HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #824 (1/25/20) – Saturday Night Showdown

Hello fans and welcome to a special edition of the HCW wrestling newsletter.  Tonight, 5 men compete for a chance to challenge World Champion the Wicked Prophet for the title at the February PPV Reigning Royalty.  Also on the card today, Hayley Hailstone and Catalina Harper team up to take on Taylor Bella and Violet Valkyrie.  Continuing their feud, Dr. Red Fang and Scooter J meet in a Lights Out match.  In a placement match, the Flannelnanas (Jack Lumber and the Masked Banana) meet the Hubers in a #1 contenders match with the winner getting a shot at the Tag Team Champions the Steel Curtain.  Now, let’s get the action started.  The Elimination Chamber sits precariously hoisted above the ring. 

Late Breaking News:  We were just informed by HCW management that a sixth person has been added to the Elimination Chamber match tonight.  Madman Mason is getting in on the action.  We’re not sure why he was added but will follow up with our GMs tonight.

First on the card is our tag team match.   Music plays:

Peach, Pomegranate, Lime Margarita

Hey Margarita!

Out comes the challengers the Flannelnanas.  Jack Lumber and the Masked Banana come out to a huge pop from the crowd.  MB is pulling double duty today as he will also be trying for a shot at the World title and, in his words, grapeness.  The Flannelnanas get in the ring and continue to psyche up the crowd.   When the music changes, the fans boo as the Huber Clan makes their way out.  Butch, Ferb and Junior Huber decide who is defending their spot tonight and Ferb and Junior make their way to the ring.  Butch heads to the back.  The Hubers get in and begin jaw jacking with the Flannelnanas but they don’t take the bait.   As soon as the bell rings, the Hubers take control early but the Flannelnanas battled back and the fans’ cheering just kept getting louder and louder.  Both teams did a good job trying to keep a fresh man in the ring.  At the 10 minute mark, Jack hit Ferb with a Yukon bodyslam but Ferb caught him with a big boot.  Both men went down and each crawled to their corner.  Junior and the Masked Banana tagged in at the same time.  Junior scooped MB up and was going to hurl him out of the ring but he wriggled out of it and caught Junior with the Banana hammock.  MB made the cover hooking the leg solidly as the ref counted 1-2-3.  The Flannelnanas get the win and with this win, they are going to meet the World Tag Team Champions next week for the belts.  Jack and the Masked Banana raised their arms in victory and left to a nice loud pop from the crowd.  (11 min)

There is a backstage commotion and it seems that Violet Valkyrie has been laid out.  We don’t know who did it.  GMs Master Bull and Max McGillicutty are on it and will figure out what the hell just happened.

Hayley Hailstone and Catalina Harper are backstage being interviewed.  They say that Violet and Taylor have no business going for the Ladies title when the two of them are the best in the business.  Hayley tells Catalina that she thinks she is the best woman in HCW but for tonight, all egos are put aside and they team up to take out Violet and Taylor once and for all.  Catalina says “All due respect but that’s a bunch of Meow mix.  Only one person in HCW has the best record and that is me.”  They are then interrupted by Tempest Fortune.  “You are looking at the wrong list there freaky cat lady.  You HAD the best record last year.  This year, it’s me.  I am undefeated yet I am not even being considered for any shots.  If Violet cannot wrestle tonight, I am taking her place.  She walks off.  Hayley and Catalina are speechless.

