HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #854 (8/12/20)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  On tonight’s show, the Tag Team Champions TNT and Scooter J defend the titles against Dr. Red Fang and a partner to be determined.  Also, World Champion Jack Lumber defends his World title against Perfect Pecs Stoddard.  All this and more takes place tonight so let’s get the action going.

After pyro goes off, we are back in the office of the GM.  Master Bull meets with Max McGillicutty and officially relinquishes his GM spot so he can be a wrestler (to take on Dash) but before he does, he puts Dash in a match vs Outback Oscar. Bull then states he needs some tune up matches and asks to be on the shows until the PPV.  Max grants his request.

Our first match is ready to get underway.  First, Outback Oscar makes his way out to a pop from the crowd.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes his opponent Dash Woodbrick.  Dash is booed heavily and he has this “hurt look” on his face.  He walks over to a fan and threatens to punch them but then just sneers and walks to the ring.  The match begins pretty quickly and Dash is not prepared.  Oscar takes early advantage but a few cheap shots from Dash got him back in the game.  Dash managed to hold his own the rest of the match by rolling to the outside or grabbing the ropes to avoid a pin attempt.  Before we knew it, the bell rang bringing this one to a draw finish.  Dash took off not wanting any more tonight.  Not a win but not a loss either.  (20 min draw)

We head backstage again where we are treated to a video promo from the Tag Team Champions.  SJ and TNT stand with their belts slung over their shoulders. TNT starts talking:  “Here it is…the gold at the end of the rainbow.”  SJ adds “This is just another title step.”  TNT gives him a look.  SJ continues “Together, TNT and I will climb that set of stairs.”  TNT replies with “Right” still looking puzzled.

It time for the next match.  First, Jesse California comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  Once he started to flip them off, it got them riled up.  He smirked as he strutted to the ring.  He gets in the ring and climbs to the top turnbuckle and lays across the top ropes; confidence oozing.  The music changes and out comes the former GM Master Bull.  Bull gets a solid pop from the Tacoma crowd.  He shakes hands with some of the fans as he makes his way to the ring.  Jesse jumped down and hit the ropes executing a suicide dive through the ropes and crashes into Bull.  Jesse then picks him up and rolls him into the ring.  He yells for the match to begin.  After a couple of minutes, Bull got his wind back and took the match to Jesse controlling the match almost entirely.  Not bad for someone who had been sitting behind a desk.  He kept trying for a pin but Jesse kept kicking out.  Just as we entered the final minute of the match, Bull catches Jesse with a Roman Flapjack.  He goes for the pin and hooks the leg solidly and this time gets the 3 count.  Master Bull gets the win but it is shortlived as he is attacked from behind by Dash Woodbrick.  Dash hits him with a forearm shot knocking him to the mat but Dash doesn’t remain.  He takes off to the back as fast as he arrived.  Shots have been fired.  It looks like the war is now here.  (20 min)

We head backstage where there is a commotion going on between the World Tag Team Champions TNT and Scooter J and Drew the Canadian Love Machine and the Anytime/Anywhere Champion Davis Hoffmeister.  Tempers began to flare before GM Max McGillicutty came out to break things up.  Both teams were sent their separate ways.

We head back to the ring for our next match.  First, the fans pop as the ‘small but powerful’ Hayley Hailstorm makes her way out.  She shakes hands with the fans as she makes her way to the ring.  She gets into the ring and climbs the 2nd turnbuckle holding her arms up.  The fans pop louder.  They then turn sour when the music changes and out comes ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito.  Maxine is booed heavily as she makes her way to the ring.  She walks over to one rather nosy fan and flips him off in his face.  The fans around him laugh as she just one-upped him.  She gets into the ring motioning for Hayley to back off so that she can enter the ring.  She took her sweet time with it.  Finally, in the ring, the bell rings and this one begins.  Hayley had control of the match for the first 5 minutes but then a cheap shot from Maxine turned things in her favor.  Maxine hit both the Sass Attack and a big foot to the face going for the pin each time only for Hayley to kick out.  Maxine got frustrated.   She hit Hayley again with a big boot to the face but before she could go for the pin, the Ladies Champion Korbi Kong came out.  Maxine was distracted and yelled at Korbi to leave.  Korbi just stood on the stage.  Frustrated, Maxine turned around and Hayley hit her with the Death Valley Driver.  Hayley hooked the leg and got the 3 count.  Maxine was on her feet rather quickly but Hayley left the ring to avoid any sneak attacks.  Maxine complained to the ref that Hayley had a handful of tights but the ref ignored her.  Korbi smirked and then left.  Maxine eventually followed.  (16 min)

Perfect Pecs Stoddard is backstage and says that tonight, his two big guns (pointing to his biceps) are going to bring him the World Championship.  He says that nothing will stand in his way from achieving the top title in HCW.

