J.R. Holland:
“Hello wrestling fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter. We are live tonight in Charleston, South Carolina for HCW Shockwave — and C.K., this is what this show is all about. New towns, new energy, and tonight, huge implications for the Convergent Championship.”

C.K.:
“Oh please. It’s a high school gym with a fog machine. Let’s not pretend this is Madison Square Garden.”

J.R. Holland:
“North Chuck’s Arena is sold out, the crowd is hot, and later tonight, four men will fight for the right to challenge for the Convergent Title. That seems pretty important to me.”

C.K.:
“Everything seems important to you.”

MUSIC HITS – GM Max McGillicutty

Max McGillicutty steps onto the stage to a strong reaction and walks to the ring with a microphone.

Max McGillicutty:
“Good evening, Charleston! Welcome to HCW Shockwave!”

Crowd pops.

Max McGillicutty:
“Now, as many of you already know, the Convergent Champion, Van Helsing, is not in the building tonight…”

Murmurs from the crowd.

Max McGillicutty:
“…but he will be in the building this Friday night on Live Wire.”

Bigger reaction.

Max McGillicutty:
“So tonight, we are going to determine who gets the next shot at the Convergent Championship.”

Crowd cheers.

Max McGillicutty:
“In tonight’s main event, it will be a Fatal Four Way Match… and the winner will become the #1 Contender to the Convergent Title!”

Big pop.

Max McGillicutty:
“The competitors are:
Hardcore Champion Jax Brenner.
‘The Italian Thoroughbred’ Dominic Marconi.
‘Dirty’ Dick Albano.
And… Ashen Vicar.”

The crowd reacts strongly to that last name.

Max McGillicutty:
“Four very different men. Four very different paths. One championship opportunity.”

He pauses.

Max McGillicutty:
“And one more announcement before we get started…”

Max McGillicutty:
“As you all know, HCW Shockwave is a traveling show. Different cities. Different arenas. Different energy every single week.”

He gestures toward the stage.

Max McGillicutty:
“So starting tonight, Shockwave will have its own dedicated field correspondent on the road with us.”

Max McGillicutty:
“Please welcome… Ryan Mercer.”

Short intro sting plays as Ryan Mercer steps out onto the stage, a little nervous but smiling, holding an HCW microphone. She waves to the crowd and walks onto the stage beside Max.

Max McGillicutty:
“Ryan will be bringing you exclusive backstage interviews all night long — including with every competitor in tonight’s main event.”

Ryan nods, clearly excited and a little overwhelmed.

Ryan Mercer:
“Thank you, Max. Charleston, it’s great to be here, and I’m really looking forward to bringing everyone at home closer to the action tonight.”

She smiles, gets a nice crowd response.

Max McGillicutty:
“Welcome to the road.”

They shake hands. Ryan heads toward the back.

BACK TO COMMENTARY

J.R. Holland:
“Well, that’s a big night for Ryan Mercer — and a big responsibility on a show like Shockwave.”

C.K.:
“…That’s who we’re sending to handle Jett Sterling and a bunch of psychos?”

J.R. Holland:
“Everyone starts somewhere, C.K.”

C.K.:
“Somewhere should be… maybe a nice quiet press conference. Not this.”

J.R. Holland:
“She’ll be fine. And tonight, she’s going to have her hands full.”

C.K.:
“Oh, that part I agree with.”

J.R. Holland:
“Still to come tonight, we’ll hear from all four men in the main event, and from Jett Sterling as well. But first—”

C.K.:
“—let’s get this traveling circus started.”

J.R. Holland:
“HCW Shockwave is underway!”

[CAMERA CUT – BACKSTAGE]

Ryan Mercer stands in a busy backstage corridor. You can hear the muffled roar of the Charleston crowd in the distance. She’s holding her microphone a little tightly — professional, but clearly feeling the moment.

Ryan Mercer:
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to HCW Shockwave. I’m Ryan Mercer, and tonight, the main event will determine the next challenger to the Convergent Championship. But right now, I’m joined by one of the most talked-about stars in HCW today… Jett Sterling.”

A cartoon of two people

Jett Sterling steps into frame. Confident. Relaxed. Annoyed that this is even happening.

He looks at Ryan. Looks at the camera. Smirks.

Jett Sterling:
“…They sent you?”

Ryan blinks, then keeps her composure.

Ryan Mercer:
“Jett, tonight you face ‘Lightning’ Ethan Hayes. A lot of people see this as another opportunity for you to prove—”

Jett Sterling:
“—No. Let me stop you right there.”

He gently but firmly pushes the mic a little lower.

Jett Sterling:
“This isn’t an opportunity. This is a formality.”

He looks back at the camera.

Jett Sterling:
“HCW keeps talking about ‘the future’ like it hasn’t already arrived. I am standing right here.”

Ryan tries to regain control.