We head back to the ring as we await word from the GM’s on if Violet will wrestle or if Tempest is taking her place.  First, the loudspeakers blare “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYBODY” and out comes the evil, diabolical vampire Dr. Red Fang accompanied by his manager the Ambassador.  They are booed as they head down to the ring.  Fang gets in the ring and begins cackling.  The Ambassador sits at commentary.  The music changes and out comes Scooter J accompanied by TNT.  They collectively head down to the ring and TNT heads to the other side of commentary while SJ gets in the ring.   The rules for this match are “Lights Out” and that means if someone cannot answer the 10 count, they will lose the match.  Scooter J starts off eye rake on Fang who drops SJ with a Transylvania piledriver. He goes for the quick pin but SJ kicks out.  Scooter J bodyslams Fang and goes to the outside to grab a chair.  He slides it into the ring.  He grabs a second and also slides it in.  He sets up the two chairs but Fang powers out and grabs a chair and hits Scooter J in the gut with it.  He drops the chair and then picks up SJ and hits a Transylvania piledriver on the chair.  Scooter J is busted open. Fang goes for the cover and gets the easy 1-2-3.  He stands up and steps back as the ref begins to count.  1…2…3…4…5…Scooter J starts to stir…6…7…8…he tries to stand but his legs are wobbly…9…Scooter J falls back down…10.  The ref ends the match and awards the match via knock out to Dr. Red Fang.  The Ambassador gets in the ring and raises Fang’s arm.   TNT slides in behind them and grabs one of the chairs.  He then blasts the Ambassador across the back.  He then hits Fang in the gut with it and then blasts him across the back with the chair.  TNT then drops the chair, grabs Fang and nails the TNT.  Fang too is busted open.  The fans boo TNT and he goes to help Scooter J to his feet.  The two begin putting the boots to Fang but since no one likes him, no one comes to his aid.  Scooter J tells TNT to pick Fang up.  TNT gets him set up for a powerbomb and Scooter helps delivered a double powerbomb.  Scooter J and TNT stand over the unconscious form of Dr. Red Fang.  This feud doesn’t look like it will be ending anytime soon.  (2 min for the match; 10 for the aftermath).

GM Max McGillicutty comes out to the stage and says that someone injured Violet Valkyrie and because of that, she is unable to wrestle tonight.  Max says that Tempest Fortune will be teaming up with Taylor Bella to take on Hayley Hailstone and Catalina Harper.  He promises that when he finds out who attacked Violet, someone will be suspended.

Next up is our Women’s tag team match.  First, Taylor Bella comes out to a pop from the crowd.  Tempest Fortune follows and the duo head to the ring.   Once in the ring, the music changes and out comes Hayley Hailstone and is followed by Catalina Harper.  The duo meet on the stage and head to the ring walking side by side; not letting the other take lead.  They get into the ring and the match begins moments later.  Hayley and Catalina take control of the match early on.  At the 5 minute mark, Taylor is thrown over the top rope and she lands awkwardly on the floor.  She appears to be injured leaving Tempest on her own.  Tempest tried to hold her own and did but just barely.  5 minutes later, Taylor seemed to be ok and rejoined the match.  After getting their groove back, Taylor and Tempest began to control the match.  The two teams would each hit their specialty move but each team’s partner was able to make the save each time.  Before we knew it, we were in the final minute of the match.  Hayley had just hit a tornado DDT, went for the pin on Tempest but Taylor made the save.  Catalina was tagged in and she hit Taylor with the PURR-fect Storm.  She went for the pin but the bell rang bringing this one to a draw finish.  This one ends in a time limit draw.  All four women were discouraged with the outcome.  Just then, Ladies Champion ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito came out and grabbed a chair and hit all the women with it knocking them out.  Maxine stands tall in the ring and the fans booed the crap out of her.  She smirked and laughed and threw the chair down and left.   Each of the women in the ring were able to leave under their own power.  (30 min draw; 5 for the aftermath)

Apollo Gyze is backstage and he is strutting around with the US title.  He turns the corner and standing there is ‘the Ragin Cajun’ Rad Gumbo.  Apollo is astonished.  Rad goes bat crazy on him and Apollo turns to run.  He drops the title and says “BLEEP it” and keeps running until he leaves the building.  Rad picked up his title and says “Mon Ami, this ain’t over”. 

Back at the ring, the Elimination Chamber is lowered.  This structure is massive.  It will surely keep the action in and around the ring without concerns of outside interference.