Biceps Bannerman makes his way out and gets on a mic.  He issues a challenge to Adam Jameson for his spot in the Hardcore Top 10.  Adam comes out and accepts and says he wants the DQ rule dropped for this match.  Biceps dominates the first few minutes of the match until Adam hits a gut buster that takes all the wind out of Biceps sails.  Biceps tried for some high powered moves but Adam and his speed reversed or nullified the moves.  Just then, the Hardcore Champion Madman Mason comes out.  He walks down to the ring. He goes and stands over by commentary.  Adam hits another gut buster but stops to yell at Mason.  Mason grabs a chair and slides it into the ring daring either man to grab it and use it.  Both Adam and Biceps grab it and have a tug of war with it.  Biceps wins and then smashes Adam with the chair.  He hurls the chair out of the ring; frustrated that he caved in to Mason’s taunting.  He makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  Biceps Bannerman gets the win.  Before he can celebrate though, Mason attacks him from behind hitting him first with a powerbomb and then the Psychotic Break.  Mason gets on the mic and says he will face Biceps at the PPV but says that he will take on Adam Jameson before that event.  When he was asked what would happen if he lost the belt to Adam, Mason slugged the interviewer and then walked away.
Our Tag Team title match is next.  First, we hear “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYBODY” and out comes Dr. Red Fang and his manager the Ambassador.  The duo make their way down to the ring but there is someone missing…Fang’s tag team partner.  I wonder if he wasn’t able to find someone.  The music changes and out come the champs – Scooter J and TNT.  They make their way to the ring and get in.  Scooter J takes a mic “So, were you not able to find someone?  Do we get to beat up on your vampire bot all by ourselves?”  The men laugh until the loudspeaker blares out:

“I prescribe vampire lunges for everyone” and out comes the doctor from the soap – Handsome Young Dr. R Fang.  Scooter J and TNT’s eyes go all wide.  The look at HYDRF, to each other and then back to this man coming down the ramp.  The young Dr. walks in bypassing Scooter J and TNT and shakes hands with the Ambassador.  He nods and is ready to get this one underway.

TNT and Scooter J seemed to have words with each other (TNT complaining that he didn’t get in-ring time and SJ continues to hog the limelight).  They are interrupted by Davis Hoffmeister and Drew the Canadian Love Machine.  Davis says they are here to challenge the champs for the titles at the PPV.  Drew calls TNT the weak link and says he will only do what Scooter J says.  TNT looks at SJ and then accepts the match for the PPV.  Davis and Drew walk away while Scooter J follows TNT out of the ring asking “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”

World Champion Jack Lumber is backstage cutting a promo.  “I won’t waste time here and now talking but will show the world that my win over the Wicked Prophet was not a fluke.  I am the real deal and I’m here to stay.”  He leaves to head to the ring.

It’s time for our main event.  First, Perfect Pecs Stoddard comes out to a mixed reaction from the crowd.  He doesn’t’ do anything to incite them; just makes his way to the ring.  It doesn’t take long for the Champ’s music to hit and out comes Jack Lumber.  The fans, and particularly the Lumber Lounge, pop huge for him.  He makes his way to the lounge, shakes a bunch of hands and then makes his way to the ring.  Jack enters and stands against the ropes in the middle and looks to the fans and holds the title high.  He walks to the center of the ring and extends his hand to Stoddard who shakes it.  They step back and the bell rings starting this one off.  As the bell rang, Pecs nails an Irish backbreaker and Jack hits him with the Axe.  After that, Jack took the match to his challenger and dominated.   However he tried though, he could not keep Pecs down.  Jack nailed a Yukon bodyslam twice and went for the pin each time only for Pecs to kick out.  Jack picked Pecs up and nailed two consecutive Yukon Bodyslam and he went for the pin securely hooking the leg.  He got the 3 count but only barely.    Jack Lumber is victorious in his first title defense.  He accepts his title back from the ref and holds it high.  Just then Dash Woodbrick sneaks into the ring and smashes Jack in the back.  Jack manages to roll out of the ring to avoid any other attacks.  GM Max McGillicutty comes out.  Dash grabs a mic and says that Jack Slumber ruined his life.  He had a great gig as liaison to the great Wicked Prophet but after Jack stole the belt from him, his life went into the dumps.  Dash then announces that he wants a shot at Jack’s World title at the PPV.  Max stops him and says he thinks it’s a great idea however we need to make sure everything remains on the up and up so he will be appointing a special guest referee.  Max introduces him and it’s none other than Master Bull.  Jack seems pleased with the announcement whereas Dash is just the opposite.