Ryan Mercer:
“Ethan Hayes is a superstar and a very experienced competitor—”

Jett Sterling:
“And completely irrelevant.”

He finally looks back at her.

Jett Sterling:
“You know what Shockwave is, right? It’s the road show. The test lab. The place they send people to see who’s ready.”

He gestures to himself.

Jett Sterling:
“They already know about me.”

He glances around.

Jett Sterling:
“And they already know about him.”

Ryan holds her ground better than expected.

Ryan Mercer:
“Some people would say that kind of attitude has a way of catching up to you.”

Jett laughs.

Jett Sterling:
“Some people also think this company runs on fairness and merit.”

He leans in slightly toward the camera.

Jett Sterling:
“It runs on inevitability.”

He steps past Ryan, then stops.

Turns back.

Jett Sterling:
“Oh — and welcome to Shockwave. Try to keep up.”

Jett walks off.

Ryan takes a breath, regains her composure, and turns back to the camera.

Ryan Mercer:
“Jett Sterling, in action later tonight against Ethan Hayes.”

She pauses, then adds, more confidently now:

Ryan Mercer:
“Back to you at ringside.”

[CUT BACK TO COMMENTARY]

J.R. Holland:
“Well… that is not an easy first assignment for anyone.”

C.K.:
“Oh please. He’s right. She asked the wrong questions, and he gave the only answers that matter.”

J.R. Holland:
“He gave a lot of arrogance. We’ll see if he can back it up.”

C.K.:
“He always does.”

The lights in North Chuck’s Arena dim slightly as the crowd settles in after the opening stretch of the show.

J.R. Holland:
“We are ready for our first match of the night here on Shockwave, and this is exactly what this show is designed to showcase — different styles, different personalities, and wrestlers looking to make an impression in a new town.”

C.K.:
“Or looking to survive being experimented on.”

Lavender Gooms steps out onto the stage, calm, deliberate, and slightly unsettling in her body language. She pauses at the top of the ramp, slowly looking out over the Charleston crowd before making her way toward the ring.

J.R. Holland:
“Lavender Gooms is one of the more… unpredictable competitors we have in HCW. You never quite know what you’re going to get.”

C.K.:
“You always know what you’re going to get. You’re just not always ready for it.”

Lavender slides into the ring and drifts to her corner, never taking her eyes off the ramp.

The lights shift as Luna Shadow emerges to a strong reaction from the crowd. Focused. Confident. She doesn’t rush — she walks with purpose, eyes locked on the ring and on her opponent.

J.R. Holland:
“Luna Shadow has been building momentum, and she’s the kind of competitor who thrives in environments like this — new crowd, new pressure, and a chance to prove she belongs in the conversation.”

C.K.:
“Or a chance to learn that conversations change depending on who’s telling the story.”

Luna steps into the ring, climbs the ropes briefly, then turns and stares across at Lavender Gooms.

J.R. Holland:
“Two very different approaches. Two very different mindsets. And we are about to get things started.”

C.K.:
“Let’s see which one survives the experiment.”

Lavender Gooms wasted no time once the bell rang, catching Luna Shadow off guard and snapping her down hard with a sudden hurricanrana that sent Luna skidding across the canvas. Lavender stayed on her, stalking forward like she could smell weakness.

J.R. Holland:
“Lavender Gooms came out swinging—she’s trying to make a statement early tonight!”

C.K.:
“Or she’s just trying to end this before Charleston wakes up.”

Luna regrouped fast, firing back with a sharp burst of offense—she snapped Lavender over with the Moonlit Suplex, but Lavender answered right back with a running leg drop, keeping the match frantic and uneasy.

Then Luna’s expression changed.

She snatched Lavender in close, turned her hips, and locked in the Abyssal Lock—deep, tight, and perfectly centered. Lavender fought it for a moment, reaching, twisting, trying to find daylight… but the pressure only got worse.

J.R. Holland:
“She’s got it! Lavender’s in trouble—this is cinched in!”

C.K.:
“Yeah, yeah—tap or snap. Choose.”

Lavender had no choice. She tapped out, and Luna Shadow released the hold immediately, rising with a cold calm as her hand was raised.

Winner: Luna Shadow via submission (Abyssal Lock) over Lavender Gooms.

J.R. Holland:
“A quick but very telling victory for Luna Shadow. Lavender Gooms came out aggressively, but once Luna found her opening, she wasted absolutely no time locking in that Abyssal Lock.”

C.K.:
“That’s the difference between looking dangerous and being dangerous. Lavender had some flash. Luna had a finish.”

J.R. Holland:
“And that’s a submission you don’t escape from by accident. Luna Shadow makes a statement here in Charleston to kick off Shockwave.”

C.K.:
“Congratulations. You passed the first test. The real ones come later.”

J.R. Holland:
“Still to come tonight, our Fatal Four Way main event will determine the next challenger to the Convergent Championship, but right now, let’s head backstage.”

