HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2024 #1020 – 7/13/24

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  We have a lot of great action tonight that will include two title matches and an appearance from the Ladies Champion.

The show begins with pyro going off and the fans in attendance popping huge for the show tonight.  Music hits and we hear “KORBI KONG SMASH” blast from the loudspeakers and the crowd explodes as the Ladies Champion Korbi Kong makes her way out.  She stands on the stage soaking in the applause from the fans.  She finally begins the trek to the ring shaking hands with fans and making a pit stop at her new fan club Clan Kong.  The fans here are extremely loud as their leader shakes hands with almost everyone there and then continues her trek to the ring.  Once in the ring, she gets on the mic.  She thanks the fans for attending tonight and backing her as she made her way back to the Ladies Champion.  She says she is addressing Luciana’s challenge.  The crowd boos as the mere mention of the former champion.  Korbi says that Luciana has to be given credit where credit is due.  She was a very dominant champion but her reign of terror is over and now, it’s the year of the Kong.  The crowd pops.  She says that she officially is accepting Luciana’s rematch challenge for the Saturday Night Showdown show in a week.  She promises to show the fans not only why she was able to defeat Luciana but will be THEIR champion.  They pop again.  Korbi climbs the corner turnbuckle holding her title high and then she leaves.  Upon heading behind the curtain, we are now ready for our matches to get underway.

Match #1:  The Freedom Fighters vs the Snake Pit

The Snake Pit (Leiton, Niven, and Tobias Snake) make their way out first.  The fans boo as the trio does a fist bump on the stage and Tobias and Niven head to the ring.  Leiton heads to the back.  Next, the Freedom Fighters (Flash and Justice) make their way out to a decent pop from the crowd.  Once the match began, both teams held the advantage for different portions of the match.  Once we got to the 23 minute mark, Tobias hits Flash with a Hook and Ladder facebuster and goes for the pin but Justice barely makes the save in time.  Tobias hits a running crossbody before tagging Niven in.  Flash nails a Reverse Spike Hurricanrana and hooks the leg for the 1-2-3 before Tobias even noticed what had happened.  The Freedom Fighters get the win and the fans pop for them.  The Snake Pit heads to the back.  The Freedom Fighters celebrate the win before heading back on their own.  (25 min)

Backstage, Owen ‘Orange Fury’ Zestwell is cutting a promo for him match against Evan Stockwell for the TV title.  He tells Evan not to underestimate the power of the Orange Fury Force.

Match #2:  Adam Jameson vs Negropolis

Negropolis makes his way out first to massive booing from the crowd.  He flips them off and continues on his way to the ring.  Adam Jameson makes his way out and receives a solid pop from the crowd.  He makes his way into the ring and is immediately attacked by Negropolis.  Adam immediately fought back and actually dominated the entire match.  At the 25 minute mark, Adam hits a gut buster but Negropolis hits a snap suplex.  He goes for the pin and puts his feet on the ropes but the ref sees it and stops counting at 2.  Negropolis complains to the ref.  He hits Adam with a Dragon suplex and then showboats.  He turns around only for Adam to connect with another gut buster and rolls Negropolis up for the 1-2-3.  Adam Jameson gets the win and the crowd pops for him.  He makes his way to the back.  Negropolis continues to argue with the ref but eventually leaves.  (27 min)

Backstage, TV Champion Evan Stockwell is with his manager Ruth Heartles and cuts a promo degrading Owen Zestwell as an old fogie who has no reason to be in a wrestling ring.  He then reminds us he single-handedly sent the Banker packing from HCW and the world is a better place for it.

Match #3:   The Wicked Prophet vs Outback Oscar

Outback Oscar came down first to a pop from the crowd.  When it was the Wicked Prophet’s turn, the crowd went negative on him.  The match was intense from start to finish with Prophet not realizing the challenge he was up against. Despite Outback Oscar's resilience and crowd support, The Wicked Prophet maintained control with several punishing moves. The Wicked Prophet repeatedly locked in the Crucifix Clutch, but Outback Oscar refused to submit each time. Outback Oscar fought back with moves like the Swinging Neckbreaker and Full Nelson Face Smash, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. The Wicked Prophet's relentless attacks, including Prop 8 and Baptism of Fire, wore down his opponent. Even when Outback Oscar managed to kick out of multiple pin attempts, the heel continued his onslaught. Towards the end, The Wicked Prophet executed the Unrighteous Dominion, setting up for the final pin along with a fast count from the referee, "Fast Count" Frank. The match ended with The Wicked Prophet's victory, much to the dismay of the fans. Outback Oscar's valiant effort earned him admiration, but the night belonged to the devious Wicked Prophet.  (20 min)

We head backstage with the US Champion Dennis Marshall.  Dennis says he’s the #1 contender for the World Title and once he defeats Jack Lumber, he will be the first dual champion in years.