The show comes to an end with Dash yelling at Jack, Max and Bull.

Thanks for reading.  More action to come so stay tuned.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #853 (8/05/20)

Hello wrestling fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  On the card today, we will see both the Anytime/Anywhere title defended…in the actual ring and the Six Man Tag Team champions Wilber Townsend, Otto Ruthless and Talon McFrost will take on the team of Jesse California, Tommy Lightning and ‘the Bounty Hunter’ Jake Montrose.  Let’s get right to the action.

The music plays and out comes Smasher #1 to massive amounts of booing from the fans.  He flips off a few and then gets in the ring.  He doesn’t have to wait long as the Anytime/Anywhere Champion Phat Sol comes out to a loud pop from the crowd.  He stops and interacts with some fans but Smasher #1 didn’t want to wait so he rushed out of the ring and attacked Phat powerbombing him on the ramp.  Phat was visibly hurt and Smasher #1 took advantage of it beating him down.   After 12 minutes of destroying Phat, he hits another powerbomb in the center of the ring and makes the cover getting the 1-2-3.  Smasher #1 gets the win and becomes the NEW Anytime/Anywhere Champion.  (12 min)  He immediately gets on the mic and throws out a challenge to anyone who wants a shot.  Davis Hoffmeister comes out and accepts.  Smasher #1 invites him to the ring.  Davis rushes down sliding under the bottom rope only to have Smasher #1 stomp on him upon entry.  His offense didn’t go for very long as Davis began fighting back in earnest.  Davis locked in the Hollywood Clutch but Smasher #1 powered out of it.  A few minutes later, Davis hits a clothesline and goes for a pin but Smasher #1 powers out.  Smasher #1 gets thrown out of the ring and Phat Sol sneaks up behind him leveling him with a chair shot before disappearing in the crowd.  Smasher #1 came back with a forearm smash that rattled Davis’ teeth but he used that momentum to hit the ropes and come off with a roundhouse kick.  Smasher #1 goes down and Davis makes the immediate cover getting the 1...2…3.  Davis Hoffmeister gets the win and becomes the NEW Anytime/Anywhere Champion.  He celebrates in the ring and then eventually leaves.  Smasher #1 grumbles under his breath “Just wait till I get my hands on that Phat Man”.  (14 min)

After a momentary break, Maximillian Redbeard comes out and makes his way to the ring.  He gets on the mic and calls out the Banker for costing him his shot at the title.  He then immediately throws out a challenge for right now for the Banker’s spot and next title match for the US Championship.  The Banker comes out and says that Redbeard is a lumbering ox who doesn’t know left from right or up from down.  The Banker says he has bigger fish to fry and tries to leave until GM Master Bull comes out.  Bull says that Redbeard made an official challenge for his spot and the Banker must accept.  Ruth comes out and starts to have words with the GM but Bull says that if The Banker refuses the match tonight, he will forfeit his shot at the US title.  Bull says “the choice is yours” and walks off.  The Banker and Ruth are steaming but head to the ring for our next match.

Redbeard, in the ring, motions for the Banker join him.  He eventually does and the bell rings.  The Banker immediately distracted the referee and that allowed Ruth to hit Maximillian with the briefcase.  That put Redbeard on the defensive for most of the match.  The Banker controlled the pace and when he thought Redbeard had had enough, he dropped him with the Deposit Diving DDT.  He makes the cover and gets the 3 count.  The Banker is victorious and retains his spot as the #1 contender to the US title.  Just then, the US Champion ‘The Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo comes out clapping mockingly. He tells the Banker that at the PPV, he is changing his 7:30 slogan slightly.  This time it will be “730 means you’re getting your ass beat”.  The Banker tried to exchange some words but Gumbo turned and left.  The Banker and Ruth Heartless eventually left the ring.

Backstage, Perfect Pecs Stoddard is cutting a promo and he states that as the #1 contender to the World Title, he is issuing a challenge to the champion Jack Lumber for a match at the next show.  Just then, the champ himself walks in.  He tells Pecs that he is a defending champion and if Pecs, as the #1 contender, wants his shot next week, he’s got it.  Jack extends his hand and Pecs shakes it but doesn’t let go. “I’ll see you next week” Pecs says before releasing Jack’s hand and walking off.  Jack smiles.