C.K.:
“Oh good. Let’s see how our new road correspondent is holding up.”

BACKSTAGE — RYAN MERCER WITH JAX BRENNER

Ryan Mercer stands in front of a branded Shockwave backdrop, noticeably more composed than earlier in the night. She holds the microphone steady as the camera comes into focus.

Ryan Mercer:
“Ladies and gentlemen, earlier tonight we heard from Jett Sterling, but right now I’m joined by one of the competitors in tonight’s main event… Jax Brenner.”

Jax Brenner steps into frame. Calm. Intense. Focused. No wasted movement.

Ryan Mercer:
“Jax, tonight you’re part of a Fatal Four Way with a shot at the Convergent Championship on the line. You’ll be facing Dominic Marconi, Dick Albano, and Ashen Vicar. How are you approaching a match with so many variables?”

Jax doesn’t hesitate.

Jax Brenner:
“You don’t overthink it. You don’t try to outsmart chaos.”

He looks straight into the camera.

Jax Brenner:
“You survive it.”

Ryan nods, keeping her composure.

Ryan Mercer:
“Does it change your strategy knowing you don’t have to be pinned to lose?”

Jax Brenner:
“It changes everyone else’s.”

He cracks his neck slightly.

Jax Brenner:
“Albano will look for shortcuts. Dominic will look for honor. Ashen Vicar…”

(He pauses.)

“…he’ll look for something else entirely.”

Jax steps a little closer to the camera.

Jax Brenner:
“I’m not here to look for anything. I’m here to take the opportunity and leave.”

Ryan holds eye contact.

Ryan Mercer:
“Good luck tonight.”

Jax gives a single nod and walks out of frame.

Ryan turns back to the camera, confident now.

Ryan Mercer:
“Jax Brenner, one of four men competing later tonight in the Fatal Four Way main event. Back to you at ringside.”

[CUT BACK TO COMMENTARY]

J.R. Holland:
“We’ve already heard from one of the men in tonight’s Fatal Four Way main event, and Jax Brenner sounded as focused and as dangerous as ever.”

C.K.:
“He always sounds like that. The question is whether it still works when there are three other people trying to take the same prize.”

J.R. Holland:
“Either way, later tonight only one of them walks out as the next challenger to the Convergent Champion.”

C.K.:
“And three of them walk out with excuses.”

J.R. Holland:
“But right now, it’s time for our next match.”

Boos rain down as Pierre Boulay steps onto the stage first, wearing a smug, self-satisfied grin. A second later, Tony Albano and Salvatore Albano follow him out, soaking in the hostility like it’s fuel.

They move slowly, deliberately, Boulay talking animatedly to them as they walk, pointing toward the ring like a general laying out a battle plan.

J.R. Holland:
“Here come the Albanos, and wherever they go, Pierre Boulay is never far behind.”

C.K.:
“A visionary needs representation, J.R. These two are a business investment.”

The trio reach the ring. Tony and Salvatore slide in while Boulay stays at ringside, straightening his jacket and shouting last-second instructions.

J.R. Holland:
“You can be sure Pierre Boulay will be looking for every possible advantage for his clients tonight.”

C.K.:
“As he should. That’s literally his job.”

The mood shifts as Leopold Dilg steps out, followed closely by the hulking Bruiser McPugg. Dilg looks composed and focused, while McPugg cracks his knuckles and stares straight toward the ring.

They head down the aisle with purpose, ignoring the Albanos and Boulay’s shouting from ringside.

J.R. Holland:
“Leopold Dilg has been steadily carving out a reputation here in HCW, and with Bruiser McPugg at his side, this is a very different kind of challenge for the Albanos.”

C.K.:
“Different doesn’t mean better. It just means louder.”

Dilg and McPugg enter the ring and stand their ground, staring across at their opponents as the referee calls for final instructions.

J.R. Holland:
“Two very different teams, two very different philosophies, and this one is ready to get underway here on Shockwave.”

C.K.:
“Let’s see whose philosophy survives.”

Salvatore Albano wastes no time, bulling Bruiser McPugg straight through the ropes and forcing Honest Abe into an early count.

J.R. Holland:
“Right out of the gate, the Albanos are trying to turn this into chaos. McPugg got dumped like a sack of lumber!”

C.K.:
“Hey, if he can’t stay on his feet, that’s not Salvatore’s problem. This is called ring awareness, J.R.”

McPugg powers his way back in before the count gets dangerous, but Salvatore stays aggressive, jawing at him and tagging out as soon as he can to keep fresh legs rotating.

The momentum swings when Dilg and McPugg finally isolate Salvatore.

McPugg hauls him up and slams him with a Backdrop Suplex, and Dilg immediately snaps on a Crossface Chickenwing, wrenching Salvatore down to the mat.

J.R. Holland:
“Beautiful teamwork! That’s exactly how Dilg and McPugg want to fight this match!”