Match #4:   TV title match:  Evan Stockwell w/the Banker vs Owen ‘Orange Fury’ Zestwell.

Owen made his way out first to a solid pop from the home crowd.  Owen shook hands with the fans as he made his way to the ring.  He climbed in and after climbing the second turnbuckle, the fans began an “Orange Fury” chant which brought a smile to his face.  What didn’t was when his music was abruptly cut off and the TV Champion Evan Stockwell and his manager Ruth Heartless made their way out.  The fans booed heavily and the dastardly duo just soaked it in before beginning the trek to the ring.  Evan climbed in and held the TV title high as Ruth stood next to him holding the briefcase.   Evan looked at Owen and scoffed at him before shaking his head.  He handed the title to the ref and the match began but not before Evan demanded this be a no DQ match.  Owen quickly agreed and Ruth smiled her devious smile.

[Scene: The backstage area is buzzing with activity. The camera focuses on ‘The Commando’ Zack Brown, who is standing confidently, his eyes burning with determination. The interviewer approaches him.]

Interviewer: Zack, tonight you face the US Champion Dennis Marshall. He’s been vocal about looking past you and on to the World Champion Jack Lumber.  He said he would make you regret stepping into the ring with him. What’s your response to that?

Zack Brown: [Smirking] You know, Dennis Marshall has a big mouth, and he’s been running it non-stop. He thinks he can just walk over me, like I’m some kind of stepping stone on his path to glory. But let me tell you something, Dennis. You might be the US Champion, but tonight, you’re stepping into the ring with ‘The Commando.’

[Zack’s expression turns serious, his voice filled with intensity.]

Zack Brown: You see, Dennis, I’ve been through battles that would make most men crumble. I’ve faced opponents who underestimated me, just like you are right now. And every single time, I’ve come out on top. You think looking past me is a smart move? It’s the biggest mistake you’ll ever make.

[The camera cuts to Dennis Marshall, who is watching the promo on a monitor backstage. He scoffs and shakes his head, clearly unimpressed.]

Zack Brown: Tonight, when that bell rings, you’re going to realize that underestimating ‘The Commando’ was your first and last mistake. I’m not just here to compete; I’m here to win. And when I do, you’ll be the one regretting ever looking past me. So, Dennis, get ready, because tonight, you’re in for the fight of your life.

[The camera zooms in on Zack’s determined face as he walks away, ready for the match.]

[Scene fades out.]

Match #5:  The Main Event:  US Title Match:  Dennis Marshall vs Zack Brown.

‘The Commando’ Zack Brown comes out first to a massive pop from the crowd.  He takes the time to shake hands with the fans as he makes his way to the ring.  He walks around the ring acknowledging the fans and then enters the ring.  He doesn’t have to wait long as Dennis Marshall’s music hits and the fans go sour on the US Champion.  Dennis flips them off as he steps on stage and continues to do so as he makes his way to the ring.  Each step is met with higher levels of distaste.  He wipes his feet before entering the ring and steps through the ropes.  He walks by Zack and climbs the turnbuckle holding his title high.  The booing intensifies.  He steps down.  The ref asks for the belt and Dennis refuses visiting each corner and doing the same thing.  Finally, he hands the title to the ref so our match can begin.

Zack Brown gets the win via submission and becomes the NEW US CHAMPION!!!  The fans pop huge for him.  This was a very hard fought victory and he’s clearly exhausted.  The ref hands him the US Title and he holds it proudly high and the fans pop HUGE.  Just then, he is blindsided by the Rich Athlete who stomps and kicks the newly crowned Champion not giving him a chance to defend himself.  The Rich Athlete picks Zack up and nails him with the Fortune’s Fist before locking in the Luxurious Leglock.  Zack couldn’t get free even though the ref was trying to help.  The ref did get shoved down by Ruth Heartless who joined them in the ring.  The Rich Athlete finally let up and demanded a mic.