We head to the ring for our next match.  First, Killa Pops comes out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He says that he is ready for anything HCW will throw at him.  Just then, the loudspeakers blare “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYBODY” and out comes Dr. Red Fang and his manager the Ambassador.  The duo are booed as they make their way to the ring.  Fang enters the ring and immediately goes after Pops.  For 6 minutes, Fang dominated Pops but then all of a sudden, the tide changed and Pops began demolishing Fang much to the vampire and his manager’s surprise.  Pops twisted Fang’s arm and then just began pummeling Fang with body kicks…he just kept going.  The fans started counting and after 20 total kicks, Fang dropped to the mat.  Pops made the cover and got the easy 1-2-3.  Killa Pops gets the win.  He gets on a mic and says that he, Redbeard and Ferguson will get their 6 man titles back or he will quit wrestling.  He drops the mic and leaves.  After a moment, the Ambassador gets in the ring and helps Fang to his feet.  He gets on the mic and says this was a minor setback.  The Ambassador says that Dr. Red Fang has expressed interest in going after the Tag Team Titles.  The Ambassador says that no one in HCW who are in their right minds would want to team with the evil Doctor so he is going outside of HCW to find Fang a partner and promises to bring him to the show next week. The duo then leave to booing from the crowd.

Our next match is ready to go and out comes Lavender Gooms to a nice reception from the crowd.  She makes her way to the ring high-fiving with the fans.  She gets in the ring and awaits her opponent.  The music changes and out comes Goldie Locks.  She is booed heavily and she turns her nose up at the fans and makes her way to the ring.  She gets in to the ring and sneers at the fans.  The bell rings and this one begins.  Goldie and Lavender were pretty evenly matched until at the 14 minute mark, Violet Valkyrie makes her way out.  She goes around the ring and sits at commentary.  This distraction does what it was intended to do…throw Goldie off her game.  Lavender took advantage and went on the offensive.  When it looked like Goldie was making a comeback, Violet got up and stood at the ropes.  Goldie was going to hit the ropes to execute some move but stopped short when she saw Violet standing there.  She began jaw jacking with her but upon turning around, Lavender hit her with a snap suplex.  Lavender went for the pin and got the 3 count.  Goldie kicked out just after but immediately began accusing the ref of a fast count.  The ref raised Lavender’s hand and then the two of them left.  Violet began laughing on the outside.  Goldie hit the ropes and then went flying through them and crashed into Violet on the floor.  The two began brawling and took it up the ramp and to the back.

Wilber Townsend and the Six Man Tag Champions is backstage.  “Friends, Romans, Countrymen…lend me your ears.  We do not intend to save our opponents but to destroy them.   Pops and his team want a rematch against us.  Most teams are unworthy but the Snake Pit stands in your way.  Pops, as you are willing to put your career on the line, you have my undivided attention but the Pit want these belts too…perhaps more than you do.  Defeat them and the next title match is yours.  In the end though, I will have taken your career and you will be out of HCW.  Follow the carrion.”

It is time for our main event.  First, Jesse California, Tommy Lightning and ‘The Bounty Hunter’ Jake Montrose come out to booing from the fans.  Tommy rushes down to the ring and tells the fans to shut their pie holes.  “Wilber thinks he can play mind games with us?  You think you can look past us?  That will be the biggest mistake you’ll ever make.”  Jesse and Jake join him in the ring.  The champs make their way out to muted lighting in the arena.  As they get closer to the ring, the brighter the lights get.  Once in the ring, they enter and their opponents back off to their corner.  Wilber stares at them and begins laughing.  The bell rings.  The champs dominated.  There really isn’t another way to say it.  They owned the challengers and actually toyed around with them in the ring delaying the end of the match until Wilber called for the finish.
Talon McFrost smashed Jake’s head into the exposed turnbuckle (it was removed earlier in the match) and a bleeding Bounty Hunter dropped to the mat.  Talon made the cover and got the 3 count.  Wilber, Talon and Otto retain the titles.  The show comes to an end with Wilber holding his belt high and laughing.

Thanks for reading.   As the PPV is coming up on us quickly, be sure to stay tuned for the action.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #852 (7/29/20)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  On the card today, we will see the Hardcore title defended as well as the US Championship.   Lots of other action is ready to take place so let’s get this show on the road.

After pyro goes off, we go backstage where a confrontation is taking place between Goldie Locks and Violet Valkyrie.  GM Master Bull intervenes and makes a tag match for tonight.  Maxine DeVito will team up with Goldie and Hayley Hailstorm will team up with Violet.