C.K.:
“Or it’s exactly why Salvatore needs to get out of there before his arm comes off.”

Salvatore barely survives and scrambles away, but the match stays physical and messy. The Albanos try to slow things down with shortcuts and positioning.

Then Pierre Boulay makes his presence felt.

As McPugg starts to take control again, Boulay snaps a cheap shot from the apron right into McPugg’s blind side.

J.R. Holland:
“Oh come on! Boulay just clocked McPugg right in front of the referee!”

C.K.:
“I didn’t see anything. And neither did Abe, apparently. Tragic.”

Tony tags in and the Albanos press the advantage, working McPugg over in their corner with stomps and cheap forearms until McPugg finally explodes out of the corner with a Running Lariat that nearly turns Salvatore inside out.

J.R. Holland:
“That might have taken Salvatore’s head off!”

C.K.:
“Okay… that one I felt.”

McPugg finally gets the tag, and Dilg storms in, throwing Salvatore around and drilling him with a Double Underhook Suplex.

The match breaks down into a brief, frantic four-man collision before things settle again.

Dilg drops Salvatore with a Knee Drop and looks to build momentum — but Boulay slithers in again, slipping a foreign object into Salvatore’s hand behind the referee’s back.

Salvatore uses it and immediately dives into a pin.

1…
2…

Dilg kicks out!

J.R. Holland:
“He had something in his hand! Boulay handed him something!”

C.K.:
“Allegedly.”

The momentum swings again. Dilg tags McPugg back in, and now the big man is on a mission.

He blasts Salvatore with a Knee Lift, then hauls him up and crushes him with a Shoulder Breaker.

McPugg hooks the leg.

1…
2…
3!

Winners: Bruiser “Cauliflower” McPugg & Leopold Dilg
(McPugg pins Salvatore Albano after a Shoulder Breaker)

J.R. Holland:
“They survived the cheating, they survived Boulay, and they still pulled it out!”

C.K.:
“Yeah, yeah. Don’t throw a parade.”

The second the bell rings, Tony Albano storms in and jumps McPugg from behind. Salvatore joins in, stomping away in frustration.

J.R. Holland:
“Oh no, not like this—this is over! The match is over!”

C.K.:
“Looks like the Albanos aren’t in a very sporting mood.”

Pierre Boulay steps forward, eyes cold, and makes a sharp cutting motion toward the stage.

Out come “Dirty” Dick Albano and Vicious Vinnie Albano.

Now it’s a full-scale mugging. Dilg is dragged back into the ring. McPugg is swarmed. Four-on-two, with Boulay directing traffic.

J.R. Holland:
“This is a gang attack! Somebody stop this!”

The crowd erupts as—

DOMINIC MARCONI! ROLF MARCONI! AND TONY RICCA sprint to the ring!

They slide in and start throwing punches immediately. The Albanos scatter, backing out of the ring and regrouping on the ramp.

As they retreat, Dirty Dick Albano points straight at Dominic Marconi, shouting:

Dirty Dick Albano:
“YOU AND ME, DOMINIC! I’LL BE SEEIN’ YOU LATER!”

Dominic stands in the ring, staring him down, chest heaving, while the sides separate.

J.R. Holland:
“There it is. A direct warning shot. Dominic Marconi just got put on notice.”

C.K.:
“And he’s got a Fatal Four Way later tonight. That’s… unfortunate timing.”

[CAMERA CUT – BACKSTAGE]

Ryan Mercer stands in a narrow backstage corridor, clearly trying to keep her composure as production crew and staff hustle behind her. Beside her stands Dominic Marconi, still fired up from what just happened in the ring. His jaw is tight, his fists still taped, his eyes burning.

A cartoon of two people

AI-generated content may be incorrect.

Ryan Mercer:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here with Dominic Marconi, who just moments ago rushed to the ring with Rolf Marconi and Tony Ricca to stop a post-match attack by the Albano family. Dominic—”

She barely finishes before Dominic steps forward.

Dominic Marconi:
“—You heard him. You all heard him.”

He looks straight into the camera.

Dick Albano wants me? He’s got me.”

He shakes his head, almost laughing.

“Everywhere that family goes, they leave a trail of garbage behind them. Tonight they tried to make an example out of Leopold and McPugg. And when that didn’t work, Dick runs his mouth.”

Dominic leans in closer to the camera.

“Here’s the thing, Dick. I don’t do warnings. I don’t do ambushes. I don’t do four-on-one.”

He taps his chest.

“I do this face to face.”

Ryan nods, trying to keep control of the interview.

Ryan Mercer:
“Dominic, later tonight you’re also in the Fatal Four Way to determine the next challenger for the Convergent Championship. You’ll be facing Jax Brenner, Ashen Vicar, and Dick Albano himself. Does what just happened change your focus at all?”

Dominic’s expression hardens even more.

Dominic Marconi:
“No. It sharpens it.”

He turns slightly, pacing once.