The Rich Athlete grabs a mic and raises it to his lips, waiting for the boos to subside.]

The Rich Athlete: [Laughing] Oh, you all thought this was Zack Brown’s big moment, didn’t you? You thought this was his fairytale ending. Well, guess what? Fairytales don’t exist in my world!

[The boos grow louder, and The Rich Athlete revels in the heat.]

The Rich Athlete: Zack Brown, you might have fooled these idiots into thinking you’re a hero, but to me, you’re nothing but a stepping stone. You see, I don’t care about your hard-fought victory or your little moment of glory. You caused me to get my first loss in HCW and now all I care about is making sure everyone knows that The Rich Athlete is the true star of this show!

[He points down at Zack, who is struggling to get up.]

The Rich Athlete: Look at you, Zack. You’re lying there, clutching that title like it means something. But let me tell you, it means nothing when you’re up against me. I am the future of this business, and I will not be overshadowed by a nobody like you!

[The crowd’s boos are deafening, but The Rich Athlete continues, undeterred.]

The Rich Athlete: And as for you people, you can boo all you want. It doesn’t change the fact that I am better than each and every one of you. I have the money, the talent, and the looks. I am the total package, and there’s nothing any of you can do about it!

[He turns his attention back to Zack, who is now on his knees, still holding the title.]

The Rich Athlete: Zack, enjoy your little moment while it lasts, because I’m coming for that title. And when I do, there will be no fairytales, no happy endings. Just cold, hard reality. The reality that The Rich Athlete is the best there is, and there’s nothing you or anyone else can do to change that!

[He drops the mic with a smirk, and the camera captures the furious faces of the fans as the show fades to black.]

That was intense! How do you think Zack will respond to this brutal attack and harsh words from The Rich Athlete?  I guess you’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

Jack Lumber makes an appearance and is confronted by Dennis

Dennis Marshall(face flushed, fists clenched) Jack, you lumberjack wannabe! You think that World Championship around your waist makes you invincible? Well, I’ve got news for you—I’m the US Champion, and I’m not here to play second fiddle. I want a shot at that gold, and when I win, I’ll be a dual champion. Dennis “Double Trouble” Marshall, they’ll call me.

Jack Lumber(leaning against a crate, World Championship slung over his shoulder) Dennis, Dennis, Dennis. You’re like a mosquito buzzing in my ear. US Champion? Cute. But the World Championship? It’s not just a title; it’s a legacy. It’s the weight of history, the echoes of legends. You want a shot? Fine. But when you step into that ring with me, you’ll realize why they call me “The Redwood Rampage.”

Dennis Marshall(getting in Jack’s face) Redwood Rampage? More like “The Overrated Oak.” You’ve been chopping down opponents, but you haven’t faced someone like me. I’m not just a wrestler; I’m a force of nature. And when I hit you with the Marshall Maneuver, those redwoods will tremble.

Jack Lumber(smirking) Dennis, you’re a pebble in my boot. But fine, challenge accepted. When we collide, I’ll show you what it means to be a true champion. And when I chop you down, you’ll be nothing more than kindling for my legacy.

(They lock eyes, the tension thick. The World Championship hangs in the balance, and the arena buzzes with anticipation.)

Dennis Marshall(whispers) Jack, prepare for a storm. Because when I win that title, it won’t be just a victory—it’ll be a reckoning.

Jack Lumber(leaning in) Dennis, you’re about to learn that in the forest of wrestling, there’s only one apex predator. And spoiler alert—it’s not you.

(They part ways, the challenge set. The stage is set for a clash of champions.)

Elsewhere backstage, Mr. X ambushed Biceps Bannerman and DESTROYED him with multiple chair shots.  It took a while for security to get there as they had their hands full with Lumber/Marshall.  By the time they got there, Biceps was a bloody mess.   Mr. X threw down the weapon and just walked away.

Match #5:  The Main Event:  Six Man Title Match:  Dominic Marconi, JR Fargo & Alejandro Guerrero vs the Flaggship & Apollo Gyze.

