HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #886 – 2/17

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Well, we knew if we put the nose to the grindstone that we would get caught up…and we did.  We’re back on pace to resume our weekly shows provided something crazy doesn’t happen (or a certain writer gets lazy again).

The show begins with a limo pulling up outside.  The World Champion and King of HCW the Wicked Prophet steps out.  He looks on with disdain that there was no red carpet for him to walk so he just ignored everyone.

Backstage, GM Max McGillicutty is putting names on a board.  He says that a lucky winner gets a shot at the World Title tonight.  He spins the wheel and it gets stuck between the Banker and Phat Sol.  The door to the office slams open and the Wicked Prophet marches into the office.  “Why was there no red carpet for me…and what the hell are you doing?”  Max says the red carpet is at the cleaners and that Prophet just interrupted seeing who was going to get the title match tonight.  He looks back and the wheel and sees that the stomping Prophet did moved the wheel ever so slightly.  “Looks like you get Phat Sol tonight” Max says.  “Who or what is a fatty bowl?”  A disgusted look crosses his face and he leaves before Max could respond.

Pyro goes off and our first match is ready to get underway.  First, Starbuck Steel makes his way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He makes his way to the ring and enters.  As he’s getting the crowd psyched up, the music changes and we hear “I’VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS FOR YA” and out comes ‘Bad News’ Marvin Barnes.  He is booed as he makes his way to the ring.  He responds by flipping off the fans.  He gets into the ring and tries to take a cheap shot at Starbuck but it backfires.  As the match begins, Starbuck dominates allowing Marvin 6 offensive moves in the 15 minutes the match went on.  Starbuck delivered a Hangman’s DDT and got the 3 count at the 15 minute mark.  The fans pop huge for him and he makes his way to the back.  Marvin shrugs off help from the ref and stomps his way to the back.

Backstage, Phat Sol says he heard every word the Wicked Prophet said about him.  He says tonight, the so-called King of HCW will know his name when he takes the World title.

Next up, newcomer Derek Deveraux comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He shakes hands with the fans and enters the ring.  He doesn’t wait long for his opponent Dash ‘Smooooth’ Woodbrick makes his way out.  The co-holder of the Tag Team titles gets the crap booed out of him (and for good reason… he sucks).  Derek took control of the match early but Dash began fighting back until Derek threw him out of the ring.  Dash tried to get back in and complained to the ref when Derek wouldn’t back away so he threw his hands up and left.  The ref kept counting and upon reaching 10, he counted Dash out and awarded the match via count out to Derek Deveraux.  Derek didn’t like how the match ended but a win is a win.  (6 min)

We waste no time in getting our next match underway.  First, Billy Robbins comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He’s barely in the ring before the music changed and out comes the Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless.  The Banker is booed but he doesn’t seem to care.  He and Ruth make their way down to the ring.  The Banker begins to showboat after the bell rang and Billy stunned him with a Slingshot Smash.  He immediately rolled the Banker up but only got a 1 count.  The Banker hits a Credit Check Chop before sending Billy crashing into the steel post.  He then locks on the ATM Fee Armbar and Billy has no choice but to tap out.  The Banker gets the win in this very short 3 minute match.  The fans boo as he and Ruth gather their belongings and make their way to the back.

Backstage, Derek is attacked by both Dash Woodbrick and Apollo Gyze.  The save comes after a bunch of backstage hands formed a shield to protect Derek from further attacks.  Dash and Apollo walked away laughing but Derek yelled after them he wants them next week.  He will find a tag team partner.

Next up on the card is our Ladies Match.  First, Missy Chick comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  She makes her way to the ring.  As the music changes, the fans go sour as Violet Valkyrie comes out.  They boo her as she makes her way out and just sneers at them.  She gets in the ring and begins mocking the fans and they respond in kind.  Violet had control of the match early on but after Ladies Champion Korbi Kong came out to stand on the stage, it threw Violet off her game.  Missy took advantage of the situation and stunned Violet with a running one-handed bulldog.  Missy rolled Violet up and got the 3 count at the 14 minute mark.  Korbi smirked and then turned and left.  Violet got to her feet and sneered at where Korbi was but then an evil smile crossed her face.  She then turned and left.

