hit the Simply Ravishing out of nowhere.  She didn’t have the presence of mind though to go for a pin.  Raquel goes for the Ravishing Chickenwing and Lady Hermann hits a spear.  Both ladies go down and are slow to get up but eventually make it to their feet before the ref counted to 10.  Lady Hermann hits the Natural Selection Cutter and stands over Raquel.   She takes her eyes off Raquel for only a split second but that was all the champ needed to jump up and lock in the Ravishing Chickenwing.  She takes Lady Hermann to the mat and grounds her.  Lady Hermann struggled and tried to claw her way to the ropes with no avail.  She finally relented and tapped out.  Ravishing Raquel gets the win after taking a beating (24 to 57) in 10 minutes.  She knows she had the toughest challenge in some time.  She holds her title high as the show comes to an end.

Hello Fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Tacoma Thunder.  The day may have started off here dreary with some pretty heavy fog but our show was the highlight of the day. An agreement between GM’s Max McGillicutty and Master Bull allows for two cross promotion shows to air tonight.  

The show begins backstage in the locker room.  GM Max McGillicutty says that tonight, there will be one Elimination Chamber qualifying match.   He draws two names and reads them out loud.  “First, we have ‘Big Money’ Ned Rhyerson III (someone in the crowd snickered which drew an angry look from Ned) and he’ll be taking on…Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  Also, the rest of tonight’s card is posted so you’ll know when and where.”  Everyone filtered out except for Drew and Ned.  Ned walked up to Drew and chuckled before walking away.

Pyro goes off and our show is ready to kick off.  First, Wendell Hammerschmidt comes out to booing from the crowd.  Next, the Crocodile Hunter comes out and the fans pop for him.  Wendell attacked Croc and for the first 3 minutes of the match, he controlled it but then Croc battled back and really took the match to Wendell.  Numerous times, Wendell tried to get himself counted out but Croc threw him back in each time and continued the offensive.  Both men then noticed that the time limit was close to expiring so Wendell then tried to get himself disqualified by hitting the ref but Croc prevented it by grabbing Wendell’s leg and pulling him into the middle of the ring locking in an ankle lock.  Wendell wouldn’t tap but made it to the ropes to break the hold.  Croc got right up and hit a vertical drop DDT.  That was all she wrote.  Croc made the cover and got the 1-2-3.  The Crocodile Hunter gets the win and the fans were happy about that.  He psyched them up for a moment and then left.  (19 min)

We head backstage and outside as a limo pulls up.  The door opens and out steps Queen Alexandria followed by World Champion ‘the Ragin Cajun’ King Rad Gumbo.  The fans boo but he ignores them.  They walk in and up to the match board and Rad sees that he is defending the World title tonight against…Muscles Weasley.  Gumbo shakes his head.  “Honestly, is this all they have for me?”  He and Queen Alexandria head off to his dressing room.

Our second match is ready to go.  First, Perfect Pecs Stoddard comes out and stands on the stage.  He begins flexing his pecs which draws even more booing.  He snears at them and makes his way down and into the ring.  Next, we hear the all-too-familiar ringing of a bell and out comes ‘the King of Cones’ Magnum Kone with his ice cream cart.  He gets a pop as he hands out ice cream to the kids.  Once his cart is depleted, he gets in the ring and this one is ready to go.  The man who refers to himself as the Celtic Censation (yes, he spells it that way) attacked Magnum and the two began battling it out.  Pecs controlled the match for the first 10 minutes but then with the crowd solidly behind him, Magnum began to battle back much to the fans’ delight.  Magnum’s offensive run came to a halt after Pecs dropped him with the Irish curse backbreaker.  He then followed it up with running double axe handle smash.  He went for a pin but Magnum kicked out at two.  He then blasted Magnum with the Ten Beats of Bodran and went for the pin again but Magnum grabbed the rope to break the hold at 1.  Frustrated, Pecs got into the ref’s face.  Magnum got to his feet, turned Pecs around and hit a Push Pop (leg sweep).  The bell rang just then bringing this one to a 20 min draw.  Pecs left first and on his way out, took Magnum’s ice cream cart and dumped it on its side.  This drew more ire from the fans and Pecs smirked all the way to the back.  Magnum righted the cart and left shortly thereafter. 

Backstage, the Wicked Prophet is with Drew the Canadian Love Machine.

WP:  Drew, tonight, you are in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Ned Rhyerson.  What is your plan?