One by one, the individual competitors make their way out.  First, the last man added Madman Mason comes out.  Next, Phat Sol and Davis Hoffmeister come out.  The Masked Banana makes his way out as his music plays.  Texas Wildfire is next and finally, creepy Wilber Townsend makes his way out.  They all enter their chambers and this one is ready to get underway.

First eliminated is the Masked Banana after Wilber Townsend hit the GTS for the pin.

Second to be eliminated is Madman Mason after Davis dropped him with a DDT for the pin.

Third eliminated is Wilber Townsend.  He hammered Davis’ back and then grabbed a foreign object.  Davis wrenched it away and blasted Wilber with it knocking him out.  Davis gets the win in only 60 seconds.

Fourth eliminated is Davis Hoffmeister after Phat Sol dropped him with the Phat Phat (brainbuster) in 2 min.

The final match is Texas Wildfire vs Phat Sol.

Texas Wildfire gets the win and the fans explode.  This brought out the World Champion the Wicked Prophet. Prophet has a live mic.  “Are you kidding me?  I beat this guy over and over and now I have to face him again.  Wildfire, this is it!  You get one more shot and when I beat you AGAIN, you will NEVER, EEEEEEEEEVER get another shot A-GAIN.  He drops the mic and walks off.  Texas Wildfire celebrates with the fans as the show comes to an end.

Stay tuned.  The action is really heating up.

HCW Wrestling Newsletter 2020 #823 (1/22/20)

Hello fans and welcome back to another installment of the HCW Wrestling Newsletter.  On the card tonight, we have 2 Elimination Chamber qualifier matches.  In a rematch from their qualifier, Phat Sol has challenged Dr. Red Fang again.  TV Champion the Banker will defend the title.  El Chango, Leon Teremoto and Magnum Kone are meeting the Snake Pit in a street fight.  Adam Jameson got robbed in his match against Husky Kahn and has asked for a rematch.  Finally, the Ladies title will be on the line with ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito defending against an unnamed opponent.  Let’s get right to the action.

Pyro goes off and the fans pop as 1/3^rd of the 6 Man Tag Team Champions Killa Pops makes his way out to the ring.  Pops interacts with the fans and makes his way down to the ring for this Elimination Chamber qualifier.  After getting in the ring and getting the crowd psyched up, the music changes and plays:

Peach, Pomegranate, Lime Margarita

Hey Margarita!

The fans pop as the Masked Banana makes his way out.  He is in shock at the reception he’s getting from the crowd.  He is then joined on stage by his tag team partner the flannel wearing lumberjack Jack Lumber.  Lumber accompanies MB down to the ring.  They climb into the ring and the Flannelnanas get a huge pop.  Jack shakes MB’s hand wishing him luck and MB asks for a hug.  Jack rolls his eyes but obliges.  He then leaves.  The bell rings and this one begins.  MB took control early on but as the match progressed, Pops would drop MB with spinning side slams and the pimp drop, both of which MB managed to kick out of because Pops didn’t hook the leg.   MB hits Pops with a Potassium boost and the crowd rallies behind him as Pops rolls out of the ring to catch his breath.  While out there, the World Champion the Wicked Prophet sneaks in from from the crowd and attacks Pops dropping him with the Unrighteous Dominion before rolling him back into the ring.  Banana and the ref didn’t see any of it.  Pops managed to get back to his feet but MB caught him with the Banana Split and he went for the cover, hooking the leg and getting the 1-2-3.  The Masked Banana gets the win and secures the #4 spot in the Elimination Chamber.  In a show of good sportsmanship, MB goes to check on Killa and helps him to his feet.  Pops looks at him but in the end, shakes his hand.  Pops leaves allowing MB to soak in the adulation from the crowd before leaving but looks to the audience and sees Prophet mocking him.  He glares at him mumbling under his breath.  (13 min)

Back in the office of the GM, Phat Sol walks in.  He greets the GM’s.  “Listen, I know I lost to Dr. Red Fang in the qualifier match and you gave me this rematch tonight but I really feel that I got robbed in that match and think we need a redo.  I would like our match tonight to be a redo for the Elimination Chamber qualifier.”  Max and Bull think about it.  Bull states “We just can’t keep redoing matches when one party loses.  We’d never get anywhere.  However, if you are willing to put something on the line..”  Phat asks “Like what?”  Max says “You are next in line for the Anytime, Anywhere title.  If you lose this match tonight, you lose that spot to Fang.  Is it a deal?”  Phat doesn’t skip a beat.  “Of course.  For a chance at the World Title, of course I’m in.”  The three shake hands and it looks like we’ll have one more qualifier before the night is over.