Our first match of the evening is a “Challenge for your spot” match.  First, the challengers Drew the Canadian Love Machine and Davis Hoffmeister come out to a deafening pop from the crowd.  They finally make their way into the ring.  Next, defending their “spot” is the team of Ghee Buttersnaps and Ovaltine Jackson.  Ghee and Ovaltine make their way out to a nice reaction from the crowd.  The two teams meet in the center of the ring and shake hands.  Drew and Davis need this win if they want a shot at the Tag Team Titles.   The match begins and Drew and Davis owned the match.  They dismantled Ghee and Ovaltine like clarified butter and a powdered drink.  It only took 10 minutes for Davis to hit the ropes and then catch Ovaltine with a flying dropkick and make the cover to get the 1-2-3.  Drew gets on the mic as the fans pop.  “Tonight, with this win, we are officially challenging the champs for the titles at the ‘Reign of Champions’ PPV.”  He hands the mic to Davis.  “Drew and I have worked hard to get to this point and are ready.”  This brought out the World Tag Team Champions TNT and Scooter J.  Scooter J has a mic.  “Oh, so you think a win over these two nobodies makes you the top contenders for our belts?  Really?  If you want the shot, you got it but before you get in over your heads, you may want to swing by in two weeks and watch our first title defense.  I hear it’s going to be a doozy.”  SJ drops the mic and he and TNT walk off.  Davis and Drew celebrate with the fans for a few moments before departing.

The Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless are backstage.  The Banker says he will be making an announcement in the ring this evening.

Back at the ring, music plays and the crazy cat lady Catalina Harper makes her way out.  She gets on the mic and says that even though she is due a rematch for the Ladies title, she wants to ensure she is securing her spot.  She then issues a challenge to Missy Chick for her spot in the ladies top 10.  The fans boo until Missy’s music plays and then they pop for her as she makes her way to the ring.  She says she accepts the challenge (she really didn’t have a choice in the matter) and enters the ring.  Just then, a clowder of cats come out from under the ring.  Missy is perplexed at how many there are (and exactly why were they under the ring in the first place.  Catalina uses the distraction to attack Missy to kick off the match.   Catalina dominated the match and it only took 6 minutes to hit ‘the Cat’s Meow’ and secure the 3 count.  Catalina is booed as her hand is raised in victory.  She hisses at the fans and makes her way to the back followed by the clowder.  (6 min)

The Masked Banana makes his way into the office of the GM.  He states that he is happy that so many good people are in possession of titles.   He calls Jack Lumber ‘his favorite’ stating that no one deserves a belt more.  He does ask for a contenders match.  GM Max McGillicutty questions which belt he wants to go for and he says the US title.  Max is impressed with his lofty goal and says he will put him in a match tonight against Shawn ‘Abs of Steel’ Austin for his spot.   If MB wins, he moves up in the rankings.  The Masked Banana thanks Max, shakes his hand and leaves.

We go back to the ring for a ladies tag team match.  First, the team of Goldie Locks and ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito come out to massive booing from the fans.  Maxine flips the fans off and encourages Goldie to do the same.  They make their way to the ring with Maxine constantly egging the fans on to get them more irate.  They enter the ring and the fans continue to let them have what for until the music changes and out comes Hayley Hailstorm and Violet Valkyrie.  Violet and Hayley rush to the ring causing Maxine and Goldie to bail to the outside.  Violet is steaming mad and keeps motioning for their opponents to enter the ring.  After a minute, Maxine decides she doesn’t want to wrestle and begins to walk away.  Violet goes after her and then drags her back to the ring.  While that was going on, Goldie snuck in and attacked Hayley starting the match off.  Maxine quickly tags herself in to take on Hayley and Violet sneaks around and pulls Goldie from the ring, bounces her head off the announcers table and then handcuffs her to the ringpost to keep her out of the match.  That is a bit odd as you would think Violet wanted a piece of her hide.  Maxine held her own keeping both Hayley and Violet on an even keel but eventually the tag team execution of Hayley and Maxine was too much.  She rolled out of the ring and found the key to the cuffs and freed Goldie telling her to get in the ring.  Goldie entered but then was sent back out as she was not the legal person.  Violet gets her hands on her again and slams her hard on the exposed concrete floor leaving Maxine once again to hold down the fort.  Eventually the bell rang bringing this one to a time limit draw.  Maxine rolled out of the ring and made her way to the back solo.  Goldie snuck back in and hit Hayley with a high knee sending her out of the ring.  Goldie and Violet then traded blows until a dozen people from the back came out to separate them.  We’re not sure where the bad blood between them came from but I’m sure it’s only just begun.  (20 min draw)

Backstage, the Hardcore Champion Madman Mason had a few words.  “Karl Braun, bring your Column, defeat me if you can; walk away if I let you.”