DTCLM:  Wicked Prophet, for those who don’t know, the Elimination Chamber is one of the deadliest structures ever created and it is a place where good things come to an end.  In this case, one roster’s team will lose their jobs.  I know it’s been echoed before but with all I’ve accomplished in HCW, I’m not ready to say goodbye so I will do everything in my power not to be put in that situation.  Ned is a big man but the saying goes…the bigger they are, the harder they fall.”

WP:  There you have it.  Drew vs Ned Rhyerson is up next.  Back to you at ringside.

Our next match begins with ‘Big Money’ Ned Rhyerson III making his way out as the fans boo.  He flips them off as he makes his way into the ring.  He jawjacks with some of the fans at ringside but he’s interrupted when the music changes and out comes Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  The fans practically explode when Drew comes out and the pop is so loud its deafening.  Drew makes his way down to the ring and then climbs one of the corner turnbuckles to an even louder pop from the crowd.  Ned immediately attacks him forcing this one to begin before Drew was ready.  Drew fought back with some chops but Ned stunned him with a knee lift.  Drew hit the La Casita but Ned took him off his feet with a flying dropkick.  Ned goes to the ropes and tries for something but Drew reverses it and hits a corkscrew pescado and goes for the pin but only gets a 2 count.   Ned stunned Drew again with a knee lift.   Ned hits an elbow smash and Drew hits the corkscrew pescado again for another near fall.   Drew connects with the Lover Bomb but Ned bounces his head off the corner turnbuckle.  Ned goes for an elbow smash again but Drew reverses it and bodyslams Rhyerson.  He goes for the pin but Ned kicks out at two.   Drew hits an arm drag take down but then Ned clips him behind the knee. He the locks in a step over toe hold.  He cinches it in and then grabs the top rope for extra leverage.  The ref doesn’t see it but does see Drew tap out.  Holy cow.  Drew the Canadian Love Machine tapped out (he almost never has) and now he goes on to represent Phoenix at the Chamber.  The fans give him a pop as he leaves but struggled to put any pressure on his leg.  The ref came out and helped him to the back.  (11 min)

Over in the interview area, the Wicked Prophet is standing there with Tommy Lightning. 

WP:  Tommy, you asked for this time so the floor is yours.

TL:  Prophet, you and the fans know that ever since he showed up in Phoenix, Apollo Gyze did nothing but irritate the wrestlers, management and especially the fans.  He is a menace to the Phoenix roster so I’m going to issue a challenge.  Apollo, I challenge you to a Lights Out match at the PPV in 10 short days.  The kicker though is that the loser leaves Phoenix.

WP:  Wow, you heard it here first folks.  I’ll be down in Phoenix in 3 short days and will be sure to get Apollo’s response.  Back to you at the ring.

We head back to the ring for our first cross promotion match.  This one will be to see who gets the next title shot at the World Tag team titles.  First, the Regulators (Mule and Mammoth) come out first to a decent pop from the fans.  Next, the Axe and Superstar Chic Monroe come out and the fans pop louder.  It’s apparent that this duo is more liked.  This one was controlled mostly by Axe and Chic although the Regulators put up a solid fight.  Just when it looked like the Regulators were going to take control, there was a disturbance in the crowd.  Regulator Mammoth was trying to see what was going on.  Axe threw Mule out of the ring.  All of a sudden, the Banker sneaks in from the crowd (not where the disturbance was coming from) and blasts Mule with a chair.  He then sneaks away.  The ref, oblivious, begins to count and when he got to 10, it was apparent he was not getting back up.  Mule ends up getting counted out.  Axe and Chic are now next in line for a shot at the titles.  We’re sure the Regulators will have something to say about this. (16 ½ min)

The Wicked Prophet is really clamoring for air time.  This time he’s with Ruby Rose.

WP:  Hi Ruby, well, first, congratulations on getting the role as Batwoman on the TV show Arrow.

RR:  Um, that is a different Ruby Rose.  She’s an actress, I’m a wrestler.

WP:  OH MY BAD.  Sorry about that.

RR:  You know, once I signed with HCW and began a program with Vanilla Zombie, I thought that it would catapult us to bigger and better things but it seems like I’ve been languishing in jobber status.  Tonight, that changes.  Tonight, I show the world why I was signed on with HCW and can promise that there are great things on my horizon.

WP:  Preach the good word Ruby.  Back to you at ringside.