We head back to the ring for our next Elimination Chamber qualifier for the night.  First, Madman Mason comes out to massive boos from the crowd.  He flips off the fans and gets in the ring continuing to jaw jack with them.  The music changes and the fans practically explode as ‘the Hoff’ Davis Hoffmeister makes his way out.  He shakes hands with the fans as he makes his way down to the ring.  Mason attacks Davis starting this one off but the Hoff was ready for him and took the match to the madman.  Mason however would hit Davis with the Psychotic Break and get a near fall.  That began the Madman’s offensive run until Jack Lawson came out.   Mason got distracted by his former partner’s appearance and took his eyes off the prize.  That allowed Davis to drop Mason and lock in the Hollywood Clutch (camel clutch).  Mason was trapped in the middle of the ring and had no choice but to tap out.  Davis drops him and with this win, he clinches the #5 spot in the chamber.  Davis leaves as Jack Lawson enters the ring.  Lawson grabs Mason by the hair and looks to the fans who pop.  He then hits Mason with a thunderous chokeslam which the fans enjoy.  Lawson then called for a tombstone piledriver and picked Mason up.  Just as he was ready to deliver it, Mason wiggled out of it and hit Lawson with a low blow before hightailing it out of the ring.  Lawson eventually got to his feet and went after his former tag team partner.  (13 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

Back in the office of the GM, Master Bull announces that this Saturday will be the Saturday Night Showdown with an Elimination Chamber match and a few other matches to be added at the end of the show.  Max says he will announce the other matches towards the end of the show.

We go back to the ring for the rematch between Phat Sol and Dr. Red fang.  It doesn’t take long as the two come out at the same time and brawl down to the ring.  The ref immediately rings the bell and Fang hits an airplane spin.  Phat shakes it off and hits the Phat-Phat (brainbuster).  He goes for the pin but Fang kicks out at two.  The two continue to brawl and at the 8 minute mark, Fang goes for the Vampire Lunge but Phat moves at the last moment and Fang hits the steel post.   Phat continues to go for the pin but Fang keeps kicking out.   The frustration is starting to get to him.  At the 21 minute mark, both men took the fight to the outside.  Fang threw Phat back in first and the ref started to admonish Phat about keeping the action in the ring.  Before Fang got back in the ring, Scooter J snuck in from the crowd and sucker punched Fang and rammed him into the steel post.  He then rolled Fang into the ring.  Scooter J then took off through the crowd.  The ref finally let Phat go and Phat picked up Fang and then hit the jaw jacker.  Phat went for the pin and got the 1-2-3.  Phat Sol gets the win and now he takes Fang’s spot in the Elimination Chamber.   The fans pop for him as the ref raises his arm in victory.  Phat then heads to the back.  Fang gets back to his feet snarling and growling and then makes his way to the back.  (23 min)

Killa Pops walks into the GM’s office and says that Prophet cost him a shot at the chamber.  Max and Bull think it was uncalled for so they will make Prophet defend the title in two weeks and Pops will get that shot.  Pops thanks the GM’s and leaves.