We head back to the ring for our next ‘spot challenge’.  First, the music plays (Hey Margarita) and out comes the Masked Banana.  The fans pop as he makes his way out.  He even takes a moment to hang with his peeps in the Banana Boat.  He gets into the ring and waits patiently for his opponent.  The music changed and the fans boo as Shawn ‘Abs of Stone’ Austin comes out.  He has a mic and begins to berate MB for challenging him for his spot.  He says he will squish him.  He gets into the ring and goes right after MB who has been waiting patiently.  Shawn whips him into the corner and follows it up with a punch.  MB hits Shawn with the Banana cream pie.  Shawn arm drags MB out of the corner.  Shawn hits another arm drag but then MB Dole’s out some pain.  MB follows it up with the Banana-Rama and then locks in the B.A.N.AN.A.S. but Shawn doesn’t tap out.   The fans psyche MB up and he hits Shawn again with the Banana Cream Pie.  He goes for the cover and gets the 3 count.  The Masked Banana gets the win and moves up the rankings for the US title.  The fans are overjoyed.  He leaves celebrating with them at ringside as Shawn sulks to the back.  (6 min)

Maximillian Redbeard is backstage.  He says that he gets the Ragin Cajun tonight and after tonight, Gumbo will respect the beard AND the new champion.

Next up is our Hardcore title match.  First, Karl Braun comes out with the other members of the 5th Column Baron von Blood and Oswald Zimmerman accompany him down to the ring.  Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes the Hardcore champion Madman Mason.   Before Mason can head down to the ring, Wilber Townsend comes out and says he wants to offer Mason the services of the only other person on the roster just as mad and crazy as Mason…him.  Wilber says that Mason doesn’t owe him anything and says he will just be there to watch his back against the Column.  Mason agrees and they head to the ring.  (Editor’s note:  Wilber may be the one person crazier than Mason so Mason better watch his back).  Mason gets into the ring and the match begins.  Mason dominated Braun in this street fight.  Baron and Oswald did try to get involved but true to his word, Wilber laid them both out with the GTS.  That left Mason to dismantle Karl and finally finish him off with the Psychotic Break.  He makes the pin and gets the 3 count at the 19 minute.  Wilber turned and left and made his way up the ramp.  He turned once on the stage and said “One day” and then turned and left.  Mason celebrated to booing from the fans but was interrupted by Biceps Bannerman.  Biceps said he is officially throwing his name into the pool for a shot at the Hardcore title at the Reign of Champions PPV.  He says he will wait for Mason’s response.  Mason berates him for sticking his nose in his win and says that Biceps will learn his place after he is demolished at the PPV.  I suppose we have a match for the card.

The US Champion ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo is backstage with his manager Ms. Alexandria.  Gumbo states that he is laser-focused on being the US Champion and he says that it doesn’t matter if it’s a man with a red beard, a guy dressed as a banana or an escapee from an asylum…he is going to retain.  Once he’s completed everything he can as the US Champion, there is one place for him to go…the World title.  Right now, he has no issue taking on Jack Lumber, the Wicked Prophet or whoever is the flavor of the week…onc he sets his sights on the World Title, everyone better watch their backs.  Once 730 rolls around, not only will it be suppa time, it will be NEW CHAMPION time…bitch.

It’s time for our main event.  First, Maximillian Redbeard makes his way out to a nice pop from the crowd.  He jumps from the floor to the ring apron (impressive for such a big guy) and then steps over the top rope to enter the ring.  He leans over the top rope with his arm raised and the fans pop.  The music changes and then we hear over the loudspeakers “GUMBO 7:30 MEANS ITS SUPPA TIME, BITCH” and out comes the Ragin Cajun the US Champion, Rad Gumbo and his manager Ms. Alexandria.  They make their way to the ring to a pop from the fans.  He gets into the ring and then climbs the turnbuckle holding his title high in the air.  He steps down and meets Redbeard in the center of the ring.  He raises his eyes to look into the face full of red beard.  He doesn’t waver.  Without blinking, he hands his title to the ref and waits to Redbeard to be sent to his corner.  The bell rings and this one begins.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #851 (7/22/20) – PPV fallout

Hello fans and welcome to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  Wow, all I can say is WOW with all changes that happened just a few short weeks ago.  Here is how it all went down.

Shawn Austin defeated Perfect Pecs.
Maxine DeVito defeated Korbi Kong
Texas Wildfire defeated Apollo Gyze to become the new TV Champion
Scooter J and TNT (with some outside help from Col. Flagg) defeated the Steel Curtain to become the new Tag Team Champions
Jack Lumber chopped down the Wicked Prophet to take home the World Title.
Catalina Harper retained the Ladies title against Violet Valkyrie after a masked person interfered costing Violet the match.
Korbi Kong cashed in her money in the bank contract against Catalina and became the NEW Ladies Champion.