“I respect Jax. I don’t pretend to understand Ashen Vicar. But Dick?”

He stops and looks dead into the lens again.

“Dick Albano is going to find out tonight that you don’t get to hide behind your family when you step into my ring.”

He steps back next to Ryan.

“One way or another, this ends.”

Ryan swallows, then nods.

Ryan Mercer:
“Dominic Marconi—clearly ready for both the Albano family and the Fatal Four Way later tonight.”

She turns back to camera.

“Back to you.”

[CAMERA CUT – COMMENTARY DESK]

J.R. Holland:
“Fans, what started as a hard-fought tag team match ended in absolute chaos. Bruiser McPugg and Leopold Dilg picked up a big win, but the Albanos made sure nobody was celebrating for long.”

C.K.:
“Oh please, J.R. — that’s called sending a message. If you walk around like heroes, you should expect consequences.”

J.R. Holland:
“Consequences? Tony and Salvatore Albano couldn’t handle losing, and Pierre Boulay called in reinforcements — Dirty Dick Albano and Vinnie Albano — turning it into a four-on-two assault.”

C.K.:
“And then, shockingly, the Marconis show up to play neighborhood watch.”

J.R. Holland:
“Dominic and Rolf Marconi, along with Tony Ricca, cleared the ring — but not before Dirty Dick Albano made it very clear that this is far from over.”

C.K.:
“Good. I love unresolved business.”

J.R. Holland:
“Well if there’s one thing certain, Clarkus, tensions are boiling over — and later tonight, Dirty Dick Albano and Dominic Marconi are both in that Fatal Four Way to determine the next challenger to the Convergent Championship.”

C.K.:
“Which means somebody’s night is about to get very uncomfortable.”

[CAMERA CUT – BACKSTAGE]

Ryan Mercer stands in a more cramped, noisier section of the arena. She takes a breath, steadies herself, and turns toward the camera. Beside her is Dirty Dick Albano, towel over his shoulder, scowl on his face, eyes full of venom.

A cartoon of two people

AI-generated content may be incorrect.

Ryan Mercer:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here with Dirty Dick Albano. Dick, moments ago you and the rest of the Albano family were involved in that post-match attack, and earlier tonight Dominic Marconi had some very strong words for you—”

Dick cuts her off immediately, stepping closer to the camera.

Dirty Dick Albano:
“Strong words?”

He laughs, but there’s no humor in it.

“Let me explain something real slow for everybody at home. The Marconis don’t run HCW. They pretend to. They walk around like they’re the good guys, like this place belongs to them.”

He points at the lens.

“It doesn’t.”

Ryan tries to keep control of the interview.

Ryan Mercer:
“Dominic said he wants this handled face to face—”

Dirty Dick Albano:
“Oh, he’s gonna get his wish.”

Dick steps even closer.

“Dominic Marconi, you stuck your nose in family business. You ran out there like some kind of hero. And now? Now you’re in my way.”

He straightens up.

“And later tonight, in that Fatal Four Way, I don’t need my family. I don’t need Pierre. I don’t need anybody.”

He smirks.

“I’m gonna take your shot at the Convergent Championship… and then I’m gonna deal with you.”

Ryan nods, clearly feeling the tension.

Ryan Mercer:
“Dirty Dick Albano, one of the competitors in tonight’s Fatal Four Way.”

She turns back to the camera.

“Back to you.”

[CAMERA CUT – ARENA]

We come back from the tense exchange backstage with Ryan Mercer and ‘Dirty’ Dick Albano to the roar of the Charleston crowd.

J.R. Holland:
“You can feel the tension building here tonight. We’ve already seen the Albanos stirring up trouble, and now we’re heading into what could be one of the most emotionally charged matches of the evening.”

C.K.:
“Emotionally charged? It’s Ethan Hayes. He’s about to get a very expensive reality check.”

Ethan Hayes’ music hits and the crowd responds warmly as he steps out onto the stage, slapping hands along the aisle, focused but energized. He pauses at the top of the ramp, takes in the moment, and points toward the ring before heading down.

J.R. Holland:
“Ethan Hayes is one of the most respected competitors in HCW. He’s earned everything he’s gotten through hard work and consistency.”

C.K.:
“Yeah, and tonight he gets rewarded with a front-row seat to a Jett Sterling production.”

Hayes steps into the ring, climbs the corner, and nods to the fans before settling in and waiting.

The lights shift.

Gold light floods the arena.

Then Jett Sterling’s music hits—and the reaction turns loud and hostile.

Sterling steps out wearing a smug grin, soaking in the boos like applause. He points at himself, mouths something to the camera, and slowly makes his way down the ramp like he owns the building.

J.R. Holland:
“Jett Sterling has made a lot of noise since arriving in HCW — and not all of it inside the ring.”

C.K.:
“Noise? He’s made headlines. He’s made money. And tonight, he’s about to make an example out of Ethan Hayes.”