GM Max McGillicutty comes out and tells the fans that in just a week, we will have our next PPV Reigning Royalty.  All the men will compete for a chance to meet the current King – the Wicked Prophet – for his crown.  No man since Damian Sandow has held the crown for more than a year.  Past Kings included Damian Sandow, CJ (aka Conan Jones), Wilber Townsend, ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo, ‘Luke Warm’ (was ‘Red Hot’) Lucas Johnston and then our current King the Wicked Prophet.  He announces that this year, we will also crown our first ever ‘Queen’ of HCW.  A ladies battle royal will also be held to see which superstar becomes the first Queen of HCW.  Max then leaves to a huge pop from the crowd and we get ready for our main event.

It’s time for the Main Event.  First, Phat Sol comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He makes his way down and interacts with the fans along the way.  He gets into the ring and continues to psyche up the crowd for the next minute.  The music changes and out comes the King of HCW, the World Champion the Wicked Prophet.  Prophet is being carried to the ring on a throne by his minions (lackeys, not the short yellow guys).  He glances out into the sea of fans and for a brief moment, he sees a flash of yellow but as fast as it came, it was gone.  Prophet makes his lackeys hold the ropes open for him so he can enter the ring.  He gives Phat a sideways glance before climbing the turnbuckles (still decked in his regal attire) and holds the World title high.  The fans booing intensifies.  He sneers at them and steps down handing the title to the ref who holds it up.  He removes his robe and crown handing them delicately to his lackeys.  He stretches a bit and then the bell rings starting this one off.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #885 - 2/10

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  We are almost caught up so let’s get the action started.

Match #1:  Madman Mason vs Adam Jameson.  Mason was the aggressor but no matter what he tried, he could not put Adam down for the 3 count.  The match ended up going to a 30 minute draw but the action didn’t stop there.  As soon as the bell rang ending this fight, the US Champion The Ragin Cajun Rad Gumbo came out and went after Mason screaming “WHERE IS SHE?”  Mason hit Rad with a low blow and then took off up the ramp.  He was smirking but that changed quickly when Gumbo went running after him and chased him to the back.  (30 min draw)

Match #2:  Rematch between Baron von Blood and Maximillian Redbeard.  Redbeard was out to avenge a loss he suffered at the hands of Baron von Blood and dominate he did.  Blood could not keep up with him nor match his ferocity.  26 minutes in, Baron locked in a stomach klaw but Redbeard pulled it off and then rocked Baron before hitting him with a Knoggin Stomp.  He went for a quick pin but Baron kicked out.  Redbeard got to his feet and cupped his hand to his ear and as the fans popped, Redbeard dropped a leg drop on Baron.  He went for the pin and got the 3 count.   Redbeard gets the win and avenges his past loss.  (27 min)

Match #3:  The Freedom Fighters vs the Smashers.  The Smashers thought that brute power was going to win this for them…they were mistaken.  The Freedom Fighters actually provided a bigger challenge and they actually took the match to the Smashers.  This one also ended up going to a 30 min draw and the Freedom Fighters looked like they could continue whereas the Smashers took the ringing of the bell to get the hell out of there.

Match #4:  Hayley Hailstorm vs the British Crippler:  Hayley had a bit of a rough going the first few minutes of the match but as soon as she found her groove, she took over and ran with the ball.  17 minutes in, Hayley hits the Death Valley Driver and goes for a pin but somehow, the Crippler kicked out.  Hayley then rushed the ropes and as soon as the British Crippler got to her feet, Hayley hit a huge lariat.  She makes the cover and this time gets the uncontested 1-2-3.  Hayley wins this one in strong fashion.

Match #5:  Hardcore Title Match:  Dog Collar rules:  Dr. Red Fang © vs Superstar Chic Monroe.  As much as he tried, lightning did NOT strike twice for Chic.  Fang used the dog collar to his advantage numerous times. Whenever Chic went for a high spot, Fang negated it.  After smashing Chic repeatedly with the chain, Fang hit a shoulder smash and he went for a pin.  Leaning on that injured shoulder, Fang got the 1-2-3.  Dr. Red Fang retains his title.  He snarled and growled as he was handed his title.  The Ambassador directed Fang to the back.  (22 min)

Match #6: Main Event:  US Title Match:  The Ragin Cajun Rad Gumbo © vs ‘Luke Warm’ Lucas Johnston.  Gumbo was not in a good mood and he really didn’t give Lucas chance to get much offense in.

Rad Gumbo gets the win but he gets distracted when Madman Mason shows up on stage.  Gumbo yells for his manager and Mason holds up a hand and then motions to the back.  Out comes Ms. Alexandria!  Mason motions for her to go to the ring.  Rad rushes over to her and embraces her.  Mason turns and leaves.  Gumbo checks one last time on his manager and they embrace again.  A happy reunion and with that, our show comes to an end.