We had some pre-taped promos that we were asked to run as they were not going to be on today’s show.

Catalina promo:
“Me-OUCH!!!!  What a cat-astrophe. Pardon me while I go lick my wounds.  Korbi Kong, I still have 8 lives left, and they’re ALL coming for you!”

Wicked Prophet
Slow clap.
“Jack Lumber, you don’t even warrant a golf clap.  You think just because you defeated me makes you a better man.  It doesn’t. But I’m going to tell you this…I’m going to take some time off so enjoy your time as champion.  As much as you think you’re the sh!t, you are a flash in the pan…This Lumber Mill will reduce you to sawdust and you’ll just blow away in the wind.”

Pyro goes off and our show is ready to begin.  First, ‘Luke Warm’ Lucas Johnston comes out to a, well, luke-warm reception from the crowd.  The former King, once red hot, is back to being a mid-carder.  He gets into the ring and waits for his opponent.  The music changes and out comes, for his debut match, Dash Woodbrick.  Dash comes out to massive booing from the crowd.  He flips off the fans as he makes his way to the ring and that just infuriates them all the more.  He shooshes Lucas away (he’s on the other frickin side of the ring you dolt) and enters the ring.  The bell rings kicking this one off.  Dash struggles for the first couple of minutes (this is his first in-ring match after all) but after a couple of cheap shots, starts to take control.  Lucas begins to battle back but Dash ends that with a low blow.  Dash then hits his specialty, the Hammerlock Powerbomb and makes the cover getting the 3 count.  Dash Woodbrick is victorious in his first match.  He snatches the microphone from the ref and says that Jack Lumber is responsible for the loss of the Masked Banana, err, I mean Wicked Prophet and says he will make Jack pay.  Dash leaves to massive booing from the crowd.  (24 min)

Backstage, the Anytime/Anywhere champion Phat Sol doesn’t watch where he’s going and walks right into the 7’ tall Superquake Ferguson.  Superquake tells him he’s not going to attack him backstage but he’ll take a match for that title tonight.  Superquake walks off and Phat visibly gulps…as if his time as champion is coming to an end.

Before the next match could begin, the woman in black makes her way out to the ring accompanied by 3 people in bear suits.  She gets in the ring while the ‘bears’ wait outside.  She gets on the mic and calls out Violet Valkyrie for being weak.  She unmasks herself and introduces herself to the wrestling world as “Goldie Locks” (hence the 3 bears).  She says that a division of strong women such as Maxine DeVito and Catalina Harper are bogged down with the likes of Violet.  Violet then comes charging out of the back zipping past the bears and gets into the ring tackling Goldie to the mat.  The two begin throwing haymakers  until Goldie delivers a chop to Violet’s throat to slow her down.  She then rushes off yelling at the bears who slowly lumber behind her.  She stops on the ramp and starts to laugh at Violet but changes her tune when she sees the Valkyrie ‘flying’ past the bears again.  Goldie takes off to the back followed by a very pissed off Violet.

As soon as the ‘bears’ lumbered to the back, our next match was ready to begin.  First, the Bounty Hunter Jake Montrose makes his way out to booing from the crowd.  He flips them off and gets in the ring grabbing the mic.  He tells Drew to get out here as there is a bounty on his head and he’s here to collect.  The fans pop huge as Drew the Canadian Love Machine makes his way out.  Drew makes a beeline for the ring and actually becomes the aggressor taking the match to Jake Montrose but soon Jake’s size became a factor.  Just before the 9 minute mark, Jake hurls Drew towards the ref but Drew stops just shy of bulldozing the ref.  Drew turns around only to eat a big foot that sends him to the outside of the ring.  The ref begins counting 1..2..3…Jake gets introduced to the ringpost…4..5..6…Jake catches Drew and bodyslams him hard on the concrete…7..8..9…Jake rolls back in…10.  The ref calls for the bell just before Drew was able to get back in the ring.  Jake Montrose gets the upset win via count out.  He begins laughing but then Drew hits him with a corkscrew pescado followed by the La Casita.  Jake is left lying in the ring and Drew leaves to a pop from the crowd.  (9 min)

Backstage, Starbuck Steel challenges Scooter J to a match but SJ declines but offers up TNT (much to his surprise) instead.  Starbuck says he’ll see him in the ring and walks off.