Sterling climbs onto the apron, wipes his boots, poses for the hard camera, and steps inside, never taking his eyes off Hayes.

The referee checks both men as the crowd buzzes with anticipation.

J.R. Holland:
“This one has been brewing all night.”

C.K.:
“And it’s about to pay off.”

[BELL ABOUT TO RING…]

Jett Sterling comes out of the gate like he owns the ring, immediately trying to impose his power with a sudden Front Powerslam attempt, but Ethan Hayes shows his experience, shifting his weight and slipping out before Sterling can fully plant him.

J.R. Holland:
“Ethan Hayes was ready for that. You can’t rush a veteran like Hayes, even with all of Sterling’s size and confidence.”

C.K.:
“You see, J.R., that’s what happens when Jett gets bored and starts experimenting.”

Sterling smirks and goes right back to the air, climbing high and crashing down with a Frog Splash — but Hayes again counters with another Reverse of Fate, popping the crowd as Sterling rolls away in irritation.  His patience starts to wear thin. He charges again, leaps again — and this time the Frog Splash finally connects flush. Hayes grimaces, clutching his ribs, and Sterling immediately follows with another, driving the air straight out of him.

C.K.:
“There we go. That’s the lesson part of the lesson.”

Sterling keeps pouring it on — heavy strikes, a grinding midsection combo, and constant pressure that keeps Hayes from building any sustained offense.  He cuts Ethan off by twisting him down into a Figure Four Leglock, wrenching back and leaning into the hold. Hayes screams in pain, clawing toward the ropes — and finally manages to roll and kick his way free.

But the damage is done.

Sterling hauls him up and rattles him with the Three Amigos, tossing Hayes around the ring like he’s proving a point rather than just trying to win.

C.K.:
“This is dominance. This is what a real star looks like when he decides to stop playing.”

Hayes refuses to quit. With one last surge of energy, he explodes forward and drills Sterling with a huge Alley-Oop Facebuster, planting him and drawing a big reaction from the Charleston crowd.

J.R. Holland:
“That might be the opening Hayes needs!”

Hayes tries to capitalize — but Sterling pops up, furious, and snatches control again before Hayes can mount anything serious.

Sterling pulls him in, sets his feet, and drives him into the mat with the Skull Crushing Finale.

He hooks the leg.

J.R. Holland:
“He nailed it! That’s it!”

1… 2… 3!

Winner: Jett Sterling via Skull Crushing Finale

Sterling rises immediately, not even looking relieved — just satisfied. He stands over Hayes, sneering, then spreads his arms and soaks in the boos like they’re applause.

C.K.:
“Another problem solved. Another lesson taught.”

J.R. Holland:
“Ethan Hayes showed a lot of heart, but tonight belonged to Jett Sterling. Love him or hate him, he keeps backing up every word.”

Sterling steps over Hayes, poses one more time, and slowly makes his way up the ramp, absolutely convinced the entire show revolves around him.

[BACKSTAGE – HCW SHOCKWAVE]

The camera cuts to the backstage interview area. The lighting is low and cool, with a faint haze hanging in the air. Ryan Mercer stands ready with a microphone, composed but clearly a little on edge. Beside her stands the imposing, silent figure of Ashen Vicar, Master of the White Flame—arms folded behind his back, posture rigid, eyes forward, unmoving.

Ryan Mercer:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am joined right now by a man who has cast a very long shadow over HCW in recent weeks… Ashen Vicar, the Master of the White Flame. Ashen, later tonight you step into the main event— a Fatal Four Way to determine the number one contender to the Convergent Title. You’ll be sharing that ring with ‘Dirty’ Dick Albano, Dominic Marconi, and Jax Brenner. What should we expect from you in a match with so many unpredictable elements?”

Ashen Vicar does not look at Ryan at first. He slowly turns his head toward the camera. His voice is calm, deep, and measured—almost ceremonial.

Ashen Vicar:
“Expectation… is a chain forged by weaker men. I do not enter contests. I enter reckonings.”

He takes a slow step forward, the camera subtly adjusting to keep him in frame.

Ashen Vicar:
“Four stand in the circle. Only one will remain unburned. The others will learn what it is to be… refined.”

Ryan keeps her composure, but swallows slightly before continuing.

Ryan Mercer:
“You’ve been very… specific in your language since arriving in HCW. ‘Refined.’ ‘Purged.’ Some would say this sounds less like competition and more like a crusade. Is this about winning a title opportunity… or is this something else entirely?”

Ashen finally turns fully toward Ryan, though his eyes still seem to look through her rather than at her.

Ashen Vicar:
“Titles are symbols. Crowns. Distractions. The White Flame does not seek symbols.”

A brief pause.

Ashen Vicar:
“It seeks truth.”

He slowly raises one hand, palm open, as if weighing something unseen.

Ashen Vicar:
“Albano hides behind appetite. Marconi hides behind legacy. Brenner hides behind fury. All of them hide.”

