Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter. Our next PPV – House of Horrors – comes live from the Tacoma Dome on Halloween. Every match on the card will have specialty rules. So far, we have a tentatively scheduled Fatal Four Way in a steel cage for the Ladies title (Maxine said she’d have an announcement on this later); we have started the qualifying matches to see who will go on to meet Scooter J in the Elimination Chamber for the World Title; the Freedom Fighters – Justice and Flash – will take on the the World Tag Team Champions Drew the Canadian Love Machine and Davis Hoffmeister in an ‘Anything Goes’ match; Biceps Bannerman defending the Hardcore title against Dr. Red Fang in a rules to be determined later match; Dash Woodbrick takes on Master Bull in a rules to be determined later match and lastly, the TV champion Starbuck Steel takes on Apollo Gyze in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match for the belt. The card is subject to change so stay tuned as we get closer and finalize/announce any last minute additions.
The show begins
with pyro going off and kicking off today’s show is our Elimination Chamber
qualifying match. First, Phat Sol comes
out to a nice pop from the crowd. He
makes his way to the ring and awaits his opponent. Next, the music changes and the fans boo as
the Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless comes out to “Everyone has a
price…for the Banker”. He stops at a
couple of fans and offers them cash only to pull it back at the last minute and
laughs. He gets into the ring smirking
and thinking he’s better than everyone here.
Phat surely will have something to say about that. The bell rings and Ruth shows why she’s so
devious interfering constantly but staying out of the referees line of
sight. Towards the end of the match,
Phat began to battle back but in from the crowd snuck Dash Woodbrick and as
Ruth distracted the ref, Dash hit Phat in the ribs with the chair. He then took back off in the crowd (COWARD!) allowing
the Banker to hit the Repossession Rib-buster.
He rolled Phat up (with a handful of tights because he is a cheater) and
gets the 1-2-3. The Banker gets the win
and is added to the Elimination Chamber.
The Banker stands in the ring motioning he’s going to get the title
back. He and Ruth leave to booing from
the crowd. Phat gets to his feet holding
his rib section and makes his way to the back. (20 min)
We go backstage
and we see Billy Robbins and Madman Mason fighting – presuming the battle for
the AA title has begun as a ref is standing by.
The fight spills out to the ring and after nullifying a few of Mason’s
moves, he threw his hands up and walked away.
The ref began counting and reached 10 and since Mason didn’t return, he
gets counted out (I think that is the first time ever this happened). Billy wins the match but not the title. (4 min)
Maxine DeVito is
in the GM office and she says that she can’t stop Hayley from cashing in her
MITB contract, she can bring the match back to a triple threat by putting Korbi
vs Violet in a match where the winner will advance. She says that both ladies want that next shot
so they should be willing to claw and scratch to get to that spot. If neither of them score the pin or
submission, well, then she’ll have to re-evaluate the match.
Next up on the
card is the match for the TV title.
First, Ovaltine Jackson comes out to a decent pop from the crowd. He interacts with the fans and enters the
ring. He doesn’t have to wait long as TV
Champion Starbuck Steel’s music hits and out he comes. He gets a solid pop and he makes his way to
the ring slapping hands with the fans.
He gets in the ring and hands the title to the ref. He is all business. He extends his hand and shakes with
Ovaltine. The bell then rings. Starbuck controlled the entire pace of the
match rarely giving Ovaltine much offense.
The end came at the 16 minute mark when Starbuck caught Ovaltine with
the Shooting Star Buck. He makes the
cover and gets the 3 count. Starbuck
retains his title but he is immediately ambushed by Apollo Gyze who drops the
champ with a steel chair shot. He then
drags Starbuck out of the ring and hits him with a ladder he pulled out from
under the ring. Lastly, he sets up a table
and then powerbombed Starbuck through it.
The table shattered upon impact.
Apollo laughs and grabs the TV title holding it high before dropping it
on Starbuck. Medics came out from the
back to check on Starbuck and ensure Apollo did no further damage. Apollo smirked as he made his way to the back
and the fans booed the crap out of him.