TNT and Scooter J, the World Tag Team Champions, make their way out first.  TNT is in singles action against former Tag champ Starbuck Steel.  The champs get in the ring and begin gloating to the fans.  Starbuck’s music hits and he rushes down to the ring.  TNT and SJ bail (cowards!) but after some taunting from Starbuck, TNT relents and gets in the ring.  The match was pretty even between the two and Scooter J tried a few times to help his tag partner out (illegally).  8 minutes in, the ref gets squished in the corner (accidentally of course) and is slow to recover.  Starbuck hits TNT with the Buckinator.  SJ sneaks in from behind and levels Starbuck with a steel chair shot across the back.  SJ drags Starbuck into the corner and climbs the turnbuckle and hits Buck with the 10 punches.   He throws Starbuck to the ground as the ref stirs.  TNT goes over and picks up Starbuck and hits a huge powerbomb.  The ref recovers and makes the count 1…2…3.  TNT gets the upset win over Starbuck.  Scooter J enters the ring and he and TNT put the boots to Starbuck until Biceps Bannerman runs out and chases TNT and Scooter J from the ring.  The champs laugh and walk away.  Biceps helps Starbuck to his feet and then they head to the back.  (9 min)

The ring announcer begins the next match by introducing, for her in-ring debut, J9.  J9 comes out to a pop from the crowd.  She is excited and nervous about her first match in front of a crowd.  She high fives the fans as she makes it down to the ring.  She is getting the crowd psyched up when she is interrupted by ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito.  The fans boo as Maxine makes her way to the ring.  Maxine begins hurling insults at J9.  J9, finally fed up, challenges Maxine right here and now.  Maxine obliges.

J9 is victorious in her first outing and the fans give her a nice pop.  She looks at Korbi who just gives her a slight head nod and then leaves.  J9 celebrates with the fans as Maxine makes her way to the back.

Next up, Killa Pops comes out first to a nice pop from the crowd.  He gets into the ring and asks for a mic.  Pops says that Wilber and team stole the 6 Man titles from him, Superquake and Redbeard.  They want a rematch.  This prompts Wilber Townsend to come out and tell Pops that other teams are more worthy than a bunch of losers (they did lose the titles afterall).  Pops says they will fight anyone, anywhere to ensure they get their rematch.  Wilber says “Be careful what you wish for.”  He turns and leaves.  Pops’ opponent finally makes his way out and it’s the Banker and his manager Ruth Heartless.  The Banker says he’s tired of sitting on the sidelines and will do what it takes to get back in contention.  Ruth has the Banker go on the offensive early and strong.  Pops went toe to toe with him for an astonishing 30 minutes.  Nothing the Banker (or Ruth) did slowed down Pops.  He was in “da house” and never let up.  The bell rang after 30 minutes bringing this one to a draw finish much to the dismay of the participants.  The Banker and Ruth went to the back.  Before Pops could leave the ring, Wilber Townsend snuck in and knocked Pops to the ground.  He then hit Pops with the GTS.  Ferguson and Redbeard made their way out but they were ambushed by Otto Ruthless and Talon McFrost.  They stomped mud holes in the former champions before leaving them for the carrion birds to feast on.   Redbeard and Pops rolled out of the ring trying to get their wind back.

Just then, the Anytime/Anywhere champion Phat Sol came out and saw that Ferguson had been laid out.  He rushed down to the ring and asked the ref to ring the bell (after all, who wants a 7’ 450 pound giant coming after you).  Phat made the cover and the ref counted 1…2…and Ferguson pressed Phat right off him.  Phat was shocked but the match is now underway.  Phat got desperate and tried to choke Ferguson on the ropes to drive the wind out of him.  Ferguson hurls Phat into the corner and charges hitting a splash but that seemed to take the wind out of his sails.  Phat recovered and hit the Phat Phat (brainbuster) on Superquake in the middle of the ring.  He makes the cover hooking the tree trunk of a leg of Superquake and managed to get the 3 count.  Phat Sol wins the match and retains the Anytime/Anywhere title.  On the outside of the ring, Redbeard and Killa Pops recovered and came to their partner’s aid.  Phat saw the writing on the wall and took off.

After a brief moment, the World Champion Jack Lumber came out to raucous applause from the Lumber Lounge and instead of making his way to the ring, he goes right to that section of the crowd to give out autographs, high-fives, hugs, and then takes an empty seat right at the front of the lounge. He gets on the mic.

“I am so grateful for the fans I have and with all the support I had from them ringside in my championship bout, there was no way I could have lost. Not only am I on top of the HCW, it feels like I’m on top of the world. I have planted yet another tree in honor of a fallen foe. I have planted a weeping willow because all he does is whine like a little baby when things don’t go his way.”

“I’m looking forward to defending my belt and making my fans proud.  Without them, I am nothing. There are a lot more trees to plant in my future because the Forest Champion is here to stay!”

The show comes to an end with Jack chatting it up with the Lumber Lounge.