Next up, we have rematch.  The Snake Pit lost their number 1 spot to the team of El Chango, Leon Teremoto and Magnum Kone.  The Pit has demanded a rematch but also, the 6 Man Tag Champs didn’t think a team who has had one match together deserved an automatic title shot so this one was added to the lineup for tonight.  First, the Snake Pit (Leiton, Niven and Tobias Snake) come out to massive booing from the crowd.  They mostly ignore the fans although Leiton got into a verbal altercation with one fan.  Once in the ring, the music changed and out comes their opponents for a street fight.  El Chango, Leon Teremoto & Magnum Kone come out to a nice pop from the crowd.  Magnum has a portable cooler around his chest and digs out ice cream treats for the kids at ringside.  Once the treats are exhausted, the trio enter the ring.  The Pit attack them and for 8 solid minutes, the Snakes dominated the match.  After that point, El Chango and team got in a couple rounds of triple teaming and that began their offensive run.  At the 15 minute mark, the action had spilled to the outside of the ring (legal in this street fight).  Niven deadlifted El Chango and hit a powerbomb on the (padded) floor.  Niven then picked up El Chango taking him to the timekeepers table.  He started to set up to do another powerbomb but El Chango fought out of it and after a well placed kick to the gut, he hit a piledriver on the table.  The table collapsed and the fans chanted “HOLY SH!T”.   El Chango went for the cover and while Leon and Magnum prevented Leiton and Tobias from interfering, he got the 1-2-3.  El Chango, Leon Teremoto and Magnum Kone get the win and secure their title shot for the 6 Man titles at the PPV.  While celebrating, the champs came out and stood on the ramp.  Maximillian Redbeard, Killa Pops and Superquake Ferguson stood tall with their titles held high.  There was no further altercation between the teams.  Once the champs left, El Chango and team also departed.  (15 min)

Ladies Champion Sassy Maxine DeVito is cutting a promo and says that no one is on her level.  She doesn’t care who she fights tonight as they will ultimately lose anyway.

Back at the ring, Husky Kahn has already made his way down and was pacing in the ring.  The music changed and out comes Adam Jameson who makes a beeline for the ring.  Husky bails and makes it look like he’s going to walk away after Adam prevented him from getting back in the ring but Adam finally relented and stepped back.  Husky walked up the steps and climbed through the ropes.  This was another brawl and not a match so the ref almost called the match a no contest but he got control back in the nick of time.  Husky hit Adam with a right and dragged him to the corner where he climbed the turnbuckle and dropped nailing Adam with the bonzai drop.  He went for a pin but Adam got his foot on the bottom rope.  He dragged Adam to the center of the ring and went to the top rope (NOT a good idea) and launched with a B-52 splash but Adam moved and Husky crashed in the ring.  Adam began opening a can of whoop ass on Husky and then caught him with a well placed spin kick.  He went for the pin and the ref counted to 3 just barely before Husky kicked out.  The match is over and Adam gets the win much to Husky’s dismay.  Husky attacked Adam beating him down and then threw him over the top rope.  He went to the outside of the ring and started to pull back the ringside padding.  He then picked Adam up and bodyslammed him on the exposed concrete floor.  A bunch of refs came from the back and surrounded Adam to prevent Husky from attacking him further.  Husky, a sore loser, is sent to the back amid booing from the fans.  He flips them off and stomps to the back.  Adam is helped to the back for medical attention.  (24 min for the match; 5 for the aftermath)

Interviewer Larry Morton is backstage and he invites in Apollo Gyze.  Larry says that Rad had to get some stiches because of the underhanded attack from Apollo.  He reminds Apollo also that Rad is the champion, not him.  Apollo says that possession is 9/10’s of the law and since he has the title and that makes him the champion.  He’s not apologizing for anything.  Just then, GM Master Bull walks in and tells Apollo to hand over the title or risk suspension.  Apollo turns and runs with the title.  Master Bull shakes his head.