He closes his hand into a fist.

Ashen Vicar:
“Tonight… there will be nowhere left to stand in the shade.”

Ryan Mercer:
“Jax Brenner in particular is known for thriving in chaos and violence. He doesn’t back down from anyone. Do you see him as the greatest threat in this match?”

Ashen’s expression does not change, but there is a subtle tightening around his eyes.

Ashen Vicar:
“Fire does not fear the storm. It welcomes the wind.”

Another step closer to the camera.

Ashen Vicar:
“If Jax Brenner wishes to test himself against the White Flame… he will learn the difference between rage… and purpose.”

Ryan nods, then asks one final question.

Ryan Mercer:
“And when this is over—when the smoke clears—what will the rest of HCW see?”

Ashen finally looks directly into the lens.

Ashen Vicar:
“They will see what remains… after burning.”

He lowers his head slightly, then turns and walks out of frame without another word.

Ryan watches him go for a moment, then turns back to the camera.

Ryan Mercer:
“There you have it. Ashen Vicar, the Master of the White Flame, heading into the main event tonight with a very clear—and very unsettling—mission.”

The camera fades out.

[CAMERA CUT – COMMENTARY DESK]

J.R. Holland:
“Fans, we are moments away from our main event. A Fatal Four Way to determine the number one contender to the Convergent Championship. We’ve heard from every competitor tonight — and none more unsettling than Ashen Vicar.”

C.K.:
“Unsettling is one word for it. But let’s not pretend the other three are choirboys. You’ve got ‘Dirty’ Dick Albano, who’s been stirring up trouble all night. You’ve got Dominic Marconi, who’s already been in a war with that family. And you’ve got Jax Brenner, who treats chaos like oxygen.”

J.R. Holland:
“And there are no safety nets tonight. The Albano Mafia and Pierre Boulay are banned from ringside. Molly Mason is not here with Jax Brenner. No backup. No interference. This will be settled in the ring.”

C.K.:
“Which means somebody’s plans are about to fall apart.”

J.R. Holland:
“One fall to a finish. Four men. One opportunity. Let’s go to the ring.”

Boos erupt as “Dirty” Dick Albano steps out onto the stage alone — no entourage, no Boulay, no family. He looks irritated, jaw tight, jawing at the camera as he makes his way down the ramp.

J.R. Holland:
“For once, Dick Albano is on his own. No family, no Pierre Boulay — and you can tell he doesn’t like it.”

C.K.:
“Yeah, well, tonight he doesn’t get to hide behind anyone. Let’s see how he handles that.”

Albano slides into the ring, pacing like a caged animal.

The crowd rises as Dominic Marconi steps onto the stage, focused and intense. He doesn’t play to the crowd — his eyes are locked straight on the ring, and especially on Albano.

J.R. Holland:
“Dominic Marconi has had enough of the Albano family tonight. He’s already promised to deal with Dick Albano face to face.”

C.K.:
“And now he gets his chance. No excuses, no numbers game.”

Dominic enters the ring and never takes his eyes off Albano.

The energy spikes as Jax Brenner storms out onto the stage — no Molly Mason, no entourage — just Jax and a mission. He cracks his neck and marches toward the ring.

J.R. Holland:
“Jax Brenner is flying solo tonight, and that might make him even more dangerous.”

C.K.:
“He doesn’t need a corner. He just needs targets.”

Jax steps into the ring and immediately starts sizing up everyone.

The lights dim.

A low, ominous hum fills the arena as Ashen Vicar appears at the top of the ramp, standing perfectly still for a long moment before beginning his slow, deliberate walk to the ring.  His sym bol flashes up on the Omegatron.

A white hand with fire in a circle

J.R. Holland:
“There is something fundamentally different about Ashen Vicar. He does not walk like a man going to a match. He walks like a man going to a ritual.”

C.K.:
“I don’t know what he is… but I know nobody in that ring is comfortable right now.”

Ashen steps into the ring, removes his robe, and stands silently in his corner.

J.R. Holland:
“Four men. One opportunity. This is your main event.”

C.K.:
“Somebody’s future changes tonight.”

[REFEREE CALLS FOR THE BELL…]

The bell rings and all four men stand in a tense standoff, none of them eager to make the first mistake.

J.R. Holland:
“This is one of those matches where the first thirty seconds can decide the next twenty minutes. One wrong move, and you’re fighting from behind the rest of the way.”

C.K.:
“Or you let someone else be brave and you clean up the mess. That’s how smart people survive these things.”

Jax Brenner and Dominic Marconi are the first to move, locking up and shoving for position. They jockey for leverage until Jax finally muscles Dominic off balance and plants him with a hard bodyslam, sending a clear message to everyone in the ring.

C.K.:
“That’s how you announce yourself. No speeches.”

Before Jax can follow up, “Dirty” Dick Albano dives in from behind and clamps on a smothering chinlock, trying to drag the big man down and drain him early.