We are sure things are not over between Gumbo and Mason so stay tuned.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2021 #884 – 02/07

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  We are working on getting caught up in recapping the shows so let’s get this one going.

Match #1:  Tommy Lightning vs Matches Malone.  Tommy went for a lot of pin attempts in this match but Matches kept kicking out. Tommy kept complaining to the ref and finally, the ref got tired of it and pushed Tommy out of his face.  Malone took advantage of Tommy being stunned at the gall of the ref and hit him with the Lights Out.  Malone made the cover and the ref counted (maybe a hair quick) to 3 awarding the match to Matches.  Tommy was irate and threatened to have the ref fired.

Match #2:  Drew the Canadian Love Machine vs Derek Deveraux:  Drew continues his cheating ways and it doesn’t sit well with the fans.  Derek had control early on but Drew fought back and took the young man down.  It took 19 minutes but Drew managed to steal a win after hitting a Corkscrew Pescado (and his feet on the ropes for leverage).  After the match, Drew continued to beat Derek down but Jack Lumber rushed out and chased Drew off.  Drew said that the war between Jack and himself is coming to a head in just a few weeks.  Drew promised this would be the last time Jack interfered in his business.

Backstage, Tommy approached GM Max McGillicutty and complained about the horrid officiating.  Max told Tommy to ‘man up and get over it’.   Tommy stood there stewing.

Match #3:  Non-title match between Dr. Red Fang and Superstar Chic Monroe.  Monroe asked for a non-title match (the Ambassador was happy to oblige) and said if he could defeat Fang, he wanted a title shot.  Monroe caught the champ off guard and used that to his advantage throughout the match.  The Ambassador got involved a few times and was finally ejected from ringside.  With the Ambassador gone, Monroe took control and nailed Fang with a Straight Jacket Suplex.  Monroe made the cover and in 17 minutes, got the win.  Superstar Chic Monroe is going on to next weeks’ match to meet Fang for the title.  Time will tell if he’ll strike gold.

Match #4:  Non-title match:  Korbi Kong © vs Violet Valkyrie:  Korbi came out first to a huge pop from the crowd.  When Violet came out, the fans went sour on her.  She grabbed a mic and told them to shut up and sit down.  If they didn’t, she would leave.  They did not so she did.  The match never happened and a frustrated Ladies Champion left.  (no contest)

Match #5:  Six Man Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain and Biceps vs the Huber Clan.  2 out of 3 falls; 60 minute time limit.  Two member of the Huber Clan, Ferb and Junior, scored a win last week over the Steel Curtain.  Now, the clan is there in force but then so are the champs.  After the Huber’s came out, the champs did and they got the loudest pop of the night.   The Hubers took the lead early and in 16 minutes, scored the first fall after Junior locked Biceps in a bearhug and used that to pin him.  The second fall went a lot faster after Buzz hit Butch with a Buzz Cut, Starbuck hit a Shooting Star Buck and then Bannerman hurled him out of the ring.   Butch was not able to make it back in before the 10 count and was counted out.  (90 seconds)  The third and final fall was ready to get underway.  The champs dominated.  There’s no other way to say it.  For 19 minutes, the champs controlled the match with multiple tagging in and out and kept their opponents sequestered for good portions of the match.  Junior Huber tried to lock Starbuck in a bearhug but he wriggled out and took the big man down with a Starplex (slingshot suplex).  Junior struggled to his feet and Starbuck laid into him with chops to the chest (the fans went WOOOOOO after each one). Starbuck went for the pin securely hooking the leg and got the 1-2-3.  The fans exploded as the champs had their arms raised in victory.  The Hubers left and the champs celebrated with the fans before leaving.

Match #6:  the Main Event: TV Champion – rematch between Wilber and TW in a steel cage.  The steel cage was lowered and secured.  First, Texas Wildfire came out and he looked a little different.  He painted his face and it looked like a wild fire over the state of Texas.  Some of the fans were digging this new look.  Wildfire entered the cage and waited.  The TV Champion Wilber Townsend came out and he mockingly applauded TW’s change in appearance.   Wilber removed the creepy mask and said that the mind games are over and now he’s going to beat TW into submission.  He enters the cage.  The lights then dimmed but before the match began, we saw someone sneaking down to the ring.