Up next is our second cross-promotion match.  First, from Phoenix, out comes Missy Chick.  She gets a smattering of a pop from the crowd.  Next, out comes Ruby Rose and the fans pop for her.  Ruby comes out and immediately makes a beeline for the ring.  Missy feels like she has something to prove too so she goes right on the offensive as soon as the bell rang.  Four minutes in, Missy goes for a one-handed bulldog but Ruby reverses it and nails an exploder suplex.  Missy hits a running clothesline and Ruby hits the Spit Mist of Transformation.  She goes for the cover but Missy kicks out at two.  Ruby stands up and yells “Enough shenanigans” and then hits the Red Wedding Facebuster.  Ruby goes for the pin and this time gets the 1-2-3.  Ruby gets the win and the fans pop huge as she makes her way to the back.

One last time, we go back to the interview area where the Wicked Prophet is standing by.

WP:  Ladies and gentleman, it’s my honor to introduce the World Champion the Ragin Cajun King Rad Gumbo.

(in walks Gumbo and Queen Alexandria)

RG:  Prophet, good to see you again.

WP:  Your lordship, tonight you defend the title against Muscles Weasley. 

RG:  The last time we spoke, I had a non-title match against Jesse California.  Tonight I defend my title against one of the Muscles.  Is this honestly the best that HCW has for me?  Where is the talent?  Where are the former champions?  I defeated Buzz Steel 3 months ago to combine the World and Interim Championships and since then, the World title has lost all focus.  The top belt has languished behind meaningless feuds.  I’m not saying that the World Champ needs to be on every show but I’m also not a fan of the ‘Brock Lesnar’ frequency either.  All I have to say is that if HCW doesn’t find me some serious talent, there may have to be some changes in scenery.

WP:  King Rad, you will bring out the best in everyone and even if you dominate your opponent, you bring out the best.

RG:  Prophet, are you trying to butter me up?

WP:  No sir!  Just calling it like I see it.

RG:  In that case, I want to let HCW management know that I want my next opponent picked by YOU Wicked Prophet. 

WP:  What an honor sir.

RG:  Tonight, Weasley, you get the shot of a lifetime.  You blow it and you’re out.  Best bring you’re a game. Prophet, keep preaching the good word.

WP:  Thank you your lordship.  Back to you in the ring.

It’s time for our main event.  First, Muscles Weasley comes out with his brothers Thorpe and McGuire.  They are wearing their rainbow colored bull horns and carrying about boxes of ‘Booty-O’s cereal”.  The trio gets a pop as they head down to the ring.  They begin acting all goofy in the ring entertaining the fans when the music abruptly changes and out comes the World Champion ‘the Ragin Cajun’ King Rag Gumbo and Queen Alexandria.   Gumbo had control from early on but things went more in his favor after Queen Alexandria distracted the ref from illegal conduct executed by Gumbo.  Gumbo never let Weasley go for a pin or submission although Rad himself tried multiple times with no avail.  After totally dominating Weasley, we join the match at the 16 minute mark.

King Rad Gumbo gets the win and retains his title in dominating (176 to 76) fashion.  The show comes to an end with Gumbo climbing one corner turnbuckle and holding his title high to the booing from the fans.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2018 #716 – Phoenix Heat

Hello wrestling fans and welcome back to another installment of HCW’s Phoenix Heat.   We have a stacked card for you today with 2 title matches taking place.  First, ITF Champion Jacques Beannot defends his title against Otto Ruthless.  Next, we see the Six Man Tag Team Champions Texas Wildfire, ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger and Sonic Blade defending their titles (once again) against the 5^th Column. The Column have been whining and complaining about the cheating done by the champions and (somehow) made a case for a rematch.   I’m sure we’ll hear from the champs later on in the show.

We waste no time in kicking off our show. First, Tobias Snake comes out to a semi-pop from the crowd.  He makes his way into the ring but his music shuts off abruptly when, over the loudspeaker blares, “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYONE” and out comes the evil vampire bot Dr. Red Fang with his manager Ant Graham.   The duo are booed as they head to the ring.  Fang is snarling at the fans as he passes by.  Once in the ring, Fang immediately attacks Tobias.   Graham gets involved early by choking Tobias in the corner.  Tobias battles back hitting a snap DDT but Fang hits him with the Vampire Lunge.  Fang immediately locks in the Spider Web lock (and grabs the ropes for leverage) and Tobias has no choice but to tap out.  Dr. Red Fang gets the win in dominating fashion.   His manager joins him in the ring and (speaking for the evil vampire bot) says that Dr. Red Fang accepts the challenge from the Unknown Assassin and adds in “Don’t hide in the shadows or behind your coward of a manager.   The Dr. is here and is open for business…the business of delivering PAIN.  All of a sudden, the Unknown Assassin appears out of nowhere and begins to unload on Fang.  The fans boo.  JC Dykes also hits the ring and attacks Ant Graham.  All 4 men brawl in the ring until security came out to break it up.  Eventually everyone left.  (3 min for the match but 10 for the aftermath)