J.R. Holland:
“Albano knows better than to trade power with Jax. He’s trying to wear him down instead.”

The hold doesn’t last long.

Ashen Vicar steps in, calm and precise, and snaps Albano’s head back with the Judicator’s Blow, the impact echoing through the building. Albano stumbles away, stunned.

J.R. Holland:
“That strike… that’s not just an uppercut. That’s a statement.”

The match immediately fractures into chaos.

Dominic tries to get Jax grounded again, but Jax powers out. Albano jumps back in with cheap shots. Ashen moves through the chaos like something methodical and cold, picking his moments and striking with unnerving precision.

For a brief moment, something rare happens — all three men turn on Albano at once.

Ashen drops him with Excommunication. Jax follows with a crushing bodyslam. Dominic snaps on a Figure-Four Armbar, trying to punish Albano’s arm while the crowd roars.

C.K.:
“Look at that. Even his enemies can’t stand him.”

Albano survives by raking Dominic’s eyes and rolling free, and the ring explodes into a four-way brawl again.

Now it’s just violence in rotation.

Ashen plants Jax with Writ of Flame. Jax answers with a knee lift that folds Ashen. Dominic hammers Albano with a backbreaker. Albano fires back with thumbs to the eye and headbutts. Nobody can get control for more than a few seconds.

J.R. Holland:
“This is exactly what a Fatal Four Way turns into. You don’t win these by being the best wrestler — you win them by surviving longer than everyone else.”

Ashen and Dominic square off in the center and trade brutal shots — Judicator’s Blow against Dominic’s heavy forearms — neither man giving an inch. Albano and Jax crash into each other near the ropes, Albano landing a rising knee before Jax answers with a savage forearm.

Moments later, Jax finally catches Albano clean and drives him into the mat with The Pickaxe, shaking the ring.

C.K.:
“That’s what happens when you annoy bigger animals.”

Ashen turns and catches Dominic with the Ashen Wake, but before he can capitalize, the other two are back on him. The match collapses into another dogpile of bodies and fists.

For several minutes, the action is relentless and impossible to control. Everyone is hitting everyone. Every time someone drops, someone else is there to take advantage.

J.R. Holland:
“Nobody can get separation! Nobody can get a clean pin attempt in this chaos!”

Dominic finally finds an opening and tries to isolate Jax again, but Jax muscles him up and hurls him over the top rope, sending him crashing to the floor.

Jax turns back into the ring and stomps Albano into the canvas, then drops down for the cover.

1…

Albano kicks out.

C.K.:
“Too early. You don’t rush a moment like this.”

Ashen is back on Dominic, drilling him with another Judicator’s Blow, and later cuts Jax down with the White Flame Purge, but every time someone goes down for a pin, someone else breaks it up.

The match hits a fever pitch.

Albano gouges Jax’s eyes. Jax answers by hauling him up and gutwrenching him into the Bigfoot Bomb. Dominic and Ashen collide again, trading throws and strikes like neither man can afford to slow down.

J.R. Holland:
“This has become a war of attrition. Whoever has anything left in the tank is going to win this.”

Ashen and Dominic grapple again. Dominic briefly traps Ashen in a bearhug, but Ashen slips free and answers with a German suplex. Albano stumbles back into the fray. Jax keeps coming like a machine.

Then, in a sudden opening, Dominic charges Jax.

Jax explodes forward and crushes Dominic with the Sasquatch Stomp.

He drops for the cover.

Winner and #1 Contender to the Convergent Championship: Jax Brenner

J.R. Holland:
“He did it! Jax Brenner just outlasted all three men!”

But the match isn’t really over.

Dominic rolls to the outside and immediately Dirty Dick Albano is on him. The two start swinging wildly, trading punches and crashing into equipment.

J.R. Holland:
“And here we go again — Dominic and Albano are taking this somewhere else!”

They brawl all the way up the ramp and disappear through the curtain, still fighting.

In the ring, Ashen Vicar slowly rises, looks around, and then does something unsettling.

He slides out of the ring and walks into the crowd.

No celebration. No frustration. He simply moves through the audience… and vanishes.

C.K.:
“…Did he just leave?”

Jax Brenner remains alone in the ring.

He looks around at the empty spaces where his enemies were, then throws his arms up as the crowd roars.

J.R. Holland:
“Jax Brenner stands tall. He’s the number one contender. And he’s earned it the hard way.”

Jax climbs the corner, pounding his chest, soaking in the moment.

C.K.:
“Like him or not, he survived. That’s all that matters.”

J.R. Holland:
“Ladies and gentlemen, Jax Brenner is now the number one contender to the Convergent Championship. What a night, what a main event, and what a road we’re headed down.”

C.K.:
“And something tells me this is just the beginning.”

The camera lingers on Jax Brenner celebrating in the ring as HCW Shockwave fades to black.