It’s time for our TV title defense.  First, the 5^th Column come out to boos from the crowd.  Baron Von Blood walks down to the ring first followed by Oswald Zimmerman and Karl Braun.  As soon as they arrived at the ring, the ref immediately ordered Oswald and Karl to the back to ensure they would not get involved in the match tonight.  Baron seemed pissed but dealt with it.  Next, the TV Champion the Banker comes out with his manager Ruth Heartless.  The duo are booed as they make their way down to the ring.  The Banker gets in and after throwing a glare at Baron, he climbs the turnbuckle holding the TV title high.  He steps down and hands the title over.  He begins to stretch as he waits for the bell to ring.  As soon as the bell rang, the two just started slugging each other with no real outcome.  The Banker then hits the deposit diving DDT on Baron.  Baron retaliates by socking the Banker in the face.   Baron begins to choke the Banker on the ropes but then Ruth gets up on the apron and distracts Baron with her beauty.   The Banker capitalizes by hitting another deposit diving DDT and a hurl out of ring.  Ruth went over and as the Banker distracted the ref, she hit Baron in the head with the briefcase.  She scurried back to the other side of the ring.  The ref began to count and when he reached 10, it was apparent Baron wasn’t making it back in so he called for the bell and awarded the match to the Banker via countout.  The Banker celebrated as the fans booed.  Ruth joined him and yelled at the fans to be appreciative of the TV champ but they responded negatively.  The duo left.  Baron was helped to his feet but he pushed the ref away.  He stumbled to the back. (7 min)

After a brief hiatus, Ladies Champion ‘Sassy’ Maxine DeVito comes out and walks to the ring.  She gets on the mic and says that she is still waiting to see who her opponent will be tonight.  Taylor Bella comes out first and stands on the stage.  The fans pop for her.  She has a mic and says that she is challenging Maxine tonight for the title.  She is interrupted by Hayley Hailstone who also has a mic and says “I beg to differ but I’m getting the title match tonight.  “Nope, nope nope” comes across the sound system and out walks Violet Valkyrie.  “Sorry, but that title shot is going to me”.  Finally, Catalina Harper comes out and corrects them all.  “I am the #1 contender; I have the best record in HCW so if anyone is getting the match, it’s me.”  The four begin to argue.  While that was going on, Korbi Kong walks out passing by the bickering women and walks to the ring.  She says that since no one else can make up their minds, she is challenging Maxine for the title.  As the bell rings, the four ladies on stage stop in bewilderment as this newbie just took one of their spots.

The main event tonight is Maxine vs Korbi.   Before the match began, Korbi is attacked by Missy Chick who beats her down and then rammed her into the steel post.  She then rolled Korbi back in and walked over to the timekeeper and demanded he ring the bell.

Maxine holds her title high and leaves but the four ladies from before all come out to confront her.  Maxine turns and hightails it out through the crowd.  The ladies all follow chasing her throughout the crowd.

We head back to the office of the GM.  Max McGillicutty says that they just finalized the Super Showdown card and this is how it is shaping up:

Just as the show is coming to an end, something is going on in the ring so we head back out there.

The ring is decorated as a hospital operating room. Handsome young Dr. Fang and a nurse are doing “surgery” on a very muscular and heavily bandaged person. A second nurse is on the other side of the table, watching the machines. The soap opera music is playing. Then the machines begin making noise. The nurse states “It’s no use, he's gone.”  Dr. Fang struggles mightily, buy the patient is still dead. The nurse consoles him, when the other nurse screams. The patient sits up (Undertaker style). Everyone is frozen as he gets up and smashes one of the machines, which theatrically explodes. The patient grabs handsome young Dr. Fang and delivers a tombstone piledriver. The lights go out. Seconds later, they are on and the patient is too. The nurses call for help and the medics run out. A stunned SJ and TNT watch from the stage. Then the patient, unbandaged and sporting a black eye, joins them.  It’s the REAL Dr. Red Fang.  He begins attacking both TNT and Scooter J chasing them to the ring.  He then crushes TNT with a Transylvania Piledriver and then whirls SJ around with an airplane spin.  A woozy SJ stumbles around the ring and Fang hits him with a Vampire Lunge.  He picks up the “patient” and hits a Vampire Lunge.  Same with the “fake” Dr. Fang as well as the two nurses. 


The show comes to an end as the fans boo and Fang screams “VAMPIRE LUNGES FOR EVERYBODY”  Fang stands in the ring cackling as the cameras stop rolling.