The Flaggship made their way out first and Apollo joined them after his catchphrase “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” blared out of the loudspeakers.  The fans booed the trio as they headed to the ring.  They interacted with the fans (not in a good way) with all three men grabbing signs from the fans and tearing them up.  They get into the ring and Flagg yells that they don’t have all day.  The music changes and the fans pop HUGE as the Six Man Tag Team Champions Dominic Marconi, Alejandro Guerrero and Juan Raul Fargo make their way out.  They interact with the fans and even take a couple of quick pictures with them before heading into the ring.  They get into the ring and each man climbs a turnbuckle holding their titles high.  They step down and hand the belts to the ref who, after holding them up (signifying the belts are on the line), hands them to a ring attendant.  The match then begins.

In an intense six-man tag team match, the Champions consisting of Dominic Marconi, Alejandro Guerrero, and Juan Raul Fargo clashed with the heel faction Flaggship (Col. Flagg and Rex Rampage) alongside Apollo Gyze.

The match started with Guerrero and Flagg exchanging powerful moves, with Guerrero's bulldog earning him an early lead. Guerrero quickly tagged in Juan Raul Fargo, who faced a relentless onslaught from the heels. Flagg, Rampage, and Gyze worked in unison, executing brutal double team maneuvers that took a toll on Fargo.

Despite absorbing significant punishment, Fargo managed to counter with a kick and stomp before Marconi joined the fray for a brief double team. However, Flagg's snap suplex proved devastating. As the match progressed, the heels continued their coordinated attacks, with Gyze and Rampage inflicting severe damage. Fargo showed resilience, countering with moves like the Raul-Ram to the ring post.

Fargo's endurance shone through as he withstood another wave of attacks and successfully used foreign objects to turn the tide. Despite a strong headbutt drop from Flagg, Fargo managed to hold on. Flagg attempted a pin after a snap suplex, but Fargo kicked out, maintaining his team's chances.

The match saw frequent tags and strategic double teaming from both sides. Fargo, demonstrating remarkable stamina, fought off multiple assaults, eventually locking Flagg in a sleeperhold. Just before this decisive moment, 'The Bounty Hunter' Jake Montrose stormed the ring and struck Col. Flagg with a chair, causing him to stumble directly into Fargo's sleeperhold. The impact of the chair shot left Flagg dazed, and he quickly passed out in the hold.

This unexpected interference allowed Fargo to secure the victory for his team and help them retain the Six Man Tag Team Championship. The match highlighted the strategic coordination and resilience of both teams, with the faces ultimately emerging victorious through Fargo's unyielding determination, tactical prowess, and a timely assist from Montrose.

As the final bell rang, signaling the victory of Dominic Marconi, Alejandro Guerrero, and Juan Raul Fargo, the celebration was abruptly cut short. Dominic Marconi barely had time to catch his breath before the New Sicilians, Dick and Vinnie Albano, stormed the ring. They blindsided Marconi, delivering a brutal beatdown that sent him reeling. The Albano brothers’ ruthless assault continued as they fought their way up the ramp, leaving chaos in their wake.

Meanwhile, back in the ring, Juan Raul Fargo and Alejandro Guerrero were ambushed by another menacing duo. The Fangs of Despair, Dr. Red Fang and Nightfang, accompanied by the sinister Azrael, made their presence felt. With eerie precision, they launched a coordinated attack on the exhausted champions. Dr. Red Fang's strikes were calculated and devastating, while Nightfang's agility and ferocity overwhelmed Fargo and Guerrero.

Azrael orchestrated the assault with a chilling calmness, directing the Fangs of Despair to target the weakened wrestlers. The crowd watched in shock as the ring turned into a scene of carnage. Juan Raul Fargo and Alejandro Guerrero fought valiantly but were ultimately overpowered by the relentless onslaught.

The heels stood tall, victorious in their ruthless ambush. The heels raised their arms in triumph, basking in the boos and jeers of the outraged crowd.

Dominic Marconi, still brawling with the New Sicilians up the ramp, glanced back at the ring, fury in his eyes. The night had taken a dark turn, and the message from the heels was clear: no one was safe. The brutal display left the audience in stunned silence, setting the stage for even more intense rivalries and confrontations in the battles to come.

There is still animosity between everyone and nothing will be settled in the short terms.  Stay Tuned for more HCW action.