We cut back to GM Master Bull’s office.  Both Taylor Bella and the Duchess are in there complaining as to why they’re not getting air time.  Bull reminds the Duchess that her contract is winding down and she’s opted not to re-sign.  Bull then tells Taylor that he’s tried booking her but she’s been conveniently “unavailable”.  Bull thinks about it for a moment and says “Well, since the two of you are here tonight, you both can have a match…against each other…and that is coming up so you better get going.”  The ladies go to leave but try to go through the door at the same time and almost came to blows trying to determine who should go first.

The Wicked Prophet is backstage and he’s with ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger.  The Prophet seems to think that the champs have been hiding not defending their titles.  Winger tells him that they are at the mercy of HCW to book them a match and they have one tonight.  The Wicked Prophet tells him that he’s also in singles action in an Elimination Chamber Qualifier.  Sonic Blade and Texas Wildfire walk over and say that it’s BS that Winger’s being forced to wrestle twice.  Winger says that he’s got this and that his team has his back so it is all good.  The trio leave.

We cut back to the ring for our next match.  First, Regulator Mule comes out first for singles action and he is accompanied by his tag team partner Regulator Mammoth.  Next, the Banker comes out accompanied by his manager Ruth Heartless and they are booed as they head to the ring.  Banker and Mule begin slugging it out almost immediately and surprisingly, the two were evenly matched (even accounting for interference from both Ruth and Mammoth).   The Banker was in control for the first 5 minutes and after that, the two went toe to toe.  As the match progressed, it was apparent that without interference, it seemed like this one was going to go the distance.  Mammoth did manage to negate interference from Ruth.  As we entered the 19^th minute of the match, Mule rammed the Banker into the turnbuckle but the Banker came out and immediately locked in the ATM Fee armbar.  Ruth provided some extra leverage and that was all that was needed to get Mule to tap out.  The Banker gets the questionable win and rolls out of the ring before Mammoth could get at him.  The Banker and Ruth laugh all the way to the back.  Mammoth gets on the mic and challenges the Banker to a match at the PPV but he laughs it off and denies the request.  (19 min)

We head to the back again and the Wicked Prophet is with the 5^th Column.  Baron von Blood states that the champs are cowards hiding behind time limits and only wrestling sub-par teams.  Karl Braun chimes in that with nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, the belts change hands tonight.  Oswald Zimmerman says that the most dominant team in HCW gets the recognition they so rightly deserve.

We are back at ringside for our Elimination Chamber qualifier.  First, the Ambassador comes out and introduces one half of Elitism Roderick Rothchild.  The fans boo them as they head to the ring.  The booing doesn’t last long as the music changes and out comes ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger.  The fans pop huge for the man who is 1/3^rd of the 6 Man Tag Team Champions.   Winger gets down to the ring, climbs the turnbuckle and psyches up the crowd.  Once done, he removes his jacket and the ref starts the match.  Winger was in control for the first 5 minutes of the match but the Ambassador got involved and things began going the ‘rowdy one’s’ way.   Winger got a near fall after hitting the Flyin’ & Stylin’ but the Ambassador put Roderick’s foot on the bottom rope to stop the count.  10 minutes in, Winger smashed Roderick’s head into the turnbuckle stunning him.  Winger then goes for a Wild Bill Punch but Roderick reverses it and (after slipping something on to his hand?) decks Winger with a Rowdy Roundhouse.  Rothchild rolls Winger up (and maybe had a handful of tights) and gets the 1-2-3.  Roderick gets the win which means Winger will be going to the Elimination Chamber.  Winger left the ring trying to clear the cobwebs.  Then ‘the Elitist’ Reid Rothchild came out and joined his brother in the ring.  Reid got on the mic and said that it’s time for there to be (more) gold in their future and it begins with the Tag Team Titles.  Reid says he’s officially issuing a challenge to the Mexicali Flyers for a shot at the tag team titles.  I guess we’ll wait to see what happens next.  (11 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