(16 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)
Violet Valkyrie is
backstage. “Korbi Kong, we are friends
and even tagged together but understand, when the Ladies title is at stake, forged
alliances and friendships go out the window.
I want the title, you want the title but only one of us can win. I’ll see you in the ring.
Backstage, Phat
Sol gets his hands on Dash Woodbrick and drags him to the ring. He demands the bell ring so he can teach this
schmuck a lesson. The ref shrugs his
shoulders “why not” and starts the match.
The match was pretty even for the first 15 minutes and it wasn’t until
Master Bull came out carrying a bag that Phat took control of the match. Dash begins jaw jacking with Bull asking
what’s in the bag and Bull tells him it’s the stipulation for their match. He dumps the contents of the bag on the floor
and out spills a dog collar chain.
Dash’s eyes go all wide. The
distraction was all Phat needed to lock in an abdominal stretch and then roll
Dash up for the 3 count. Phat Sol gains
a measure of revenge against Dash. Bull
enters the ring and begins swinging the chair.
Dash takes off, hopping the ringside barrier and taking off through the
crowd. Bull holds the chain high as the
fans pop. Phat shakes hands with Master
Bull and they leave. (19 min)
Backstage, Apollo
Gyze has some words. “First off, you
know that Apollo Gyze don’t apologize and that is the truth. Tonight is my night. I took out Starbuck Steel so that he won’t
make our match and he will forfeit the title to me. Next, I meet Shrimp Gumbo and not only will I
take his US title, I’ll be going to the Chamber. Just think…TV Champion, US Champion and World
Champion…all in one. Sucka!”
We head back to
the ring for our next match. The stage
fills with fog and out dashes Violet Valkyrie.
She makes a beeline for the ring sliding in under the bottom rope. She climbs the turnbuckle to a nice pop from
the crowd. After a moment, the
loudspeakers spit out “KORBI KONG SMASH” and out comes Korbi. She looks around as the fans pop for her and
she begins the walk to the ring shaking hands with fans. She gets in and waits for the bell to
ring. The time limit is set at 15
minutes. As the bell sounds, both ladies
go right after each other. There were
quite a few near falls but neither could score a pin or submission. As we entered the final minute of the match,
Korbi hit Violet with a scoop powerslam but Violet managed to hit a running
one-handed bulldog. She tried to go
right for the pin but the bell rang bringing this one to a draw finish. This immediately brought out Maxine who
looked like she was going to take both of them out of the match until the
Omegatron lit up and Max McGillicutty came on.
Max said he watched the match and the performance both ladies put on was
nothing short of spectacular. Maxine
tries to get a word in but Max cuts her off saying that the Fatal Four Way for
the Ladies Title is still on…inside the confines of a steel cage. One person escapes and that person will be
the champion. The fans pop and Maxine
stews on the stage before walking off.
We head backstage
one final time for an interview with the US Champion ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad
Gumbo. Gumbo is accompanied by his
manager Ms. Alexandria. ‘Mon ami, you
think for a minute you’re goin’ to the chamber?
Sorry, ain’t gonna happen. You
think you’re gonna win the US title?
Another big no. Finally, you
think you didn’t wake up a hornets nest with Starbuck Steel? Think again.
First things first though…Tonight I retain and I go to the chamber. Case closed.”
Rad and his manager head to the ring.
It’s time for our
main event. First, the loudspeakers
blare “APOLLO GYZE DON’T APOLOGIZE” and as Apollo comes out, the fans totally
let him have it. They haven’t been this
loud in a negative way since…well, the last time Apollo wrestled. He does his best to ignore them and walks to
each side of the ring flipping off as many of the fans as he possibly can. The music changed and so did the fans’ tune
as we hear “GUMBO 730 MEANS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” and out comes the Ragin
Cajun. Rad gets the loudest pop of the
night. A slight smile creeps up on Rad’s
face and he and Ms. Alexandria make their way to the ring. Apollo is walking back and forth, pacing in
the ring. Finally, the match can begin.

He then hops the barrier and blends into the crowd.

Rad Gumbo gets the
win, retains his title and goes on to the Chamber. The show comes to an end with Rad standing
tall holding his belt high with his manager at his side.