We head back to the interview area where the Wicked Prophet is with Otto Ruthless.  Otto says that he’s tired of being overlooked so it’s about damned time he gets a title shot.  He will prove that, as his name implies, he will show Jacques a level of Ruthless he’s never before witnessed.  Otto then walks away.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, Taylor Bella comes out and she’s booed.  She doesn’t care and gets into the ring.  Next, the Duchess comes out and she too is booed but she flips the fans off.  She even stopped to jawjack with one of them.  She enters the ring and immediately stands nose to nose with Taylor.  The ref sends them to their respective corners and then rings the bell.   Taylor immediately goes on the offensive and held it throughout the majority of the match.  About half way in, Scarlett Phoenix came out and went to sit at commentary.  The Duchess didn’t flinch.  Slowly, the Duchess started to take the match to Taylor even owning her opponent.  16 minutes, Taylor tried to take a short cut and rolled the Duchess up with a handful of tights.  The ref saw it and told Taylor he wasn’t going to count it.  Taylor started to yell at the ref.  The Duchess got to her feet and then locked Taylor up with the All Hail Her Majesty.  Taylor struggled to make it to the ropes but the Duchess managed to keep her trapped in the middle of the ring and Taylor had no choice but to tap out.  The Duchess gets the win and immediately releases Taylor so she could jawjack with Scarlett.  Scarlett just stood there and smiled which infuriated the Duchess but both women left without incident.  (18 min) 

We head to the back again and this time, the Wicked Prophet is standing there with mic in hand.

WP:  The Wicked Prophet here calling it like I see it.  Tonight, my guest is the ITF Champion Jacques Beannot along with his manager ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher.  Welcome Jacques.

JB:  You can call me champ.  You just stand there and hold the mic for the greatest athlete to come out of the country of France.

WP:  Hey now, don’t be that way.  But since you’re already going down that path, let’s check out a video from your last match.

A video replays of Jacques last match where it was blatantly obvious that he cheated to win by grabbing the ropes for leverage.

WP:  You grabbed the ropes in what is apparently a cheap way to win.

MP:  Listen up you placeholder.  Jacques is the greatest athlete to come out of the great country of France.  He doesn’t need my help or anyones as he succeeds on his own.  I’m just along to give him suggestions and I actually have a suggestion for you, Prophet.  I suggest you keep your nose out of business that doesn’t pertain to you and stand there and do your job….

JB:  Whoa, whoa there Preacher.  Let me handle this.  Listen Prophet.  I am the champion holding the International Title of France belt and this means I’m the best.  Not only am I better than those so-called athletes here in the US but globally.

WP:  Well, actually, the WORLD Champion King Rad Gumbo would be the greatest champion in the WORLD.

JB:  You are one step away from getting your ass kicked.  First, I take care of Otto and if you say one more derogatory thing about me, you’ll be next.

WP:  What a Jacque-Ass

We head to the ring for our first title match.  Otto Ruthless comes out and the fans boo him as he makes his way down to the ring.  He gets in the ring and flips the fans off.  The music changes and out comes ‘The Singapore Sensation’ Matt Preacher and the ITF champion Jacques Beannot.  The fans really boo him and he seems to relish in it.  He makes his way to the ring and holds the title high as he climbs each of the corner turnbuckles.  The match begins and almost immediately, Otto took control of the match and really took the match to the champ.  Even with outside interference from Preacher, Otto still retained control until approximately 15 minutes in.  Otto just neutralized a double underhook and Jacques stunned him with a jaw jacker.  Jacques then locked in the French Cloverleaf and once again he grabbed the ropes for leverage.  He cinched it in and Otto had no choice but to tap out. Jacques gets the win and Matt Preacher joins him in the ring and hands him his title.  He holds it high one last time and the two of them leave.  (17 min)

We cut back to the GM office where Master Bull announces 2 more Elimination chamber qualifiers and the Ladies title match to take place at the next Phoenix show.   He is interrupted when Apollo Gyze walks in complaining about not being on the show.  Bull is pissed he was interrupted and tells Apollo to apologize.  He doesn’t.  Apollo then leaves.

It’s time for our main event.  First, the 5^th Column (Baron von Blood, Oswald Zimmerman and Karl Braun) make their way to the ring.  The fans boo them and they exchange “pleasantries” with the fans.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes the 6 Man Tag Team Champions – Texas Wildfire, Sonic Blade and ‘Top Gun’ Justin Winger.  Winger looked a little worse for wear but the team is united as one.  They get in the ring, each climb the turnbuckles and hold the titles up to pops from the crowd.  They hand over the belts and TW starts off against Baron von Blood.

HOLY CRAP!  Just like that, the champs lost the belts and now the 5^th Column are the NEW 6 Man Tag Team Champions!  The fans, mostly speechless and dumbfounded, could not believe what just happened.  The Column stand tall holding their titles high as the show comes to an end.
